Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 3/11, 11:21 AM CT
Brandon Inge, dealing with two surgically repaired knees, will play his first three innings of the spring this Saturday, according to MLB.com's Jason Beck.

Our View: This means he is right on track in his recovery. He should be ready for opening day.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSaturday 2/27, 9:39 AM CT
According to MLive.com, Brandon Inge's surgically repaired knees are healing faster than expected.

Our View: After offseason surgery to correct chronic patellar tendinitis in both knees, Inge was only expected to play in the final two weeks of spring training. But he's apparently recovering well and could see a good amount of time this spring. Expect him to bounce back a bit this year if he is fully healthy, as the knees almost certainly contributed to his miserable second half production (.186-6-26) in 2009.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersWednesday 2/17, 9:52 AM CT
Brandon Inge, who underwent surgery on both of his knees following the 2009 season, claims to be feeling fine and fully on track to start Opening Day, according to the Detroit News.

Our View: Inge was superb heading into the All-Star break last year, sitting at 21 home runs, 58 RBI and an at least respectable .268 batting average but his knees limited him immensely in the second half, when he hit .186 with just six home runs and 26 RBI. Look for his 2010 numbers to be somewhere in between those two extremes, though it'll be tough for him to garner much fantasy value having lost his eligibility at catcher.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 10/22, 8:27 AM CT
Brandon Inge will have surgery this offseason on his troublesome left knee, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Inge struggled with injury in the second half of the 2009 season, and was maybe one of the worst offensive players in the league after making the American League All-Star team. After the Midsummer Classic, he hit just .186 in 75 games (263 at-bats).
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSunday 9/6, 3:56 PM CT
Brandon Inge hit a game-winning grand slam in the top of the ninth inning to give the Tigers a 5-3 win over the Rays. Inge was 1-for-4 on the game.

Our View: Inge may have only gotten one hit today, but it was a monster one. The Tiger offense had been shut down for much of the game by Rays' rookie Wade Davis, but he took advantage against the suspect Rays' bullpen. Inge has 27 homers on the year, and while he has struggled much of the second half, he continues to show some power.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersTuesday 9/1, 9:22 PM CT
Brandon Inge went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer off Carlos Carrasco in tonight's 8-5 win over Cleveland at Comerica Park.

Our View: Inge collected his 26th homer of 2009, and should remain a good source for power if fantasy owners can handle his .239 batting average. He is one homer away from tying his season-high of 27, set back in 2006.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersFriday 8/28, 10:50 PM CT
Brandon Inge delivered on many levels Friday night. He went 2-for-4 and popped his 25th home run of the season in the Tigers' 6-2 win over the Rays.

Our View: What made Inge's home run so special was that he visited a sick child named Noah in the hospital that day and promised the youngster that he would hit one out for him. Much like Paul O'Niel in his Seinfeld cameo, Inge delivered the goods. Nice going B.I.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 8/20, 4:10 PM CT
Brandon Inge went 1-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBI in Thursday's 7-6 win over the Mariners at Comerica Park. His other RBI came on a sacrifice fly.

Our View: Inge hit his third homer of August, and his 24th of 2009. He should remain a solid source for power if fantasy owners can handle his .243 batting average. He needs three more homers to tie his season-high of 27, set back in 2006.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersFriday 8/14, 8:40 PM CT
Brandon Inge carried the Tigers in tonight's 1-0 win over the Royals at Comerica Park, as he went 1-for-4 with a solo homer off Roman Colon in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Our View: Inge ended a seven-game skid without a homer, and is now tied with Miguel Cabrera for the team lead with 23.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 8/13, 11:45 AM CT
Brandon Inge will get the day off on Thursday. Gerald Laird is behind the plate and Ryan Rayburn will man the hot corner for the afternoon game against the Red Sox.

Our View: Inge has been struggling with soreness in his knees in the second half, so days off are much needed. He should return tomorrow, so fantasy owners should adjust their rosters accordingly.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 8/6, 4:27 PM CT
Brandon Inge pounded a two-run homer in the second inning to help the Tigers to a 7-3 win over the Orioles on Thursday. Inge went 2-for-4 in the game with two runs scored and two RBI.

Our View: Inge has been slowed significantly by injury in the second half, and fantasy owners have not been getting the same player they had in the first half. Still, he can produce when he is feeling good, so owners should keep playing him unless you have an adequate backup.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 7/30, 6:53 PM CT
According to a report at FoxSports.com, the Detroit Tigers don't plan to target a third baseman through a trade. The Tigers have been rumored to be in the market for someone who could play third while Brandon Inge heals from knee injuries.

Our View: Inge has been struggling since the break because of his sore knees, but the Tigers don't appear to be shopping for a starting third baseman. They could use someone who could be a reliable option, but right now it looks like the Tigers are content with their situation.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSunday 7/26, 10:00 PM CT
Brandon Inge went 0-for-3 on Sunday in the Tigers 5-1 loss to the White Sox, making him just three for his last 16.

Our View: Inge is battling bad knees, and has now not homered sine July 12. His best 2009 days could very likely be behind him.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 7/23, 12:45 PM CT
Brandon Inge is back in the lineup for the Tigers on Wednesday.

Our View: He will patrol the hot corner and hit seventh against the Mariners and starter Jarrod Washburn. Apparently Inge's knees are feeling better, at least for the time being.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersWednesday 7/22, 5:04 PM CT
Brandon Inge is out of the Tigers' lineup for tonight's game against Seattle to rest his ailing knee, according to MLive.com.

Our View: Ryan Raburn will cover the hot corner in his place. Inge believes he will play the remainder of the season with his right knee bothering him a little, and his left knee bothering him a lot. He has a tear in his left patella tendon, and a trip to the DL is a possibility if a doctor can guarantee that he would be pain-free for the rest of the season.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 7/9, 5:38 PM CT
Brandon Inge has claimed the final spot on the AL All-Star team, according to MLive.com.

Our View: He edged Ian Kinsler of Texas for the final spot, and the 32-year-old vet will be an All-Star for the first time of his career. Inge earned the honor by leading the Tigers with 19 home runs and 54 RBI.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSunday 7/5, 6:36 PM CT
Brandon Inge went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer off Nick Blackburn in Sunday's 6-2 loss at Minnesota.

Our View: Inge continues to lead the Tigers with 19 homers and 54 RBI. He should remain productive among fantasy corner infielders with the AL Central-leading Tigers.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersTuesday 6/23, 8:54 PM CT
Brandon Inge went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer off Carlos Zambrano in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Cubs at Comerica Park. His other knock was a single.

Our View: Inge is now tied with Curtis Granderson for the team lead with 17 homers. Seven of his homers were launched from Comerica Park.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSunday 6/21, 3:15 PM CT
Brandon Inge was all the offense the Tigers needed on Sunday. He went 2-for-3 with a home run and drove in all three of Detroit's runs in their 3-2 win over the Brewers.

Our View: Inge now has 16 homers on the season and has driven in 47 runs. Surprising pop from the breakout Tiger. He looks to be on pace to top his career high of 27 homers that he set in 2006. He's never had more than 16 in any other season besides that year.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 6/18, 11:19 PM CT
Brandon Inge went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Thursday's 6-3 win at St. Louis. Both of his knocks were singles.

Our View: Inge has five hits and two RBI over his last three games. He is only hitting .272 for the season, but still leads the Tigers with 43 RBI.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersFriday 6/12, 8:49 PM CT
Brandon Inge went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Friday's 3-1 win at Pittsburgh.

Our View: Inge hit his second homer over his last four games, and now co-leads the Tigers (with Curtis Granderson) with 14. Inge should remain a solid source for power in fantasy leagues.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersMonday 6/8, 4:18 PM CT
Brandon Inge led the Tigers in Monday's 5-4 win at Chicago, as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI. He hit a double and a single.

Our View: Inge has a hit in three straight games, and notched two RBI in each of his last two. He is hitting well so far this month after struggling through May with a .235 batting average.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 6/4, 3:26 PM CT
After striking out five times in his last two games, Brandon Inge went 3-for-4 with two RBIs in the Tigers 6-3 loss to the Red Sox on Thursday, raising his average ten points to .280.

Our View: Inge continues to be a surprise this season, and is a versatile fantasy option capable of providing power at three different positions. Still, his greatest value is as a catcher, and his viability at third and in the outfield should taper off as the year progresses.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersFriday 5/22, 8:52 PM CT
Brandon Inge continues to crush. On Friday, he hit his 12th home run of the season and collected two more RBI in the Tigers 4-3 win over the Rockies.

Our View: After hitting .319 in April, he is hitting just .233 in May. However, he is hitting home runs at a similar pace and he is in no danger of losing his everyday job as he has been playing Gold Glove defense at third base.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersWednesday 5/20, 9:53 PM CT
Brandon Inge stayed hot on Wednesday in the Tigers' 5-3 win over the Rangers. Inge went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, a run scored, and two RBI.

Our View: It seems like Inge is going to have to fall hard at some point this season, but right now he looks like the real deal. Keep playing him, but it may be a good idea to shop him now while he is hot so you can get more than he is worth.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersFriday 5/15, 11:07 PM CT
Brandon Inge was excellent on Friday in the Tigers' 14-1 win over the A's. Inge was 2-for-4 with a grand slam, three runs scored, and five RBI.

Our View: Inge isn't showing any signs of cooling off, so keep playing him while you can. Don't expect him to keep this up all season, but we have been saying that all year so he could keep it up for longer than we thought.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 5/14, 12:13 AM CT
Brandon Inge continues to swing a hot bat. He was 3-for-5 with a two-run homer in the Tigers extra-inning loss to the Twins.

Our View: Inge now has nine homers on the season and is just two away from his 2008 total. He likely won't keep this up, so it might be a good time to try and deal him to an unsuspecting opponent. You'll get more for him now than ever.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSunday 5/3, 3:05 PM CT
Brandon Inge dropped another bomb on Sunday as the Tigers beat the Indians 3-1. Inge was 1-for-3 in the game, and he now has eight homers on the year.

Our View: Inge for MVP? Just kidding, but anyone who has him needs to make sure he is in the lineup every day for the foreseeable future. When his power numbers start to fall off, get him out or try to trade him for more than he is worth.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSunday 4/26, 4:49 PM CT
Brandon Inge hit a two-run homer in the Tigers' 3-2 win over the Royals on Sunday. He now has seven on the season.

Our View: Maybe in the off season Inge decided he was going to be a power hitter this year. Whatever he did to convince himself, it's working. Seven dingers, 17 RBI and a .323 average makes for a nice April for fantasy owners, but beware of the Chris Shelton factor. Hot April's don't always translate to good full seasons.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersFriday 4/24, 12:25 AM CT
Brandon Inge hit his sixth home run of the season, but the Tigers fell to the Angels 10-5. The blast was a solo shot and his only hit on the day.

Our View: Inge is having a monster start to the season. He's homered in two straight now and is hitting .315 with 15 RBI to go along with his six bombs.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 4/23, 12:53 AM CT
Brandon Inge was big again on Wednesday for the Tigers, as he went 3-for-5 with a homer, a run, and two RBI. His average now sits at .320.

Our View: Inge continues to hammer everything he sees at the plate, as he knocked his fifth homer of the season tonight. Don't expect him to do this all year, but ride him now while you can.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSaturday 4/18, 11:50 PM CT
Brandon Inge was 2-for-4 and recorded the only RBI of the game as the Tigers clipped the Mariners 2-0 in a pitching duel on Saturday.

Our View: Inge has four homers and ten RBI this season to go along with a .289 average. The man that fantasy owners forgot is starting to turn some heads this season. He might make a decent reserve to plug in, in head-to-head leagues.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSunday 4/12, 2:57 PM CT
Brandon Inge went 2-for-4 with three RBI in Sunday's 6-4 win over the Rangers at Comerica Park. He hit a single and a homer.

Our View: Inge is off to a hot start as he racked up four homers and seven RBI over seven games. He hit a homer in three straight games at Toronto to start the season.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersWednesday 4/8, 8:43 PM CT
Brandon Inge hit his third home run of the season as the Tigers beat the Blue Jays 5-1 on Wednesday. The solo shot was his only hit of the game, but he did also manage to get a stolen base.

Our View: Inge has four hits through three starts - three home runs and a double. He will man the hot corner all season for the Tigers and he is catcher eligible. He should provide nice production while plugged in as the catcher in fantasy lineups.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersMonday 4/6, 9:37 PM CT
Brandon Inge was 1-for-4 with two RBI and a home run while starting for the Tigers at third base in Monday's 12-5 loss to the Blue Jays.

Our View: Inge has catcher eligibility and he should provide good value at that position while being the Tigers' every day third baseman. He struggled at the plate last season, but has been a mostly reliable hitter for his career when playing every day.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersTuesday 3/10, 4:44 PM CT
Brandon Inge went 1-for-4 with an error in Tuesday's loss to St. Louis.

Our View: Inge played in only 113 games last year, hitting just .205 with 11 home runs and 51 RBI. The Tigers and fantasy fans are wondering if he can return to the player that he was in 2006, where he hit 27 homers and drove in 83 runs.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersMonday 11/17, 10:36 AM CT
The Detroit Tigers are thinking about putting Brandon Inge at shortstop should they be unable to fill the void left by Edgar Renteria, reports Peter Gammons of ESPN.com.

Our View: Inge was slated to take over the third base role next season, and he is a slick fielder who was a shortstop in college, so it is not an idea that comes out of nowhere.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSunday 9/28, 6:22 PM CT
The AP reports that the Tigers plan to make Brandon Inge their everyday third baseman and to play Carlos Guillen in left field.

Our View: Inge made just one error in 49 starts at third this season. Hopefully, with regular playing time he can improve upon his .203 average from 2008. Don't count on it though. As an everyday player for most of August and September he hit a pitiful .176.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSunday 9/28, 1:52 PM CT
Brandon Inge is going to cover third base next season with Carlos Guillen moving to left field, according to the Detroit News.

Our View: Moving Inge to third creates an opening for a starting catcher, but the Tigers have no intention of re-signing Ivan Rodriguez, despite the fact he'll be a free agent. There is already speculation that the club could be interested in Gerald Laird of the Rangers, if made available in a trade.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSunday 9/14, 11:00 AM CT
Inge is unlikely to play in Sunday's doubleheader due to his grandfather's funeral, the Tigers' team website reports.

Our View: If he does miss Sunday's games, he will be back with the Tigers on Monday.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 7/31, 7:12 PM CT
Brandon Inge has been given the starting catcher's job for the rest of this season and 2009 as well, according to the Detroit Free-Press Inge started out the year seeking a trade because he did not have a position to play on a regular basis.

Our View: Quite an odd year for Inge. No matter what position he plays, however, unless he raises that batting average, he has little use in fantasy baseball.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersWednesday 7/30, 4:10 PM CT
With the trade of Ivan Rodriguez to the Yankees, Brandon Inge appears to be in line to take over full-time catching duties for the Tigers.

Our View: Inge is only hitting .227 on the year, but he is 9-for-32 (.281) in July with seven RBI, and could make a great waiver-wire grab for those who start two catchers. The Tigers may not be done trading, so keep an eye on if they bring in another catcher to share time with Inge.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersTuesday 7/29, 10:16 PM CT
Detroit catcher Brandon Inge was a force at the plate in support of the 8-5 win over the Indians, going 2-for-3 with his eighth homer of the season, totaling three RBIs and one run scored on the night.

Our View: Inge has steadily improved over the season in spot action and is enjoying his best month yet, hitting .281 with two home runs and seven RBIs on the month.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 7/10, 9:38 AM CT
Brandon Inge was recalled from his rehab assignment and will re-join the Tigers, according to the Detroit News.

Our View: Inge returns from his unfortunate pillow accident, and maybe his numbers will improve with the time off. He has little fantasy value, with a .215 average and 45 strikeouts in 144 at-bats.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersWednesday 7/9, 7:11 PM CT
The Detroit Tigers team website suggests that Brandon Inge could be back with the team as soon as Thursday.

Our View: Inge was scheduled to catch for four innings and play third base at Triple-A Toledo tonight, and the team will see how he comes out of game.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersWednesday 7/9, 7:39 AM CT
Brandon Inge, who is trying to bounce back from a pulled left oblique, had his second straight successful rehab outing for Triple-A Toledo Tuesday night (against Scranton), according to the Detroit News. The utility man played catcher for the first five innings and had two hits and an RBI.

Our View: He remains hopeful he can return to the Tigers not long following the All-Star break.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersTuesday 7/8, 9:12 AM CT
As expected, Brandon Inge began his minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Toledo on Monday, while he recovers from a pulled left oblique, according to the Detroit News.

Our View: He notably hit a three-run homer and is optimistic he can return to the Tigers not long following the All-Star break.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSunday 7/6, 4:17 PM CT
Brandon Inge will begin his rehab assignment on Monday at Triple-A Toledo, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Inge is recovering from a strained oblique. He probably will not return prior to the All-Star break. Currently, he is not a factor in fantasy leagues as he has struggled all year. He won't see regular starts without injuries to Tigers starters.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersFriday 7/4, 6:14 PM CT
Brandon Inge hit a round of soft-toss, did some jogging, and fielded ground balls on Friday, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He is making favorable progress in his recovery from a pulled left oblique, but skipper Jim Leyland does not expect him back before the All-Star break, and he will not be rushed back into action.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersFriday 6/27, 1:54 PM CT
Brandon Inge recently went on the DL with a pulled oblique muscle. Seems he injured the muscle in a pillow accident, according to the Detroit News. "I have a 3-year-old son who sleeps in the bed with my wife and me," Inge said. "I was trying to push the pillow down behind his head (two nights ago), and when I did ... I repopped (the strained muscle).

Our View: If Inge can stay away from pillows, blankets and other hazardous items, he should be able to return in a few weeks.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersWednesday 6/25, 3:07 PM CT
Brandon Inge has been placed on the 15-day DL, according to the Detroit News. The move was made retroactive to Monday, and the team called up catcher Dane Sardinha from Triple-A.

Our View: Inge has been struggling all season, hitting only .215 with six home runs.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersWednesday 6/18, 3:21 PM CT
Ivan Rodriguez is behind the plate on Wednesday because Brandon Inge is dealing with a strained left oblique, MLB.com notes. Inge suffered the injury two weeks ago, and it is affecting his hitting. "I'm going to give Inge a day and the day off, see if that helps him," manager Jim Leyland explains. "Because he's not right, and I'm worried about that."

Our View: Leyland only recently installed the catcher rotation between Inge and Pudge, and it looks like that plan may not be in place for near future.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersMonday 6/9, 8:07 PM CT
Brandon Inge started at catcher Monday for the second time in the last three games, and manager Jim Leyland plans on having Inge and Ivan Rodriguez split time behind the dish for a while, according to MLB.com. "I'm going to catch these guys every other game for a while," Leyland said.

Our View: Inge has catcher eligibility now in most leagues, so he wouldn't be a bad pickup.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersTuesday 6/3, 10:06 AM CT
Brandon Inge sat out Monday's game after tweaking his left oblique on a check swing Sunday, according to the Detroit News. Manager Jim Leyland said, "Obliques are tricky. I don't know how well he's able to swing."

Our View: Inge stated that the injury is minor, but the team has to be cautious with him, since he is their backup catcher. That sent Carlos Guillen to third base for Monday's game.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSunday 5/25, 12:15 PM CT
Brandon Inge started at catcher today in place of Ivan Rodriguez, according to the Star Tribune. He is batting ninth in the lineup.

Our View: Inge remains a favorable bench player in AL-only leagues due to his versatility. He racked up four homers and 19 RBI over 105 at-bats this season, along with six doubles, one triple, and 13 runs scored.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 5/22, 3:33 PM CT
Brandon Inge went 1-for-4 and blasted a three-run homer in Thursday's 9-2 win over the Mariners.

Our View: That was his fourth homer of the season, to go along with 19 RBI. He remains a favorable bench player for AL-only leagues, especially due to his versatility.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersTuesday 5/6, 8:05 PM CT
Brandon Inge will continue to see more time behind the plate, MLB.com reports. "I think I'm comfortable now," Inge says. "I think I'm comfortable with catching." Heading into the season, Inge hadn't been behind the plate since 2004. He has played four different positions already this year.

Our View: Inge doesn't hit well enough to be used in mixed leagues, but his versatility comes in handy in AL-only formats. Pudge Rodriguez is getting a bit long in the tooth, and we imagine Brandon will be a regular fill-in.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 4/24, 7:17 AM CT
Brandon Inge will serve as the Tigers' catcher today against Texas, according to the Detroit Free Press. Ivan Rodriguez will get the day off.

Our View: Inge is hitting .250 over 60 at-bats, with two homers, one stolen base, and 13 RBI in 21 games. Those are favorable numbers for a fantasy catcher, and he is worth starting if he is eligible at catcher in your league, and if you lack a better option.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersWednesday 4/23, 3:38 PM CT
Brandon Inge will start at third base tonight for the Tigers, according to The Detroit News. Miguel Cabrera will serve as the DH.

Our View: Inge is among the most valuable utility men in the league, and is worth starting tonight if you have him on your roster, preferably as a corner infielder. Curtis Granderson is back in center field tonight, and Inge will see less playing time going forward, unless someone gets hurt.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersWednesday 4/16, 9:50 AM CT
Brandon Inge is going to return to the bench when center fielder Curtis Granderson comes back, and the team commented on the situation, according to the Detroit News. Manager Jim Leyland noted, "He'll swing from place to place, and I think he'll get a lot of at-bats, but he understands that when things straighten out, he won't be a regular. That's just the way it is. He's aware of that. I'm sure he's not happy about it, but he'll handle it the best he can."

Our View: His fantasy stock will start to drop when Granderson comes back, but he is still worth holding onto as a reserve, in case someone gets hurt. Inge is a great utility man, who can literally play any position.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSaturday 4/12, 12:33 PM CT
Brandon Inge is starting at third base today, according to MLB.com. Miguel Cabrera is playing first in place of the injured Carlos Guillen.

Our View: Inge should be in your lineups as well, as he has collected two homers and nine RBI over 10 games played this season, with a .294 average.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSaturday 4/12, 10:40 AM CT
Brandon Inge could possibly start at catcher for the Tigers on Sunday against division rival Chicago, according to the Detroit News. Manager Leyland commented, "Inge could start at catcher. Maybe, with Kenny Rogers on the mound. But I don't know for sure."

Our View: The team needs to keep him on the field wherever they can fit him as he has been their most consistent offensive weapon, with a .294 average over 10 games, with two homers, nine RBI, and one stolen base.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 4/10, 5:57 PM CT
In the Tigers eight games this season, their ninth tonight in Boston, the team has had four different leadoff hitters, with Brandon Inge getting the call tonight against knuckleballer Tim Wakefield, this according to MLive.com. Inge hasn't led off since Sept. 10, 2006. He led off four times that season, and 74 times the year before. Jim Leyland cited Inge's numbers against Wakefield (6-for-22, 2 home runs). The other leadoff hitters the Tigers have used in Granderson's absence are Edgar Renteria, Pudge Rodriguez and Clete Thomas. The Tigers still aren't sure how soon Granderson will return. He said today that he's making good progress, but still doesn't know how soon he'll be taking batting practice.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSaturday 4/5, 6:15 PM CT
Brandon Inge was the hitting star of Saturday for the Tigers as he had two hits and three RBI in the Tigers loss to the White Sox. Inge has already seen time at third base and outfield, though we are still waiting for him to try on the tools of ignorance. No matter where he plays Inge is hitting in the early going with a .375 mark in 16 AB.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersFriday 4/4, 10:43 AM CT
Brandon Inge will start at third base again on Friday, as Miguel Cabrera has shifted to DH, the Detroit News reports. We assume this means Clete Thomas will get another start in center.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 4/3, 3:33 PM CT
Brandon Inge fared well as he replaced Miguel Cabrera at third base against Kansas City on Thursday, as he went 2-for-3 and drove in the Tigers' only run on a solo homer in a 4-1 loss. Inge is among the most solid utility men in the league, evidenced by today's performance.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 4/3, 11:07 AM CT
Brandon Inge is expected to cover third base today while Miguel Cabrera sits out with a sore quad, according to the Sports Network. Not many teams have a utility man as solid as Inge, and hopefully he can help prevent Detroit from an 0-3 start.

The Brandon Inge watch will begin on Monday as the catcher, turned third baseman turned center fielder will take center stage when the Tigers open the regular season. Injured center fielder Curtis Granderson will miss another two-weeks minimum.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersMonday 3/24, 1:29 PM CT
Tigers manager Jim Leyland told the Detroit News that Brandon Inge will "probably start" in center field against the Royals on opening day. With Curtis Granderson out for the next three weeks to a broken finger, Inge will see playing time in center. Inge still holds the same fantasy worth despite this role. He offers fantasy owners some cheap long-balls, but his career batting average depreciates his overall value.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersFriday 3/21, 5:42 PM CT
Brandon Inge added a new position to the list on Friday as he played SS for the Tigers, this according to MLB.com. "We can't work with him at 30 places, you know?" manager Jim Leyland said. "We're trying to do a little work with him right now at shortstop, talking to him about positioning and stuff. But we can't cram everything in." Now we don't know this for a fact, but we would be willing to bet that no player has ever qualified at C, 3B, LF, CF and SS in the same season. Inge might redefine the term "super-utility" this season if he isn't traded.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 3/20, 11:10 AM CT
Brandon Inge could be on the Dodgers' radar, according to the Detroit News. The injury status of Garciaparra has led to speculation that the Dodgers could be interested in Inge. GM Ned Colletti commented, "We'll continue to see if we can figure out a replacement from within or outside." The Tigers have been aggressively shopping Inge, who became expendable when the team acquired Miguel Cabrera in an off-season trade. As of now, Blake DeWitt is the leading candidate to man third base for the Dodgers.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSaturday 3/15, 9:08 AM CT
Brandon Inge started at shortstop Friday before the game was rained out, according to the Detroit Free Press. "I want to see what he looks like there," manager Jim Leyland said. "If he pinch-hits, he might have to stay in a game there." Inge won't likely see much, if any, time at short this season, but that's now the sixth position (catcher, third, all three outfield spots) that he's played this spring.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersWednesday 3/5, 9:08 PM CT
In his never ending attempt to play every position on the field, Brandon Inge started in CF for the Tigers on Wednesday, this according to MLB.com. "It's really common sense out there," he said. "It's almost like a golf game. Just figure out the elements and play them." Inge, if he isn't traded, could serve as the backup at C, 3B and CF given his overall athletic ability. Still, without the knowledge of ample AB, it'd hard to recommend him at this point.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersTuesday 3/4, 10:23 AM CT
Brandon Inge has made his feelings about catching pretty obvious, and manager Jim Leyland says he won't make Inge catch if he doesn't want to. "Read the paper this morning. It's obvious. He does not want to catch," Leyland said in the Detroit Free Press. "I'm not going to force somebody to catch. He's doing all the right things, saying all the right things. He's a professional. He's one of my favorites. I want him to play third base somewhere everyday. Is that going to happen? I have no clue." The Tigers have been trying to trade Inge since they acquired Miguel Cabrera in December but have so far had no takers. Obviously his fantasy value is minimal so long as he's in Detroit in a backup role.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersWednesday 2/27, 9:15 AM CT
Manager Jim Leyland said that Vance Wilson's slow recovery from Tommy John surgery won't affect the team's ability to trade Brandon Inge. Inge has been working out at catcher, but he'd like to play third everyday somewhere, according to the Detroit News. His fantasy value is very limited as long as he remains in Motown.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersSaturday 2/23, 9:43 AM CT
Brandon Inge didn't take part Friday in one of the Tigers' most demanding drills of this spring so far, according to the Detroit News. Skipping difficult drills like that has led to speculation that the Tigers may be nearing a trade. Inge doesn't want to work in a utility role this season, so the Tigers are believed to be trying to move him.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersWednesday 2/20, 9:42 AM CT
Brandon Inge is not interested in staying with the Tigers in a utility role this season with an eye on catching in 2009, according to the Detroit News. Since the Tigers don't want an unhappy player in the clubhouse, it looks like the club will trade him as soon as they can find a reasonable offer.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 2/14, 3:15 PM CT
Tigers manager Jim Leyland said Thursday that there's a "strong possibility" that Brandon Inge will still be traded, according to the Detroit News. With Miguel Cabrera now in tow, Inge would be used in a utility role if he remains in Motown. Obviously it depends on where he would end up, but Inge's fantasy value is sure to go up if he gets dealt, because he doesn't appear to be in line for much playing time in Detroit.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersTuesday 2/12, 12:40 PM CT
If Vance Wilson isn't ready to go at the beginning of the year, Brandon Inge will be the Tigers' backup catcher, according to the Detroit News. Inge hasn't caught an inning since 2004. His fantasy stock obviously took a huge hit with the Miguel Cabrera acquisition, but his value would be salvaged a bit if he happens to gain eligibility at catcher.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersTuesday 1/29, 10:28 AM CT
Brandon Inge called Detroit reporters on Monday and, among other things, said he's willing to catch this season as part of his duties in a super-utility role now that Miguel Cabrera has been acquired to play third base, according to the Detroit Free Press. There's a chance that Inge could become the Tigers' full-time catcher in 2009 if Ivan Rodriguez, who's entering the last year of his deal, doesn't return. Inge will be a solid fantasy option at catcher as soon as he gets in enough games to quality at the position.
Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersTuesday 12/11, 11:06 AM CT
The Tigers and Pirates have discussed a deal involving Brandon Inge over the last couple of days, but it's unclear how close the two sides are to a deal, according to the Detroit Free Press. Inge became expendable once the Tigers acquired Miguel Cabrera from the Marlins. A trade is the only way he'll get playing tim on a consistent basis.

Brandon Inge, 3B, Detroit TigersThursday 5/31, 1:03 AM CT
Brandon Inge has a small chip in his left toe, and although the team is calling him day-to-day, he's feels he'll likely miss a few games, the Tigers official site reports. Inge left Tuesday's game early and didn't play Wednesday; X-rays on Wednesday revealed the small chip fracture in the toe. Inge has been told that the injury won't worsen if he plays on it, so as soon as the swelling subsides and the pain becomes manageable, he'll be on the field again, wearing a metal support in his shoe until the toe heals completely.
