Damian Miller is reportedly on the Padres' radar, according to the Union-Tribune. The team has sent Michael Barrett to the DL, and the 38-year old vet is possibly being talked about to fill his backup roster spot behind starter Josh Bard. Miller is fine as an experienced catcher, but won't offer much with his bat anymore.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that 38-year-old free agent catcher Damian Miller is leaning toward retirement at this point. Miller wants to stay close to home to be with his family more and turned down offers from teams far away. "I would have loved to come back [to Milwaukee] but I understand it's a business," Miller said. The Brewers will stage a spring training battle between Eric Munson and Mike Rivera for the backup catcher job behind newly-signed starter Jason Kendall.

Damian Miller took a foul tip off his right wrist during Wednesday's game. Bruising and swelling have kept him out of the lineup since, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "He's getting better," manager Ned Yost said. "His improvement in his throwing was really big between Friday and Saturday. Yesterday he felt a lot better but it still hurts quite a bit to swing the bat. It's just a bruise and it's going to take another day or two to get healthy." Miller's been available as an emergency option, but it probably will be a couple of more days before he's ready to start in place of Johnny Estrada again.
