Brendan Donnelly, P, Pittsburgh PiratesSaturday 1/16, 2:27 PM CT
Updating an earlier item, Brendan Donnelly's 2010 contract with the Pirates will pay him a base salary of $1.5 million, according to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN. Incentives could push the deal to $3 million.

Our View: That seems like a lot of money for someone who is 38 years old and has struggled to stay healthy for over three seasons, but when you are the Pirates you have to do some things other teams might not do. If he lives up to his contract, expect him to be traded next July.

Updating an earlier item, the Pirates have agreed to a contract with free agrent reliever Brendan Donnelly, according to Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Terms are not yet available, though it will obviously be a one-year pact. Donnelly pitched only 25.1 innings for the Marlins in 2009, but managed to post a 1.78 ERA. If he can stay healthy, he could be a very nice late-innings weapon for the Bucs.

The Pirates are believe to be trying to sign reliever Brendan Donnelly, according to Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Donnelly, who posted a 1.78 ERA in 25.1 innings with the Marlins last year, would be a big boost to a dreadful Pirates bullpen, though he has long been an injury question mark. Expect a deal to be announced sometime in the next few days.

Brendan Donnelly has been activated from the 15-day DL following his recovery from a strained right calf, according to TSN.

Our View: The 38-year-old reliever holds a 2.04 ERA with 16 strikeouts over 17.2 innings this season. He is worth holding in NL-only leagues that feature middle men.

The Miami Herald is reporting that the Florida Marlins have signed free agent pitcher Brendan Donnelly and placed him on their 25-man roster. In a corresponding move, the team placed Chris Leroux on the 15-day DL.

Our View: Donnelly has been all over during his career, and now he joins his tenth team. He should not be considered for fantasy duty, as he last pitched in the majors last season with the Indians.

The Astros have signed Brendan Donnelly and assigned him to Triple-A Round Rock.

Our View: The 37-year-old vet was released by the Rangers a month ago after allowing 13 earned runs and 10 walks over 13.2 innings. He holds no fantasy value.

Reliever Brendan Donnelly has been released by the Texas Rangers, according to TexasRangers.com.

Our View: Donnelly had a 7.50 ERA over 6.0 innings, allowing a ghastly 13 hits over that time. The right-hander has thrown just 34.1 innings since the 2006 season, as he had Tommy John surgery in 2007.
Brendan Donnelly, P, Pittsburgh PiratesSaturday 2/7, 7:36 PM CT
The Denver Post reports that the Rangers have signed Brendan Donnelly to a minor-league contract worth $950,000.

Our View: The 37-year-old has been a reliable reliever for most of his career, but the wheels fell off last season as he was returning from Tommy John surgery with the Indians. In 15 appearances, he posted an 8.56 ERA. Over his career, he has a 3.12 ERA. Assuming he is healthy, he should see plenty of middle-relief action for the Rangers.

Brendan Donnelly has been called up from Triple-A Buffalo, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. Matt Ginter has been placed on the 15-day DL as the adjoining move.

Our View: Donnelly is trying to bounce back from Tommy John surgery, and is worth a look in deeper AL-only leagues that use middle men, as he racked up 15 strikeouts over 20.2 innings in 2007, with a 1.16 WHIP.
Brendan Donnelly, P, Pittsburgh PiratesWednesday 8/6, 8:04 PM CT
The Indians are expected to recall Brendan Donnelly from Triple-A Buffalo Friday. He is working his way back from Tommy John surgery.

Brendan Donnelly, P, Pittsburgh PiratesTuesday 8/5, 9:46 AM CT
Making his way back from Tommy John surgery, Brendan Donnelly has a 1.80 ERA and five strikeouts in five innings at Triple-A.

Our View: If Donnelly keeps this up he should regain his spot in the Cleveland bullpen sooner than later.
