Our View: Koskie believes he can still hit, but does not want to have to worry about suffering another concussion.

Koskie did not play in 2007 as he battled post-concussion syndrome. He intends to try to play in 2008, but he's unlikely to be anything more than a role player wherever he ends up.

Koskie suffered the concussion after taking a fall in a game on July 6. Tony Gwynn, the son of the former Padres outfielder, was recalled from Triple-A Nashville to take Koskie's spot on the roster.
