Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 3/11, 11:11 PM CT
Kevin Millwood was picked apart by the Twins on Thursday as he allowed five runs on nine hits and a walk over just 2.2 innings.

Our View: The new "ace" of the Orioles staff has a tough road ahead of him. He has now been rocked in both spring starts and sports a horrendous 29.70 ERA to this point. He's been asked to be the veteran anchor of a young and inexperienced staff in the tumultuous AL East, so he's likely not much of a fantasy option anymore.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 3/6, 3:16 PM CT
Kevin Millwood got rocked in his first start of spring training on Saturday, allowing six runs off seven hits and a walk in just 0.2 innings against Detroit.

Our View: We wouldn't read too much into this, although it's certainly not a positive sign given that pitchers are usually ahead of hitters this early on in spring. Hopefully Millwood will be able to bounce back in his next turn.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 12/9, 5:41 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, Kevin Millwood has officially been traded to the Orioles, according to the Dallas Morning News. The Rangers will receive Chris Ray and a player to be named later in return.

Our View: The 34-year-old hurler should prove to be a solid upgrade for the Orioles' rotation in 2010. He may end up being their "ace" as well.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 12/9, 1:51 PM CT
The Orioles and Rangers appear close to completing a deal that would send Kevin Millwood and cash to Baltimore for reliever Chris Ray, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Millwood is still a decent innings eater that could help provide veteran leadership to Baltimore's corps of starting pitchers that is very young with little MLB experience. Stay tuned, as this deal could happen as early as today.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 12/8, 4:48 PM CT
Kevin Millwood continues to garner interest, but the Orioles are not as high on him as before, according to the Star-Telegram. The Mets are also believed to be losing interest.

Our View: The Diamondbacks are now speculated to be a potential suitor for Millwood, who is owed $12MM in 2010. Unloading Millwood could allow the Rangers to target free agent hurlers, such as Ben Sheets and Rich Harden.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 12/4, 2:05 PM CT
The Ragners are willing to trade Kevin Millwood, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.

Our View: One of the worst kept secrets of this offseason. While Heyman cautions he's no "giveaway" after posting a 3.67 ERA in pitcher's graveyard Ameriquest Field last season, he's probably close to it, as the Rangers would love to shed some payroll.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 11/30, 7:15 PM CT
FoxSports.com is reporting that the Baltimore Orioles have called the Texas Rangers to inquire about pitcher Kevin Millwood. The Orioles want to gauge the Rangers' interest in moving the veteran pitcher.

Our View: The O's would like to get a veteran starter who can head a staff filled with young arms, and Millwood would fit the bill. The Rangers haven't shown a huge interest in moving him, but the O's will surely be interested if he hits the trade block.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 11/30, 12:34 PM CT
The Rangers do not seem to be intent on moving Kevin Millwood in a deal despite speculation to the contrary, according to MLBlogs.com.

Our View: The Rangers are always looking for pitching, and though Millwood faltered later in the year last season, it makes little sense for them to trade a guy who they can count on for 30+ starts of mostly effective work.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 11/29, 4:18 PM CT
Despite recent speculation, the Brewers are not believed to be actively interested in acquiring Rangers pitcher Kevin Millwood, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Rangers GM Jon Daniels has said that he has not spoken to Milwaukee GM Doug Melvin for "weeks." That being said, he did not deny that talks could be revisited at a later time.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 11/29, 12:13 PM CT
The Milwaukee Brewers have reportedly inquired about Rangers' starter Kevin Millwood, according to the Boston Globe. The Rangers have not indicated that Millwood is on the market.

Our View: The Brewers have not hidden the fact that they want starting pitching, so they will probably inquire on plenty of starters this winter. If the Rangers decide they want to move him, expect the Brewers to be first in line with an offer.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 10/1, 8:14 PM CT
Kevin Millwood struck out ten in his third complete game of the season on Thursday, as the Rangers eased to an 11-3 victory in Los Angeles.

Our View: Millwood's 31st start of the season wrapped up his best season in ages. He finishes with a 13-10 record, 3.67 ERA, 123 strikeouts and 198.2 innings pitched.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 9/26, 11:45 PM CT
Kevin Millwood held the Rays to just two earned runs on seven hits and a pair of walks over seven innings in the Rangers 15-3 win over the Rays. The win bumped him to 12-10 on the season.

Our View: Millwood has been very good in his last two starts, allowing just two runs over his last 14 innings. He seems to be back on track after allowing ten runs in 8.2 innings prior to that.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 9/22, 12:09 AM CT
Kevin Millwood only surrendered one run (not earned) on three hits over seven innings in Monday's 10-3 win at Oakland. He had one walk and two strikeouts.

Our View: Millwood pitched great tonight while ending a two-game losing streak in which he was tagged for five earned runs in both starts. He now has a winning record at 11-10 as well.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 9/17, 3:51 PM CT
According to USA Today, Kevin Millwood is scheduled to start next Tuesday and, assuming he can record 13 outs, his $12 million option for 2010 will kick in.

Our View: The contract option is innings-based and Millwood, assuming he isn't horrible, should be able to rack up enough on Tuesday for it to vest. The Rangers skipped his last start due to recent poor performance, but there was also speculation that they were trying to keep him from reaching his innings to save some cash. Looks like that theory is now out the window.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 9/15, 6:47 PM CT
Kevin Millwood will miss his next start in the Rangers' rotation, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: Millwood has been struggling on the mound lately, and the Rangers want to hold him out to give him more time to work on some mechanical changes. He won't return to the rotation until either next Monday or Tuesday at Oakland. Derek Holland will pitch Sunday against the Angels.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 9/13, 10:53 PM CT
According to MLB.com, the Rangers may skip Kevin Millwood's next start.

Our View: Millwood has a vesting option for 2010 worth $12 million that will kick in if he makes his next start, so the Rangers may elect to skip it to save some cabbage. Millwood hasn't thrown well lately either, so the team could be thinking that they have a better chance to win if he rests up and someone else (Dustin Nippert possibly) takes the mound. The Rangers wouldn't shut him down for the rest of the season though would they? Stay tuned.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 9/12, 11:58 PM CT
Kevin Millwood was ineffective on Saturday night. The Rangers' veteran starter made it through just 3.2 innings, allowing five runs, as Texas lost 8-3 to the Mariners at home.

Our View: After going 8-7 with a 3.46 ERA in 19 starts before the All-Star break, Millwood is just 2-3 with a 5.32 ERA in nine outings since the Midsummer Classic.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 9/11, 9:55 PM CT
Friday's game between the Mariners and Rangers has been postponed due to rain, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Sunday. Tonight's scheduled starters, Kevin Millwood and Brandon Morrow, will both take the hill Saturday.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 9/10, 3:08 PM CT
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram is reporting that Rangers' starter Kevin Millwood is eight innings away from reaching a clause in his contract that activates a $12 million option for 2010. Millwood is expected to reach the 180 inning mark in his next two starts.

Our View: The Rangers would probably like to avoid this situation, but there really isn't anything they can do about it. They can't just shut Millwood down for the season, because they are still in the playoff hunt and because the players' union would be all over them, so it looks like he will be back for 12 mil next season. It's not a terrible situation, but it just hurts the team's flexibility for the 2010 season.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 9/5, 7:45 PM CT
Kevin Millwood was rocked for five earned runs on seven hits over five innings in Saturday's 5-4 loss at Baltimore. He had four walks with four strikeouts, and was tagged for two homers.

Our View: Millwood falls to 10-9 and his ERA rises to 3.77. He continues to struggle after going 1-1 with a 4.66 ERA over five starts in August.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 8/30, 7:39 PM CT
Kevin Millwood held the Twins to just two runs on six hits and a pair of walks over six innings on Sunday, but didn't factor in the decision of the 5-3 loss as the bullpen imploded in the eight inning.

Our View: Milwood needed a quality start after getting bet up in his previous two appearances. Prior to Sunday's outing he had allowed ten runs in his last 11.1 innings.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 8/25, 10:20 PM CT
Kevin Millwood was rocked for five earned runs on seven hits over 5.2 innings in Tuesday's 10-9 win at New York. He issued five walks with two strikeouts, and gave up two homers.

Our View: Millwood struggled tonight, but was handed his 10th win of 2009 due to the hot bats of his teammates. He was winless over his four previous starts, and is really not back on track. He allowed five earned runs in each of his last two.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 8/19, 10:46 PM CT
Kevin Millwood was rocked for five earned runs on seven hits over 5.2 innings in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Twins at Rangers Ballpark. He had three walks with four strikeouts.

Our View: Millwood was a disappointment tonight, as he allowed two or less earned runs in each of his previous four starts. He still leads the Rangers with a 3.48 ERA, and should be able to bounce back fine.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 8/14, 11:04 PM CT
Kevin Millwood allowed one earned run on three hits over 5.2 innings in Friday's 8-4 loss to the Red Sox at Rangers Ballpark. He issued five walks with four strikeouts, and was dealt a no-decision.

Our View: Millwood's five walks were a season-high, but he should be able to bounce back fine. He only allowed two earned runs in each of his previous three starts, and continues to pace the Rangers with nine wins, a 3.31 ERA and 93 strikeouts.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 8/8, 6:45 PM CT
Kevin Millwood held the Angels to just two runs on nine hits and a walk over six innings on Saturday. He fanned five, but failed to earn a decision as LA won 3-2 with a run in the seventh.

Our View: This was Millwood's first start since July 26th due to a strained glute, but it doesn't look like he's missed a beat. The Texas starter is 9-7 with a 3.38 and has been one of the biggest fantasy surprises this season.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 8/1, 8:53 PM CT
Kevin Millwood was once again scratched from Monday's start while still recovering from a strained left glute, according to MLBblogs.com.

Our View: Dustin Nippert is considered the top candidate to replace him on the hill Monday against Oakland. The Rangers remain hopeful that Millwood will be able to pitch at some point during their four-game set with the A's, and do not expect to shut him down on the DL.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 7/31, 7:51 PM CT
Kevin Millwood's next turn in the Rangers' rotation has been pushed back to Monday against Oakland, according to MLBblogs.com.

Our View: Millwood was slated to pitch Sunday, but is still not recovered from his strained left glute, and Texas wants to give him an extra day of rest. Either Scott Feldman or Dustin Nippert will take the hill in his place Sunday.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 7/29, 5:29 PM CT
Kevin Millwood's next turn in the Rangers' rotation has been pushed back to Sunday, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: That gives him more time to rest his ailing left glute. Derek Holland will take the hill Thursday against the Mariners, with Vicente Padilla following Friday and Tommy Hunter starting on Saturday.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 7/26, 5:26 PM CT
Kevin Millwood pitched just two innings on Sunday before leaving with tightness in his left gluteus. The Rangers would go on to win 7-2.

Our View: After battling the flu all week, Millwood was forced to leave a game with a sore rear. No word on how serious the injury is, but he likely won't miss much time.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 7/26, 7:22 AM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Rangers' starter Kevin Millwood will take the mound on Sunday despite spending the last several days suffering from the flu. Millwood told the website on Saturday that "I'll be ready. I was just coughing and just kind of feeling weak, but my energy is better right now. It's nothing I can't deal with."

Our View: Millwood is coming off a nice outing in his last start, but fantasy owners should be a little concerned with him today. One thing he has going for him is that he is pitching against the Royals, making him a must-start despite his illness. He may not eat innings as usual today, but pitching against KC is enough to make any pitcher feel better.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 7/20, 11:09 PM CT
Kevin Millwood improved to 9-7 on Monday, allowing two runs off six hits and one walk while striking out three in six innings against the Red Sox.

Our View: It was good to see Millwood get back on track after a rough few outings. He'll continue to be a decent innings-eating fantasy option going forward.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 7/12, 12:02 AM CT
Kevin Millwood was tagged for four earned runs on six hits over six innings in Saturday's 5-1 loss at Seattle. He had two walks and five strikeouts, and gave up two homers.

Our View: Millwood is now winless over his last three starts since collecting his 150th career win against San Diego. Hopefully he can get back on track in his next trip to the hill after the All-Star break.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 7/6, 11:52 PM CT
Kevin Millwood was lit up for nine earned runs on nine hits over five innings in Monday's 9-4 loss at the Angels. He issued three walks with no strikeouts.

Our View: Millwood falls to 8-6, and allowed 13 earned runs over his last two starts. He held a solid 2.80 ERA prior to tonight's nightmarish outing, and the Rangers' ace hurler should be able to bounce back fine.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 7/1, 10:33 PM CT
Kevin Millwood gave up four earned runs on eight hits over 6.1 innings in Wednesday's 9-7 win over the Angels at Rangers Ballpark. He issued three walks with four strikeouts.

Our View: Millwood takes a no-decision as the Angels rallied to tie the game at 7-7 on a three-run homer by Juan Rivera in the top of the ninth inning. Millwood really did not pitch well enough to deserve a win anyway. He remains at 8-5 with a solid 2.80 ERA.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 6/26, 11:52 PM CT
Kevin Millwood only surrendered two earned runs on four hits over six innings in Friday's 12-2 win over the Padres at Rangers Ballpark. He had three walks and five strikeouts.

Our View: It was another strong outing for Millwood other than the three free passes. He leads the Rangers with eight wins, a 2.64 ERA and 70 strikeouts.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 6/26, 10:27 AM CT
According to MLB.com, the Rangers have shuffled their rotation and will have ace Kevin Millwood pitch Friday night against the Padres while Derek Holland is pushed back to Saturday.

Our View: This move allows the Rangers to squeeze an extra start out of their ace before the All-Star break, which is good news for a team that is starting to look very ordinary. Millwood is a solid fantasy option in all leagues, and owners need to make sure you get him in tonight, since his scheduled start wasn't supposed to be until tomorrow.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 6/21, 7:29 PM CT
Kevin Millwood gave up three runs (two earned) on eight hits over seven innings in Sunday's 3-2 loss at San Francisco. He had three walks and 10 strikeouts.

Our View: The Rangers' ace took a loss, but fantasy owners should be happy with his 10 strikeouts. He was riding a three-game winning streak, and only allowed one earned run over 21.2 innings over the span. Millwood will have to wait to claim the 150th win of his career.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 6/16, 9:50 PM CT
Kevin Millwood was in control from the hill in Tuesday's 6-1 win over the Astros at Rangers Ballpark, as he only surrendered one earned run on four hits over seven innings. He had three walks and racked up six strikeouts.

Our View: Millwood leads the Rangers with seven wins and a 2.62 ERA. He has been among the most dominant hurlers so far in June, as he only allowed one earned run over three starts.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 6/11, 11:18 PM CT
Kevin Millwood was dominant from the bump in Thursday's 1-0 win over the Jays at Rangers Ballpark, as he only gave up five hits over 7.2 scoreless innings. He issued no walks with one strikeout.

Our View: Millwood collected his team-leading sixth win, and has not allowed a run over his last two outings. He is pitching like an ace for Texas right now, and should remain active in fantasy leagues.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 6/5, 9:53 PM CT
Kevin Millwood was in control from the mound in Friday's 5-1 win at Boston, as he only allowed one run (not earned) on seven hits over seven innings. He issued four walks with five strikeouts.

Our View: Millwood now has a winning record at 5-4, and trimmed his ERA to 2.96. His ERA leads the Rangers, and he is tied with Scott Feldman in wins.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 6/5, 11:08 AM CT
Kevin Millwood will be looking to halt an eight game Ranger losing streak at Fenway Park when he takes the mound on Friday night The Sports Network reports.

Our View: Millwood has been surprisingly good for the Rangers in 2009, going 4-4 with a 3.23 ERA and 1.23 WHIP. He's as good a candidate as any to stop the Rangers slide at Fenway, and a definite add should he still be available in any of your leagues.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 5/27, 12:38 AM CT
Kevin Millwood did not factor into the decision on Tuesday as the Rangers downed the Yankees 7-3. Millwood went 5.2 innings and allowed three runs on nine hits while walking four and striking out three.

Our View: Millwood wasn't great tonight, but he wasn't bad either. He has been good this season, and outings like this are to be expected every once in awhile. If this is as bad as Millwood pitches, then fantasy owners are in good shape.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 5/21, 3:10 PM CT
Kevin Millwood allowed four earned runs on six hits over eight innings in Thursday's 4-3 loss at Detroit. He had four walks and three strikeouts. He gave up two homers in the game.

Our View: Millwood pitched poorly today, and deserved taking his fourth loss of the season. He is 4-4, and is yet to win back-to-back starts.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 5/17, 7:46 PM CT
Kevin Millwood has been slowed by the flu, according to the AP. Manager Ron Washington reports he still expects him to make his start on Thursday against the Tigers.

Our View: Millwood has surpassed expectations in the early going and he looked good on Friday against the Angels. We don't expect that he will still be ill come Thursday, so feel free to keep him in your lineups.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 5/16, 12:04 AM CT
Kevin Millwood was good again on Friday as the Rangers beat the Angels 10-8. Millwood went six innings and allowed two runs on nine hits while walking two and striking out five,

Our View: Millwood has been a very solid fantasy option so far this season, and he was good again tonight. His bullpen tried to blow it for him, but in the end he picked up his fourth win of the year. He should be utilized in all leagues, at least until the curse of Texas pitching catches up with him.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 5/9, 10:25 PM CT
Kevin Millwood had another solid outing on Saturday, but took a hard luck loss. He allowed three runs on seven hits and three walks over seven innings in the Rangers' 3-2 loss to Chicago.

Our View: Millwood's ERA is at 2.92 right now and people will start talking about him being in contention for the comeback player of the year if he keeps this up. He's now a decent option in mixed leagues, which is a shock to, well, everyone.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 5/5, 12:04 AM CT
Kevin Millwood wasn't great on Monday, but he was good enough to win as the Rangers beat the Mariners 6-5. Millwood went 7.1 innings and allowed five runs on eight hits while striking out three.

Our View: This was not one of Millwood's best starts of the year, but he did manage to pick up the win. He has been surprisingly good so far in 2009, and is a good start in all leagues for now.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 4/29, 12:32 AM CT
Kevin Millwood evened his record at 2-2 with a 5-4 win over the A's on Tuesday. He scattered ten hits and two walks over eight innings, allowing just two earned runs and striking out five.

Our View: Millwood's ERA is now a shocking 2.13 on the season. He's not striking out a lot of batters (a shade over five per nine innings), but his ERA and WHIP prove that he's pitched very well over his first five starts. We'll wait and see if May is as successful as April was before any comeback player of the year talk arises.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 4/23, 11:44 PM CT
Kevin Millwood was not quite as sharp has he was in his last start. He allowed four runs on five hits and two walks over seven innings, but was victimized by the long ball. He allowed three over the wall and took the loss as the Rangers fell 5-2 on Thursday.

Our View: Millwood has been a big surprise so far this season, but may be reverting to last season's form. If he continues to have trouble keeping the ball in the park his 2.10 ERA will skyrocket.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 4/18, 11:43 PM CT
Kevin Millwood was out-pitched on Saturday night by Zack Greinke, but not by much. Millwood lasted all nine innings and took the hard-luck loss, allowing just two runs on five hits and three walks as the Rangers dropped a nail-biter to the Royals 2-0.

Our View: No one saw this coming. Kevin Millwood is now 1-1 with a 1.17 ERA in three starts this season. He is the "ace" of the Rangers staff, but is actually pitching like one now. Chances are he's still on your waiver wire. It can't hurt to grab him now and ride him while he's hot.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 4/12, 3:04 PM CT
Kevin Millwood only allowed four hits over seven scoreless innings in Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Tigers at Comerica Park. He had no walks and six strikeouts.

Our View: Millwood had a great outing, and it is a shame he was dealt a no-decision rather than a win. Detroit rallied to score all six of their runs in the eighth inning.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 4/7, 11:44 AM CT
Pitcher Kevin Millwood told reporters on Monday night that he still had plenty left in his arm despite throwing 113 pitches in a win over the Indians, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram notes.

Our View: Nolan Ryan (you may have heard of him) took over as the Rangers president in February of 2008, and he vowed to toughen up the franchise's pitchers. He wants hurlers to be stronger and work longer. Millwood is apparently on board. The veteran right-hander hasn't been terribly effective since 2005, but maybe he just needed Clint East... err, Nolan Ryan to cuss him out and whip him into shape. We remain skeptical despite Monday's solid outing.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 4/6, 4:04 PM CT
Kevin Millwood allowed just one run over seven innings of work as the Rangers defeated the Indians 9-1 on opening day. He gave up five hits an a walk, while striking out five.

Our View: Millwood threw 113 pitches in the game, which is quite the accomplishment for April 6. He worked hard in the offseason to build up his stamina and it apparently has already begun to pay off. The Rangers need him to be their ace this season, but by the time it warms up in Arlington, Millwood will probably have a more difficult time stranding runners.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 3/21, 7:36 PM CT
Kevin Millwood had a quality start for the Rangers on Saturday. He tossed six innings, allowing three runs on five hit and struck out five.

Our View: This is considered a positive start for Millwood, but Texas' number one starter is going to have to be a lot better if the Rangers are going to have any chance of competeing.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 3/13, 4:00 PM CT
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Kevin Millwood has been named the team's opening day starter.

Our View: Millwood was awful last season and his fantasy value has dwindled with each passing year. Your best bet is to avoid him on draft day and snatch him off waivers if he starts to put together a productive season.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 3/9, 8:30 PM CT
Kevin Millwood got smacked around in his start on Monday, allowing 10 runs on 12 hits and two walks in just three innings.

Our View: Millwood pitched well in his first couple of spring starts, but this one was atrocious. He'll need to be significantly better to have any fantasy value this year.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 3/4, 6:44 PM CT
Kevin Millwood made his second consecutive strong start in the Rangers 5-3 win over the Royals on Wednesday. He threw three shutout innings while allowing two hits, walking one, and striking out two.

Our View: Millwood came into camp 15 pounds lighter and seems determined to be a more reliable anchor to the Rangers volatile staff. Expect improvement from his previous two seasons.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 2/19, 8:00 AM CT
Manager Ron Washington is yet to name an opening day starting pitcher, but noted that he is leaning toward Kevin Millwood, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: Millwood has started the last three seasons. The top two candidates for the opener are Millwood and Vincente Padilla.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 12/23, 2:51 PM CT
The Rangers would like to free up some money, and may do so by purging the salaries of Kevin Millwood, Vincente Padilla, and/or Hank Blalock, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Our View: Doing so would help clear payroll to reel in starting pitcher Ben Sheets.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 12/18, 12:38 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Kevin Millwood has already shed 12 pounds this offseason as he prepares for 2009. If he pitches at least 180 innings next season, he will be a lock to receive his $12 million salary in 2010. He has not hit that mark in either of his past two seasons. "I'm doing everything I can to make sure it happens," Millwood said. "Getting in shape is part of it. The other part is going out and performing."

Our View: Millwood appears to be the de facto ace of the Rangers staff at this point, but there have been plenty of trade rumors surrounding him. Should the Rangers move him, they would likely go hard after Ben Sheets.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 12/10, 5:18 PM CT
MLB.com reports that the Brewers may be interested in trading for Kevin Millwood.

Our View: The Rangers want another right-handed bat, but it seems odd the Rangers would give up one of their few proven pitchers. Not that Millwood is that good, but the Rangers do not have many options in their starting-five.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 11/25, 8:48 AM CT
The Braves have talked to the Rangers about Kevin Millwood, but are not interested in trading for him.

Our View: Perhaps they asked about him as a backup plan in case they cannot add another arm to their rotation, such as AJ Burnett.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 11/23, 11:57 AM CT
The Mets are reportedly interested in Kevin Millwood, according to NYBaseballDigest.com.

Our View: Millwood would be viewed as a backup plan, in case they cannot land other targets, such as Derek Lowe and Jon Garland.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 9/22, 11:05 PM CT
Kevin Millwood lasted seven innings against the Athletics and allowed three runs, two earned, in the outing. Millwood walked just one batter while striking out six.

Our View: The outing ended with Millwood still sporting a 5.03 ERA as he just can't seem to lower it below the five level. Millowood currently has nine victories on the year as he has failed miserably to live up to expectations in Texas the past two seasons.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 9/10, 7:13 PM CT
Kevin Millwood was beat up by the Mariners on Wednesday allowing 11 hits, two walks, seven runs (five earned) in a five inning loss to Seattle.

Our View: After a three game stretch where he went 3-0 with a 1.46 ERA, Millwood has looked awful in his last two starts going 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA and a 2.09 WHIP. Millwood is on pace for a second straight season with an ERA above 5.00 (it's currently 5.15) with a WHIP above 1.60 (it's 1.63). He isn't worth starting except in deep AL-only leagues.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 8/26, 10:22 PM CT
There wasn't much offense to be found in the Rangers 2-1 win over Kansas City, in large part due to the efforts of veteran Texas hurler Kevin Millwood. Millwood pitched the complete game, allowing one run (earned) on nine hits with no walks and two strikeouts.

Our View: Millwood came into August with one of the worst ERAs among major league starters, but over his three August starts he has allowed a total of just seven earned runs, including each of his last two outings that have been complete games.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 8/20, 10:52 PM CT
Veteran hurler Kevin Millwood was on top of his game this evening, going the complete game to help his Rangers get the 9-1 win over Detroit. Millwood allowed just one run on six hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

Our View: Millwood is much closer to the end than the beginning, but he moves to 7-7 on the season with a 5.24 ERA. This is just his second win over his last nine starts, though he touts just 19 walks versus 47 strikeouts over the same span.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 8/15, 5:25 PM CT
Kevin Millwood was activated from the DL Friday and will start tonight against the Rays. He had been out with a strained right groin.

Our View: You should stay far away from Millwood in mixed leagues, but he's worth activating in AL-only formats.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 8/14, 12:48 PM CT
Kevin Millwood, who is recovering from a strained right groin, is expected to be activated from the DL Friday after making just one minor league rehab start, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: Millwood is seemingly being rushed back, so he will be a risky fantasy option if he starts Friday against the Rays. He is 6-6 over 20 starts this season, with a poor 5.40 ERA and 1.74 WHIP.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 8/6, 11:11 PM CT
Kevin Millwood had a bullpen session Wednesday and will make a rehab start for Double-A Frisco on Saturday, according to the AP. Millwood has been on the DL since July 26 with a strained groin.

Our View: We'll have to see how many rehab starts Millwood needs. It's possibly Saturday's will be his only one.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 8/4, 7:44 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Rangers pitcher Kevin Millwood threw 30 pitches on flat ground today, and if he feels good Wednesday, he will throw again that day. A rehab assignment would follow if that throwing session goes well.

Our View: Millwood has little fantasy value, even in AL-only leagues. He has an ERA of 5.40, and a surprisingly high WHIP of 1.74, mainly because he gives up a whopping 12.3 hits per nine innings pitched.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 7/26, 2:41 PM CT
The Rangers have decided to send pitcher Kevin Millwood to the 15-day disabled list according to the Star Telegram.

Our View: Millwood left in the third inning of his last start on July 23rd, but news on the injury has been almost nonexistant. The Telegram reports Millwood will clear a spot for Gerald Laird, who was activated today even though he didn't arrive at the ballpark until just after 11am. Max Ramirez will probably be shipped out Sunday to make room for Eric Hurley.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 7/23, 2:09 PM CT
Kevin Millwood left Wednesday's outing in the third inning with an unknown injury, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: The injury is yet to be revealed, but he did recently have some issues with his groin. We will keep you posted on his status when more details surface.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 7/18, 10:04 PM CT
With another underwhelming performance on the books, the Rangers may be attempting to move pitcher Kevin Millwood to a team in need of an arm for the playoffs, according to Dallas Morning News. Millwood picked up his sixth loss tonight as his Rangers fell 6-0 to the Twins, pitching 6 1/3 innings to allow five runs (all earned) on 11 hits with one walk and six strikeouts.

Our View: Millwood now carries a menial 6-6 record with a 5.23 ERA. However, Evan Grant with the News brings a few numbers to consider. Millwood entered the second half of the season with 488 innings since coming to the Rangers for the 2006 season. Among the 39 pitchers with at least 80 starts in that time, it ranks 32nd. Opponents are hitting .325 against him. In the last 20 years, no pitcher has had a 30-start season and allowed opponents an average that high. That leads to rumors of potential move to ship him out, but only time will tell if a buyer would take the chance and get a deal done with Texas.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 7/10, 11:09 AM CT
Kevin Millwood has a sore right groin, but he will make his next start on either Friday or Saturday, depending on how he feels after today's bullpen session, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: Millwood has remained average with Texas since signing with the team. This year is no different, and his 1.66 WHIP is just one reason why he is not a good fantasy option.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 7/6, 4:50 PM CT
Kevin Millwood earned the win behind a strong offense on Sunday. His pitching was spotty. He gave up nine hits and five runs (three earned) in five innings.

Our View: Millwood has been a better second-half pitcher his entire career. With Texas' imposing offense, he could see a number of victories similar to Sunday throughout the rest of 2008. If you're looking for wins in deep leagues, consider Millwood for the second half.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 7/3, 7:31 PM CT
The Texas Rangers will skip Scott Feldman in the rotation and send Kevin Millwood to the mound on Sunday versus the Orioles, this according to MLB.com.

Our View: Millwood, who last started on Tuesday, July 1, will be working on regular (4-days) rest.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 7/1, 9:53 PM CT
Texas sent veteran RHP Kevin Millwood to the mound against the hated New York Yankees this evening, and while he failed to get a decision, he served his team well, going five innings to allow one run on five hits with one walk and six strikeouts.

Our View: Millwood totaled 84 pitches over that short span but made it count, though the relief pitching nearly blew it. This is his third no-decision in his last five stars.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 6/26, 10:08 PM CT
Kevin Millwood allowed seven earned runs in 5.1 innings to the Houston Astros and took the loss as the Rangers fell 7-2. He allowed 12 hits and saw his ERA rise to 5.08.

Our View: Millwood is too inconsistent to be worthy of a roster spot on your fantasy team, except maybe for deep AL only leagues. He has allowed at least five earned runs in five of his fifteen starts this season.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 6/21, 12:44 AM CT
Kevin Millwood lasted eight innings on Friday night allowing three runs to the Nationals in a no-decision. Millwood permitted seven hits and three walks on the evening.

Our View: Millwood has won his last three decisions and has allowed just five runs over his last 14 IP (3.21 ERA). He continues to bring his ratios down, but it's safe to assume they won't come down far enough to make him someone to count on in most mixed leagues.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 6/15, 3:42 PM CT
Kevin Millwood allowed two runs on five hits, walked four and struck out five in a 8-7 win over the New York Mets.

Our View: Millwood bounced back from a poor performance against Kansas City earlier in the week and earned his fifth win of the season.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 6/2, 5:27 PM CT
Kevin Millwood has had his next scheduled start pushed from Wednesday to Thursday due to a personal matter, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Sidney Ponson will move up a day and work on short rest.

Our View: Millwood will still be facing the Indians in a night game, so this news doesn't much affect his value.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 5/30, 10:04 PM CT
Kevin Millwood had a strong outing as he only allowed one run on five hits over six innings in Friday's 3-1 win over Oakland, with no walks and five strikeouts.

Our View: He evened his record to 3-3 over 10 starts, with a 4.50 ERA. That was his first start since landing on the DL due to a strained groin, and he is seemingly back on track, but it remains to be seen if he can stay healthy.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 5/29, 4:49 PM CT
Kevin Millwood, out due to a strained right groin, has been activated from the DL, according to the Associated Press. to make room for Millwood, Kameron Loe was demoted. Millwood will pitch against Oakland on Friday.

Our View: Millwood was hopeful of regaining his past glory this season, but he has been unable to stay healthy short circuiting that plan. At this point of his career he is merely an AL Only play, and even that is a bit of a stretch for a guy with an ERA approaching five (4.88) with a 1.69 WHIP.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 5/29, 9:46 AM CT
Kevin Millwood remains on pace to return from the DL on Friday, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: He will start on Friday against Oakland, barring a setback. He is expected to be limited to 85-90 pitches in his first start back, and you should keep him on your bench before considering him for your lineup again, especially since he held a 1.69 WHIP over 48 innings prior to landing on the DL with a strained groin.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 5/27, 5:28 PM CT
Kevin Millwood will be limited to 85-90 pitches in his first start Friday since returning from a strained right groin, according to the AP.

Our View: It would be a good idea to wait and see what Millwood has Friday before putting him in your lineup.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 5/24, 6:55 PM CT
Kevin Millwood has been cleared to return to the Rangers rotation and is scheduled to pitch Friday against the A's, according to MLB.com. He was given the go-ahead after throwing 65 pitches in a simulated game at Progressive Field on Saturday. Millwood has been sidelined for two weeks with a strained right groin. "My groin feels good, I didn't have any problems with it," Millwood said. "I felt my stuff and location was as good or better than it has been all year."

Our View: Millwood gave up 17 runs over his last 16 innings before his injury, so it would be best to see what he has for at least one start before activating him.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 5/23, 9:46 AM CT
Kevin Millwood will throw a simulated game on Saturday, the Dallas Morning News reports. The veteran hasn't been slated for a minor league rehab start, but manager Ron Washington would like to see Millwood make one outing before rejoining the rotation. Millwood is out due to a sore groin.

Our View: It would make sense for Millwood to work one outing in the minors, and we should have word on his next step after he throws on Saturday.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 5/22, 9:14 AM CT
Kevin Millwood had no problems or setbacks with his strained right groin during a fielding practice session Wednesday, according to the Dallas Morning News. He is expected to throw in the bullpen today and could make a rehab start Sunday.

Our View: Manager Ron Washington stated he is hopeful Millwood could return to the active roster for a May 30 start against Oakland.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 5/21, 9:02 AM CT
Kevin Millwood threw around 35-40 pitches during a bullpen session on Tuesday and experienced no soreness in his groin, according to the Dallas Morning News. Millwood will throw again Thursday.

Our View: The Rangers want to make sure they don't have a repeat of last season when Millwood came off the DL after 15 days, but lasted only one start before being shut down again.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 5/11, 1:19 PM CT
The Rangers placed Kevin Millwood on the 15-day DL on Sunday due to a strained right groin, the Dallas Morning News reports. He suffered the injury on Saturday.

Our View: This is worse than your average injury news because a upper-leg injury (hamstring) led to Millwood's bad struggles in 2007. We hope this ailment is mild and won't have such a lasting effect, but it's hard not to make a correlation.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 5/11, 7:35 AM CT
Kevin Millwood injured his right groin on Saturday night, and he will be re-evaluated on Sunday, the Dallas Morning News reports. The right-hander could end up on the DL, but the Rangers also have the luxury of moving his start back due to next Thursday's off-day.

Our View: We'll let you know when the club has an update. This could be a deal where the Rangers wait it out and see if Millwood can improve throughout the coming week. Leg injuries led to Kevin's struggles in 2007.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 5/10, 8:29 PM CT
Texas starter Kevin Millwood left today's game against Oakland with two outs in the first inning with an apparent leg injury, according to the Star Telegram.

Our View: Millwood seems to have suffered in the injury in the midst of a 3-0 pitch, though he attempted to play through but couldn't complete additional warm-up pitches to stay in the game. We will update as news becomes available.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 5/5, 11:49 PM CT
Kevin Millwood allowed seven runs on nine hits in just three innings of work, his shortest start of the season. Millwood and the Rangers lost their 10th straight road game as the Mariners beat Texas 7-3 on Monday night.

Our View: Millwood has been as inconsistent as any pitcher in the league this season. Tonight was an example of what the right-hander offers, even in a pitcher-friendly venue.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 4/30, 11:01 PM CT
Kevin Millwood survived to pick up his second victory of the season as he allowed five runs over 6.1 innings to the Royals.

Our View: This was the second straight outing in which Millwood allowed five earned runs, and if you are familiar with the idea of regression to the mean, you are seeing it right before you very eyes with Millwood.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesFriday 4/25, 12:40 PM CT
Kevin Millwood will be looking for his first career win against the Twins tonight, according to MLB.com. He is 0-5 with a 5.64 ERA lifetime against Minnesota.

Our View: Millwood is only 1-2 this season with a poor 1.56 WHIP over 32 innings, and he isn't a favorable fantasy option for tonight, going by his history against the Twins.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 4/20, 6:55 PM CT
Kevin Millwood scattered 10 hits, allowed two runs, walked two and struck out seven in Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

Our View: The Texas right-hander was in line for his second win of the season but his bullpen failed him. Millwood has been somewhat fortunate this year and his 2.53 ERA is deceiving. Like today the Rangers' ace has been the benefactor of some bases loaded outs and double plays that has kept his ERA in line. His WHIP 1.60 WHIP is more representative of his magic so far this season, something that will eventually catch up with the Texas right hander.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 4/16, 7:08 PM CT
Kevin Millwood will make his next scheduled start even though he was forced to leave his start on Tuesday night when he was hit by a comebacker on his left shin, this according to MLB.com. "I wouldn't say it's stiff," Millwood said, "but it's still a bit bruised and sore."

Our View: His next start will be against the Red Sox, so it might be wise to treat the game as if he is still injured and just leave him on the bench given the propensity of the Sox to batter struggling pitchers.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesThursday 4/10, 7:24 PM CT
Kevin Millwood was solid in Thursday's first game of a double header defeating Baltimore 3-1 and ended the Orioles' six-game winning streak. Millwood allowed only one run in seven innings to lower his ERA to 1.29.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 4/5, 10:58 PM CT
Kevin Millwood picked up a complete game loss on Saturday night as he held the Angels to just two runs on the night. Millwood scattered 12 hits on the evening but thanks to just one walk he was able to limit the damage. This is about as good a performance as we are likely to see from Millwood this season though the hope is his new training regime rekindles memories of his performance while wearing a Braves uniform.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 3/31, 10:43 PM CT

He isn't pleased with his pitch location but noted that his hamstring feels good, which is the important thing right now. Millwood has three outings left before he's scheduled to pitch the season opener on March 31. Millwood said, "I'd like to be able to pitch in a game where I have to do everything. I understand that right now, erring on the side of caution is better than trying to do more than I'm ready for."
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesMonday 3/10, 11:30 PM CT
Kevin Millwood threw 51 pitches in a simulated game on Monday and the results where encouraging, this according to MLB.com. "I felt good, I just wanted to throw the ball better than I did," Millwood said. "It's not my stuff, I just wasn't locating the ball very well." Millwood still hopes to be able to take the ball on opening day though it's uncertain if his hamstring woes have set him back to the point that he will be able to make his first start.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 3/5, 3:48 PM CT
Kevin Millwood worked to live hitters on Wednesday, throwing 38 pitches. His hamstring appeared to be fine, the Dallas Morning News reports. Hamstring issues were a major problem for Millwood in 2007, and he's not worth touching in combo leagues unless he proves the problem is behind him.
Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 3/2, 6:07 PM CT
Kevin Millwood, who's been dealing with a sore hamstring, threw a 10-minute bullpen session Sunday and had no problems. He will throw on the side again Monday and is scheduled to pitch a simulated game Wednesday. “It will be just like throwing my first game. I just don’t have to field my position or cover first base or anything like that,” Millwood said in the AP. “There are certain things where I can feel (the hamstring), but it’s nothing pitching that’s bothering me. I think the running and turning, things like that.” Millwood had hamstring issues last year, so it's important to keep an eye on him this spring to make sure the problem doesn't linger into the season.

The Dallas News reports that the Rangers are not going to mess around with Kevin Millwood 's tight right hamstring. The team has scratched him from his Friday spring start. Kevin Millwood tweaked his right hamstring while taking part in conditioning drills on Sunday, according to MLB.com. "Hopefully, this is minor," Millwood said. "We'll know more tomorrow." Kevin Millwood, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 2/10, 11:05 AM CT
Kevin Millwood will need to rebound this year in order for the Rangers to have a shot in the AL West. "He's taken his conditioning to a different level," said Mark Connor, the team's pitching coach. "But, as time goes by, you have to do that. He's worked hard on his core. I think he's on a mission because he wasn't satisfied with the way things went last year." Millwood threw only 172.2 innings, just the second time since 2002 that he has failed to throw 200, and his 5.16 ERA and 1.62 WHIP were clearly the worst numbers of his career. At 33-years of age, the question becomes how much gas does he have left in the tank pitching in that home park in Texas? Dallas Morning News
