Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 12/9, 11:47 AM CT
Randy Wolf has signed a three-year deal with the Brewers, according to Fox Sports. The deal is thought to be worth just slightly under $30 million.

Our View: At 33 years of age, the 11-year veteran lefty was able to post the best season of his career with the Dodgers last year, going 11-7 over 34 starts with a 3.23 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. He won't have the luxury of such a spacious ball park in Milwaukee as he had in Los Angeles, but he's still a fine addition to the Brewers' staff who should be considered as a relatively safe late-round pick in all fantasy drafts.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 12/8, 11:58 PM CT
According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, the Brewers have offered free agent left-hander Randy Wolf a three-year $27 million contract.

Our View: Wolf has a lot of pursuers this offseason, but none have been as adamant as the Brewers. They're hoping for a response tomorrow, but it wouldn't be surprising if the lefty decided to see what else is on the table. Perhaps from a contending club. The Mets have recently gotten involved.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 12/8, 9:38 AM CT
The Mets are making a late push for free agent Randy Wolf, whom the Brewers have also been heavily pursuing the past few days, according to Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman.

Our View: The Mets are apparently offering two years for the 33-year-old lefty, while Milwaukee has reportedly offered three, although the money specifics of either potential deal have yet to surface. It looks like Wolf is close to signing and that one of these two teams will own the rights to him by the next day or two.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 12/7, 10:53 PM CT
Updating an earlier item, the Brewers are on the "verge" of signing left-handed starter Randy Wolf to a three-year contract, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

Our View: Money specifics are not yet available, but it would be a great get for a team looking to overhaul its starting rotation. Stay tuned for official word.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 12/7, 7:54 PM CT
Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel thinks the Brewers like their chances of landing free agent pitcher Randy Wolf.

Our View: The Brewers' number one offseason priority is shoring up a dreadful starting rotation, and Wolf would go a long way towards doing that. While he has been injury prone throughout his career, he stayed healthy for L.A. in 2009 and had a great season, going 11-7 with a 3.23 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 214.1 innings pitched.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 12/2, 1:13 PM CT
The Astros are unlikely to chase hurler Randy Wolf, according to MLBblogs.com.

Our View: GM Ed Wade would like to bring Wolf back to Houston, but believes he will be out of their price range following a solid 2009 campaign. He previously pitched for the Astros during part of the 2008 season.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 10/21, 5:24 PM CT
The official Twitter page of the Los Angeles Dodgers is reporting that pitcher Randy Wolf wll start Game 7 if necessary against the Phillies. Wolf pitched to a no-decision in Game 4 of the series.

Our View: The Dodgers are down 3-1 in the series, so it will take a remarkable comeback to even get to Game 7. If they do make it, Wolf will take the ball in the deciding game. He hasn't been great this postseason, but he is a veteran who can handle the pressure.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 10/19, 11:18 PM CT
Randy Wolf was much better on Monday that he was in his NLDS start, but it didn't matter as the Dodgers couldn't hold the lead and fell to the Phillies 5-4. Wolf went 5.1 innings and allowed three runs on four hits while walking two and striking out two.

Our View: Wolf was better tonight, but he was far from dominant yet again. The Dodgers are now down 3-1 in the series, so it seems very likely that we have seen the last of Wolf this season.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 10/8, 12:35 AM CT
Randy Wolf wasn't effective on Wednesday, but he found a way to work out of jams in the Dodgers 5-3 win over the Cardinals in the NLDS opener.

Our View: Wolf allowed two runs on six hits and five walks over just 3.2 innings, but the Cardinals weren't able to capitalize on his lack of control. The Dodgers were clearly hoping for a better outing, but the bullpen stepped up and bailed out Wolf. He exited with two on in the fourth inning and a 3-2 score, but Jeff Weaver got the all-important third out to end the threat.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 9/26, 9:37 PM CT
Randy Wolf had a quality outing on Saturday against the Pirates, but failed to get the win. He allowed just two runs on four hits and a walk over 6.1 innings and fanned five in the 8-4 win.

Our View: The Dodger lefty has been very good this season, and has recorded nine quality starts in a row and won his last six consecutive decisions.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 9/20, 7:27 PM CT
Randy Wolf stayed hot on Sunday as the Dodgers beat the Giants by a score of 6-2. Wolf went six innings and allowed two runs on five hits while walking two and striking out three.

Our View: Wolf continues to pitch well for the Dodgers, and he might be the best starting pitcher on the staff at this point in the season. With Chad Billingsley struggling, the Dodgers need Wolf to step up even more than they did originally.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 9/13, 7:50 AM CT
According to the Chicago Tribune, Dodgers' starter Randy Wolf received a cortisone shot in his injured elbow. Wolf was scratched from his last start after injuring himself hitting.

Our View: Wolf has been the Dodgers' most consistent pitcher as of late, so hopefully the cortisone shot did its job. He isn't expected to miss another start, but stay tuned just in case.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 9/9, 7:58 PM CT
Randy Wolf has been scratched from his scheduled Friday start with an "irritated elbow," according to the Los Angeles Times.

Our View: Hiroki Kuroda will take his place. Wolf had gotten the win in his of his last six outings. He believes he hurt the elbow batting, and the team expects him to miss just one start.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 8/26, 10:30 PM CT
Randy Wolf made quick work of the surging Rockies on Wednesday night, limiting them to just one run in 7.1 innings, as L.A. won 6-1 in Denver.

Our View: After pitching seven innings or more just four times in his first 23 starts of the season, Wolf has now gone at least seven five starts in a row, winning four games after taking a maddening amount of no-decisions (13 in his first 24 starts) for much of 2009.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 8/22, 12:48 AM CT
Randy Wolf held the Cubs to one run on one hit and a pair of walks over seven innings on Friday. He fanned five and improved to 8-6 on the season with the 2-1 win. He also went 1-for-1 at the plate and drove in both Dodger runs.

Our View: Wolf has now won three consecutive starts and has allowed just five runs over 22.2 innings during that stretch. He's a solid starting option in all formats.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 8/16, 8:46 PM CT
Randy Wolf held the Diamondbacks to three runs on five hits over 7.2 innings Sunday. He fanned ten and earned his seventh win of the season with the 9-3 victory.

Our View: Wolf has been great for the Dodgers this season and now has nine quality starts in his last ten outings. The ten strikeouts was a season high.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 8/12, 12:18 AM CT
Randy Wolf went eight innings for the first time all season on Tuesday, as the Dodgers dominated the Giants 9-1 in San Francisco.

Our View: It's truly embarrassing that it took almost five entire months for Wolf to finally go eight innings. That, and not a lack of run support, is the real reason he has just six wins for the first place Dodgers this season.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 8/7, 12:38 AM CT
Randy Wolf pitched seven blah innings on Thursday, allowing four runs on nine hits and and three walks, but didn't take the loss thanks to Andre Ethier's walk-off homer.

Our View: Wolf has now won just twice since May 28. He usually pitches well, but doesn't go deep enough into games to get the win. His 1.20 WHIP and 3.55 ERA should soften that blow, however.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 8/1, 6:05 PM CT
Randy Wolf was tagged for four earned runs on nine hits over six innings in Saturday's 4-3 loss at Atlanta. He had two walks and seven strikeouts.

Our View: Wolf now has a losing record at 5-6, but at least he provided fantasy owners with seven K's. He has now taken a loss in two straight starts.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 7/27, 10:03 PM CT
Randy Wolf allowed two earned runs on seven hits over six innings in Monday's 6-1 loss at St. Louis. He had two walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: Wolf pitched well, but was unfortunately dealt a loss due to poor run support. He is 5-5 for the season, despite a pretty good 3.43 ERA.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 7/22, 12:19 AM CT
Randy Wolf breezed through 7.1 innings against the Reds on Tuesday night for his fifth win of the season.

Our View: He pitched most of the game with an eight run lead, but it was nice to see him stay focused and not allow the Reds even an inch. He hasn't been winning many games for the first place Dodgers, but he's been doing everything else.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 7/17, 12:33 AM CT
Randy Wolf allowed just three runs in six innings on Thursday, but took the loss as the Dodgers got shutout 3-0 by Houston at home.

Our View: Wolf has pitched at a very high level in 2009, posting a 3.51 ERA in 120.1 innings, but could be due for a regression to the mean soon. Including this season, the 11-year vet has a career 4.20 ERA. Even at that level, though, he would be a great fantasy option still.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 7/9, 9:46 PM CT
Randy Wolf only allowed two earned runs on seven hits over 6.1 innings in Thursday's 11-2 win at the Mets. He had two walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: Wolf now has a winning record at 4-3, and snapped a seven-game drought without earning a win. He has allowed two or less earned runs in each of his last three starts, and the veteran lefty is worthy penciling into fantasy lineups for his next trip to the hill.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 7/4, 6:35 PM CT
Randy Wolf struck out eight in six effective innings of work on Saturday, but took a no-decision as the Dodgers lost 7-4 to the Padres in San Diego.

Our View: Wolf lowered his ERA to 3.49, and his WHIP to 1.15, in the process. Despite only having three wins in 2009, he is worthy of a roster spot in every format.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 6/30, 1:28 AM CT
Randy Wolf only allowed two earned runs on four hits over six innings in Monday's 4-2 win over the Rockies at Dodger Stadium. He had one walk and four strikeouts.

Our View: Wolf pitched well tonight, but was forced to take a no-decision rather than a win as the game took 13 innings to decide. He is winless over his last six starts, and allowed five or more earned runs three times over the span.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 6/24, 10:54 PM CT
Randy Wolf was rocked for five earned runs on seven hits over a mere 3.1 innings of work in Wednesday's 10-7 loss at the White Sox. He had two walks and one strikeout, and gave up three homers.

Our View: The lefty is now 3-3 following tonight's tough loss. He remains winless over five starts this month as well.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 6/18, 11:58 PM CT
Randy Wolf pitched six innings of one run ball on Thursday, but came out of the game before he could get the win. The Dodgers beat the A's 3-2 in L.A.

Our View: Wolf has only three wins in 2009 because of his tendency to not go very deep into games, but he has still been a solid pickup for the Dodgers. He is sporting a 3.29 ERA and very solid 1.15 WHIP in 93 innings of work.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 6/13, 11:21 PM CT
Randy Wolf only allowed two hits over five scoreless innings in Saturday's 3-1 win at Texas. He had one walk with four strikeouts.

Our View: Wolf exited the game tied at zero, so he took a no-decision rather than a win in his solid outing. He seems to be back on track after giving up 11 earned runs over his previous two starts.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 6/7, 11:03 PM CT
Randy Wolf got lit up by a powerful Phillies' lineup on Sunday night. He allowed six runs on eight hits and a walk over 6.1 innings and was victimized by two home runs.

Our View: Wolf has been very good this season despite his terrible outing on Sunday. His ERA is still a very respectable 3.62 and he looks to be having his best season since 2002. June has been rough for him though after putting up a 2.35 ERA in May.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 6/3, 12:11 AM CT
Randy Wolf was rocked for five earned runs on seven hits over six innings in Tuesday's 6-5 win over Arizona at Dodger Stadium. He had two walks and one strikeout.

Our View: It was a poor outing for Wolf, and he is lucky he ended the night with a no-decision rather than a loss. He remains 3-1 over 12 starts, with a 3.21 ERA.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 5/28, 10:02 PM CT
Randy Wolf put together another very impressive start on Thursday as the Dodgers beat the Cubs 2-1. Wolf went seven innings and allowed one run on six hits while walking one and striking out seven.

Our View: Wolf has been very impressive over his last six starts, and he has established himself as a quality fantasy pitcher. His ERA is down to 2.84, and his seven strikeouts tonight were decently high for him. He should be owned in all leagues at this point.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 5/19, 12:57 AM CT
Randy Wolf looked sharp in 7.2 innings of work against the Mets on Monday, but he did not factor into the decision. He scattered six hits and two walks, while allowing two earned runs and striking out two batters before the Dodgers eventually escaped with a 3-2 win in the 11th inning.

Our View: Wolf has allowed just five runs over his last five starts. His two strike outs tonight were a season low, and he carries a respectable 46 whiffs through 56.1 innings of work. He's not likely available in most leagues, but if he is, you should have picked him up before you got to this period.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 5/13, 9:44 PM CT
Randy Wolf was impressive again on Wednesday. He allowed just one run on three hits and three walks over six inning while striking out eight in the Dodgers' convincing 9-2 win over the Phillies.

Our View: Wolf is now 2-1 on the season with a 2.77 ERA in eight starts and has been surprisingly strong this season. If he can stay healthy he can be effective, but he has yet to pitch 120 innings in a season since 2003.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 5/8, 12:58 AM CT
Randy Wolf was very good on Thursday, but his bullpen couldn't deliver him a win in the Dodgers' 11-9 loss to the Nationals. Wolf went six innings and allowed one run on five hits while walking two and striking out five.

Our View: Wolf pitched well enough to win tonight, but his bullpen absolutely imploded on him. Wolf has been pretty good so far this season, and pitching for this Dodgers' team should net him a decent amount of wins.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 4/18, 12:34 AM CT
Pitcher Randy Wolf allowed three first-inning runs to the Rockies on Friday night, but he then settled down and finished with nine strikeouts over six innings. The lefty earned a no-decision and served up only those three runs. He also gave up four hits and walked two.

Our View: Wolf tends to pull out a high-strikeout game every once in a while, and we urge fantasy owners not to chase this outing. He is worth using in NL-only formats but that's about it.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 4/12, 6:53 PM CT
Randy Wolf notched his first victory of the season as the Dodgers beat the Diamondbacks 3-1 on Sunday. The left-hander gave up just one run on two hits and two walks against five strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Our View: Wolf is a middle of the road starter who is worth owning when riding a hot streak. It's too early to tell if one is about to develop. He is worth a look, if not already owned, in deep formats and NL-only leagues.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 4/8, 1:58 AM CT
Randy Wolf allowed four runs on six hits in five and one-third innings against the Padres Tuesday to take his first loss of the young season.

Our View: Wolf looked about the same as he has all spring: not too good, not too bad. His three strikeouts were tempered by three walks. He threw 87 pitches, which is high, and only 53 of them were strikes.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 4/3, 12:31 AM CT
Randy Wolf allowed an unearned run on four hits over three innings against the Angels on Thursday evening.

Our View: Wolf threw 51 pitches Thursday. He ends his spring with a record of 4-2 and ERA of 4.24 over seven outings.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 3/22, 11:49 PM CT
Randy Wolf looked very good over six shutout innings as the Dodgers defeated the Rangers 11-4 on Sunday. He allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out six.

Our View: Wolf hit a significant speed bump in his last outing against the Cubs, but otherwise he has had a tremendous spring. Last season was the first time in five seasons that he managed to make at least 30 starts, so beware the injury potential. Aside from a solid strikeout rate, Wolf does not excel in any particular category.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 3/17, 7:54 PM CT
Randy Wolf's marvelous spring has ended. He was tagged for seven runs on ten hits in just four innings Tuesday against the Cubs.

Our View: Wolf was cruising this spring until today, but was due to regress at some point. At this stage in his career he's simply an innings eater and shouldn't warrant a look other than in deep NL-only leagues.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 3/12, 9:19 PM CT
Randy Wolf shut out Team Korea on Thursday, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out four.

Our View: Wolf has looked excellent in a Dodgers uniform thus far, having failed to give up a run while allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out seven in 8.2 innings thus far. Still, keep in mind that he's 32 and hasn't posted a sub-4.00 ERA since 2002 or a sub-1.30 WHIP since 2003.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 3/6, 10:15 PM CT
Randy Wolf pitched three solid innings Friday, allowing no runs on one hit while striking out three.

Our View: The key for Wolf, as always, will be whether or not he can remain healthy. If he can, a reasonably productive fantasy season can be in the offing, though his injury risk certainly diminishes his draft day value.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 2/7, 1:09 AM CT
Randy Wolf finalized a one-year, $5 million deal with the Dodgers on Friday, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. He could earn up to another $3 million in incentives.

Our View: Wolf replace Derek Lowe in the Dodger's rotation, who left for Atlanta in this offseason. The defending National League West champs are likely finished tinkering with their roster unless they can bring back Manny Ramirez or add some more depth to their bullpen.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 2/6, 5:13 PM CT
The Dodgers are closing in on a deal with Randy Wolf, according to MLB.com. No terms of a contract have been disclosed as the Dodgers don't typically discuss contracts until they've become official.

Our View: Wolf would give the Dodgers a veteran presence in their rotation to replace Derek Lowe and Brad Penny, who both departed during this offseason. Wolf hasn't tossed 200-innings since 2003, though he did stay healthy long enough to throw 190.1 innings last season, the first time in four years that he eclipsed 105 innings in a campaign.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 2/3, 12:37 PM CT
Jayson Stark of ESPN.com reports that the Dodgers are close to offering free-agent pitcher Randy Wolf a one-year deal with an option, strikingly similar to the deal landed by new Diamondbacks pitcher Jon Garland.

Our View: Wolf was originally offered a three-year deal worth as much as $30 million by the Astros at the outset of the free agency period, but Houston withdrew the offer when the economy began its descent.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 2/2, 4:21 PM CT
FOX Sports reports that the Dodgers are making some progress with free-agent left-hander Randy Wolf.

Our View: With the Mets inking Oliver Perez, and the Diamondbacks signing Jon Garland recently, the number of suitors for Wolf continues to dwindle. The Dodgers are the heavy favorites to sign him at this point.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 1/28, 4:16 PM CT
SI.com reports that the Dodgers are heavy favorites to sign free-agent left-hander Randy Wolf, now that Arizona appears to be out of the race. The Diamondbacks recently added Jon Garland to their rotation.

Our View: Wolf went 9-6 over 18 starts with the Dodgers in the second half of last season. Although he had an ERA of 4.73 and a WHIP of 1.45, his 94 strikeouts over 102.2 innings provided some help to fantasy owners.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 1/28, 11:13 AM CT
The Cubs could consider Randy Wolf if trade talks regarding the Padres' Jake Peavy do not resume, according to ESPN Radio.

Our View: The Cubs notably tried to reel in Wolf in 2006 before he decided to sign a deal with the Dodgers. There is also a rumor circulating that the Cubs are considering acquiring Aaron Heilman from Seattle.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 1/25, 6:07 PM CT
Randy Wolf is in talks with the Mets, Dodgers, and other teams, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Our View: Wolf seems like he'll be able to get a two-year deal, but most teams have been reluctant to offer starters long contracts due to the current conditions of the economy.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 1/24, 12:05 PM CT
Lefty hurler Randy Wolf turned down a contract offer from the Arizona Diamondbacks that would have paid him around $13 million over the next two years, reports SI.com.

Our View: Wolf has been courted by a number of teams, but has yet to select one. He remains on the radar of many squads, but no signing seems imminent.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 1/23, 3:07 PM CT
The Dodgers are not close to inking Randy Wolf contrary to widespread speculation, according to the LA Daily News.

Our View: The Dodgers remain interested in Wolf, but both sides have not actually talked in almost a week. The Dodgers would like to reel in Wolf, Jon Garland or Braden Looper. They need to replace Derek Lowe and Brad Penny in the rotation.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 1/22, 5:47 PM CT
FOX Sports reports that the Dodgers are the leading contenders to sign left-hander Randy Wolf.

Our View: The Dodgers are still in need of a starter after losing Brad Penny and Derek Lowe to free agency. Wolf is a capable starter and his fantasy impact is fairly significant due to his 7.66 K/9 rate.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 1/19, 11:51 PM CT
The Arizona Republic reports that Randy Wolf rejected a contract offer from the Diamondbacks on Monday. Details of the contract were not released, but it is believed that the team has between $4 and $5 million dollars left to spend.

Our View: The left-hander should be able to command more than $5 million, but there are a whole lot of arms left on the market. Pitchers and catchers will be reporting to spring training in a month, so some veterans may find themselves feeling the pressure to sign for less than they would like.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 1/14, 4:29 PM CT
The Daily Herald reports that Randy Wolf remains a possibility for the Cubs as they look for a fifth starter.

Our View: The Cubs have other options (namely Chad Gaudin and Sean Marshall) but none that can be considered proven starters. Wolf will likely make a nice veteran addition to a staff in 2009 and he would be a luxury as a No. 5 starter.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 1/13, 7:54 AM CT
Randy Wolf is on the Mets' radar, but as a fall-back plan if the team is unable to reach an agreement with lefty Oliver Perez, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com.

Our View: Wolf has also been said to be a fall-back plan for the Dodgers. The lefty has always been an intriguing option for fantasy owners, though not an elite one. He will give you double-digit wins, and the strikeouts he accumulates are also a factor.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 1/9, 12:38 PM CT
Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated believes the Dodgers want to replace Brad Penny in the rotation with Randy Wolf.

Our View: If so, the Dodgers would be replacing a righty (Penny) with a lefty (Wolf).
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 1/6, 3:08 PM CT
Randy Wolf is on the Nationals' radar, according to the Hot Stove Blog on MLB.com.

Our View: The club is considering the lefty as a possible upgrade for their weak rotation. The Mets also like Wolf, and it is uncertain how much the Nationals are willing to spend to reel him in.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 12/29, 9:31 AM CT
The Mets are set to make offers to starting pitchers this week, with Randy Wolf among their targets, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Wolf is ranked third on the Mets' list behind Derek Lowe and Oliver Perez. They are expected to make offers to two, and likely three free agent pitchers, and are believed to be interested in inking one.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 12/19, 3:34 PM CT
Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated indicates that Randy Wolf is ranked third on the Mets' target list if they are unable to reel in Derek Lowe or Oliver Perez.

Our View: Wolf commented that he would like to return to the Dodgers, but the club is yet to make him an offer or garner strong interest.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 12/19, 8:04 AM CT
Randy Wolf is seeking a three-year deal worth $30 million, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Our View: The Astros reportedly offered him between $22 million and $24 million before pulling their proposal off the table. The Mets are interested but are believed to have Derek Lowe higher on their list, namely due to his consistency.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 12/16, 7:45 AM CT
The Orioles are believed to be interested in hurler Randy Wolf, according to the Hot Stove Blog on MLB.com.

Our View: Wolf held a passable 1.38 WHIP over 190.1 innings in 2008, and the 32-year-old lefty would be a solid addition to an Orioles' rotation in grave need of help.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 12/15, 7:12 AM CT
The Mets are interested in bringing back Oliver Perez, but the NY Daily News states that Randy Wolf is a strong possibility.

Our View: The Mets like Wolf because he is a lefty and has fared well against the NL East, and GM Omar Minaya believes there is a 50/50 chance he will be able to re-sign Perez.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 12/10, 12:43 PM CT
The Brewers have had internal discussions regarding Randy Wolf, according to the Hot Stove Blog on MLB.com.

Our View: The Brewers lost CC Sabathia to the Yankees and aren't interested in offering Ben Sheets a multi-year deal, so the club will have two spots to fill in their rotation. Wolf is not a top-of-the-rotation starter and won't be a worthy replacement for either of the aforementioned players, but would be a favorable hurler as he held a passable 1.38 WHIP in 2008.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 12/9, 9:52 AM CT
The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports that Cardinals' GM John Mozeliak will meet with Randy Wolf's agent by Wednesday afternoon.

Our View: Wolf made 33 starts last season, and although his ERA will never blow you away, he does strike out a lot of hitters. Last season he whiffed 162 batters in 190.1 innings.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 12/6, 6:14 PM CT
The Orioles reportedly like free agent pitcher Randy Wolf, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Wolf went 12-12 over 33 starts in 2008 with a barely passable 1.38 WHIP, but he would be an upgrade for an Orioles' rotation that currently has several question marks.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 12/4, 12:50 PM CT
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports indicates that the Yankees are interested in Randy Wolf.

Our View: The Astros did not offer the free agent hurler arbitration, so the Yankees would not lose draft picks by signing him. He held a 1.38 WHIP over 33 starts in 2008, and wouldn't be a bad option for the back of their rotation.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 12/4, 9:33 AM CT
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports mentioned Randy Wolf as an option for the Dodgers' rotation.

Our View: Wolf would be favorable to the club if they miss out on the higher-profile free agent starting pitchers. Wolf held a passable 1.38 WHIP in 2008, and the Dodgers would not lose draft picks by signing him as the Astros declined to offer him arbitration.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 12/2, 10:57 AM CT
Randy Wolf was not offered salary arbitration by the Astros, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: GM Ed Wade would still like to re-sign him however, and did not offer arbitration for economic reasons. Wolf could be a hot target later in free agency as the pool of available players gets more shallow, as he held a 1.38 WHIP over 33 starts in 2008.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 11/28, 7:18 PM CT
The Astros are slowing talks with free agent Randy Wolf as they try and get more clarity with their payroll picture, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Even if the Astros don't bring back Wolf, there will be a decent market for him. Most teams are looking for pitchers that aren't on the top tier due to trying to keep their own payrolls down with the poor state of the American economy.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 11/18, 7:23 AM CT
Randy Wolf is testing the free agent market, but the Astros would still like to retain him, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View: Several NL clubs would like to land the 32-year-old hurler to round out the back of their rotation. He pitched 190.1 innings in 2008, while maintaining a passable 1.38 WHIP.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 11/13, 11:07 AM CT
Pitcher Randy Wolf will not accept the Astros' offer, and will instead test the free agent market, according to Astros.com. "We are going to hit free agency and see what happens," Wolf said.

Our View: Wolf is interested in signing with a club who will battle for a playoff spot next season. As a 32-year-old left-hander who threw 190 innings last season, he should be able to secure a multi-year deal somewhere.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 11/12, 2:42 PM CT
The Astros have extended a contract offer to Randy Wolf, who is on the verge of entering the free agent market, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View: The club made an offer, but GM Ed Wade would not comment on the details. The 32-year-old lefty would garner solid interest on the free agent market, as he won four of his last five decisions and six of his last eight in 2008.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 11/11, 7:54 AM CT
Re-signing free agent Randy Wolf is a top priority for the Astros, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View: The 32-year-old hurler remains the top starting pitcher on Houston's free-agent list, and he’ll likely receive a multi-year deal close to or over the $9 million he got last season. He maintained a 4.30 ERA and 1.38 WHIP over 190.1 innings in 2008.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 10/7, 10:19 AM CT
The Houston Astros would like to re-sign pitcher Randy Wolf in the offseason, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View: Wolf won six games and had an ERA of 3.57 after being acquired from the Padres last year. Though far from elite, he is always an attractive option to fantasy owners, at least in part because of his strikeout potential (7.66 K/9 this year).
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 9/26, 9:45 AM CT
Randy Wolf didn't flat out say he would sign a deal to remain in Houston this off-season but he did say he would give it some serious consideration, according to The Houston Chronicle. “A few weeks ago I had a short conversation with Ed (Wade) and talked about what I thought of it here and if I’d be open to playing here,” he said. “Like I’ve said, I think … yes definitely.”

Our View: Wolf has never been on a team that has won the World Series, and he has previously stated that at this stage of his career winning matters most. What a novel thought for a professional athlete wouldn't you say? After throwing 190.1 solid innings this season, there figures to be a long list of team's bidding for the lefties services.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 9/24, 10:40 PM CT
Randy Wolf shutout the Reds on Wednesday night over 6.2 innings to earn his 12th win of the season. He scattered eight hits and two walks while striking out seven batters.

Our View: The free agent to be is 4-1 over the past month and with the exception of the "home" game in Milwaukee he has pitched exceptionally well. He will likely land a contract more than he's worth on the free agent market.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 9/19, 9:18 PM CT
Randy Wolf continued his domination of the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday. He got the win after tossing seven innings of one-run ball. He allowed just three hits and struck out seven.

Our View: Wolf is now 7-1 in his career against the Pirates. Friday marked a quality rebound start after lasting just 2.2 innings against the Cubs earlier in the week.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 9/19, 11:53 AM CT
One wouldn't expect Randy Wolf and Ian Snell to be battling it out in a pitchers dual, but that very well could be the case tonight. The Astros' September OPS of .651 is a Major League worst, and Pittsburgh's .705 mark isn't much better, fifth from the bottom. Randy Wolf has been good in his nine career starts against the Pirates; 6-1 with a 3.64 ERA, and Ian Snell best outing, a quality start in early September, was against the Astros.

Our View: Snell actually struck out nine in six innings, allowing but three runs in the game.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 9/14, 9:48 PM CT
Randy Wolf looked awful on Sunday as he allowed six hits and five runs (four earned), while recording just eight outs against the Cubs in his 12th loss of the year.

Our View: Wolf had been great his past three outings (2-0 record with a 1.64 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and a 3.25 K/BB ratio), but he looked nothing like that pitcher on this night. Face it, Wolf is merely an average pitcher who can rack up some nice K totals when he is "on," but he clearly wasn't on this night.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 9/9, 10:40 PM CT
It has been a pretty good month so far for Randy Wolf, who is 2-0 with another win against the Pirates. The Astros are red hot and Wolf has helped the cause. After going nine innings in a win against the Cubs, he went seven innings and got his 10th win on the year against the Pirates.

Our View: Wolf has been pretty solid for the Astros after coming over from the Padres, but should probably only be considered in NL only leagues.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 9/4, 5:52 PM CT
Randy Wolf has pitched for 10 years in the majors and has never made the playoffs. As a result, he will look to sign with a team that he feels has a great shot making the playoffs next year when he is a free agent, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Wolf has posted a decent season this year with a 7.65 K/9 mark, 2.15 K/BB mark and nine victories. He is the definition of a rotation filler, but when he has the old yacker working, he can still rack up the strikeouts.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 9/3, 10:41 PM CT
Randy Wolf pitched a six-hitter for his eighth career shutout Wednesday night. Wolf led the Astros to victory as they defeated the first place Cubs 4-0.

Our View: Wolf is capable of pitching very well, like tonight, but has been too inconsistent to consider for fantasy lineups in anything but NL-only leagues.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 8/29, 11:34 PM CT
Randy Wolf only surrendered one earned run on three hits over six innings in Friday's 3-2 win over the Cardinals at Minute Maid Park, with one walk and one strikeout. He exited the game trailing 2-0, and was handed a no decision. The Astros scored two runs in the seventh to tie the game, and Lance Berkman ended it with a walk-off homer in the ninth.

Our View: Wolf is capable of pitching very well, like tonight, but has been too inconsistent to consider for fantasy lineups in anything but deeper NL-only leagues.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 8/13, 10:02 PM CT
Randy Wolf saw his record go to 8-10, helping lead the Astros to a 6-2 win over San Francisco with a seven inning, six hit, two earned run performance.

Our View: Wolf had been a solid fantasy contributor in the past, but he isn't consistent enough for owners to be able to depend on him at this point.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 8/8, 10:45 PM CT
Randy Wolf wasn't at his best on Friday night but he still held the Reds to four runs in six innings as the Astros game back to win the game in extra innings.

Our View: Wolf has made three starts for the Astros and owns one win, a 4.11 ERA and a poor 1.83 WHIP. Wolf just isn't someone to count on, though when he has the big curve working, he can rack up the strikeouts.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 8/3, 8:22 PM CT
Randy Wolf held the Mets scoreless over five innings in his second start as an Astro to help the club to their first series sweep of the Mets since September 1993.

Our View: Wolf walked three batters on the day with seven strikeouts, but it remains to be seen how effective he will be pitching in Houston as compared to pitcher friendly San Diego given his tendancy to allow fly balls.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 7/28, 12:04 AM CT
Randy Wolf did not win over many Astros' fans in his debut with the club on Sunday against the Brewers. He lasted just 4.1 innings and gave up seven hits while walking three. The Brewers scored four times on him.

Our View: Wolf was not a very good pitcher on a team where pitchers tend to excel (San Diego) and does not figure to improve much with the Astros. We don't recommend him for the rest of 2008.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 7/27, 7:52 AM CT
Randy Wolf is set to take the hill in his Astros' debut on Saturday against the Brewers, according to the Houston Chronicle. Wolf said, "Basically I’m going to go out there and do the best I can, do my job and try to get this hot team out."

Our View: Wolf was 6-10 with a 4.74 ERA and 1.42 WHIP with San Diego this season, and could benefit from a fresh start with Houston, but not likely enough to make him fantasy worthy.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 7/22, 3:21 PM CT
Randy Wolf has been dealt from the Padres to the Astros in exchange for Triple-A pitcher Chad Reineke, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Our View: He held a 6-10 record over 21 starts with a 4.74 ERA and 1.42 WHIP over 21 starts with San Diego, who have two pitchers set to return from the DL soon (Chris Young and Shawn Estes). He has been a disappointment so far with the Padres, but could still be viewed as an improvement to the back end of the Astros' rotation.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 7/19, 6:19 PM CT
Randy Wolf was staked to a 5-0 lead Saturday but couldn't hold it. The lefty allowed six runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks over 5 2/3 innings.

Our View: The Wolfman has now allowed six runs in consecutive starts. The Padres would like to deal him before the deadline, but he's not doing anything for his value with his performance lately.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 7/18, 11:25 PM CT
San Diego hurler Randy Wolf is certainly available in a trade, but there is little action on him right now, according to Padres.com.

Our View: Wolf would likely be more valuable to fantasy players if he can get out of San Diego. Though almost any ballpark he would go to would not be the pitchers park that Petco is, his chance to earn victories would go up by going to a contending team.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 7/13, 7:13 PM CT
Randy Wolf allowed six runs on six hits, walked three and struck out only one over five innings in Sunday's loss to the Braves.

Our View: Wolf, who is typically a terrific spot start at home in PETCO Park, didn't fool any of the Braves hitters on Sunday afternoon evident by his lack of strike outs.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 7/9, 12:00 AM CT
Randy Wolf rebounded from a horrendous start last Wednesday by throwing seven innings of one-run ball on Tuesday against the Marlins.

Our View: Wolf had seven strikeouts and just one walk on the night. He now has 100 strikeouts in 109 innings, making him very worthy of fantasy consideration despite a 6-8 record.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 7/2, 10:38 PM CT
Randy Wolf was lit up for seven earned runs on six hits over four innings in Wednesday's 8-1 loss to Colorado, with four walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: Wolf falls to 5-8 for the season, and has lost four-straight starts. His seven earned runs allowed tied his season-worst.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 6/27, 10:28 AM CT
Two teams struggling to win games meet up in a three-game interleague set this weekend when the Padres host the Mariners. Seattle, now managed by former Padres manager Jim Riggleman will send Jarrod Washburn to the rubber to square off against lefty Randy Wolf. Tonight's game will be the second time this season that Wolf has faced the M's. Wolf was the losing pitcher May 17 at Seattle, giving up three runs on seven hits in 6.1 innings in a 4-2 Padres loss.

Our View: Wolf's ERA has fallen in seven of his past eight starts. He is 3-2 over the span with a 2.55 ERA. The Padres have scored fewer than three runs in seven games that Wolf started and scored more than three in only five of his 16 starts.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 6/22, 8:10 PM CT
Randy Wolf struck out 10 Tigers on Sunday while allowing three runs, two of which were earned, as he fell to 5-6 with the loss to Detroit.

Our View: Wolf has been a strikeout machine this season with 87 in 94.2 IP, and his ERA of 4.09 is certainly quite serviceable for use in mixed leagues.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 6/17, 1:09 PM CT
Randy Wolf will be hunting for his sixth win of the season when the Padres face the Yankees tonight in the Bronx, according to MLB.com. Wolf is 5-4 with a 3.83 ERA and solid 1.23 WHIP over 84.2 innings, with 75 strikeouts.

Our View: Wolf has only allowed one earned run in three straight starts, and two or less runs in his last five. He is worth a look for your rotation tonight.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 6/11, 11:38 PM CT
Randy Wolf continued his solid work on the hill on Wednesday night as he held the Dodgers to four hits, one walk and just one run over seven innings in his fifth win of the year.

Our View: Wolf also had nine punchouts and has been a tremendous source of strike outs with a 7.88 K/9 mark and he appears to be full over the health concerns that limited him to just 102.2 innings last year.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 6/6, 11:53 PM CT
Randy Wolf outdueled Johan Santana Friday, limiting the Mets to one run on seven hits and two walks while striking out two over seven innings in San Diego's 2-1 win.

Our View: Wolf has had four straight solid outings in a row after going through a rough patch.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 6/1, 9:01 PM CT
Randy Wolf allowed one run on four hits in six innings, but wasn't involved in the decision of the 4-3 loss to the Giants because Tim Lincecum was just as good. When Wolf exited the game in the seventh inning on Sunday neither offense had scored.

Our View: Wolf walked one and struck out five. His effort resulted in his fourth straight quality start. As long as Wolf is pitching in PETCO or roomy venues like the one in San Francisco he is a solid fantasy option.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 5/26, 7:48 PM CT
Randy Wolf, who is coming off an impressive outing against the Reds on Thursday, will face the 14th ranked offense on Tuesday night when the Nationals head to the west coast for the first of a three-game tilt.

Our View: Wolf, as are all of the Padres pitchers, is a terrific fantasy option at PETCO Park regardless of opponent. The Nationals soft-hitting lineup is an added plus. Wolf limited Cincinnati to two runs on four hits over seven innings in his last start and became the first Padres starting pitcher to pitch seven or more innings since April 27.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 5/22, 11:51 PM CT
Randy Wolf held the Reds to just two runs over seven innings to improve his record to 3-4. Wolf walked only one while striking out nine.

Our View: After a couple of rough outings, Wolf has rebounded to allow five runs over his last two starts during which time he has 14 K and just two BB, a major reason for his success. When he throws strikes Wolf is tough to hit, he just struggles to find the strike zone at times.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 5/12, 10:31 PM CT
Randy Wolf was hit hard on Monday night as the Padres lost their 25th game of the season. The left-hander allowed seven runs on eight hits, walked five and struck out two in four innings of work.

Our View: Wolf, like most of the Padres' pitchers, prefer to be pitching at PETCO Park. Wolf's ERA went from 4.14 to 5.16 after his Monday performance.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 5/1, 9:05 PM CT
Randy Wolf continued his early season run of solid starts as he allowed just two runs over six innings to the Phillies. Wolf also tied his season best with nine K.

Our View: Wolf has quietly racked up some extremely impressive strikeout numbers with 37 K in 35.1 innings as he is giving the Padres everything they hoped he would. Almost as impressive as the K totals is the fact that he has walked only 11 batters on the season leading to a 1.13 WHIP.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 4/20, 7:41 PM CT
Padres' Randy Wolf threw his second strong outing on Sunday as the Padres defeated division leader Arizona. The left-hander allowed four runs on six hits, walked one and struck out seven over 6.1 innings of work.

Our View: Wolf's fourth start indicates that the Padres rotation is the strongest in the National League.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 4/15, 11:58 PM CT
Padres LHP Randy Wolf was about as reliable and strong as any starting pitcher on the plate today, leading the Padres to a dominating 0-6 win over the Colorado Rockies. Wolf held the Rockies to just ONE hit over seven innings of work.

Our View: Wolf threw 112 pitches, including 68 for strikes, walked four and struck out nine. That brings his ERA to a lowly 1.42 and give Wolf his first win of the season.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 3/24, 7:48 PM CT
Randy Wolf had his best outing of the spring as he limited the Dodgers to five hits in six shutout innings on Monday. Wolf's stuff is finally coming along, not just his fastball but his off-speed stuff too, and since he will be pitching in such a pitcher friendly ballyard in San Diego, Wolf is a nice sleeper play if he can remain healthy.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 3/9, 8:35 PM CT
Randy Wolf finally made it out of the first inning after failing to do so in each of his last two outings, but he was still sluggish as he allowed two runs and five hits over three innings of work on Sunday. On a positive note, he did have five strikeouts and still has time to solidify his spot in the Padres rotation.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 3/5, 3:52 PM CT
For the second time in as many starts, Randy Wolf failed to make it out of the first inning. The Padres southpaw recorded only two outs on Wednesday. He allowed three hits and four runs and walked two. "Spring training is the height of my frustration," Wolf tells the San Diego Union-Tribune. We were on board with Wolf as a minor sleeper until these two starts. He still has plenty of time to shape up for the season.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersMonday 2/25, 8:54 PM CT
Randy Wolf was nervous when he went under the knife in September, but all signs point to his shoulder being ready to go as spring training begins, this according to MLB.com. "The ball is coming out of his hand good, he's confident. The guys [hitters] commented that he had some life on the ball," manager Bud Black said. Wolf appears to be on track to be the team's fourth starter this season, and given the fact that he pitches in just about the best park in the NL, a healthy season could result in a nice comeback for the former 16-game winner.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 12/1, 9:22 PM CT
Randy Wolf agreed to a one-year contract with the Padres on Saturday, according to the AP. The terms of the deal are unclear, but the contract is expected to be heavily incentive-based, as Wolf made just 18 starts in 2007 due to minor shoulder surgery. Wolf, a flyball pitcher, should fit in well in PETCO Park, although he remains an injury risk for the 2008 season.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 11/1, 10:39 PM CT
The Dodgers declined Randy Wolf's $9 million option on Thursday, instead choosing to pay a $500,000 buyout, according to the Dodgers website. Wolf made just 16 starts in 2007 due to shoulder issues. He underwent surgery in September, but he's expected to be ready for spring training. Wolf still has plenty of talent, and while there is certainly risk here, he could wind up being one of the better bargains this offseason.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 9/6, 11:40 AM CT
Randy Wolf underwent surgery on his left shoulder on Wednesday, according to the LA Times. Since there was no structural damage found in the lefty's shoulder, he could began his rehab as early as next week, and possibly begin throwing in six-to-eight weeks. The Dodgers expect Wolf to be ready for spring training next year, although it remains to be seen whether they'll exercise their $9 million option for the 2008 season.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 8/31, 11:20 PM CT
Randy Wolf will have diagnostic arthroscopic surgery on his sore left shoulder on Wednesday, according to the AP. He has been on the disabled list since July 4 and felt pain in his shoulder while throwing last weekend. "It's not that bad. It's just not right," Wolf said about the pain. "It's hard to explain." He is 9-6 with a 4.73 ERA in 18 starts for the Dodgers this year.

Our View: Shoulder pain, no matter how bad, is not a good sign. Wolf has not completed a full season since 2003.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSaturday 8/18, 2:39 AM CT
Randy Wolf, out since July 4 because of shoulder problems, said he will begin playing catch by the middle of next week in the hope that he can salvage something out of this season, the AP reports. "The frustrating part is that the clock is running out," said Wolf. "All I can go by is the information I have and how I feel. I feel like I can throw right now, but I think it's going to take that extra week. I can't be certain what the outcome will be. I've obviously been a little gun-shy since the last time I threw, and I'm being very cautious and trying to do it right."
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 8/1, 10:18 AM CT
It's possible that Randy Wolf, recovering from a sore shoulder, won't return at all this year, according to the LA Times. "There's a chance," said Wolf. "I have to be realistic. I'm not going to take the ball until I feel perfect. So that's what I'm going to work for." Wolf dealt with shoulder stiffness following his last rehab start, and doctors have told him not to throw for at least two weeks, so even if he does return, it may not be until September.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 7/27, 11:44 AM CT
Randy Wolf gave up three runs on six hits and one walk in a rehab outing for High-A Inland Empire Wednesday. Coming back from a sore shoulder, Wolf strongly hinted he would need at least one more rehab outing before rejoining the Dodgers rotation, according to the LA Times. "We're kind of taking it day-by-day right now," Wolf said. "We'll see how it feels in the next couple days and take it from there. Everyone wants to take the conservative approach."
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 7/20, 10:58 AM CT
Randy Wolf, sidelined with a sore shoulder, is tentatively scheduled to make a rehab start next week, possibly Wednesday, according to the LA Times. The lefty is slated to throw about 20 pitches today and have a full bullpen session on Sunday. Trainer Stan Conte made it clear that Wolf's rehab start is "subject to change."

Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 7/8, 9:53 PM CT
Randy Wolf has resumed his regular exercise program after getting a cortisone shot for this ailing pitching shoulder. The shot "knocked out most, if not all, of the pain," trainer Stan Conte told the AP. Wolf could be activated on July 19, the first day he's eligible to come off the DL.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersFriday 7/6, 11:04 AM CT
The Dodgers received good news on Randy Wolf Thursday. An MRI on Wolf's ailing left shoulder revealed nothing more than an impingement, and the hurler could return when he is eligible to be activated from the disabled list on July 19, according to the LA Times. "What we're looking at with Randy is that he should be throwing again by the end of the All-Star break and ready to pitch again, most likely, when his 15 days are up," Manager Grady Little said.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersThursday 7/5, 6:21 AM CT
Randy Wolf went on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday due to his sore shoulder, the AP reports. He's expected to have an MRI Thursday. D.J. Houlton will probably start in his place against the Marlins Sunday.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersWednesday 7/4, 11:20 AM CT
Randy Wolf lasted only three innings in his start on Tuesday, and he's expected to undergo an MRI on his shoulder on Thursday and miss his final start before the All-Star break, according to the LA Times. "I've never had discomfort in my shoulder," Wolf said. "It's not something that I'm used to." It's unclear who will start in Wolf's place on Sunday.
Randy Wolf, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 4/1, 10:23 AM CT

This signing might suggest that the Dodgers don't expect to retain Greg Maddux, who is currently a free agent.
