Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsThursday 2/11, 6:51 PM CT
According to Joe Cappozi on Twitter, the Marlins have signed infielder Mike Lamb to a minor league contract.

Our View: Lamb will get an invite to spring training as part of the deal, but he'll have to ramp up his play if he wants to make the team. He hasn't played in the majors since stints with the Twins and Brewers in 2008. Last year was spent in the Mets organization at Triple-A Buffalo and he posted just a .261/.299/.370 line in 466 plate appearances. If he does somehow make the club, he would just be a lefty bat off the bench.

Mike Lamb will be a candidate to be recalled from the minors to provide depth at first base if Carlos Delgado lands on the DL with his hip ailment, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Ramon Martinez is another potential candidate. The 33-year-old Lamb is a career .277 hitter in the majors, but would only be worth consideration for NL-only and deeper mixed leagues if recalled for a short stint with the Mets.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsSaturday 4/25, 12:07 PM CT
Mike Lamb ha signed a minor league deal to join the Mets, three weeks after he was released by the Brewers, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View: Lamb hit .235 with a home run in 247 ABs last season in Minnesota and Milwaukee, and his only value is his versatility. He doesn't figure to be sighted in New York at any time in the near future.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsFriday 4/3, 2:12 PM CT
Mike Lamb has cleared release waivers with Milwaukee and is now a free agent, according to MLB-Blogs.com.

Our View: The Brewers did not have a roster spot for him, and he wanted to be released rather than be sent to the minors.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsThursday 4/2, 7:48 AM CT
Mike Lamb has been waived by the Brewers, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: He told the Brewers he would rather be released rather than be sent to Triple-A Nashville. He will be free to pursue work with another club once he clears waivers.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 3/31, 10:54 PM CT
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Brewers have reported that Mike Lamb won't make the club out of spring. He has been bumped in favor of Casey McGehee.

Our View: Lamb just simply didn't do enough in spring and lost out to a hotter bat. He'll have the option of either reporting to the Triple-A club after clearing waivers or electing to test out free agency.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 12/9, 11:03 AM CT
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Brewers GM Doug Melvin is expected to announce the re-signing of third baseman Mike Lamb on Tuesday.

Our View: Lamb will not likely have a starter's job next season, but he is a nice veteran presence for the Brewers' young clubhouse.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsMonday 12/8, 5:11 PM CT
The Milwaukee Brewers are making an attempt to re-sign third baseman Mike Lamb, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Lamb was acquired by Milwaukee in September and batted just 11 times, getting three hits. He'd be a role player with the Brewers and have little fantasy relevance.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsFriday 9/5, 12:57 PM CT
Mike Lamb has been acquired by the Brewers after clearing waivers with Minnesota, according to the AP. Catcher Lou Palmisano has been designated for assignment to make room on the roster.

Our View: He was added to the contending Brewers' bench for the stretch run, but the 32-year-old is not eligible to play in the postseason. He will see action at third base, but does not merit fantasy attention.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsFriday 9/5, 8:51 AM CT
Mike Lamb has cleared waivers and has been unconditionally released by the Twins, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View: He can sign with another club, but the Twins are responsible for the remainder of his two-year deal, worth roughly $3.8 million.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsMonday 8/25, 6:14 PM CT
The Twins essentially admitted they made a mistake by signing Mike Lamb to a two-year, $6.6 million contract before the season, as they designated the third baseman for assignment, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. They will still have to pay the remainder of Lamb's contract next year, which is $3.8 million.

Our View: Small market clubs like the Twins can't really afford to make many mistakes like this, but they had no choice but to DFA Lamb. He was hideous this year, hitting .233 with one home run and 32 RBI in 236 at-bats. He had no fantasy value.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsFriday 6/13, 6:11 PM CT
Surprisingly Mike Lamb is starting at third base as the Twins play an interleague game in Milwaukee. Lamb is 0-for-10 against Brewers starting pitcher Dave Bush.

Our View: This speaks volumes about the limited bench the Twins have, and why they are at the bottom of the league in runs scored and extra base hits.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 6/10, 5:02 PM CT
Mike Lamb is out of the lineup again on Tuesday, but he may get the start against the Indians on Wednesday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune notes. The third baseman has played only once since last Friday.

Our View: Lamb is 0-for-19 this June, while rookie Matt Macri is hitting .389 (7-for-18) since his call-up. This looks like a platoon situation for the near future.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsTuesday 5/27, 10:43 AM CT
Struggling third baseman Mike Lamb is starting to get on track as he raised his batting average from .224 to .248 this weekend by going 5-for-9 at Detroit, according to the Star Tribune. He also hit his first homer of the season, but he said, "I’m not really a home run hitter, so I’m more worried about my batting average and getting hits in key situations."

Our View: Lamb is batting .400 with runners in scoring position, and his 20 RBI are tied for third on the team. Hopefully he won't regress, but is still not fit to consider for your roto-lineups.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsSaturday 4/12, 3:13 PM CT
Mike Lamb is nursing a foot ailment, and will sit out of action tonight, according to the Star Tribune. He should be fine, and is listed as day-to-day.

Our View: Nick Punto will fill in at third base.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsThursday 4/10, 9:44 AM CT
Mike Lamb left Wednesday's game against Chicago in the ninth inning after fouling a ball off his right foot, according to the Star Tribune. He had X-rays taken, which revealed a bruise. He is listed as day-to-day. Lamb is only hitting .214 so far, so he won't be much of a loss to your team right now.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsMonday 4/7, 6:56 PM CT
Mike Lamb, off to a terrible start in his first year in Minnesota, had two hits and two RBI on Monday for the Twins. Lamb is hitting .167 in 24 AB to open the year, and though he should still see the majority of work at third base, if he doesn't start hitting soon Nick Punto could start to steal some at-bats.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 3/12, 1:49 PM CT
Mike Lamb, out since Thursday because of a strained left hip, said he hopes to return to the lineup Friday, this according to the Star Tribune. Lamb's only fantasy value rests in AL-only formats
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsSaturday 3/8, 10:04 AM CT
Mike Lamb sustained a bruised hip this week and aggravated it during Friday's game, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. It sounds like a minor ailment, but the Twins will hold him out of a couple of games to rest up.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsFriday 12/14, 5:02 PM CT
Mike Lamb agreed to a two-year contract with the Twins Friday. The deal also includes an option for the 2010 season, according to the AP. Lamb, who batted .289 with a .366 OBP and 11 homers in 311 at-bats last year, will receive the majority of the at-bats at third base for the Twins next season. Lamb's arrival means significantly less playing time for Nick Punto.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsFriday 8/31, 11:25 AM CT
Mike Lamb's playing time will be limited down the stretch. Interim manager Cecil Cooper informed Lamb Wednesday that he wants to keep Lance Berkman at first and out of right field and Ty Wigginton will get the bulk of the time at third, which leaves Lamb on the bench. "He basically told me I was going to be a bench player and I was going to pinch hit and play against tough righthanded hitters, and I guess you could say I was less than enthused about it," Lamb said in the Houston Chronicle. "But it wasn't unexpected." Lamb has been very good for the Astros this year when called upon, hitting .293 with 11 homers and 38 RBI in 283 at-bats.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsWednesday 5/23, 11:38 AM CT
Mike Lamb batted leadoff for the Astros on Tuesday. He entered the game leading the team with a .429 OBP, according to the Houston Chronicle. "He's been doing a pretty good of getting on base," manager Phil Garner said. "He had a little rough series against San Francisco (in Houston), but he's been doing a good job of getting on." Lamb went 1-for-4 with a run scored in the game. It's unclear if Garner plans to stay with this alignment for the time being, or if it was just a one-time thing.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsMonday 1/15, 9:09 PM CT
Mike Lamb signed a one-year, $2.7 million deal with Houston Monday, according to the AP. Lamb hit .307 with 12 home runs and 45 RBI in '06.
Mike Lamb, 3B, Florida MarlinsSaturday 8/5, 8:17 AM CT
Despite hitting .321 with 10 homers this season, Mike Lamb will return to the bench for the Astros, now that Lance Berkman and Morgan Ensberg are back in action, according to the Houston Chronicle. "Lamb's the odd man out right now," manager Phil Garner said. "In a sense, that gives you a strong bench because that gives us a little left-handed power off the bench. I'd rather have Lamb in the lineup, but also there's advantages (to having him on the bench), too."
