Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysTuesday 11/3, 3:33 PM CT
The Reds may be interested in free agent to be Marco Scutaro, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.

Our View: The 34-year-old Scutaro is coming off a career season, batting .282 with 12 home runs, 60 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 2009 for Toronto. He would be an ideal temporary solution at shortstop for many teams, not just the Reds.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysWednesday 9/30, 8:25 AM CT
According to the Toronto Sun, Blue Jays' infielder Marco Scutaro took batting practice on Tuesday and would like to return to the lineup before the end of the season. Scutaro has been out with a torn plantar fascia in his right heel.

Our View: Manager Cito Gaston didn't sound optimistic about Scuatao playing again this season, but he apparently looked pretty good during his batting practice session. Don't rely on him making a comeback this season, but there is a chance he comes back for the final few games.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysTuesday 9/22, 8:38 AM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Blue Jays' shortstop Marco Scutaro wants to return to the team this season despite a heel injury. Manager Cito Gaston acknowledged that Scutaro is likely done for the year, but Scutaro says he will play as soon as he is able.

Our View: Scutaro wants to play, but the problem is that he isn't able to do so, and likely won't be able to do so for the rest of the season. The heel isn't improving much, so don't expect to see him again in 2009.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysMonday 9/21, 7:09 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, Marco Scutaro is likely finished for 2009 due to his heel injury, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: His MRI revealed a tear in his plantar fascia. The 33-year-old vet has been hindered by pain in his heel since July.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysMonday 9/21, 8:27 AM CT
Marco Scutaro is set to undergo an MRI on his ailing right heel on Monday, according to the Toronto Star.

Our View: Plantar fasciitis, an injury that has dogged Albert Pujols in the past, has nagged him since July, and a flare up of it on Sunday could cause him to miss the final two weeks of the regular season. Scutaro is having a career year at the age of 33 in 2009, setting or trying career highs in average, hits, runs, doubles, RBI, home runs, walks, on-base percentage and stolen bases.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysFriday 9/11, 10:05 AM CT
The Blue Jays will likely let probable type-A free agent Marco Scutaro walk this offseason, according to the Toronto Sun.

Our View: Of course, they would first have to offer Scutaro arbitration to get the compensatory draft picks they are in line for should he sign somewhere else. Even though he has batted .282 with 11 home runs and 57 RBI this season, the soon to be 34 year old is no sure thing to get a multi-year contract offer this offseason.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysFriday 8/28, 7:47 PM CT
Blue Jays shortstop Marco Scutaro was hit in the head with a pitch from Josh Beckett on Friday night and was forced to leave the game.

Our View: No word on how serious the injury is, but the rash of head-beanings this season haven't been kind to the victims. Scutaro was on the ground for several minutes after being hit. John MacDonald took over at short. Stay tuned.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysSunday 8/16, 5:05 PM CT
Marco Scutaro went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in the Blue Jay's 5-2 loss to the Rays on Sunday.

Our View: Scutaro now has his average up to an even .300 on the season and the career .267 hitter continues to surprise. His 11 homers this season are a career high as well.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysSunday 8/9, 3:11 PM CT
Marco Scutaro's big day helped Roy Hallady and the Blue Jays beat the Orioles 7-3 at home. The diminutive shortstop was 4-for-5 with a home run and two RBI.

Our View: Scutaro has been heating up again recently, and now has three multi-hit games in six August contests. His average is back at .300 for the first time since June 21.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysSunday 7/12, 4:51 PM CT
Marco Scutaro went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in Toronto's 4-2 loss to the Orioles on Sunday.

Our View: Scutaro has been one of the biggest fantasy surprises this season. He's also bee red hot in July. The Jays' shortstop is hitting .357 in July and already has six multi-hit games this month.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 7/9, 9:48 AM CT
According to the Twitter page of Blue Jays' beat writer Jordan Bastian, infielder Marco Scutaro is not in the team's lineup for Thursday afternoon. Scutaro will be replaced by John McDonald at shortstop.

Our View: Just a day off for Scutaro today, so fantasy owners shouldn't worry too much about it. He will be back tomorrow, so if you take him out today, make sure he gets back in.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysSaturday 5/16, 3:43 PM CT
Marco Scutaro banged out three hits in four at-bats on Saturday as the Blue Jays topped the White Sox 2-1.

Our View: Scutaro has been one of many surprising Blue Jays this season. he doubled twice on Saturday to give him nine on the season. That's a nice compliment to his five homers, 19 RBI and .285 average. We expect the career .261 light-hitting shortstop to come back down to Earth soon.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 4/30, 5:10 PM CT
Marco Scutaro 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Thursday's 8-6 loss to the Royals.

Our View: Prior to last night's double, Scutaro had gone 10 games without an extra base hit. Today's dinger gives him five on the season, but expect the leadoff hitter's pace to slow as the season moves along.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysFriday 4/17, 9:38 PM CT
Marco Scutaro went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs in Friday's loss to the A's. He is up to four home runs on the season. Scutaro, 33, has never hit more than nine in any major league season.

Our View: What in the name of Bret Boone is going on here? Fantasy owners can continue to use Scutaro while he's hot, but history suggests he'll cool off tremendously before too much longer.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 4/16, 10:56 PM CT
Marco Scutaro went 2-for-5 with two RBI, two runs and his third home run of the year against Minnesota on Thursday.

Our View: Scutaro has gotten off to a great start batting leadoff for the surprising Blue Jays and deserves a heavy look if he happens to be available in your league, especially given his great fantasy versatility with eligibility at third base and both middle infield spots.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysMonday 4/13, 7:29 PM CT
The Globe and Mail reports that Marco Scutaro is considered the everyday shortstop and leadoff hitter by Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston.

Our View: Scutaro is off to a hot start this season with 10 runs scored through seven games. He is hitting .385 and has also drawn six walks against four strikeouts. He should be owned in most leagues.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysMonday 4/6, 11:44 PM CT
Marco Scutaro hit leadoff for the Blue Jays on Monday as the Blue Jays defeated the Tigers 12-5. He was 1-for-4 with a triple, a walk, and two runs scored while starting at shortstop.

Our View: Scutaro is not an attractive fantasy option by most accounts, but he's hitting in a favorable spot and has multi-position eligibility. He provides a nice fill-in option when your other infielders are facing off days or injury concerns.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 2/26, 3:01 PM CT
Marco Scutaro went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Phillies.

Our View: Scutaro is competing with John McDonald for the starting gig at shortstop, and will need to play better if he expects to win the job.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 9/11, 10:41 PM CT
Marco Scutaro had a three hit night against the White Sox on Thursday while he also knocked in his 53rd run of the year for the Jays.

Our View: Scutaro has been a great spare part this year with his ability to qualify at multiple positions in the field (2B/3B/SS). His bat isn't great as he's hitting just .269 with an OPS of just barely above .700, but his flexibility certainly gives him value in deep leagues.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysThursday 8/21, 9:58 PM CT
Marco Scutaro matched career highs with four hits and four RBIs in Toronto's thrashing of the Yankees 14-3 on Thursday night.

Our View: Toronto had 21 hits in all Thursday night, one shy of a club high this season. One of Scutaro's four hits was his fifth home run of the season.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysSunday 7/20, 4:57 PM CT
The Jays needed all of the offense they could muster today with a total of seven pitchers hitting the mound, but the troops in the batting order made good to get Toronto the 9-4 win over Tampa Bay. Second baseman Marco Scutaro was one of the top soldiers for the cause, going 1-for-4 with one walk and his fourth homer of the season to drive in three, adding two runs scored to the stat line along the way.

Our View: Scutaro hasn't been too helpful for fantay owners this season, hitting just .269 through July with a disappointing .333 OBP. Today he made one good swing of the bat, and you know that's nothing to get too excited about.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysWednesday 5/28, 7:43 AM CT
Marco Scutaro started in left field for the Jays on Tuesday night. It was his third appearance of the year at that spot. Scutaro had been playing shortstop, but starter David Eckstein came off the DL on Tuesday. The utility man went 1-for-4 in the loss to the A's.

Our View: Outfield is not totally foreign to Scutaro. He played a career-high 10 games between left and right field in 2007. Marco isn't useful outside AL-only leagues, but it's always amazing how this guy tends to find at-bats year after year.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysSaturday 5/10, 9:14 PM CT
The Toronto Blue Jays posted nine hits against the Cleveland Indians this evening, but not one resulted in a run scored as the Jays fall hard, 12-0. SS Marco Scutaro went 2-for-4 at the plate and was the only Jay to post an extra-base hit, picking up his second double of the season.

Our View: Scutaro is now on a role, going 8-for-17 over his last four games.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysWednesday 5/7, 9:12 PM CT
Marco Scutaro, starting at shortstop with David Eckstein and John McDonald injured, went 3-for-4 with two RBI for the Jays.

Our View: Scutaro is still best left as a AL Only player, but these extra few AB he is in line to pick up will certainly give his owners the warm and fuzzies.

Marco Scutaro was hit on the hand by a pitch in the ninth inning against the Yankees on Wednesday, according to the Toronto Star. Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysSunday 3/23, 8:21 PM CT
Marco Scutaro, who is expected to be the opening day third baseman for the Jays now that Scott Rolen (finger) is like headed to the disabled list, hit a two-run home run on Sunday. Scutaro will see time at second base, third base, and in the outfield this year and with his likely start on opening day, he becomes fantasy-friendly as a corner or middle infielder in AL-only formats.

Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysTuesday 8/28, 10:42 AM CT
Marco Scutaro, who has been dealing with dizziness over the last several days, was supposed to undergo an MRI yesterday, but he declined to have the exam because he felt claustrophobic in the tube, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. He was in the lineup last night, going 0-for-6 with eight men left on base. If he experiences further dizziness, the A's might try an MRI again.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysSunday 8/26, 7:46 AM CT
Marco Scutaro was forced to exit Saturday's game at the top of the fourth inning. He was experiencing side effects from medicine he's been taking to combat dizziness that's bothered him for several days, according to the Contra Costa Times. "It's weird," he said after the game. "I don't know how to explain it. It feels like I'm here but I'm not. It looks like everything is in slow motion. I'm going to get checked out (by a doctor in the Bay Area) Monday." We'll let you know the results of his examination once the information becomes available, but it sounds like he may rest on Sunday.
Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysFriday 8/4, 5:02 PM CT
Marco Scutaro should continue to start at shortstop for the A's for a while now that Bobby Crosby is back on the disabled list. Scutaro started the last few games while Crosby was out. He's hitting just .228 this season with three homers and one steal in 197 at-bats.

Marco Scutaro, SS, Toronto Blue JaysWednesday 5/31, 9:22 PM CT
Marco Scutaro will take over at second base for the A's while Mark Ellis is out with a broken thumb, according to the AP. Scutaro played well while filling in for Bobby Crosby at shortstop last year, and the A's already have Antonio Perez as a backup infielder, so they may bring up a player at a different position to fill Ellis' roster spot.
