Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 6/30, 6:03 PM CT
Luis Vizcaino has been released by the Indians, according to MLBblogs.com. He was designated for assignment last week.

Our View: The 34-year-old hurler held a 4.11 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over 15.1 innings of relief this season, and there is belief that the Rangers may give him a look to help their thinned out bullpen. As a fantasy hurler, he holds little value.

The Cleveland Indians' Twitter page announced today that the team has designated Luis Vizcaino for assignment, Vizcaino threw 15.1 innings with the team and compiled a 4.11 ERA during that time.

Our View: The Indians brought Vizcaino in to be a veteran presence in their struggling bullpen, but it looks like it just didn't work out. Vizcaino will have no fantasy value regardless of what happens at this point, so no need to concern yourselves with his status.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansThursday 5/14, 9:39 AM CT
Luis Vizcaino has inked a deal with the Indians, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. He was added to the 25-man roster, and the club optioned Jeremy Sowers to Triple-A Columbus.

Our View: The 34-year-old vet was brought in to help the Indians' struggling bullpen. He is not expected to hold any fantasy value as a middle reliever.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 5/10, 1:32 PM CT
Updating a previous report, Luis Vizcaino will join the Indians' bullpen this week, according to MLB.com. He was expected to start in Triple-A, but those plans have changed. He will likely replace either Masa Kobayashi or Tony Sipp.

Our View: Vizcaino was acquired by the Indians to help with their bullpen struggles, and it looks like the team is more desperate than we originally thought. He has no fantasy value at this point, but could be an option for holds if he sticks with Cleveland.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansThursday 5/7, 11:19 AM CT
The Indians have acquired Luis Vizcaino from the Cubs, according to Gaylord Sports. The Cubs designated him for assignment on April 23.

Our View: Vizcaino is owed $4MM, and the Cubs will likely assume $3.6MM of his salary. He will provide depth in the Indians' bullpen, but will only hold value in deeper fantasy leagues that feature middle men.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansMonday 4/27, 1:04 PM CT
The Marlins have indicated that they will not pursue Luis Vizcaino, according to the Sun-Sentinel. Vizcaino was designated for assignment by the Cubs last week.

Our View: Vizcaino is making $4MM, and his velocity has declined. The Marlins could use depth in their bullpen, but the 34-year-old Vizcaino is not viewed as an option.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansThursday 4/23, 10:11 AM CT
Updating an earlier report, Luis Vizcaino has been designated for assignment by the Cubs, according to ESPN.

Our View: The Cubs tried to trade him before his release, to teams such as the Nationals. If Vizcaino signs with another club at the minimum salary, that will be $3.6MM lost for Chicago. Jeff Samardzija took his spot in the Cubs' bullpen.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansThursday 4/23, 9:25 AM CT
The Cubs may release Luis Vizcaino, according to the Chicago Tribune. The club promoted Jeff Samardzija from Triple-A.

Our View: The 34-year-old should find work with another club if released, as he only allowed two hits over 3.2 innings of relief with Chicago this season, with three strikeouts and no walks. Samardzija would take his spot in the Cubs' bullpen.

Luis Vizcaino has been officially traded from the Rockies to the Cubs in exchange for starter Jason Marquis, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The 34-year old reliever has previously served with Oakland, Milwaukee, Arizona, and the Yankees. He will provide depth as a long-reliever with Kevin Gregg and Carlos Marmol handling the late innings.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 12/30, 5:39 PM CT
Luis Vizcaino could be headed to the Cubs in exchange for starting pitcher Jason Marquis, according to ESPN.

Our View: Vizcaino could be a strong addition to the Cubs' bullpen if he could cut down on the homers and walks, but he likely won't have any fantasy value as Kevin Gregg and Carlos Marmol will likely be the Cubs' late-inning guys.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansMonday 12/8, 7:13 PM CT
The Colorado Rockies are trying to trade reliever Luis Vizcaino, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Vizcaino did not throw well for the team, posting a 5.28 ERA with a 1.46 ERA. He was also arrested for DUI in late October, so the market may not be large for him.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansMonday 10/27, 11:11 AM CT
Luis Vizcaino was arrested in Tampa early Monday morning and charged with a DUI, according to the AP.

Our View: Officers said he was going 71 mph in a 45 mph zone, and his eyes looked glassy and bloodshot and he smelled of alcohol, with his blood alcohol level just over the legal limit. He is being held on a $500 bond.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansSaturday 6/7, 5:42 PM CT
Luis Vizcaino was activated on Sunday from the DL prior to the Rockies and Brewers game, according to the Associated Press. Glendon Rusch was sent to Triple-A.

Our View: Vizciano appeared in only two games before being sent to the DL with a strained right shoulder and will move back into a setup role in the Rockies pen, though he will likely be nothing more than the fourth option for saves, so he is only worthy of a look in NL Only leagues.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansSaturday 6/7, 8:42 AM CT
Reliever Luis Vizcaino is scheduled to pitch one inning for Triple-A Colorado Springs tonight, according to the Colorado Springs Gazette. He is recovering from a right shoulder strain.

Our View: Following the inning, his rehab assignment will be complete. He could then rejoin Colorado, but his fantasy value will remain limited while fighting for playing time out of the Rockies' bullpen.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 5/27, 8:59 AM CT
Luis Vizcaino threw 12 pitches in a simulated game in Tucson on Monday, according to the Denver Post. He has moved one step closer to rejoining the Rockies, and pitching coach Bob Apodaca said, "I'd like to see him get up to 25 pitches, but now it's a matter of getting him ready to pitch at a major-league level. His health is fine, his velocity is fine. But now he's got to regain his touch and timing. We'll see how long that takes."

Our View: Vizcaino's fantasy value will be limited while fighting for playing time out of the Rockies' pen, and he allowed four runs on five hits over 1.1 brief innings of work this season.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 5/21, 4:47 PM CT
Luis Vizcaino took another positive step Tuesday in recovering from his strained right shoulder, throwing 17 pitches in an extended spring training game. "He came out great," Rockies head athletic trainer Keith Dugger told MLB.com. "He feels good. His velocity was up. I don't know the line, but he was fine."

Our View: Vizcaino will throw a side session before at least one more extended spring game. He would then likely make a few minor league rehab appearances.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 4/22, 8:28 PM CT
The Rockies report today's MRI on the sore shoulder of LHP Luis Vizcaino has revealed inflammation but no extensive damage, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Vizcaino has not pitched since April 2nd and was placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 5th after he failed to complete his warm-up session before facing the Atlanta Braves. He was in the midst of a bullpen session on Saturday when the soreness returned. Rockies head athletic trainer Keith Dugger said the MRI confirmed no major damage or injury was present, but the team is going to be cautious and avoid any throwing programs for Vizcaino until the inflammation is gone.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 4/20, 2:11 PM CT
Luis Vizcaino's throwing session has been cancelled on Saturday due to soreness, according to MLB.com. He has been on the DL since April 4 due to a shoulder strain. The session, in which he would have faced live hitters, was one of the final steps that Vizcaino needed to take before going on a Minor League injury rehab assignment. But Vizcaino stated that he "felt sore a little bit" after a bullpen session on Wednesday. Pitching coach Bob Apodaca added, "We held him off, so until we get back to Denver and get a better handle on it, it's out of my hands. We're going to be conservative with it, making sure this isn't something that's going to be longer than it needs to be. We'll be on the safe side and let our doctors look at it."

Our View: Hopefully he can get back on schedule soon. He was going to hold a role as a right-handed setup man before getting hurt.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 4/9, 9:20 AM CT
Luis Vizcaino, who is on the DL with shoulder tightness, is not even playing catch, according to the Rocky Mountain News. He was slowed in spring training by elbow stiffness, and Manager Hurdle stated, "We aren't sure if the elbow contributed to the shoulder or is the shoulder another issue?" There remains no timetable for his return.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 4/6, 1:07 PM CT
Luis Vizcaino has been placed on the 15-day DL due to a right shoulder strain, retroactive to April 4, according to the Sports Network. The 33-year old reliever has surrendered four earned runs over a mere 1.1 innings of work this season.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 3/9, 8:27 AM CT
The Rockies will play it safely with Luis Vizcaino and hold him out of game action again Sunday, according to the Denver Post. It'll be the third straight game he'll skip due to a sore elbow, but he believes he'd be available if it were a regular-season contest.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansSaturday 3/8, 8:45 AM CT
Luis Vizcaino skipped Friday's game due to a sore elbow, according to the Denver Post. He's expected to return to game action on Saturday, so at this point, it appears that the setup man should be fine.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansWednesday 12/19, 10:13 AM CT
The Rockies and Luis Vizcaino have agreed to a two-year, $7.5 million deal. Vizcaino held a 4.30 ERA in 77 games with the Yankees last year.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansTuesday 8/7, 9:45 AM CT
Although he allowed a run in two innings yesterday, Luis Vizcaino has been outstanding for the Yankees since June 1, picking up six wins while holding a 1.36 ERA and 1.06 WHIP with 32 Ks in 33 innings. Newsday reports that Vizcaino has firmly wrested the role of setup man from Kyle Farnsworth. "I feel super well, and content, because I am pitching well and the team is winning," said Vizcaino.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansSunday 7/22, 7:30 AM CT
Luis Vizcaino picked up wins in both games of Saturday's doubleheader, giving him eight relief victories on the year. Vizcaino has allowed just three earned runs over his last 25 appearances (along with 23 strikeouts), though the heavy workload he's getting from Joe Torre is cause for concern.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansThursday 7/19, 11:58 AM CT
Kyle Farnsworth may not be the setup man in the Bronx much longer. The New York Times reports that job may soon belong to Luis Vizcaino. “I think we’re going to have to sit and think about it,” manager Joe Torre told the paper. Neither Farnsworth nor Vizcaíno has any fantasy value, but it would help Mariano Rivera’s stock if one of them becomes a strong setup man.

Luis Vizcaino, who was unavailable for the series in Philadelphia after developing soreness behind his right elbow, threw a bullpen session on Friday, according to the Arizona Republic. He'll be available to pitch against the Astros this weekend.
Luis Vizcaino, P, Cleveland IndiansFriday 7/28, 11:40 AM CT
Luis Vizcaino felt some pain in his elbow while playing catch on Tuesday and hasn't been available to pitch since, according to the Diamondbacks website. However, he is improving. "I feel better today," said Vizcaino on Thursday. "I think in two more days, I'll pitch."
