Chris Richard, LF, Tampa Bay RaysMonday 9/7, 3:08 PM CT
Chris Richard is being recalled by the Tampa Bay Rays, according to the Twitter page of the Rays' Triple-A affiliate in Durham. Richard is expected to play in the nightcap of the doubleheader Monday night.

Our View: Richard is a career minor leaguer who is in his mid-30s, so this is great news for him. He is expected to play tonight, so wish him luck as the years of hard work pay off.

Chris Richard was named the International League Batter of the Week after hitting .429 with three homers and 13 RBI last week, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Our View: Richard is already 34, and is a career .258 hitter in the majors. He is not likely to get recalled as long as the Rays stay healthy at the corner infield spots.

The Rays have signed Chris Richard to a minor league deal, according to the Tampa Tribune. The team also signed 33-year-old right-handed pitcher Jason Childers to a minor league deal.

Our View: Richard enjoyed a strong campaign in the minors at Durham last season and will be invited to spring training, but is already 34 years old.
