Jose Molina, C, New York YankeesThursday 10/29, 2:58 PM CT
Jose Molina will be behind the plate in Game 2 of the World Series on Thursday. Molina will catch AJ Burnett, as he has done throughout the postseason.

Our View: Burnett needs to deliver a win for the Yanks tonight, so the team wants him to be comfortable with his battery mate. Molina takes over for Jorge Posada as the backstop, so he has big shoes to fill.

MLB.com reports that catcher Jose Molina will get the start behind the plate for Game 2 of the ALCS.

Our View: A.J. Burnett will be on the mound and he has been partial to Molina this season. The same situation occurred in the ALDS against the Twins, and Jorge Posada was more that a little put off. Looks like Burnett is specifically requesting Molina. No word on Posada's feelings this time around.

According to the Journal News, Yankees' catcher Jose Molina went 0-for-2 with an RBI in his frst rehab game in Triple-A Scranton. Molina caught five innings, and he is scheduled to play five again in his next game.

Our View: The Yankees believe that Molina may be ready to rejoin the team as early as next Tuesday, but it will depend on how his rehab goes. Even if he can't come back Tuesday, he should be back by the end of the week. He will still have no fantasy value, as he will struggle for playing time.
Jose Molina, C, New York YankeesThursday 7/2, 9:40 AM CT
The Journal News reports that Jose Molina will begin a rehab assignment on Friday.

Our View: Molina has been out since May 8th with a torn left quad and will likely need several rehab games before he's ready to return to backup catching duties for the Yankees. Expect him back some time in the next two weeks.
Jose Molina, C, New York YankeesMonday 6/29, 12:12 PM CT
According to the Journal News, Yankees' catcher Jose Molina was on the field four hours before the game on Sunday doing baserunning and throwing drills to test out his sore quad. Molina is expected to repeat those drills on Monday, and the team will decide then if he is ready for a rehab assignment.

Our View: You may be thinking that four hours seems pretty excessive for baserunning and throwing drills, but you have to remember that it probably took Molina at least an hour to actually make one lap around the bases. He looks to be feeling better, so expect his rehab assignment to begin some time in the next week or so.

Updating an earlier report, Jose Molina has been placed on the 15-day DL with his strained left quad, according to MLB.com. The club recalled catcher Kevin Cash from Triple-A as the adjoining move.

Our View: This is a tough loss for the 13-15 Yankees, as they already have catcher Jorge Posada on the DL. Kevin Cash and Francisco Cervelli will handle the role behind the plate. GM Brian Cashman is hoping Molina can return in two weeks.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi has told reporters that he intends to split the work load at catcher from here on out, looking to give both Jose Molina and Chad Moeller time behind the plate, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Molina (.227 batting average, 11 RBIs) has made 52 starts this year, and he leads the Majors with a 48.1 caught stealing percentage. Moeller has started 18 games and caught starting pitcher Darrell Rasner against Minnesota on Tuesday. The decision to start either one will be "day by day," Girardi said, and Molina will probably catch Mike Mussina on Wednesday, like he typically does.

He sustained the injury in the fourth inning but fought it off and stayed in the game, until he was later replaced by a pinch-runner. Jorge Posada continued to nurse his shoulder strain, but he stepped in at catcher in the ninth inning. The team considered using Morgan Ensberg at catcher, but Manager Girardi noted, "It wouldn't be fair as he hasn't caught in like 15 years." The severity of the ailment is yet to be decided. Posada plans to try to throw today, but does not expect to be able to catch just yet. Soon, he hopes, but not likely the first game in Tampa.

Our View: We will keep you posted on the catching situation in NY.
