Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 12/15, 10:25 AM CT
The Dodgers have dealt Juan Pierre to the White Sox for two players to be named later, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View: The Dodgers had been shopping Pierre all offseason given their loaded outfield and finally found a suitor, though they'll have to take care of about half of the $18.5 million he's due to be paid over the next two years. With Scott Podsednik a free agent and likely on his way out of Chicago, look for Pierre to fill Podsednik's role from last season in the outfield while also leading off the lineup and being quite active on the base paths.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 12/7, 7:19 PM CT
Were the Dodgers to trade Juan Pierre this offseason, they would like pitching in return, according to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times.

Our View: With L.A.'s outfield already set for 2010 with three sluggers, Pierre again would have no position were he to stay in Southern California. A contact-hitting 32 year old, he wouldn't command a signififcant package in return, but his speed could probably garner L.A. a solid reliever or back-end starter.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 12/6, 8:20 PM CT
Three or four teams are apparently interested in trading for Juan Pierre, according to Yahoo Sports' Steve Henson.

Our View: Pierre has always been an efficient source of speed, and with the Dodgers' outfield already filled with three starters, it'd make sense for them to move Pierre for some value.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 10/4, 8:16 PM CT
Juan Pierre shined once again with Many Ramirez out of the lineup. He went 2-for-5 and stole two bases in the Dodgers 5-3 win over the Rockies on Sunday.

Our View: Pierre now has 30 steals for the year, marking the ninth time he's had at least that many in a season. He also finishes 2009 with a .308 average. Not bad for a guy who supposedly didn't have a job at the beginning of the season.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 10/4, 12:34 AM CT
Juan Pierre sparked the offense for the Dodgers on Saturday in their division-clinching 5-0 win over the Rockies. He went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.

Our View: Pierre lost most of his fantasy value when Manny Ramirez returned from his 50-game suspension, but he's been invaluable to the Dodgers all season. The RBI was his 31st and the steal was his 28th.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 6/27, 10:25 AM CT
According to the LA Times, Juan Pierre will get one to two starts a week in center field when Manny Ramirez returns to the lineup.

Our View: This obviously means Pierre's fantasy value will take a huge hit. The Dodgers were clear that they don't intend to trade him, so it may be time to start shopping for another outfielder.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 6/24, 8:24 AM CT
The Dodgers have no interest in trading outfielder Juan Pierre, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Our View: Pierre is due to head back to the bench once Manny Ramirez returns from his 50-game suspension. GM Ned Colletti says the team is interested in acquiring a pitcher, though. He did not specify reliever or starter.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 6/21, 10:33 PM CT
Juan Pierre led the Dodgers offensively in Sunday's 5-3 win at the Angels, as he went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. He hit two doubles and a single, and also swiped a base.

Our View: Pierre raised his team-high batting average to .337, and also leads the club with 17 stolen bases. He extended his hitting streak to five games, and has five total hits over his last two.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 6/12, 11:41 PM CT
Juan Pierre went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles in Friday's 6-0 loss at Texas.

Our View: The Rangers had eight hits in the game. Pierre collected his third multi-hit game of June, and raised his team-leading average to .351.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 6/10, 11:02 AM CT
Despite his .352 average, good for second in the National League, Dodgers manager Joe Torre said on Tuesday that Juan Pierre will return to the bench when suspended slugger Manny Ramirez returns to the lineup according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

Our View: Torre said he envisions Pierre playing about twice a week to spell either Manny, Matt Kemp or Andre Ethier once Ramirez returns. Bad news for Pierre fantasy owners, but likely good news for the Dodgers.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 6/7, 11:05 PM CT
Juan Pierre was 2-for-5 with a double in the Dodgers' 7-2 loss to the Phillies on Sunday.

Our View: Pierre has been a godsend for the Dodgers while Manny's been out of the lineup. The speedy leadoff man is the catalyst for the Dodger offense and has his average up to .360. Sunday's outing gave him a four-game hitting streak.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 5/26, 11:25 PM CT
Juan Pierre continued his torrid stretch on Tuesday with a 3-for-5 night that included a triple, two runs scored and a pair of RBI in the Dodgers' 7-1 win over the Rockies.

Our View: Pierre is now hitting .394 with 18 RBI and is making life for Dodger fans much more bearable since Manny went out with his suspension. Play him in all formats. He's hot.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 5/25, 7:35 PM CT
Juan Pierre was 2-for-6 with a triple, three RBI, and two runs scored in the Dodgers 16-6 win in Colorado on Monday.

Our View: Pierre has been a hitting machine at the top of the Dodgers order. He is 40-for-104 this season and has been a strong pickup in fantasy leagues. He has more stolen bases (9) than strikeouts (7). It remains to be seen what his role will be, and even who his team will be, following the return of Manny Ramirez.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 5/24, 8:41 PM CT
Juan Pierre was 2-for-4 and swiped two bases in Sunday's 10-7 loss to the Angels.

Our View: Pierre has been incredible since seeing consistent playing time with Manny Ramirez serving his suspension. The Dodger leadoff man is hitting .388 and has chipped in with 11 RBI and nine steals. He's a fine fantasy fill-in until Ramirez returns.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 5/17, 3:44 PM CT
Juan Pierre went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 12-5 win at Florida. He hit two doubles and a single.

Our View: Pierre remains hot as he collected three hits in back-to-back games, and has eight hits and five RBI over his last three games. He is not in the same class as Manny Ramirez, but is doing a fine job while replacing him in the Dodgers' outfield. Pierre is worth scooping up if still dangling on the waiver wire in fantasy leagues.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 5/16, 8:55 PM CT
Juan Pierre went 3-for-5 with a triple and three runs scored in the Dodgers' 5-3 loss to the Marlins on Saturday.

Our View: Pierre has performed admirably since taking over for the suspended Manny Ramirez, and he continued his solid play today. Pierre is always a threat to steal bases and score runs, so he could be useful in all leagues until Manny returns.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 5/10, 8:18 PM CT
Juan Pierre went 3-for-5 for the second straight game as the Dodgers lost to the Giants 7-5 on Sunday. He scored three times, hit a double, stole a base, and drew a walk in the game.

Our View: Since replacing Manny Ramirez in the starting lineup, Pierre is 9-for-16 with four RBI, four runs scored, and two stolen bases. Count yourself lucky if you were the first to get to him in your league.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 5/9, 6:05 PM CT
Juan Pierre was 3-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored in the Dodgers' 8-0 win over the Giants on Saturday.

Our View: The only person in LA who doesn't miss Manny is Juan Pierre. He'll see increased playing time with Manny out for 50 games due to his steroid suspension and it looks like he's already making the most of it. His fantasy stock arrow is now pointing up.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 5/7, 11:00 AM CT
Juan Pierre will likely see more action in the Dodgers' outfield with Manny Ramirez facing a 50-game suspension for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

Our View: Pierre's fantasy stock rises following this development, as he was hitting .355 over 31 at-bats this season. Pierre is worth acquiring if you need help or depth in your roto-outfield.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 4/29, 8:21 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Juan Pierre is batting ninth in Wednesday's game. Manager Joe Torre wants to utilize his speed in front of Rafael Furcal.

Our View: The move also allows three position players to hit in front of Manny Ramirez. Pierre has only registered 16 at bats this season, and if he ever found regular work, he would be a fantasy factor.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 4/11, 8:08 PM CT
According to the Los Angeles Daily News, Juan Pierre will get his first start of the season on Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

Our View: Pierre's season debut means that one of LA's starting outfielders will sit. Joe Torre has said that Manny will be in the lineup, so that means Andre Ethier or Matt Kemp will be the odd man out.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 3/14, 8:05 PM CT
Juan Pierre was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run scored, and two stolen bases as the Dodgers defeated the Brewers 7-3 on Saturday.

Our View: Pierre looks like he will once again be the fourth outfielder in Los Angeles this season. Most places, he would probably have a starting job. His speed continues to make him a fantasy factor as he recorded 40 stolen bases in 2008 with just 375 at-bats.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 3/7, 10:22 PM CT
Juan Pierre went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI and a stolen base against Seattle on Saturday.

Our View: Not a bad response since apparently being put on the trading block following the Dodgers' re-signing of Manny Ramirez, bumping Pierre out of an everyday role. He'd still have plenty of value as one of the game's premier base-stealers if he can land an everyday gig somewhere else.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 3/5, 1:18 PM CT
According to MLB.com the addition of Manny Ramirez has once again landed Juan Pierre on the trading block. Pierre is aging and is still owed over $28 million, so it may be difficult to find an interested party.

Our View: Pierre, hitless this spring, is still valuable for stolen bases, but would be a more promising player with a trade to a team where he can start consistently.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 3/4, 11:33 PM CT
Juan Pierre went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Wednesday's Cactus League game for the Dodgers.

Our View: Pierre is hitless so far this spring. The bright side of this fact for Dodgers fans is that the role of Juan Pierre will be played by Manny Ramirez starting next week.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 2/15, 1:50 PM CT
MLB.com points out that even though Juan Pierre is penciled in as the team's starting leftfielder, he fully understands that he will be the team's fourth outfielder if Manny Ramirez is re-signed. But he's not very happy about it. "Last year, it seemed the organization was going in another way, it wanted more power and I kind of feel I'm in the way a little," he said. "It's a tough spot for both sides. I think [a trade] would have helped both sides. It would have made sense. But I know the market changed last year. Other teams might not want me. Just be straight with me and I'm cool..I know the whole Manny situation. I'm a fan of baseball. It's a tough spot. For the betterment of the team last year I kept my mouth shut. The team was winning. Whatever they needed me to do, I did it. I really don't want that role again."

Our View: We would like to see Pierre get an everyday opportunity somewhere, but his three-year, $28 million contract is very difficult to move. In the unlikely event that Ramirez signs elsewhere, Pierre's value in 5x5 leagues would skyrocket.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 12/10, 6:01 PM CT
The Los Angeles Times reports that the New York Mets GM Omar Minaya knocked down rumors that his team had any interest in Juan Pierre, as was previously reported.

Our View: The Dodgers have too many outfielders and Juan Pierre is left on the bench too often to warrant the $28.5 million left on his contract. There's no doubt they would like to have him moved, but it will likely be very difficult.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 12/10, 12:03 PM CT
The Mets have garnered in Dodgers' outfielder Juan Pierre, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Our View: The Dodgers would have to absorb a sizable amount of Pierre's salary for him to land with the Mets. He is owed $10 million in 2009, $10 million in 2010 and $8.5 million in 2011. The Dodgers don't want to move him until they see where they stand with Manny Ramirez. The Mets are looking for a left-handed hitter, but Pierre bats primarily from the right side, which questions how serious they may be in Pierre.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 10/17, 9:06 AM CT
The Los Angeles Times reports that the Dodgers may try to trade Juan Pierre in the offseason. Pierre just finished the second year of a five-year, $44 million deal sitting on the bench, first nudged out of center field by Andruw Jones, then out of the lineup by Ramirez.

Our View: His steep contract will make it very difficult to trade him. With an everyday job, though, Pierre can make a splash in fantasy leagues, namely because of his high stolen base rate.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 10/16, 7:29 PM CT
Dodgers outfielder Juan Pierre has requested that the team trade him to a club where he will see more playing time, according to MLB.com. "He has no hard feelings toward anybody. But his preference would be a trade to a team with more playing time than he currently gets. He'll drop any no-trade clause he has to make that happen. Maybe there's a better fit," said Pierre's agent, Mark Pieper.

Our View: With three years and $28.5 million remaining on Pierre's contract, it may be difficult for the team to trade him without eating a significant part of that salary. Considering they are still paying Andruw Jones a hefty sum, they might not be willing to do that. And their return on a one-dimensional player with a big contract would be very small, no matter what.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 9/16, 5:42 PM CT
Juan Pierre will get the start again on Tuesday night but Joe Torre has said that Matt Kemp will be his regular in centerfield and will start the next two games according to the Daily News.

Our View: Pierre hit his first home run of the season on Monday to go with two more singles. He remains a great weapon off the bench for the Dodgers but remains too much of a headache for fantasy owners to hold onto him.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 9/15, 9:09 PM CT
Juan Pierre flexed his muscles on Monday night. The outfielder smacked his first home run since September 18, 2006 in the 8-2 win over the Pirates. Pierre also had two singles and finished the night with three run.

Our View: Pierre might not have been playing if Andre Ethier wasn't away for the birth of his child. Way to take advantage. Pierre is now only 749 homers shy of tying Barry Bonds.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 9/6, 11:16 AM CT
Juan Pierre indicated he has recovered from a tight back that forced him to make an early exit from Tuesday's game, according to the LA Times.

Our View: Pierre doesn't get regular at-bats, but should remain a favorable source of steals (38) through September.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 8/20, 6:54 PM CT
Juan Pierre will lead off and play center field for the Dodgers against the Rockies Wednesday, even though Colorado is putting lefty Jeff Francis on the mound, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

Our View: Tonight is a great night to put Pierre in your fantasy lineup. He is not only hitting .354 against lefties this year, but in his career against Francis, Pierre is hitting .481 (13-for-27).
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 8/1, 8:57 PM CT
Juan Pierre will take over in center field for the Dodgers for Andrew Jones, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. Manny Ramirez will take over in left field with Matt Kemp moving to right.

Our View: This means that Andre Ethier and Andrew Jones will serve as possibly the two most talented backup outfielders in the National League. Well, Maybe just Ethier.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 7/25, 6:15 PM CT
Juan Pierre was activated from the 15-day disabled list today, after suffering from a sprained left knee, according to The Sports Network.

Our View: If you were waiting for the stolen bases Pierre provides, go ahead and re-insert him in your fantasy lineup.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 7/23, 8:54 AM CT
Juan Pierre has made rapid progress in his recovery from a sprained ligament in his left knee, and manager Joe Torre mentioned that he could be back with the Dodgers as soon as Saturday, according to the LA Times.

Our View: Joe Torre noted that he will have some decisions to make regarding the Dodgers' outfield when Pierre returns, as Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier have made great strides, and he doesn't want to make Andruw Jones a part-time player (due namely to his lucrative contract).
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 7/22, 12:43 PM CT
Juan Pierre is close to returning to the Dodgers as he is expected to be sent on a rehab assignment this week, according to the LA Times. He could be with triple-A Las Vegas before the Dodgers start their next homestand Friday.

Our View: His rehab assignment is expected to last no longer than three games, putting him on track to return to the Dodgers at some point in early August.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 7/20, 10:10 AM CT
The LA Times reports that Juan Pierre is ahead of schedule in his rehab from a sprained ligament in his left knee. Though Pierre was expected to need six weeks to recover, skipper Joe Torre said that he could be playing in the next couple of weeks with the Dodgers or in the minors on a rehab assignment.

Our View: Pierre started jogging over the All-Star break and had a rigorous workout on Saturday, sprinting and catching balls on the run in the outfield at Chase Field. It looks like he will be back at some point in early August.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 7/7, 8:53 AM CT
Juan Pierre, who is recovering from a sprained ligament in his left knee, has started walking without crutches, according to the LA Times.

Our View: Pierre is making favorable progress, but is not expected back before the end of July.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 6/30, 4:00 PM CT
Juan Pierre has been placed on the 15-day DL due to a sprained ligament in his left knee, according to the AP. The team recalled outfielder Jason Repko from Triple-A Las Vegas to fill the open spot on the roster.

Our View: His loss weakens the speed of the Dodgers as he racked up 35 stolen bases over 73 games. This is his first trip to the DL over his nine-year career.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 6/29, 11:54 PM CT
The Los Angeles Times confirms that Juan Pierre remained in town on Sunday night and will undergo an MRI on his left knee. The team traveled to Houston, but Pierre won't join them until the results are known. "Obviously, for him to come out of a ballgame, it's more than just a bruise, you would think," manager Joe Torre explains.

Our View: We'll update Pierre's status as soon as more is known. Delwyn Young would likely start in left field if Pierre were to miss more time.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 6/29, 6:16 PM CT
Juan Pierre injured his left leg during Sunday's loss to the Angels. He suffered the ailment when sliding into second base, and he left after grabbing his knee. Pierre will likely undergo an MRI on Monday, MLB.com reports.

Our View: If Pierre is out for a while, the Dodgers could use Delwyn Young or Mark Sweeney in the outfield. We'll update his status when more is known.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 6/29, 2:34 PM CT
Juan Pierre is going to remain in the Dodgers' outfield, even after Andruw Jones returns to action, according to the LA Daily News. Manager Joe Torre said, "Pierre has been that consistent guy for us every day, and he refuses to acknowledge any bumps or bruises, even though you know he has them. Juan is going to be our left fielder, and Andruw will be our center fielder."

Our View: So when Jones returns, Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp will be battling for playing time in right field. Pierre deserves to play every day as he is hitting .277 with 24 RBI, 30 runs scored, and 34 stolen bases over 72 games. Five of his stolen bases have come over his last four games.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 6/26, 5:38 PM CT
Juan Pierre continued to run on Thursday as he swiped two bases against the White Sox giving him 32 steals on the year.

Our View: For all the talk of Pierre being a fourth outfielder this year, Pierre is on pace to swipe more than 60 bases for just the second time in five seasons. Even when Andruw Jones is healthy, look for Pierre to receive enough AB to continue to be a valuable addition to any fantasy roster.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 6/22, 8:37 PM CT
Juan Pierre continued his solid work at the plate for the Dodgers with three hits and a run scored, and he used his legs to score a run and steal his 29th base of the season on Sunday.

Our View: When Rafael Furcal returns to the lineup Pierre could find himself hitting second or at the bottom of the order, but either way he should continue to pile up the strikeouts as he has once again established himself as worthy of being a full time starter just as he has been since the 2001 season.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 6/8, 10:21 PM CT
The Dodgers have taken the 3-1 loss in today's MLB nightcap against the Cubs, posting just four total hits in a lackluster homefield effort. The star of the night for LA was outfielder Juan Pierre , going 2-for-4 with his eighth double of the season, the only extra-base hit the Dodgers posted. Pierre added his 23rd stolen bases of the season as well as one run scored.

Our View: Pierre is holding steady, hitting .286 through June after posting the same average through May. However, this is his first stolen base in eight games.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 6/4, 12:17 AM CT
The Dodgers found struggle this evening, taking the 2-0 loss from the Colorado Rockies with a grand total of six hits posted by the entire team. Leadoff man Juan Pierre was the lone voice of offense, going 2-for-4 on the night, including his seventh double of the season.

Our View: Unfortunately, Pierre was also caught stealing (his fifth time being caught this season) and was picked off at second base after that double.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 5/26, 8:23 PM CT
Juan Pierre went 2-for-4 and recorded the lone Dodgers run-batted-in on Monday. Pierre was the odd man out when the team signed free agent Andruw Jones (knee) this past offseason.

Our View: Pierre has once again become fantasy relevant as an everyday outfielder in place of the injured Jones.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 5/21, 12:02 AM CT
The Dodgers relied heavily on pitching to get the job done in their 4-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds, but leadoff man outfielder Juan Pierre may be worthy of note as the team's offensive force of reckoning. Pierre went 1-for-4 with a single, driving in one RBI with one run scored and one stolen base (his 18th of the season).

Our View: Pierre started the season fighting for consideration from new manager Joe Torre, but he seems to have settled in and is now hitting .285 and is once again serving as one of the most dangerous men on the base paths this season.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 5/18, 10:07 PM CT
Juan Pierre had a hit, a run and a SB from his customary leadoff spot for the Dodgers on Sunday.

Our View: Pierre is up to 16 SB and is clearly on pace for his customary 50 steals even though he has been in and out of the lineup so far this year. In a related note, Andruw Jones went 0-for-4 with three K and is hitting .167.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 5/14, 10:27 PM CT
It wasn't pretty, but the Dodgers scored three in the top of the ninth to emerge victorious over the Milwaukee Brewers 6-4. The catalyst for that surge came from leadoff man LF Juan Pierre , going 3-for-5 at the dish with his fifth double of the season, his 14th stolen base of the campaign thus far, and a total of three RBIs and one runs scored in the win.

Our View: Pierre has had to fight for consideration but is showing well in May, already matching his hit total for April (13) through 11 games with seven stolen bases and just one strikeout this month.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 5/1, 2:40 PM CT
Juan Pierre had a strong outing while replacing Andruw Jones in the starting lineup on Thursday, as he went 2-for-3 with two RBI in a 5-3 win over Florida.

Our View: Pierre has 10 RBI over 20 games. He is worth scooping up if you have Andruw Jones on your roster.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 4/22, 3:53 PM CT
Juan Pierre will start tonight over Andruw Jones, according to InsideSoCal.com. He will bat eighth in the Dodgers' lineup.

Our View: Pierre is hitting 11-for-39 with six RBI and five stolen bases over 14 games (with only two strikeouts), and is worth handcuffing if you have Andruw Jones on your roster.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 4/18, 9:59 PM CT
Juan Pierre didn't start on Friday night, but he entered the game late, went 1-for-1 with an RBI, and stole his third base of the season.

Our View: Pierre is now hitting .303 overall thanks to a nine hits in his last 18 AB. With Andruw Jones hitting .167, things continue to be interesting in the Dodgers outfield.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 4/16, 9:09 AM CT
Juan Pierre is expected to start in left field over Andre Ethier on Wednesday, according to the LA Times. Manager Torre wants to give Ethier a day off.

Our View: Pierre has seven hits over 28 at-bats, with three RBI and two stolen bases, and would make a favorable fantasy option for today if you have him on your roster.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 4/9, 2:56 PM CT
Juan Pierre is back in the starting lineup at left field for today's game against Arizona, according to the LA Daily News. Matt Kemp will replace Andruw Jones in center field, and Andre Ethier will handle right field. Pierre is only hitting .067 over 15 at-bats, so Manager Torre is batting him eighth in the order.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 4/7, 11:38 PM CT
Juan Pierre had another rough night on Monday as he went 0-for-4 to drop his average to .067 in 15 AB this season. Joe Torre keeps trying to give Pierre the chance to hit his way out of his current slump, but it's just not happening as it's clear to all that Pierre is pressing. If we had to guess we would look for Matt Kemp to get back in the lineup here the next couple of days.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 4/7, 5:37 PM CT
Juan Pierre is making his third straight start over Matt Kemp on Monday, this according to the Los Angeles Daily News. Pierre is batting eighth in the order limiting his runs scored potential, but he can run just as easily from that spot as at the top of the order. As for Matt Kemp owners this is extremely distressing news as he now appears to be behind both Pierre and Andre Ethier for playing time in the Dodgers outfield.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 4/5, 6:27 PM CT
Juan Pierre started in left field and batted seventh as the Dodgers had Matt Kemp on the bench because of his struggles, this according to MLB.com. "Kemp's struggling," manager Joe Torre said. "The game speeds up and he's just impatient. He's an intelligent kid...He'll play most of the time. I didn't think Jake Peavy was a good matchup for him." Kemp, who is only 2-for-15 on the year, still managed to receive praise from his manager even while being benched. Given that Pierre went 0-for-3 with a strikeout against Peavy, he certainly didn't do anything to force the Dodgers hand.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 4/1, 8:24 PM CT
Juan Pierre started in left field and hit seventh for the Dodgers Tuesday. Andre Ethier played right field and Matt Kemp was on the bench. Manager Joe Torre said that Pierre was going to be a "regular bench player," but it's looking like he will still get his fair share of starts.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 3/30, 6:29 PM CT
Juan Pierre is going to ride the pine on opening day, according to InsideLocal.com. Andre Ethier has won the starting job in LF and Joe Torre stated, "Pierre is disappointed. You don't want a guy sitting on your bench who just accepts being on the bench. JP will be a regular bench player, pinch hitting, etc. Before it's all said and done, we're going to get contributions from a lot of people." Pierre will obviously plummet down draft boards with today's news, but could regain his job at some point if Ethier struggles.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 3/23, 7:54 PM CT
Juan Pierre, fighting Andre Ethier for the starting job in left field, went hitless in four at-bats. Pierre is now hitting .188 on the spring while Ethier checks in with a solid .344. Pierre owners must come to grips with the fact that the light hitting, poor defensive speedster, won't see but 400 at-bats this year, at best.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 3/21, 6:55 PM CT
Juan Pierre met with manager Joe Torre to discuss his standing in the Dodgers outfield, this according to MLB.com. "I asked him to be patient with me," Torre said. "When we got Andruw [Jones], nobody talked to him. I wanted to go out of my way to let him know what my thinking was." It appears that the team is uncertain whether it will lean toward Pierre or Andre Either in LF at the start of the season which means that Pierre has become a huge fantasy question mark. He hasn't done anything wrong and continues to be a .290 hitting 50+ SB threat, but with no power and poor defensive skills, his days as a starter in LA may be at an end.

Juan Pierre walked three times in three plate appearances on Wednesday, and stole two bases against the Reds pitching staff. The supposed battle in left field between Pierre and Andre Ethier (who homered for the third time this spring) has been intriguing, and diminished Pierre's fantasy value, but all indications point to the veteran speedster winning the job. Look for Pierre to be the club’s opening day leadoff-hitting left-fielder.

Juan Pierre had two hits and stole his fourth base of the preseason for the Dodgers on Thursday. Pierre is playing like his job is on the line, and since it is, his work thus far is proving to Joe Torre that he isn't ready to be a backup OF just yet.

The A's have shot down a rumor that they may be interested in trading for Juan Pierre, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. This is not surprising given that the rumor made very little sense.
Juan Pierre, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 3/4, 9:05 AM CT
The A's have apparently reached out to the Dodgers about a possible trade for Juan Pierre, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Pierre is competing with Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier for a staring job in LA. This really doesn't make sense. The A's are in rebuilding mode and would be silly to take on Pierre's contract unless the Dodgers were willing to pick up a big portion of it. Pierre isn't a Billy Beane-type player, either, with his refusal to draw walks. We're betting that there's not much substance here.

Juan Pierre says he wants to remain in LA, but he also hinted that he would be fine with waiving his no-trade clause if it appears that he wouldn't be starting, according to the LA Times. "I know I'm going to go out to try to bust my tail to make myself better as well as the team," Pierre said. "At the end of the day, hopefully, they could see that I could benefit the team. And, if not, it's one of those situations where they might get rid of me or something." Pierre will compete with Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier for a staring job.

Juan Pierre is OK with moving to LF with Andruw Jones now in the fold, but he is not OK about possibly losing his starting gig according to a report on MLB.com. "I'm no dummy. He's won 10 Gold Gloves and they got him to play center field and I have no choice but to move and do the best job I can...All I can do is play hard. I'm close to Kemp and Ethier. There's no rift with any of them. I wish everybody the best. At the end of the day, we have to see a benefit to the team." At this point we just don't know how the playing time will be dished out, but given the fact that Pierre has no power, he needs all the AB he can generate in order to up his run scored and SB totals. Stay tuned.

Juan Pierre, who showed up early to Dodgers Spring Training, declined to discuss his starting status in left field with the national media. The LA Daily News reports that "Torre said hello to Pierre but didn't address the left field matter with him beyond what the two discussed over the telephone this winter." It looks more and more like Pierre will compete with Andre Ethier for the starting gig. The report noted that Torre admits he prefers veteran players. Currently, most media outlets list Pierre as the team's starter, but the popular fantasy option must lock down the everyday job if owners are to depend on the speedy outfielder for his stolen base contribution.

He also moved Russell Martin up to the five-hole. "Changing our lineup doesn't necessarily have anything to with anyone's non-production in a certain spot. It was for the sole purpose of giving the entire lineup a different look and see if it makes a difference," Little told the AP.
