Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 3/10, 3:49 PM CT
Mark Teixeira hit his first home run of the spring against Detroit on Wednesday.

Our View: Teixeira started off slow last season, his first with the Yankees, but eventually found his groove and finished with his usual gaudy numbers. Don't expect as much of an adjustment period this time around, as he should come out swinging hard.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 11/3, 11:01 AM CT
Mark Teixeira is batting an abysmal .105 (2-for-19) through the first five games of the World Series.

Our View: For the entire playoffs, he's hitting just .172. He has twice as many strikeouts, 16, as RBI, seven. Apparently, $180 million doesn't buy nearly as many clutch hits as it used to. The Yanks have come to within one game of their 27th championship despite his invisible bat, but if the Phillies come back to win the series, it will be hard not to label Tex's woes as one of the main culprits.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 10/29, 10:35 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 1-for-3 with a solo homer off Pedro Martinez in tonight's 3-1 win over the Phillies in Game 2 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium.

Our View: Teixeira helped New York even the series at 1-1, and is putting his unimpressive ALCS behind him, when he only hit .222 over 27 at-bats (eight strikeouts) against the Angels.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 10/22, 10:52 PM CT
Mark Teixeira finally broke out at the dish on Thursday, but it came in a losing effort as the Yankees fell to the Angels 7-6 in Game 5. Teixeira went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and three RBI in the game.

Our View: Tex got the Yanks back in the game with his three-run double in the seventh, but his team could not finish off LA tonight. If he can stay hot, Big Tex and the Yanks stand a good chance of winning this series.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesFriday 10/9, 9:48 PM CT
Mark Teixeira hit a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Yankees a 4-3 win over the Twins. They now hold a 2-0 lead in the ALDS as the series shifts to Minnesota.

Our View: Tex went 2-for-5 in the game and his other hit was a leadoff single in front of A-Rod's game-tying, two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth off Twins closer Joe Nathan. The big first baseman also had several strong defensive plays to keep the Yanks in the game.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 9/29, 10:03 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 2-for-4 with a single and a solo homer off Anthony Lerew in tonight's 4-3 win over the Royals at Yankee Stadium.

Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 9/27, 4:20 PM CT
Mark Teixeira unloaded for his 38th homer of the season in the Yankees 4-2 division clinching win over the Red Sox on Sunday. He was 2-for-4 on the day.

Our View: The Bombers are headed back to the postseason and it has a lot to do with Tex and his big bat. Not to mention the tiny ballpark that heavily favors lefties. Still, the big man is hitting .351 with six homers and 19 RBI in the season's final month.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 9/20, 7:21 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in the Yankees' 7-1 loss to the Mariners on Sunday. Teixeira is hitting .292 on the season.

Our View: The Yankees didn't do much offensively today, but Tex still had a nice day with three hits. He is earning every cent of the big money contract the Yanks signed him too in the offseason, and he remains in the upper-echelon of fantasy players.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 9/20, 12:27 AM CT
Mark Teixeira was an offensive stalwart on Saturday night as he went 4-for-5 with two homers and five RBI in the Yankees 10-1 beating they handed to the Mariners.

Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 8/30, 3:22 PM CT
Mark Teixeira stayed hot on Sunday as he helped the Yankees to an 8-3 victory over the White Sox. Teixeira went 1-for-3 with a home run, a run scored, and four RBI in the win.

Our View: Tex is making his case for the AL MVP, but he has some stiff competition in Joe Mauer. He has 32 homers and 101 RBI on the season, not to mention his .284 batting average. He gets the job done, so keep riding him down the stretch.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 8/27, 4:20 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 2-for-5 with two RBI in Thursday's 7-2 loss to Texas at Yankee Stadium. Both of his knocks were singles.

Our View: The Yankees only mustered six hits in the game, and Teixeira was their lone source of scoring. He has 22 RBI over 24 games in August, and now currently leads the AL with 97 RBI, passing Justin Morneau (96).
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 8/19, 11:57 PM CT

Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 8/12, 11:56 AM CT
Mark Teixeira is not in the Yankees' lineup for their Wednesday afternoon game against the Blue Jays. He will be replaced by Nick Swisher at first base.

Our View: Just a day off for Big Tex today, so nothing to worry about. Teixeira will continue to be a solid fantasy play for the rest of the season, and he should be considered for the AL MVP award before it is all said and done.

Mark Teixeira led the way for the Yankees again on Sunday as his team defeated the Tigers by a score of 2-1. Teixeira was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, a run scored, and an RBI.

Our View: Tex seems to do this every day, and he now has 23 home runs and 67 RBI to go along with his .280 average. His numbers should stay on the top end of the spectrum thanks to his hitter-friendly home ballpark and the fact that he is one of the best switch-hitters in the game today.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 7/18, 12:57 AM CT
Mark Teixeira had another big night for the Yankees on Friday as his team beat the Tigers by a score of 5-3. Teixiera went 3-for-5 with a home run, a run scored, and three RBI.

Our View: Tex started the second half off right tonight, and it looks like he is poised to have a big end of the season. Fantasy owners should keep him going, especially with his home games being in the launch pad at Yankee Stadium.

Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 6/9, 5:49 PM CT
The Associated Press reports that it is shorter dimensions at the new Yankee Stadium, and not wind, that have caused the alarming spike in home runs from the old Yankee Stadium. AccuWeather.com claims that 20 of the 105 homers hit so far in the stadium would not have gone out at the original Yankee Stadium.

Our View: The Yankees continue to vigorously refute claims that the the dimensions are actually shorter at the new Yankee Stadium, but it is fast becoming clear that this is not the case. Whatever the cause, expect even more balls to be flying out as summer and hotter temperatures and higher humidity settle into the Bronx.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 6/8, 9:26 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 1-for-3 with a solo homer off Andy Sonnanstine in Monday's 5-3 win over the Rays at Yankee Stadium.

Mark Teixeira had another solid performance at the plate on Saturday in the Yankees' 9-7 loss to the division rival Rays. Teixeira went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, a run scored, and three RBI.

Our View: Big Tex just keeps hitting, and he is more than a solid fantasy option. As much as Tex owners suffered during the first month of the season, they are celebrating every time he walks to the plate now. Add in the fact that his home field is a launching pad and you should get top numbers from him all season.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesFriday 6/5, 3:58 PM CT
Friday night's game in New York between the Yankees and the Rays has been postponed due to rain.

Our View: This means all of your favorite Yankees and Rays players, like Mark Teixeira, will not be playing tonight. Adjust your lineup accordingly if possible.

Mark Teixeira led the way for the Yankees' offense on Thursday in their 8-6 win over the Rangers. Teixeira went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored, and three RBI.

Our View: Big Tex and his ankle looked just fine today, and he has really emerged as one of the elite hitters in baseball for the 2009 season. Much was expected from him this season, and he is now living up to it. Keep riding him, and hope he stays healthy, because if he does the numbers should keep on coming.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 6/3, 5:41 PM CT
First basemen Mark Teixeira is not in the Yankees starting lineup Wednesday night due to a bruised ankle according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Apparently Teixeira hurt the ankle on his much talked about takeout slide Tuesday night. X-rays were negative and he will be reevaluated tomorrow.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 6/3, 10:49 AM CT
Mark Teixeira went 0-for-2 in the Yankees 12-3 rout of the Rangers on Tuesday, but his hard slide to break up a double play in the fourth inning helped lead the Yankees to a seven run inning the AP reports.

Our View: Teixeira was also hit twice by Rangers pitcher Vicente Padilla and was visibly upset the second time. It was after the second beaning that he slid hard into second, galvanizing the Yankees seven run inning. Teixeira has been on fire of late and should be considered a must play every day.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 5/31, 3:29 PM CT
Mark Teixeira pounded another homer on Sunday in the Yankees' 5-4 loss to Cleveland. Teixeira went 2-for-4 with the homer, a double, a run scored, and four RBI in the game.

Our View: Big Tex has been excellent over the past few weeks, and is living up to the hype after a slow start. He looks to be fully adjusted to New York, so fantasy owners need to keep plugging him into the lineup.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 5/25, 4:30 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, three runs scored, and two RBI as the Yankees defeated the Rangers 11-1 on Monday.

Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 5/24, 4:49 PM CT
Mark Teixeira was 2-for-5 with a home run in Sunday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Phillies.

Our View: Teixeira now has 13 homers this season and ten of them have come in May. He is a notorious slow starter, but also an electric second half producer. With him heating up in May fantasy owners could be in store for his best season yet. Plug him into your lineup and reap the rewards.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 5/19, 9:10 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 1-for-3 with a home run, a run scored, and two RBI in the Yankees' 9-1 win over the Orioles on Wednesday. Teixeira now has 11 homers and 30 RBI on the year.

Our View: Looks like Big Tex is back as well. He and A-Rod in the middle of that lineup is starting to look pretty scary, especially with both of them hitting with power on a regular basis. Tex owners should be very confident in his production for the rest of the year.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 5/18, 9:45 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 2-for-4 with two home runs, four RBI, and two runs scored as the Yankees held on to beat the Twins 7-6 on Monday. The former Gold Glove recipient made a few impressive key plays in the field as well.

Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 5/17, 9:48 AM CT

Mark Teixeira made his presence felt on Saturday in the Yankees' 6-4 extra innings win over the Twins. Teixeira went 4-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs scored, and four RBI in the win.

Our View: Big Tex has been a big disappointment so far this season, but he gave fantasy owners a small sample today of what he brings to the table. As he gets more comfortable in New York his numbers should improve, but he can't really be much worse. Expect him to be much better going forward, and finally living up to his preseason hype.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 5/10, 4:11 PM CT
Mark Teixeira hit his seventh home run of the season as the Yankees won 5-3 in Baltimore on Sunday. He finished the day 1-for-4 and briefly had his batting average over .200. He is currently hitting .198.

Our View: Tex remains under the Mendoza line, but he has shown some decent power recently. He has hit solo shots in back to back games and has four home runs in his last seven games. The worst should be behind him.

Mark Teixeira had two hits and three RBI for the Yankees on Wednesday night even though he popped out in the 10th inning when the he had the chance to tie the game.

Our View: Teixeira has pushed his average up to .209 meaning we should be pretty happy with his total of 15 RBI in 24 games considering his struggles. Long known as a bit of a slow starter, Tex now has five hits and five RBI in his last three games.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 5/2, 3:49 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 0-for-3 with a walk on Saturday, and he is down to .182 on the season. He has gone 12 games without hitting a homer and owns only one double during that time.

Our View: Boooo! Oops, sorry, we were just mimicking the Yankee faithful. Fantasy owners need to stat patient with this slugger, and now is a good time to buy low.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 4/25, 8:03 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 0-for-1 with five walks in Saturday's 16-11 loss to the Red Sox. He scored three times in the game.

Our View: That's one way to stop a six-game hitting streak. Obviously, if your league is counting walks, Teixeira had a beastly day. In most leagues, he'll contribute three runs, which isn't too bad either.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 4/18, 7:33 PM CT
Mark Teixeira homered for the second straight game, but it made the most minor of dents in a monster Cleveland lead. The home run was his only hit on the day and the Indians cruised to a 22-4 win.

Our View: The big man seems to be getting his swing back after a miserable start to the season. He's only hitting .194, but now has three homers and seems more comfortable at the dish. His numbers will be there in the end, it just takes time.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesFriday 4/17, 3:56 PM CT

Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesFriday 4/17, 10:26 AM CT
Mark Teixeira feels "ten times better" after receiving a cortisone shot in his left wrist, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View: Teixeira is expected back in the Yankees lineup, and if he feels as good as he says he should start hitting the ball. He is hitting only .160 to begin his first season in New York, but be patient. He is too good to be this bad all year.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 4/16, 7:38 PM CT
Mark Teixeira, who went 0-for-2 and was hit by a pitch before Melky Cabrera pinch hit for him in the seventh inning against Cleveland on Thursday, took a cortisone shot in his left wrist to help relieve the lingering pain, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View: Teixeira is now 0-for-9 since returning to the Yankees' lineup on Tuesday and it appears he's still at least a bit bothered by the sore left wrist. While the switch-hitter has been frustrating to own thus far, we're still just a week and a half into the season and it'd be best to remain patient with the slugger.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 4/14, 5:25 PM CT
Mark Teixeira is back in the middle of the Yankees' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays, according to the St. Petersburg Times. He had been out with an ailing left wrist.

Our View: It's good for Teixeira owners that he is back so quickly, and the injury does not appear to have been serious. Watch his numbers over the next few games to see how this will affect him at the plate.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 4/13, 5:12 PM CT
The Star-Ledger reports that the MRI on Mark Teixeira's ailing left wrist showed no structural damage and he hopes to be back in the starting lineup on Tuesday. He is dealing with tendinitis in the wrist which affects his swing from the right side of the plate.

Our View: Tendinitis is not something that typically just disappears, but it looks like we should find out soon if the ailment will have any effect on his production.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 4/13, 7:24 AM CT
Skipper Joe Girardi does not expect Mark Teixeira to start Monday's game against the Rays, according to the Star-Ledger. Girardi said, "We will have to see because it was the right-handed swing that bothered him more than anything. We will see what he says Monday when we get to the park. Maybe we do not post a lineup until it is late."

Our View: Teixeira is dealing with left wrist tendinitis, which causes pain when the switch-hitter attempts to swing right-handed. He missed the last two games and is considered day-to-day.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 4/12, 4:51 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, Mark Teixeira has been diagnosed with left wrist tendinitis, according to the Journal News. He has sat out the Yankees previous two games against the Royals, but does plan to start on Monday.

Our View: There's a chance this injury could have a substantial effect on the slugger. He is a switch-hitting, gold glove first baseman and in regards to his powerful $180-million swing, there seem to be few things as important as his wrist.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 4/12, 11:27 AM CT
Mark Teixeira is not in today's lineup against the Royals while nursing a sore left wrist, according to the Star-Ledger.

Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 4/11, 6:21 PM CT

Our View: This just seems like the Yanks are taking precautionary measures and making sure that the injury isn't anything serious. We'll keep you posted, but he should be back in the lineup tomorrow.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 4/4, 5:39 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 2-for-3 with four RBI in Saturday's 10-1 win over the Cubs. Both of his knocks were home runs.

Our View: He raised his spring average to .433 with five homers and 15 RBI, and should be headed for a strong campaign with the Yankees.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 4/1, 5:23 PM CT
Mark Teixeira was 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI on Wednesday as the Yanks topped the Phillies 8-5.

Our View: The power stroke is back. After failing to really drive the ball most of spring training, the Yankess' first baseman now has three bombs and is looking like he's in mid-season form. Typically a slow starter, Teixeira could bust out early this year. He's hitting .444 this spring.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 3/30, 5:33 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 2-for-3 with two RBI, a double, and a walk as the Yankees beat the Blue Jays 3-1 on Monday.

Our View: Teixeira is hitting .408 this spring, and hopefully he can carry his hot bat into April. He has traditionally been a slow starter, but without Alex Rodriguez in the lineup, the Yankees will count on him to be the difference maker just as he was today.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesFriday 3/27, 10:06 PM CT
Mark Teixeira was 2-for-3 with an RBI in Friday's 4-1 win over the Reds. He's hitting .364 this spring.

Our View: The big man's power has yet to arrive this spring, but don't think he won't turn it on when the season starts. You can mark him down for 30+ homers and 100+ RBI right now. We'll vouch for him.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 3/21, 5:13 PM CT
Mark Teixeira was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI on Saturday in the Yankees 4-3 win. He is batting .419 this spring.

Our View: Teixeira will no doubt have a productive fantasy season in the the middle of New York's stacked lineup. He is a potential first rounder. Expect his power to arrive by Opening Day.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 3/11, 4:04 PM CT
Mark Teixeira drove in his first run of the spring Wednesday in a 2-for-3 day against the Tigers.

Our View: The power numbers thus far are a little discouraging, but Teixeira's average is sitting at .529. Don't be too concerned with spring numbers though. The big man should have no problems in his new lineup and continue to rake.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 2/28, 7:30 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 1-for-3 with a double on Saturday in the Yankees' spring game against the Twins.

Our View: Teixeira was batting third in the order again and it looks like manager Joe Girardi will live up to his word to bat him there, in front of A-Rod.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 2/18, 6:59 PM CT
Mark Teixeira could bat third for the Yankees in his first year with the club, according to the team's official site. Alex Rodriguez would bat fourth in this scenario.

Our View: Teixeira will certainly get some pitches to hit as he and A-Rod are probably the best 3-4 tandem in the majors now that David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez have been broken up in Boston.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 1/5, 7:43 PM CT
Mark Teixeira has finalized his eight-year, $180 million deal with the Yankees on Monday, according to the Associated Press. It will be announced at a press conference on Tuesday.

Our View: Teixeira will certainly add to the Yankees' lineup next year. He will give them a similar home run total with more RBI, a better average, and a gold glove at first base.

Murray Chass reports - on the appropriately named MurrayChass.com - that first baseman Mark Teixeira and his wife did not want to live in Boston, which was one reason he went to New York.

Our View: Nonetheless, Scott Boras did not let the Red Sox know this, and used their offer to help drive up Teixeira's price. We're certain Red Sox fans will greet him warmly over the next eight seasons.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 12/25, 11:18 AM CT
Mark Teixeira turned down an offer from the Nationals that was $5 million more than the Yankees' offer, MASNsports.com reports.

Our View: If the report is true, Big Tex clearly preferred winning over a few extra millions. He is still filthy rich in New York.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 12/24, 10:38 AM CT
The Yankees signing Mark Teixeira has caused many reactions, but the biggest may be that Mark Attanasio, the owner of the Brewers, thinks that baseball may need a salary cap, according to Bloomberg.com.

Our View: The Yankees have spent $423.5 million on three players in the last three weeks, which is more than the other four teams in the AL East spent on their entire rosters for the 2008 season. No one can blame the Yankees for taking advantage of the slow free agent market, but a salary cap would make the league much more competitive from top to bottom if one could be implemented.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 12/23, 2:35 PM CT
Mark Teixeira has reached a deal with the Yankees, according to ESPN. The eight-year contract is worth more than $180 million.

Our View: This is going to really irk the rival Red Sox, who were said to be the top contenders to ink him. Teixeira held a .410 OBP in 2008, which was notably higher than A-Rod's. Teixeira was previously seeking a deal near $200 million and the Yankees joined the race when his price tag came down.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 12/23, 1:56 PM CT
Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated indicates that the Yankees have decided to jump into the chase for Mark Teixeira, as they are now in deep discussions with the elite first baseman.

Our View: Now it appears to be a three-team race for Teixeira between the Red Sox, Nationals and Yankees.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 12/23, 10:57 AM CT
Yankees' GM Brian Cashman stated that he doesn't have an offer out to Mark Teixeira, according to the Orange County Register.

Our View: The club is looking to improve their offense with a healthy return of Jorge Posada and Hideki Matsui next season, and is also pleased with the progress of Robinson Cano and Melky Cabrera in winter-ball.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 12/23, 10:40 AM CT
The Washington Times states that an announcement is coming today regarding the future of elite first baseman Mark Teixeira.

Our View: The source states there are strong indications that the Red Sox will land him, but do not lend support to that claim. The Nationals raised their offer between $178 and $184 million.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 12/22, 7:50 PM CT
The Nationals have increased their offer to Mark Teixeira to eight-years and $178-184 million, according to MASN.

Our View: Since the Angels pulled their offer, it looked like he'd be going to Boston for sure. It's hard to tell how high the Nationals might go to win Teixeira's services.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 12/22, 7:15 AM CT
Newsday reports that the Red Sox never pulled their offer for Mark Teixeira. The contract is reportedly worth at least $180 million. Last week, GM Theo Epstein sent an email stating that the Red Sox would not be a factor in the Teixeira signing. Newsday also reports that the Yankees have not made an offer, despite mettings with Teixeira's agent, Scott Boras.

Our View: The Angels reportedly withdrew from negotiations on Sunday, which leaves the Red Sox, Nationals and Orioles as the teams with offers on the table. It is possible the Yankees make an offer as well, but some believe they are targeting Manny Ramirez on a shorter term deal.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 12/21, 6:02 PM CT
The Angels have withdrawn their eight-year contract offer to first baseman Mark Teixeira, MLB.com confirms. The deal was reportedly in the $160 million range.

Our View: Teixeira shouldn't be sweating too much. The Red Sox, Yankees, Nationals, or Orioles are now the best options to give him enough gold to fill Scrooge McDuck's money vault. This is good news for guys like Kendry Morales and Juan Rivera.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 12/21, 7:16 AM CT
Industry sources indicate that the Yankees have had serious conversations with Mark Teixeira's rep (Scott Boras), according to SlidingIntoHome.com.

Our View: The Yankees are reportedly yet to place their best offer on the table as well. Teixeira would be a great fit in New York, as his OBP of .410 last season was higher than Alex Rodriguez's (.392).
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 12/20, 7:09 PM CT
Mark Teixeira will decide in the next few days where he will sign, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The Red Sox still hold the lead for Teixeira's services as they could both come close to the slugger's contract demands and being on the East Coast, which he prefers for family reasons.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 12/20, 4:13 PM CT
Mark Teixeira and the Red Sox are not that far apart, according to ESPN's Peter Gammons.

Our View: Teixeira's agent, Scott Boras, reportedly raised his expectation to eight years and $195 million, so the Red Sox could be at about $185 million, so we could see a compromise of $190 million happening if the Angels don't up the bidding too much.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 12/20, 9:30 AM CT
Talks have resumed between Mark Teixeira's agent (Scott Boras) and the Yankees and Angels, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.

Our View: The Yankees are deciding whether to chase Teixeira or Manny Ramirez, either of which would irk the rival Red Sox if signed. The Angels may be preparing for a move, potentially boosting their bid from the $160-170 million range.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesFriday 12/19, 4:11 PM CT
The Red Sox will not make a higher offer than the eight-year $180ish million deal they've already given to Mark Teixeira, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View: The Angels, Yankees, Orioles, and Nationals are the other teams believe to be bidding for Teixeira and Boston won't raise their bid without knowing who may have outbid them.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 12/18, 10:09 PM CT
Updating a previous story, the Mark Teixeira to Boston Red Sox deal that seemed almost wrapped up mere hours ago now may be off, according to The Boston Globe. Here is an excerpt from Red Sox owner John Henry's recently sent email. "We met with Mr. Teixeira and were very much impressed with him. After hearing about his other offers, however, it seems clear that we are not going to be a factor."

Our View: All we need now is for someone to announce that they are sleeping with someone else's wife and we would have an episode of As the World Turns. Is this a negotiating ploy by the Sox or have they grown tired of Scott Boras' exorbitant demands? Only time will tell, but you heard it from the horses mouth, or at least the man who would be signing the checks - the deal appears dead.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 12/18, 7:17 PM CT
Mark Teixeira appears almost certain to sign a contract with the Red Sox, according to the Red Sox Official Website. According to the report, agent Scott Boras has been in on a face-to-face meeting with Sox Owner John Henry, CEO Larry Lucchino and GM Theor Epstein on Thursday.

Our View: Included in the report is mention of the fact that the Sox may have upped their eight year offer to $23 million per season for a package of $184 million. And you thought the Nationals and Orioles really had a shot? Boras was just using those teams to drive up the Red Sox offer; apparently it worked.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 12/18, 2:12 PM CT
SI.com reports that the Red Sox and Angels could both be in for nearly $180 million over eight seasons for free-agent first baseman Mark Teixeira.

Our View: Most people seem to believe that the Red Sox are the favorites here, but the Angels clearly desire to bring him back. Could the asking price go up? Probably.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 12/18, 10:21 AM CT
The Baltimore Sun reports that Orioles president Andy MacPhail may still indeed increase their offer to free-agent Mark Teixeira. Recent reports indicated that other offers had surpassed Baltimore's and that they were no longer a player for the first baseman. "If they came back to us and told us what it would take and we thought that it made sense for us, then, yes" the offer would be increased, MacPhail said.

Our View: The Teixeira front runner seems to change with the wind and he will likely get as much money as he wants. The Red Sox, Nationals, Angels and Orioles have all made offers, and it is possible that the Yankees may get involved as well.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 12/18, 9:51 AM CT
The Yankees are believed to covet free-agent Mark Teixeira, but they have yet to make an offer, according to Newsday.

Our View: It seems unlikely they would land him at this point, as other teams have been in negotiations with his agent for weeks.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 12/17, 11:26 AM CT
The offer that the Baltimore Orioles gave to free-agent first baseman Mark Teixeira is not as lucrative as the other teams involved, and are not viewed as a potential land spot any longer, reports Buster Olney of ESPN.com.

Our View: Olney reports that the Orioles offered Teixeira a seven-year deal for $150 million, and although the annual average is more than what other teams are said to have offered (eight years, $160 million), it's for fewer years and less total money.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 12/17, 8:52 AM CT
The Boston Red Sox will not offer Mark Teixeira a 10-year deal, and in fact will not offer that length of contract to anyone, the Boston Globe reports.

Our View: The reason cited for not offering anyone that length of contract is because of Manny Ramirez. However, most of the teams that have bid on Teixeira's services are said to have offered eight years.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 12/16, 5:11 PM CT
Mark Teixeira is very close to making a decision, according to ESPN's Peter Gammons. Gammons stated that it's down to the Red Sox and Angels unless the Nationals can blow him away with a deal. Gammons also said that the Yankees are only in on Teixeira to drive up the price for the Red Sox, which is what Boston did to New York during the CC Sabathia negotiations.

Our View: Teixeira will probably get a larger offer from the Angels but he has stated a preference to go to the East Coast for family reasons. We'll keep you posted.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 12/16, 10:32 AM CT
Mark Teixeira is reportedly nearing his decision regarding which team to join, according to ESPN News.

Our View: To reiterate, the top contenders are the Red Sox, Angels, Orioles and the Nationals. The Yankees reportedly re-entered the race as well, as stated by Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 12/15, 10:21 AM CT

Our View: That would trump the offers of the Nationals and Angels of $160 million for the elite first baseman. Patrick then speculated that the Angels may opt to pursue Manny Ramirez.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 12/14, 7:14 AM CT
The New York Post reports the Yankees are looking to sign Mark Teixeira.

Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesFriday 12/12, 9:04 AM CT
The Nationals have reportedly bid $140 million for seven years in their pursuit to reel in Mark Teixeira, according to Joel Sherman of the NY Post.

Our View: There was previously speculation that the Nationals' offer was for eight years at $160 million. It remains to be seen where the prized free agent first baseman will land. Boston is still believed to be a top contender, but their offer is unknown.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 12/11, 11:44 PM CT
The Orioles have said that they won't up their offer for Mark Teixeira, even though he has bigger offers on the table, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 12/11, 9:08 AM CT
The Angels are reportedly willing to offer at least seven years in the $160 million-range to retain Mark Teixeira, according to the LA Times.

Our View: The Red Sox, Nationals, and Orioles are aggressively pursuing Teixeira, and those clubs could hold the inside track over the Angels as he would like to play in the east and covets a deal longer than seven years.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 12/10, 11:22 PM CT
Fox Sports reports that the Red Sox are making progress in their quest to sign free-agent first baseman Mark Teixeira. Teixeira is the Red Sox's No. 1 offseason target. They view him as the perfect fit for the middle of their order. Teixeira is seeking a 10-year contract for at least $20 million per season. The Red Sox preference would be to sign him to a deal between six and eight years.

Our View: The Red Sox, Angels, Nationals, Orioles, and Yankees have all been linked to the switch-hitting slugger. Most of the rumored deals are for eight years, but it's possible he could get 10 years, given the caliber of teams that are involved.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 12/10, 8:50 PM CT

MLB.com reports that the Nationals have offered Mark Teixeira an eight-year deal for $180 million. The Angels, Orioles, Red Sox and Yankees are also in the mix.

Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 12/10, 2:46 PM CT
The LA Times reports that the Orioles are willing to offer Mark Teixeira nine years for at least $20 million per season. The source also states that the Nationals are willing to offer 10 years at around the same annual salary.

Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 12/10, 1:19 PM CT

Dave Sheinin of the Washington Post has heard that the Yankees signing of CC Sabathia (at $160 million) has taken them out of the race for elite first baseman Mark Teixeira.

Our View: This may just be speculation or wishful thinking, as the Nationals are said to be a top contender for Teixeira.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 12/10, 10:21 AM CT
The Nationals are believed to be willing to shell out $160 million over eight years to land Mark Teixeira, according to the LA Times.

Our View: That could make Washington the front runners over Boston, New York (AL), Baltimore, as well as the Angels. The other clubs are not believed to be interested in offering him a deal longer than seven years, but that could of course change.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 12/9, 9:24 PM CT

Our View: The Giants are looking to bolster their offense this offseason, but Teixeira is too pricey for the club.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 12/9, 4:44 PM CT
The Angels are beginning to believe that they will not be the highest bidder for Mark Teixeira, according to Fox Sports.

Our View: It looks like the Nationals may end up the highest bidder for Teixeira, coming close to the 10-year $200 million deal that he's looking for. It's unclear how much more important money is to him than playing for a contender like the Angels or Red Sox.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 12/9, 7:42 AM CT
Yahoo! Sports reports that many officials in Vegas feel that free agent Mark Teixeira will end up in Boston. “He is a perfect fit for the Red Sox and Boston,” said one club official. “A guy who plays every day, doesn’t need to be the center of attention, is a good teammate, and can hit like he does, I can’t see the Red Sox letting him get away.”

Our View: They face formidable competition for his services – the Angels are desperate to keep him, and one source familiar with negotiations say that the Yankees are in “huge” on Teixeira, though New York GM Brian Cashman told reporters that while he met with the switch-hitting first baseman last week, he hasn’t made him an offer. Other teams that have been mentioned as possible contenders for Teixeira’s services include the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals, teams close to where Teixeira grew up.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 12/8, 10:30 PM CT

Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 12/8, 12:51 AM CT
Mark Teixeira officially declined arbitration on Sunday, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View: Darren Oliver and David Weathers were the only players who accepted arbitration. Teixeira likely never even considered it as he could sign a deal as long as 10 years long.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesFriday 12/5, 11:09 AM CT
Yankees' GM Brian Cashman met with Mark Teixeira in Washington Thursday, according to the NY Times.

Agent Scott Boras is claiming that Mark Teixeira had a number of offers, but would not disclose from which clubs, according to MLB.com.

Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 11/25, 9:05 AM CT
Mark Teixeira is coveting a 10-year deal, and it seems that the Angels are not willing to invest in him for that long, according to the LA Times.

Our View: The Angels are now focusing on CC Sabathia for the time being. Teixeira is on the Giants' radar, and there is speculation that the Red Sox are going to make the elite first baseman a sizable offer, but it remains to be seen if they would ink him for 10 years.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 11/25, 7:03 AM CT
Mark Teixeira was on the Giants' radar but they think he wants to play back East, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: It remains to be seen if the club will pursue another big bat, such as Adam Dunn.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 11/24, 7:06 AM CT
The Orange County Register believes Mark Teixeira will land in Boston. There is belief that if he was going to re-sign with the Angels it would likely have happened already. He is also not likely to sign with non-contenders Baltimore and Washington.

Our View: This makes sense, but the Yankees cannot be ruled out as a landing spot. It was previously stated that they are expected to make a run at the elite first baseman if they only sign one of CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett, and Derek Lowe.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 11/20, 2:32 PM CT

Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 11/19, 8:37 PM CT
It has been reported several times that the Nationals have interest in signing free-agent first baseman Mark Teixeira, according to the Washington Post. Some people around the first baseman say that he is also interested in the Nationals.

Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 11/19, 2:08 PM CT
Tony Massarotti of the Boston Globe predicts the Red Sox to make Mark Teixeira the largest contract offer in the history of the franchise.

Our View: This is a bold prediction, but you cannot deny the fact that the Red Sox will stop at nothing to acquire a player they want, just like the rival Yankees. David Ortiz said several times that he would like to bat alongside another "30 homer guy" in the lineup, and adding Teixeira would satisfy his wish.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 11/18, 9:43 AM CT
The Yankees talked to Mark Teixeira's agent (Scott Boras) despite trading for Nick Swisher, according to Newsday.

Our View: Teixeira could be an option if the Yankees fail to land one of the top pitchers on their list, such as CC Sabathia or AJ Burnett.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 11/18, 8:53 AM CT
The Orioles have contacted Mark Teixeira's agent (Scott Boras), according to the Baltimore Sun. There was no offer made, but Boras will get back to the Orioles when he is ready to talk specifics.

Our View: The Orioles don't look to be a contender in the very strong AL East, but Teixeira is Maryland-born, which will help a bit in the Orioles' bid to sign him.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 11/15, 4:54 PM CT
Mark Teixeira could get an offer between 7-10 years for more than $20 million a year, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Teixeira is likely to be the most sought after free agent this offseason, with the Red Sox, Yankees, and Angels all planning to go after him hard. There's a chance that more of a surprise team like the Giants could enter the picture too, but the big three are probably more likely to bring him in.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 11/15, 1:05 PM CT
The Giants are interested in prized free agent first baseman Mark Teixeira and have talked to his agent, but it is unknown if the club made him an offer, according to the SF Chronicle. Giants' director of player personnel Bobby Evans said, "We're willing to go after the best talent we can."

Our View: The Giants likely wouldn't be able to sign Rafael Furcal or any of the other top free agent shortstops if they land Teixeira.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 11/15, 11:12 AM CT
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports indicated that the Angels could wait a week to 10 days before making Mark Teixeira a "knockout offer" with a deadline.

Our View: The Angels do not want agent Scott Boras shopping around their offer to the Yankees, Red Sox, Orioles, and Nationals, hence driving up the price for the elite first baseman.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesFriday 11/14, 11:11 AM CT
The Red Sox are set at first base with Kevin Youkilis, but Mark Teixeira could still be an option for the team as David Ortiz said several times that he would like to bat alongside another "30 homer guy" in the lineup, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Youkilis could move to third base, but the team has Mike Lowell under contract for another two years. Lowell is coming off hip surgery, so his market value would take a hit if the team tried to trade him. Still, Teixeira shouldn't be ruled out for Boston.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesFriday 11/14, 9:46 AM CT
Mark Teixeira is a top target of the Orioles, according to the Baltimore Sun. The Orioles have money to spend and GM Andy MacPhail said he will be "kicking the tires of some top available free agents" over the next few days and weeks. AJ Burnett is also high on MacPhail's list.

Our View: The Orioles need help in their starting rotation, at shortstop, and in the middle of their lineup. They covet a run producer at first base, and Teixeira is the best available in free agency.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesFriday 11/14, 7:57 AM CT
Mark Teixeira is not likely to land with the Yankees after the club acquired outfielder/first baseman Nick Swisher from the White Sox, according to the NY Post.

Our View: The Yankees top priority remains to sign a top pitcher, with their first choice being CC Sabathia. Teixeira was more of a backup plan in case their effort to add pitching was unsuccessful, and signing Swisher pushed Teixeira further down their list.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 11/11, 10:30 AM CT
The Angels will reportedly wait to make a bid on Mark Teixeira and won't take action during their exclusive negotiation period, according to the LA Times.

Our View: The Angels do not want agent Scott Boras shopping around their offer to the Yankees, Red Sox, Orioles, and Nationals, hence driving up the price for the elite first baseman.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 11/9, 11:02 AM CT
Mark Teixeira's agent Scott Boras is reported as saying that his client has too many teams interested for him to negotiate with all of them, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: Teixeira will bring a larger contract than any of Boras' other clients this offseason, and it would be surprising to see a deal before December with so many interested clubs.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 11/4, 7:27 AM CT
A conflict could be brewing between the Angels and Mark Teixeira, according to the . Teixeira's agent, Scott Boras, would like to let the market for Teixeira develop while the Angels would like to get a deal done quickly so they can move on to other priorities.

Our View: This matches Boras' style. He always seems to negotiate contracts for his highest profile clients first, and then moves down tier by tier. Boras' top client this offseason is likely going to be Manny Ramirez, and Boras and the Dodgers have already been talking.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 10/30, 12:27 PM CT
Mark Teixeira is unlikely to get a huge offer from the Yankees, according to Newsday.com. The Yankees priority will be starting pitching, and will likely give their whopper deal of the offseason to C.C. Sabathia instead of Teixeira.

Our View: The Yankees also need to find a center fielder, so first base may end up being their number three priority this offseason.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 10/27, 4:15 PM CT
Angles beat writer Lyle Spencer believes the Angels could offer Mark Teixeira a deal of upwards of six years and $120 million to remain with the club, according to the Angels Official Website.

Our View: Teixeira was tremendous in 54 games with the Angels hitting .358-13-43, and the club really needs his power bat in the middle of the lineup with Vlad Guerrero. However, there are a bunch of teams in hot pursuit of the slugging first baseman, so $120 million may not be enough to retain his services.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 10/22, 12:14 PM CT
The Boston Red Sox are interested in acquiring free agent Mark Teixeira, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: The Red Sox don't really have a spot for Teixeira if they keep Lowell, Ortiz, and Youkilis. This could be a case of the Red Sox simply trying to keep him away from the Yankees, which is the constant offseason game in the AL East.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesFriday 10/17, 8:20 PM CT
Mark Teixeira is at the top of the list of free agent hitters that the Yankees will be pursuit of this offseason, according to Sports Illustrated. Other teams that might be interested in the slugger would include the Angels, Orioles, Mariners and Giants.

Our View: Even if the Yankees don't add Teixeira, there is little chance that Jason Giambi and his 30-home run bat will return to the Yankees.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesFriday 10/10, 7:45 AM CT
The Baltimore Orioles will be in contact with the agent for free agent first baseman Mark Teixeira, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: A lot of teams will likely be trying to contact Teixeira's agent, Scott Boras. Most believe the Yankees, especially, will be in heavy pursuit of the first baseman.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 10/6, 11:18 PM CT
Mark Teixeira hit .467 in the Angels four game series loss to the Red Sox though he went 0-for-2 with two walks in Game 4.

Our View: Was this the last game for Teixeira in an Angels uniform? Tex is looking to strike oil this off-season as the top free agent hitter on the open market. The bidding will likely start at $100 million and head north so it will certainly be interesting to see who backs up the truck to the bank vault for the slugging first baseman.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 10/4, 12:37 AM CT
Mark Teixeira went 3-for-3 with three runs, a walk and an RBI on a sac fly in the eighth in Friday night's Game 2. The Angels lost 7-5 and are now down 0-2 in the series.

Our View: All three of his hits were singles and he improved to 5-for-7 on the series.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 10/2, 7:29 AM CT
The Los Angeles Angels will make a serious attempt to re-sign first baseman Mark Teixeira when the season concludes, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Our View: Teixeira figures to be one of the more expensive free agents this offseason. The slugging first baseman was traded from the Braves to the Angels in the middle of the year.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 9/25, 8:50 AM CT
Mark Teixeira's eighth-inning solo home run was the winning run in the Angels' 6-5 victory over the Mariners on Wednesday night according to the AP. It was his 13th home run in 50 games with the Angels. He was 4-for-5 on the night. "Very few times I go out there trying to hit a home run," Teixeira said. "But tie game, eighth inning. With two outs there, I'm looking to drive the ball. I got a pitch middle in and got a pretty good swing on it."

Our View: The Angels acquired Tex for his late season hot bat and he has delivered. He is hitting .361 with the Angels after batting .283 with the Braves earlier this season.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 9/21, 5:18 PM CT
Mark Teixeira took Scott Feldman deep on Sunday, a two run shot that was his 32nd home run of the year.

Our View: Teixeira is one RBI short of his second 120-RBI season, and wherever he ends up this off-season he will be bringing with him a Uhaul truck of cash. On the year Mark is batting .615 with 21 RBI in 13 AB with the bases loaded helping to explain some of his monster numbers.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 9/17, 11:44 PM CT
Mark Teixeira accounted for all of the Angels RBI and half of their hits in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the A's. He finished the night 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run.

Our View: Teixeira is hitting .353 with the Angels and his OPS continues to climb well above 1.000. As is typical with Teixeira, he is ending the season on a very high note.

Mark Teixeira became the first player in MLB history to have back-to-back 30-home run seasons while playing for two different clubs in each of those campaigns, according to the Orange County Register.

Our View: Teixeira hit 20 home runs with the Braves this season and hit his 10th home run for the Angels in Sunday’s win over Seattle. In 2007, Teixeira hit 13 home runs for the Rangers before he was traded to the Braves. He hit 17 for Atlanta after the trade.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesFriday 9/12, 9:59 AM CT
Mark Teixeira could return to the Angels' lineup tonight after dealing with an infection, according to the LA Times. He sat out the last two games but said, "I feel a lot better. I feel really confident it's nothing major."

Our View: He has been taking antibiotics for the unexplained infection. We will keep you posted on his status for tonight's game. Kendry Morales had been filling in at first base while he was out.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 9/10, 4:32 PM CT
Mark Teixeira was not in the Angels starting lineup on Wednesday because of an infection that he is taking medication for, according to the Orange County Register. “I started running a fever last night,” he said. “They just wanted to make sure it didn’t get worse.”

Our View: Teixeira said he would be playing if it were the playoffs, and he fully expects to be in the lineup on Thursday as he pursues his 30th home run of the year to go along with his .305 average and 111 RBI.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 9/8, 12:34 PM CT
The Orange County Register indicates that the Yankees may be the frontrunner to land first baseman Mark Teixeira in the off-seeason. Des Martini of examiner.com lists the Angels as 7-1 favorites to keep him beyond this season, and the Yankees have 2-1 odds. The Orioles (3-1 odds), Mariners (16-1), and Giants (17-1) are also known teams that will be targeting Teixeira.

Our View: It is unknown exactly what factors were used to generate those odds. It is clear that the Angels will not let the elite first baseman go easily. He is young, and has been healthier than Vlad Guerrero and Garret Anderson. He is a better defender as well.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 9/4, 8:49 AM CT
The Angels took x-rays on the right hand of first baseman Mark Teixeira after it got hit by a bad hop on a ground ball, according to the L.A. Times. Turns out the injury was just a bruise.

Our View: Teixeira was the designated hitter for the Angels on Wednesday, but he should be back on the field at first base in no time.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 8/28, 12:49 AM CT
The A's and Angels battled for the love of the west coast this evening, and it was Oakland emerging with the 6-5 win. For the Angels, first baseman Mark Teixeira continues to do positive work with the stick, going 3-for-4 with his 31st double of the season, adding one RBI to the stat line.

Our View: Teixeira continues to terrorize the competition in the AL, hitting .373 through August coming into this evening with seven homers, 20 RBIs, and 19 runs scored. He improved those numbers this evening and wilil continue to do so moving forward.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 8/24, 5:36 PM CT

Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 8/24, 2:55 PM CT
Check out the numbers on Mark Teixeira, on a rampage since leaving the National League to join the Angels, according to MLB.com. Teixeira is batting .367 with six home runs and 19 RBIs with a .474 on-base percentage in 22 games since being traded to the Angels on July 29th.

Our View: Teixeira, who played four and a half seasons in the American League West with the Rangers before being traded to the Braves before last season's Trade Deadline, said it's been an easier adjustment for him. He's already familiar with the parks and pitchers in the league, so it was just getting back to the basics for him.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 8/23, 11:18 PM CT
Mark Teixeira led the Angels to a 7-5 win over Minnesota Saturday, going 3-for-3 with a homer and two RBI.

Our View: Teixeira touts one RBI in each of his last five games, hitting an impressive .333 for the month of August.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 8/3, 3:39 PM CT
The Yankees and Angels gave us another barnburner today, fighting through 25 total hits for the Yanks to emerge victorious, 14-9. However, give newly-acquired first baseman Mark Teixeira credit for making it interesting. Teixeira hit a grand slam in the eighth inning, his only hit of the game, pulling his teal into the lead. However, the effort was lost by giving up six runs to the Yanks in the bottom of that same inning.

Our View: This was Teixeira's first homer since July 26th, though he has gone 8-for-24 at the dish since.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 8/2, 12:43 PM CT
Don't necessarily look for big numbers tonight from new Halos first baseman Mark Teixeira. Against tonight's starting pitcher for the Yankees, Mike Mussina, Teixeira is just 4-for-25 (.160) with six strikeouts and zero extra-base hits.

Our View: Teixeira has only had 10 at-bats for the Angels in his three games there, and he does have three hits. Fantasy owners waiting for him to hit his first home run in a Halos uni may have to wait yet another day, though.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 7/31, 9:39 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 2-for-4 with an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in the Angels victory over New York.

Our View: Of course, Teixeira also left three runners on base, but soon enough his bat will produce in an even bigger way.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 7/31, 8:14 AM CT
The Angels' new first baseman, Mark Teixeira, went 0-for-4 in a 9-2 victory over Boston on Wednesday and struck out twice with runners in scoring position - once looking, once swinging, but looking bad while doing it both times.

Our View: Of course, Casey Kotchman went 0-for-5 in Atlanta so Angels' fans cannot be too upset. Tex will produce in time for the Angels and we should expect a strong finish from the soon-to-be free agent.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 7/30, 9:01 AM CT
Mark Teixeira has been tabbed to bat third in the Angels' lineup, according to the LA Times.

Our View: Teixeira is used to the American League from his days with the Rangers, and has landed in a great situation, from a production standpoint, as he has Chone Figgins and Howie Kendrick hitting ahead of him in the lineup, and will be well-protected with Vlad Guerrero batting behind him in the cleanup spot.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 7/29, 5:04 PM CT
Mark Teixeira has been traded to the Los Angeles Angels for Casey Kotchman and Double-A pitcher Stephen Marek, according to Keith Law of ESPN.com.

Our View: Teixeira will provide the Angels with a bit more pop than Kotchman, taking his 20 home runs to California. Bad news for owners who had Tex in NL-only leagues, however.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 7/29, 12:41 PM CT
With Brian McCann out of the lineup to a concussion and Chipper Jones visiting his happy place, the disabled list, Mark Teixeira isn't going to receive much protection in the Braves soft-hitting lineup.

Our View: The recent rash of injuries make Teixeira almost a certainty to be with a new team by Thursday. The Angels, Yankees and Rays are the most likely candidates.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 7/29, 9:17 AM CT
The Angels are reportedly warming to the idea of trading for Mark Teixeira, according to the LA Times. The Halos had been hesitant to trade for someone who could be a rental. "I would look at any opportunity to make us better," GM Tony Reagins said. "That scenario is unlikely, but I would look at it." Reagins said Monday that no deal is "imminent or close."

Our View: The Angels' pockets are deep enough to where they could end up re-signing Tex after the season, anyway. Casey Kotchman and a prospect or two would likely be sent to Atlanta.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 7/29, 7:48 AM CT
There have been reports suggesting the Braves and D'Backs are close to a deal involving Mark Teixeira. Not so, according to the East Valley Tribune. The paper cites a a major league source with knowledge of the situation that says there is "no way" the team will end up with Tex, or Manny Ramirez, for that matter.

Our View: There are conflicting reports all over the place regarding Tex and the D'Backs, so we'll just let this one play out. The Angels, Dodgers, Rays and Red Sox are other teams that have expressed interest.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 7/28, 5:20 PM CT
Yahoo! Sports reports that the Braves and Diamondbacks are getting close on a deal that would send Mark Teixeira to Arizona. The Braves would take on a top prospect and either Conor Jackson or Chad Tracy.

Our View: Teixeira smashes second-half pitching no matter where he ends up. The Diamondbacks have players with good OBPs at the top of the order which should help Teixeira's RBI opportunities.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 7/28, 4:42 PM CT
The Braves have made a bevy of moves on Monday that seem to indicate that they will be sellers at the trade deadline which may mean they could aggressively shop Mark Teixeira over the next couple of days. Chipper Jones and Tim Hudson have been placed on the DL while Brian McCann will be shut down for a few games to recover from a home plate collision on Sunday.

Our View: Teixeira is a free agent after this season and if the Braves hold on to him, they will be awarded two extra draft picks should they lose him as a free agent. For a team to trade for Teixeira before the deadline they will have to offer plenty of young prospects. A change in scenery should be good news for Teixeira.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 7/26, 6:21 PM CT
Mark Teixeira hit home run number 20 on the season off of Phillies ace Cole Hamels in the Braves 10-9 loss to Philadelphia. Teixeira's home run was part of a nine-run fourth inning.

Our View: Teixeira has been rumored to be trade bait for some time now, and today's performance won't do anything to keep suitors away.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesFriday 7/25, 5:43 PM CT
The Arizona Diamondbacks have serious interest in acquiring Atlanta Braves first baseman Mark Teixeira, according to Jayson Stark of ESPN.com.

Our View: Chad Tracy has been playing first base for Arizona, but he doesn't have near the power that Teixeira does. The Braves slugger has 19 home runs on the season.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 7/21, 8:55 PM CT
Mark Teixeira is helping this trade value. The first baseman went 2-for-4 with a double, one run, and one RBI on Monday. He is 7-for-13 in the four games since the All-Star break.

Our View: Teixeira's potential landing spots could be the talk of baseball over the coming 10 days. He will be a fantasy stud no matter where he ends up.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 7/20, 6:17 PM CT
The Braves continue to look more like sellers than buyers as we move away from the All-Star break, falling 15-6 to the Nationals today to lose the series. However, one player rumored as trade bait served as a positive note. First baseman Mark Teixeira went 3-for-4 at the plate with one walk and two homers (his 18th and 19th this season), finishing with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Our View: Teixeira is doing what he can to draw attention, hitting .291 with three homers and 10 RBIs through July, also touting an evenly-balanced 11 walks and 11 strikeouts along the way.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 7/20, 11:48 AM CT
Mark Teixeira believes he will remain with the Braves and doesn't expect to be dealt prior to the July 31 trade deadline, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He said, "Bobby Cox pointed out that there had been rumors about me and reliever Will Ohman, and he told us not to listen to media reports and to those rumors, because this team is still trying to win the NL East." Cox added the Braves are buyers, not sellers.

Our View: Cox's assurance will help prevent the trade rumors from becoming a distraction for Teixeira heading up to the deadline. He only holds a .273 average, but belted 17 homers with 69 RBI over 95 games.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 7/14, 9:57 PM CT
Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein has denied trade rumors regarding Braves first baseman Mark Teixeira, the Boston Globe reports. ESPN had reported that the Red Sox and Braves were discussing a swap of Teixeira for Kevin Youkilis and Craig Hansen.

Our View: It'll still be interesting to monitor the Teixeira situation as the trade deadline nears. He is in the final year of his contract, and the Braves are looking up at three teams in the NL East.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 7/6, 8:31 PM CT
Mark Teixeira drove in the game winning run in the top of the 17th off of Astros reliever Tim Byrdak. He was 3-for-7 on the night and collected three RBI to give him a total of 66 on the season.

Our View: The Braves have struggled at the plate lately, but Teixeira has been pretty consistant. If the rest of the team can get healthy and hot, his value will increase. He remains a possible trade piece, due to his pending free agency.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 6/28, 3:16 PM CT
The Blue Jays and Braves wasted no time getting to business today, but the absence of top bats in the Atlanta lineup left the Braves vulnerable, falling 9-5. Despite the fall, first baseman Mark Teixeira continued to swing a hot bat, going 1-for-2 with two walks and his 16th homer of the season, totaling two RBIs and two runs scored on the day.

Our View: Teixeira now carries six home runs over his last six games with 11 RBIs and eight runs scored across that same span. He's as hot as it gets, but today his efforts came up short.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesFriday 6/27, 9:27 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 2-for-3 with three RBI in Friday's 4-0 win over Toronto. He hit a double and a two-run homer.

Our View: That was his 15th homer of the season, with five coming over his last five games. He has nine RBI over that span as well.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 6/25, 3:15 PM CT
Orioles GM Peter Angelos is prepared to offer Braves first baseman Mark Teixeira a mammoth contract once he becomes a free agent at the end of the season, according to FOXSports.com.

Our View: The Orioles primary first baseman, Kevin Millar, is 37, so the need is obvious. It is being reported that Teixeira will command eight years at $160 million, which seems plenty steep. With this knowledge, the Braves may very well decide to shop him at the trade deadline before he gets away for nothing. They are currently 39-41 and four games out of first place.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 6/24, 9:02 PM CT
Mark Teixeira connected in the bottom of the ninth for his seventh home run in June and his fourth in three days. The June total accounts for half of his home runs in 2008.

Our View: Teixeira heats up with the weather. Look for similar production in July and August.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 6/22, 3:27 PM CT
With Chipper Jones and Yunel Escobar on the shelf today, the Braves needed a source of offense to support RHP Tim Hudson against the Seattle Mariners, and first baseman Mark Teixeira provided that spark, leading his team to an 8-3 win over Seattle. Teixeira went 3-for-4 at the plate with three homers on the day, totaling four RBIs and three runs scored on the day.

Our View: This gives Teixeira 13 homers on the season, though he had not hit one since June 8th entering today.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 6/8, 5:06 PM CT
The Braves suffered the 6-3 loss to Philadelphia today as relief pitching gave way to the Phillies' offense, though Atlanta first baseman Mark Teixeira did what he could to reverse their fortunes. Teixeira went 3-for-5 with his 10th home run of the season to total two RBIs and one run scored on the day.

Our View: Teixeira had just three homers in the month of May. He has already matched that in June with the bulk of the month to go.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 6/2, 9:50 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI in Monday's win over the Marlins. He has gone deep in four of the last five games and has 11 RBI over that span.

Our View: It's amazing how quickly Tex has turned a disappointing season into a decent-looking campaign. This hot streak bodes well for the coming summer months.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 6/1, 3:13 PM CT
Mark Teixeira had only one hit on Sunday, but it was a solo homer. The first baseman has gone deep in three of his last four games.

Our View: Tex typically heats up with the weather, and we figure he's just ramping up for a big second half.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 5/31, 6:58 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 2-for-6 and racked up two more RBI in Saturday's 8-7 loss to Cincinnati. One of his hits was good for his seventh homer of the season as well.

Our View: He has registered three or more RBI in three of his last six games, and ended May with 22 RBI. That was his ninth multi-hit game of the month additionally.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 5/29, 3:28 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 2-for-3 and collected four RBI in Thursday's 8-1 win over Milwaukee. Most of the damage came on a three-run homer, his sixth of the season.

Our View: That was his eighth multi-hit game in May, and the second time he reached four RBI over his last four games.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 5/26, 3:35 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 2-for-4 and generated four RBI in Monday's 7-3 victory over the Diamondbacks.

Our View: That was his seventh multi-hit game in May, and today's RBI total was his highest of the season.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 5/22, 6:47 PM CT
Mark Teixeira is 7-for10 against the Mets the past couple of days as he has overcome a slow start to push his average up to .274, according to MLB.com. "Hopefully, I'll start hitting some more [home runs] and driving in some more runs for the team, because that's what I'm here for," said Teixeira.

Our View: Over his last 10 games Tex is 12-for-35 with seven RBI as it's slowly coming together for a player who was a top-20 draft pick in most leagues this season. Your patience is slowly starting to be rewarded, so don't panic now.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 5/14, 5:42 PM CT
Mark Teixeira, who missed the last two games with tightness in his back, is penciled into the starting lineup for the Braves on Wednesday in Philadelphia.

Our View: Greg Norton had started for the Braves first baseman in the final game of the Pirates series and the opening game against the Phillies.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 5/14, 7:18 AM CT
Mark Teixeira hopes to play on Wednesday. He tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that his back felt "much better" on Tuesday. Teixeira was forced out of the lineup on Monday due to back spasms.

Our View: Fantasy owners in daily transaction leagues should plan on him being backup, although you'll want to check the lineup cards.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 5/12, 12:44 PM CT
Mark Teixeira was forced out of action in the fourth inning today, apparently due to back spasms, according to the AP. That was the first game of a double-header against Pittsburgh.

Our View: Greg Norton replaced him at first base. The severity of the ailment is yet to be determined, but he is being listed as day-to-day.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 5/10, 8:47 PM CT
The Braves fell 5-2 to the Pittsburgh Pirates today, but 1B Mark Teixeira did his best to change that result. Teixeira went 2-for-3 at the plate with one walk and his fifth home run of the season. The homer was good for two RBIs and provides a much-needed lift for the power-hitting first bagger.

Our View: Teixeira has struggled to put the bat on the ball. This was his first homer since April 20th, though he has improved his eye at the plate, touting eight walks versus just four strike outs through May.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 5/8, 4:47 PM CT
Free agent to be Mark Teixeira went 1-for-4 on Thursday with an RBI and a walk, but he is still batting just .254 on the year.

Our View: Tex may want a $200 million contract this off-season, but unless he starts hitting more like Albert Pujols and less like Lyle Overbay, that contract could remain a pipe dream.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 4/30, 8:18 PM CT
Mark Teixeira continued to improve upon his slow start with two hits in five AB on Wednesday to improve his average to .273.

Our View: Teixeira hasn't gone deep in 10 games, but he does have 17 hits in his last 11 games to raise his average up from .221.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 4/27, 4:00 PM CT
Atlanta 1B Mark Teixeira was one of few bright spots for the Braves' offense in today's 3-6 loss to the New York Mets, going 2-for-4 at the plate with two doubles to post his 17th RBI of the season.

Our View: Teixeira has steadily improved a batting average that was struggling in the early going, posting at least one hit in 13 of his last 15 games, though he has not homered since April 20th.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 4/20, 10:58 PM CT
Mark Teixeira was 3-for-4 and highlighted his day at the plate by hitting a long home run.

Our View: The left-handed hitter continues to find his swing. Tex raised his average to .250 and the home run was his fourth of the young season.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesSaturday 4/19, 6:24 PM CT
Mark Teixeira had two hits and two RBI on Saturday for the Braves.

Our View: Teixeira now has hits in four straight games to raise his average from .204 to .221 which only means that a whole lot of big-time hitting is coming down the pipe for this big-time slugger.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesFriday 4/18, 9:57 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 1-for-5 with a run scored on Friday night be he is still limping along with a .203 average and just seven RBI through 16 games.

Our View: Tex has always been known as a slow starter, but this is ridiculous. Mark is hitting under .150 against left-handed pitching this season, and that is one of the main culprits for his terrible start.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 4/9, 7:25 AM CT
Mark Teixeira went 0-for-3 against Colorado on Tuesday, and is now batting 5-for-32 on the season. At least he has two homers and five RBI.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 4/7, 10:35 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 0-for-3 on Monday night to drop his average to just .172 through 29 AB this season. It's no time to panic if you own Teixeira, though it certainly would be nice to see him produce a few more hits. The good news is that he still has two home runs and five RBI in seven games on the year.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 4/2, 9:45 PM CT
Mark Teixeira started the year 0-for-13 before blasting a home run that helped the Braves to break open a close game in the eighth inning. Teixeira, a top-20 pick in almost all leagues this season, is being counted on to provide at least 30 HR and 100 RBI this season, numbers he has reached in each of the last four years, though the Braves and his owners are certainly hoping for more.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesWednesday 3/26, 3:20 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 2-for-3 with a homer and a double in Wednesday's spring win over the Nationals. His average rose to a robust .216.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 3/25, 7:27 AM CT
Mark Teixeira had a tough day at the plate against Cleveland on Monday as he went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts. His spring average dipped to .188 and hopefully can end spring training on a high note.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesThursday 2/21, 9:01 PM CT
Mark Teixeira is set to become a free agent after the 2008 season, but he isn't worried about that according to a report on the AP. “The most important thing for me this year is getting this team to the playoffs. I’m one piece of the puzzle. For me to worry about contract negotiations and contract talks, that’s going to take away from the team. I’m going to go out there and play the game. If I play the game the way I’m capable of playing, the contract will take care of itself.” Well the Braves should be worried about it even if Tex isn't. In each of the past four seasons Teixeira has hit at least 30 HR with 100 RBI, so there is no doubting his value to whichever ballclub he is on. Toss in the fact that he is just 27-years-old, and you have a guy who is looking at a big fat contract sometime soon.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesFriday 1/18, 10:25 AM CT
The Braves signed Mark Teixeira to a one-year, $12.5 million deal Thursday, avoiding arbitration. GM Frank Wren has also had some good negotiations with Teixeira's agent, Scott Boras, about a possible long-term extension. "I don't know that it signals that, I just know that we'll continue working at [a contract extension]," Wren told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "We've had quite a bit of dialogue." Tex could command as much as $20 million per season when he becomes a free agent after the season, and it seems unlikely the Braves would be willing to reach that numbers, but we'll see.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesTuesday 7/31, 2:17 PM CT
The Braves and Rangers finalized the Mark Teixeira trade on Tuesday, ESPN.com reports. Teixeira and reliever Ron Mahay are headed to Atlanta in exchange for catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, shortstop Elvis Andrus, and three minor league pitchers.
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York YankeesMonday 7/30, 11:46 AM CT

The Angels have essentially given up trying to acquire Mark Teixeira from the Rangers. While the two teams had agreed on Joe Saunders and Casey Kotchman, they were far apart on a third player; the Angels were looking to give up a mid-level prospect, but the Rangers wanted top prospects Brandon Wood, Nick Adenhart or Howie Kendrick, according to the LA Times. The Angels could still get back into the mix, but for now the Braves, Dodgers and possibly the Red Sox are the top contenders to trade for Teixeira.

With a trade for either Jermaine Dye or Paul Konerko becoming less and less likely, the Angels are now focusing all of their attention on Mark Teixeira. Casey Kotchman would be part of any deal for Tex. The Rangers had reportedly wanted Ervin Santana until the struggling right-hander was optioned to Triple-A. It now appears Texas may take Joe Saunders along with Kotchman, but they would also like a third player in the deal, according to the LA Times. If they want that third player to be Brandon Wood or Nick Adenhart, the Angels are unlikely to do the deal. If that third player is Reggie Willits, Nathan Haynes or Terry Evans, the two teams could have a match.
