Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 11/6, 4:31 PM CT
Scott Eyre underwent surgery today to remove floating bodies in his left elbow, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: The 37-year-old reliever pitched with the injury over the final month of the season. He will resume his career with the Phillies or will hang up his cleats.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 10/12, 2:03 PM CT
Phillies' reliever Scott Eyre was walking without a limp in the clubhouse on Monday, according to the team's Twitter page. Eyre worked out and threw with coaches and looked good.

Our View: Eyre said he would be able to go today if called upon, and it looks like he was right. he made it through all tests administered by the coaches, so don't be shocked to see him come out of the pen tonight. Of course, with cliff Lee pitching the Phils might need anyone to come out of the bullpen.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 10/12, 12:15 PM CT
Updating a previous report, Phillies' reliever Scott Eyre has been diagnosed with a sprained ankle, according to MLB.com. Eyre says he will be able to pitch Monday if needed, but manager Charlie Manuel believes he needs some time to recover.

Our View: This injury isn't nearly as bad as it could have been, but don't expect to see him tonight unless the Phils are desperate. If the team does advance, he should be good to go for the NLCS.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 10/12, 8:34 AM CT
ESPN.com is reporting that Phillies' relief pitcher Scott Eyre left Sunday's game in the seventh inning after he turned his ankle while trying to field a Dexter Fowler bunt. No word yet on his status for Monday's Game 4.

Our View: It looked bad when he went down, but he did walk off the field under his own power. It would be a bit surprising if he was able to go tonight, but we will keep you updated on his status as it is released.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 9/19, 5:10 PM CT
According to Todd Zolecki on Twitter, reliever Scott Eyre threw a successful bullpen session on Saturday and expects to begin pitching on Tuesday.

Our View: Eyre hasn't pitched since September 7th because of a sore left elbow, and he will require offseason surgery, but it looks like the steady relief man will be able to pitch into the postseason this year. He has a 1.61 ERA in 39 appearances this year.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 9/11, 3:32 PM CT
MLB.com's Todd Zolecki reports that Scott Eyre will get a cortisone shot in his aching left elbow and try to pitch through the pain for the rest of 2009.

Our View: The injury has been described as only a "loose body" in the elbow, so as long as he is physically able to do it, the team will let him pitch going forward. In 28 innings over 39 appearances this season, Eyre has posted a 1.61 ERA, while holding lefties to a .207 batting average against.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 9/10, 6:12 PM CT
According to Scott Lauber on Twitter, an MRI revealed the cause of reliever Scott Eyre's elbow pain was the result of a "loose body".

Our View: Eyre had been feeling pain in his elbow for the last week and it looks like he may require offseason arthroscopic surgery to clean up the "loose body". He will be shut down for at least a few days. The Phillies bullpen continues to take massive hits this season.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 9/10, 10:51 AM CT
Scott Eyre is scheduled to be examined by the team physician on Thursday, according to MLB.com. Eyre has been experiencing a "quick and Sharp" pain in his elbow over the last week.

Our View: The Phils are hoping that this injury isn't anything serious, because Eyre has been outstanding in his 28 innings this season. He is devastating against lefties, so the team can ill-afford to be without him for the postseason.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 9/8, 5:37 PM CT
Scott Eyre is day-to-day with soreness in his left (pitching) elbow, according to MLB.com's Todd Zolecki.

Our View: Not good news for a slumping Phillies club nearing playoff time. The lefty specialist has posted an impressive 1.61 ERA in 28 innings this season, holding lefties to a .207 batting average against.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 7/5, 9:35 AM CT
Updating a previous report, Phillies' beat writer Todd Zolecki is reporting on his Twitter page that the team has activated pitcher Scott Eyre from the DL. In a corresponding move, the team has optioned pitcher Sergio Escalona to Triple-A.

Our View: It was reported that Eyre would be activated today, so no big shocker here. He has little-to-no fantasy value as a reliever, but he should help out in the Phillies' bullpen.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 7/2, 8:23 AM CT
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that reliever Scott Eyre will likely be activated from the DL on Sunday.

Our View: Eyre is rehabbing a strained calf and will pitch out of the bullpen for Double-A Reading on Friday before rejoining the Phillies on Sunday. Barring setbacks of course. Eyre has no fantasy value outside of deep leagues that feature holds.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 7/1, 6:00 PM CT
Scott Eyre will start for Double-A Reading on Wednesday night as part of his rehab from a strained left calf, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Our View: Eyre has been out since June 12. In 14 innings in 2009, he has a 2.57 ERA and ten holds. He is a decent option in leagues with holds and middle relievers, though he collects few strikeouts.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 6/25, 10:00 AM CT
According to the Philadelphia Daily News, reliever Scott Eyre threw 26 pitches off the mound on Wednesday and reported no pain in his strained left calf. Eyre could be available soon after he is eligible to return from the DL.

Our View: Eyre has now thrown twice, once playing catch and this one off the mound, without feeling any pain in his calf. He will still likely need a rehab assignment, but he should be ready to go sometime next week.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 6/21, 8:49 AM CT
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, injured reliever Scott Eyre played catch on Saturday and felt no pain or discomfort in his strained calf.

Our View: Eyre injured the calf nine days ago and is progressing nicely, but has yet to test it out on a mound. He is eligible to come off the DL on Friday, but stated that it may be a bit longer than that. He will make a minor league rehab appearance before rejoining the Phillies.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 6/12, 3:29 PM CT
Updating a previous report, the Phillies have now placed Scott Eyre on the 15-day disabled list with a left calf strain according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View: This is bad news for the Phillies as their lefty specialist had posted a 2.57 ERA and .196 BAA in 25 games so far in 2009. Kyle Kendrick has been recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take his roster spot.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 6/12, 9:23 AM CT
The Philadelphia Daily News is reporting that Phillies' reliever Scott Eyre suffered a calf injury during Thursday night's game. Manager Charlie Manuel indicated that Eyre "could be out for awhile," but he will be evaluated in the next couple of days.

Our View: The Phillies' can not afford to lose Eyre, an important piece to their bullpen. We will know more within the next few days, but the fact that Manuel feels he could be out for awhile is not a good sign. We will keep you posted on his condition as the news hits.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 11/10, 5:40 PM CT
The News Journal reports that the Phillies have re-signed relief pitcher Scott Eyre to a one-year, $2 million deal.

Our View: Eyre, 36, went 3-0 with a 1.88 ERA in 19 appearances after coming over August 7 in a trade with the Cubs and gave the Phillies a strong second lefty reliever in front of J.C. Romero.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 8/29, 11:14 AM CT
Scott Eyre has performed better than expected for the Phillies since they acquired him from the Cubs. Eyre has made seven scoreless appearances for the Phills, according to Philly.com.

Our View: Eyre has performed well out of the pen but has no real fantasy value.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 8/7, 2:51 PM CT
The Phillies have claimed reliever Scott Eyre, who has been designated for assignment earlier in the week by the Cubs, according to the AP. The Phillies sent right-hander Brian Schlitter to Chicago in the trade between NL division leaders.

Our View: Eyre nailed down two wins with the Cubs, but allowed nine earned runs, four walks, and 15 hits over 11.1 innings. Eyre should only be considered in deeper NL-only leagues that use middle men.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 8/5, 12:58 PM CT
The Cubs designated LHP Scott Eyre for assignment to make room for the returning Kerry Wood, according to PA Sports Ticker.

Our View: The reliever has gone 2-0 with an abysmal 7.15 ERA in 11.1 innings pitched.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 7/31, 12:44 PM CT
Both the Yankees and the Red Sox are talking to the Cubs about acquiring Scott Eyre, according to ESPN's Jayson Stark.

Our View: Eyre has really struggled over the last year and a half for the Cubbies. The Yanks and Sox are looking for more substantial bullpen help in addition to Eyre.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 7/28, 6:24 PM CT
ESPN.com reports that the Cubs are shopping LHP Scott Eyre to AL teams. They currently have three lefties in their bullpen.

Our View: Eyre has been very average this offseason, but its likely he could draw some interest as he could fill a needed role for a contender.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 7/23, 7:03 PM CT
Scott Eyre was activated from the DL on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press. The team also optioned Micah Hoffpauir and Kevin Hart to make room for Eyre and Alfonso Soriano.

Our View: Eyre has been on the DL since June 28th due to a strained left groin. With Kerry Wood ailing, Eyre could be a nice addition the Cubs pen, though he certainly isn't a fantasy worthy option at this point.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 7/19, 9:50 AM CT
LHP Scott Eyre threw for pitching coach Larry Rothschild Friday and will do another bullpen session today. He recently completed a rehab assignment and could join the Cubs bullpen shortly, according to the Daily Herald.

Our View: The lefty would be welcomed in their bullpen and could be in line for a number of one-out holds as a specialist.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 7/18, 1:47 PM CT
Left-handed hurler Scott Eyre is ready to return from his minor league rehab stint following his battle with a strained left groin, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: Eyre was a decent reliever for the Cubs this season, as he went 2-0 with six earned runs allowed over 11 innings, with 14 strikeouts. He only holds fantasy value in deeper NL-only leagues.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 6/28, 2:15 PM CT
The Cubbies had hoped to avoid the need to rest him for a prolonged period of time, but reliever Scott Eyre has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left groin strain, according to the Sports Network.

Our View: Eyre has gone 2-0 with a 4.91 earned-run average in 8 relief appearances for Chicago this season. To replace Eyre on the roster, the Cubs have called up pitcher Jose Ascanio, who will be available for Saturday's game against the White Sox, from Triple-A Iowa.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 6/26, 7:31 PM CT
Scott Eyre left Thursday's game after being forced out of action with a strained left groin, according to MLB.com. The team hopes he can avoid the DL.

Our View: Eyre has already spent time on the DL due to bone spur in his left elbow which has limited him to just 11 innings this season. He has little value even in NL Only leagues as he is clearly not in line for any type of significant role in the Cubs bullpen.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 5/9, 11:40 AM CT
Scott Eyre has been activated from the 15-day DL, according to the Sports Network. To make room, they also optioned lefty Sean Marshall to Triple-A Iowa.

Our View: Eyre will fight for playing time out of the Cubs' crowded pen and holds little to no fantasy value, especially since he held a poor 1.80 WHIP over 52.1 innings in 2007. This is his third season with the Cubs.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 5/9, 8:17 AM CT
Scott Eyre remains on pace to be activated from the DL before Saturday's game against the D-Backs, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. He is recovering from left elbow inflammation.

Our View: Eyre will fight for playing time out of the Cubs' crowded pen and holds little to no fantasy value, especially since he held a poor 1.80 WHIP over 52.1 innings in 2007.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 5/7, 1:17 PM CT
Scott Eyre will throw tonight in Tennessee in his final rehab outing in the minors, then report to the Cubs in time to be activated before Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks at Wrigley Field, notes the Chicago Tribune. General manager Jim Hendry said the Cubs won't go with 13 pitchers when Eyre returns, as Lou Piniella talked about previously, so one of the relievers will have to go down to Triple-A Iowa.

Our View: Sean Gallagher may be the odd man out because he's the least experienced reliever and the Cubs still consider him a starter in the making.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 5/4, 12:00 PM CT
Scott Eyre had his rehab moved to Double-A, according to CBSsports. He is recovering from left elbow inflammation.

Our View: He holds little fantasy value as a middle-reliever in a talented and crowded Cubs' bullpen.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 4/18, 12:33 PM CT
Scott Eyre will throw off a mound on Friday and Monday, MLB.com reports. He is coming back from left elbow inflammation and may be able to start a rehab assignment soon.

Our View: With the way that Sean Marshall is pitching out of the bullpen, the Cubs don't have to rush Eyre back.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 4/16, 10:47 AM CT
Scott Eyre is expected to throw a simulated game today, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. He threw a second bullpen session on Monday in his rehab schedule, and fared well. He could be scheduled to start a minor-league rehab assignment by the end of the week, as he continues to recover from elbow inflammation.

Our View: His fantasy value remains limited, especially in a crowded Cubs' pen.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 4/4, 8:56 AM CT
Scott Eyre has yet to begin throwing off a mound and isn't on the verge of returning, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Eyre is on DL due to left elbow inflammation. We imagine some mound work and a short rehab stint will be in order before the southpaw joins the big club.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesSaturday 3/29, 7:52 AM CT
Scott Eyre is feeling better and could be ready to pitch about a week into the season, according to Chicago Sun-Times. Eyre's on the disabled list due to a sore elbow but will be eligible to return soon after the season kicks off.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesThursday 3/27, 1:15 PM CT
Scott Eyre won't undergo surgery for his sore elbow but the Cubs did place the left-hander on the disabled list Thursday, retroactive to March 23. Eyre's fantasy value rests in deep NL-only formats.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesTuesday 3/25, 1:29 PM CT
Scott Eyre won't undergo surgery, according to the Chicago Tribune. Eyre had a cortisone shot in his left elbow on Monday to alleviate the soreness, but he isn't worried about the prospect of having surgery. He stated, "I've had a bone spur in there for a couple of years. Now it's just getting worse. They put some cortisone in there to calm the inflammation down and see if I could pitch without some pain for a while. It'd be nice. There's nothing wrong with my ligament or the nerve in there. No season–ending surgery or anything like that in the works. It's just a bone spur in the back and it's biting back right now." The Cubs wont pitch Eyre again this spring with only five exhibition games remaining, which would allow them to backdate him on the disabled list. He was battling for a bullpen spot.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesMonday 4/16, 6:21 AM CT
Scott Eyre was released from a hospital on Sunday afternoon, though it's not clear when he'll be ready for game action again, according to the Daily Southtown. He was dealing with a stomach flu and had been taken to the hospital after Saturday's game to be treated for dehydration.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 4/15, 6:08 AM CT

Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesFriday 9/1, 1:40 PM CT

Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 8/16, 2:15 PM CT

Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesWednesday 8/16, 7:15 AM CT
Scott Eyre was forced to leave last night's game in the eighth inning with an apparent injury to his right leg, according to the Daily Southtown. It appears that he might need a trip to the disabled list, though more should be known after he's examined further today.
Scott Eyre, P, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 7/23, 11:06 AM CT
After tweaking his hamstring on Friday, Scott Eyre declared himself ready to pitch on Saturday, according to the Daily Herald. "It’s been tight for a while; no big deal," said Eyre. "It’s way up high on my butt. So I get my butt rubbed every day. It’s cool. My problem is my wife’s not doing the rubbing. It’s [assistant trainer] Ed [Halbur]. Put that one in the paper."
