Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 3/5, 7:12 PM CT
Vicente Padilla threw two perfect innings in Friday's 8-3 win over the White Sox. He had no walks or strikeouts.

Our View: Padilla should be a quality No. 4 starter for Los Angeles, and will have good enough support to improve upon his 12 wins of 2009.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 1/21, 12:59 PM CT
Ken Gurnick of MLB.com is reporting that the Dodgers have signed pitcher Vicente Padilla to a one-year, $4 million deal.

Our View: The $4 million is being called his base salary, so he will likely have the opportunity to make more through incentives. Padilla pitched well after joining the Dodgers in August last season, but considering he has not posted an ERA below 4.46 since 2003, it's hard to believe he will be an impact pitcher next season.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 1/17, 2:10 PM CT
Vicente Padilla "remains a candidate to be re-signed" by the Dodgers, according to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times.

Our View: Padilla was dynamite for the Dodgers after joining them late last August, going 4-0 in eight games (seven starts) with a 3.20 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 39.1 innings. Considering Los Angeles' budget constraints, he could be the only free agent starter they can still afford.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 12/8, 4:10 PM CT
According to the Washington Post, the Nationals are interested in free agent right-hander Vicente Padilla.

Our View: Padilla, who rejuvenated his career with the Dodgers after putting up a 3.20 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in seven starts last season, would be a nice fit for the Nats. They obviously aren't going after any big budget acquisitions, but Padilla should be relatively inexpensive and would add a veteran presence to a very young rotation.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 12/3, 8:06 PM CT
The Cardinals and Cubs are believed to be interested in Vicente Padilla, according to MLB writer Matthew Leach's twitter page.

Our View: Padilla went 12-6 with a 4.46 ERA over 147.1 innings in 2009, and the 32-year-old vet would potentially have a good supporting cast to succeed if either of the aforementioned teams sign him.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 11/8, 9:21 AM CT
The Dodgers could be re-thinking bringing back Vicente Padilla for the 2010 season after he accidentally shot himself in the leg in a bizarre accident in his home country of Nicaragua last week, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Padilla's clutch pitching down the stretch last season had all the makings of a contract drive, and it may not be wise of the Dodgers to sink major dollars into a pitcher that was designated for assignment twice in the same season for being a clubhouse cancer in Texas. His 4.46 season ERA for 2009 was his lowest since 2003 with the Phillies.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 11/4, 8:13 AM CT
According to the LA Times, Dodgers starter Vicente Padilla was treated for a minor gunshot wound in a Nicaragua hospital on Tuesday.

Our View: The wound was apparently self-inflicted and Padilla's agent is calling it a "hunting accident". The pitcher was treated for 30-40 minutes after being rushed to the hospital and it appears the bullet just grazed his leg. Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be another "Plaxico situation" as the Dodgers were looking into resigning the revamped veteran next season.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 10/21, 11:04 PM CT
Vicente Padilla came back down to Earth in a big way on Wednesday as the Dodgers were hammered by the Phillies in the deciding Game 5. Padilla lasted only three innings and allowed six runs on four hits while walking two and striking out three.

Our View: Padilla had been the best Dodger starter in the postseason, but he got absolutely hammered in this do-or-die game for LA. After being one of the best stories of the postseason, this is a tough way for Padilla and the Dodgers to go out.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 10/18, 7:15 PM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Dodgers' manager Joe Torre is considering moving Vicente Padilla up in the rotation to pitch Game 5. Padilla would jump ahead of Game 1 starter Clayton Kershaw if Torre makes the move.

Our View: Padilla would be on regular rest thanks to an extra off-day, and he has been the team's best pitcher so far in the postseason. Torre hasn't made a decision yet, but we will let you know when he does.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 10/16, 6:17 PM CT
Vicente Padilla only surrendered one earned run on four hits over 7.1 innings in Friday's 2-1 win over the Phillies in Game 2 of the NLCS at Dodger Stadium. He had one walk and fired six strikeouts.

Our View: The Dodgers were trailing 1-0 when he exited, so Padilla took a no-decision rather than a win. He helped the Dodgers even the series at 1-1, and the club will try to move ahead in Game 3 at Citizens Bank Park.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 10/14, 5:33 PM CT
The Dodgers have set their rotation for the NLCS, and Vicente Padilla will pitch Game 2 after Clayton Kershaw goes in Game 1, according to the Twitter page of USA Today's Bob Nightengale. Padilla will be followed by Hiroki Kuroda in Game 3 and Randy Wolf in Game 4.

Our View: Padilla was very good in Game 3 of the NLDS, so he gets the nod in Game 2. Wolf, who started Game 1 against the Cardinals, gets pushed back to fourth in the rotation, and Kuroda will be making his first appearance of the postseason.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 10/10, 8:14 PM CT
Vicente Padilla only surrendered four hits over seven scoreless innings in Saturday's 5-1 win in Game 3 of the NLDS at St. Louis. He had one walk with four strikeouts.

Our View: Padilla was dominant tonight as he helped the Dodgers sweep the series on the road at Busch Stadium. The club will now await the winner of the series between the Rockies and Phillies.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 10/4, 8:11 PM CT
Vicente Padilla held the Rockies to just one run on four hits over five innings on Sunday. He improved to 12-6 after the 5-3 win and fanned ten against zero walks.

Our View: Padilla is 4-0 since joining the Dodgers this season and has struck out 38 in just 39.1 innings. Looks like he found new life in LA as he was 8-6 with an ERA near five and just 59 Ks 108 innings with the Rangers.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 9/24, 10:04 PM CT
Vicente Padilla got knocked around a bit by the Nationals on Thursday, but the Dodgers managed to pull out the win by a score of 7-6. Padilla allowed four runs in five innings while walking three and striking out six.

Our View: Padilla has been excellent since coming to the Dodgers, but he wasn't great tonight. He couldn't get deep into the game, but his offense bailed him out and got the team the win.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 9/12, 11:20 PM CT
Vicente Padilla easily handled a fading Giants team on Saturday night, allowing just three hits and zero earned runs in six innings, as L.A. won 9-1 on the road.

Our View: Padilla's National League surge continues. In four starts since coming to the senior circuit, he is now 2-0 with a 2.01 ERA.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 9/7, 6:34 PM CT
Vicente Padilla allowed two earned runs on six hits over six innings in Monday's 7-2 win at Arizona. He had one walk with three strikeouts.

Our View: Padilla earned his 10th win of 2009, and allowed two or less earned runs in each of his three starts with the Dodgers. He is benefiting from a return to the NL since leaving Texas.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 9/2, 12:29 AM CT
Vicente Padilla held the Diamondbacks to just one run on four hits and two walks over 5.1 innings on Tuesday. He fanned five but did not factor in the decision.

Our View: Padilla has now been solid in both starts as a Dodger this season and looks like a reinvented pitcher since battling swine flu and getting out of the band box that is the Ballpark at Arlington.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 8/27, 5:51 PM CT
Vicente Padilla had a good first outing for the Dodgers on Thursday, allowing just two Colorado runs in five innings, as L.A. won 3-2 to increase its NL West lead to four games.

Our View: Call it the "NL effect." Padilla had allowed three runs or fewer just once in his final five starts for the Rangers this season, but will be highly motivated in Los Angeles as he pitches for a new contract, and should fare well against the NL West's anemic offenses.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 8/27, 1:03 PM CT
MLBlogs.com reports that the Dodgers have activated newly acquired starter Vicente Padilla.

Our View: To make room for Padilla, the Dodgers moved Jason Schmidt to the 60-day DL and optioned Tony Abreu to Triple-A. He will get the start today against the Rockies, but shouldn't be counted on in fantasy leagues.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 8/19, 6:33 PM CT
Accrding to Jayson Stark of ESPN, the Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to a deal with Vicente Padilla. Padilla was waived by the Rangers earlier this month.

Our View: Padilla doesn't look to be much of an upgrade for the Dodgers, making this signing a bit curious, especially considering the reports that Padilla has been bad in the clubhouse. This is not the groundbreaking deal that will propel the Dodgers to the World Series, but he will provide some depth. He should not be considered much of a fantasy threat for the rest of the season.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 8/19, 12:53 PM CT
The Dodgers are nearing a deal with the recently designated-for-assignment Vicente Padilla, according to Fox Sports.

Our View: There's a way to save a pitching staff and dwindling division lead - sign a clubhouse cancer with a 4.92 ERA that was so loathed by his former team they designated for assignment twice in the same season. Good luck, Los Angeles.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 8/18, 5:17 PM CT
According to FOXSports.com, the Dodgers allegedly have some interest in right-hander Vicente Padilla.

Our View: Padilla is expected to clear waivers on Wednesday after the Rangers officially released him on Monday. The Dodgers need rotation help as they charge towards October and with Hiroki Kuroda's health in jeopardy after being hit in the head, Padilla looks an affordable, if not reliable, option. He is available for the prorated portion of the league minimum, and the Rangers will eat the rest of his salary.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 8/17, 2:55 PM CT
FoxSports.com is reporting that the Rangers have officially released starting pitcher Vicente Padilla. Padilla was designated for assignment by the team ten days ago.

Our View: The Rangers have said all along they they had no desire to bring Padilla back, so this is no surprise. He is expected to clear unconditional release waivers on Wednesday, and then he will be free to sign with any team he chooses. Look for someone to take a chance on him despite his 4.92 ERA and the rumors of him being a bad teammate.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 8/9, 9:44 AM CT
The Dallas Morning News reports that Vicente Padilla was released by the Rangers because he "simply was bad chemistry for an up-and-coming team."

Our View: That, and he was not a good pitcher. In 2009, Padilla went 8-6 with a 4.92 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. He was also constantly endangering Rangers hitters by throwing at other team's batters. The fact that he has a live arm, and a pulse, though, likely means he'll catch on somewhere else.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 8/7, 6:47 PM CT
Vicente Padilla has been designated for assignment by the Rangers, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: The Rangers do not intend to bring him back, likely after getting lit up for six earned runs over 5.2 innings in his last start at Oakland. His fantasy stock is not likely to improve if he finds work with another team.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 8/5, 11:53 PM CT
Vicente Padilla was roughed up for six earned runs on seven hits over 5.2 innings in Wednesday's 7-5 loss at Oakland. He had two walks and four strikeouts, and was tagged for three homers.

Our View: Padilla had a nightmarish outing, and falls to 8-6 for the season. He allowed five or more earned runs in three of his last five starts, and will remain an unstable fantasy option for his next trip to the hill.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 7/31, 11:43 PM CT
Vicente Padilla issued three earned runs on six hits over six innings in Friday's 5-4 win over the Mariners at Rangers Ballpark. He had one walk and three strikeouts.

Our View: Padilla improves to 8-5, and pitched pretty well while coming off a case of swine flu. He should be fine to consider for fantasy lineups in his next turn in the Rangers' rotation.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 7/30, 7:04 PM CT
ESPN.com is reporting that Rangers' starter Vicente Padilla is improving from his case of Swine Flu and is expected to start Friday aganst the Marinrs. Padilla hasn't pitched in two weeks while dealing with the ailment.

Our View: Padilla said he is feeling much stronger than he has in recent weeks, and it looks like he will be good to go barring some sort of setback. Padilla owners may want to give him a start or two to get his strength back, but he should be fully recovered before long.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 7/28, 4:08 PM CT
Vicente Padilla (swine flu) has been scratched from his scheduled Tuesday start, according to MLB.com's Jason Beck.

Our View: Well, yeah. Why Padilla was trying to pitch through America's most feared ailment isn't exactly clear, but he likely won't skip his next go round. Doug Mathis is starting in his place.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 7/25, 6:42 PM CT
According to the Kansas City Star, no other reported cases of Swine Flu have been found among Ranger players and staff members besides Vicente Padilla.

Our View: Padilla is responding to medication and is recovering nicely. He is still on track to make his next scheduled start on Tuesday.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 7/24, 8:10 PM CT
Vicente Padilla has tested positive for swine flu, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: His symptoms are subsiding, and he is expected to make his next scheduled start in the Rangers' rotation Tuesday against the Tigers. He is doing well with medication, and was able to throw a pen session Friday.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 7/22, 4:10 PM CT
Vicente Padilla has been scratched from tonight's start against the Red Sox due to flu-like symptoms, according to MLBblogs.com.

Our View: Dustin Nippert will fill his spot in the rotation tonight. The Rangers did not speculate when Padilla may make his next start.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 7/17, 11:20 PM CT
Vicente Padilla took the loss on Friday as the Rangers fell to the Twins 5-3. Padilla went seven innings and allowed five runs on 11 hits while striking out three. He is now 7-5 on the season.

Our View: Padilla saved the bullpen a bit tonight, but he was not good in his seven innings. He has been solid for the most part this season, and he should still be a good play as the second half progresses.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 7/9, 8:34 AM CT
According to the Dallas Morning News, Rangers' starter Vicente Padilla suffered a bruised palm on Wednesday after being struck in the hand with a Howie Kendrick ground ball. Initial diagnosis shows nothing broken, and he should be good to go for his next start.

Our View: The Rangers appeared to bit a bit concerned that his hand might be broken, but it looks like he will be fine. Padilla isn't scheduled to start again until after the break, so his hand should be healed by then. Fantasy owners shouldn't worry too much about this situation.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 7/9, 12:09 AM CT
Vicente Padilla had a solid outing against the Angels on Wednesday, scattering eight hits and a walk over six innings. He allowed just one earned run and struck out four in Texas' 8-1 win.

Our View: Padilla is now 7-4 on the season and bounced back nicely tonight from a rough outing on June 29th (five earned in five innings). Prior to that game he had racked up a 3-0 record with four quality starts in four outings.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 7/6, 7:39 PM CT
Vicente Padilla has indicated that he is fit to start Wednesday's game against the Angels, according to the Dallas Morning News. He has been nursing a sore shoulder.

Our View: The Rangers will likely push the other hurlers in the rotation back a day, with Tommy Hunter pitching on Thursday, Derek Holland on Friday, Scott Feldman on Saturday and ace Kevin Millwood taking the hill on Sunday. That schedule is subject to change.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 7/2, 9:03 AM CT
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that Vicente Padilla has had his next start pushed back to Tuesday due to a sore shoulder.

Our View: The Rangers don't feel the injury is serious, so Padilla will miss the Tampa Bay series but should be good to go next week. Manager Ron Washington offered some solace for fantasy owners, "He said it's no big deal. If he wants to get pushed back, we're going to listen."
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 6/29, 10:13 PM CT
Vicente Padilla was lit up for five earned runs on 10 hits over five innings in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Angels at Rangers Ballpark. He had two walks and five strikeouts, and was tagged for two homers.

Our View: Padilla was a disappointment after only allowing one run over seven innings in his last outing at Arizona. He should remain an inconsistent performer among fantasy hurlers.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 6/24, 11:49 PM CT
Vicente Padilla was in control from the bump in Wednesday's close 2-1 win at Arizona, as he only issued one earned run on six hits over seven innings. He had two walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: Padilla has collected three wins over his last four starts, and is worthy of fantasy lineups for his next turn in the Rangers' rotation.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 6/18, 10:27 PM CT
Vicente Padilla gave up three earned runs on seven hits over six innings in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Astros at Rangers Ballpark. He had three walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: Padilla had a two-game winning streak snapped, as he ended the night with a no-decision. He has issued 14 walks over his last four starts, and needs to improve his control for his next trip to the hill.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 6/12, 11:31 PM CT
Vicente Padilla only gave up four hits over five scoreless innings in Friday's 6-0 win over the Dodgers at Rangers Ballpark. He had three walks and two strikeouts.

Our View: This was a strong performance for Padilla despite only lasting five innings. He has won in each of his last two starts, and has five wins for the season. He is worth a look for AL-only leagues for his next trip to the hill.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 6/7, 5:26 PM CT
Vicente Padilla had a nice outing on Sunday and picked up his fourth win of the season. He allowed just two earned runs on four hits and four walks over seven innings as the Rangers doubled up the Red Sox 6-3.

Our View: Padilla cleared waivers yesterday and then came right out and beat the Red Sox the next day. Still, his ERA is sitting at a bloated 5.22 and he remains a risky fantasy choice.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 6/6, 2:30 PM CT
According to the Dallas Morning News, Vicente Padilla is still on schedule to make his start on Sunday at Fenway Park.

Our View: Padilla cleared waivers, but the Rangers appear to still want him in the rotation. He threw a bullpen session on Friday and looks ready to go. However, he is not a stable fantasy option.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 6/5, 4:04 PM CT
Vicente Padilla has cleared waivers with the Rangers, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: Padilla was not expected to get picked up by another club as he still has around $8MM left on his contract for this year. He held a 5.57 ERA over 53.1 innings this season, and his fantasy stock remains low.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 6/3, 3:17 PM CT
Ken Rosenthal of Foxsports.com is reporting that the Rangers are placing SP Vicente Padilla on outright waivers. Teams will have until 1 p.m. on Friday to claim the burly right-hander and his $8 million salary.

Our View: While sudden, Padilla being put on waivers shouldn't come as a big surprise. His ERA has ballooned to 5.57, and he is coming off a truly embarrassing display at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday when he twice hit Yankees slugger Mark Teixeira to load the bases. It is unlikely any team will be willing to pay his remaining salary, so in all likelihood Padilla will end up getting released by the Rangers on Friday. Consider him a fantasy no-go for the time being.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 6/2, 2:13 PM CT
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram is confirming that Vicente Padilla will be activated from the disabled list to start Tuesday night's game. In a corresponding move, the team will send down Guillermo Moscoso.

Our View: Padilla threw a bullpen session on Sunday and felt fine, so he should be good to go tonight. If you have him, get him in your lineup if you must, but you may want to wait on him if you can since he is pitching at the launch pad known as new Yankee Stadium.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 6/1, 4:45 PM CT
Vicente Padilla reported no problems after his Sunday afternoon bullpen session and is ready to go for Tuesday according to The Dallas Morning News.

Our View: There is zero indication Padilla will not make his start. Adjust your lineup accordingly.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 5/29, 5:13 PM CT
According to the Star-Telegram, Vicente Padilla threw a bullpen session on Friday and deemed himself ready to go.

Our View: As expected Padilla will come off the disabled list and start Tuesday against the Yankees. He has another bullpen session scheduled for Sunday and expects to feel just as good in that one. Fantasy owners should pencil him in for Tuesday.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 5/26, 5:14 PM CT
Vicente Padilla threw from 120 feet on Tuuesday, according to MLBlogs.com. Padilla is expected to throw a bullpen session on Friday and could return to the rotation next Tuesday.

Our View: Padilla looks to be right on track to join the rotation next week. Tuesday is the day Derek Holland is supposed to pitch, so he may be making his way back to the bullpen. Padilla has to pass all of his tests before any of this takes place.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 5/25, 1:31 PM CT
Vicente Padilla, who is recovering from a strained muscle behind his pitching shoulder, threw off flat ground Monday, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: He could be cleared for a bullpen session tomorrow if he threw without any issues. Padilla could return to the Rangers' rotation in early June, barring a setback in his recovery.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 5/23, 7:38 AM CT
As expected, Vicente Padilla has been placed on the 15-day DL by the Rangers, according to the Associated Press. He is dealing with a strained muscle behind his pitching shoulder.

Our View: He has been pitching well as of late among the Rangers' starters, and this is a tough loss for the club and fantasy owners in AL-only leagues. Derek Holland gets the first chance to replace him in the rotation while on the shelf.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 5/21, 5:40 PM CT
According to the Dallas Morning News, Vicente Padilla will be placed on the 15-day disabled list on Friday. He is suffering from a strained muscle behind his pitching shoulder.

Our View: There is no timetable for his return, which doesn't sound good. This comes at an inopportune time for the Rangers as Padilla had strong outings in his last three starts. Padilla will be replaced by rookie Derek Holland in the rotation.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 5/16, 7:30 PM CT
Vicente Padilla was good on Saturday as the Rangers beat the Angels 5-3. Padilla went eight innings and allowed three runs on ten hits while walking three and striking out two.

Our View: Padilla moved to 3-2 with the win, but his ERA is still a bit too high at 4.71. He is not a big threat for strikeouts, but he usually provides quality starts and gives his team a chance to win. Don't be surprised if he ends up with a decent win total, but his ERA won't be great.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 5/10, 3:58 PM CT
Vicente Padilla evened his record at 2-2 with his win on Sunday. Padilla went seven innings and allowed only one run on one hit while walking one and striking out one.

Our View: Padilla only struck out one today, but he was masterful. His only blemish was when Jermaine Dye scored on a wild pitch. Padilla has been average this season, but he still has value in AL-only leagues and possibly some very deep mixed leagues.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 5/5, 7:13 PM CT
Vicente Padilla was locked in a pitchers' duel today, but he did not factor into the decision as the Rangers beat the Mariners 7-2 in ten innings. Padilla went eight innings and allowed one run (zero earned) on one hit while walking three and striking out four.

Our View: Padilla was nearly untouchable today, but his team couldn't solve Mariners' pitching until the extra frame. Although he didn't get the win, he dropped his ERA a run abd a half with this start. More outings like this could get Padilla moved up the fantasy dept chart.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 4/24, 9:35 PM CT
Vicente Padilla did not factor into the decision on Friday, going 6.2 innings and allowing four runs on seven hits with three walks and four strikeouts. The Rangers got two runs in the ninth to win the game 5-4.

Our View: Another below average performance for Padilla, and the only reason he did not get the loss was that his team made a furious comeback late in the game to get the win. His fantasy value is in question right now, even in AL-only leagues.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 4/13, 10:41 PM CT
Vicente Padilla was hit hard and often by the Orioles in a 10-9 loss on Monday. He allowed 11 hits and seven earned runs in 3.1 innings of work.

Our View: Padilla is in a contract year, but don't expect his previous days of glory. However, he has not been a very good fantasy option since 2003, so don't put any faith in him this season.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 4/4, 10:03 AM CT
Vicente Padilla exited Friday's start against the Royals after two innings due to slight stiffness in his right forearm, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Padilla noted that the ailment shouldn't prevent him from starting next Wednesday's game.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 3/13, 6:35 PM CT
Vicente Padilla lost his second game of the spring Friday to the Royals, allowing two runs on three hits in three innings of work.

Our View: Padilla had a good year in 2008, but was not overly impressive, posting a 4.74 ERA over 171 innings to go along with his 14 wins. To be effective on a consistent basis, he'll have to cut down on the homers (26 allowed in '08) and lower the 1.46 WHIP.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 3/7, 7:43 PM CT
Vicente Padilla put together a fine performance against the White Sox on Saturday, shutting them out in four innings while allowing just one hit and one walk, though he did fail to strike anyone out.

Our View: Padilla was able to bounce back after a poor performance at the beginning of the month against Seattle. Still, he's a mediocre pitcher that is unlikely to have any value in any league other than a deeper AL-only type.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 11/21, 11:45 AM CT
Rangers pitcher Vicente Padilla has been named the club's 2008 Pitcher of the Year in voting by the local chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America.

Our View: That should tell you how desperate they are for pitching in Arlington. Padilla was 14-8 with a 4.74 ERA in 29 starts for the Rangers. He led Texas in wins, innings (171), strikeouts (127) and ERA.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 9/20, 11:49 PM CT
Vicente Padilla was rocked for five earned runs on seven hits over six innings in Saturday's 7-3 loss to the Angels, with three walks and five strikeouts.

Our View: Padilla falls to 13-8 and his ERA climbs to 4.85. He held a 1.47 WHIP heading into the loss, and should only be employed in AL-only leagues for the last week of the season.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 9/14, 9:40 PM CT
Vicente Padilla, making his second start since returning from the DL, failed to pick up his 11th win of the year on the road despite allowing just two runs in five innings on the hill.

Our View: Padilla continues to do enough in most outings to be in line for a win given the Rangers offense, but with a 5.05 ERA and a 1.49 WHIP over his last nine stars, he isn't of much use in standard fantasy leagues.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 9/12, 8:34 PM CT
Vicente Padilla has requested to start Sunday on four days of rest as opposed to his scheduled start on Monday. The Rangers will grant his wish according to MLB.com.

Our View: Fantasy owners rejoice. Now the starter is slated to face the lowly Oakland A's offense as opposed to the Detroit Tigers' order. He allowed just one unearned run in his start last Tuesday.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 9/10, 12:30 AM CT
Fresh off the DL, Vicente Padilla held the Mariners to six hits and one unearned run on Tuesday night. He walked one, struck out five, and improved to 13-7.

Our View: We'll chalk this up more to the Mariners awful offense than Padilla having excellent stuff. The right-hander has been a surprising source of wins this year, but he hasn't pitched consistently since May.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 9/9, 9:24 PM CT
The Rangers have activated Vicente Padilla from the 15-day DL. He was out due to a strained hamstring. Padilla will start on Tuesday night against the Mariners.

Our View: Padilla has mainly been either awful or injured since the end of May, although he is 5-4 during that time. He shouldn't be trusted much by fantasy owners at this point.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 9/7, 7:20 PM CT
Vicente Padilla will return to the Texas Rangers on Tuesday when the team heads to Seattle to face off against the Mariners, according to TexasRangers.com.

Our View: Padilla went on the DL with a strained hamstring. He is not a player fantasy owners should rely on, unless they are in deep AL-only leagues.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 8/30, 10:23 PM CT
Vicente Padilla has been placed on the 15-day DL with a strained left hamstring, according to the AP. To fill his spot on the roster, Texas recalled righthander Kameron Loe from Triple-A Oklahoma.

Our View: The 30-year-old hurler has gone 12-7 with a 4.98 ERA in 25 starts for the Rangers, and this will mark his second trip to the DL this season.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 8/28, 2:48 PM CT
Vicente Padilla will miss Friday's scheduled start due to pain in a joint near his neck, according to the Star-Telegram.

Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 8/27, 9:16 AM CT

Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 8/24, 10:28 PM CT
Vicente Padilla only pitched five innings, but it was a good five innings, as he surrendered three runs but struck out eight batters, ultimately getting a no-decision in Texas' 4-3 loss to Cleveland.

Our View: Padilla has not been good in August, and he has not won a game since July 25. Fantasy owners can likely do better in their rotations.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 8/24, 11:44 AM CT
Texas RHP Vicente Padilla tries to snap a four-start skid when the Rangers and the Cleveland Indians close out a three-game weekend series tonight at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: The 30-year-old Texas right-hander, who won two straight starts in late July to improve to 12-5 this season, has since gone 0-2 with a pair of no-decisions and seen his earned run average rise from 4.56 to 4.96. His July 25 defeat of Oakland earned him win No. 12 and doubled his total from an injury-plagued 2007, when he was 6-10 in 23 starts with a 5.76 ERA in 120 1/3 innings. Padilla is 2-2 in five lifetime starts against the Indians with a 7.09 ERA in 26 2/3 innings.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 8/16, 6:43 PM CT
Vicente Padilla will miss his scheduled start on Sunda due to an inflamed muscle joint in his neck, the AP reports. Dustin Nippert will take his place against the Rays. Padilla is tentatively rescheduled to work on Tuesday against the Tigers.

Our View: Padilla has been a pain in the neck for fantasy teams since his solid work in April and May. We wouldn't count on him next week.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 8/13, 6:29 PM CT
The Rangers have announced their plans for the pitching rotation, a group under stress due to injury, for the coming days, according to the Dallas Morning News. The Rangers will send Tommy Hunter to the mound tomorrow, followed by Kevin Millwood on Friday, Matt Harrison on Saturday, and with a bit of surprise, Vicente Padilla on Sunday.

Our View: Padilla underwent an MRI exam on Monday and received a cortisone injection in attempt to ease discomfort in his neck. This schedule gives him a bit of rest, but we will see if he is truly ready for action on Sunday. We'll continue to track the situation moving forward.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 8/12, 7:11 PM CT
Vicente Padilla spent the off day Monday in Arlington having an MRI and taking a cortisone injection for a bothersome joint near his neck that forced him to the disabled list last month, according to the Ft. Worth Star Telegram.

Our View: His status for his next scheduled start Thursday remains in question. Tommy Hunter would be the starter in the series finale against Boston if Padilla can't go. We'll keep you posted.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 8/5, 7:52 PM CT
Vicente Padilla has returned to Nicaragua to attend a family matter, but he will return in time for his Saturday start against the Orioles, MLB.com reports.

Our View: The flight time shouldn't bother Padilla too much, but we wonder if divided attention is the reason his ERA has ballooned over the past six starts.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 8/4, 10:49 PM CT
Rangers pitcher Vicente Padilla gave up four earned runs in six innings while striking out five in Texas' win over the Yankees.

Our View: Padilla was not great in July, and this is not a very good start for August. He's still a decent fantasy option, but watch our for his rising ERA.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 8/2, 8:28 AM CT
The Texas Rangers fired pitching coach Mark Connor and bullpen coach Dom Chiti, according to the AP. Triple-A pitching coach Andy Hawkins will take over the same role in the big leagues, and Jim Colborn will become the team's bullpen coach.

Our View: The Rangers have the worst ERA in all of baseball, and the worst in the AL by more than half a run. Texas is the only team in baseball whose bullpen and starters have an ERA over 5.00. This change certainly can't hurt.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 7/30, 10:39 PM CT
Texas RHP Vicente Padilla found another strong outing off the mound this evening, going seven innings to allow three runs (all earned0 on 10 hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

Our View: It was just his fourth start this month, going 2-1 through July with a no-decision this evening. There have been more runs allowed over recent weeks than at the start, leaving us to ponder if he will fall of the pace coming down the stretch.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 7/25, 5:50 PM CT
The Texas Rangers are open to trading pitcher Vicente Padilla, despite the fact he leads the team in wins, according to ESPN.com.

Our View: The 30-year-old Padilla is making $11 million this season, so the Rangers would happily move him if they can get a younger, cheaper hurler in return.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 7/20, 7:26 PM CT
The Rangers failed to enjoy much success at the plate today, leaving RHP Vicente Padilla to earn the 1-0 victory almost entirely with his pitching arm. Padilla went seven innings, allowing no runs on three hits with two walks and no strikeouts.

Our View: Padilla coerced 12 ground-outs on the day and threw just 80 pitches, getting his 11th win to move to 11-5 with an ERA of 4.41.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 7/20, 12:21 PM CT
Vicente Padilla has recovered from his strained neck muscle and has been activated from the DL, according to the Sports Network. The team optioned infielder German Duran to Triple-A Oklahoma to make room on the roster.

Our View: Padilla is slated to start Sunday's game against the Twins. Padilla holds a less than impressive 4.70 ERA and 1.45 WHIP this season, but maintains a 10-5 record. He should remain a favorable option in AL-only leagues.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 7/13, 8:29 AM CT
Vicente Padilla will throw a bullpen session in Nicaragua on Monday, and then another in Minnesota on Thursday, and if all goes well, he will start next Sunday against the Twins, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: Padilla has had a decent but not spectacular year, and his results for fantasy play have been mixed. His 10 wins are great, but that 4.70 ERA and 1.45 WHIP are not. Keep an eye on his injury status before putting him back in your lineup.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 7/8, 9:28 AM CT
Vicente Padilla, who is battling a bruised right thumb and neck strain, has been scratched from his scheduled start on Wednesday, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: Dustin Nippert was an option to take his place, but not now as he threw 103 pitches in long relief on Monday.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 7/6, 12:32 PM CT
Vicente Padilla, who is nursing a sore shoulder and bruised thumb, won't throw until tomorrow back in Arlington, according to the Dallas Morning News. The team was previously hopeful he would be able to throw a bullpen session today.

Our View: His status for his next scheduled start on Wednesday remains in question.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 7/6, 8:58 AM CT
Vicente Padilla's sore right shoulder was still bothering him on Saturday, according to the Star Telegram.

Our View: The Rangers are hopeful Padilla can throw a bullpen session Sunday and make his next scheduled start against the Angels on Wednesday. He is also nursing a bruised right thumb, and if he cannot take the hill for his next start, Matt Harrison of Triple-A Oklahoma is said to be a candidate for the spot.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 7/5, 10:33 AM CT
Vicente Padilla suffered a neck strain in addition to his bruised right thumb on Friday night, the Dallas Morning News reports. He is questionable for his next scheduled start.

Our View: We assume the sore neck comes from watching opposing batters knock his pitches around all the field. Padilla has been awful his last two starts and maybe a skipped turn wouldn't be such a bad thing.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 7/4, 6:09 PM CT
Vicente Padilla has sustained a bruised right thumb, which forced him to leave Friday's game against the Orioles in the third inning, according to the AP. He was struck in the hand by a hard single from Freddie Bynum.

Our View: His X-rays came back negative, but his status for his next start on Wedneday is to be determined.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 7/4, 5:54 PM CT
Vicente Padilla was forced out of action tonight due to an apparent leg injury, after allowing eight earned runs over 2.2 innings against the Orioles.

Our View: We will keep you posted when more details regarding his injury are revealed.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 6/28, 11:11 PM CT
Vicente Padilla allowed seven runs on seven hits, walked three and struck out three on Saturday night in an 8-6 loss to his former team, the Philadelphia Phillies.

Our View: The right-hander was 8-1 his previous 11 starts and had won three in a row.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 6/28, 11:07 AM CT
One of the hottest hands in the league, RHP Vicente Padilla , looks to keep his Texas Rangers in the win column today as they host the Philadelphia Phillies, according to the Sports Network.

Our View: Padilla spent a good part of his career in Philadelphia, and from 2002 to 2005 the right-hander was a part of the team's rotation, racking up a 44-42 ledger. Padilla has been a force for the Rangers this season, going 10-3 with an ERA of 3.74, including a record of 7-1 over his past 10 starts.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 6/22, 4:50 PM CT
Vicente Padilla did just enough to give his team's offense a chance to shine on Sunday and the result was his 10th victory of the season. Padilla held the Nationals to three runs over seven innings and left the outing with a 3.74 ERA.

Our View: Padilla hasn't been dominating in many of his outings this year, but he has also kept the Rangers in almost every game in which he has taken the hill. Expecting 20 wins is a stretch, but if he continues to pitch like this he will be a fine no.4 starter in mixed leagues.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 6/22, 11:21 AM CT
The Rangers are hoping RHP Vicente Padilla can keep his hot hand going as Texas welcomes the Washington Nationals, countering with LHP John Lannan, according to the Sports Network.

Our View: Padilla enters off consecutive wins including a 7-5 victory over Atlanta, holding the Braves to two runs (one earned) on two hits over six innings. He is now 7-1 with a 3.16 ERA over his last 10 starts. He has faced the Nationals 14 times over his career, going 3-4 with a 3.99 ERA. On the other hand, Lannan has allowed just two earned runs in each of his past four starts, but has nothing to show for it. He has dropped three straight starts and four decisions overall, receiving no more than two runs of support in any of his last six appearances.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 6/17, 10:32 PM CT
Texas RHP Vicente Padilla continues to enjoy a strong '08 campaign, tonight pushing his Rangers to a 7-5 win over Atlanta. Padilla pitched six innings, allowing just two runs (one earned) on two hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: This brings Padilla to a record of 8-1 over his last 11 starts.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 6/6, 6:30 PM CT
The Rangers reinstated Vicente Padilla from bereavement leave Friday. He will start tonight against the Rays.

Our View: Aside from his ugly WHIP (1.45), Padilla has been a nice fantasy performer this season, with a 7-2 record, 3.67 ERA and 54 Ks.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 6/4, 4:52 PM CT
The Rangers expect Vicente Padilla back from his bereavement leave tomorrow, and he will make a start Friday, notes the Star-Telegram. Scott Feldman will pitch Saturday and Doug Mathis Sunday.

Our View: The Rangers had said Padilla needed to throw a bullpen before starting, but he did that while in Nicaragua on his bereavement leave.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 6/2, 5:25 PM CT
Vicente Padilla will miss his scheduled start on Tuesday. The Rangers placed him on the bereavement list on Monday, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. A.J. Murray will start in his place. Padilla is tending to a family emergency in Nicaragua but could be back by this weekend.

Our View: Fantasy owners should bench Padilla until we know when he'll be back. We obviously wish him and his family the best.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 6/1, 1:25 PM CT
Vicente Padilla is on his way to Nicaragua to attend a family matter, the Dallas Morning News reports. His scheduled start has been pushed from Monday to Tuesday. If he can't return in time, A.J. Murray would be called up.

Our View: We hope everything is okay with Padilla and his family. We'll continue to provide updates as more details emerge.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 5/27, 12:34 PM CT
Vicente Padilla is 4-0 with a 2.09 ERA over his last six starts and will look to remain hot tonight when he battles the Rays in Tampa Bay, according to MLB.com. The Rays could cool him off though, as he is 0-2 with a 10.13 ERA in his three career starts against them, which is his highest ERA against any Major League team.

Our View: He is 6-2 overall with a 3.33 ERA and passable 1.42 WHIP, and should be in your lineups while he is hot, but just be warned that he could be a letdown tonight, going by his track record against the Rays.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 5/22, 4:10 PM CT
Vicente Padilla allowed three runs over five innings on Thursday in a no-decision against the Twins.

Our View: Padilla was far from sharp today as he allowed seven hits and two walks, though this was his sixth straight start of at least five innings with three or fewer runs allowed. No reason to not keep rolling him out there in mixed leagues with production like that.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 5/17, 10:05 PM CT
Vicente Padilla matched his victory total from last season by winning his fourth consecutive decision over five starts and his sixth of the year as the Rangers wore out the Rangers for the second consecutive game. The right-hander allowed two runs and five hits over seven innings.

Our View: Padilla struggled early but the Astros were not able to get the big hit.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 5/12, 11:47 PM CT
Vicente Padilla allowed six runs (three earned) on seven hits, walked one and struck out two in a 13-12 win over the Seattle Mariners. Padilla was gone long before the game finally came to fruition and while he wasn't very good on Monday night, he was better than his counter part, Erik Bedard.

Our View: Padilla came into Monday night's game allowing zero earned runs in two of his last three starts, one against the Mariners.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 5/8, 12:11 AM CT
Vicente Padilla was masterful on Wednesday night as he held the Mariners to two hits, two walks and no runs over seven innings. He also picked up eight K on the night to improve his record to 5-2.

Our View: Don't look now, but Padilla has allowed zero earned runs in two of his last three starts and has a 0.41 ERA over his last 21.2 IP. If he's on waivers you might as well grab him at the moment cause he certainly possesses the stuff to go on an extended run of success.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 4/27, 5:51 PM CT
Vicente Padilla, who was hit hard in his Tuesday outing against the Tigers, pitched a seven-hitter for his third career shutout in a 10-0 win over the Twins.

Our View: Padilla struck out two, walked two and didn't allow a runner past second in his first shutout for Texas and his third win of the season.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 4/22, 9:23 PM CT
The Tigers ripped Vicente Padilla on Tuesday night to the tune of eight hits and seven runs over three innings. Padilla allowed three doubles, one triple, and three homers.

Our View: On the positive side, Vicente served up only one single. Padilla had been pitching decently, but outings like this can happen when a lineup like the Tigers gets rolling.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 4/22, 12:46 PM CT
Vicente Padilla is set to take the hill against the Tigers tonight, a team that he has a good track record against, according to MLB.com. He is currently 2-1 with a 3.12 ERA, and is 3-0 with a 2.08 ERA over four career starts against the Tigers.

Our View: He will duel with Justin Verlander, who is 0-3 with a 7.03 ERA. Padilla is off to a solid start and looks to have another good outing tonight, meaning he should be penciled into your fantasy rotation.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 4/17, 8:53 PM CT

Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 4/11, 1:30 PM CT
Vicente Padilla is off to a favorable start as he holds a 1-0 record with a 2.77 ERA (over two games), and he could have another solid outing against Toronto tonight, according to MLB.com. Over his career against the Jays, Padilla is 3-1 with a 3.25 ERA over 27.2 innings. This is a good night to have him penciled into your lineups.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 4/7, 1:50 AM CT
Vicente Padilla scattered nine hits, allowed three earned runs and struck out four without walking a batter in Sunday's win over the Angels. It was Padilla's second solid outing and his first win of the year. The right-hander looked confident in his fluid motion on Sunday, and his normally volatile demeanor appeared calm and collected. Padilla has the talent to record solid peripherals across the board, but he has never been known to have command of the mental side of the mound game.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 3/26, 8:20 PM CT
Vicente Padilla struggled in a no decision on Wednesday as he surrendered five runs on 10 hits (two home runs) over six innings against San Diego, with one walk and four strikeouts. Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 3/11, 11:37 PM CT
Vicente Padilla was forced to exit Tuesday's exhibition game due to a strained gluteus maximus muscle, according to the Dallas Morning News. At this point, the Rangers believe the injury is minor, in which case it shouldn't have much of any effect on his preparation for the beginning of the regular season.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 3/11, 4:49 PM CT
Vicente Padilla left Tuesday's game in the top of the fourth inning, though Dallas Morning News writer Evan Grant believed Padilla hadn't reached his 60-pitch max. Pitching coach Mark Connor and manager Ron Washington both went to the mound, but there was no visible sign of Padilla displaying an injury. We'll have to wait to see if Padilla was hurt, though the trainer apparently didn't join the others at the mound, so he could have been pulled for another reason.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 3/6, 8:50 PM CT
Vicente Padilla worked three innings on Thursday and allowed one unearned run against the White Sox. On the day, Padilla walked two and struck out two while giving up one hit. Padilla is being counted on to throw 200 innings by the Rangers, but that might be a stretch given his propensity to find himself injured. Even if he does stay healthy, Texas is a bad place to pitch, so his upside is limited.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 9/21, 11:54 AM CT
Vicente Padilla has dropped his appeal and immediately began serving his seven-game suspension for intentionally hitting Oakland's Nick Swisher, according to the Dallas Morning News. Padilla won't make another start this season, although he could work out of the bullpen over the final weekend.

Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 7/26, 11:14 AM CT
Vicente Padilla responded well to his rehab start for Double-A Frisco on Tuesday. Padilla, recovering from a triceps injury, is scheduled for another one Saturday, when he will throw three innings or 45 pitches. Pitching coach Mark Connor said the Rangers would like to increase Padilla's rehab workload by 15 pitches an outing until he reaches 75 pitches. "We'd love to get him back here and be the real Padilla," Connor said in the Dallas Morning News. "But from arm strength and pitch count, he's not ready."

Padilla, on the disabled list with inflammation in his right elbow, threw on flat ground on Thursday without problems, and now the constantly changing plan is for him to throw off a mound on Saturday. If that goes well, he could make another rehab start on Tuesday. But that plan is tentative based on how he feels on Saturday.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 7/19, 11:21 AM CT
The Rangers are hoping Vicente Padilla will be able to make a rehab start for Double-A Frisco on Friday. If that goes well, he'd be a candidate to rejoin the Rangers' rotation sometime next week, according to the Dallas Morning News. Padilla is dealing with triceps tendinitis.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 7/18, 7:14 AM CT
Vicente Padilla (elbow) won't rejoin the rotation Sunday against Cleveland, as manager Ron Washington originally hoped, the AP reports. "If we have to take more time, that's exactly what we're going to do."
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 7/15, 8:58 AM CT

It's now uncertain if Padilla will be able to make his next rehab start, which is scheduled for Tuesday, according to the Dallas Morning News. If he can't take the mound Tuesday, it's unlikely he will be ready to rejoin the Rangers July 22, as had been hoped.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 7/14, 8:57 AM CT
Vicente Padilla began his rehab assignment on Thursday. Unfortunately, he left after just 2 2/3 innings after feeling some soreness in his right forearm area, according to the Dallas Morning News. It wasn't clear if this was a setback in his recovery from a triceps injury, but he felt much better on Friday. He'll try to toss a bullpen session Saturday and make another rehab appearance on Tuesday. If all goes well, he could return on July 22.
Vicente Padilla, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 7/6, 10:41 AM CT
