Scott Schoeneweis, P, Arizona DiamondbacksMonday 9/7, 12:16 PM CT
Scott Schoeneweis has been activated off the DL by the Diamondbacks' according to the team's Twitter page. Schoeneweis was on the DL while dealing with the death of his wife.

Our View: We wish nothing but the best for Schoeneweis as he tries to cope with his tragic loss. He struggled the first time he came back after the death, and we just hope he can get back on track this time around.

Scott Schoeneweis has been placed on the 15-day disabled list while he deals with personal matters, according to MLB.com's Noah Coslov.

Our View: What a sad, sad story. Schoeneweis tragically lost his wife earlier this season, and hasn't been the same pitcher since, seeing his ERA jump from 2.53 to its current 8.24. Hopefully he will be able to get his mind right and come back better than ever for spring training next season.

According to KTAR.com out of Arizona, Diamondbacks' pitcher Scott Schoeneweis will take a leave of absence from the team. Schoeneweis has struggled since coming off the bereavement list in June after losing his wife.

Our View: Schoeneweis saw his ERA jump from under four to 8.24 over the last month, and it might do him some good to get away from the game to deal with the loss of his wife. The team will recall Daniel Schlereth to replace Schoeneweis on the roster.

The Diamondbacks activated reliever Scott Schoeneweis from the bereavement list on Tuesday night. His wife, Gabrielle, died suddenly on May 20, and he has been away since that time. "I'm running out of things to do," Schoeneweis tells the Arizona Daily Star. "I think my wife would have wanted me to play."

Our View: The lefty specialist will surely work his way back into the mix, and he admits that the game is a welcome distraction for him at this point. We feel awful for guy and hope he has success when he gets on the mound again.

According to the Arizona Republic, there is still no timetable for the return of pitcher Scott Schoeneweis after the untimely death of his wife.

Our View: He has been on the restricted list since Mat 20th and manager A.J. Hinch has apparently not asked him about a return date out of respect for a very sensitive subject.

The East Valley Tribune is reporting that the wife of Diamondbacks' pitcher Scott Schoeneweis was found dead in the couple's home on Wednesday. Gabrielle Dawn Schoeneweis was 39 years old. No word yet on cause of death.

While reports from earlier in the week indicate Mets LHP Scott Schoeneweis is doing well following what doctors believe may have been a bout with inflammation in his appendix, the hurler failed to make an appearance for New York as expected on Saturday, according to CBSSports.com.

Our View: The team is expected to keep Schoeneweis listed as day-to-day on the disabled reports, but he could be activated at any time. If/when such news comes, we will update.

Updating an earlier report, Scott Schoeneweis is fine after receiving a medical scare, this according to MLB.com. "I woke up at like seven o'clock and I thought I was going to die," Schoeneweis said.

Our View: Turns out the doctors think that scar tissue from his bout with testicular cancer caused an inflammation to his appendix, but the decision was made that he doesn't need any further medical work which is great news.

Scott Schoeneweis experienced severe abdominal pain at his home in Connecticut on Tuesday, which led to him being hospitalized for six hours, according to the NY Daily News. The doctors at one point feared he was suffering from appendicitis. Schoeneweis, who said his arms turned blue for a while, guessed the illness is probably a bug going around the team. Schoeneweis' stomach was still noticeably bloated after last night's game. He had experienced waves of freezing and shaking the previous night. He said, "I've been through a lot of stuff. For me to call an ambulance, I had to be in dire straits."

Our View: He has been pitching well this season, as he held a 1.50 ERA and 1.00 WHIP over 12 innings, with seven strikeouts. We will keep you posted on his status.
