| Luis Rivas appears to have a serious shot at making the Pirates' roster as a reserve, according to MLB.com. "Luis is a fierce competitor. He works hard and goes about his business," manager John Russell said. "He's in great shape. He's moving very well. He plays the game the right way. I'm very pleased with how he came in to camp, and I'm very pleased with what he's done so far." Although he was 0-for-4 on Tuesday, it was the first time he failed to reach base safely this spring. Whether he beats out Josh Wilson as the backup middle infielder likely won't be determine until the final week of spring training, but so far Rivas is looking in charge. |
