Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 8/21, 12:32 AM CT
Jeff Weaver allowed just two Cubs runs in 5.2 innings on Thursday, helping the Dodgers to a 7-2 win at home.

Our View: It's truly insane that this sentence is about to be typed, but with a 3.69 ERA in 68.2 innings this season, Weaver is worth a look in NL-only leagues if he stays in the Dodger rotation.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 8/18, 8:48 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Jeff Weaver will start for the Dodgers on Thursday.

Our View: Weaver is taking Hiroki Kuroda's spot in the rotation. He will face off against the Cubs, which is why Joe Torre decided go with the right-hander, who's stuff matches up well against the Cubs' right-heavy lineup. If you need a spot starter, Weaver could be a nice option against the slumping Cubbies.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 8/11, 9:20 PM CT
Jeff Weaver will take the injured Chad Billingsley's turn in the rotation on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: In 20 games (five starts) this season, Weaver has posted a solid 3.90 ERA, but a shaky 1.45 WHIP. Facing the Giants' weak lineup in a day game after a night game, however, makes him an acceptable spot-starting option.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 8/9, 8:10 AM CT
Jeff Weaver could be inserted into the Dodgers' starting rotation, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Weaver has pitched admirably in relief for the first place Dodgers this season, putting up a 4.11 ERA in 57 innings, but it wouldn't be a good sign if the team was forced to start him. Jason Schmidt and Chad Billingsley are both hurt, but the team would probably be better served by trading for somebody off waivers.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 7/11, 9:42 PM CT
Jeff Weaver allowed four runs (two earned) on six hits over a mere 3.1 innings in Saturday's 6-3 loss at Milwaukee. He had three walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: Weaver is not a good fantasy option while pitching in the Dodgers' rotation. He has not lasted longer than five innings in any of his starts this season.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 6/20, 11:40 PM CT
Jeff Weaver won the battle of the brothers on Saturday as the Dodgers beat the Angels 6-4. Weaver went five innings and allowed two runs on six hits while striking out four. He is now 4-1 on the year.

Our View: Weaver has been a bit of a surprise for the Dodgers this season, but he is pitching well enough to remain in the rotation right now. It remains to be seen what the Dodgers plan to do with him, but it would be wise to stay away until you know he has a spot as a starter.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 6/18, 10:51 AM CT
The OC Register is reporting that Dodgers' starter Jeff Weaver will get the nod against his younger brother Jared on Saturday as the Dodgers face the Angels in an interleague matchup. Weaver is starting in place of Eric Stults, who is not yet ready for a return to the rotation.

Our View: This is the first time since 2002 that brothers have opposed each other on the mound, but expect the younger bro to win out in this one. Jared has been near dominating this season, and Jeff is only a part-time member of the Dodgers' rotation. Jared owners should be looking forward to this start for more than the novelty.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 5/19, 8:44 PM CT
According to the Los Angeles Daily News, Jeff Weaver will get the start on Wednesday with Eric Stults getting skipped due to a thumb injury.

Our View: Weaver hasn't been bad this season, but he doesn't start consistently enough to hold any real fantasy value. Stults will move back into the rotation once his thumb is 100 percent.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 5/6, 12:10 AM CT
Jeff Weaver was sharp on Tuesday and was rewarded with his first win of the season. He threw five efficient innings, allowing just one run on five hits and a walk and struck out six as the Dodgers topped the D-Backs 3-1.

Our View: Weaver could be a weapon for the Dodgers this season if he can remain consistent. What is most impressive is his two walks in nine innings this season. Walks lead to trouble and by keeping them down, Weaver has stayed out of it. He may have earned himself another start.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 5/1, 12:33 AM CT
Jeff Weaver made his 2009 Dodger debut a memorable one. He was brought in during the second frame for a struggling James McDonald and went on to throw four scoreless innings during L.A.'s 8-5 win over the Padres on Thursday. He struck out four while allowing four hits and one walk.

Our View: The Dodgers had been using Weaver as a reliever in Triple-A and they would probably prefer to keep him in this role. However, given the struggles of McDonald, he may get bumped into the rotation.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 4/30, 7:01 PM CT
The L.A. Times reports that pitcher Jeff Weaver was promoted to the Dodgers on Thursday. He is expected to be used initially as a middle reliever. Blake DeWitt was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Our View: Weaver showed well in five appearances at Triple-A and the Dodgers needed some help in their bullpen. As a middle reliever, Weaver has no fantasy value.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 4/5, 7:21 AM CT
Jeff Weaver failed to make the Dodgers' final roster and was sent down to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday, according to the San Bernardino Sun.

Our View: "(Weaver's) going to go back to Albuquerque and extend a little bit to become a long man or spot starter," manager Joe Torre said. "He was very disappointed. His spring was worthy of making this club." While Torre's words were put nicely, Weaver in fact did not look too great in spring. While he did have 10 strikeouts compared to just three walks, his 15 hits and 7.20 ERA through 10 innings were too high too merit the No. 5 spot in the Dodgers' rotation, and James McDonald ended up winning out for the job. It does not look like Weaver will have any fantasy value this season and, at 34 years of age, likely will never again be relevant in fantasy circles.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 3/30, 2:34 PM CT
Jeff Weaver has been scratched from today's game with the Dodgers, according to MLB.com. He was sent to pitch in a minor league game instead.

Our View: Weaver made the Dodgers as a long-reliever, and skipper Joe Torre wants to stretch out his innings in case the club might eventually need him to start. James McDonald is believed to have won the fifth start in the rotation, but Torre did not announce it as of yet.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 3/16, 7:34 PM CT
Jeff Weaver failed to get an out while allowing two hits, a walk, and four earned runs in Monday's 10-8 loss to the A's.

Our View: Weaver's previous four outings went much better. Entering the game he had allowed only one run in five innings. However, things got ugly today, and he is probably on the outside looking in, regarding the opening day roster.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 2/9, 7:53 PM CT
The Dodgers have signed Jeff Weaver to a minor-league deal with an invitation to spring training, according to MLB.com. He is expected to compete for a job in the bullpen.

Our View: Weaver went 27-24 for the Dodgers in 2004-05, but he has not been very effective since then. He never made it to the majors last season with Cleveland. He may be more effective as a reliever, but he does not hold any fantasy value.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 7/14, 1:26 PM CT
Jeff Weaver made his debut with Triple-A Buffalo, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. He surrendered three runs on five hits with one walk over three innings in a 9-3 loss to Lousville.

Our View: Weaver isn't likely going to make an impact with the Indians this season, and doesn't garner fantasy interest.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 7/5, 11:22 AM CT
The Indians have signed Jeff Weaver to a minor league deal and sent him to Triple-A Buffalo, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Our View: The newspaper may be fooling their readers by proposing that Weaver may actually help the Indians. Good luck with that.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 6/12, 5:32 PM CT
Jeff Weaver was released from the Brewers organization on Thursday a day after he allowed eight runs and 11 hits in six innings at Triple-A, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Weaver will look to sign on with another organization, though he didn't do himself any favors by going 2-4 with a 6.22 ERA at Triple-A. Seth McClung figures to hold on to the fifth spot in the Brewers rotation.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 6/4, 6:57 PM CT
Jeff Weaver allowed 10 hits for the fifth time in 13 starts this season -- but won for the third time in four starts. He allowed four runs, struck out three and walked one.

Our View: Weaver is hot and cold. He's either bad or really good, unfortunately this year he's been bad more often than good, as evident in his 6.14 ERA.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 5/28, 7:43 PM CT
The Brewers have learned that RHP Jeff Weaver needs to be called to the majors by June 15th per his contract agreement with the teams or he may opt out of the deal, according to CBSSports.com.

Our View: The Brewers were working under the assumption that such a move needed to be made by June 1st, and they were stressing how they would proceed. Weaver's agent, Scott Boras, informed the team they had an additional two weeks to make the decision before his client would become a free agent, giving the Brewers more time to evaluate both Dave Bush and Seth McClung, potential victims of a move should Weaver be called to the majors.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 5/26, 10:46 AM CT
As part of his agreement, Jeff Weaver can ask for his release from the team next Sunday if he is not called up to the majors, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Our View: In five starts at Triple-A Nashville, Weaver is 1-2 with a 6.52 ERA, with 31 hits and eight walks allowed in 29 innings. Although the Brewers rotation needs help, he is not likely to get called up before Sunday.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 5/7, 2:12 AM CT
Jeff Weaver won his first game of the season for Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday after allowing one run in seven innings. He allowed four hits and struck out one batter.

Our View: Weaver is worth watching due to Milwaukee’s struggling starting rotation. He could find himself cracking the rotation soon, and while last season does leave a sour taste in the mouths of fantasy owners, Weaver did make a strong showing with the Cardinals late in 2006 and will be working with one of the most highly regarded pitching coaches in the game in Mike Maddux if and when he does arrive to Milwaukee.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 4/15, 2:38 PM CT
The earlier speculation proved to be true, as Jeff Weaver officially signed with the Brewers today, according to SI.com. He signed a minor league deal, and if Weaver is not called up to the Major League by June, he can declare free agency.

Our View: This is good news for him, but his fantasy value remains limited.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 4/15, 8:49 AM CT
Jeff Weaver is believed to have been signed by the Brewers, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. It is supposedly an incentive-laden deal, and the team will likely send Weaver to extended spring training and then Triple-A Nashville. He would provide pitching depth.

Our View: Weaver is on the decline, and his fantasy value remains limited.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 2/21, 9:49 AM CT
The Post Dispatch reports that the Cardinals could reach out and add another arm to their injury riddled staff. With Matt Clement (shoulder) questionable for Opening Day, the team will look at free agents Jeff Weaver and Bartolo Colon. Both pitchers have little fantasy upside; Weaver isn't the same pitcher he was in Detroit before moving on to several other teams, and Colon is damaged merchandise.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 8/19, 2:27 AM CT
Jeff Weaver earned his third consecutive victory Saturday, working into the eighth inning against Chicago. He gave up five hits and four runs, with one walk and five strikeouts. Improved command has a lot to do with this turnaround; Weaver has 16 strikeouts against just one walk over this winning stretch. He'll get a stronger test next week at Texas.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 6/11, 8:16 AM CT
It appears that the back problem that ended Jeff Weaver's Saturday start early isn't serious. He said he was feeling better Sunday and should make his next start on Thursday, according to the Seattle Times. Too bad there isn't a medical cure for a 12.46 ERA and 2.27 WHIP.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 6/10, 6:05 AM CT
Jeff Weaver was activated from the disabled list Saturday and started at San Diego, allowing two runs (one earned) over four innings, the AP reports. He eventually left the game with a stiff back.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 5/31, 10:44 AM CT
Jeff Weaver will not go on a rehab assignment before rejoining the Mariners rotation. He will throw a bullpen session today, another simulated game Sunday, and then will likely be re-inserted into the rotation the next weekend, according to the Seattle Times. The team has previously expressed a desire for Weaver, who's been out with shoulder tendinitis, to make a couple rehab starts first, but manager Mike Hargrove said he and Weaver are on the same page.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 5/30, 11:39 AM CT
Jeff Weaver says he's ready to return to the Mariners rotation, but the M's want him to make a couple rehab starts first. Weaver has been out with tendinitis in his pitching shoulder. He threw close to 70 pitches over four innings in a simulated game on Tuesday and felt encouraged. "It's not necessary for me right now," Weaver said in the Seattle Times. "I'm more or less recovered and I feel strong. My pitch count is already there. It's not like I have to start all over and build back up to it. It's there already."
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 5/29, 9:59 PM CT
Jeff Weaver, who has been on the DL since May 11 because of tendinitis in his shoulder, threw close to 70 pitches over four innings in a simulated game on Tuesday and felt encouraged, according to the AP. "I felt better as it went on, which is a key point," Weaver said. "I wasn't fatiguing by any means as the pitch count escalated. Everything was good throughout, from the windup and the stretch."
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 5/28, 8:16 PM CT
Jeff Weaver is scheduled to pitch a simulated game on Tuesday, according to the AP. He's been sidelined since May 10 with shoulder tendinitis. Upon his return, Weaver is expected to rejoin the Mariners rotation. Still, owners should steer clear of him in fantasy.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 5/25, 9:32 AM CT
Jeff Weaver threw about 60 to 70 pitches off flat ground in the bullpen before Thursday's game. He showed improved balance, but is still several sessions away from returning from the disabled list, according to the Seattle Times. Despite holding a 14.32 ERA in six starts this year, Weaver is expected to rejoin the Mariners rotation upon his return.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 5/13, 5:04 AM CT
Mike Hargrove says that Jeff Weaver will go back into the starting rotation when the righty is off the disabled list, the AP reports. Weaver is dealing with shoulder tendinitis.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 5/11, 10:11 PM CT
The Mariners placed the struggling Jeff Weaver on the 15-day disabled list Friday, believing shoulder tendinitis is the reason for his struggles this season, according to the AP. He is 0-6 with a 14.32 ERA in six starts this season after signing a one-year, $8,325,000 contract in the off-season.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 5/10, 9:57 PM CT
Jeff Weaver was beaten up Thursday by his old team, the Tigers. They shelled him for six runs on ten hits over five innings. Weaver now is 0-6 with a gigantic 14.32 ERA in six starts this season. With King Felix about to return and Cha Seung Baek pitching well, Weaver's rotation spot is in serious jeopardy.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 5/3, 9:48 AM CT
Despite his struggles this season, Jeff Weaver will remain in the starting rotation for the time being and start against the Yankees on Saturday, according to the Seattle Times. "We've looked at hundreds, thousands of feet of tape looking to see if he's tipping his pitches, what he's doing mechanically wrong," manager Mike Hargrove said, "and we've all come to the conclusion that there isn't really anything drastically wrong with his mechanics ... it's more of a mindset thing, so he's altered that a little bit." Despite Hargrove's willingness to stick with Weaver for now, it's obvious that the right-hander, who sports a 18.27 ERA in four starts, is on very thin ice.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 5/2, 9:36 AM CT
Mariners manager Mike Hargrove knows what he's going to do with Jeff Weaver, but he still hasn't revealed to the public whether he'll give the right-hander another start or send him to the bullpen to work out his troubles, according to the Seattle Times. Weaver has been nothing short of awful this year, holding a 18.27 ERA in four starts.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 4/30, 9:30 AM CT
Mike Hargrove said the Mariners have "two or three options" regarding what to do with struggling Jeff Weaver: keep him in the starting rotation, move him to the bullpen, or release him, the Seattle Times reports. Weaver has been dreadful in all four of his starts this year, allowing 31 hits and 23 earned runs in 11 1/3 innings. "It's kind of a Catch-22 right now with Jeff," Hargrove said. "You want to do what's best for him and the ballclub. Obviously, the ballclub comes first. If Jeff was handling this like, poor me, I feel so sorry for myself, kind of ... you'd have a lot less patience. But he's not. His comment to me last night when I went down to talk to him after I took him out was how he was letting everybody down, his teammates and the fans and everybody."
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 4/10, 5:06 PM CT
Jeff Weaver was hammered in his Mariners debut on Tuesday, giving up seven runs on seven hits and two walks in just two innings of work. He found little success pitching for the Angels in 2006, so it would be of little surprise if he encountered more struggles this year in the American League.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 3/20, 11:20 PM CT
Jeff Weaver gave up consecutive homers to Arizona's Chris Young and Stephen Drew in a five-run first inning Tuesday as the Mariners lost to the Diamondbacks 8-1. He allowed six runs, seven hits and two walks in four innings and has an 8.31 ERA, allowing 12 runs and 18 hits in 13 innings this spring. "I'd like to iron this out," Weaver told the AP. "I've got two more starts to go. I got up to 80 pitches today and felt strong throughout. That's the important part. But I'm still trying to get everything together."
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 1/29, 9:55 PM CT
The Mariners signed Jeff Weaver to one-year deal on Monday worth $8.325 million, according to SportsTicker. "We felt that signing Jeff gave us a great opportunity to add another veteran starter to our young mix," Seattle general manager Bill Bavasi said. "He has appeared in the postseason in four of the last five years, so he knows what it takes to get to that level and to succeed in those situations."
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 1/26, 9:04 PM CT
Jeff Weaver and the Mariners have reached an agreement on a one-year deal, pending a physical, the Seattle Times reports. The contract will pay Weaver a base salary of $8.325 million, and with incentives he could earn $9.4 million. The deal should be finished and announced Monday. Weaver joins a Seattle rotation that also includes Felix Hernandez, Jarrod Washburn, Miguel Batista and Horacio Ramirez.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 1/26, 2:29 AM CT
A baseball official close to the negotiations, and speaking on condition of anonymity because the contract had not yet been agreed to, said Thursday that the Mariners are closing in on a deal with Jeff Weaver, according to the AP. Weaver's agent, Scott Boras, was traveling Thursday and could not be reached for comment.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 1/25, 8:31 AM CT
The Pirates apparently have jumped in to the Jeff Weaver sweepstakes, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Re-signing with the Cardinals remains a possibility, but the Mets and Mariners also are in the mix for Weaver's services.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 1/24, 9:41 AM CT
The Cardinals will likely learn this week whether Jeff Weaver will accept their two-year contract offer, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The team apparently upped their offer over the weekend but held steady on its two-year framework. "We're still optimistic, but we haven't had a conversation in the last couple days," GM Walt Jocketty said late Tuesday afternoon. "It's not resolved by any stretch. But we're hopeful. I think we'll know a lot more in the next few days." The Mets and Mariners are also reportedly interested in Weaver.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 1/15, 11:14 AM CT
Negotiations between the Cardinals and Jeff Weaver have intensified as of late, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "We're still talking to Weaver. I don't know if we'll sign him or not, but we're talking to him," GM Walt Jocketty said Sunday. "We're still looking at ways to improve the club before spring training." Weaver, who is the only free agent pitcher the club is looking at, is reportedly seeking a four-year, $40 million deal.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersFriday 1/5, 10:53 AM CT
The Mets and Padres are two of the teams interested in Jeff Weaver, though neither team is likely to throw a major offer at the free-agent right hander.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersSaturday 12/2, 10:56 AM CT
The Cardinals failed to offer arbitration to Jeff Weaver, Jason Marquis, Ronnie Belliard, Preston Wilson and Jose Vizcaino by last night's deadline, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. GM Walt Jocketty confirmed Friday that the club is interested in retaining Weaver from that group.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 10/31, 10:15 PM CT
Jeff Weaver filed for free agency Tuesday. Weaver had a mediocre 2006 season (8-14, 5.76 ERA), but he allowed three runs or less in all five of his post-season starts, including an eight-inning gem (one earned run, nine strikeouts) in the World Series-clinching game.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 10/26, 11:25 AM CT
It appears that the Cardinals are leaning towards starting Jeff Weaver instead of Anthony Reyes in Game 5 on Friday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. With Wednesday's rainout, Weaver would be on regular rest. "I would think that's the direction you're leaning in," pitching coach Dave Duncan said when asked of the possibility of pitching Weaver in Game 5.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 10/16, 9:35 PM CT
Jeff Weaver will keep the Game 5 start for the Cardinals even with Monday's rainout. Tony LaRussa is resisting the temptation to bring back Chris Carpenter on three days of rest.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersMonday 10/9, 9:32 AM CT
The Cardinals will have Jeff Weaver start the first game of the NLCS versus the Mets, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He'll be followed in order by Jeff Suppan and Chris Carpenter.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 10/8, 11:04 PM CT
Jeff Weaver will start Game 1 of the NLCS against the Mets on Wednesday. He will face Tom Glavine.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 10/5, 11:50 PM CT
Jeff Weaver and four relievers, three of whom are rookies, combined on a four-hit shutout against the Padres in Game 2 of the NLDS on Thursday. Weaver gave up two singles in five innings, allowing only two Padres baserunners as far as second base. He struck out three and walked three.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 10/3, 9:19 AM CT
Jeff Weaver will pitch Game 2 of the NLDS for the Cardinals, with Jeff Suppan pitching Game 3, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The move was made because Weaver has pitched much better on the road this season, while Suppan has been much better at home.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 9/17, 8:35 PM CT
Jeff Weaver had his scheduled start on Sunday rained out. It's possible he could pitch Tuesday. "[Pitching coach] Dave Duncan and I are going to talk about it on the plane," manager Tony La Russa said. "Jeff did warm up, so ... we are going to try and figure it out."
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersThursday 8/3, 7:39 PM CT
Jeff Weaver will stay in the rotation despite the fact that he is giving up nearly a run per inning in his four starts for the Cardinals, according to the AP. "Is he the only guy struggling?" manager Tony La Russa said. "No, he's not. We're looking at everybody that's struggling and trying to get them right. I think when his turn comes up, he'll start." Weaver is 4-12 with a 6.71 ERA overall this year with the Angels and Cards.
Jeff Weaver, P, Los Angeles DodgersWednesday 7/5, 11:21 PM CT
The Angels traded Jeff Weaver to the Cardinals Wednesday night for minor league outfielder Terry Evans, according to the AP. "We feel that Weaver is someone who can come in and lend immediate help and depth to our rotation," Cardinals general manager Walt Jocketty said. Weaver was designated for assignment by the Angels last Friday after going 6-10 with a 6.29 ERA in 16 starts this season.
