Alfredo Amezaga, CF, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 2/2, 5:43 PM CT
According to Ken Rosenthal on Twitter, the Dodgers have signed free agent utility man Alfredo Amezaga to a minor league contract.

Our View: Amezaga gets an invite to spring training as well and will earn $650,000 if he make the club, plus up to $800,000 more in performance based incentives. Amezaga missed most of last season due to microfracture knee surgery, but appears to be healthy and ready to go this spring. Last year in just 27 games he managed a disappointing .217/.267/.261 line, but is a versatile defensive player.

According to the Miami Herald, Alfredo Amezaga, out with a bone bruise on his left knee since May 16th, will travel to Colorado to get a second opinion.

Our View: The injury is not improving and it has been about six weeks, so Amezaga will visit Dr. Richard Steadman (of A-Rod fame) and find out if he will require microfracture knee surgery.

Alfredo Amezaga is still not close to returning from his injured knee, according to the Miami Herald. He originally hurt his knee on May 17.

Our View: Amezega is the best defensive option on the Marlins infielder, but his hitting is too bad to consider him for fantasy purposes. He provides more value to the Marlins pitching staff than their lineup.

Our View: It didn't look like the injury was anything serious, so don't be too concerned. Of course, if Amezaga is a big part of your fantasy team, then you should be concerened, not about the injury, but about your team.

Manager Fredi Gonzalez said, "He was better yesterday than he was the day before. We will see how the work goes today back there. I think if our medical people or our training staff have any kind of concerns, we would not let him go. But we are not there yet. He did a ton of treatments on it yesterday and hopefully he will keep progressing."

Our View: If healthy, the 31-year-old vet could be useful for NL-only leagues as he has the versatility to play several positions.

Alfredo Amezaga, CF, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 6/21, 10:18 PM CT
Alfredo Amezaga exited Saturday's game in the fourth inning because of tightness in his left groin. He was replaced by Robert Andino.

Our View: Amezega isn't running much this year (though he had a steal tonight before exiting), rendering him useless fantasy-wise. A groin ailment isn't likely to cause him to burn up the basepaths.
