Guillermo Mota, P, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 2/2, 6:03 PM CT
According to the San Jose Mercury News, the Giants have signed free agent reliever Guillermo Mota to a minor league deal.

Our View: The Dodgers declined to offer Mota arbitration after he posted a solid 3.44 ERA in 65.1 innings out of their bullpen last season. His deal with the Giants includes a spring training invite and it seems likely that he'll bring his 94 mph fastball to their relief core this season.

Guillermo Mota (toe) has been activated from the 15-day disabled list.

Our View: In 57 relief appearances this season, spanning 62 innings, Mota is 3-4 with a 3.34 ERA and just 35 strikeouts.

Sports Illustrated reports that the Dodgers have finalized their one-year, $2.35 million deal with relief pitcher Guillermo Mota.

Our View: GM Ned Colletti and manager Joe Torre hope Mota can regain the form he flashed while with Los Angeles in 2003, when he went 6-3 with a 1.97 ERA in 76 games.

Guillermo Mota will not undergo a physical today, and it's not clear when he will, though Tony Jackson of the LA Daily News thinks it could be tomorrow. Mota's one-year deal with the Dodgers is done, pending the physical.

Our View: Mota, once he is officially a Dodger, will help set up Jonathan Broxton, but he shouldn't be used outside of the deepest of fantasy leagues.

Right-handed reliever Guillermo Mota has signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to the L.A. Times.

Our View: Mota was average last season, throwing 57.1 innings, and accumulating a 4.11 ERA with a poor WHIP of 1.40. He had problems with command, walking 4.42 batters per nine innings, and will simply add a right-handed option to the team's middle relief corps.
Guillermo Mota, P, San Francisco GiantsMonday 1/12, 11:16 PM CT
Guillermo Mota is close to returning to the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Mota was perhaps the best setup man in the league while with the Dodgers in 2004 until they dealt him to the Marlins. He spent last year with the Brewers, going 5-6 with a 4.11 ERA in 58 games.

The Dodgers have shown interest in reliever Guillermo Mota, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Our View: The Dodgers could consider him if they are unable to land other prospective relievers, such as Juan Cruz. Mota held a passable 1.40 WHIP over 57 innings with Milwaukee in 2008.

Guillermo Mota will not be released by the Milwaukee Brewers as had been rumored, according to Brewers.com. "We're going to keep working with him, make him better," Milwaukee manager Ned Yost said.

Our View: Mota has been terrible this season, and should not be considered for fantasy rosters.
Guillermo Mota, P, San Francisco GiantsThursday 7/10, 10:35 AM CT
Guillermo Mota gave up four runs and two home runs in Wednesday's game against Colorado and may be designated for assignment today, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: Mota has been bad this season, and awful recently. He has given up nine earned runs in his last four innings and has no business being on a fantasy roster.

The Brewers are worried that reliever Guillermo Mota may be tipping his pitches, as he's been hit hard recently. "His stuff has been really, really good, but he has not been productive. It kind of boggles my mind," manager Ned Yost tells the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: Mota was solid through April and May, but he didn't have a very good June and has been awful in two outings this July. It's possible that he watched Eric Gagne and Derrick Turnbow and just figured that he was supposed to pitch this way. Anyway, Mota has no fantasy value.

Three Brewers pitchers failed to record an out as seven consecutive Diamondbacks reached base in the ninth, the most responsible for the Milwaukee collapse was Guillermo Mota. Salomon Torres (4-2) suffered the loss allowing Conner Jackson to hit a ground ball up the middle, through a drawn-in infield, and the Diamondbacks kept their small lead in the NL West and returned to the .500 mark (43-43).

Our View: Mota didn't have anything. He allowed two hits and a walk before departing the game shaking his head. The right-hander hasn't been very good the entire season. His 4.22 ERA coming into Thursday's game included 16 walks in only 32 innings of work.
Guillermo Mota, P, San Francisco GiantsMonday 5/12, 10:13 PM CT
Right-hander Guillermo Mota came into Monday's game against the Cardinals with the bases loaded and struck out center fielder Rick Ankiel for his first save of the season.

Our View: The Brewers are going with "closer by committee" since removing Eric Gagne from the role this weekend. Mota, Mitch Stetter, David Riske, Brian Shouse and Salomon Torres are all in line to receive situational saves.
