Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 9/10, 1:48 PM CT
Gil Meche is likely out for the season with shoulder fatigue, according to the Twitter page of beat writer Bob Dutton.

Our View: The Royals are going nowhere fast this season, so it makes sense to shut Meche down if anything is wrong with him at all. He wasn't a great fantasy option anyway, so this shouldn't be a huge loss for anyone's team. Expect him to be back and ready to go next season unless this fatigue turns out to be something worse.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 9/4, 4:10 PM CT
Gil Meche has been scratched from tonight's start against the Angels due to right shoulder fatigue, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Robinson Tejeda will replace him tonight. The Royals did not speculate if Meche will need to spend time on the DL, or when he may make his next start.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 8/30, 12:04 AM CT
Gil Meche got pounded for seven runs in just four innings on Saturday night, as the Royals lost 8-4 in Seattle.

Our View: Meche has now allowed at least four runs in five straight starts, and looks to be completely crumbling. He can't be counted on down the stretch.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 8/24, 10:38 PM CT
Gil Meche gave up four earned runs on eight hits over seven innings in Monday's 10-6 loss to the Indians at Kauffman Stadium. He had two walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: The game was tied at 4-4 when Meche exited, so he ends the night with a no-decision rather than a loss. He allowed four or more earned runs in each of his last four starts.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 8/18, 10:34 PM CT
Gil Meche gave up four earned runs on eight hits over five innings in tonight's 5-4 win at Chicago. He issued five walks with two strikeouts, and allowed two homers.

Our View: Meche did not pitch well, but the Royals provided enough run support for him to collect his sixth win of 2009. He is 2-0 over two starts in August, is worth employing in AL-only leagues for his next trip to the hill.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 8/13, 3:22 PM CT
Gil Meche returned from the DL to pick up his fifth win of the season on Thursday as the Royals beat the Twins 5-4. Meche went five innings and allowed four runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out two.

Our View: Meche wasn't great in his return today, but he was good enough to get the win. Meche is now 5-9 on the year with a 4.62 ERA, and unless he starts pitching better he should be owned in only AL-only leagues. Right now, he isn't worth owning in mixed leagues.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 8/13, 9:55 AM CT
The Kansas City Royals have officially activated starter Gil Meche to pitch Thursday afternoon against the Twins, according to the Twitter page of Royals' beat writer Bob Dutton. To make room on the roster, the team placed pitcher Doug Waechter on the 15-day DL with a strained right elbow.

Our View: Meche has been decent in his rehab stint, so if you have been holding onto him, get him in today. He struggled before his injury, so hopefully now that he is healthy he will be able to produce better results. He is expected to be on a pitch count today, so he likely won't go deep into the game.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 8/6, 8:14 PM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Royals' starter Gil Meche could return to the rotation next week. Meche is scheduled to make his seond rehab start in Triple-A on Saturday.

Our View: Meche is expected to rejoin the rotation next week if he makes it through his start on Saturday. Meche will throw 80-90 pitches, and if all goes well, be ready to activate him at some point later in the week.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 8/4, 12:36 PM CT
The Kansas City Star reports that Gil Meche, who is on the DL with a sore back, threw 67 pitches for Triple-A Omaha on Monday. After three scoreless innings, he allowed two runs in the fourth. He walked four and struck out two.

Our View: This was his first game action since July 11 when muscle spasms caused him to exit a game early. He should be back with the Royals on their next homestand.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 8/3, 10:23 AM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Gil Meche will pitch in a minor league rehab game on Monday with Triple-A Omaha after his scheduled Sunday start was rained out. Meche is hoping to return to the Royals rotation this week.

Our View: Meche should still be on track with his return assuming everything goes smoothly tonight, so the rainout shouldn't affect his return to the team. He was still sore last week, but it looks like he is feeling better and he could return soon. We will keep you updated.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 7/28, 9:10 AM CT
Gil Meche (back) reportedly still felt stiff when he threw in the bullpen on Monday, and might not return to the Royals rotation this weekend as originally scheduled, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Meche is scheduled to throw again on Wednesday, but unless it goes absolutely flawlessly, probably won't be penciled into the rotation this weekend. Plan on him being a little while longer.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 7/27, 9:51 AM CT
According to MLB.com, injured Royals' starter Gil Meche is scheduled to throw another bullpen session on Monday in Baltimore. The team is hoping that Meche will be able to return to the rotation for their weekend series against the Rays.

Our View: Assuming Meche gets through his session without any complications today, expect him to be ready to go this weekend. The Royals have their rotation set at least through Thursday, so it seems unlikely he will return before the weekend series even if he is feeling 100 percent. He won't be a strong fantasy play against the Rays' offense when he does make his return.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 7/25, 6:36 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Royals' starter Gil Meche is at least five days away from returning from the disabled list.

Our View: No official timetable has been set for Meche's return, but the Royals know that he will need at least one more side session. He had one on Friday and reported no discomfort or soreness, but the Royals want to tread cautiously with his sore lower back. Assuming his next session is positive he would likely return shortly after that.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 7/24, 8:29 PM CT
Gil Meche reported no discomfort during a bullpen session Friday, according to the Kansas City Star. He is recovering from lower back spasms.

Our View: This is encouraging news, but Meche is unlikely to return to the Royals when first eligible July 27, as the club intends to play it safe.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 7/20, 9:24 AM CT
The Kansas City Star is reporting that injured Royals' starter Gil Meche hopes to return to the mound when eligible on July 27. Meche was placed on the DL Saturday with back spasms.

Our View: Meche received an injection on Sunday, and now he will have to sit and wait to see if it helps relieve the pain. He is still sore, but he has a week to recover before being eligible for activation, so it looks like he will be ready. We will keep you updated on his status for that start.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 7/18, 4:28 PM CT
Gil Meche has been placed on the 15-day DL due to back spasms, according to the Kansas City Star. Sidney Ponson has been activated from the DL as the adjoining move.

Our View: The DL move is expected to be retroactive to July 12, making him first eligible to return July 27. Meche could actually benefit from the time off, as he is 0-4 over his last five starts.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 7/13, 9:37 AM CT
The Kansas City Star is reporting that Royals' starter Gil Meche is still feeling the effects of the back spasms that forced him out of his last start. Meche said he should be fine to make his next start, but he will be evaluated again at that time.

Our View: Meche sounds like he is confident that he will be good to go, but it is hard to predict these back spasms. It may be a good idea to sit him if you can afford it, because he has not been good lately and the injury is unpredictable.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 7/11, 10:45 PM CT
Gil Meche was lit up for eight runs (six earned) on six hits over 3.2 innings in Saturday's 15-9 loss at Boston. He had three walks and six strikeouts, and was tagged for two homers.

Our View: As previously reported, Meche was forced to exit the game early due to back spasms. He ended up taking a loss, and falls to 4-9 for the season. The Royals are yet to update his status.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 7/11, 9:30 PM CT
Gil Meche exited tonight's start against Boston in the fourth inning due to back spasms, according to MLB.com. The ailment is located on his lower left side.

Our View: This is not the same back injury that bothered Meche in spring training and earlier in the season. The Royals are yet to speculate if he will need to miss any time.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 7/6, 9:12 PM CT
Gil Meche allowed two earned runs on five hits over 5.2 innings in Monday's close 4-3 win at Detroit. He issued five walks with five strikeouts, and was tagged for two homers.

Our View: Meche ends the night with a no-decision, and is winless over his last four starts. He is having control issues, as he allowed five walks in each of his last two outings.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 7/1, 5:27 PM CT
Gil Meche allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits over six innings in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Twins at Kauffman Stadium. He issued five walks with five strikouts.

Our View: Meche had trouble with his command today, evidenced by the five free passes. He falls to 4-8, and his ERA climbs to 4.20. He has taken a loss in three straight starts.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 6/29, 6:36 PM CT
Gil Meche will be able to make his scheduled start Wednesday after faring fine during his throwing workout today, according to the Kansas City Star. He has been dealing with a sore shoulder.

Our View: Meche should be fine to pencil into fantasy lineups when he battles the Twins Wednesday. He is 8-5 with a 4.62 ERA over 17 career starts against Minnesota.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 6/28, 1:13 PM CT
According to MLB.com, Gil Meche is suffering from a sore shoulder and will test it with a throwing session on Monday. His next start is in jeopardy.

Our View: Meche was very blunt about his ailing shoulder. "If I feel good tomorrow, then I'm pitching," he said. "If I don't feel good tomorrow, then I'm not pitching." I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 6/26, 8:50 PM CT
Gil Meche was roughed up for four earned runs on five hits over five innings in Friday's 5-3 loss at Pittsburgh. He had three walks and three strikeouts, and was tagged for two homers.

Our View: Meche falls to 4-7, and has given up 13 earned runs over his last two starts. He will be an unstable fantasy option for his next trip to the mound.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 6/21, 4:35 PM CT
Gil Meche was lit up for nine earned runs on nine hits over a mere 3.1 innings of work in Sunday's 12-5 loss to the Cardinals at Kauffman Stadium. He had two walks and a strikeout, and was tagged for two homers.

Our View: Meche had his two-game winning streak snapped. He only allowed one earned run over his previous three starts in June, and should be able to bounce back fine following today's nightmarish outing.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 6/16, 10:26 PM CT
Gil Meche dazzled in Tuesday's 5-0 win over Arizona at Kauffman Stadium, as he only allowed four hits over nine scoreless innings. He had one walk and fired six strikeouts.

Our View: Meche collected his first complete game and shutout of 2009. He has not taken a loss over his last four starts, and claimed two wins over the span.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 6/10, 8:50 PM CT
Gil Meche struck out 11 in seven shutout innings in Wednesday's 9-0 win over the Indians. He gave up four hits and three walks in as he improved to 3-5 on the season.

Our View: Meche has been pretty inconsistent throughout this season but he has looked good over his last three starts. Tonight was his best start of the season and just his first win since May 3 despite lowering his ERA from 4.14 to 3.70 in that stretch.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 6/4, 6:06 PM CT
Gil Meche struggled with his control in Thursday's 3-2 loss at Tampa Bay, as he issued five walks and six hits over six innings. He only gave up one earned run though.

Our View: Meche has allowed two or less earned runs in each of his last four starts - but does not have any wins over the span. His win-potential is hindered by playing for a weak team.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 5/30, 8:54 PM CT
Gil Meche only issued two earned runs on five hits over seven innings in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the White Sox at Kauffman Stadium. He had two walks and fired seven strikeouts.

Our View: Meche had a solid outing, but took a no-decision due to poor run support from his teammates. He only claimed one win over six starts in May.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 5/21, 12:13 AM CT
Gil Meche pitched pretty well on Wednesday, but he did not factor into the decision as the Royals' fell to the Indians 6-5. Meche went six innings and allowed two runs on six hits while walking one and striking out two.

Our View: Meche was considerably better tonight, but it didn't translate into a win. He has been up and down so far this season, but when he is on he is still a quality fantasy pitcher. Monitor his next couple start to see how he performs.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 5/20, 12:38 PM CT
Gil Meche is optimistic heading into tonight's start against Cleveland as he had no issues with his back while increasing his between-starts workload since his last appearance, according to the Kansas City Star. He said, "I was able to do the running and all of the stretching and not have any tightness in my back. I know my back feels better today than it has been. Hopefully, today it will not get tight or have any stiffness."

Our View: Meche is 1-3 over his last four starts, allowing 18 runs in 19.2 innings over the span. Hopefully he will be able to bounce back tonight, and it sounds like he may be able to do so.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 5/14, 11:03 PM CT
Gil Meche struggled again on Thursday as the Royals fell to the Orioles 9-5. Meche went 4.1 innings and allowed five runs on six hits while walking two and striking out one.

Our View: Meche has been a disappointment so far in 2009, and his bad start continued tonight. Meche's record now sits at 2-4, and he is going to need to step up his play if he is going to remain relevant in mixed league play.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 5/9, 12:12 AM CT
Gil Meche got knocked around by the Angels on Friday. He allowed four runs on eight hits and three walks in just 5.2 innings and took the loss as the Royals fell 4-1.

Our View: Meche is now 2-3 on the season with a 4.43 ERA and has only had three quality starts in his seven outings this season. He has however avoided getting completely blown out in a game, and he did that by now allowing a home run in his first six starts. Tonight's blast by Howie Kendrick was the first he gave up.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 5/2, 9:38 AM CT
Gil Meche is fully expected to make his scheduled start on Sunday against the Twins. He tells the Kansas City Star that his lower back issues have not lingered.

Our View: It's safe to keep Meche in fantasy lineups.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 4/29, 8:15 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Gil Meche had tests on his sore lower back on Wednesday, but he is not expected to miss his next start. Meche claims he has dealt with the pain since spring training and it comes and goes. It came on Tuesday as he lasted just 3.2 innings

Our View: Expect Meche to receive plenty of treatment and hopefully he'll be able to get his back back to 100 percent without having to take any off days. It may be a safe play to bench him in his next outing despite a strong start to the season.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 4/23, 2:26 PM CT
Gil Meche allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits over 7.1 innings of work in Thursday's 5-2 loss at Cleveland. He fired seven strikeouts with no walks.

Our View: Meche suffered his first loss over four starts, but the Royals' ace hurler set a new season high with seven strikeouts.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 4/17, 11:30 PM CT
Pitcher Gil Meche silenced the hot Rangers bats over six shutout innings on Tuesday night. He allowed six hits, walked two, struck out six, and picked up his first win of the season.

Our View: That's three straight excellent outings for Meche, who has basically had one rough inning all season. He has quietly established himself as a very solid fantasy option.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 4/7, 3:51 PM CT
Gil Meche allowed one earned run on seven hits over seven innings of work in Tuesday's 4-2 loss at the White Sox, with no walks and six strikeouts.

Our View: Meche exited the game with a 2-1 lead, but was dealt a no-decision as Kyle Farnsworth gave up a three-run homer to slugger Jim Thome in the eighth inning. Meche pitched well, and it is a shame he couldn't register a win.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 4/1, 7:38 PM CT
Gil Meche had another solid start on Wednesday and earned his third win this spring. He tossed four innings of one run ball and only allowed three hit. However he walked four on the day.

Our View: Meche had some control issues, but got out of his start virtually unscathed. He has a nice K-rate, but those walks can get him into trouble. If he wants to build on last year's campaign he'll need to refine his control.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 3/27, 7:14 PM CT
Gil Meche was brilliant Friday, tossing seven shutout innings and allowing only four hits and a walk while striking out six.

Our View: It's nice to see Meche get a good start under his belt, as he has been batting practice for hitters all spring. He could be a decent starter in AL-only leagues, but expect him to regress as he came out of nowhere last year.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 3/25, 10:38 AM CT
Gil Meche is slated to start in the Royals' season opener against the White Sox, according to the Kansas City Star. Manager Trey Hillman said, "He is our No. 1 pitcher, for me, until proven otherwise. It does not mean we do not like Zack Greinke. I think you guys get too wrapped up in that, to be honest with you."

Our View: Meche will be starting on opening day for the third straight season. Zack Greinke will follow Meche in the rotation.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 3/21, 7:51 PM CT
Gil Meche struggles again on Saturday, allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks. He failed to complete four innings.

Our View: One of fantasy's biggest surprises last year, Meche has been knocked around all spring. He has a 10.45 ERA and a history of injuries, which makes you wonder if something is wrong with him. If you're targeting Meche, tread carefully.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 3/11, 7:12 PM CT
Gil Meche had his second straight poor outing as he allowed five hits, two walks, and two earned runs in 2.1 innings of work to the Mariners on Wednesday.

Our View: That makes nine hits and five runs in 3.1 innings this spring. Meche has had two fairly successful years with the Royals, as he has made 34 starts in each. However, prior to his arrival in KC, he was fairly injury prone. Despite excellent durability over the past two seasons, he still has some injury risk.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 3/3, 1:31 PM CT
Gil Meche experienced some second-day soreness in the middle of his back after firing 37 pitches Sunday in his one-inning spring debut against the Angels, according to the Kansas City Star. He said, "It is just normal spring soreness. Nothing to be concerned about. I go through it every year."

Our View: Meche is slated to pitch two or three innings Friday in a "B" game against the Rangers. Meche averages 213 innings over the last two seasons, and set a career-high with 183 strikeouts in 2008. He should be drafted among the top-50 fantasy hurlers, and would rank higher if he played for a better team.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 3/2, 12:15 AM CT
Gil Meche had an ugly start on Sunday, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks in just one inning of work. He did manage to strike out one batter.

Our View: Meche went 14-11 last year for the Royals with a 3.98 ERA in 34 starts. He's worth having in fantasy in 2009, especially as Kansas City continues to improve.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 9/27, 6:29 PM CT
Gil Meche won his 14th game of the year for the Royals in their 4-2 win over the Twins.

Our View: Meche might not have been a number one starter on many fantasy teams but he sure did contribute for fantasy owners. In 34 starts Meche won 14 games and struck out 183 hitters in 210.1 innings.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 9/22, 9:55 PM CT
Gil Meche picked up his 13th victory of the season on Monday night with six innings of two run ball against the Tigers.

Our View: The 13 wins are the second best total of Meche's career (he had 15 in 2003), and with four strikeouts tonight he pushed his K total up to 176, a career best. Meche isn't likely to win many fantasy leagues, but he can certainly be a piece of a winning squad.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 9/17, 10:27 PM CT
Gil Meche pitched seven strong innnings against Seattle on Wednesday night to earn his 12th win of the seaosn. He allowed just two runs while striking out seven.

Our View: Meche is an underrated starter when it comes to fantasy baseball. He now has 172 strikeouts in 198.1 innings and his ERA is down to 4.08.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 9/12, 9:44 PM CT
Gil Meche allowed six earned runs on Friday night against the Indians. It was his most since April 22 when he gave up eight to Cleveland. He is now 11-11.

Our View: Despite the off night, this has been a good rebound season for Meche who has shown some consistency and the ability to get strikeouts. If the Royals ever start winning games, then his fantasy value would increase substanitally. IF!
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 9/6, 8:41 PM CT
Gil Meche struck out 10 Indians in seven innings on Saturday night as he won his 11th game and his first since August fourth. He gave up just one run on three hits.

Our View: In 10 starts since the All-Star break, Meche has a 2.83 ERA. All-in-all, this has been a good year for Meche, one making him worthy of fantasy consideration once again.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 8/25, 10:19 PM CT
Gil Meche was pounded by the Texas Rangers, giving up a season-high 14 hits in 6.1 innings, and allowing five earned runs in the Royals 9-4 loss.

Our View: Meche has had a good August, but this was a poor performance. He's lucky he only gave up five runs considering how many hits he allowed.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 8/20, 9:15 PM CT
Kansas City ace Gil Meche was strong off the rubber this evening, but the relief pitching and offense failed to support his effort. Meche pitched seven innings, allowing three runs (only one earned) on just two hits with one walk and nine strikeouts. He walked with no decision though his Royals fell 8-5 to the Indians.

Our View: Meche went 3-1 through six starts in July and is now 2-0 through four starts in August. His control had slipped in those last three starts, balancing 14 walks with 23 strikeouts. He appears to be back on track and throwing well.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 8/15, 11:16 PM CT
Gil Meche's terrific effort was spoiled Friday by the Royals' bullpen. Meche allowed only one run on six hits and two walks while striking out eight over six innings but lost his win when Ron Mahay gave up two runs in the seventh. The Royals went on to win the game

Our View: Meche has been terrific after a horrible April.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 8/10, 5:39 PM CT
Gil Meche did not figure in the decision, but he threw 6.1 innings, giving up four runs on five hits and an absurd seven walks in the Royals 5-4 win over Minnesota.

Our View: Meche is somewhat inconsistent, and though he has decent overall numbers, he is best left to AL-only leagues.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 8/4, 10:13 PM CT
Kansas City hurler Gil Meche threw a solid six innings, giving up just two earned runs in the Royals 4-2 victory over Boston. Although Meche walked five batters, he also struck out nine.

Our View: Meche won his tenth game of the season, and has put together a nice run of games. In his last four contests, Meche has thrown 26.1 innings and allowed just five earned runs.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 7/29, 11:53 PM CT
Kansas City RHP Gil Meche was strong on the mound in support of the 5-2 win over Oakland this evening, going seven innings to allow two runs (both earned) on five hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.

Our View: Meche now sits at 9-9 on the season with an ERA of 4.22. He touts three consecutive wins with just three combined earned runs allowed over that span, including a 4/18 walk-to-strikeout ratio.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 7/24, 10:06 PM CT
Gil Meche hurled seven scoreless innings, with five hits allowed, in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Rays. He had four strikeouts with one walk.

Our View: Meche pulls closer to the .500 mark at 8-9, and has won two straight decisions, while allowing only one earned run over 13.1 innings. Meche should remain active in your lineups for the new fantasy week.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 7/20, 1:09 PM CT
Gil Meche has been named in trade rumors, but he has a no-trade clause in his contract and said he doesn't plan to waive it, according to the KC Star. GM Dayton Moore also noted that Meche is part of the Royals plans to build a contender in the coming years.

Our View: The team is also disinclined to trade away David DeJesus, Jose Guillen, Zach Greinke, or Ron Mahay, unless overwhelmed by an offer.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 7/19, 9:20 PM CT
Gil Meche mowed down the White Sox Saturday, allowing just one run on two hits and a walk while striking out six over 6 1/3 innings.

Our View: Maybe Gil was peeved that manager Trey Hillman "demoted" him to the No. 2 starter role.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 7/12, 9:54 PM CT
Kansas City RHP Gil Meche did the heavy lifting but walked away from the park with no decision despite the 5-4 win for his Royals over Seattle. Meche pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing four runs (all earned) on 10 hits wiht one walk and one strikeout on the night.

Our View: Meche ended June with three consecutive wins but has not earned a win in three starts since, touting seven walks versus six strikeouts through that span.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 7/7, 3:41 PM CT
Gil Meche pitched well despite being handed a no decision in Monday's 7-4 win over the Rays. He only allowed two earned runs on seven hits over 5.1 innings, with four walks and five strikeouts.

Our View: Meche is 3-2 over his last seven starts, and has allowed two or less earned runs four times over the span.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 7/2, 8:30 PM CT
Gil Meche allowed five runs (four earned) on nine hits over six innings in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to Baltimore, with two walks and no strikeouts.

Our View: Tonight's loss snaps a three-game winning streak for him. He only allowed one earned run in each of his last two wins heading into tonight.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 6/27, 10:02 PM CT
Gil Meche enjoyed a strong outing in Friday's 7-2 win over the Cardinals, as he only surrendered one earned run on six hits over seven innings, with one walk and two strikeouts. The lone run came on a Troy Glaus homer.

Our View: Meche improves to 6-8, and has won three straight decisions, and has only allowed one run in each of his last two. He should be penciled into your lineups in AL-only and larger mixed-leagues while he is hot.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 6/21, 9:15 PM CT
Gil Meche allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks while striking out seven over 5 2/3 innings Saturday.

Our View: Meche got off to a horrible start but holds a 3.65 ERA and 1.14 WHIP since May.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 6/15, 8:36 PM CT
Gil Meche allowed three earned runs on four hits over 7.1 innings in Sunday's 8-3 win over Arizona, with one walk and 10 strikeouts.

Our View: That was the ninth time that he allowed three or less earned runs, yet he is only 4-8 for the season. He reached a season-high in strikeouts tonight as well.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 6/10, 10:33 PM CT
Gil Meche earned a no-decision on Tuesday night, but his effort was solid. The right-hander held the Rangers to four hits and one run over six innings. Meche walked two and struck out four.

Our View: Meche had a very nice May (3.65 ERA, 1.14 WHIP), and he bounced back after a back outing on June 5. His overall numbers continue to look bad, but we view Gil as a useful back-end, mix-and-match hurler in mixed leagues.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 6/10, 10:03 AM CT
Gil Meche laughed off the trade rumor that he is being shipped to the Cubs, according to the Kansas City Star. Meche has a no-trade clause in his contract and said he hasn't been asked to waive it.

Our View: Meche is only 3-8 with a 5.54 ERA this season, but the team still believes he has a bright future with the Royals and are invested in him. He has allowed 11 homers over 13 starts this season, which really wouldn't make him favorable to the Cubs, especially on days when the wind is blowing out at Wrigley Field.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 6/5, 10:10 PM CT
Gil Meche lost for the eighth time on Thursday night after walking four batters and permitting seven hits over 5.2 innings against the White Sox. Meche allowed five runs, four earned, in the loss.

Our View: This was the first time in five starts that Meche had allowed more than three runs, and he also reversed a trend of 8-straight starts with two or fewer walks. Meche has the makings of being a quality hurler, we all saw that last year, but he just hasn't been able to put things together this season.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 5/25, 3:18 PM CT
Gil Meche pitched well but was dealt his seventh loss of the season on Sunday, as Kansas City was topped by Toronto 3-1. Meche only allowed two runs on five hits over six innings, with two walks and five strikeouts.

Our View: He only allowed two runs on five hits in his previous loss as well (to Boston on May 20). Both losses are solely due to poor run support by the Royals.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 5/20, 8:59 PM CT
Gil Meche threw his fourth straight outing on Tuesday at Fenway Park. The right-hander allowed two runs on five hits, walked two and struck out eight in seven innings of work. Meche suffered the loss however as the Royals fell 2-1 to Justin Masterson and the Red Sox.

Our View: Meche is now 3-6 on the season but in the effort he lowered his ERA nearly a half a run to 5.58.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsThursday 5/15, 5:25 PM CT
Gil Meche had his third strong start in his last four outings as he held the Tigers to three runs over seven innings. Meche allowed six hits and two walks while striking out six.

Our View: Meche has been a major disappointment thus far, but don't forget about him in mixed leagues as there is still plenty of talent left in that right arm of his.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 5/9, 11:10 PM CT
Gil Meche, who went five innings for the Royals on Friday night, allowed five runs and six hits in his fifth loss of the season.

Our View: Meche, who has only one victory in his past four starts, had his ERA balloon to 6.31. The right-hander has yet to win at home this year.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 5/4, 3:17 PM CT
Gil Meche threw seven scoreless innings and only allowed four hits in Sunday's 2-0 win over Cleveland. He had no walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: Meche improved to 2-4 and lowered his ERA to 5.98. That was a great outing for him today, but his fantasy stock still remains low. Now would be a good time to trade him if you can get a favorable offer for him.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 4/27, 4:50 PM CT
Gil Meche was the pitcher of record in Saturday's 5-2 loss to Toronto. It is the his fourth loss of the season.

Our View: Meche threw a ton of pitches (129) matching his career high. But the Royals needed to ease the pain the bullpen has felt since a Thursday double header. Meche has a 7.22 ERA in six starts while allowing 43 hits in 33.2 innings.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 4/22, 10:47 PM CT
Gil Meche couldn't figure out the Indians on Tuesday night. The right-hander allowed nine hits and eight runs over 3.1 innings. Meche served up two homers, including a grand slam.

Our View: Meche had just gotten out of the fantasy doghouse by picking up a win against the Angels, and now he's definitely going to land on benches in mixed leagues.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 4/11, 11:33 PM CT
Gil Meche allowed only five hits on Friday night but he also walked four batters and allowed five earned runs over six innings to pick up his second loss of the season. Meche has been on a near K per IP pace with 16 in 17.2 innings, but he has walked 10 batters thereby negating the advantage of the punchouts. He will right the ship before long and might be someone to target in trade talks as he could possibly be had cheaply.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 4/5, 3:57 PM CT
Gil Meche failed to impress in his second start of the season, throwing 87 pitches (57 strikes) through 5 2/3 innings to surrender six runs (all earned) on six hits. Meche only walked two and struck out five, but the heart of the Twins' batting order abused him all day long. This brings Meche to a seasonal ERA of 6.94, having surrendered two homers with a 1.71 WHIP.

Gil Meche was dealt his second loss of the spring on Wednesday as he allowed five runs on seven hits over five innings against Seattle, with one walk and three strikeouts. His spring numbers are still solid at 3-2 with an 3.74 ERA, and he could be counted on to lead a young Royals' rotation this season.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 3/21, 7:02 PM CT
Gil Meche pitched well on Friday as he allowed two runs, one earned, in 6.2 innings for the Royals. Meche, who singed a big contract prior to last season, had a great first year in Kansas City (3.67 ERA, 1.30 WHIP), and will look to lead a young staff again this season.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 3/15, 7:46 PM CT
Gil Meche fared well on Saturday as he held the Brewers scoreless through the first three innings. He ran into trouble after back-to-back walks in the fourth but still finished with a solid stat-line as he allowed three runs on six hits over five innings, with eight strikeouts. He needs to have a solid season for the Royals and this was a positive outing.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsWednesday 3/5, 11:28 PM CT
Gil Meche allowed two hits in three shutout innings Wednesday in a Cactus League win over the Kansas City Royals, 3-1, according to the Associated Press. Meche did not record a single strikeout but also did not allow a single runner past first base. It was Meche's second positive outing this spring who hopes to work as the catalyst for success in Kansas City this season.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 2/22, 5:41 PM CT
Gil Meche went only 9-13 last season, his first in Kansas City, though that record was more reflective of terrible run support than poor pitching, according to a report on the AP. "I’m not going to be a guy who’s going to be vocal and try to upset our hitters. Like I’ve said many times, this is the big leagues. Guys were trying.” Last season Meche received 3.92 runs of support per nine innings, the worst mark in the AL and the fourth worst mark in all of baseball. His record could easily turn around this year if he can match last year's solid work (3.67 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) in the first season of his big money contract with the Royals.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 7/20, 9:57 AM CT
Gil Meche has been tiring in the middle innings of recent starts and has altered his between-starts routine in an attempt to regain stamina. "For some reason, I've just been getting tired," Meche told the Kansas City Star. "I'm losing the stuff that I have. My last two outings, I've had my best stuff in the first three innings, and it was the same scenario back to back. I just lose it in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings." As a result, Meche will scale back on throwing between starts and during warm-ups before his starts. Meche has given up 10 earned runs in 11 innings during his last two starts and has seen his ERA creep up to 3.69 for the season.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsTuesday 5/29, 8:35 AM CT
Gil Meche threw a bullpen session on Monday and reported no problems related to his balky back. “I felt good,” Meche told the Kansas City Star. “I took some muscle relaxers to help out, and there were no problems. I will be able to go.” Meche had to leave his previous start with tightness in his back – an issue that hampered him a year ago – but is on track to start on Wednesday.

Gil Meche threw seven shutout innings on Monday, but didn’t factor into the decision during a 2-1 win over the Athletics. Meche allowed seven hits and two walks while striking out five. He now sports a record of 3-1 with a 1.91 ERA, which is good enough for third in the American League.
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 4/13, 8:50 PM CT
Gil Meche, who left Thursday's start with a tight right hamstring, did his running before Friday's game and said he was fine, according to the AP. "It's kind of a little bit sore, but no problem today," said Meche. "The max I would have gone was another inning, maybe another 15 pitches or so. Obviously, I'd have liked to have gone out. But looking back, it was probably the right decision."
Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsFriday 4/13, 9:01 AM CT

Gil Meche, P, Kansas City RoyalsMonday 4/2, 9:16 PM CT
Gil Meche was impressive in his Royals debut on Monday against Boston, hurling 7 1/3 innings while allowing only one run and recording the win. "I felt fine until I actually got across the white lines and thought to myself, 'This is opening day. This is a big deal.'"
