Matt Thornton, along with Octavio Dotel and Scott Linebrink, could handle some closing duties, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The paper stated that Linebrink is option 1A, Thornton 1B and Dotel 1C.

Our View: Thornton does have one save on the year, and has a fantastic WHIP of 0.85. Along with Dotel, he could provide fantasy owners with a few saves while Jenks recovers.

Matt Thornton, the third of five White Sox's relievers, pitched 1.2 perfect innings, striking out four of the five batters he faced to win his fourth game of the season.

Our View: Thorton has been one of a handful of bullpen arms to pitch the White Sox into first place in the AL Central. The left-hander has made 33 appearances this year throwing 31 innings, walking nine and striking out 40.

Matt Thornton worked a scoreless inning on Tuesday, his first outing of the spring. He has been dealing with elbow soreness. "I felt fine all spring, it was just I was behind," Thornton tells the Chicago Tribune. "Now, I'm getting ready for the season. I'll be able to get another couple of one-inning outings and then get a two-inning outing and the back-to-backs."

Matt Thornton could see work in the ninth inning if game situations dictate it, the Chicago Tribune reports. "Don't be surprised if I start the ninth with Thornton," Ozzie Guillen said. "Bobby (Jenks) is still my closer, but I feel comfortable and have enough confidence in Thornton to start that inning." Thornton pitched the ninth Friday for the save after Jenks pitched the eighth and finally got his fastball out of the 80s.
