Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 11/1, 1:04 AM CT
Jayson Werth crushed two more home runs on Saturday night, but couldn't will the Phillies to victory, as the Yankees won game three of the World Series 8-5 in Philadelphia.

Our View: Werth is absolutely pounding the ball, but he'll need his teammates, namely Ryan Howard, to get going offensively, as well, if the Phils are going to have any chance at beating the Yanks.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 10/21, 10:56 PM CT
Jayson Werth powered the Phillies to a series-clinching win over the Dodgers on Wednesday as Philly beat the Dodgers 10-4 to win the NL pennant. Werth went 3-for-4 with two home runs, three runs scored, and four RBI in the win.

Our View: The Phils are heading back to the World Series, and their offense is the main reason. Werth was a monster tonight, and the team will need everyone to stay hot if they are going to repeat as champs.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 10/4, 5:49 PM CT
Jayson Werth went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a pair of stolen bases in the Phillies 7-6 win over the Marlins on Sunday.

Our View: Werth stole four bases in the last two games of the season to get to 20, and now has back to back seasons with at least 20 homers and 20 steals. This season he clubbed 36 homers as opposed to just 24 last year.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 10/3, 7:03 PM CT
Jayson Werth stood out for the Phillies on Saturday offensively, but his 2-for-4 afternoon, two-run homer and two stolen bases weren't enough to propel the team to a win as Philadephia fell to the Marins 4-3.

Our View: Werth now needs just one RBI for his first season with 100 and just two stolen bases to join the 20-20 club for his second straight campaign.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 9/29, 9:31 PM CT
Jayson Werth went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Astros.

Our View: Werth now has 35 jacks this season, ten more than his previous career high that he set last season. While his power is up this year (he needs just four more RBI for 100), he hasn't stolen as much. He has 15 in 2009, but has just two since July 25th.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 9/16, 9:08 PM CT
Jayson Werth hit a grand slam in the seventh inning on Wednesday, propelling the Phillies past the hapless Nationals 6-1 at home.

Our View: Werth now boasts an impressive triple crown line of .272/34/88, with 13 stolen bases to boot. Were he to drive in 12 more runs, it would be the first 100-RBI season of his career.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 9/15, 9:23 PM CT
Jayson Werth went 3-for-4 with three singles in Tuesday's 5-0 blanking of the Nationals.

Our View: Werth is a very streaky hitter and was only batting .222 before Tuesday's three-hit performance, so expect him to start picking it up offensively. His home runs also tend to come in bunches, so once he goes yard be sure to get him in if you're using him in a platoon situation.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 9/13, 10:00 AM CT
Jayson Werth is getting the first game of the Phillies' doubleheader off on Sunday, according to the Twitter page of beat writer Todd Zolecki. Werth is being replaced by Ben Francisco in right field.

Our View: Werth has continued his huge season over the last week, but the team is giving him a much-deserved day off. Expect him to be back in there for the second game, but he won't play this afternoon.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 9/9, 9:39 PM CT
Jayson Werth was 2-for-4 with his 33rd home run on Tuesday night, as Philadelphia edged the Nats 6-5 in Washington.

Our View: Werth has now eclipsed his previous career high in homers by nine, and RBI by 17.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 9/3, 8:44 PM CT
Jayson Werth bombed a home run into the second deck off Giants' starter Tim Lincecum on Thursday to help this Phillies to a 2-1 win. Werth was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI in the game.

Our View: There wasn't much offense in this pitchers' duel, but Werth's home run was huge. He has 30 on the season, and he came out of nowhere to have a huge fantasy season.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 8/25, 3:03 PM CT
Jayson Werth will be getting the night off on Tuesday, with Matt Stairs starting in his place, according to David Murphy of the Philadelphia Daily News.

Our View: A tad strange considering he has five home runs in his past seven games, but expect many of Philadelphia's regulars to receive extra rest down the stretch with the team cruising toward its third straight NL-East title.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 8/23, 3:27 PM CT
Jayson Werth capped off his sizzling week by hitting a three run home run on Sunday, helping the Phillies outlast the Mets 9-7 at Citi Field.

Our View: Werth went deep five times this week, driving in nine runs. When he gets hot he can go a run that makes you think he is one of the better players in the game.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 8/20, 9:00 PM CT
Jayson Werth hit his fourth home run in three games on Thursday, helping the Phillies ease by Arizona 12-3 at home.

Our View: Werth is on one of his patented hot streaks, and should be started over any other player in your lineup until he cools off again.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 8/19, 9:02 PM CT
Jayson Werth had a monster day at the plate on Wednesday as the Phillies beat the D-Backs 9-1. Werth went 3-for-4 with two home runs, two runs scored, and two RBI in the win.

Our View: Werth had been struggling in the month of August, but he has been very good over the last two nights. He can be a bit streaky, but if you are a Werth owner, you can expect him to keep producing over the next month and a half.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 8/18, 10:10 PM CT
Jayson Werth double, homered and drove in two in the Phillies' 5-1 win over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Our View: It's nice to see Werth get back on track. Coming into Tuesday's game, the All Star was hitting just .208 with two homers in August.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 8/15, 6:52 PM CT
Jayson Werth went 1-for-3 with a solo homer off Kenshin Kawakami in Saturday's 4-3 loss at Atlanta.

Our View: Werth blasted his 24th homer, tying his career season-high set in 2008. He should remain a solid source for power, namely while playing his home games at launching pad Citizens Bank Park.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 8/11, 3:49 PM CT
Jayson Werth is not in the Phillies' starting lineup on Tuesday. He is being replaced in the outfield by Ben Francisco.

Our View: Werth is having a magical season, but even All-Stars need a night off every once in a while. If you can get him out tonight, do so, and if not, he should be right back in the outfield tomorrow for the Phils.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 8/5, 8:47 PM CT
Jayson Werth's three run homer in the fifth inning on Wednesday night was more than enough cushion for the dominating J.A. Happ, as the lefty shutout the Rockies 7-0.

Our View: Werth's breakout season keeps rolling on, and he's even become less streaky. A top-flight option in the outfield, indeed.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 8/1, 11:25 PM CT
Jayson Werth went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles in tonight's 2-0 loss at San Francisco.

Our View: The Phillies only mustered seven hits in the game. Werth has a four-game hitting streak, with two hits in each of his last two.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 8/1, 12:03 AM CT
Jayson Werth went 2-for-5 with three RBI in tonight's 5-1 win at San Francisco. He hit a single and a solo homer off Ryan Sadowski.

Our View: Werth hit seven homers in July, and has 22 for the season. He is two home runs away from tying his career-best mark of 24 set in 2008.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 7/22, 4:18 PM CT
Barely more than 12 hours after hitting a walk-off home run on Tuesday night, Jayson Werth went 2-for-4 on Wednesday, but saw the Phillies lose for the first time in ten games, as the Cubs won 10-5 in Philly.

Our View: Famously streaky, Werth has been hitting more consistently lately, and could put up really big numbers the last two and a half months of the season.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 7/21, 9:55 PM CT
Jayson Werth was the hero on Tuesday, cranking a three home home run in the 13th inning to end a 1-1 stalemate between the Cubs and Phillies in Philadelphia.

Our View: Werth is having a huge season, with his 21 home runs and 61 RBI placing him amongst the league leaders in both categories. He is a very streaky hitter, but one of the best in the league when he gets hot.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 7/10, 1:39 PM CT
After homering for the fourth straight game on Thursday, Jayson Werth was selected to participate in his first All-Star game on Friday.

Our View: Werth will be replacing the injured Carlos Beltran. After his four game homer streak, he now has 20 on the season, as well as 11 stolen bases. He is an absolute must start in every format until his current hot streak ends.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 7/8, 9:40 PM CT
Jayson Werth homered for the third straight game in the Phillies 3-2 win over the Reds on Wednesday.

Our View: There is simply no excuse to not have Werth in your starting lineup every day in the midst of his hot streak.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 7/7, 9:21 PM CT
Jayson Werth homered for the second straight game on Tuesday, and also stole a base, but it wasn't enough as the Reds edged the Phillies 4-3 in Philadelphia.

Our View: Werth is in the midst of one of his patented hot streaks, and is a must start until he cools off again.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 7/6, 9:48 PM CT
Jayson Werth joined the hit parade in Philadelphia on Monday, going 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs and five RBI.

Our View: While the .263 batting average isn't stellar, Werth is great across the board in every other category and should continue to fill the box score for his owners.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 6/27, 2:59 PM CT
Jayson Werth went off on Saturday. The Phillies outfielder was 4-for-4 and blasted two homers in a 10-0 rout of the Blue Jays.

Our View: Werth scored three runs and drove in three, and the lanky slugger now has seven homers this month. He also became the 14th player in history to crush a ball to the 500 level in Toronto. It came on his first inning two-run shot.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 6/26, 10:44 PM CT
Jayson Werth went 1-for-3 with a double, and recorded the Phillies' only RBI in tonight's 6-1 loss at Toronto.

Our View: Werth has 40 RBI for the season, with 14 coming so far this month. He should remain a productive fantasy outfielder with the defending champs.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 6/24, 10:28 PM CT
Jayson Werth went 2-for-4 with a solo homer, and recorded the Phillies' lone RBI in Wednesday's 7-1 loss at Tampa Bay.

Our View: Werth blasted his 13th homer of the season, with five coming in June. He should remain a nice source for power in fantasy leagues.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 6/19, 9:29 PM CT
Jayson Werth was productive in Friday's 7-2 loss to the Orioles at Citizens Bank Park, as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI. He hit a single and a double.

Our View: The Phillies only mustered six hits in the game, and Werth was their only source of scoring. Werth extended his hitting streak to six games, and generated 10 RBI over the span.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 6/18, 4:26 PM CT
Jayson Werth stayed hot on Thursday, hitting his fourth home run in five games, but it wasn't enough as the Phillies fell 8-7 to the Blue Jays.

Our View: Werth is a notoriously streaky hitter, and is on a tremendous hot streak right now. Consider him a must start until he shows signs of cooling off.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 6/16, 10:50 PM CT
Jayson Werth hit his second home run in three games on Tuesday night as the Phillies fell 8-3 to Toronto in ten innings.

Our View: Werth is an admitted streak hitter, and it looks as if he could be starting another hot streak. Pencil him into your starting lineup until he proves you wrong.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 5/16, 3:16 PM CT
Jayson Werth was 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBI in the Phillies' 8-5 win over the Nationals on Saturday.

Our View: Werth has been heating up as of late after a slow start, and is looking like the solid, all-around fantasy option we thought he would pan out to be this season. He's hitting .289 with seven homers, 23 RBI and eight steals to this point and is a solid outfield option in mixed leagues.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 5/12, 10:22 PM CT
Jayson Werth was 2-for-4 and stole four bases on Tuesday, including a straight steal of home in the Phillies 5-3 win over the Dodgers.

Our View: We saw Ellsbury do it not too long ago and now Werth. There have been some monster stolen base games this season and you can add Tuesday's effort by the Phillies' outfielder to the list. Werth can do it all for your fantasy team, but is notoriously streaky. Right now he's hot, so ride him until he cools.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 5/8, 9:07 PM CT
Jayson Werth is heating up. He went 1-for-2 with a walk, three runs scored and a two-run homer in the Phillies' 10-6 win over the Braves.

Our View: Werth started slow this season, but is on a tear now. His homer tonight was his sixth and he's driven in 21 on the year. His average is also creeping towards .300 and he has four homers in his last five games with 10 RBI over that stretch.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 5/7, 10:18 PM CT
Jayson Werth was huge for the Phillies on Thursday, going 4-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs, and two RBI. The Phillies lost the game to the Mets 7-5.

Our View: Werth has answered the call this season, as he has five home runs and is hitting .284. His fantasy value is high right now since he has been hot as of late, but only time will tell if he can do this consistently.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 5/5, 11:24 PM CT
Jayson Werth hit a three-run homer off of Adam Wainwright to break open a close game, and the Phillies never looked back. They went on to win 10-7 over the Cardinals on Tuesday, as Werth drove in four when it was all said and done.

Our View: Werth is hitting a modest .264 on the season, but has ripped four homers and drove in 17 so far. He has a lot of pop in his bat and some nice wheels to go along with his offense, but fantasy owners would like to see more consistency from the lanky outfielder.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 4/21, 10:56 PM CT
Jayson Werth was 2-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored, and two RBI in Philadelphia's 11-4 win over the Brewers on Tuesday.

Our View: Werth is hitting in a favorable spot between Ryan Howard and Raul Ibanez. He has done a solid job in the heart of their lineup and as long as he remains healthy he should be a good option in the outfield in most formats.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 4/10, 5:58 PM CT
Jayson Werth struggled in his first three games of 2009, but broke out in a big way on Friday. He was the lone bright spot for the Phillies in their 10-3 loss to the Rockies, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and hit his first homer of the season.

Our View: This was a big day for Werth owners. His hot spring didn't exactly carry over into regulation play, but he appears to have arrived in 2009. Last year's 20-20 man will be a key component in the Phillies offense this season.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 4/1, 5:38 PM CT
Jayson Werth was 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run on Wednesday. He's now hitting .323 in his impressive spring campaign.

Our View: Werth is showing off his power this spring. He now has six homers and 14 RBI and looks like he could improve on his 24 bombs last year. Assuming he gets a full season of at-bats he could hit 30 homers and steal 20+ bases. That's a rarity these days.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 3/27, 4:16 PM CT
Jayson Werth was 2-for-3 with a double and a home run Friday. The homer was his fifth of the spring and he's now hitting .320.

Our View: Werth seems to be picking up where he left off last year. Just think what the 20-20 man can do with a full season of at-bats. Expect him to eclipse the 418 he had last year with the departure of Pat Burrell.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 3/24, 4:18 PM CT
Outfielder Jayson Werth went 2-for-3 with a solo homer in Tuesday's win over the Blue Jays. He is hitting .318 with four long balls and 10 RBI this spring.

Our View: Fantasy owners are counting on Werth to repeat (or possibly even better) his breakout 2008 season, and he has looked very sharp this spring. He is poised to set a bunch of career-highs in 2009, provided he stays healthy.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 3/18, 4:38 PM CT
Jayson Werth continued his hot spring with a 2-for-4 performance on Wednesday against Toronto. He hit his third home run, doubled, scored three and drove in three.

Our View: Werth could be a sleeper this season. He hits for power, steals bases and can slide right into a loaded Phillies lineup. You can get him later in your draft, but beware of inconsistent playing time and injuries. He only had 418 at-bats last season.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 3/15, 6:35 PM CT
Jayson Werth hit his second home run in as many days as the Phillies beat the Cardinals 2-1 on Sunday. He also picked up his second double in the spring.

Our View: Werth is drawing some lofty draft spots this spring, but the facts that he has been generally unhealthy in his career and unable to consistently hit righties remain. He could hit in a favorable spot in a loaded Phillies lineup, but 500 at-bats seems optimistic.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 3/14, 4:40 PM CT
Jayson Werth hit his first home run of the spring on Saturday as the Phillies beat the Astros 5-2.

Our View: Werth had been dealing with a sore groin, but that injury appears to have been minor. Regardless, Werth has little value when facing righties, and substantial value against lefties. His plus-defense should land him an everyday job, but the threat of splitting time with Matt Stairs or Geoff Jenkins still exists.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 3/12, 12:54 PM CT
According to Philly.com, Jayson Werth was a late scratch Thursday due to a sore groin. The problem is thought to be minor and Werth is expected to start tomorrow.

Our View: This doesn't sound like a big deal, but Werth is just getting over a shoulder strain as well. Hope he doesn't turn into an injury monkey, because he's a nice power/speed option for fantasy owners.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 3/8, 12:37 PM CT
Jayson Werth feels that he is recovered from his mild shoulder strain he sustained nine days ago, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View: Werth is slated to start in left field and would be a nice source for power and speed if he can stay healthy. He racked up 24 homers and 20 stolen bases over 134 games in 2008.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 2/28, 1:06 PM CT
Jayson Werth has been scratched from today's lineup while nursing a sore shoulder, according to MLB.com. He sustained the ailment while taking batting practice Friday.

Our View: He could return to the field as early as Monday. Werth is slated to start in left field and would be a nice source for power and speed if he can stay healthy. He collected 24 homers and 20 stolen bases over 134 games in 2008.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 1/21, 11:02 AM CT
The Philadelphia Phillies signed outfielder Jayson Werth to a two-year deal worth approximately $10 million, according to Scout.com.

Our View: Werth was valuable to both the Phillies and fantasy owners last season. He hit 24 home runs and stole 20 bases, making him one of only nine players in the big leagues to be a 20-20 man.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 12/4, 8:57 AM CT
Phillies' GM Ruben Amaro Jr. has talked to Jayson Werth regarding an extension, according to BaseballProspectus.com.

Our View: This makes sense for the Phillies to extend Werth, as he could become more valuable to the club with Pat Burrell likely departing as a free agent. Werth was a solid clutch hitter for the champs in 2008, and blasted 24 homers and stole 20 bases.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 10/26, 10:48 PM CT
Jayson Werth was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in the Phillies' 10-2 win over the Rays in Game 4.

Our View: Werth is on an eight-game hitting streak in the playoffs, but this was the first of those games in which he had registered an RBI.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 9/27, 6:09 PM CT
Jayson Werth hit his 24th home run of the year on Saturday to help the Phillies beat the Nationals 4-3.

Our View: Werth has had a good year for the NL East champs, hitting 24 home runs and even stealing 19 bases. Owners who picked up Werth have been pleasantly surprised with his production.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 9/16, 10:02 PM CT
Jayson Werth extended his hitting streak to 10 games Tuesday with a 3-for-4 effort, which included his 23rd homer of the season.

Our View: It can't be understated how good of a year Werth has had, as he has 17 steals to go along with his 23 bombs. He's hit third in the lineup in two of the last three games.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 8/31, 4:37 PM CT
Jayson Werth went 2-for-4 with a double, homer, and three RBI in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Cubs. The outfielder wrapped up August with a line of .313-6-15-16 over 29 games.

Our View: Werth is having a career year at the plate, which is due in large part to him staying generally healthy for the first time. He has the tools to be a decent fantasy player if he could ever log 150 games. We're not sure that will ever happen, though.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 7/11, 10:37 PM CT
Jayson Werth's 12th inning single beat the Diamondbacks on Friday night.

Our View: If all Werth did was hit in the clutch, he would be a phenomenal fantasy commodity. Regardless, he is still a factor in deep leagues, but does not see enough regular duty to be a must own.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 7/6, 11:11 PM CT
Jayson Werth played all three outfield positions on Sunday but his biggest contribution was a bottom of the ninth two-run home run off Mets closer Billy Wagner to send the game into extra innings.

Our View: It was Werth's 12th home run of the year. He doesn't play every day but he contributes enough to warrant consideration. If a Philadelphia outfielder goes down, Werth's value increases considerably.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 6/27, 11:47 PM CT
Jayson Werth went 2-for-5 with a solo homer in Friday's 8-7 loss to the Rangers.

Our View: He has 11 homers, but that was only his second in June. Four of his 30 RBI have come in the month as well, and he only holds value in NL-only leagues, especially since he usually just plays against left-handed pitchers.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 6/12, 7:48 PM CT
Jayson Werth will serve as the Phillies backup catcher the next day or two as normal backup catcher Chris Coste will be away with his wife who just gave birth to their second child, according to MLB.com. "Physically, catching, the physical stuff, I don't think will be a problem," he said. "If anything it will be the game-calling and knowing the hitters."

Our View: Werth was originally drafted as a catcher, so he should be perfectly capable of handling the role if need be. Keep a close on on this situation if your league only requires one outing to qualify at a position.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 6/7, 5:52 PM CT
Jayson Werth was activated from the DL on Saturday, according to EPSN. Werth had been dealing with a strained right oblique muscle. Chris Snelling was sent to Triple-A Lehigh Valley to make room for Werth.

Our View: Werth is in the lineup and starting in right field tonight, but it will be interesting to see how the Phillies choose to work Werth and the suddenly hot Geoff Jenkins into the lineup.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 6/4, 12:05 PM CT
Jayson Werth stated that if he is not ready to come off the DL when eligible on Saturday, then he will likely wait until Tuesday to return, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. Manager Charlie Manuel said Tuesday that Werth likely would play a couple of games in the minors before rejoining the team.

Our View: It depends on how well his final stages of his recovery from a right oblique strain play out. The Phillies would like to get him back for Saturday, as they are scheduled to face Braves' lefty hurler Jo-Jo Reyes.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 5/31, 7:43 PM CT
Jayson Werth thinks he may be able to return from the DL on June 8, which would be the first day he is eligible, according to MLB.com. He is recovering from a right oblique strain, and has resumed swinging a bat, but has been instructed to slow his swing down to prevent further injury.

Our View: The team noted that he will probably play in a rehab assignment within the next few days, and added that he will be ready to go right away when he comes off the DL. He was enjoying a solid season, as he generated nine homers and 26 RBI over 40 games, with seven stolen bases.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 5/24, 11:17 AM CT
Jayson Werth was placed on the DL with a strained right oblique, according to MLB.com. To take his roster spot, the team has recalled outfielder T.J. Bohn.

Our View: The Phillies will likely go with an outfield of Pat Burrell, Shane Victorino and Geoff Jenkins with So Taguchi the first bat off the bench rendering Bohn as nothing more than a spare part for now.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 5/23, 8:10 PM CT
Jayson Werth was out of the lineup on Friday, a day after exiting a game with a strained right oblique, according to MLB.com. "He could pinch-run, but I'm going to try and stay away from that," manager Charlie Manuel said. "He can run, but he can't swing the bat or throw." Werth could be placed on the DL, but the Phillies will wait before making any such decision. "There's a possibility of that," Manuel said. "We'll know more about it [Saturday]."

Our View: Werth has been a fantasy surprise this year with nine homers, 26 RBI and seven steals. But with Shane Victorino rounding back into form, the Phils have the depth to withstand the blow if Werth were to need a DL stint.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 5/23, 8:25 AM CT
The Phillies say Jayson Werth is day-to-day after straining his right oblique on Thursday night, the Philadelphia Inquirer notes.

Our View: Werth is having a solid year at the dish and hopefully this ailment won't slow him down.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 5/22, 10:58 PM CT
Jayson Werth was forced from the Phillies game on Thursday night in the eighth inning by what is being called a right oblique strain.

Our View: That's all the info we have right now. Oblique injuries can be minor and last a couple of days, or they can often times require a trip to the DL resulting in up to a month's worth of missed action. If Werth needs to head to the DL that means that Shane Victorino will be in the lineup every day regardless of the matchup.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 5/16, 8:44 PM CT
Jayson Werth entered the Phillies' record book on Friday as he tied a franchise mark with eight RBI in a 10-3 win over Toronto, according to the AP. He hit three home runs in the game, one of which was good for a grand slam.

Our View: The most recent member of the Phillies to do it was Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt, who accomplished the feat on April 17, 1976. Werth now has nine homers and 26 RBI over 34 games, and should continue to see plenty of action with the Phillies.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 5/13, 8:58 PM CT
Jayson Werth had three hits on Tuesday night leading to four RBI for the Phillies.

Our View: Werth continues to see ample playing time despite the return of Shane Victorino though he will likely need to do better than his current .250 average in 28 May AB to keep that factor tilted in his direction.
Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 4/28, 11:58 AM CT
Shane Victorino could be activated from the DL tomorrow but the team may keep the hot hitting Jayson Werth in the lineup, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. Victorino would naturally replace Werth in center field when he comes back, but the team may move Werth into right field in place of Geoff Jenkins. The team also may leave Werth in center and move Victorino to right. Manager Charlie Manuel stated, "I think right now Werth has shown he can play centerfield. Of course, Victorino at the start of our season, he was our center fielder. When you are hurt, you usually don't lose your job, unless somebody knocks the stuffing out of the ball. If somebody outplays you. I always thought if I was better than somebody, and I beat them out, that I deserved the right to play. And I'm 64 years old, and I still think that way. Now, it's up to that guy to win his job back."

Our View: It would be in the best interest of the Phillies to keep Werth in the lineup, as he is hitting .292 over 72 at-bats, with five homers and 12 RBI with two stolen bases. Werth has the same number of homers and one more RBI than Ryan Howard, on 20 less at-bats. He should be held onto as a member of your fantasy roster when Victorino returns.

Jayson Werth, RF, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 4/13, 5:28 PM CT
With Shane Victorino on the DL, Jayson Werth will have a chance for a lot more action. He took advantage on Sunday by starting in center and going 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs, two RBI, and two steals against the Cubs.

Our View: Wrist injuries robbed Werth of much of his prime hitting years, but he's a guy with pretty good pop and the chance to swipe an occasional bag. He's worth employing in NL-only leagues while Victorino is out.
