Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxFriday 6/12, 1:49 PM CT
TSN is reporting that the Chicago White Sox have outrighted Wilson Betemit to Triple-A after he was designated for assignment on June 4. Betemit struggled with the Sox this season, posting a .200 average in 20 games.

Our View: Not a big shocker here. Betemit will work in Triple-A, and he will have to get his power stroke back if he wants to rejoin the Sox at any point this season. He doesn't promise to hold any fantasy value this year, so no need to monitor him while he is in the minors.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 6/3, 11:45 PM CT
The AP reports that Wilson Betemit will be designated for assignment on Thursday in order to make room on the roster for Gordon Beckham.

Our View: Betemit came over from the Yankees in November and open eyes with a power surge throughout spring training. However, he hit only .200 in 20 games this season.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 6/2, 4:10 PM CT
Wilson Betemit is slated to start at third base for tonight's home game against Oakland, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Josh Fields will be riding the pine after striking out three times Monday. He is still hitting fine overall, and Betemit is not replacing him.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 5/13, 10:00 AM CT
Wilson Betemit will serve in the DH role for today's game against the Indians at Progressive Field, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Jim Thome is out of the lineup to rest. Betemit is hitting .281 this season over 32 at-bats and has some power. He is worth consideration for AL-only leagues if you have him on your roster.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 5/10, 10:07 AM CT
Wilson Betemit will get the start at third base on Sunday, according to the Chicago Tribune. Betemit will be playing in place of Josh Fields, who has been struggling as of late.

Our View: Betemit hasn't seen much playing time so far his season, but if Fields doesn't start hitting he could begin to see more. Betemit has no fantasy value at the moment, but if he begins to play on a regular basis that would change.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 3/22, 8:40 PM CT
Wilson Betemit went 2-for-5 with his fifth home run of the spring in Sunday's 12-10 win over Oakland. He struck out once while collecting three RBI and a run scored.

Our View: Betemit played the whole game at first base, and Ozzie Guillen has to like what he's seen of him this spring as he leads the team with 15 RBI. Look for the 27-year-old to command work at corner infield spots and DH this season, and his power could be something special at the Cell. However, he is not worth much more than a very late round flier at this point of the spring.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 3/17, 7:08 PM CT
Wilson Betemit had another strong outing Tuesday, going 3-for-5 with three RBI in a loss to the Diamondbacks. His spring average now stands at .303 and he has racked up 11 RBI.

Our View: Betemit is hitting the ball well this spring and looks to have secured a spot on the Sox's Opening Day roster. He'll likely be a role player, but could step in at DH if Jim Thome falls to injury.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 3/15, 7:06 PM CT
Wilson Betemit blasted his fourth home run of the spring as the White Sox beat the Mariners 15-5 on Sunday. He was 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs scored, and two walks while operating nine innings as the DH.

Our View: Betemit is not hitting often, but he is hitting hard. Four of his seven hits this spring have left the park, and it looks as if he will hold a spot on the White Sox opening day roster. Aside from being a spot DH for Jim Thome, he will likely serve as a utility infielder and the occasional pinch-hitter.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 3/11, 6:45 PM CT
Wilson Betemit started at first base and hit his second home run of the spring on Wednesday as the White Sox beat the Brewers 6-2.

Our View: Betemit should make this team as a corner infielder, but he was terrible last season with the Yankees. He is a poor fielder and an exceptional strike out artist. If he can put last season behind him and earn the starting job at third base, he could be a nice source of power.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxThursday 12/11, 6:29 PM CT
Wilson Betemit has signed a one-year deal to remain with the White Sox, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Betemit didn't have any fantasy value in 2008 and isn't expected to in 2009 either.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxThursday 11/13, 3:19 PM CT
Wilson Betemit will head to Chicago, as he was part of the deal that sent Nick Swisher to the Yankees from the White Sox, according to FoxSports.com.

Our View: Betemit hit a respectable .265 with six home runs in 189 at-bats, but his on-base percentage was a horrific .289, as he walked just six times while striking out 56. He'll likely be a role player for the White Sox, limiting any fantasy value.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 8/13, 3:40 PM CT
Wilson Betemit went 2-for-3 in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to Minnesota. Both of his hits were singles, and accounted for two of the Yankees' five hits in the contest. Alex Rodriguez registered the only extra base hit with a double.

Our View: Betemit started the game at shortstop in place of the injured Derek Jeter. Betemit serves solid depth for the Yankees, like today, but isn't likely going to see enough at-bats the rest of the way to make him a favorable fantasy option.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 6/29, 3:31 PM CT
Wilson Betemit went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and registered the lone RBI in Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Mets.

Our View: He started the game at second base. That was his fourth homer and 12th RBI over 36 outings.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 6/18, 6:52 PM CT
San Diego at New York is in a rain delay, but when the lineup cards were turned in, the Yankees Wilson Betemit was penciled in as the starting first baseman and hitting eighth in the batting order.

Our View: Jason Giambi is the designated hitter and Hideki Matsui has been given a day off.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 6/4, 10:46 PM CT
Wilson Betemit homered off Jesse Litsch helping the Yankees snap a three-game losing streak. Betemit, starting at first base for ailing Jason Giambi (foot), hit a solo homer in the fourth.

Our View: The Yankees projected top reserve has spent time on the disabled list twice this year. In 15 games Betemit is hitting .238 with four RBI, four runs scored and two home runs.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxMonday 5/26, 12:38 PM CT
As expected, Wilson Betemit has been activated from the DL today, according to the ChuckKnoblog.com. To make room on the roster, Alberto Gonzalez has been optioned to Triple-A Scranton.

Our View: Betemit provides the Yankees with a solid infielder off the bench, but he won't get enough at-bats to make a fantasy impact. A-Rod is back at third base, and Jason Giambi is still firmly planted at first base.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxMonday 5/26, 10:21 AM CT
Wilson Betemit is expected to be activated from the DL before today's game against Baltimore, according to the NY Post. He played one last rehab game yesterday for Triple-A Scranton. He has recovered from a strained right hamstring.

Our View: Betemit provides the Yankees with a solid infielder off the bench, but he won't get enough at-bats to make a fantasy impact when he comes back.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxSaturday 5/24, 4:57 PM CT
Wilson Betemit will make another rehab start at Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes-Barre on Saturday and could rejoin the Yankees on Monday, according to the AP. Betemit has been out since May 10 with a strained right hamstring.

Our View: Betemit has managed just 26 at-bats this year due to the hamstring malady and a bad case of pink eye. It sounds like he'll be back on the field soon enough, though.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxFriday 5/23, 4:00 PM CT
Wilson Betemit is off to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to start a rehab assignment on Friday, Newsday reports. The infielder is out due to a strained right hamstring.

Our View: We're not sure how long Betemit will hang out at Triple-A, but we figure the team will want him to play at least five days or so to test the hamstring. Regardless, Betemit has very little fantasy value.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 5/11, 8:44 AM CT
Wilson Betemit was placed on the DL following Saturday's game. He strained his hamstring while legging out a double. Alberto Gonzalez was called up from Triple-A to take his roster spot, the New York Post confirms.

Our View: Look for Morgan Ensberg to benefit in the very short term, as the Yanks are without both Betemit and Alex Rodriguez. The superstar isn't too far away from returning, though.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxSaturday 5/10, 5:23 PM CT
Yankee infielder Wilson Betemit has left today's game against the Detroit Tigers, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Facing RHP Jeremy Bonderman, Betemit doubled over the head of the CF Curtis Granderson and pulled up lame rounding 1st base. He made it to second, called time, and was helped off the field by trainers. Betemit was replaced by Morgan Ensberg. We will update as news becomes available.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 5/7, 9:31 AM CT

Wilson Betemit will be activated from the DL and start at third base on Tuesday night, the New York Daily News reports. He has been out for two weeks due to a case of pink eye.

Our View: Betemit has a little bit of fantasy value in the near future, as Alex Rodriguez remains out. Wilson will platoon at third base with Morgan Ensberg.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 4/30, 11:05 AM CT
Wilson Betemit will begin a minor league rehab assignment tomorrow for Triple-A Scranton, according to the NY Daily News. He is on the DL recovering from conjunctivitis.

Our View: He is expected to share time with Morgan Ensberg at third base when he returns. Alex Rodriguez was unable to shake his quad ailment, and landed on the DL. Betemit could provide solid depth at third base for the Yankees, but won't likely get enough at-bats to make an impact on your fantasy squad.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxMonday 4/14, 1:20 PM CT
Wilson Betemit has been placed on the 15-day DL due to a bad case of pink eye, according to the NY Post. His move to the DL freed up a roster spot for catcher Chad Moeller, who has been called up to serve as insurance while Jorge Posada and Jose Molina battle their injuries.

Our View: Betemit held limited fantasy value, as he only had 13 at-bats so far this season, with a pair of hits.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 4/8, 3:11 PM CT
Wilson Betemit got the start at shortstop today in place of the injured Derek Jeter, according to the SportsNetwork. The Yankees' utility man only has one hit over nine at-bats so far this season.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxThursday 3/20, 3:44 PM CT
Wilson Betemit went 2-for-4 with three RBI against the Blue Jays on Thursday, with one of his hits good for his third homer of the spring. He continues to battle for a top bench job, and today's effort will help.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 7/31, 11:22 AM CT
The Dodgers and Yankees have agreed on a trade that will send Wilson Betemit to New York in exchange for Scott Proctor, according to ESPN.com. Betemit, who is hitting .231 with 10 homers in 156 at-bats this year, will provide the Yankees with some infield versatility, and he could take over at third base in 2008 assuming Alex Rodriguez opts out of his contract.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxWednesday 7/18, 10:05 AM CT
The Yankees are looking to acquire Wilson Betemit from the Dodgers in exchange for reliever Scott Proctor, according to the New York Post. The Dodgers have had scouts at recent Yankee games to look at Proctor and other members of the bullpen. The Yankees must like Betemit’s ability to play multiple positions and his 10 homers in 140 at-bats because it can’t be his .221 average that appeals to them.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxMonday 5/14, 10:03 PM CT
Dodgers manager Grady Little said that Wilson Betemit and Andy LaRoche will split time at third base for the time being, according to the AP. It's a situation where we've got a couple good players there and both will get a lot of playing time," Little said. Betemit, who received his second straight start on Monday night, is hitting just .164 with two homers and nine RBI on the year.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxTuesday 5/8, 10:12 AM CT
Wilson Betemit has been taking grounders at shortstop and second base in addition to third in order to increase his versatility, according to the LA Times. Betemit, who is hitting just .153 on the year, expects to get most of his at-bats in the future as a reserve - but he's not happy about it. "I don't like that type of role. I don't like coming off the bench," he said. "It's difficult to play coming off the bench. Everybody knows that. But lamentably they made the decision to use me that way and there's nothing I can do."
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 5/6, 7:01 AM CT
Having struck out in half of his previous dozen at-bats, and carrying a .140 batting average, Wilson Betemit was not in the starting lineup yesterday, according to the LA Times. In fact, manager Grady Little said he wasn't sure when, or if, Betemit would get his job back. "It's a day-to-day thing, that part of the lineup," Little said. "At this point I can only speak for the manager, who is me. I'm looking for whatever can give us the best opportunity to win." Ramon Martinez and Wilson Valdez aren't pushing Betemit very hard, plus Betemit hit a homer as a pinch-hitter on Saturday, so he still has a chance to turn things around.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 4/29, 9:37 PM CT
Wilson Betemit was considered available to play Sunday against San Diego, though he didn't get into the extra inning game. Grady Little told the Dodgers official site before the game that he plans to use Betemit against Arizona Monday. Betemit was out Saturday due to food poisoning.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 4/29, 7:15 AM CT
Wilson Betemit missed Saturday's game because he was throwing up beforehand, according to the LA Times. It's not clear what caused his stomach to churn, though his .133 batting average hasn't been ruled out. His ongoing struggles have left the Dodgers considering other options at third base, but luckily for Betemit, they don't have many.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxFriday 4/27, 8:54 AM CT
Wilson Betemit was moved up to the No. 7 slot in the order Thursday, in part because he's not comfortable in the eighth position, the Los Angeles Times reports. Betemit is 3-for-25 when batting eighth this season; he went 1-for-3 with a run scored Thursday. "I was glad to see the lineup card because batting eighth, they aren't going to throw you anything with the pitcher coming up next," he said. "It's a different look. Having a left-handed hitter (Andre Ethier) behind me could help too."
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxSunday 3/4, 6:57 PM CT
Wilson Betemit's spring has gotten off to a rough start, as he's 0-for-7 at the plate and has yet to hit a ball out of the infield, according to the AP. Betemit is slated to be the Dodgers' starting third baseman this year, but he'll have to earn his keep with top prospect Andy LaRoche waiting in the wings.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxThursday 8/10, 7:00 AM CT
Wilson Betemit was given Wednesday off in part because he was hitting .111 against left-handed starters and partly because he had played nine straight games since coming over from the Braves, according to the LA Times. "This guy, Wilson Betemit, he's never played every day in his life over there in Atlanta, and since he got here he's been on the field the whole time, so he deserves a break," manager Grady Little said. Julio Lugo started in place of Betemit at the hot corner and probably will do so the remainder of the season against left-handed starters.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxFriday 7/28, 10:34 PM CT
The Dodgers acquired Wilson Betemit from the Braves Friday in exchange for reliever Danys Baez and infielder Willy Aybar, according to the AP. Betemit, who hit .281 with nine homers and 29 RBI with Atlanta, will take over as the Dodgers starting third baseman.
Wilson Betemit, 1B, Chicago White SoxThursday 7/27, 8:08 AM CT
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Braves are discussing a deal that would send Wilson Betemit to the Yankees in exchange for reliever Scott Proctor. However, the Yanks may be hesitant to deal Proctor in light of recent setbacks for Octavio Dotel.
