Matt Herges has been recalled by the Colorado Rockies, according to the team's Twitter page. Herges will take the roster spot of the injured Aaron Cook.

Our View: Herges signed a minor league deal with the team in July, and he has been with their Triple-A affiliate for the last month or so. He was decent in his time with the Indians earlier this season, and he could be a nice addition to the Rockies' bullpen.

Matt Herges has signed a minor league deal with the Rockies, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: The Rockies have been really scrounging for bullpen help of late, and Herges actually had a respectable 3.55 ERA in 25.1 innings for the Indians this season. He has pitched in Denver before and is a good bet to get called up soon. He shouldn't be an option in any format, however.

The OC Register is reporting that the Angels may have some interest in the recently released Matt Herges. The Angels could use some depth in the bullpen, and Herges was decent with the Indians, compiling a 3.55 ERA.

Our View: Herges was actually one of the better relievers in the Tribe's pen, but the team decided to part ways. He isn't going to change the landscape of the division if he goes to LA, but he could be a nice addition to their bullpen. He will still have no fantasy value.

According to the Twitter page of the Cleveland Indians, pitcher Matt Herges has been released by the team and is now a free agent. Herges was designated for assignment by the team on July 4.

Our View: Herges was actually decent for the Tribe compared to the rest of their bullpen, but obviously the Indians feel they are better off without him. He holds no fantasy value regardless of where he ends up, so no need to keep tabs on his whereabouts.

MLB.com is reporting that the Indians are expected to designate pitcher Matt Herges for assignment to make room for the newly acquired Wilson Abreu. Herges is 2-1 with a 3.55 ERA this season.

Our View: Herges isn't having a terrible season, so this seems like an interesting move. The Indians' bullpen has been awful, but Herges is hardly the one causing it. He has no fantasy value, but don't be shocked if he gets picked up by another team.

Matt Herges has been recalled to fulfill the roster spot vacated by the demotion of Rafael Perez, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Herges is no more than a league average middle reliever, and his '07 season was an anomaly. There's no fantasy value here.

Matt Herges has signed a minor league deal with the Indians, according to the Hot Stove Blog on MLB.com.

Our View: Herges will be invited to spring training and will compete for the seventh (and final) spot in the bullpen. Either way, the 38-year-old reliever won't hold any fantasy value.

The Denver Post reports that the Rockies declined picking up Matt Herges' option for next season.

Our View: The veteran right-hander went 3-4 with a 5.04 ERA in 58 games in 2008.

Matt Herges, who is recovering from lower back stiffness, flew to Las Vegas on Wednesday night to join Triple-A Colorado Springs for a rehab assignment, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View: Herges is expected to be activated Tuesday, which is the first day he is eligible to come off the DL. He holds no fantasy value with a 5.09 ERA and poor 1.56 WHIP over 58.1 innings of relief.

Matt Herges has been put on the disabled list by the Rockies as he continues to suffer from lower back stiffness, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View: Herges was pitching in middle relief and had an ERA over 5.00 and a WHIP of 1.56. He had no fantasy value.

Colorado has moved RHP Matt Herges out of the team's role as setup reliever, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Herges, who lost a 4-2 lead in the seventh inning of the Rockies' 5-4 loss to the White Sox on Friday night, is 0-3 with three blown saves and a 7.20 ERA in his past 10 appearances. Manager Clint Hurdle said he's looking to work right-hander Luis Vizcaino, who has made three appearances since returning from a right shoulder strain, toward the end of the game. The Rockies signed him to a two-year, $.7.5 million contract as a setup man. Hurdle also said right-handers Jason Grilli and Ryan Speier, and left-hander Jorge De La Rosa, could get some of the work that Herges had been receiving.

Matt Herges, pitching in relief of Roks rookie Greg Reynolds, threw a scoreless seventh and eighth innings to earn his second win of the season.

Our View: Herges, who admitted using performance-enhancing substances, re-signed with the Rockies last November has been a staple in their bullpen.

Matt Herges admitted Wednesday to using performance-enhancing drugs, according to SportsTicker. The Rockies reliever was one of 86 players named in the Mitchell Report. "Several years ago, I made a poor decision rather than trusting in the abilities the Lord has blessed me with," Herges said in a statement Wednesday. "With great insecurity, I chose to cross the line and briefly use performance-enhancing substances. I have no excuse for my actions." Herges re-signed with the Rockies last November, before the report came out.

Matt Herges has reached a contract agreement with the Rockies and is in Denver to complete a physical. It's not clear what the terms of the deal are, but the Denver Post speculates that it's a one-year contract for around $2 million with an option for a second year.

Free agent reliever Matt Herges has narrowed his list to two teams, with the Rockies being one of them. "The Rockies are one of the final teams," Herges' agent, Danny Horwitz said Monday in the Denver Post. "I expect a decision to come down in the next day or so." The Rockies originally offered Herges a one-year contract in the neighborhood of $1.5 million to $2 million, but it might take a multi-year deal to bring him back. Herges posted a 2.96 ERA and 1.01 WHIP in 2007 for Colorado.
