Ramon Santiago, SS, Detroit TigersThursday 6/25, 3:06 PM CT
Ramon Santiago led the way for the Tigers on Thursday afternoon as they defeated the Cubs by a score of 6-5. Santiago went 2-for-3 with a home run, a run scored, and two RBI in the game.

Our View: Santiago is hitting a very solid .289, and overall he is having a pretty decent season when he gets the opportunity. His fantasy value is hurt by the fact that he is not an everyday player, but with Placido Polanco out for now Santiago should see an increase in playing time.
Ramon Santiago, SS, Detroit TigersSunday 4/19, 6:46 PM CT
Shortstop Ramon Santiago was 2-for-5 with five RBI as the Tigers beat the Mariners on Sunday.

Our View: Santiago is not an everyday player, but he is a good producer when given the chance. Should the Tigers suffer an injury at any point, keep an eye on Santiago to see how he performs as a regular.
Ramon Santiago, SS, Detroit TigersMonday 4/13, 3:45 PM CT
Ramon Santiago went 3-for-5 with three RBI in Monday's 10-6 loss to the White Sox at Comerica Park. He hit two singles and a three-run homer, his first of the season.

Our View: Santiago now has five hits over 13 at-bats this season. The utility man is worth a look for deeper AL-only leagues following today's strong performance.
Ramon Santiago, SS, Detroit TigersSaturday 3/7, 5:43 PM CT
Ramon Santiago had a bid day against Philadelphia on Saturday, going 3-for-3 with a double and two stolen bases.

Our View: Santiago is a 29-year-old who hasn't seen significant action in the MLB since 2003, but he's certainly in a fine spot in Detroit with only the less-than-stellar Adam Everett in front of him on the depth chart at shortstop. Santiago is now 6-for-11 this spring and could contend for significant at-bats if he continues to succeed, and he clearly has nice speed.
Ramon Santiago, SS, Detroit TigersFriday 12/12, 10:06 AM CT
Ramon Santiago has signed a one-year deal with the Tigers for $825,000, according to the Detroit Free Press. They have avoided salary arbitration.

Our View: Santiago should spell Adam Everett at shortstop in 2009, and his fantasy value looks to remain limited.
Ramon Santiago, SS, Detroit TigersWednesday 11/12, 9:24 AM CT
Ramon Santiago has a reliable glove and a strong arm, but the Tigers do not view the 29-year-old as a full-time shortstop, according to the Detroit News. GM Dave Dombrowski said, "We've said it many times. We like him. But there's a difference between playing somebody every day. You're talking 150 games, and that's a lot of baseball at the major league level. Our gut instinct is that he would have a hard time handling that. You never know, but it's a gut instinct. I'm not saying that as we weigh our options that it might not be something that ends up happening. We have different spots we're trying to fill, and only so much free-agent cash involved."

Our View: The team does not believe he has the physical makeup to handle a full-time job, and are still shopping for a shortstop.
Ramon Santiago, SS, Detroit TigersSunday 10/5, 3:32 PM CT
The Detroit News speculates that the Tigers could go with Ramon Santiago at shortstop next season until prospect Cale Iorg is ready to contribute.

Our View: It still seems very early to be speculating, but Edgar Renteria has probably played his last game for the team.
Ramon Santiago, SS, Detroit TigersThursday 9/25, 4:02 PM CT
Ramon Santiago hit two home runs on Wednesday as the Tigers beat Scott Kazmir and the Rays 7-5. Prior to the game, Santiago had just one home run this season. He finished the day with three hits, three runs, and two RBI.

Our View: Not sure where the power surge came from. Kazmir gave up four home runs in five innings on Wednesday, so clearly he was putting them on a tee all day long.
Ramon Santiago, SS, Detroit TigersTuesday 7/8, 9:15 AM CT
Ramon Santiago has officially been activated from the 15-day DL, according to the Detroit News. He has recovered from a separated left shoulder. Michael Hollimon was optioned to Triple-A Toledo as the adjoining move.

Our View: Santiano hit .361 over 36 at-bats with four doubles, one triple, and one homer with the Tigers this season, but won't see enough action as a utlility infielder to merit a spot on your fantasy roster.
Ramon Santiago, SS, Detroit TigersMonday 7/7, 11:17 AM CT
Ramon Santiago is expected to be activated from the DL prior to Tuesday's game against Cleveland, according to the AP. Santiago was shelved due to a separated shoulder. Infielder Michael Hollimon has already been optioned to Triple-A Toledo to make room on the roster.

Our View: Santiano hit .361 over 36 at-bats with four doubles, one triple, and one homer with the Tigers this season, but won't see enough action to merit a spot on your fantasy roster.
Ramon Santiago, SS, Detroit TigersWednesday 6/4, 5:43 PM CT
Shortstop Ramon Santiago had to leave today's game in Oakland after appearing to injure his left shoulder while diving at a Rob Bowen single to center. There is no word yet on the severity of the injury.

Our View: Santiago rolled around on the ground and appeared to be wincing in serious pain. The trainer came out to look at the shortstop, touched his shoulder, setting off a jerk reaction from Santiago. At first glance, one should expect the shortstop to spend some time on the disabled list.
Ramon Santiago, SS, Detroit TigersWednesday 11/29, 10:29 AM CT
The Tigers have avoided going to arbitration with Ramon Santiago by re-signing him on Tuesday, according to the Detroit Free Press. The new deal is for one year and will pay Santiago $500,000. He hit .225 with three RBI in 43 games last season.

Ramon Santiago, SS, Detroit TigersWednesday 8/16, 8:37 AM CT
With Placido Polanco out indefinitely with a separated shoulder the Tigers will recall Ramon Santiago from Triple-A Toledo to give their infield some depth, according to the Detroit News. He hit just .206 in 63 at-bats with the club before being sent down late last month.
