Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersFriday 11/13, 3:47 PM CT
Jack Wilson has signed a two-year deal to stay with the Seattle Mariners, according to Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse.

Our View: Wilson hit just .224 in 31 games for Seattle last season after coming over at midseason from Pittsburgh, but is still a capable shortstop, and should be a nice bat at the bottom of the Mariners lineup.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 9/29, 11:07 PM CT
Jack Wilson has been shut down for the remainder of 2009 with his bruised heel, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Wilson was sporting a limp today, and the Mariners decided to end his season.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSaturday 9/19, 9:59 PM CT
MLB.com reports that shortstop Jack Wilson is in danger of missing the rest of the regular season with a bruised heel.

Our View: Wilson injured the heel while running out a bunt hit last week and is not improving. Still, fantasy leagues won't miss him as he's hitting just .224 with one homer and eight RBI since joining the Mariners.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/16, 8:21 PM CT
Jack Wilson is day-to-day with a bruised heel, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He was forced to leave the team's game on Tuesday after awkwardly stepping on first base. With Wilson sporting just a .224 average since coming to Seattle, this isn't huge fantasy news at this point.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 9/10, 11:49 AM CT
Jack Wilson missed the Mariners' Wednesday night game against the Angels with a case of the flu, according to MLB.com. His status for Thursday's game is unknown at this time.

Our View: Wilson was sent back to the hotel last night to rest, and the team will announce his status for tonight's game at some point later this afternoon. We will keep you updated, but expect him to get another day off unless he is feeling 100 percent.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 8/24, 6:49 PM CT
Jack Wilson is in tonight's lineup against Oakland at Safeco Field, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View: He has been on the shelf since August 12 with a hamstring ailment, and will bat eighth in the order tonight. He is only hitting .222 over 45 at-bats as a member of the Mariners.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 8/18, 5:20 PM CT
Jack Wilson remains out of Seattle's lineup for tonight's game at Detroit, according to MLBblogs.com. He is still dealing with a tight left hamstring.

Our View: The veteran remains day-to-day. Josh Wilson will make another start at shortstop in his absence.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 8/17, 10:35 AM CT
Mariners' shortstop Jack Wilson is expected to be out until Wednesday with a Grade 1 tear in his left hamstring, according to MLB.com. Wilson has missed the last four games with the injury.

Our View: Wilson may be able to return on Tuesday, but it seems more likely that he will be out until Wednesday. The M's would like to get him back on the field as soon as possible, but they won't rush him since he does have a tear in the hammy.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 7/30, 5:00 PM CT
Jack Wilson will be in the Mariners' lineup on Thursday for the first time since being traded to the team on Wednesday, according to the Seattle Times. Wilson will play shortstop and bat seventh for Seattle tonight.

Our View: The M's will get their first look at their new shortstop tonight, so fantasy owners who have Wilson as their regular starter should feel free to get him in tonight. Wilson is hitting .267 on the season, but it remains to be seen how the move to a new league will affect his overall performance.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersWednesday 7/29, 11:54 AM CT
Updating a previous report, the Pirates have traded Jack Wilson and pitcher Ian Snell to the Mariners for Jeff Clement, Ronny Cedeno, Aaron Pribanic, Brett Lorin and Nathan Adcock according to beat writer Dejean Kovacevic' Twitter account.

Our View: It appears the Pirates have finally made a good trade. Clement is the centerpiece to the deal, but the Buccos already have Ryan Doumit behind the plate, so the former Mariner could end up at first base. Wilson now looks to be the starting shortstop in Seattle and Snell adds depth to the M's rotation.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersWednesday 7/29, 11:45 AM CT
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pirates have traded shortstop Jack Wilson to the Seattle Mariners. No details yet on who the Bucs are getting in return.

Our View: There is obviously more to this, but it lokks like Jack Wislon is the newest Mariner. Strange that the M's would make an acquisition since they've been on the seller's end of the trade deadline frenzy, but it's a done deal. Details to come.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 7/28, 5:58 PM CT
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that Pirates' shortstop Jack Wilson is not in the team's lineup for Tuesday night's game. Wilson is healthy, and there is some speculation that this could be a sign that he is close to being moved.

Our View: Though nothing has been announced as far as a trade, Wilson sitting is certainly and interesting tidbit coming out of San Fran. Reports have indicated that the Pirates have been in talks with a few teams about Wilson, so we will monitor this situation closely and update any news. For now, consider this just a night off for Wilson unless you hear otherwise.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 7/27, 10:17 AM CT
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, scouts from both the Twins and Red Sox were scouting Pirates players over the weekend, particularly Jack Wilson and Freddy Sanchez.

Our View: The Twins' interest in the Pirates dynamic infield duo appears to be cooling as they zero in on talks with the A's about Orlando Cabrera. The level of Red Sox interest is not known, but the club is beginning to appear desperate, and could pull the trigger on a number of deals in the coming days. Both Wilson and Sanchez have battled injury lately, but have solid pedigrees of production that will still likely entice the Sox and other desperate teams.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersFriday 7/24, 9:28 AM CT
Jack Wilson, who has missed the Pirates' last three games with a left hamstring injury, will probably not return to the lineup until Saturday or Sunday at the earliest, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: The Pirates don't want to risk him injuring it further. If we know the Pirates, this probably means they don't want to damage his trade value. He should be back soon, but don't expect the Pirates to rush him back this weekend. They will want him to be as healthy as possible while they showcase him next week.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 7/21, 2:52 PM CT
Jack Wilson has been scratched from Tuesday's lineup due to a strained left hamstring, according to the Twitter page of Pirates' beat writer Dejan Kovacevic.

Our View: This is bad news for the Pirates, if only because it will make a trade of Wilson difficult depending on how severe the injury is. We will keep you updated on Wilson's condition, but it doesn't look great right now.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 7/20, 4:28 PM CT
Jack Wilson was given the green light to play after being struck by a ball just below his kneecap in Sunday's game, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Wilson will start at shortstop and bat eighth in tonight's battle against the Brewers at PNC Park. Wilson should be safe to consider for fantasy duty if he is a regular contributor to their team.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 7/7, 10:36 PM CT
Jack Wilson paced the Pirates to a 6-3 win over the Astros on Tuesday, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs and his first home run since June 26.

Our View: Wilson is heating up at the right time, as the Pirates have made no secret of their desire to trade him. He could help many teams out in the middle of the infield, but isn't a viable option for your fantasy team, save for in NL-only leagues.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 6/15, 8:18 AM CT
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that trade talks between the Pirates and Red Sox regarding shortstop Jack Wilson have stalled.

Our View: The Pirates have apparently also talked to other teams about moving Wilson, but not "intensely" as they have become leery of moving one of their most popular players after the Nate McLouth backlash. Wilson is batting .259 with one home run and 20 RBIs in 2009.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 6/8, 6:22 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, Jack Wilson has returned to the Pirates' lineup for Monday's game at Atlanta after sitting out Sunday with a back ailment, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Our View: Wilson should be safe to employ in fantasy lineups if he is a regular contributor to your team.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 6/8, 10:50 AM CT
ESPN's Buster Olney is reporting that the Red Sox have discussed trading for Pirates shortstop Jack Wilson, but that a deal is unlikely because of the nearly $6 million Wilson is still owed this season.

Our View: Save for 2004, when he belted over 200 hits, Wilson has historically been of little fantasy value. But a trade to a loaded Red Sox lineup, and the cozy confines of Fenway Park, might boost his production a la fellow former Pirate Jason Bay. If this deal were to get done, Wilson might at least become a fantasy possibility.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 6/8, 9:11 AM CT
Jack Wilson threw on Sunday but was unable to play in the Pirates' game against Houston, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He will be re-evaluated before Monday's game in Atlanta.

Our View: It is a good sign that Wilson was able to throw yesterday, but he is still pretty sore. We will keep you updated on his status for tonight's game, but if you have another option at short you may want to go with that.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSunday 6/7, 1:32 PM CT
Jack Wilson is out of Sunday's lineup at Houston while nursing a sore back, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Our View: He did not suffer any structural damage while colliding with catcher Ivan Rodriguez in Saturday's battle, and Wilson is hopeful of drawing back into the lineup Monday after getting some rest today.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersFriday 6/5, 10:46 PM CT
Jack Wilson went 1-for-3 with a single and recorded the Pirates' lone RBI in Friday's 9-1 loss at Houston.

Our View: Pittsburgh only had six hits in the game, all singles. Wilson has a hit in three straight games, with two RBI over the span. He is hitting well right now after struggling in May with a .239 batting average.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersFriday 6/5, 6:55 PM CT
Jack Wilson is back in the Pirates' lineup for tonight's game at Houston, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. He missed the previous game with a stomach virus.

Our View: Wilson should be fine to consider for fantasy duty if he is a regular contributor to your team.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 6/4, 11:42 PM CT
Jack Wilson was a late scratch for Thursday's game due to a stomach virus, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: His status for Friday's game is yet to be determined. Ramon Vazquez could fill in at shortstop if Wilson is unable to go.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 6/2, 7:25 PM CT
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the Royals may be in the market for a shortstop, and believes Jack Wilson of the Pirates would be a good fit.

Our View: Wilson was previously linked to a few other teams in trade rumors, such as the Mariners. Wilson is not exactly a solid option, as he is hitting .263 and already made five fielding errors.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 5/18, 9:45 PM CT
Jack Wilson had a huge night for the Pirates on Monday, as he went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, three runs scored, and two RBI.

Our View: Wilson didn't look affected at all by the trade rumors going around. He can still hit a little bit, and he is still an option in NL-only leagues. His mixed league value is fairly non-existent, however.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 5/18, 1:09 PM CT
The Pirates and Mariners have reportedly discussed a swap of Jack Wilson for Yuniesky Betancourt, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View: The Mariners are 18-20, and are looking to upgrade their middle infield. Wilson is four years older than Betancourt at 31, but Wilson is much better defensively and they are similar offensively. Wilson was rumored to be on the Pirates' trading block in the offseason. It is uncertain if it would be a one-for-one deal, or if other players would be involved.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersWednesday 5/13, 9:07 PM CT
Jack Wilson showed no ill-effects from his finger injury on Wednesday as he went 3-for-4 with a double, a run, and an RBI. Wilson was activated Tuesday from the DL.

Our View: Wilson had a big night tonight, but is fantasy value is still very limited. He can hit, but he has no power or speed to speak of. He only has 4 runs scored and eight RBI on the season.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 5/12, 3:05 PM CT
As expected, the Pittsburgh Pirates have activated shortstop Jack Wilson from the DL, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. In a corresponding move, the team demoted Brian Bixler to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Our View: No surprise here. Wilson should get the start at short tonight against the Cardinals, so feel free to deploy him in fantasy lineups. It may take him a few games to get back on track, but the finger seems to be fine at this point.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 5/11, 9:23 AM CT
Jack Wilson did not play in a rehab game Sunday with Triple-A Indianapolis due to cold weather, but he is still expected to be activated from the DL Tuesday, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He has been recovering from a sprained left index finger.

Our View: Wilson will work out at PNC Park today, and should draw back into the Pirates' lineup right away for tomorrow's game against the Cardinals.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/10, 12:48 PM CT
Jack Wilson is expected to play one more rehab game in Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday before rejoining the team for their game Tuesday, according to MLB.com.

Our View: It was thought that Wilson would stay in Triple-A for Monday's game, but those plans have changed and it looks as if he will be back in Pittsburgh on Tuesday. Expect him to play right away when he returns to the big club.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSaturday 5/9, 9:09 AM CT
Jack Wilson (sprained left index finger) started his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis Friday, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Wilson is expected to play four games and return to the Pirates Tuesday, barring a setback. He was only hitting .255 over 47 at-bats and is not a good fantasy option, but the Pirates will be pleased to get his solid glove back in their middle infield.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersWednesday 5/6, 12:54 PM CT
Jack Wilson, who has been recovering from a sprained left index finger, feels ready and eager to return to the Pirates, according to the Beaver County Times.

Our View: This is encouraging news, but Wilson will have to wait as he is not eligible to come off the DL until May 10. He will play in a minor league rehab game either Friday or Saturday.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 5/4, 9:49 AM CT
Jack Wilson took batting practice Sunday for the first time since spraining his left index finger, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Wilson is eligible to come off the DL Sunday, and appears to be ready to do so. Fantasy owners could get him back for next week.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSaturday 5/2, 8:31 AM CT
Shortstop Jack Wilson tested his injured finger with light activities on Friday and "by all indications, he should be ready to go" next weekend, manager John Russell tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Our View: Previous reports said Wilson wouldn't even do light work until early next week. It sounds like they ditched that plan. We should be able to firm up his status by the middle of next week.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersWednesday 4/29, 11:06 AM CT
Shortstop Jack Wilson will rest his injured left middle finger for the next five or six days in order to let the swelling subside, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. He will then try hitting before moving on to catching. Wilson is on the DL.

Our View: It sounds like Wilson is still at least 10 days, if not two or more weeks, away from returning. The Pirates are giving Brian Bixler a look at shortstop while this veteran is down.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 4/28, 8:45 AM CT
Jack Wilson is scheduled to meet with a hand specialist today while on the DL with a sprained left index finger, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Wilson will not participate in fielding or throwing for another three or four days. Ramon Vazquez is expected to get the bulk of the starts at shortstop while Wilson is out.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSunday 4/26, 8:20 AM CT
The Pirates placed shortstop Jack Wilson on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday night. He has been dealing with a sprained left middle finger that he initially injured on April 13. "It's pretty painful," Wilson informs the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Our View: The Pirates will fill his roster spot on Sunday, presumably with someone like infielder Brian Bixler. We expect Ramon Vazquez to see a lot of time at shortstop over the next two weeks.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSunday 4/19, 11:43 AM CT
Jack Wilson is back in Pittsburgh's lineup at shortstop against Atlanta on Sunday, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review.

Our View: Wilson had missed the Pirates' previous two games with a bruised left middle finger but is apparently back in good health. He's gotten off to a nice start this season, so re-insert him back into your lineup if you had been using him before the brief injury sidelining.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersFriday 4/17, 6:32 PM CT
Shortstop Jack Wilson was a late scratch on Friday night, presumably due to a bruised left middle finger, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review notes. Ramon Vazquez started in his place.

Our View: Wilson also sat out on Wednesday due to the finger injury. He remains day-to-day.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersFriday 4/17, 8:52 AM CT
Jack Wilson returned to the diamond Thursday after missing Wednesday's game with a bruised left middle finger, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Wilson should be fine to employ in fantasy lineups for Friday's game against Atlanta at PNC Park. He is hitting .310 over 29 at-bats so far.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersWednesday 4/15, 5:41 PM CT
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review is reporting that Jack Wilson has been scratched from Wednesday's lineup with a bruised left middle finger. He is expected to be back in the lineup on Thursday. Ramon Vazquez will replace him at shortstop for tonight.

Our View: This doesn't seem to be too serious for Wilson, who has had a nice start to 2009. Adjust your lineups accordingly for Wednesday, but he is safe to play on Thursday.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 4/6, 8:48 PM CT
Jack Wilson hit a ninth inning bases loaded double to drive in three runs in the Pirates 6-4 win over the Cardinals on Monday. It was his only hit in five at-bats.

Our View: Wilson is not a top option at shortstop, but he's an adequate backup. He had one of his worst seasons of his career last season, but he appears poised for a rebound this season.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 3/31, 4:37 PM CT
Jack Wilson returned to the lineup Tuesday and promptly hit his first home run of the spring. It was a two-run shot, and his only hit of the game.

Our View: Well, Jack matched his home run total from all of last year today. This alone should tell you he's no use to you in the power department. He has little fantasy value in any other area either and is best suited for deep NL-only leagues.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 3/31, 9:37 AM CT
Jack Wilson returned to the diamond after missing two games with a bruised left knee, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Wilson should be good to go for opening day. He only hit .300 once in his career, and is not a source for speed or power, meaning he should be left for NL-only leagues.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSunday 3/29, 9:36 AM CT
The Pirates have held preliminary talks with Jack Wilson regarding a contract extension, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Wilson's current contract with the Pirates calls for a $7.25MM salary for 2009 with a club option for 2010 worth $8.4MM or a $500,000 buyout. His salary would likely have to come down from its current level for both sides to agree on a deal, due to the market downturn. The 31-year-old vet has been with the club since 2001.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersWednesday 3/25, 11:42 PM CT
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Jack Wilson left Wednesday's game against the Rays due to asthma. "It was windy and all that dust ... I couldn't get my breath back," Wilson said. "I feel like I played 15 innings."

Our View: No big deal here, and Wilson should be ready to go in the Bucs' next game. He has struggled all spring, but the Pirates do not have many other options to plug in at the position.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 3/9, 5:14 PM CT
Jack Wilson had a rough day for the Pirates on Monday, going 0-for-3 at the plate with a strikeout while stranding three runners. He also grounded into a double play while committing a throwing error in the field.

Our View: Wilson's batting just .111 this spring, so the Dodgers are probably counting their blessings that they managed to resign Rafael Furcal rather than trading for Wilson.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 1/26, 9:05 AM CT
Pirates' GM Neal Huntington noted that there are currently no trade discussions regarding Jack Wilson, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: As of now, Wilson will be the Pirates' opening day shortstop. He will be looking to improve upon a poor 2008 campaign, as he held a mere .312 OBP, and could be a favorable value pick for deeper fantasy leagues.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 12/23, 7:06 AM CT
The Pirates have not found a suitor for Jack Wilson, so it seems likely he will be with the club in 2009, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Wilson looks to bounce back next season after being slowed by a strained calf and broken finger in 2008. He could be a favorable value pick for deeper fantasy leagues.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersFriday 12/19, 9:44 AM CT
As of now it looks like Jack Wilson will be staying with the Pirates and commented that he would like the team to be more competitive, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Wilson said, "The only thing I wish we could do was compete. I wish we could go out and get some more players to make our team competitive. And, you know, now that this whole trade thing has probably blown over, that's going to be my new focus on the Internet: Instead of looking for my name and where I might go, hopefully, we might get some players. Because we need them."

Our View: If Wilson stays in Pittsburgh, Ramon Vazquez will lend support as the primary backup at shortstop. Vazquez could see time at second base as well.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersWednesday 12/17, 8:18 AM CT
It is possible that Pirates shortstop Jack Wilson will not be moved as anticipated, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: The Dodgers have not contacted the Pirates even after losing out on Rafael Furcal, and no other teams have contacted them either. Wilson is overpaid, and despite being a competent fielder, his offensive upside is limited, and that goes for fantasy owners as well.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 12/16, 6:20 PM CT
If the Dodgers miss out on Rafael Furcal, they may again look into acquiring the Pirates' Jack Wilson , according to MLB.com.

Our View: The Pirates may even be willing to pay some of Wilson's salary in order to deal a player they clearly overpaid.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 12/11, 1:28 AM CT
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that only the Minnesota Twins are known to be interested in shortstop Jack Wilson, but the Los Angeles Dodgers could come back if their bid to re-sign free agent Rafael Furcal falls short.

Our View: It seems less and less likely that Wilson will be dealt anytime soon, but it appears he is clearly on the market. He appeared in just 87 games a season ago.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 12/9, 8:28 AM CT
Despite rumors indicating otherwise, it does not seem that the Dodgers are interested in shortstop Jack Wilson, according to the Beaver County Times. “We really have no interest in Jack Wilson,” the Dodgers official said. “He’s a fine player but he really isn’t what we’re looking for.”

Our View: The Dodgers do not feel Wilson would be a major upgrade over slick-fielding shortstop Chin-Lung Hu, who is 24 and will make just over the major-league minimum salary of $400,000.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 12/8, 10:08 PM CT
Despite rumors to the contrary, the Minnesota Twins are not interested in acquiring the services of shortstop Jack Wilson, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Wilson is a hot name on the market, despite the fact he had just one home run and hit .272 with a .312 OBP last year.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 12/8, 2:00 PM CT
There is news circulating that the Twins are interested in pursuing Jack Wilson, according to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

Our View: It is uncertain how reliable and accurate this news is, but Wilson would be a favorable replacement for Adam Everett at shortstop in Minnesota.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 12/8, 1:56 PM CT
There is speculation that the Tigers will end their pursuit for Jack Wilson because they are now interested in signing Adam Everett, according to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

Our View: Wilson offers more offensively, but the Tigers can land Everett for a more favorable price, and he would be solid defensively.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 12/8, 12:44 AM CT
Shortstop Jack Wilson plans to attend the Major League Baseball's Winter Meetings, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Pirates' management and their Detroit counterparts have arranged a face-to-face discussion for some point early in these four-day meetings, and a trade that would send Wilson to the Tigers will be the primary topic.

Our View: The Tigers are in need of a shortstop following the departure of Edgar Renteria. Wilson would be a sound option as he is a proven bat and solid defender. His fantasy value would see a jump in an offense such as the Tigers.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSaturday 12/6, 7:32 AM CT
The Pirates are reportedly looking to acquire Jeff Larish and Matt Joyce from the Tigers in exchange for Jack Wilson, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: It is unlikely that Pittsburgh would acquire both of these prospects, but they could probably pull off a deal for one of them and one pitching prospect.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersFriday 12/5, 8:38 AM CT
Jack Wilson could restructure his contract to favor a trade to the Dodgers, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Wilson is willing to renegotiate the final two years of his contract to facilitate a trade to the Dodgers. Wilson is due $7.25 million in 2009 and has an $8.4 million club option for 2010, with a $600,000 buyout. The Dodgers reportedly would be willing to guarantee both years for a total in the range of $12 million.

Our View: It is unclear if Wilson would tweak his contract in the same manner for a trade to the Tigers. Detroit is also one of the six teams in his no-trade clause.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 12/4, 12:21 PM CT
The Pirates are denying that they traded Jack Wilson to the Tigers, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review. Pirates' GM Neal Huntington said, "No deal has been finalized."

Our View: A source close to Wilson also denies the rumor. It is still believed that the Tigers are interested in Wilson though.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 12/4, 11:23 AM CT
The Tigers have reportedly acquired Jack Wilson from the Pirates, according to the Star-Ledger.

Our View: It is unclear what the Pirates have received in return for the veteran shortstop. We will keep you posted.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 12/4, 9:21 AM CT
Jack Wilson is on the Orioles' radar, according to BaseballProspectus.com.

Our View: The Tigers also remain interested, while the Dodgers have backed off due to his asking price. Wilson would be a solid upgrade for the Orioles at shortstop.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 11/27, 7:31 AM CT
The Dodgers are reportedly interested in Pirates shortstop Jack Wilson, but not for the asking price that the Pirates require, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Our View: The Dodgers do have other options out there, including Edgar Renteria. The Dodgers rivals from the bay area, the Giants, have been having specific contract talks with Renteria and were prematurely reported to have signed him to a two-year deal.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSaturday 11/22, 12:01 PM CT
The Tigers are one of several teams interested in trading for Jack Wilson, according to Foxsports.com.

Our View: Last year Wilson was only able to play in 87 games but did hit .272 and only struck out 27 times in over 300 at-bats.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSunday 9/21, 11:26 AM CT
Pirates shortstop Jack Wilson believes he will be traded in the offseason, and he would like to get one more at-bat during the team's final home game on Sunday, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Wilson has been dealing with a fractured right index finger, and the most he will be able to do is pinch-hit this afternoon. Wilson believes he will be dealt because he'll make more than $7 million next year.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 9/18, 8:04 AM CT
Jack Wilson, who has been dealing with a fractured right index finger, was cleared to hit in the game against the Dodgers Wednesday night, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He will not play defense for the remainder of the season.

Our View: His plan is to register a plate appearance Sunday in the Pirates' home finale, which could be his last game at PNC Park if he and his $7.25 million 2009 salary are traded in the off-season.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/17, 8:25 AM CT
Jack Wilson took some swings in the indoor cage Tuesday, and also did some soft-tossing on the field, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: That marks his biggest step forward in his recovery from a fractureds finger. He remains hopeful to be available to pinch-hit on the Pirates' current homestand.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 9/16, 12:15 PM CT
Jack Wilson hopes to rejoin the Pirates lineup Sunday, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Wilson hasn't been cleared to swing a bat yet, and even if he can return he doesn't hold any value for fantasy owners.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 9/9, 11:31 AM CT
The Pittsburgh Pirates will suffer yet another losing season and have little to play for, so news that shortstop Jack Wilson has a hairline fracture in his right index finger and could miss the rest of the season isn’t much of a fantasy factor. Doctors have advised Wilson against doing any sort of fielding or throwing for the next six weeks.

Our View: Wilson is having a miserable year, hitting .274 with one homer and 22 RBI. He likely has played his last game as a Pirate. The former All-Star is set to make $7.25 million next season, which is expected to be too much for cash-strapped Pittsburgh, which will attempt to trade him – and nearly did so before this year’s trade deadline.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 9/9, 8:39 AM CT
Jack Wilson, who is dealing with a hairline fracture to his right index finger, but may not be completely finished for 2008 as was previously speculated, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He cannot throw again for about six weeks, meaning he is finished roaming shortstop, but may still be able to serve as a pinch-hitter. Manager John Russell said, "If everything goes well, Jack will be able to pinch-hit in the final week or so."

Our View: He took some light swings on Monday, and is going to try to hit so he can serve a purpose. There is no need to place him on the DL because of expanded September rosters. He should still be dropped from fantasy rosters.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 9/8, 5:53 PM CT
Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Jack Wilson will likely miss the remainder of the season because of a hairline fracture in his right index finger, according to the AP.

Our View: Even when healthy, Wilson lacks fantasy value as he does not hit for average or power, nor does he steal bases.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSunday 9/7, 11:48 PM CT
Pirates shortstop Jack Wilson threw on Sunday as he recovers from a contusion to his right finger, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He may be able to play in the team's series against he Astros.

Our View: Wilson is not a player that should be utilized in fantasy leagues, as he does not hit for average or power, nor does he steal bases.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSunday 9/7, 12:43 PM CT
Wilson is still unable to throw due to a swollen finger, reports the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. He has missed five games with the injury.

Our View: It sounds like Wilson might be out for several more days.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSaturday 9/6, 8:18 AM CT
Jack Wilson missed his fourth game due to his bruised index finger, and it is unclear as to when he may return, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: The lingering swelling has kept him from throwing, and there is no timetable as to when he can resume.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersFriday 9/5, 8:02 AM CT
The swelling on Jack Wilson's bruised right index finger went down significantly Thursday, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Wilson said, "It's a stupid injury because it could have been avoided. I've done it before but never this bad."

Our View: He was injured while fielding a grounder. Assuming the swelling doesn't get worse, Wilson can likely return to the Pirates' lineup tonight.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/3, 8:17 AM CT
Jack Wilson may miss the entire series against the Reds due to a sore right index finger, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He sustained the injury Sunday while fielding a grounder, and manager John Russell said, "I'm sure it would throb if he had to make a throw. Or he had to swing a bit, it would throb."

Our View: Brian Bixler and Luis Rivas will be considered to cover Wilson's spot at shortstop while he recovers.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSunday 8/31, 4:32 PM CT
Jack Wilson left Sunday's game against the Brewers in the ninth inning due to a contusion of his right index finger, the Ticker reports. Luis Rivas took his place.

Our View: Ah, those tricky finger contusions. Wilson has had a rough year, especially on the injury front. It will be interesting to see if the Pirates give more time to a youngster like Brian Bixler this September.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersFriday 8/15, 8:13 AM CT
Jack Wilson returned to the diamond Thursday after missing six starts due to right shoulder tendinitis, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: His first game back was successful, as he went 2-for-5 against the Reds. He is worth penciling back into lineups in deeper NL-only leagues.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 8/14, 8:12 AM CT
Jack Wilson was told he could not throw yesterday after the medical staff checked him and determined he should rest his right shoulder, which has tendinitis. But the Pirates do not anticipate him going on the DL, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: This is good news for the Pirates' middle infield, and the team is not ruling him out from returning as soon as tonight. Wilson has not appeared in a game since last Friday, when he pinch-hit against the Phillies.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersWednesday 8/13, 8:49 AM CT
Jack Wilson missed a fifth game due to tendinitis in his right shoulder, but did extensive throwing in the infield Tuesday during practice, and could be ready to return to action tonight against Cincinnati, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: It appears that he will avoid a stint on the DL. He should still ride the pine in fantasy leagues, as he only mustered two hits over his last six games (18 at-bats).
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 8/11, 11:51 AM CT
Jack Wilson remains out of the Pirates' lineup Monday due to tightness in his right shoulder, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. He said, "Yesterday, it felt pretty good. I thought I'd be able to go today. But it hurts. It didn't progress the way I'd hoped it would."

Our View: He isn't able to throw properly, and could land on the DL if he doesn't recover soon. Luis Rivas replaces him at shortstop today.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSunday 8/10, 8:04 AM CT
Jack Wilson was out of Saturday's starting lineup due to tendinitis in his right shoulder, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: He was available to pinch-hit, but cannot throw properly. It appears the earliest Wilson will start again will be Monday against the Mets.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersFriday 8/8, 7:59 PM CT
Jack Wilson has tightness in his throwing shoulder and as a result he was scratched from a start on Friday, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Luis Rivas replaced him in the lineup.

Our View: It was thought that Wilson would be moved at the deadline, but a deal wasn't worked out so he continues to toil in Pittsburgh.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 7/21, 7:43 AM CT
Teams continue to call the Pirates regarding Jack Wilson, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. There is no indication that Wilson will be dealt, and the team would prefer to keep him as he would be very difficult to replace internally. But there is a openness to trading Wilson for an appropriate value in prospects, as there is with everyone on the roster.

Our View: The Dodgers are said to be the top team interested in Wilson, and an AL source states that the Tigers may be targeting him as well, as they also covet a shortstop.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 7/8, 8:19 AM CT
There has been speculation swirling that several teams were interested in acquiring Jack Wilson, but the Pirates stated that they expect to keep the shortstop beyond the trade deadline, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: The Pirates realized exactly how valuable he was to the team, and how vulnerable they are at shortstop without him, as they gravely struggled at the position while he was on the DL. The team is considering retaining him for two more seasons.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 7/1, 2:42 PM CT
Jack Wilson did not have a problem with batting ninth, behind the pitcher, in last night's game, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He went 1-for-3 with a single.

Our View: Wilson has only played in 33 games this season, after missing a portion due to injury. He won't offer much outside of batting average and the occasional steal or RBI, but in deep NL-only leagues, he could be a useful option as an injury fill-in.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersFriday 6/27, 9:45 PM CT
Jack Wilson went 2-for-3 with three RBI in Friday's 10-5 loss to the upstart Rays. He hit one single and one double.

Our View: Wilson now has five multi-hit games over his last seven, but the Pirates are only 3-4 over the span.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 6/3, 9:46 PM CT
Pittsburgh managed just five hits this evening as they suffer the shutout loss to the Houston Astros, 2-0, with shortstop Jack Wilson serving as the only offensive performance of note. Wilson went 2-for-4 at the plate with his third double of the season.

Our View: Wilson has hit well since returning from injury, going 10-for-24, though he has just one RBI and one run scored.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 6/2, 6:53 PM CT
Jack Wilson is listed as the starter for Monday's game against the Cardinals. He has missed the last two contests due to tightness in the muscles above his left calf and behind his knee.

Our View: Fantasy owners may want to wait a few days to use Wilson, as he needs to prove his calf and knee are sound.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 6/2, 9:17 AM CT
Jack Wilson was penciled into the Pirates' lineup on Sunday morning, but was ultimately scratched for his second straight game due to tightness in the muscles above his calf and behind his knee, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Wilson is expected back in the Pirates' lineup tonight, and Manager John Russell noted that he just needed another day of rest. Wilson felt he could have played Sunday.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSunday 6/1, 1:07 PM CT
Jack Wilson is back in the lineup on Sunday, one day after missing a contest due to tightness behind his left knee, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

Our View: Wilson has shown some life with the stick, but we'd like to see him be healthy for a bit before endorsing him for anything more than NL-only leagues.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSaturday 5/31, 5:59 PM CT
Jack Wilson has been scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Cardinals, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Wilson is bothered by tightness and fatigue in a muscle behind his left knee. The ailing area is just above the spot in his calf which he injured April 3. He said, "It’s a sharp pain in there every time I’ve run the past couple of days. Hopefully, it’s just inflamed."

Our View: Wilson will reportedly be available to pinch-hit tonight if needed. The team expects Wilson back in the lineup tomorrow as well.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 5/27, 9:51 PM CT
Jack Wilson had three singles Tuesday in his first game back from a strained left calf. He hadn't played since April 3.

Our View: Wilson didn't take long to shake off the rust. Feel free to insert him into your lineup if you normally would.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 5/27, 11:28 AM CT
Jack Wilson has been activated from the DL today, according to the Miami Herald. He has recovered from a strained left calf. The Pirates optioned shortstop Brian Bixler to Triple-A Indianapolis to make room on the roster.

Our View: Wilson will provide a boost to the Pirates, namely defensively, but he was only hitting 1-for-12 prior to landing on the DL, and may need a few games to find his swing.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/25, 2:00 PM CT
Jack Wilson, who is recovering from a strained left calf, is expected back on Tuesday, according to the AP. He will spend extra time at Double-A Altoona on a rehab assignment but still plans to rejoin the Pirates in Cincinnati on Tuesday. GM Neal Huntington said, "He’s feeling great, he’s throwing great, he’s fielding great. But he still wants to get his timing down."

Our View: The team will likely send down Brian Bixler to make room for Wilson on the roster.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSaturday 5/24, 11:09 PM CT
Jack Wilson may rejoin the Pirates from a minor league rehab assignment as early as Sunday and is expected to play on Tuesday, according to the AP. Wilson has been out since April 3 with a strained left calf.

Our View: The Bucs will likely send Brian Bixler down to make room for Wilson.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSaturday 5/24, 11:46 AM CT
Jack Wilson (calf) went 2-for-3 on Friday at Double-A Altoona while playing eight innings in the field, according to the Allegheny Times. Wilson will also play on Saturday and could be activated for the Pirates game on Sunday, or at worst for Tuesday.

Our View: The Pirates have missed Wilson's defense, his bat and his veteran presence this season. Those looking for some middle infield depth might consider bidding some FAAB dollars this weekend for his services if he is still on waivers.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersFriday 5/23, 8:08 AM CT
Jack Wilson is aiming to return to the majors on Tuesday, at the latest. He has been out since early April due to a strained left calf. "I definitely do not plan to be (out) beyond this weekend," Wilson informs the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "I want to be back sooner -- Saturday or Sunday would be the goal -- but definitely by Tuesday's game." The shortstop is currently on a rehab assignment, and his calf has cramped up late in contests.

Our View: Wilson will regain some value in NL-only leagues, but mixed league owners shouldn't expect him to return with a flourish. It sounds like his calf still isn't 100 percent.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersWednesday 5/21, 9:56 AM CT
The Pirates reported that Jack Wilson is close to returning from the DL, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Manager John Russell commented, "He's close. There's still no exact date, but it's mostly a matter of getting over some fatigue he has after the fifth or sixth inning, which is to be expected."

Our View: Wilson joined Double-A Altoona Tuesday night in Akron, Ohio, where he will play the Curve's entire three-game series before his left calf is evaluated again Friday.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/18, 12:03 PM CT
Pittsburgh shortstop Jack Wilson , battling to return from an injured calf, will move his rehab effort from Triple-A Indianapolis to Double-A Altoona, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Our View: The team asserts Wilson is likely to stay in Altoona until Wednesday, hoping to bring him back to the majors later in the week. He has been out since April 3rd and the team failed to address why they were moving him down a level before the move back to the majors.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersFriday 5/16, 1:55 PM CT
Jack Wilson started his rehab assignment well on Thursday as he went 1-for-3 at the plate without feeling problems in his injured left leg, according to MILB.com. "It was good to get the first-inning single, and run the bases a little bit," Wilson said. "I have to be patient because it's going to take a while to get my timing back."

Our View: Wilson will probably need about a week's worth of games to get his timing back before he can join the Pirates who are desperate need of some offense from the shortstop position.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersWednesday 5/14, 9:48 AM CT
Jack Wilson will begin a rehab stint with Double-A Altoona on Thursday. He is aiming to rejoin the Pirates on May 27, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. Wilson has been out since April 3 due to a strained left calf.

Our View: The Pirates have missed Wilson's glove, bat, and leadership, and he'll easily get his job back. Brian Bixler and Luis Rivas have made Jack look like an All-Star.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 5/8, 8:19 AM CT
Jack Wilson will remain out of the lineup for at least two more weeks with a strained left calf, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Wilson was expected to begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Altoona last weekend, but the injury flared up again at the team's extended spring training camp in Bradenton, Florida. He last played with Pittsburgh on April 3.

Our View: Wilson is not yet ready to begin that rehab assignment and, when he is ready, his extended time off may require him to play as much as a week in the minors. Wilson is hitting off a tee this week at the extended spring camp but is not playing in any games. Without Wilson, the team's infielders have committed 24 errors.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersWednesday 5/7, 9:16 AM CT
Jack Wilson once again is making progress in his recovery from a strained left calf that has had him on the disabled list since the first weekend of the season , notes the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. The Pirates hope Wilson can begin a rehab stint with Triple-A Indianapolis or Double-Altoona (at Reading beginning Friday) this weekend.

Our View: Wilson has played in only three games this year and has one hit and one RBI on the season.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSaturday 5/3, 10:48 AM CT
The Pittsburgh Pirates have reported SS Jack Wilson will not begin his rehab assignment with Double-A Altoona as expected, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: The team reports Wilson has suffered a setback in his strained left calf. Playing defense in the 2nd inning of an extended spring practice game, Wilson reported feeling "a tweek" in the leg, and while the team reports Wilson is feeling better, the team is taking caution and will need more time to get on the field.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersWednesday 4/30, 11:16 AM CT
Jack Wilson is set to begin a minor-league stint on Friday with Double-A Altoona, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He is on the DL while he recovers from a strained left calf.

Our View: He remains on target to return to Pittsburgh on Tuesday. Brian Bixler and Luis Rivas combined for nine errors while attempting to fill Wilson's shoes at shortstop.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSaturday 4/26, 9:03 AM CT
The team is hoping that Jack Wilson will be ready to return for the May 6-8 home series against the Giants, according to The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Wilson is hitting and running in Bradenton, Florida, and remains on target to begin minor-league work in the middle or late part of next week.

Our View: Wilson is a tough man to replace in the Pirates' lineup, as neither Brian Bixler nor Luis Rivas has made much of an impact while filling in. Bixler holds the better average at a mere .195 over 41 at-bats.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 4/24, 7:30 AM CT
Jack Wilson's strained left calf continues to progress, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. But his rehab in Bradenton, Florida, still includes no game-type activity. Wilson is expected to participate in minor-league action in early May.

Our View: Wilson is a tough man to replace in the Pirates' lineup, as neither Brian Bixler nor Luis Rivas has made much of an impact while filling in.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersMonday 4/21, 3:28 PM CT
Jack Wilson has had his timetable pushed back. The injured shortstop will not begin a minor league rehab stint until "early to mid next week," manager John Russell informs the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Wilson is out due to a strained left calf, and he experienced "some tightness" during running drills on Monday morning.

Our View: The Pirates have had both offensive and defensive problems in trying to replace Wilson. Luis Rivas and Brian Bixler have generally stunk, and it looks like Bixler may get most of the action moving forward.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersFriday 4/11, 9:15 AM CT

Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSunday 4/6, 11:07 AM CT
Jack Wilson will miss another game due to his strained left calf, according to MLB.com. Wilson is still unable to bend his left leg after sustaining the ailment on Thursday. Because his leg remains swollen, the Pirates' medical team has not been able to assess how bad of a strain he suffered.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersFriday 4/4, 7:14 AM CT
Jack Wilson will not play on Friday night, one day after straining his left calf, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review notes. "I pulled it pretty good," Wilson says. He will be re-evaluated prior to the contest against the Marlins. Luis Rivas or Chris Gomez will start in his place.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 4/3, 8:33 PM CT

Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 4/3, 6:01 PM CT
After hitting eighth in the first two games of the season, Jack Wilson is batting second tonight. "It's like I said earlier, we're going to put the lineup together the way we best see it fitting that night," manager John Russell said on MLB.com. "Jack will hit in the top of the order. He'll hit No. 8 sometimes. We'll just see how it plays out." Wilson is 0-for-8 to start the year, so he certainly didn't earn the move to the top. He's not much of a mixed league option but has value in NL-only play.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersWednesday 11/28, 11:05 AM CT
The Cardinals' search for a shortstop could lead them to former farmhand Jack Wilson. Wilson is expected to be on the move this winter, and the Cards could be interested in re-acquiring the player they drafted in 1998, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The team could also be interested in pursuing Miguel Tejada, though a club source described the chances of that happening as "slim to none."
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSunday 9/30, 7:58 AM CT
Jack Wilson spent Saturday night in a hospital after a scary collision with Matt Kata. The head-to-head impact sent Wilson into an apparent seizure for about 30 seconds, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He was taken to the hospital for observation and was speaking clearly to friends and family later. A CT scan revealed that Wilson sustained a concussion. Obviously, he won't take part in Sunday's season finale.

Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersTuesday 9/25, 8:41 PM CT
Jack Wilson rejoned the Pirates Tuesday and said his hamstring is better, though he wasn't in the starting lineup, the team's official site reports. Wilson has also done some baserunning and sprinting, so it appears likely that he'll be able to play again at some point this week.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersSunday 9/23, 5:49 AM CT
Jack Wilson was expected to arrive in Chicago late Saturday evening after spending time with family after the birth of his daughter, the Pirates official site reports. It wasn't clear yet whether Wilson (tight hamstring) will be able to play in the Sunday's series finale with the Cubs. Cesar Izturis is also nicked up, so Matt Kata, Saturday starter at short, might be pressed into action again.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 9/20, 11:56 AM CT
Jack Wilson is probably out until Sunday due to the hamstring injury he suffered Tuesday. Wilson didn't play last night and will be re-evaluated this morning but, with an afternoon game, it seems unlikely he'll play today, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He won't be available Friday and Saturday because he's leaving the team tonight to be with his wife for the birth of their third child tomorrow.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/19, 5:39 AM CT
Jack Wilson left Tuesday's game in the seventh inning with tightness in his left hamstring. He suffered the injury earlier in the night, trying to catch a shallow fly to left field. It's potentially-unfortunate timing for Wilson, who's been hammering the ball for six weeks or so now and is playing for his next contract.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersFriday 8/31, 11:54 AM CT
Jack Wilson doesn't expect to return to the Pirates next season. He is under contract through the end of next year, but the Pirates traded for Cesar Izturis before the deadline and Wilson's name was constantly brought up in trade rumors - mostly involving the Tigers. "With all the speculation that happened and Cesar Izturis here, I don't see myself coming back," Wilson said in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I really don't. There are four or five teams that could use a shortstop, so I still expect a trade will happen." Wilson is a very good defender and is having a decent year at the plate, hitting .273 with seven homers and 40 RBI, but the cost-cutting Pirates could save a little over $1 million by going with Izturis at shortstop.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 8/30, 9:27 PM CT

Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 8/16, 9:25 PM CT
Jack Wilson developed asthma-related symptoms during Thursday night's game against the Mets and was assisted from the dugout during the fifth inning, according to the AP. Wilson was favoring his left leg, as if he had turned an ankle, as he limped out of the dugout and through a tunnel to the team clubhouse.

Our View: The warm weather may have played a factor in Wilson's condition. Not much is known of the possible leg injury though.
Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 8/2, 11:44 AM CT
The Pirates may still deal Jack Wilson before the end of August, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. The Tigers and Pirates continued to discuss a potential move on Wednesday. Jack Wilson, SS, Seattle MarinersThursday 6/14, 5:44 AM CT
Jack Wilson was on the bench Wednesday for the third consecutive game, the AP reports. Wilson batted .290 in April, but he's just 28-for-127 (.224) since then. Jose Castillo, for what it's worth, is 5-for-10 replacing Wilson over the last three games. "Were not shelving anybody," manager Jim Tracy said. "We're just taking advantage of the fact this guy's played a couple good games and giving him a chance to play. That's all."

He has not played since last Thursday due to an inner-ear infection that has caused him dizziness. "I'm feeling a lot better.
