Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 10/9, 4:58 PM CT
According to the Chicago Tribune, the White Sox are in preliminary discussions with outfielder Scott Podsednik to try and bring him back next season.

Our View: Podsednik emerged as an offensive catalyst out of the mist for the White Sox in 2009 and the team looks to want to reward him with a new deal that will keep him on the South side. The speedster hit .304 with seven homers, 48 RBI and 30 steals this season and represents an affordable option out of the leadoff spot. He would be noticeably cheaper that free agent to be, Chone Figgins.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 9/18, 11:37 PM CT
Scott Podsednik went 1-for-3 with a single in tonight's 11-0 loss to the Royals at U.S. Cellular Field.

Our View: The Sox only mustered three hits in the game. Podsednik is batting .353 over 68 at-bats this month.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 9/9, 11:10 PM CT
Scott Podsednik went 4-for-7 with a stolen base on Wednesday, helping the White Sox outlast the A's 4-3 in 13 innings at home.

Our View: Podsednik's South Side career renaissance continues. The outfielder is now batting .307 with 27 stolen bases in his return to the White Sox after a one-year sabbatical in Colorado.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 9/6, 5:41 PM CT
Scott Podsednik collected three hits on Sunday, but the White Sox could collect just one run, as Boston won 6-1 in Chicago.

Our View: Podsednik is now batting an even .300 with five home runs, 43 RBI and 26 steals during his renaissance 2009 season.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 7/20, 10:33 PM CT
Scott Podsednik went 3-for-3 on Monday with two runs, two doubles, a walk and a stolen base, his 15th of the season.

Our View: Podsednik continues to excel atop the White Sox lineup and looks like he could continue to provide one of the best combinations of batting average, stolen bases and runs going forward this season.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 6/27, 7:45 PM CT
Scott Podsednik came up huge for the White Sox in their Windy City battle against the Cubs on Saturday, going 4-for-5 with two runs, three RBI and his third home run of the season, though he was caught stealing for his fifth time of the year.

Our View: He actually beat the throw on his stolen base attempt but came off the bag for an instant while sliding through it, though you won't hear anyone complaining. The game marked his third-straight multi-hit performance, not to mention nine in his past 14 games. With his top-notch speed, he's a must-add in all formats right now, if he's still available.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 6/25, 6:17 PM CT
Scott Podsednik led the Sox in Thursday's 6-5 win over the Dodgers at U.S. Cellular Field, as he went 2-for-6 with a RBI and a run scored. He notched a pair of singles, with the second coming in the bottom of the 13th inning to win the battle.

Our View: 'Scotty Pods' (as he is known in Chicago) is hitting .302 so far this month, with two homers and nine RBI. He is worth consideration for AL-only leagues if you need help in your roto-outfield.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 6/17, 4:30 PM CT
Scott Podsednik was 2-for-4 with an RBI, a walk, and a stolen base as the White Sox defeated the Cubs 4-1 on Wednesday.

Our View: Carlos Quentin remains sidelined and may not be back until after the all-star break, so Pods will continue to start. In 133 leadoff at bats this season he is hitting .316 with nine stolen bases. He is a suitable temporary solution for owners replacing an injured outfielder.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 6/11, 6:58 PM CT
Scott Podsednik went 2-for-5 with a game-winning RBI in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Tigers at U.S. Cellular Field. Both of his knocks were singles.

Our View: His game-winning hit came in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded off reliever Joel Zumaya. Podsednik is hitting .283 (13-for-46) so far in June, with one homer and five stolen bases. He is worth employing in AL-only leagues.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 5/25, 11:43 PM CT
Scott Podsednik was 4-for-5 with a walk, a double, two RBI, and two runs scored in the White Sox 17-3 win over the Angels on Monday. He started in center field but moved to left field after Carlos Quentin re-aggravated his plantar fasciitis injury.

Our View: Podsednik has seen regular at bats throughout Quentin's battle with his ailing foot. Still, he has provided mediocre fantasy punch and he has been caught stealing in three of his six chances this season.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 5/20, 3:02 PM CT
Scott Podsednik will start in left field tonight against the Twins at U.S. Cellular Field, according to the Chicago Tribune. He replaces the ailing Carlos Quentin.

Our View: Podsednik has a hit in three straight games, and holds a .335 average over 167 career at-bats against Minnesota. He is worth consideration if you have Podsednik on fantasy rosters.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 5/19, 3:14 PM CT
Scott Podsednik will roam left field tonight with Carlos Quentin (foot) out, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Brian Anderson will start in center field. Podsednik holds a .337 career average over 163 at-bats against Minnesota, and is worth employing in fantasy lineups tonight, especially since opposing pitcher Scott Baker is 1-4 with a poor 6.95 ERA.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 4/30, 2:50 PM CT
Scott Podsednik has been recalled from the minors by the White Sox, according to FOX Sports. The adjoining move was not announced, but it may be Jerry Owens after he was seen packing his bags after Wednesday's game against Seattle.

Our View: Podsednik could start in center field if Brian Anderson (strained oblique) is unable to go Friday night at Texas. Podsednik helped the Sox claim the World Series title back in 2005, and led the majors with 70 stolen bases in 2004. He is worth a look in AL-only leagues.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 4/30, 12:16 PM CT
As expected, Scott Podsednik will be recalled from the minors by the White Sox on Friday, according to ESPN.

Our View: Podsednik is in great shape and was a key contributor during Chicago's magical run to the World Series in 2005. He will roam center field with Brian Anderson ailing.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 4/29, 5:41 PM CT
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Scott Podsednik may get called up following Bryan Anderson's strained oblique that he suffered on Wednesday.

Our View: Podsednik was not very effective last season but he'll always garner some fantasy attention due to his ability to steal bases. If he does indeed get a regular job, he's probably worth keeping an eye on, but he does not come highly recommended.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 4/14, 12:09 PM CT
The Chicago Tribune reports that the White Sox have agreed to terms with Scott Podsednik on a minor league deal.

Our View: Podsednik, who was a major part of the 2005 World Series Sox team, is back in the organization after being cut by the Rockies. He was signed after the injury that landed CF DeWayne Wise on the DL.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 4/1, 8:25 AM CT
Scott Podsednik was reassigned to minor league camp on Tuesday, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Our View: Dexter Fowler will have a spot on the opening day roster as a result, which figures to dampen the value of Ryan Spilborghs. Podsednik hit just .217 in 46 spring at-bats.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 1/14, 3:43 PM CT
The Rockies have re-signed outfielder Scott Podsednik to a minor league deal, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: He was retained to provide depth in the outfield, and speed on the basebaths following the departure of Willy Taveras to Cincinnati. Podsednik stole 12 bases last season, and only Clint Barmes (13) stole more among their returning players.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 12/12, 9:46 AM CT
The Rockies are expected to offer Scott Podsednik a non-guaranteed deal to remain with the club, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Podsednik is still a capable thief on the basepaths, but his fantasy stock would remain low as a reserve outfielder in Colorado.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 8/22, 6:17 PM CT
Scott Podsednik has returned to the team after completing his rehab assignment, according to ColoradoRockies.com.

Our View: Podsednik has minimal value in fantasy leagues, as the job of leadoff speed demon is firmly in the hands of Willy Taveras in Colorado.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 8/17, 12:43 PM CT
Scott Podsednik, who is recovering from a fractured hand, will begin a four-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Colorado Springs on Monday, according to the Rocky Mountain News. Manager Clint Hurdle said Podsednik "potentially could be ready" to be activated from the DL Friday for the start of a series with the Reds.

Our View: Podsednik will be a backup outfielder when he returns, but is worth a look in deeper NL-only leagues if you gravely need help in the speed department, as he registered 10 steals this season.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 8/15, 8:34 PM CT
Scott Podsednik will take full-scale batting practice on Saturday and likely begin a rehab assignment next week, according to MLB.com. He has been sidelined with a fractured pinky on his left hand.

Our View: We'll let you know how Pods' BP and presumptive rehab assignment go.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 8/13, 2:49 PM CT
Scott Podsednik was given clearance to begin swinging a bat on Tuesday and hopes to be on a minor league rehab assignment by this weekend, according to the Rocky Mountain News. He has been out since July 28 with a fractured little finger on his left hand.

Our View: Barring a setback, he would be on pace to be ready to rejoin the Rockies' active roster next week in Los Angeles. He would serve as a backup in the Rockies' outfield, but would be worth a look in deeper NL-only leagues if you gravely need help in the speed department, as he notched 10 stolen bases this season.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 7/29, 11:38 AM CT
The Rockies placed Scott Podsednik on the DL Tuesday due to a broken bone in his hand, according to the Rocky Mountain News. The team recalled Cory Sullivan from Triple-A Colorado Springs to replace Pods on the roster.

Our View: Pods held a bit of value in NL-only play with his 10 steals, but Sullivan will be a comparable replacement, at least from the Rockies' standpoint.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 6/15, 6:46 PM CT
Scott Podsednik hurt his former team as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Sunday's 5-3 win over the White Sox in inter-league play.

Our View: Those were his first RBI since June 3, and his first hit since June 1.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 5/20, 11:33 PM CT
Colorado outfielder Scott Podsednik continues to make his case for regular starts, taking advantage of the time as the Rockies' leadoff man tonight to go 2-for-4 at the plate with one walk, one stolen base (his seventh of the season), and one run scored.

Our View: To be fair, four of those stolen bases came last month in spot action, but the Rockies are desperate to get the offense going and Podsednik could prove capable of providing that spark.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 5/20, 6:35 PM CT
In an attempt to get the offense back on track, Colorado manager Clint Hurdle has pushed outfielder Scott Podsednik into the top spot in the batting order, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Podsednik replaces Willie Taveras who has failed to meet offensive expectations. Podsednik has shown well at the plate and adds speed and the threat of steals to the base paths.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 5/4, 5:17 PM CT
Scott Podsednik did an excellent job of filling in for a resting Willy Taveras on Sunday. The veteran went 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs, and a pair of steals in a win over the Dodgers.

Our View: There's no doubt that Pods can still run, but his starts are too few and far between for all but NL-only leagues.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 4/24, 7:17 PM CT
Scott Podsednik made a rare start on Thursday but he went 3-for-5 with a run scored and a SB for the Rockies.

Our View: In just 23 AB Podsednik has done a remarkable job of allowing the team to rest Willy Taveras without losing a single thing. Finally healthy, Podsednik should steal at least 20 bases, even with part time work, giving him a lot of value in the right situation.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 3/29, 8:57 AM CT
As expected, Scott Podsednik beat out Cory Sullivan to earn the fourth outfielder's job with the Rockies, according to the Rocky Mountain News. He could have opted out of his contract had he not been kept on the big league roster.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 3/26, 7:37 AM CT
Scott Podsednik is expected to beat out Cory Sullivan for the fourth outfielder's job, although no official announcement has been made, the Denver Post implies. Pods could have some fantasy value if Willy Taveras battles injuries during the year.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 3/18, 8:02 AM CT
Non-roster outfielder Scott Podsednik came off the bench and registered a triple in the seventh inning of the Rockies' 4-2 victory Monday, according to the team website. Podsednik, who is batting .370 this spring, has impressed skipper Clint Hurdle. "It's always good when you see somebody you call off the bench come up with a hit like that," said Rockies manager Clint Hurdle, who said he is starting to manage like it's the regular season. Barring an injury to the current projected outfield in Colorado, Brad Hawpe, Willie Taveras and Matt Holliday, Pods is likely to begin the season at Triple-A.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 3/10, 4:55 PM CT
Scott Podsednik doesn't have a starting spot with the Rockies, but according to a report on SI.com, he has looked really, really good this spring. Willy Taveras will be the main speedster in the Rockies lineup, but if he once again struggles with injuries, the team could turn to Podsednik and see little if any drop-off at the top of the order.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 3/4, 11:48 PM CT
Scott Podsednik went 2-for-3 with one run, one RBI, and one stolen base in Colorado’s 5-11 loss to Kansas City in Cactus League action on Tuesday.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 2/5, 2:22 PM CT
Scott Podsednik and the Rockies finalized a minor-league contract Tuesday. The oft-injured speedster will attempt to win a bench job in Colorado.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 1/30, 11:00 AM CT
The Rockies have reached a tentative agreement with Scott Podsednik on a minor-league deal. Pods would battle Cory Sullivan for a backup role behind Willy Taveras, according to the Rocky Mountain News. The speedster dealt with all kinds of leg problems last year for the White Sox, as he played in just 62 games.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 11/20, 4:03 PM CT
The White Sox designated Scott Podsednik for assignment Tuesday, according to the AP. The Pale Hose have soured on the speedster in recent years, and constant injury issues have limited his usefulness in fantasy.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 8/30, 10:53 AM CT
Manager Ozzie Guillen has told Scott Podsednik that Josh Fields moving from third base to left field doesn't necessarily seal Podsednik's fate. "At this particular time, I don't know because we don't know if Josh Fields is going to be our left fielder next year," Guillen said in the Chicago Sun-Times. "We just put him there to see how he can handle that situation because right now is the right time. But right now, we can't count [Podsednik] out because we don't know yet. Josh Fields has to show us how he can play there."
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 8/29, 10:08 AM CT
Scott Podsednik, recovering from a ribcage injury, took batting practice Tuesday and is expected to return this week. However, with Josh Fields now starting in left, playing time is going to be hard to come by for Pods, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Manager Ozzie Guillen said he will meet with Podsednik this week and let him know what's going on.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 8/23, 10:59 AM CT
If Scott Podsednik isn't ready to return from his ribcage injury today, the White Sox may place him on the disabled list. And if that happens, it's possible Podsednik will be done for the year, according to the Chicago Tribune. "[If] it gets to the point that we put him on the [disabled list], then he could be done for the season because it's 15 days plus rehab with the minor-league season going to be over pretty soon," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "We'll try to stay away from that." We should learn more about Podsednik's status today.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 8/23, 4:49 AM CT

Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 8/21, 11:46 PM CT

Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 8/10, 7:58 PM CT
The Cubs have reportedly claimed Scott Podsednik off waivers from the White Sox. The Sox would have two business days to work out a trade with the Cubs, simply let him go to the Northsiders or pull him off waivers, according to the AP.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 7/25, 5:49 AM CT
Scott Podsednik went 1-for-7 with a stolen base Tuesday, playing both ends of a doubleheader for the White Sox. He was activated off the DL earlier in the day, coming back from a strined left ribcage muscle.

Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxFriday 7/20, 9:16 AM CT
Scott Podsednik won't be activated from the disabled list this weekend, according to the Chicago Tribune. Podsednik, who's on the DL with a strained rib cage, just started a minor league rehab assignment on Wednesday.

Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 7/9, 7:03 AM CT
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said he expects Scott Podsednik to come off the disabled list soon after the All-Star break, according to the Daily Southtown. Considering his track record, that's anything but a sure bet. Podsednik is recovering from a strained ribcage muscle that he sustained just two weeks after returning from a strained adductor muscle.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 7/4, 6:01 AM CT
Scott Podsednik went on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday because of a strained left ribcage muscle, the AP reports. The move came less than two weeks after Podsednik returned from a two-month stint on the DL with a strained adductor muscle.

Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxSunday 7/1, 6:02 PM CT
Scott Podsednik left Sunday's game in the first inning with a strained rib muscle, according to the AP. "It's the rib cage, so I don't know. Those things can take a little while," Guillen said. "We're going to see when we get to Chicago and the doctor sees him and how he feels. It's day-by-day." Podsednik is not expected to play on Monday.

Scott Podsednik is nearing a return from his strained right adductor. However, manager Ozzie Guillen said the outfielder won't come off the disabled list until at least Monday, according to the Chicago Tribune. His fantasy value may be limited for a while, though. He makes his impact with his wheels, but he has yet to even attempt a steal on his rehab assignment.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 6/5, 9:12 PM CT
Scott Podsednik is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment on Wednesday. However, he's not fully recovered from his groin injury, according to the AP. "I've definitely improved," he said. "I'm close to 80 percent. I'm not 100 percent but I've still got some work to do. But it's time to move forward and get on the baseball field." He probably won't be activated from the disabled list until he is 100 percent, though he is expected to resume his role as the starting left fielder.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 5/30, 9:19 AM CT
Scott Podsednik continues to make progress as he slowly rehabilitates his strained right adductor. “This week I gained quite a bit of strength down there,” Podsednik told the White Sox official website. “I’m probably running at 80 percent. It will probably take a week or two to get up to 100 percent, gain a little more strength, then we will test it out.” Pods is scheduled for an MRI exam early next week and could go on a minor league rehab assignment shortly after that.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 5/26, 4:38 AM CT
Scott Podsednik took batting practice Friday, though Ozzie Guillen isn't expecting the outfielder to return anytime soon, the AP reports. Podsednik is coming back from a right groin strain. Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 5/17, 8:54 AM CT

Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 5/7, 6:34 AM CT
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said that once Scott Podsednik returns to action, the outfielder no longer will be the leadoff batter, according to the Daily Southtown. "When he comes back, I've already decided that (Darin) Erstad is going to stay my leadoff hitter," Guillen said Sunday. "I'm not going to switch Erstad back into the No. 2 hole. That way we'll have speed at the bottom of the lineup. I don't want to use Podsednik at the top of the lineup because all of a sudden there's all this pressure to get on base, steal bases. This way, we'll use his legs a little bit less because he'll get less at-bats. I've talked to a couple of the coaches already, and when (Podsednik) gets back, he'll be batting seventh or eighth."
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 4/30, 8:59 AM CT
Scott Podsednik feels he's made some progress of late with his groin injury, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. "It's gotten significantly better after the activity we've done, and that's a positive," Podsednik said. "It's improving day to day but still not to a point where we can push it. Most of the inflammation is gone, but it's still pretty tight." The White Sox are hoping to get Podsednik back in June at some point.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 4/25, 9:10 AM CT
Although Scott Podsednik is eligible to come off the disabled list next Tuesday, Ozzie Guillen is merely hoping to get his outfielder back by June, the Chicago Tribune reports. Podsednik has a groin injury. "I hope it's not [something] we have to deal with for a long time," Guillen said of Podsednik. "I would like him to take a couple of games in the minor leagues to see how his legs are doing, and then we can count on him." Podsednik said last Wednesday he probably wouldn't resume light running until the end of April, and Guillen is braced for a lengthy recovery. "We're better off with him taking his time," Guillen said. "When he comes back, come back for good. Make sure he pays attention to his legs. That's his game."
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 4/19, 6:18 AM CT
Scott Podsednik expects to be out several weeks due to the groin injury that forced him to the disabled list, according to the Daily Southtown. "It'll probably be a couple of weeks before I'm able to go out and start running and jogging, but again, it's really too early to go ahead and give you a timetable ... " he said. "We're going to have to start out baby steps. It will start out probably just some walking, some aggressive walking on the treadmill, then escalate it to some lateral stuff. We're going to take it slow."
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 4/17, 4:19 PM CT
The White Sox placed Scott Podsednik on the DL Tuesday due to a pulled groin muscle, according to the AP. Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 3/17, 8:54 AM CT
Manager Ozzie Guillen is confident that Scott Podsednik, who is recovering from sports hernia surgery, will be ready by opening day, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. "We should count on him for Opening Day," Guillen said. "The way he is right now, he's going to be on the 25-man roster. I don't think he's going to be on the DL. If everything stays the same, he should be on the team." Pods made his spring debut on Friday.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxSaturday 3/17, 12:11 AM CT
Scott Podsednik made his spring debut on Friday against the Cubs, going 1-for-2 at the plate and making a diving catch in the outfield, according to the AP. It was his first major league action since undergoing surgery to repair a sports hernia in January. "At this point I think the only thing I really lack is that first-step quickness, that explosion, which is something I have not been really able to train for here," Podsednik said. "Other than that I feel pretty good." It's possible Podsednik could be ready by opening day, although nothing is set in stone.
Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxThursday 3/15, 8:45 AM CT
Scott Podsednik, who is returning from hernia surgery, returned to action on Wednesday, and it's possible he could be ready by opening day, according to the Chicago Tribune. Scott Podsednik, LF, Chicago White SoxWednesday 3/7, 7:59 AM CT
