Damion Easley, 2B, New York MetsWednesday 11/26, 4:19 PM CT
East Valley Tribune The Diamondbacks have continued negotiations with free-agent Damion Easley, but have not offered him a contract, according to the East Valley Tribune.

Our View: Most of the teams that are interested in the veteran are looking at him as a bench player. In 113 games in 2008, Easley hit .269 and drove in 44 runs.
Damion Easley, 2B, New York MetsMonday 11/24, 11:36 AM CT
The Diamondbacks have talked to Damion Easley's rep, according to MLB.com. They have talked to Mark Loretta's agent as well.

Our View: The Diamondbacks offered 32-year-old Ramon Vazquez a one-year deal, but he seeks a long-term investment. Easley could be viewed as a backup plan, and would likely platoon with Vazquez at second base if both are inked by the club.
Damion Easley, 2B, New York MetsTuesday 11/4, 11:03 AM CT
Damion Easley will not be brought by the Mets, according to the New York Daily News. The Mets need a player that fits better as a backup shortstop than Easley.

Our View: Easley will certainly find a bench spot with some major league club for 2009, it's just unclear where he'll land.
Damion Easley, 2B, New York MetsSunday 9/21, 2:00 PM CT
After taking some swings on Sunday, Damion Easley says he can pinch-hit for the Mets, but cannot play in the field yet because of his strained quad, according to Mets.com.

Our View: Easley has been out more than a week with the quad injury. He is a fairly valuable backup for the Mets, who could use his bat should they end up in the postseason.
Damion Easley, 2B, New York MetsThursday 9/18, 1:05 PM CT
Damion Easley could miss the remainder of the season due to a potential tear in his right quad, according to the AP. Easley said, "I don’t know if that’s true. I mean, anything is I guess possible. I know it’s not going to be a hundred percent. At the same time I’ve got to get it past a walking stage. I feel it walking, sitting, getting up from sitting. Just the initial moves, just normal functions. Until I can get past that stage, it’s useless trying to do anything."

Our View: The team already lost Fernando Tatis for the rest of the season due to a separated shoulder, and Easley would be a significant loss to the Mets' middle infield. Argenis Reyes is seeing time at second base, but is not a worthy substitute.
Damion Easley, 2B, New York MetsWednesday 9/17, 5:11 PM CT
The Mets are struggling down the stretch again in 2008 as they did in 2007 and the bad news just keeps coming. Yesterday, the Mets loss Fernando Tatis for the year and now it looks like Damion Easley might not play again in 2008, according to the New York Post. "I want to be healthy, but that's not the reality now," Easley said.

Our View: The loss of Easley will be a felt by the Mets due to his experience but fantasy owners will not take a hit because he doesn't have much value.
Damion Easley, 2B, New York MetsTuesday 9/16, 8:15 AM CT
Mets second baseman Damion Easley was unable to take batting practice with the team as he is still having trouble with his sore quad, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: It is not known when Easley will be able to return, but this should not affect fantasy too much, as he does not have the numbers to make him all that effective in leagues.
Damion Easley, 2B, New York MetsSunday 9/14, 1:43 PM CT

Damion Easley, 2B, New York MetsWednesday 7/30, 9:59 PM CT
Damion Easley hit a punch hit, three run home run in the seventh inning for the Mets in their 7-5 loss to the Marlins.

Our View: Easly continues to prove worthy of at-bats as he is hitting .279 with 29 RBI in limited duty for the Mets. Luis Castillo owners should be very concerned that even when healthy, he won't be able to unseat Easley.
Damion Easley, 2B, New York MetsFriday 7/11, 9:53 PM CT
Damion Easley came thru in a big way on Friday when he cranked a solo shot in the eighth that would be enough for the Mets win. He was 2-for-3 on the night

Our View: The ageless one is hitting .407 with nine RBI in July, following up a June that saw him hit .340. Dare we say that the 38 year-old is a quality pickup? Maybe he was four weeks ago, but we can't bring ourselves to believe that the 16-year vet with a career .253 average will keep this up.
Damion Easley, 2B, New York MetsSaturday 7/5, 9:44 PM CT
Damion Easley had a big night on Saturday with three hits, two runs scored and an RBI for the Mets out of the five hole.

Our View: That's seven games with a hit for Easley who is hitting .458 in that time (11-for-24). With the injury to Luis Castillo, Easley figures to see a substantial amount of playing time the next coupe of weeks.
Damion Easley, 2B, New York MetsWednesday 7/2, 11:44 PM CT
Damion Easley went 3-for-4 with three RBI in Wednesday's 8-7 loss to the Cardinals. He hit two singles and one double.

Our View: Easley has registered a hit in four-straight games and has recorded an RBI in each of his last two. He made another start at second base tonight, and is worth picking up in NL-only leagues if Luis Castillo lands on the DL.

Easley went 3-for-4 with a walk at the dish, hitting his fourth double of the season to finish with three RBIs and one run scored.

Our View: Easley has struggled along, going 8-for-49 through May with just four RBIs. He nearly matched that production this evening in one game.

Damion Easley homered for the first time since Aug. 18 of last year at Washington. The utility player added an RBI single in the third of the Mets loss to the Nats.

Damion Easley, 2B, New York MetsSaturday 4/12, 12:18 PM CT
Damion Easley will replace the injured Jose Reyes (hamstring) in the starting lineup today. The Mets' top utility infielder is batting seventh.

Our View: Easley has been slow to heal from torn ankle ligaments that ended his 2007 season, but replaced Reyes on Friday and will likely start for the All Star until he is healthy enough to return.

Damion Easley suffered a bad ankle injury on Saturday. He tried to abort a slide attempt and turned his ankle in the process, according to the New York Daily News. "I tried to hit the brakes and go in standing," Easley said. "I'm not quite sure what happened after that. I just felt it roll. I didn't hear a snap. I didn't hear a pop. But I know I rolled it pretty good, because the pain was right away. I think I hopped into second. I think." X-rays revealed a Grade III sprain, which is a completely torn ligament. Easley missed three months with such an injury to his other ankle two years ago, so his 2007 season may well be over. More will be known after he undergoes more testing, including an MRI, over the next couple of days, but it doesn't sound promising for Easley.
Damion Easley, 2B, New York MetsMonday 7/23, 7:33 AM CT
Damion Easley could rejoin the Mets as soon as Tuesday. He was placed on the bereavement list last week to be with his ailing father, who died on Saturday, according to the New York Daily News. GM Omar Minaya had suggested that the team might try moving Easley to the restricted list if Easley was going to be out longer than the seven days allowable on the BL, but he now believes that's prohibited by rule. That means that if Easley isn't ready to rejoin the team Tuesday, they will have to play a man short.
