Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsSunday 9/27, 12:08 AM CT
Jason LaRue was the unlikely hero for the Cardinals on Saturday night as they downed the Rockies 6-3 to clinch the Central Division Championship. He cracked the game-winning homer in seventh inning to put the Birds on top for good.

Our View: LaRue was only in the game due to an injury to starting catcher Yadier Molina that forced him to an early exit. The backup made the most of his time though, by ripping just his second homer of the season. The champagne has to taste sweet to LaRue tonight.
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsThursday 5/7, 3:35 PM CT
Jason LaRue went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Pirates at Busch Stadium. His other hit was a double.

Our View: LaRue collected his first homer of the season, and has seven hits over 16 at-bats (.437). He has been a solid backup catcher, but will not hold much fantasy value as long as starter Yadier Molina remains intact.
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsFriday 10/31, 4:40 PM CT
The Cardinals have re-signed veteran catcher Jason LaRue to a one-year deal, according to TSN.

Our View: The Cardinals have an excellent catcher in Triple A (Brian Anderson) but it appears he will remain there next season, unless Yadier Molina is unfortunately injured. He hit .213 in 61 games with four home runs and 21 RBI in 2008.
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsSunday 6/29, 5:45 PM CT
Jason LaRue was an unlikely hero in Sunday's 9-6 win over the Royals. The catcher went 2-for-4 with a triple, homer, and four RBI.

Our View: LaRue is having a solid little run while filling in for Yadier Molina. We don't expect this veteran backstop to keep it up, but NL-only fantasy owners who plugged him in should be very pleased.
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsWednesday 6/11, 8:58 PM CT
Jason LaRue hit his first home run of the year on Wednesday as he went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI for the Cardinals against his former team, the Reds.

Our View: LaRue is hitting less than his weight (.196) and serves basically as a day off caddy for Yadier Molina. Don't expect this nice outing to lead to any more work than he has been getting.
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsMonday 5/12, 9:27 AM CT
Jason LaRue was removed from Sunday action after his left knee became twisted on a play at the plate in the eighth inning against Milwaukee, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. LaRue struggled to get to his feet before getting help from trainer Barry Weinberg. LaRue finished the inning but was lifted for pinch-hitter Aaron Miles in the ninth.

Our View: LaRue underwent surgery on his right knee in March 2006. He stated after the game that he was only shaken and not injured. He made his ninth start of the season on Sunday, but is only hitting .091 over 33 at-bats this season, with no homers or RBI.
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsTuesday 4/22, 12:29 PM CT
Jason LaRue is the starting catcher for the Cardinals on Tuesday, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. The team is facing lefty Manny Parra of Milwaukee.

Our View: LaRue is not worth fantasy consideration today as he is only 1-for-15 in limited action this season.
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsThursday 4/3, 12:56 PM CT
Jason LaRue has been handed the start at catcher for the Cardinals today. Regular starter Yadier Molina notably suffered through a poor spring training and is only hitting 2-for-8 so far in the regular season. This could develop into a platoon this season.
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsMonday 11/19, 3:37 PM CT
The Cardinals agreed to terms with Jason LaRue on a one-year deal Monday, according to SportsTicker. LaRue, who hit just .148 in 169 at-bats in 2007, will back up Yadier Molina behind the plate in St. Louis.
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsSunday 8/12, 6:03 AM CT
Jason LaRue is 1-for-31 since a three-hit game on July 3, the AP reports. He's batting just .155 this season.
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsFriday 6/1, 9:40 AM CT
Jason LaRue has landed on the Cardinals radar as a possible replacement for injured catcher Yadier Molina, reports the Kansas City Star. The main hurdle to such a deal would be that the Cards would have to take on about $1.65 million of LaRue’s salary, and that Larue is batting just .113 in 21 games this season.
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsSunday 5/27, 2:33 AM CT
Jason LaRue was activated from the disabled list Saturday and went 0-for-3 against the Mariners. LaRue, who's coming back from a bruised collarbone, is now 5-for-51 on the season.
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsSaturday 5/26, 9:42 AM CT
The Royals could activate Jason LaRue from the disabled list as soon as Sunday, according to the KC Star. He's been out with a bruised left collarbone and should see less action than he did before sustaining the injury, as John Buck has been playing well in his absence.

The Royals sent catcher Jason LaRue to Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment. LaRue has been on the disabled list since May 11 with a bruised left collarbone, according to the AP.

Jason LaRue is scheduled to start his rehab assignment Tuesday. LaRue, who is coming back from a left shoulder contusion, said he will be ready to return when eligible on Saturday, according to the Kansas City Star. "Oh, I'm going to be ready when the 15 days are up," he said. "No question there."
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsFriday 5/11, 9:52 PM CT
The Royals placed Jason LaRue on the 15-day disabled list on Friday with a left shoulder contusion, according to the AP. He injured his shoulder in the second inning of Thursday's 17-3 loss to Oakland. Royals manager Buddy Bell said LaRue could be ready to return in 10 days.
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsThursday 5/10, 8:54 PM CT
Jason LaRue was hit by a pitch while catching during Thursday's game, according to the AP. He was slated to undergo an MRI on the joint to determine the extent of the damage, but initial reports didn't sound promising. "It doesn't look very good," Royals manager Buddy Bell.
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsWednesday 4/25, 10:14 PM CT
Jason LaRue went 0-for-4 with a strikeout Wednesday and is now hitting .121 on the season. Buddy Bell has been very patient with LaRue, but it's hard to imagine how the Royals can keep from making John Buck the primary catcher going forward, based on how he's been hitting and how LaRue hasn't been.
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsFriday 4/20, 8:44 AM CT
Jason LaRue will stay in a platoon with John Buck for now, despite the fact that Buck is hitting and LaRue isn't, the Kansas City Star reports. Buck is at .440 with three homers so far, while LaRue is hitting .154. "Their primary job is the way they handle pitchers," manager Buddy Bell said. "Both of them are doing a good job there. That's my first consideration. Some guys really like throwing to Jason, and some guys really like throwing to John. But offense is also a consideration. I think Jason is starting to swing the bat a little better, and Johnny has swung the bat well all year. I think we've got a pretty good situation."
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsWednesday 3/28, 9:05 AM CT
Jason LaRue will share the Royals catching job with John Buck to begin the year, as there's been no clear winner in spring training, the Kansas City Star reports. "Dead heat," manager Buddy Bell said. LaRue is hitting .355 with three home runs this spring, while Buck is at .310 with a homer.
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsTuesday 11/21, 11:38 AM CT
Royals GM Dayton Moore stated that Jason LaRue and John Buck will battle for the starting catching job in spring training, according to the Kansas City Star. Kansas City acquired LaRue on Monday in exchange for a player to be named. The Royals are picking up roughly $2.5 million of LaRue’s $5.45 million salary for 2006.
Jason LaRue, C, St. Louis CardinalsMonday 11/20, 4:01 PM CT
The Royals acquired Jason LaRue from the Reds Monday in exchange for a player to be named. LaRue missed the first few weeks of the 2006 season after undergoing offseason knee surgery. He ended up hitting just .194 with eight homers and 21 RBI in only 72 games. LaRue will compete with John Buck for playing time.
