Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 12/18, 12:48 PM CT
The Phillies have chosen to exercise their $8.5 million option on Jimmy Rollins for the 2011 season.

Our View: The former MVP had a down season last year but is still one of the best all-around shortstops in the game, making it far from surprising that Philadelphia would opt to lock him up for another year.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 10/19, 11:10 PM CT
Phillies' shortstop Jimmy Rollins was the hero in Philly on Monday as the Phillies came back in the ninth to beat the Dodgers 5-4. Rollins hit a two-run double with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to give the Phillies the win and a 3-1 series lead.

Our View: It looked like the Phils were done tonight, but Rollins will live on forever after his walk-off winner off Dodgers' closer Jonathan Broxton. The Phils are clicking on all cylinders, and they look poised to head back to the World Series for the second straight season.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 9/27, 5:27 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins carried the Phillies to a 6-5 win over the Brewers on Sunday with a 3-for-5 performance that included his 21st home run of the season.

Our View: Rollins has struggled this season with just a .247 average, but he did reach the 20-homer/30-stolen base plateau for the third time in his career.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 9/24, 10:59 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins led the way for the Phillies on Thursday as they pounded the Brewers by a score of 9-4. Rollins went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and three RBI.

Our View: J-Roll continues his smoking hot second half, and he looks to be ready for the postseason. The Phils are still battling for home-field advantage, so they need every win they can get.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 9/18, 10:17 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins helped lead the Phillies in tonight's 9-4 win at Atlanta, as he went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer off Vladimir Nunez.

Our View: Rollins has a hit in four straight games, with five RBI over the span. He hit his second homer of September, and needs one more to reach 20 for the season.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 9/17, 9:20 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins went 2-for-4 with his 67th RBI and 29th steal on Thursday, as Cole Hamels and the Phillies shut-down the Nationals 4-2 at home.

Our View: Rollins is now batting .271 since the All-Star break, after hitting just .229 before it.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 9/2, 9:05 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins went 2-for-4 on Wednesday and was the only Phillie to record multiple hits in the 4-0 loss to the Giants.

Our View: Rollins had ten multi-hit games in August and has rolled right into September with another one in Wednesday's game. He's been disappointing this season overall, but has been worth playing since June 1st.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 8/27, 8:56 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins went 3-for-5 with a stolen base on Thursday, but couldn't propel the Phils past the Bucs, as Philadelphia lost 3-2 in Pittsburgh.

Our View: Rollins' first-half struggles are but a distant memory, as the elite shortstop has posted a .282 post All-Star average to go along with ten home runs and nine steals.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 8/25, 9:45 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins stayed smoking hot on Tuesday, as he homered twice in the Phillies' 6-4 loss to the Pirates. Rollins went 2-for-5 with the homers, two runs scored, and two RBI in the game.

Our View: J-Roll has just killed the ball in the second half, and it doesn't look like he will be slowing down any time soon. He contributes something to fantasy owners nearly every night, and he should continue to do so for the rest of the season, even if he can't keep up this pace.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 8/24, 9:38 AM CT
Jimmy Rollins is getting the day off on Monday, according to the Twitter page of beat writer Todd Zolecki. Eric Bruntlett will start in place of Rollins at shortstop.

Our View: Rollins is just getting the day off, and it looks like the team is giving Sunday's triple play hero a chance to start. J-Roll has been on a tear in the second half, and he is really starting to pay dividends for those who drafted him.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 8/21, 10:59 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins was 2-for-5 with a stolen base in the Phillies' 4-2 loss to the Mets on Friday.

Our View: Rollins continued his second half surge with another multi-hit game Friday. He's now hitting just below .300 for the month with five homers.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 8/12, 10:25 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins hit the first of two Phillie three run bombs in the fourth inning on Wednesday night, as the Phils easily bested the Cubs 12-5 at Wrigley Field.

Our View: At .246, Rollins' average is now as high as it has been all season (save for opening day), and he is again producing like one of the game's top shortstops.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 8/6, 3:37 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins continued his second half resurgence on Thursday, going 3-for-4 and needing just the long ball to complete the cycle. He scored two of the Phillies three runs as they dispatched the Rockies 3-1 behind Cliff Lee.

Our View: Rollins now has a 12 game hitting streak and has upped his average from .205 to .245 since the beginning of July. During his hit streak he's also belted five homers and driven in 13.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 8/4, 10:10 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins went 2-for-5 with a home run, a run scored, and two RBI in the Phillies' 8-3 loss to the Rockies. Rollins now has 12 homers on the season.

Our View: Rollins is starting to pick it up at the plate as of late, and he is finally starting to pull his weight for fantasy owners. If he keeps hitting, the Phillies could be even more dangerous down the stretch this season.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 8/2, 8:31 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins was 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the Phillies' 7-3 loss to the Giants on Sunday.

Our View: Rollins now has 11 homers on the season, but is still just hitting a measly .239. His performance this year, although better lately, still has to be considered a fantasy disappointment.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 7/25, 7:23 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins hit a go-ahead grand slam and tied a career high with five RBI in the Phillies 14-6 drubbing of the Cardinals on Saturday. He finished the day 2-for-5

Our View: Rollins is hitting just .237 this season, but is hitting .340 in July. He's also been racking up the RBI lately with 16 already this month.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 7/21, 9:58 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins' home run on Tuesday made if three straight games with an RBI for the superstar shortstop, and his two hits marked the the ninth time this month he's had a multiple hit game.

Our View: Rollins has upped his average from .205 on July 1 to .238, and has hit safely in every game this month but two.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 7/19, 3:33 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins went 3-for-5 with an RBI on Sunday, as the Phillies beat the Marlins 5-0 to earn their eighth straight victory.

Our View: After his horrid start to the season, and many false slump breakouts, Rollins has now hit safely in 13 of the Phillies 15 games this month, and raised his average 31 points in the process. It looks as if finally, for real this time, he has shaken his prolonged slump.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 7/7, 9:20 PM CT
One day after going 3-for-4 with four runs scored, Jimmy Rollins was back to his struggling ways on Tuesday, going 1-for-5 with two strikeouts as the Phillies lost 4-3 to the Reds.

Our View: Rollins' 2009 is simply a lost season. It's impossible to predict when, if ever, he'll break out, and you could be best served by exploring alternate options to the former MVP.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 7/4, 6:22 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins reached base three times and drove in two runs on Saturday, as the Phillies beat the Mets 4-1 in Philadelphia.

Our View: Rollins is still having a miserable 2009 season, and has shown signs of emerging from his slump before, only to struggle even more. Until he puts together seven or eight good games in a ten game stretch, he cannot be declared out of his slump and good to start every day.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 7/2, 9:30 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles in tonight's 5-2 loss at Atlanta.

Our View: Rollins finally had a solid outing, as he was hitless over his previous seven games (27 at-bats). He has been among the most disappointing fantasy players of 2009, as he holds an anemic .209 batting average.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 7/1, 8:59 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins went hitless for the seventh straight game on Wednesday as the Phillies got blown out 11-1 by Atlanta.

Our View: Rollins' miserable 2009 continues, as the former MVP is now batting just .205 through 70 starts. It is reasonable to believe he will turn it around at some point, but if you have an extra shortstop, you should bench Rollins until he proves he has shook his awful beginning.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 6/30, 5:16 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins is set to return to the Phillies' lineup tonight after sitting out the last four games, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: He is stuck in an 0-for-19 slump and was riding the pine to get away and clear his head. He will bat leadoff tonight against the Braves, and hopefully he will get back on the right track.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 6/28, 1:07 PM CT
According to the Globe and Mail, Jimmy Rollins, mired in the worst slump of his career, will remain on the bench until Tuesday.

Our View: Rollins is 0 for his last 19 and even though the team has said he won't lose his leadoff job, they can't go on with him the way he's currently producing. Owners should keep him on the bench until he re-proves his worth.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 6/26, 2:09 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins will still be the Phillies leadoff hitter when he returns from his day two benching designed to break his slump, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Our View: Rollins has been mired in the worst slump of his career for most of 2009. If the Phils latest tactic to pull him out of it doesn't work, they may have to consider dropping him in the order for good.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 6/25, 5:31 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins will not be in the lineup tonight or tomorrow, according to the Associated Press, as manager Charlie Manuel wants him to "sit and watch and relax."

Our View: He could apparently be out a few more games after that even. He is not hurt, just slumping mightily. He is hitless in his last 19 at-bats, and batting just .211 with six homers and 27 RBIs in 68 games this season.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 6/18, 4:24 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins hit his second home run in four games and collected three hits on Thursday, but it wasn't enough as the Phillies fell 8-7 to the Blue Jays.

Our View: Rollins has finally begun to show signs of consistent offensive production the last two weeks after beginning the season with one of the worst slumps of his career. If you have been benching him, it might be time to being reinserting him into your starting lineup.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 6/10, 4:55 PM CT
Phillies beat writer Todd Zolecki reports on his Twitter page that shortstop Jimmy Rollins will be back in the leadoff spot when the Phillies play the Mets on Wednesday night. Rollins had been hitting sixth for the past two games.

Our View: Rollins went 5-for-8 during those two games, so it appears manager Charlie Manuel's ploy may have worked. Rollins is still batting just .230 for the season, however.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 6/8, 9:29 AM CT
The Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting that Phillies' shortstop Jimmy Rollins discovered a glitch in his swing while studying video over the weekend. Rollins has been struggling all season, but he feels like he is popping the ball up because of the mechanical flaw.

Our View: Rollins seems confident that he has solved his problem, but it remains to be seen how long it will take him to get his swing back. He said that his swing is flat, which is causing him to pop everything up. Rollins owners are hoping for any good news at this point, so don't lose confidence in J-Roll just yet.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 6/6, 1:53 PM CT
According to Phillies' beat writer Todd Zolecki, Jimmy Rollins is not in the lineup on Saturday.

Our View: Rollins will be replaced by Eric Bruntlett. He's hitting seventh. No word as to why Rollins is out. It's likely just an off day.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 5/22, 9:32 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins was 2-for-4 with a home run, a stolen base, an RBI, a run scored, and a walk in Friday's 7-3 game.

Our View: Rollins has hits in ten of his last eleven games and he has 17 hits in that stretch. He seems to have put his slump behind him and should be a strong play going forward.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 5/17, 5:07 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins went 2-for-5 with a run scored, and an RBI in Sunday's 8-6 win over the Nationals. He was 1-for-2 on his stolen base attempts.

Our View: Rollins has six hits in his last three games and at least one hit in each of his last seven. Perhaps even better news is that he has attempted seven steals in those games. Then again, he has been caught four times.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 5/12, 3:40 PM CT
In a move to try to get him out of his season-long slump, Phillies' manager Jerry Manuel is hitting Jimmy Rollins fifth in Tuesday's game.

Our View: Manuel tried this earlier this season, so we will see if it works this time. Rollins has been unspeakably bad so far this season, so any kind of shake-up can't be a bad thing. It may be a good time to buy low on Rollins if you think he is going to turn it around.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 5/2, 2:12 PM CT
Manager Jerry Manuel will try something new on Saturday. Shortstop Jimmy Rollins is listed as the No. 5 hitter behind Ryan Howard. Rollins is hitting .198 on the season.

Our View: The media will surely ask Manuel about the change, and we'll then know if this move is permanent or just a one-day shake-up. We're guessing it's just a short-term move to try to spark Rollins.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 4/28, 10:07 AM CT
Jimmy Rollins predicts a big May and intends to hit .400 in the month, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Rollins said, "I felt good, ready to rock and roll."

Our View: Rollins is currently stuck in a slump, as he is hitting .192 over 72 at-bats. This is encouraging news that he is confident that he will break out and get on track soon.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 4/26, 10:15 AM CT
Shortstop Jimmy Rollins is not in the lineup for Sunday's tilt against the Marlins, the Miami Herald notes. Eric Bruntlett will start in his place and hit second.

Our View: Rollins is hitting .162 with zero steals thus far, and we figure he is simply getting a day off. Maybe he can use the time to watch 2006 tape of himself.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 4/19, 3:33 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins did not start for Philadelphia for the first time this season but actually logged his best fantasy performance of the year, belting a pinch-hit home run off San Diego's Edward Mujica in the eighth inning.

Our View: Rollins has been struggling mightily out of the gates this season but remains a guy that you'd be ill advised to sell low on; hopefully his first home run of the year can jump-start his production.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 4/16, 9:23 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins went 0-for-3 against Washington on Thursday, dipping his batting average to .111 on the season.

Our View: Rollins did muster an RBI off a sacrifice fly, but with just three RBI, two runs and zero stolen bases on the season, fantasy owners have to be a bit worried that his down year in 2008 was no fluke. Still, his BABIP is abnormally low at sub-.150, so you have to assume his luck will start to even out and that he'll start getting back on base like he's been able to in the past.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 3/30, 4:45 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins was 2-for-4 with a solo home run, and RBI, and two runs scored in Monday's 13-3 win over Houston.

Our View: Rollins looks to be doing just fine against major league pitching after his long stint with Team USA in the WBC. He should be in line for a very good year and is still considered among the Top 3 players at his position.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 3/22, 10:49 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins went 4-for-4 with a triple, a walk, a stolen base, and a run scored as Team USA fell to Japan 9-4 on Sunday. He played the whole game at DH while Derek Jeter manned shortstop.

Our View: Rollins has had an all-around excellent tournament and should be in line for a hot start to the season. As long as he can avoid the nagging injuries that plagued him last season, he could challenge the best at his position in fantasy in 2009.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 3/17, 10:52 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins was 0-for-2 in Team USA's walk-off win Tuesday, but he wreaked havoc on the base paths drawing two walks, swiping two bases and scoring a run.

Our View: Even though he went hitless in the contest, Rollins is still batting .333 in the WBC and seems poised to step up his game after what was considered a down year for him last season following his MVP campaign.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 3/15, 10:39 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins was 2-for-4 with a triple, a home run, four RBI, and two runs scored as Team USA defeated the Netherlands 9-3 on Sunday. He played all nine innings at shortstop.

Our View: With Jeter DH-ing, Rollins was able to get a full game under his belt, and it clearly paid off for his team. He noted earlier this spring that he played most of last season with back pain, but he is healthy and ready to perform in 2009. Given the dearth of talented offensive shortstops, look for Rollins' name to come off the draft boards early.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 3/4, 8:18 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Jimmy Rollins has been dealing with backpain since late last season. He played all nine innings for Team USA on Wednesday.

Our View: Rollins' numbers dropped off last season, but he still managed 47 steals. He feels fine enough to play full-time in the World Baseball Classic so don't expect him to land on the DL any time soon. There's a chance he does take more days of rest this season.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 3/4, 5:09 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins doubled and drove two runs for Team USA in Wednesday's loss to the Blue Jays. He was 1-for-5 on the day.

Our View: Rollins' overall numbers from his MVP season aren't likely to return, but he's great for runs and steals and should still be a top-5 fantasy shortstop.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 2/26, 3:09 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins went 1-for-3 with an RBI single in Thursday's 6-2 loss to the Blue Jays.

Our View: Rollins is worth drafting as a top-3 fantasy shortstop, and should namely be a strong source for runs and stolen bases.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 11/8, 3:25 PM CT
Any rumors that the Phillies were willing to take offers on shortstop Jimmy Rollins were shot down by new GM Ruben Amaro, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "Jimmy Rollins is our shortstop, for now and the future. That rumor is unequivocally false," said Amaro.

Our View: Rollins had a down year compared to 2007, but he still performed adequately for the Phillies and fantasy owners, with a .277 average, 11 homers, 59 RBI and 47 steals.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 10/26, 10:57 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins broke out of a slump in Game 3 but took it up a notch in Game 4 of the World Series. The Phillies' leadoff hitter was 3-for-5 with three runs scored as they defeated the Rays 10-2 on Sunday.

Our View: Rollins had only three hits in his past 33 at-bats prior to Game 3. Since then he is 5-for-9 with four runs scored.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 10/23, 10:47 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins went 0-for-5 as the Phillies fell 2-4 to the Rays in Game 2 of the World Series. He is now has just three hits in his last 33 at-bats.

Our View: The Phillies need their leadoff hitter and former MVP to get it going back home in Philadelphia if they hope to win this series.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 10/16, 12:12 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins is batting just .243 with a .300 OBP as the Phillies head into the World Series.

Our View: Rollins is the sparkplug that the team derives its excitement from, and though they have managed to be successful despite his less than great work at the plate, one would have to think he will need to crank his game up a notch if the club is to emerge as World Champions.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 10/12, 10:40 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins was 0-for-4 on Sunday in Game 3 and is now just 1-for-13 in the NLCS. The shortstop struck out twice on the night.

Our View: Rollins is a good hitter who picked a terrible time to go into a slump. The Phillies need their catalyst in order to win two of the next four games and reach the World Series.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 9/20, 10:44 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins had a tough night at the plate in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Marlins, as he went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts.

Our View: Rollins should bounce back heading into the final week of the season, as he registered multiple hits in three of his last six games. His runs scored (73) and homers (11) have been down this season, but is only three stolen bases away from setting a new high (currently has 44).
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 9/14, 10:15 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins went 2-for-2 with a runs scored and two RBI for the Phillies in the second game of a double header with the Brewers after going hitless in the opener.

Our View: Rollins, who has 42 SB, was caught for just the third time this season by Jason Kendall. He is certainly doing his part to help the Phillies make the playoffs by hitting .365 in 12 September games.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 9/13, 6:31 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins carried the Phillies in Saturday's 7-3 win over the Brewers, as he went 3-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored. He hit a single, a double, and a homer, his 11th of the season.

Our View: Rollins has registered multiple hits in four of his last five games, and is hitting .476 (10-for-21) over the span.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 9/7, 10:31 PM CT
Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins went 1-for-10 in both games of his team's doubleheader against the Mets. Rollins went 1-for-5 in game one, but went hitless in five at-bats in the second game, a 6-3 Mets victory.

Our View: Rollins came into the second game of the doubleheader with a seven-game hitting streak, but saw that disappear.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 9/1, 10:47 AM CT
Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins, fresh off a mediocre August in which he hit .263, may not start September off much better, considering the troubles he has had hitting Tim Redding, who will pitch for the Nationals in Monday's game against Philadelphia. Rollins is just 5-for-30 (.167) with one extra-base hit off Redding in his career.

Our View: Rollins has been one of the biggest disappointments of the year for fantasy owners, but maybe a big September can salvage some of it.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 8/26, 11:48 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins had a big night Tuesday, going 5-for-7 with a homer, three RBI and three steals in the Phillies' extra innings win over the Mets.

Our View: That's eight hits in the last two games for J-Roll. Hopefully he's snapped out of his slump.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 8/25, 9:28 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins may have broken out of his month-long slump by going 3-for-3 with one walk, a run scored and two RBI in Philly's 5-0 win over the Dodgers.

Our View: Rollins came in batting under .200 for the month, and he doubled his RBI total for August with his two on Monday. The former MVP still needs to pick up the pace a bit.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 8/24, 11:33 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins is not having a good August. First, he criticized Phillies fans for the constant booing, and now his performance is suffering. Rollins went 0-for-5 in the Phillies 5-2 win over the Dodgers, and his batting average in August fell below .200.

Our View: Rollins is 17-for-89 in August with no home runs and a frighteningly low RBI total of two. Fantasy owners have to be hugely disappointed following his magnificent 2007 campaign.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 8/14, 10:36 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins is getting a little tired of the constant booing by Philadelphia fans, and he would like the crowd to give his squad some support, according to Phillies.com. Rollins cited a number of examples, including one about when he got hurt earlier this year. "I went down and Eric Bruntlett came in and played. He got booed his first time out there, because he made two errors in New York. Then they're on his side after he comes through with some big hits. You should be there from Day 1, because he's going to be the guy out there for 25 games."

Our View: Here's betting Rollins gets roundly booed the next time he steps to the plate in Philly.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 8/9, 9:04 PM CT
The Phillies took full advantage of a lackluster effort from Pittsburgh, getting the 4-2 win over the Pirates with a strong effort from shortstop Jimmy Rollins . Rollins went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, hitting two triples and stealing his 29th base of the season to total two runs scored on the night.

Our View: Rollins has struggled a bit in the early battles of August, hitting jut .231 with no RBIs and just one run scored coming into tonight's battle. If he finds his groove, he should continue to produce quality numbers fantasy owners can enjoy.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 8/9, 11:35 AM CT
Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins has been struggling a bit in August, but he could break out of that tonight when Philly takes on Pittsburgh and pitcher Ian Snell. Rollins has Snell's number, with a career .533 average (8-for-15) off of him. Among his eight hits are one home run, one double and two triples.

Our View: Rollins' August has consisted of a .231 average, but he has been getting on base, posting a .412 OBP. Be sure he is in your fantasy lineup tonight.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 8/3, 10:56 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins went 0-for-5 on Sunday to drop his average to .263, a far cry from the .296 mark he posted last season during his MVP performance.

Our View: Rollins didn't put up a hit in three games against the Cardinals this weekend going 0-for-11. Rollins simply has to get hot at some point, doesn't he?
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 8/1, 10:57 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins may have no power this season, but he continues to steal bases at a high rate as he swiped his 27th base of the season on Friday night.

Our View: Rollins is only batting .270 with just eight home runs in 346 AB, but his OBP is actually only .002 points behind the mark he posted in his MVP season last year (.334).
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 7/27, 11:30 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins was 2-for-4 with a home run and a stolen base in the Phillies 12-10 win over the Braves on Sunday. He scored three times in the victory.

Our View: As previously mentioned, Rollins is clutch and will likely heat up as the games take on more meaning. Look for his .271 batting average to climb sharply going forward.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 7/24, 5:40 PM CT
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Jimmy Rollins didn't start for the Phillies on Thursday because he was late to the ballpark. He left after the team bus, as he usually does, and was late due to traffic issues.

Our View: While he let fantasy owners down today, this is still good news that he didn't miss the game due to an injury.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 7/24, 11:29 AM CT
Jimmy Rollins is not in Thursday's lineup.

Our View: It is unknown if Rollins suffered an injury or is simply taking the day off.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 7/22, 10:43 PM CT
Reigning MVP Jimmy Rollins delivered a two-run double in the ninth on Tuesday against the Mets in a six run inning. It was his only hit of the night, but it came at a critical time.

Our View: It is safe to bet that as the games take on more meaning, Rollins' production will increase.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 7/6, 9:37 PM CT
On Sunday, Jimmy Rollins stole his 35th straight base, going back to last August. He was 2-for-5 with a walk.

Our View: Rollins is 21-for-21 this season and owners no doubt he will become even more aggressive on the base paths.

Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 6/14, 8:51 PM CT
The Phillies are banking on the rise they believe is coming, sooner or later, from shortstop Jimmy Rollins , according to MLB.com.

Our View: The team is discussing Rollins openly in the press after going 6-for-32 on this road trip and 0-for-8 in their series with the St. Louis Cardinals, also noting he was the only member of the lineup not to record a hit on Friday when the Phils sprayed 21 hits around Busch Stadium. Getting Rollins rolling while Pat Burrell is hot would be entertaining and productive, something this offense desperately needs.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 6/12, 9:51 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins had two hits on Thursday which led to a run scored and his 12th stolen base of the season.

Our View: Rollins has hits in 5-straight games, though in the previous four games he had only one hit. Still, it's nice to see him healthy and running again. Don't worry, the swing is almost back where it needs to be.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 6/5, 7:58 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins was removed from the Phillies game on Thursday after failing to run out a pop-up, and after the game he didn't shy away from the media, according to MLB.com. "He has two rules -- be on time and hustle; and I broke one of them today," Rollins said of manager Charlie Manuel. "I know better. Sometimes the manager gets you. I just have to go out there and make sure I don't do it again."

Our View: Rollins further cemented his reputation as a stand up guy by admitting his guilt and taking full responsibility. Whether or not he will be in the lineup for the Phillies next game isn't certain, but we wouldn't be surprised to see him out there because of the way he handled things after making the mistake.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 6/5, 1:59 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins may have been benched, according to Philly.com. Rollins hit a pop fly into shallow left field with two outs and a runner on second in the third inning this afternoon at Citizens Bank Park. The ball was dropped, and Rollins only got to first, while he should have reached second. Rollins took the field in the top of the fourth inning, but was gone by the top of the fifth.

Our View: It was initially reported that he suffered an undisclosed injury, but now there is speculation that he may have been benched. We should know the real story following the game.

Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 5/19, 6:50 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins suffered a scare on Sunday when he tweaked his left ankle, but on Monday he reported that he was fine, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Rollins should continue to man the shortstop position for the Phillies, something he has done extremely well while on the field considering his .342 average, but it will be interesting to see if he curtails his running to make sure his ankle is healed.

Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 5/9, 9:38 AM CT
Jimmy Rollins remains on target to rejoin the Phillies in San Francisco tonight, according to MetsBlog. He missed a month due to his sprained ankle.

Our View: As previously reported, the Phillies said Rollins' arrival in San Francisco does not guarantee he will be activated before the game. So, wait for the green light before penciling him back into your lineups.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 5/8, 3:04 PM CT

Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 5/2, 7:44 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins won't be ready for Monday's game, the first day he's eligible to be activated from the disabled list, but the Phillies shortstop is hoping to be ready for Thursday's series finale against the D-backs, this according to MLB.com. "Mother's Day is coming up," Rollins said, referring to playing next Sunday in San Francisco, where his mother and biggest fan, Gigi Rollins, will be in the stands.

Our View: Rollins ran the bases on Thursday, and did some additional running on Friday. If all goes well, Rollins will return on Thursday, Sunday at the latest.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 5/1, 10:46 AM CT
Jimmy Rollins still feels discomfort in his sprained left ankle, namely when he rounds the bases, and now it seems unlikely he will be activated from the DL on Monday in Arizona, according to the Philadelphia Enquirer. Rollins is trying to be cautious. If he comes back too quickly, before the ankle heals, he could injury it more severely, which could affect the season or his career. Rollins said, "Don't treat it right and I've got a bad ankle for the rest of my career, too. That's not good. When I'm ready, I'll be up on that lineup board."

Our View: Rollins was previously on track for a Monday return, and this is disappointing news for fantasy owners.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 4/30, 6:51 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins is eligible to return from his sprained ankle on Monday, but that doesn't mean he will be activated for the Phillies game against the Diamondbacks, according to MLB.com. "I heard that [Tuesday] when he made turns, he kind of felt it," manager Charlie Manuel said.

Our View: The team wants Rollins to play four of five minor league games to get his timing back and to feel confident that he is over the injury which might push his return back to later next week.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 4/28, 11:51 AM CT
Jimmy Rollins is eligible to come off the DL on May 5, and he has been taking batting and infield practice in Clearwater while the Phillies were on their recently completed road trip, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. GM Pat Gillick stated that he would like to get Rollins three or four rehab starts before he is activated, but that there is no set plan for when those assignments might begin. Scott Sheridan added, "We'll evaluate him today. Obviously, he's been doing well and we'll see where he's at, but I don't have a rehab schedule or anything set up. Seeing is believing."

Our View: The Phillies are in third place in the NL East with a 14-12 record, and Rollins is needed back soon, especially since fellow stud Ryan Howard is not carrying his weight right now as a hitter.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 4/24, 12:22 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins will take batting practice in Clearwater, Florida today, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. He is eligible to come off the DL on May 5.

Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 4/23, 6:27 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins may not have a sprained ankle, it might actually be broken, according to a report on Off The Record.

Our View: Wow. If true, this could be devastating news that would likely keep Rollins out of action for at least a month. Given the fact that things have gone less than well so far as the team tries to get a handle on this injury, it would certainly seem possible that Rollins is more injured than we have been led to believe.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 4/21, 6:23 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins, currently on the DL, apparently re-injured his ankle while pinch-hitting on Saturday, this according to MLB.com. "I had a chance to pinch-hit, then I take the first swing and I'm a one-legged hitter after that," Rollins said. Here is what assistant GM Ruben Amaro Jr. had to say. "[Rollins] was not going to go up there and pinch-hit had he not felt good enough to pinch-hit...In retrospect, of course it was a mistake."

Our View: The bottom line here is that the team totally botched this one. Now they will be without Rollins for two more weeks when he probably would be just about back on the field if they had just placed him on the DL when he initially hurt his ankle.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 4/20, 4:26 PM CT
Shortstop Jimmy Rollins is headed to the disabled list for the first time in his eight-year Major League career, this according to MLB.com. The Phillies announced before Sunday's finale of a three-game series against the Mets that Rollins was placed on the 15-day DL.

His sprained ankle continues to bother him, and Manager Charlie Manuel noted that the ankle is at about 75% right now. Rollins could miss a few more days and commented, "I know I'm not ready, so it really doesn't bother me that much. If I felt I was ready and couldn't get clearance, then that would be a different story, but I know I'm not where I need to be. My plan is to stay off it as much as I can."

Our View: Eric Bruntlett will continue to cover shortstop until he can return.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 4/18, 11:22 AM CT
Jimmy Rollins underwent an MRI on Thursday to check out his sprained left ankle. "The MRI results basically confirmed exactly what we were treating him for," assistant general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. tells the Philadelphia Inquirer. "He's got a sprained ankle, and he's healing and he's doing quite well." Rollins is currently away from the team due to the death of his uncle. He will rejoin the team on Saturday and possibly play this weekend.

Our View: Fantasy owners should keep Rollins out until we have better news about him returning to action.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 4/17, 2:31 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins may have pinch hit last night but his ankle continues to bother him, this according to MLB.com. Besides that issue there is also a death in the family, so the decision has been made to hold Rollins out of action until at least Sunday.

Our View: Rollins is using a hyperbaric chamber to improve his ability to recover, but the bottom line is that he is out until at least Sunday, so continue to make other arrangements until he returns to action.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 4/16, 8:26 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins pinch hit in the ninth inning for the Phillies and was able to pick up a single before being lifted in favor of pinch-runner So Taguchi.

Our View: Well, at least he made it on the field for an AB, but this ankle injury has already taken far too long to heal if you ask Rollins owners. Just because he pinch hit tonight does not mean he will be in the starting lineup for the Phils next game; that decision still has not yet been made.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 4/16, 9:23 AM CT
Jimmy Rollins commented that he is still feeling discomfort in his sprained left ankle, according to the Philadelphia Enquirer. It remained unclear when he could return to the lineup, and he added, "It's not moving to my left. It's changing directions after I've gone left. That's where it's sore." He ended by noting that he is unsure when he will return.

Our View: Eric Bruntlett will continue to man shortstop until he is ready to return.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 4/15, 5:52 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins is not in Tuesday's starting lineup. The reigning National League Most Valuable Player will miss his sixth game with a sprained left ankle.

Our View: The Phillies shortstop worked out with the team in pre-game drills, but still isn't able to run from first to third without issue.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 4/14, 10:35 AM CT
The top goal for the team is to make sure that Jimmy Rollins' injury does not linger for the entire season, according to Philadelphia Daily News. Manager Manuel noted that he is hopeful that Rollins will be on the field tomorrow when the team opens a three-game series against the Astros. Rollins did some running in the pool, and will likely do some field work tomorrow that will test his ability to push off his left foot. Scott Sheridan noted, "We talked to Jimmy about returning. He seems to think he's definitely making some steps toward that. Certainly we'd like to make that our goal. But again, we have to treat the symptoms. If he comes in and feels great, we'll go with it. But we certainly aren't going to put him in a position to make this thing worse."

Our View: We will keep you posted on his status.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 4/12, 7:44 PM CT
Updating an earlier report on the status of Jimmy Rollins, it now appears that he will also be given Sunday off as well because of his injured ankle, this according to MLB.com.

When asked whether he might miss the three games this weekend against the Cubs and return when the Phillies resume playing Tuesday against the visiting Houston Astros, he said, "Hopefully, I'm back tomorrow. But I'm a born optimist." Rollins is fine accelerating, but any significant lateral force is still causing him a lot of pain. Eric Bruntlett will continue to fill in at shortstop until he is ready to return.
