Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 9/28, 3:06 PM CT
Orlando Hudson scored the only run of the game for the Dodgers on Monday in their 11-1 loss to the Pirates. Hudson went 1-for-4 with a triple and the run scored.

Our View: Hudson has struggled much of this month, and the Dodgers could really use their All-Star second baseman in the postseason. He made something happen in the ninth inning today, and maybe this triple is what he needed to start hitting again.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 9/25, 9:23 PM CT
Orlando Hudson went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI in tonight's 3-1 loss at Pittsburgh.

Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 9/24, 7:11 PM CT
Dodgers' infielder Orlando Hudson is not in the Dodgers' lineup on Thursday after injuring his wrist Wednesday night. Hudson said the wrist will be fine, but the team gave him the night off.

Our View: The injury isn't anything to be worried about, but the Dodgers are playing it safe. Expect O-Dog to be back in the coming days, and he needs to break out of his month-long slump before the playoffs begin.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 9/19, 12:11 PM CT
Orlando Hudson is not in the Dodgers' lineup on Saturday afternoon. Ronnie Belliard will handle the second base duties and hit seventh for the team.

Our View: Hudson has been awful in the month of September, an the Dodgers may feel that Belliard gives them the best chance to win. Hudson needs to bounce back beforethe postseason, as he is a catalyst of the LA offense when he is hot.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 8/12, 9:48 AM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Dodgers' second baseman Orlando Hudson is expected to be out until Friday. Hudson was out of the team's lineup Tuesday after injuring his groin on Monday.

Our View: The injury is minor, but the team has an off-day on Thursday, so they will likely give him today off so he can get three full days of rest. Fantasy owners should plan accordingly, but rest easy because he should be good to go Friday.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 8/11, 9:24 PM CT
Orlando Hudson was held out of the Dodgers lineup on Tuesday one day after injuring his groin, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: He is considered day-to-day. Stay tuned for updates.

Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 7/20, 10:22 PM CT
Orlando Hudson is expected to return to the Dodgers' lineup Tuesday after exiting Sunday's game with a sore left wrist, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Skipper Joe Torre noted that Hudson is fine, and ready to return to action. He should be safe to employ in fantasy lineups if given the green light for tomorrow.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 7/19, 9:11 PM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Dodgers' second baseman Orlando Hudson left Sunday's game in the fifth inning with soreness in his left wrist. He is being considered day-to-day by the team going forward.

Our View: This is the same wrist that Hudson has had trouble with in the past, but team doctors have said that this injury is in a different place than before. This is not considered serious, but don't be surprised if Hudson gets a day or two off to get it healed. We will keep you updated on his status for Monday.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 7/17, 12:35 AM CT
Orlando Hudson provided about the only L.A. offense on Thursday, going 3-for-4 as the Dodgers lost 3-0 at home.

Our View: Hudson has been going through a bit of a mini-funk lately, but has five hits in his last two games, and is still a good option at second base in every format.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 7/12, 5:56 PM CT
Orlando Hudson cracked two homers in the Dodgers' 7-4 win over the Brewers on Sunday.

Our View: The O-Dog continued his fine season on Sunday with a pair of solo shots off Brewer pitching. He now has seven on the year and just may have broken out of his worst slump of the season. He has just three hits in his previous 39 at-bats.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 7/9, 8:55 PM CT
Orlando Hudson exited tonight's battle with the Mets after being struck on the left knee by a pitch, according to the Sports Network.

Our View: Hudson limped off the field in the top of the seventh inning, and was replaced by Juan Castro at second base. The severity of the injury is yet to be determined.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 7/7, 10:02 PM CT
Orlando Hudson found what cures most slumps on Tuesday - the New York Mets. The Dodgers' struggling second baseman went 2-for-5 with two RBIs as L.A. decked the Amazins 8-0 in Citi Field.

Our View: The key for Hudson will be to find a way to keep hitting once the Dodgers start playing competitive teams again. Tuesday was his first multiple hit game since June 25, and he has not homered since June 18. Regardless, Tuesday was a good start.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 7/1, 9:05 AM CT
According to the Los Angeles Daily News, Orlando Hudson will be back in the lineup Wednesday after getting Tuesday night off.

Our View: The O-Dog is an unimpressive 1-for-18 in his last four games, but the team thinks that he should return to form after some much needed time off. The surprisingly productive second sacker is still having a breakthrough season despite his recent skid. Be sure to get him back in your lineup.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 6/25, 5:42 PM CT
Orlando Hudson was 3-for-6 with two RBIs on Thursday, but the Dodgers fell 6-5 to the White Sox in 13 innings.

Our View: Hudson's production has tailed off a little bit since his monster start, but he is still hitting consistently and a great option at second base for the time being.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 6/20, 12:34 AM CT
Orlando Hudson went 3-for-4 in Friday's 5-4 loss at the Angels. He hit two doubles and a single.

Our View: Hudson raised his batting average to .316, and is riding a seven-game hitting streak. He has proven to be a solid acquisition for the Dodgers, as well as fantasy owners.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 6/18, 11:53 PM CT
Orlando Hudson homered for only the second time since April on Thursday as the Dodgers beat Oakland 3-2 in Los Angeles.

Our View: Hudson hasn't been providing much power for the Dodgers, but he's been doing a lot of everything else. So far in 2009 he is batting .309, has scored 45 runs, driven in 36 and swiped five bases. The Diamondbacks are likely still kicking themselves for letting him go. He is a good option in any format.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 5/20, 7:28 PM CT
Updating a previous report, Orlando Hudson is back in the Dodgers' lineup on Wednesday after leaving Tuesday's game with a shoulder injury, according to MLBlogs.com. It was thought that he could miss a few games with the injury.

Our View: Manager Joe Torre said that he thought Hudson would miss a few days, but apparently his shoulder is feeling fine. Keep him in fantasy lineups, as it looks like he will not be needing any time off.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 5/20, 12:16 PM CT
Orlando Hudson is nursing a bruised left shoulder, and skipper Joe Torre indicated that he could miss a day or two while recovering, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The ailment is not serious, but Hudson should be held out of fantasy lineups until further norice. Juan Castro is the likely candidate to replace Hudson at second base until he is ready to return.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 5/19, 1:02 AM CT
Orlando Hudson knocked in the game-winning RBI in the Dodgers 3-2 11-inning win over the Mets on Monday night. He was 2-for-5 in the game and picked up his 26th walk of the season.

Our View: Hudson continues to hold down the No. 3 spot in place of Manny Ramirez. The two have drastically different hitting styles, but the move is working for Joe Torre. The O-Dog has hits in eight straight games and 13 total in that span. He also has notched eight RBI in that stretch.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 5/7, 12:19 AM CT
Orlando Hudson was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI, two walks, and a run scored as the Dodgers improved to 13-0 at home to start the season.

Our View: Hudson already has 15 extra base hits through 29 games. He continues to thrive in perhaps the most favorable batting spot in the league between Rafael Furcal and Manny Ramirez.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 5/3, 8:35 PM CT
Orlando Hudson was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and three RBI in Sunday's 7-3 win over the Padres.

Our View: Hudson has clearly benefited from hitting in front of Manny Ramirez and is putting up All Star caliber numbers. He's hitting .336 with three homers, 15 RBI and four steals so far, and as long as he stays healthy could have the best season of his career.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 5/1, 12:26 AM CT
Orlando Hudson had another good night at the plate as the Dodgers beat the Padres 8-5. The second baseman went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and a run scored.

Our View: Hudson was just 1-for-13 before collecting two hits in each of his last two games. He is hitting .337 on the season and is producing at the highest level of his career now that he is hitting in front of Manny Ramirez.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 4/19, 7:23 PM CT
Orlando Hudson went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 14-2 thrashing of the Rockies.

Our View: Hudson is batting between Rafael Furcal and Manny Ramirez. There are few players in the league that have a more favorable batting slot.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 4/14, 7:25 AM CT
Orlando Hudson hit for the cycle in Monday's 11-1 win over the Giants, and became the first member of the Dodgers to do so since Wes Parker in 1970, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: Hudson is fitting in well with Los Angeles, as he contributed seven hits (one homer), three RBI, three stolen bases and four runs scored over the first seven games of the season.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 4/13, 6:34 PM CT
Orlando Hudson went 4-for-5 with a single, a double, a triple, a home run, three runs scored, and two RBI in Monday's 11-1 win over the Giants.

Our View: Hudson has among the more desirable batting spots in the league as he is sandwiched between Rafael Furcal and Manny Ramirez. He should be a strong producer given his second base position.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 4/11, 11:36 PM CT
Orlando Hudson was 2-for-4 with three RBI and his first home run of the season in the Dodgers' 11-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

Our View: The O-Dog should score a lot of runs this season in a well balanced Dodgers' lineup, especially getting on base in front of Manny Ramirez.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 3/12, 9:23 PM CT
Orlando Hudson went 2-for-2 against Team Korea on Thursday.

Our View: It was nice to see Hudson get on base, as he'd been struggling a bit at the plate at the start of spring since coming to Los Angeles. He should play nearly every day in the Dodgers' stacked lineup.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 3/4, 1:50 PM CT
Orlando Hudson was scratched from the Dodgers' lineup Wednesday according to Tony Jackson of the LA Daily News. Reasons for him not playing are undisclosed.

Our View: This is not a good sign for the O-Dog considering his contract is based on at-bats. Hopefully it isn't injury-related. When healthy he's a productive middle-round option for second sackers.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 2/23, 7:14 PM CT
Orlando Hudson's incentive-laden contract with the Dodgers is entirely based on the number of plate appearances he makes. Starting at 150 plate appearances, he will receive a monetary bonus for every additional 25 PA's up until 632. His base salary is $3 million.

Our View: Hudson made just 455 plate appearances last season but he cleared 600 in the two previous seasons. Healthy or not, expect Hudson to push himself to get at-bats every game. However, there's a chance the team uses Blake DeWitt to sabotage the incentives by giving him plenty of spot duty at second base.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 2/22, 12:39 PM CT
The Cardinals are one of a few teams that made a late push for Orlando Hudson before he signed with the Dodgers, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View: Since the Cards ended up not being able to land Hudson, they're still looking at infielders Brendan Ryan and Joe Thurston in addition to outfielder Skip Schumaker to be their everyday second baseman.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 2/20, 1:55 PM CT
The Dodgers have reportedly signed Orlando Hudson, according to XM Radio. He inked a one-year deal worth $3.4MM, and he could rake in an additional $4.6MM in incentives.

Our View: The Diamondbacks will receive the Dodgers' No. 17 pick in the June draft plus a supplemental pick for signing Hudson. The move pushes Blake DeWitt out of the starting role at second base.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 2/19, 8:24 AM CT
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports states that the Dodgers appear to be the frontrunner to sign Orlando Hudson.

Our View: Adding Hudson would not affect the Dodgers' pursuit of Manny Ramirez. But Hudson would push Blake DeWitt out of the starting role at second base.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 2/17, 2:16 PM CT
The Dodgers are continuing talks with Orlando Hudson's agent, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View: Signing Hudson would push Blake DeWitt out of the starting role at second. Hudson may need to accept a one-year deal, and hope for a longer contract with a strong campaign.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 2/16, 11:02 AM CT
Buster Olney of ESPN expects Orlando Hudson to make a decision soon regarding where he will sign. Olney believes he could decide by Wednesday.

Our View: He may need to accept a one-year deal, and hope for a longer contract with a strong campaign. The Dodgers, Cubs and White Sox could all be suitors, with the Royals viewed as a longshot.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 2/15, 10:07 AM CT
The Kansas City Star reports that Orlando Hudson's odds of signing with the Royals are not very good. GM remains interested in him, but seems to be confident with the current mix of options at second base.

Our View: Alberto Callaspo, Esteban German, and Willie Bloomquist will compete this spring to fill the spot occupied by Mark Grudzielanek last season. Hudson is drawing some interest from the Dodgers, Mets, Yankees, and Nationals.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 2/14, 11:22 AM CT
Buster Olney of ESPN indicates that the Royals are considering Orlando Hudson.

Our View: They want him, but are trying to figure out how to fit him into their budget. Signing Hudson would drop the fantasy value of Alberto Callaspo, as he would be pushed into the No. 2 role at second base.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 2/12, 8:06 PM CT
The Washington Nationals will not be signing Orlando Hudson, according to MLB.com.

Our View: It is surprising that Hudson has not found work to this point, after hitting .305 with eight homers and 41 RBI in 407 at bats last season. The Cardinals have also said they will not be signing Hudson.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 2/12, 8:53 AM CT
Bill Shaikin of the LA Times indicated that Orlando Hudson contacted the Dodgers, and not the other way around.

Our View: If the Dodgers were to add Hudson, they would have to move around Blake DeWitt and/or Casey Blake.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 2/10, 8:10 PM CT
According to the East Valley Tribune, the Los Angeles Dodgers could make a major "splash" in the free-agency market within the next 72 hours, possibly acquiring Manny Ramirez, second baseman Orlando Hudson, or both.

Our View: Reports speculate the Dodgers could sign Hudson to a one-year deal worth as much as $7 million. Our guess is, if offered such a deal, Hudson won't pull a Ramirez and decline a contract that significantly overshoots his financial value.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 2/6, 12:21 PM CT
Jayson Stark of ESPN believes Orlando Hudson will sign a one-year deal with the Dodgers or Nationals.

Our View: The Mets and Yankees have not pursued Hudson despite him stating they were interested. Hudson would have a much better supporting cast to rack up solid numbers if he lands in Los Angeles rather than Washington.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 2/3, 12:06 AM CT
Orlando Hudson told MLB.com on Monday that his agent has been talking to the Dodgers, Mets, Yankees, and Nationals about a contract.

Our View: The Braves also have had a reported interest in the 31-year-old second baseman. Last season Hudson hit .305 in 407 at-bats and he has generally been regarded as the best second baseman on the market.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 1/24, 4:57 PM CT
The Braves are interested in bringing in Orlando Hudson, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View: The Braves would have to move current second baseman Kelly Johnson to left field, which is a move that they're a bit apprehensive about. Their other option is to continue to explore the outfield market, which they may do as well.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 1/23, 8:43 PM CT
MLB.com reports that despite a tight free-agent budget, the Washington Nationals remain interested in second baseman Orlando Hudson.

Our View: GM Jim Bowden said the team is not close to signing any free agents, but it is no secret the Nats' predominantly right-handed lineup could use a sprinkling of left-handed batters.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 1/17, 5:14 PM CT
Rob Neyer of ESPN.com reports that second baseman Orlando Hudson may not be getting the recognition he deserves in this year's offseason free-agent market, particularly because of the fact his sterling defensive play goes largely unnoticed. "He's a fine player and could help a lot of teams," writers Neyer. "But the things he does well - particularly his outstanding defense at second base - are too often ignored by just about everybody. And unfortunately for him, that includes the guys who sign the big checks."

Our View: It has been reported the Nationals would be well-served to acquire the services of Hudson, who would provide a steady bat to go along with his impressive glove. While committing no more than 13 errors in any one season, Hudson has averaged nearly 10 home runs and 53 RBI every year since 2002.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 12/27, 4:09 PM CT
Orlando Hudson is on the Nationals' radar, according to MLBTradeRumors.com.

Our View: The Nationals have moved on to Hudson as a potential upgrade for their middle infield after missing out on elite first baseman Mark Teixeira. The Mets could pursue Hudson if they are able to unload Luis Castillo as well.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 12/23, 7:11 PM CT
Orlando Hudson doesn't look like he will return to Toronto, according to MLB.com. "We're done," Blues Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi said. "We won't be spending any money."

Our View: It looks like the Jays will get to duke it out with the Orioles for fourth in the AL East in 2009. The Yankees have spent over $400 million, the Red Sox made the playoffs last year as the AL wild card, and the Rays won the AL pennant last year. The Jays will have a tough time competing with that without improving their club.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 12/22, 1:17 PM CT
The Boston Globe reports that Blue Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi mentioned Orlando Hudson when discussing free agents recently.

Our View: The Blue Jays could certainly improve at second base, and Hudson is the best on the market.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 12/20, 8:37 AM CT
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports believes Orlando Hudson's likely destination is Chicago (AL).

Our View: This seems to be a bold prediction from Rosenthal as there previously hasn't been any mention of Hudson being high on Chicago's radar. Hudson would likely roam second base with Alexei Ramirez working at shortstop.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 12/18, 1:49 PM CT
Fox Sports reports that second baseman Orlando Hudson (wrist) has been cleared by his surgeon to resume all baseball activities.

Our View: Hudson is the best second baseman on the market, but their has not been a lot of action up to this point regarding potential deals.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 12/12, 9:13 AM CT
Orlando Hudson is on the Nationals' radar as an option in case their bid to acquire Mark Teixeira falls short, according to the NY Post.

Our View: The Nationals could use an upgrade in their middle infield, and Hudson would be a solid consolation prize if Teixeira inks elsewhere.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 12/8, 11:25 PM CT
The Kansas City Royals may be interested in acquiring Orlando Hudson or Rafael Furcal, the Kansas City Star reports.

Our View: The team would still probably have to move Jose Guillen and the ridiculous contract they signed him to last year if they want in on either infielder.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 12/8, 12:55 AM CT
Second baseman Orlando Hudson has officially become a free agent after he declined arbitration, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View: Hudson is likely the best availble free agent at his position and there are a number of teams interested in his services.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 12/5, 10:44 AM CT
The Yankees had internal discussions regarding second baseman Orlando Hudson, according to ESPN.

Our View: Hudson would be viewed as an option if the Yankees were to trade Robinson Cano to the Dodgers.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 12/1, 11:08 PM CT
The Diamondbacks offered salary arbitration to Orlando Hudson on Monday, according to the Arizona Republic.

Our View: Hudson played in 107 games last year and hit .305. The second baseman is going to get a good look from several teams this off-season.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 12/1, 9:07 AM CT
The Indians want to upgrade their middle infield, but feel Orlando Hudson and Rafael Furcal would be too risky at their asking price due to health concerns, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: The team is now focusing on adding a closer, with their top targets being Brian Fuentes and Trevor Hoffman. They displayed interest in Jason Isringhausen as well. As for Hudson, he previously mentioned that his preferred destination would be with the Mets.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 11/24, 2:24 PM CT
Orlando Hudson commented that his preferred landing spot would be with the Mets, according to ESPN Radio.

Our View: The Mets would have to deal Luis Castillo before inking Hudson. Cleveland and San Francisco are currently the top contenders to land Hudson, but the Mets would hold an edge if they decide to pursue him.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 11/23, 12:00 PM CT
There is belief that second baseman Orlando Hudson could land on the Mets' radar if they part ways with Luis Castillo, according to NYBaseballDigest.com.

Our View: Cleveland and San Francisco are currently the top contenders to acquire Hudson's services.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 11/21, 12:25 PM CT
MLB.com reports that the Giants are serious in their pursuit of free-agent second baseman Orlando Hudson. He is considered the top option at the position and has drawn the interest of several teams.

Our View: Hudson, who turns 31 on Dec. 12, is among the Majors' most multidimensional infielders. The three-time Gold Glove winner hit a career-high .305 last season with eight home runs, 41 RBIs and a .367 on-base percentage in 407 at-bats. A switch-hitter, Hudson owns a lifetime .282 average.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 11/20, 10:30 AM CT
Orlando Hudson is on the Indians' radar, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: They are waiting for indication that the second baseman's broken left wrist is healed. Assuming he is healthy, Hudson would be a solid addition to shore up the Indians' middle infield as an upgrade over Asdrubal Cabrera.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 11/19, 10:07 AM CT
There is speculation that the Rockies may target second baseman Orlando Hudson, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Troy Renck, who reported the news, is skeptical of this happening, however. Hudson would fit in well, but is going to require a sizable contract in years and money, which is a commitment that is hard to see the Rockies making based on their strong devotion to prospects.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 11/14, 9:21 AM CT
The White Sox are believed to upgrade their infield in free agency and Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports believes Orlando Hudson would be a good fit at second base with Alexei Ramirez moving to shortstop.

Our View: Hudson would be a solid additon for the Sox as he batted .305 over 107 games with Arizona in 2008. That would allow Chris Getz and Jayson Nix to provide depth off the bench.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 11/10, 9:13 AM CT
The Cardinals are reportedly interested in infielder Orlando Hudson but not Felipe Lopez, according to MLBTradeRumors.com.

Our View: Agent Scott Boras is believed to be pushing for a multi-year deal for Lopez. Hudson hit .305 over 107 games with Arizona in 2008, but committed nine fielding errors.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 11/4, 3:40 PM CT
Orlando Hudson is reportedly being targeted by the Yankees, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View: This move would likely involve the Yankees trading current second baseman Robinson Cano, probably for a starting pitcher which the Yankees also could use.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 11/2, 1:28 PM CT
Second baseman Orlando Hudson has filed for free agency, and is unlikely to return to Arizona, according to MLB.com. "Obviously, Arizona is my first choice. But deep down, I know it's not going to happen," said Hudson.

Our View: Hudson is reportedly going to command too much money for the D'Backs to re-sign him. He was having a solid but unspectacular year for fantasy owners when an injury to his left wrist ended his season.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 10/20, 5:13 PM CT
The Diamondbacks have almost no chance of re-signing second baseman Orlando Hudson this winter, MLB.com beat reporter Steve Gilbert notes. He will be out of their price range.

Our View: The D-Backs will lose one of their slickest fielders (think Brandon Webb will notice?) and one of their few hitters who doesn't whiff every third or fourth at-bat. They don't have an obvious in-house replacement after trading away Emilio Bonifacio. Chris Burke seems to be at the top of the depth chart, but we doubt they'll settle for that.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 10/3, 9:46 AM CT
The New York Mets may take a run at signing second baseman Orlando Hudson in the offseason, according to the New York Times.

Our View: The Mets signed Luis Castillo to a four-year, $25 million contract last offseason, and he predictably struggled to live up to the deal. Realistically, it would be difficult for the team to sign Hudson without trading Castillo, but they would still have to eat a big part of his contract.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 10/2, 8:33 AM CT
Diamondbacks second baseman Orlando Hudson will get the pins out that were stabilizing his broken wrist in a week, and will begin his rehab a day later, according to the Arizona Republic.

Our View: Hudson was having a fine season, hitting .305 with eight home runs and 41 RBI before breaking his wrist. He should be fine once spring training rolls around.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 8/19, 8:19 PM CT
Arizona second baseman Orlando Hudson was back in the clubhouse Tuesday, rejoining his team after undergoing two surgeries on his left wrist, according to MLB.com.

Our View: An injury to his left wrist, which has required two surgeries, will keep the Gold Glove second baseman out of action for the rest of the season. Last year, he tore ligaments in his thumb and was forced to miss the final three-plus weeks of the season. During batting practice he walked around with a fungo bat and stood out at his second base position talking with Chris Burke while Burke took grounders.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 8/13, 8:07 AM CT
Orlando Hudson underwent a second surgery on his dislocated left wrist, according to the Arizona Republic.

Our View: The second procedure was a success, and he is facing a three-month recovery, but that timetable could change once Hudson actually begins his rehab process.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 8/10, 9:08 PM CT
Arizona second baseman Orlando Hudson will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery to to repair a dislocated bone in his wrist, according to the AP. He will undergo additional surgery to repair ligament damage at a future date.

Our View: Tough loss for the Diamondbacks and fantasy owners. Hudson was a solid contributor at second base, hitting .305 with eight home run and 41 RBI. He also played outstanding defense. In his place will be Augie Ojeda, who does not belong in fantasy leagues, as he is hitting just .257 with 0 home runs and 16 RBI.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 8/10, 2:47 PM CT
Orlando Hudson has been placed on the 15-day DL due to a dislocated left wrist, according to the AP. Hudson suffered the injury in the sixth inning of Saturday’s loss to Atlanta. Manager Bob Melvin said, "It’s not great, dislocation, fracture of a bone in his wrist, and we’re not 100 percent sure whether he has to have surgery. Probably a pretty good chance, but we will know in the morning. If he has the surgery, he’s out for the rest of the year, and if he doesn’t, there’s still a chance he could be out for the rest of the year."

Our View: Augie Ojeda will now get the bulk of the playing time at second base.

Orlando Hudson will be available to pinch-hit today if needed, according to the East Valley Tribune. Manager Bob Melvin also noted that Hudson could start on Saturday against the Cubs.

Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 5/8, 8:59 AM CT
Orlando Hudson's short-term status remains unclear according to the Arizona Republic. He is nursing a hamstring ailment and Manager Bob Melvin said, "We're kind of going day to day here. I think between today and tomorrow, we'll give it a little bit of time, and hopefully before we go to Chicago tonight we'll have an answer. If he can pinch-hit, I won't have a short bench. If it's seven to 10 days and he can't pitch-hit, it's going to be tough. We're still kind of in between."

Our View: Placing Hudson on the DL remains an option. If he can return in two to four days, the team could use him as a pinch hitter. If he is placed on the DL, Augie Ojeda and Chris Burke would platoon at second base.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 5/7, 5:57 PM CT
Orlando Hudson had an MRI on his hamstring which revealed a strain, according to MLB.com. "Whether it's two, three, four, or five days, we're not really sure," Arizona manager Bob Melvin said. "So we're going to have to process that here in the next couple of days and see what we're going to do."

Our View: The team could still decide to place Hudson on the DL but they will wait a day or two at least before making that call. Meanwhile, Chris Burke will likely pick up a some more work, that is if he can bring up his putrid .140 batting average.

Manager Bob Melvin stated, "I'm prepared not to play him unless they deem him really close to 100 percent. We'll probably stay away from him Sunday."

Our View: The team examination of the leg revealed no serious damage, and Hudson should not miss significant time. Augie Ojeda would cover his spot again at second base, and notably generated six RBI in last night's win over the Mets.

Hudson, with manager Bob Melvin and athletic trainer Ken Crenshaw watching, walked around behind second base before being escorted off the field. "It's just tightness," said Hudson. "It's not the first time I've been through it." Hudson is not believed to be in danger of missing prolonged time, but we will update as news becomes available.

Orlando Hudson, coming back from surgery on his thumb, has been cleared by the training staff to be a full participant in drills, according to MLB.com. However, the D'Backs could take it easy on the second baseman this spring. "Before games start, you get a read on where the soreness will be, if indeed he has any, so I'll kind of monitor that," manager Bob Melvin said. "He's the kind of guy that doesn't need to get 100 at-bats during spring training. He might be a guy that I want to back off early, but until we get through the first few days of hitting off pitchers and so forth, I won't really know." Hudson should be good to go by the time the games start counting, and he'll provide solid production across the board again.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 9/8, 11:45 PM CT
Orlando Hudson will undergo season-ending surgery on his left thumb on Monday, according to the AP. He injured the thumb while sliding head first into third base Tuesday night. "It's not an injury you can play with," manager Bob Melvin said. "It's the right thing to do. We hoped it would get better but it really needs surgery. It's the type of thing you want to do right away." Melvin said Alberto Callaspo will get most of the action at second once his sore hamstring improves. Until then, Augie Ojeda will play second base.

Orlando Hudson isn't a free agent until after the 2008 season, but he already feels as though he won't be back in Arizona. "I don't think I'll be here for the remainder of my career," he told KTAR-AM (620) radio station Monday. "Even for the next couple of years, I don't think I'll be here." Hudson is having a career year in the desert, and the D'Backs would love to lock him up long-term, but they aren't worried about it right now. "He is a key member of our team," GM Josh Byrnes told the Arizona Republic. "He's not a free agent until 2008. First and foremost, we want to exhaust to keep Orlando a Diamondback, and, again, fortunately we have quite a bit of time to see if we can make that work for us and him."

Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 5/26, 6:46 AM CT
Although Orlando Hudson doesn't really want a day off, Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin likely will keep the infielder out of a game in the near future to get some rest, according to the Arizona Republic. "You shouldn't even be asking about that or writing about that 'cause we're not talking about that," the 29-year-old Hudson said. "I'm too young to be sitting out any games. Maybe when I'm 41, I'll start getting a day off." Hudson has played in all 50 games this season and could probably use a day off for the long haul.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 4/9, 10:43 AM CT
Orlando Hudson looks comfortable in the third spot in the Arizona order, the East Valley Tribune reports. He hit .379 the opening week with nine runs, a homer and five RBI. "Your third guy is a guy who a lot of times is your best hitter," manager Bob Melvin said. "I wouldn't argue that he, if not the best, is one of the best. He's able to handle it." Hudson hit second more often than anywhere else last season, but because the No. 2 batter is occasionally called upon to bunt, "I never really fell in love with him at the No. 2 hole," Melvin said. "I don't want to lose his at-bats. It's a real good fit for us there."
