Jason Grilli, P, Texas RangersWednesday 10/21, 3:29 PM CT
According to his own Twitter page, Jason Grilli has apparently been cut by the Texas Rangers.

Our View: Grilli had an unsightly 5.32 ERA last season, but is just one year removed from a 3.00 mark. For a reliever that has the ability to get out right and left-handed hitters relatively equally, there will be a place for him in someone's camp this spring. Provided he shows up in shape.

The Dallas Morning News is reporting that Rangers' reliever Jason Grilli may be on his way to returning to the team. Grilli posted on his Twitter page that he on a plane headed to Tampa and that he is "back in the SHOW!!!"

Our View: Grilli threw one scoreless inning at Double-A Frisco last night in his first rehab appearance, and apparently the Rangers liked what they saw enough to bring him back. He has been excellent out of the bullpen this season, and he will be a huge boost to the team when they need him the most.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Jason Grilli is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Thursday with Double-A Frisco.

Our View: Grilli has been DLed since the beginning of the month with elbow inflammation, but is close to returning and should only need a couple of rehab appearances. He's been a valuable member of Texas' bullpen and the Rangers can't get him back soon enough.

The Dallas Morning News is reporting that Jason Grilli is expected to be ready to come off the DL when he is eligible on Monday. Grilli has been sidelined with right elbow inflammation.

Our View: Grilli will look to pick up where he left off before getting hurt, as he had compiled a 1.53 ERA in his time with the Rangers. His fantasy value is slim, but he should provide a nice lift for the Rangers in their pen.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the Rangers have placed Jason Grilli on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation.

Our View: Grilli was pitching well since being acquired from the Rockies, so it's disappointing that the elbow became an issue. He was 1-1 with 1.53 ERA with the Rangers.

MLB.com is reporting that the Texas Rangers have acquired reliever Jason Grilli from the Colorado Rockies for cash.

Our View: Grilli was 0-1 with a 6.05 ERA in 22 games for the Rockies in 2009. He is not an option in any league at this point.

The Denver Post is reporting that the Rockies have designated Jason Grilli for assignment. In a corresponding move, the team has recalled Matt Daley from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Our View: Grilli had been struggling mightily, so this moves comes as no surprise. He had no fantasy value as a middle reliever, so fantasy owners should not be affected. He had a 6.05 ERA out of the Rockies' bullpen so far this season.
Jason Grilli, P, Texas RangersTuesday 1/20, 1:22 PM CT
Jason Grilli has signed a one-year deal worth $800,000 with the Rockies to avoid salary arbitration, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Grilli struck out 69 batters over 75 innings of relief last season, but held a merely passable 1.40 WHIP and doesn't look to hold much fantasy value in 2009.

Jason Grilli has verbally agreed to represent Italy in the World Baseball Classic, according to the Denver Post. Grilli said, "You get to play some real competitive baseball, it’s fun and it breaks up the monotony of spring training. When the people first heard about the WBC, they snickered and sneered, but I don’t think that’s the case anymore."

Our View: Grilli also noted that pitching in the 2006 tournament made him a better pitcher. He thought Rockies' teammate Chris Iannetta was going to follow him to Italy, but will be representing Team USA instead.

Jason Grilli has been traded to the Rockies for minor league pitcher Zach Simons so that the Tigers could make room on their roster for Francisco Cruceta, according to MLive.com.

Our View: Grilli is a servicable arm out of the pen, but his role and stuff won't allow him to be anything more than a desperation pickup in NL Only leagues.

Jason Grilli limped off the field after a line drive connected with his left knee in Saturday's game, the AP reports. X-rays were negative, and Grilli said he expected to be ready if needed Sunday night.
