Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 10/18, 8:29 PM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Randy Winn would like to return to San Francisco next season. Winn will be a free-agent this winter, but the Giants appear interested in upgrading their outfield, specifically with a power-hitter.

Our View: Winn loves it in San Fran, but it seems unlikely that he will be back next season. The Giants need more offense, and it seems unlikely Winn would sign there to come off the bench. He hit only .262 with two homers and 51 RBI last season, so his best fantasy days look to be behind him.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsFriday 8/14, 3:54 PM CT
According to the San Jose Mercury News, Randy Winn is not in Friday's starting lineup.

Our View: Winn is just getting a day off as the Giants are shuffling their outfield around. Nate Schierholtz will get the start in his place. Adjust your lineups accordingly.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 7/29, 5:45 PM CT
Randy Winn's tenth inning single provided the only run of the game on Wednesday, as the Giants outlasted the Pirates 1-0 in ten innings.

Our View: Yikes. One run against the Pirates with Matt Cain going. Could be the final straw that compels to the Giants to get Pittsburgh's Freddy Sanchez.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 7/21, 9:18 PM CT
Leadoff man Randy Winn went 2-for-3 on Tuesday, but the Giants offense did little else, as San Francisco got pummeled 8-1 by the Braves.

Our View: Winn has only two home runs in 2009, but has managed to drive in 39 runs. He has very limited value in most mixed leagues.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsMonday 7/20, 9:43 PM CT
Randy Winn was productive in tonight's 11-3 loss at Atlanta, as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI. He hit a single and a double.

Our View: The Giants only had six hits in the game, but Winn managed to have a solid outing for fantasy owners. Winn snapped a six-game drought without an RBI, and is hitting .310 so far this month.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 7/11, 11:44 PM CT
Randy Winn went 2-for-4 with a run scored in tonight's 2-1 win over the Padres at AT&T Park. Both of his knocks were singles.

Our View: Winn looks to be fine after leaving Friday's game after fouling a ball off his right foot.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsFriday 7/10, 10:14 PM CT
Randy Winn exited tonight's battle with the Padres after fouling a ball off his right foot, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Nate Schierholtz replaced him in the lineup. Further details regarding Winn's injury are yet to be disclosed.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 6/21, 7:23 PM CT
Randy Winn went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 3-2 victory over the Rangers at AT&T Park. Both of his knocks were singles.

Our View: Winn was in need of a solid outing, as he only had one hit over his previous 15 at-bats. He is only hitting .250 so far this month after hitting .314 in May.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsThursday 6/11, 2:42 PM CT
The San Jose Mercury News reports that outfielder Randy Winn will get the day off on Thursday. The Giants square off with the Diamondbacks in a day game following the night game and Nate Schierholtz will make the start in right field.

Our View: Winn has been steady, but rather unspectacular this season. He has just two home runs, but he still has some speed at 35 years old. He's stolen eight bags and scored 31 times on the season.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsThursday 6/4, 6:59 PM CT
Randy Winn led the Giants in Thursday's 5-1 win at Washington, as he went 1-for-4 with a two-run double.

Our View: Winn is performing well right now, as he generated an RBI in each of his last three games, with a total of four over the span. Keep him active in fantasy lineups while hot.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 5/19, 11:49 PM CT
Randy Winn had a three hit night for the Giants on Tuesday, but he was about the only one hitting and they fell to the Padres 2-1. Winn was 3-for-4 with a double in the contest.

Our View: Winn had half of the team's six hits tonight, but they just couldn't get anything going against Padres' starter Chris Young. Winn has been better as of late, and his average now sits at .270 on the year.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 5/10, 8:23 PM CT
Randy Winn went 4-for-6 with a double, a walk, four runs scored, and two RBI in Sunday's 7-5 win over the Dodgers. He played all three outfield positions.

Our View: Winn has not done much for his fantasy owners this season as he is hitting only .243. Still, he plays nearly every game and figures to hit better going forward. If you are desperate for an outfielder, Winn would be a solid buy-low option as he could make another push at 20 stolen bases. He has four so far in 2009.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 5/2, 10:33 PM CT
Randy Winn exited Saturday's game against Colorado in the eighth inning after experiencing pain in his side.

Our View: Winn is optimistic the ailment is minor, but the Giants are yet to evaluate him and update his status.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsThursday 4/30, 9:50 AM CT
Randy Winn hopes to return to the lineup Friday against Colorado after fouling a ball off his knee in Tuesday's game, according to the Mercury News.

Our View: Winn noted that he feels as young and as fast as ever. The 34-year-old vet is off to a poor start however, with a .221 average and 18 strikeouts over 77 at-bats.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 4/29, 7:36 PM CT
Randy Winn got the night off on Wednesday after fouling a ball off of his knee in Tuesday's game. Nate Schierholtz started in his place.

Our View: Winn has eight extra base hits and three stolen bases already, but he is hitting only .221. He is not a very strong option at this point in most fantasy leagues, but the potential to make an impact is still there.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 4/25, 10:59 PM CT
Randy Winn went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI, and a run scored as the Giants beat the Diamondbacks 5-3 on Saturday.

Our View: Winn has not provided many reasons to roster him in the early going although he does have three steals and he's hit third in the order tonight. If you're in a deep league, he could be a nice buy low candidate.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsFriday 4/10, 11:26 AM CT
Randy Winn, who's gotten off to a hot 4-for-11 start with one home run and two stolen bases, apparently has the green light from manager Bruce Bochy to steal whenever he thinks he can, according to MLB.com. "Hitting third, it didn't give me as many opportunities," Winn said regarding last season. "Now, [manager Bruce Bochy] has said, 'If you get the opportunity and you think you can go, then go.' It's nice to get back to that."

Our View: After spending much of last season in the three-hole, Winn should remain San Francisco's everyday leadoff hitter as long as he stays healthy, which should provide for plenty of stolen base opportunities. He's converted on both attempts this season, was 25-of-27 in 2008 and 15-of-18 the year before, so it doesn't seem at all unrealistic to think that he could surpass 30 this season, even though he's never topped 27 before.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 3/22, 10:25 PM CT
Randy Winn went 3-for-4 from the leadoff spot in Sunday's 10-9 loss to the Brewers. He finished with a home run, three RBI, and a run scored.

Our View: The veteran is only hitting .240 this spring, but he could very well make another run at .300 this season. He has stolen 40 bases over the past two seasons, and 20 more in 2009 is not out of the question.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 3/10, 7:12 AM CT
Randy Winn is dealing with back tightness and he will rest Tuesday after playing in three straight games, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: The 34-year-old vet may not steal 25 bases again, but he should still be productive enough to use as a No. 5 outfielder.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsMonday 3/2, 12:22 AM CT
Randy Winn went 0-for-2 on Sunday with a walk and a strikeout.

Our View: It was nice for Winn to reach base on Sunday, as we thought he might have forgotten what it was like since he's been held hitless this spring.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 2/28, 9:08 PM CT
Randy Winn's rough start to the spring continued on Saturday as he went 0-for-3 for the Giants.

Our View: Winn is still hitless in the Cactus League this spring. He batted .306 last year, so fantasy owners probably shouldn't be worried, especially with five weeks left in spring training.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 9/10, 11:08 AM CT
Despite being the owner of a six-game hitting streak, and having hit in 12 of his past 14 games, Giants outfielder Randy Winn has not hit Diamondbacks hurler Dan Haren, who he faces Wednesday, very well. In his career, Winn is 4-for-29 (.138) with seven strikeouts against the Arizona right-hander.

Our View: Winn has been one of the few Giants that fantasy players have been able to count on consistently, but it may be smart to sit him for one night if you have a better option.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 8/30, 11:36 PM CT
Randy Winn went 2-for-5 with two solo homers in Saturday's close 7-6 loss to the Reds.

Our View: Winn has been hot through the month of August, and enjoyed another strong outing tonight. He should remain active in lineups heading into September.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsFriday 8/22, 7:05 AM CT
Randy Winn is hitting .500 (17-for-34) over his last eight games, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: He is also batting .442 (34-for-77) in the month of August. He should remain active in lineups down the stretch.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsFriday 8/15, 10:18 PM CT
Randy Winn was 4-for-4 with a home run in San Fran's win over Atlanta Friday. The dinger was Randy's 100th of his career.

Our View: Winn has been his usual solid self this year, hitting .302 with 22 steals to go along with six homers, 52 RBI and 65 runs scored.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsThursday 8/14, 4:49 PM CT
Randy Winn helped the Giants as much as he could with a 2-for-4 performance featuring a double and two RBI, but it wasn't enough as San Francisco lost 7-4 to Houston.

Our View: Winn's August batting average is now at .404. He is one of the few effective Giants for offensive purposes in fantasy baseball.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 8/10, 6:49 PM CT
Randy Winn went 3-for-4 for the Giants in their victory over the Dodgers, scoring a run driving in three.

Our View: Winn is hitting an absurd .432 in August, and though he won't provide much power, he'll knock in the occasional run and he also has 22 stolen bases on the year, making him an asset in all fantasy formats.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 8/6, 5:53 PM CT
Randy Winn had four singles and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over Atlanta.

Our View: Winn is batting .458 this month but hasn't homered since June 2.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 8/5, 12:04 AM CT
Randy Winn went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI in the Giants 4-2 victory over Atlanta.

Our View: Winn is a solid fantasy option, as he has stolen 21 bases, and has been caught just once.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 8/3, 8:56 PM CT
Randy Winn, back in the third hole with Fred Lewis getting a day off, had two hits, knocked in a run and stole his 21st base of the season on Sunday.

Our View: Has there been a quieter 20-SB season this year? Winn was expected to be moved at the deadline, and while that didn't happen he could still switch teams through the waiver-wire process, a move that could potentially reinvigorate the right fielder.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 7/30, 11:52 PM CT
Randy Winn had two hits for the Giants on Wednesday night which could be his last in a San Francisco uniform.

Our View: Winn's name hasn't come up in many trade rumors, but he is on the block as the Giants are attempting to get younger. It certainly hasn't helped his value that he has hit .232 in July, but many teams could use his veteran presence.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsFriday 7/25, 5:22 PM CT
The New York Yankees have been scouting San Francisco Giants outfielder Randy Winn, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View: Winn is 34, but may be able to help the Yankees, who have been hit hard by injuries. His fantasy value would go up slightly because he could score a few more runs in New York, which would make him an option in AL-only leagues.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsMonday 7/14, 7:15 AM CT
Randy Winn got a second day off due to his bruised knee, but the club expects him to be fine to return to the lineup on Friday after the All-Star break, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: Winn only belted five homers, but is hitting .285 with 48 runs scored and 18 stolen bases, and should remain a favorable outfielder in mixed-leagues when he comes back.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 7/12, 1:31 PM CT
Randy Winn has been held out of the Giants' lineup Saturday due to his bruised right knee, according to Giants.com. Skipper Bruce Bochy said, "I'm hoping he can play Sunday. I'm hoping before the end of the game he feels good enough to pinch-hit. Randy Winn is one of the better players in the game, and one of the more underrated players."

Our View: John Bowker replaced Winn in the outfield, and Rich Aurilia covered first base. Winn is day-to-day.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsFriday 7/11, 2:36 PM CT
Randy Winn apparently injured his knee when he fouled a ball off of it during Friday action.

Our View: As of now, consider him day-to-day. We will keep you posted when more details are known.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsSaturday 6/28, 12:10 AM CT
Randy Winn went 1-for-4 and mustered the Giants' only RBI in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Athletics.

Our View: He collected his 33rd RBI of the season, with 14 coming in June. He maintains a .302 average and remains a serviceable fantasy outfielder in NL-only and larger mixed-leagues.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 6/22, 7:41 PM CT
Randy Winn had four hits, two runs scored and three RBI for the Giants on Sunday. Winn also stole his 11th base of the season and is hitting .311 overall.

Our View: With each outing like this, the cost of acquiring Winn in a trade continues to increase. Some team will eventually come a calling and the Giants will almost certainly oblige which could lead to increased fantasy value for Winn depending on where he ends up.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 6/18, 10:26 AM CT
The Braves could be interested in acquiring Randy Winn before the July 31 trade deadline, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Our View: The list of suitors won't end with the Braves. Winn will likely be a hot commodity as July 31 approaches, and there's a chance he'll end up in a good situation to help fantasy teams. His stock could rise.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsThursday 5/29, 11:58 PM CT
Randy Winn entered the game with just two home runs on the season, so of course he went out and hit two, one from each side of the plate, in the Giants comeback victory over the D'backs.

Our View: Winn is a name that will likely be brought up in talks once we get closer to the trade deadline as he brings a professional at-bat night after night, a trait that many teams certainly wouldn't mind having. He continues to be a decent fourth or fifth outfield option in deep mixed leagues.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsMonday 5/19, 10:57 PM CT
Randy Winn extended his hitting streak to 14-games on Monday night with a home run, and he added another hit later in the game to finish the contest with a .299 average.

Our View: Given the plight of the Giants, it wouldn't be a shock to see Winn wearing another uniform at some point this season as it's clear he can still provide a professional bat on most nights.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 4/16, 12:46 PM CT
Randy Winn has fared well over his career against Brandon Webb, tonight's opposing hurler for Arizona, according to MLB.com. Winn is hitting 12-for-28 against the D-Backs' ace.

Our View: His record should keep him in the Giants lineup for tonight.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 4/16, 10:01 AM CT
Veteran Randy Winn is aware that the team wants to go younger in their outfield and he could ultimately lose starts to John Bowker, according to the SF Chronicle. Winn noted, "We'll see what happens. This year they said they were going to go with younger players, and they're doing it. I think it's not a big surprise. If they come to me, I'll have a better answer for you. Right now, I'm just going with the flow."

Our View: Winn is performing favorably, but Bowker has more upside and looked great at times in the early going.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 4/15, 12:55 AM CT
Randy Winn went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs, two RBI, and two steals in Monday's win over the Diamondbacks. He hit leadoff for the second time this season.

Our View: It's pretty rare to see Winn swipe two bags. In fact, he hadn't pulled off that feat since July 24, 2004. We don't believe it's the start of something new for the veteran.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 4/6, 2:43 PM CT
Randy Winn missed Sunday action due to an ankle bruise, according to MLB.com. The Giants' outfield was already playing without Aaron Rowand today, and Eugenio Velez replaced Winn in the lineup. He may be able to return on Monday.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsTuesday 3/11, 10:19 AM CT
Randy Winn could be on the trading block for the Giants, according to MetsBlog.com. The Giants are reportedly shopping several players, and feel that Wynn would be a solid fit for the Mets as they will be without Moises Alou until May.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 3/9, 8:47 AM CT
It turns out that the foul ball that hit Randy Winn's leg Friday missed his knee and hit his shin, according to the Contra Costa Times. "I wish I didn't do it at all," he said, "but if it had to hit somewhere, better the shin than the knee." He should be back in action soon.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsFriday 3/7, 11:23 PM CT
Randy Winn fouled a pitch off his left knee in the third inning of Friday's win over the Oakland A's, this according to the team website. The foul ball caused a contusion that probably will sideline him for at least two days. Winn was concerned that the injury could be just as bad as the one he suffered in 2006, and after the game talked to the media. "I'm hoping it's not the same (2006 injury)," Winn said. San Fran fantasy personnel are drawing little attention this March. Winn's value rests in NL-only formats.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsMonday 7/16, 7:53 AM CT
Randy Winn missed Sunday's game after fouling a ball off his right ankle the night before. The joint was sore and swollen Sunday, though Winn said he was day-to-day, according to the Contra Costa Times. Look for him to be a game-time call on Monday.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 7/15, 12:56 AM CT

Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsThursday 5/10, 3:50 AM CT

Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsFriday 5/4, 2:46 AM CT
Randy Winn was bumped up to the No. 2 spot in the order Thursday and went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and one RBI. Omar Vizquel, meanwhile, was shifted to the No. 8 spot.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 4/11, 10:52 PM CT
Randy Winn got the night off Wednesday and will rest again on Friday, according to the AP. Manager Bruce Bochy said he wants Winn, who is hitting just .172 so far this year, to "freshen up".
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsSunday 4/8, 12:18 AM CT
Randy Winn moved up to second in the batting order Saturday after hitting eighth in the first four games, the AP reports. Manager Bruce Bochy wanted some speed at the top of the lineup with slugger Barry Bonds and SS Omar Vizquel resting. Winn went 0-for-4 i the loss to the Dodgers.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 3/28, 9:27 AM CT

Randy Winn missed his second straight game Sunday with a strained left calf.
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 9/6, 8:07 AM CT
A bruised right elbow kept Randy Winn from taking part in last night's game, according to the Contra Costa Times. He sustained the injury when he was hit by a pitch the day before. "I guess it's what you would expect from getting hit with a 90-mile-an-hour fastball," Winn said. "It's swollen, but it's all right."
Randy Winn, RF, San Francisco GiantsWednesday 8/30, 8:00 AM CT
Giants trainer Stan Conte said that Randy Winn's knee has "bothered him on and off" since fouling a ball off it in May, according to the Contra Costa Times. "We're not calling it an injury," manager Felipe Alou said. Winn was held out of the starting lineup yesterday but should return to action today.
