Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 10/5, 7:18 PM CT
Braves' GM Frank Wren is expected to explore the idea of trading Derek Lowe, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Lowe is due $45MM over the next three years of his contract with Atlanta, and the team could try to deal him to improve at other positions, such as in their outfield and first base.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 10/2, 10:51 PM CT
Derek Lowe was roughed up for six runs (five earned) on eight hits over 4.2 innings in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Nationals at Turner Field. He had five walks with four strikeouts.

Our View: Lowe displayed poor control tonight, and was dealt his 10th loss of 2009. He allowed three or more earned runs in each of his last three starts.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 9/27, 3:47 PM CT
Derek Lowe allowed three runs in six innings on Sunday, enough to keep Atlanta in the game, as they rallied for a 6-3, ten inning win in Washington.

Our View: Despite being 15-9, Lowe has a 4.55 ERA for the Braves this season, and could be shopped this winter.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 9/27, 11:00 AM CT
Newsday speculates that the Braves will shop Derek Lowe, and the $45 million remaining on his contract through 2012, this offseason.

Our View: Lowe has been somewhat of a disappointment in an otherwise very stout Braves rotation this season. Since the All-Star break, he has posted a 4.79 ERA and 1.61 WHIP in 13 starts. For the season, he is 15-9 with a 4.55 ERA.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 9/21, 8:50 PM CT
Derek Lowe gave up three earned runs on six hits over five innings in Monday's 11-3 win at the Mets. He had no walks with five strikeouts.

Our View: Lowe was not dominant tonight, but pitched well enough to collect his 15th win of 2009. That marks his highest win total since 2006, when he had 16 victories with the Dodgers.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 9/17, 10:15 AM CT
MLB.com reports that the Braves feel Derek Lowe (blister) should be fine for his next start.

Our View: Manager Bobby Cox seems to think that with a week of rest the blister should heal in time for Lowe's next start. And who are we to argue with Bobby Cox? He lasted just two innings Wednesday because of the injury and if for some reason he's not ready for his next start Kenshin Kawakami would likely get the call.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 9/16, 9:53 PM CT
Derek Lowe was forced to leave his start on Wednesday night after just two innings because of a blister on his pitching hand, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: We will update his status when more information becomes available. Just know that blisters often linger for pitchers.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 9/10, 10:41 PM CT
Derek Lowe struggled on Thursday, but his offense bailed him out. The crafty right-hander won his 14th game despite allowing five runs on nine hits and two walks over 5.2 innings.

Our View: Lowe has been a disappointment this season. After finishing with a 3.24 ERA last season expectations were high, and he has failed to deliver thus far. In comparison, this season's 4.47 ERA seems poisonous.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 9/4, 9:32 PM CT
Derek Lowe was good, but not good enough, on Friday as the Braves fell to the Reds 3-1. Lowe went seven innings and allowed three runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out five.

Our View: Lowe put together a quality start for the Braves tonight, but his offense couldn't muster any support. The Braves can't afford to drop many games to team like the Reds if they are going to stay in the playoff hunt, so this one has to hurt a bit in Atlanta.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 8/29, 11:31 PM CT
Derek Lowe allowed just one run in 5.1 innings on Saturday, as the Braves won a rain-shortened eight inning affair against the Phillies 9-1.

Our View: The win was Lowe's 13th of the year, a number he has now reached in six of his last eight seasons.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 8/23, 5:00 PM CT
Derek Lowe was tagged for five runs (three earned) on nine hits over five innings in Sunday's 7-5 win over the Marlins at Turner Field. He had one walk and three strikeouts.

Our View: Florida was leading 5-4 when Lowe exited, so he ends the day with a no-decision. He was rocked for eight earned runs over 3.2 innings in his last start against the Mets, and he at least had a better outing against the Marlins.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 8/18, 10:40 PM CT
Derek Lowe was crunched by a limping Mets' offense devoid of superstars on Tuesday night. He was ripped to the tune of eight runs on 11 hits over just 3.2 innings. He did not walk or fan a batter in the 9-4 loss.

Our View: Lowe is now 12-8 on the season, and looked to have his season back on track after grossly stumbling in June. But Tuesday's messy started broke a string of seven straight quality outings.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 8/12, 8:53 PM CT
Derek Lowe pitched seven tough innings on Wednesday night, allowing just two runs while putting 11 people on base, to earn his 12th win in the Braves 6-2 against the Nats.

Our View: After looking dead in the water in late June, where his ERA rose to 4.44, Lowe has strung together a string of good starts to improve his record to 12-7 and bring his ERA back down to 4.08.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 8/7, 12:29 AM CT
Derek Lowe allowed ten baserunners in 6.1 innings on Thursday, but just two runs. He was denied his 12th win, however, as Andre Ethier hit a three run ninth inning homer for a 5-4 Dodgers win.

Our View: Lowe has just 13 Ks in his last five starts, and has been getting by more on guile than stuff in 2009. Not a bad strategy for a little while, but as teams get more used to his junk, he's only going to get hit harder going forward.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 8/1, 6:00 PM CT
Derek Lowe gave up three earned runs on five hits over six innings in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Dodgers at Turner Field. He had two walks and two strikeouts.

Our View: Lowe did not did have a strong outing, but the Braves provided enough run support for him to claim his team-leading 11th win of 2009. Lowe has a three-game winning streak as well.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 7/26, 5:10 PM CT
Derek Lowe reached double digits in wins for the eighth straight season on Sunday, cruising threw six innings of a 10-2 Braves blowout against the Brewers.

Our View: The 36-year-old Lowe has looked older this season, but craftier as well. After giving up eighteen runs combined in a three game stretch in June, he has settled down and looked more like the pitcher the Braves gave the big bucks to in the offseason.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 7/21, 9:05 PM CT
Derek Lowe won for only the second time since June 9 on Tuesday, as the Braves easily bested the Giants 8-1 in Atlanta.

Our View: Lowe has looked like a decidedly ordinary pitcher since sprinting out of the gates to a 6-2 record, and has struck out very few batters the last two months. He could very easily have a good second half, but don't expect him to work wonders.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 7/16, 9:26 PM CT
Derek Lowe was solid if unspectacular on Thursday, allowing three earned runs in six innings and taking a no decision as the Braves beat the Mets 5-3 at home.

Our View: Lowe's ERA is now up to 4.40 on the season, and his WHIP is a mediocre 1.40. He's very capable of getting back on track soon, but has had only three quality starts since June 1, and is mired in a run of bad outings. Now could be a good time to buy low on the veteran righty.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 7/5, 5:17 PM CT
Derek Lowe was rocked for four earned runs on 10 hits over 5.1 innings in Sunday's 5-3 loss at Washington. He had one walk and one strikeout.

Our View: Lowe falls to 7-7 and his ERA rises to 4.56. He is winless over his last five starts, and was dealt four losses over the span. He has been a disappointment for the Braves (and fantasy owners) as of late.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 6/30, 9:31 PM CT
Derek Lowe only gave up two earned runs on seven hits over six innings in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Phillies at Turner Field. He had three walks and four strikeouts.

Our View: Lowe pitched well, but was forced to take a no-decision rather than a win. He has now gone four straight starts without collecing a win.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 6/25, 10:15 PM CT
Derek Lowe got bombed on Thursday night by the Yankees, surrendering eight runs (six earned) in only three innings of work as the Bombers beat the Braves 11-7.

Our View: Lowe has hit a rough patch after an excellent start, giving up 16 earned runs in his last three starts. He has seen his ERA balloon from 3.44 to 4.53 during that span. He should correct himself soon, but if you have a decent alternative option, you may want to bench him his next start just in case he has one more clunker in him.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 6/20, 8:57 PM CT
Derek Lowe rebounded nicely on Saturday after a rough start in his last outing, but he was still hit with the loss as the Braves fell to the Red Sox 3-0. Lowe went 6.1 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out two.

Our View: Still not a dominating performance by Lowe, but it was significantly better than his last start. Lowe needs to return to his early season form if he wants to remain a top fantasy pitcher, but he is still solid for the time being.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 6/14, 3:28 PM CT
Derek Lowe lasted only 2.1 innings in Sunday's 11-2 loss in Baltimore. He gave up eight hits while walking three more and allowing seven earned runs in the game. He needed 80 pitches, but only had seven outs to show for it.

Our View: Lowe had completed at least seven innings in his last five starts. He is normally a very reliable starter who pumps out a lot of quality starts. Today just wasn't his day and we expect him to rebound in his next outing.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 6/9, 9:26 PM CT
Derek Lowe allowed three earned runs on seven hits over seven innings in Tuesday's 4-3 win over Pittsburgh at Turner Field. He had one walk and four strikeouts.

Our View: Lowe earned his team-leading seventh win of the season, with three coming at home. He has proven to be a strong offseason acquisition for Atlanta.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 6/3, 10:17 PM CT
Derek Lowe allowed only two runs in seven innings on Wednesday but did not factor into the decision. The Braves fell in 11 innings 3-2 to the Cubs. He allowed seven base runners while striking out four.

Our View: Lowe has allowed two runs in five of his last six starts and three runs in the other. Still, he is just 2-2 over that stretch as the Braves offense has not provided him with much run support.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 5/28, 11:41 PM CT
Derek Lowe was hit with the loss on Thursday as the Braves fell to the Diamondbacks 5-2. Lowe went seven innings and allowed five runs (three earned) on ten hits while striking out two.

Our View: Lowe was not as good as usual tonight, and he fell to 6-3 with the loss. He is a good pitcher, but his strikeout totals aren't great, so keep that in mind. He is still a solid fantasy pitcher, so keep playing him.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 5/23, 11:17 PM CT
Derek Lowe improved to 6-2 on Saturday, surrendering two runs to Toronto off five hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

Our View: Though he'll always leave a bit to be desired in the strikeout category, Lowe remains one of the more reliable starters in all of baseball.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 5/18, 8:53 PM CT
Derek Lowe was impressive on Monday but he took the loss against the Rockies as the Braves fell 5-1. Lowe went eight innings and allowed two runs on three hits while walking one and striking out three.

Our View: Lowe was good, but he was outdueled by Rockies' starter Jason Marquis. He only gave up three hits in his eight innings, but his offense couldn't give him any support. Lowe has been outstanding so far this season, so expect him to deliver more wins than losses as the season goes on.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 5/18, 10:05 AM CT
Derek Lowe will start Monday's game against the Rockies, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View: He was slated to pitch Sunday, but the game (against Arizona) was postponed due to rain. Lowe would likely have preferred to face the Diamondbacks, as he is 4-1 with a 1.96 ERA over his career against them.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 5/11, 9:57 PM CT
Derek Lowe improved to 5-1 on Monday, giving up two runs off five hits and two walks with one strikeout against the Mets.

Our View: Lowe was coming off a rough performance against Florida last week but was able to get back on track. He's gotten off to a fine start with Atlanta and, while he won't rack up big strikeout numbers, he remains one of the more dependable fantasy starters in baseball.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 4/25, 3:31 PM CT
Derek Lowe continued his strong start in a Braves' uniform as he allowed just two runs to the Reds over seven innings to pick up his second victory of the year.

Our View: Lowe lowered his ERA to 3.10, and he continued his strong start in the strikeout department with eight punchouts giving him 25 in 29 innings. Lowe has posted an ERA below 3.90 in each of the past four years, but he has never posted 150-Ks in a season, so expect the strikeout rate to slow moving forward.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 4/20, 11:44 PM CT
Derek Lowe did not bring his best stuff against Washington on Monday, suffering a loss after surrendering three runs off seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts in six innings.

Our View: Lowe has not looked very sharp since his dominating performance over the Phillies to open the season. Still, if his career track record has shown us anything, he should be able to get back on track sooner rather than later and be a consistently solid starter for your fantasy squad the majority of the season.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 4/15, 10:46 PM CT
Derek Lowe struggled for the first time this season in Wednesday's 10-4 loss to Florida. He allowed four runs on seven hits and five walks over just five innings before being pulled.

Our View: Lowe struggled mightily with his command on Wednesday, which is uncommon for him. Any time you average a walk per inning it gets you into trouble. Hopefully this is something Lowe remedies before heading to the mound again.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 4/5, 10:45 PM CT
Derek Lowe was masterful on Sunday night in his first official start in a Braves' uniform. He tossed eight shutout innings and stingily allowed just two hits. He struck out four, did not walk a man and was credited with 2009's first win.

Our View: This was Lowe at his best. He was pounding his sinker, keeping hitters off balance and effectively changing speeds. He had Greg Maddux type movement on the ball and looks like he'll fit in nicely in Atlanta. They won't all be like this, but this certainly won't be the last time you see Lowe sparkle this season.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 3/30, 9:51 AM CT
Derek Lowe will take the hill for the Braves on opening day on April 5 at Philadelphia, and will also start their home opener April 10 against the Nationals, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View: Lowe will be looking for his first win on opening day, as he was 0-3 in three openers with the Dodgers.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 3/26, 2:52 PM CT
Derek Lowe threw 6.0 innings, allowing just five hits and one run while striking out seven and walking none in the Braves' 7-5 spring training loss to the Blue Jays on Thursday.

Our View: Lowe rebounded nicely from a so-so start last week. He now has a 3.27 ERA for the spring, and remains a solid option for fantasy owners in all leagues.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 3/20, 3:24 PM CT
Derek Lowe was rocked for four earned runs on seven hits over five innings in Friday's 8-6 loss to the Marlins, with no walks and two strikeouts.

Our View: Lowe had a poor outing, but should bounce back fine. He should continue to be targeted as a No. 2 fantasy pitcher in mixed leagues.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 3/10, 3:29 PM CT
Derek Lowe hurled four hitless innings in Tuesday's 7-4 win over Houston in the Grapefruit League, with no walks and six strikeouts.

Our View: The 35-year-old vet is worth targeting as a No. 2 fantasy hurler. He should benefit from playing his home games at pitcher-friendly Turner Field.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 2/28, 3:40 PM CT
Derek Lowe was shaky in his spring debut with the Braves, as he allowed one earned run on five hits over two innings in Saturday's 6-3 win over Toronto. He fired three strikeouts with no walks.

Our View: Lowe should bounce back following an unimpressive first outing, and remains worthy of drafting as a No. 2 fantasy hurler.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 1/13, 9:51 AM CT
As expected, Derek Lowe has signed a four-year, $60 million deal with the Atlanta Braves, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View: The Braves have been trying to acquire a top-level pitcher since the offseason began, first by attempting to trade for Jake Peavy, then by offering big money to A.J. Burnett. While Lowe is not as dominant as Peavy, and lacks the upside of Burnett, he is a steady performer who will give them 200 innings at the front of their rotation.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 1/13, 7:52 AM CT
SI.com reports that free agent right-hander Derek Lowe and the Atlanta Braves are getting serious in discussions and nearing a deal.

Our View: The Braves are believed to be offering Lowe a contract for four years and $60 million. That amount is much more than Lowe's offer from the Mets, which was just three years for $36 million.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 1/9, 11:06 PM CT
Updating a previous report, the Braves will make their first offer to free-agent Derek Lowe early next week, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The Braves appear to be closing in on Kenshin Kawakami but they have more than one opening in their starting rotation, especially now that John Smoltz appears to be out of the picture.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 1/9, 12:24 PM CT
Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated believes that the Phillies may still be considering Derek Lowe, even though the club is denying interest.

Our View: Heyman also believes the Angels and Brewers are outside possibilities for Lowe, but all is purely speculation.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 1/9, 9:23 AM CT
The Braves reportedly made an undisclosed offer to free agent hurler Derek Lowe, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View: The Braves were unable to land AJ Burnett or Jake Peavy, and the club may be feeling pressure to reel in Lowe after losing John Smoltz to Boston. It is uncertain if the Braves' offer exceeded the Mets' bid of $36 million over three years.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 1/8, 8:57 AM CT
Derek Lowe is scheduled to meet with the Braves today, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: The Braves need to replace John Smoltz, who has agreed to a deal with the Red Sox. The Braves would have to battle the Mets to land Lowe.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 1/6, 4:55 PM CT
ESPN.com reports that agent Scott Boras was in New York Tuesday to conduct discussions with the Mets' front office concerning a potential deal involving free-agent pitcher Derek Lowe. The Mets are reportedly in now way willing to sweeten the three-year, $36 million offer they have already extended to Lowe. Boras is looking to obtain a deal that calls for five years in excess of $80 million.

Our View: Boras' visit to NYC is three-pronged. Primarily in town for the press conference welcoming Mark Teixeira to the Yankees, Boras intends to hold talks with the Mets concerning his other free-agent client, Oliver Perez. It seems as though the Mets are negotiating with Perez in the event an agreement with Lowe cannot be reached.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 1/6, 12:29 PM CT
GM Doug Melvin denied the rumor that the Brewers were targeting Derek Lowe, according to MLB.com. Melvin simply stated, "We're not in on him."

Our View: The club isn't interested in Oliver Perez or Jon Garland either, but have not ruled out bringing back Ben Sheets.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 1/6, 8:14 AM CT
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports believes that Derek Lowe is not the Mets' top choice among free agent pitchers.

Our View: The club may favor bringing back Oliver Perez as he is familiar with pitching in New York, is left-handed, and eight years younger than Lowe. Perez has good stuff, but Lowe would be more stable and reliable.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 1/5, 11:57 PM CT
The Mets do not intend to raise their offer to Derek Lowe, according to Newsday.

Our View: The Mets initial offer to Lowe was three years and $36 million. He's been looking for a five-year, $80 million deal but it's highly unlikely that he'll get that kind of deal in this economy.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 1/5, 8:32 AM CT
Kat O'Brien of Newsday indicates that the Mets' negotiations with Derek Lowe are expected to heat up this week.

Our View: Lowe is seeking $16 million a year, and it remains to be seen if the Mets will increase their previous offer of a three-year deal worth $36 million. Inking Lowe would be a another big step forward in the Mets' bid to return to the playoffs after falling short in their previous two campaigns.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 1/3, 8:01 PM CT
Derek Lowe turned down the Mets' three-year deal worth $36 million, as he covets $16 million a season, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.

Our View: The Phillies and Braves are the Mets' top rivals to sign Lowe, but it remains to be seen if either club will give in to Lowe's demands. The Red Sox are also known to like Lowe.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 1/2, 10:25 AM CT
Expanding on an earlier report, the New York Post reports that free-agent hurler Derek Lowe will in no way accept the New York Mets' offer of three years and $36 million—unless this is the best offer on the table.

Our View: Lowe and agent Scott Boras seemed turned off by that fact that Seattle's Carlos Silva received the same amount of money in last season's free-agent market, albeit for a four-year deal. According to sources, Lowe deems himself far better than Silva and continues to look for an offer that exceeds Silva's salary.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 1/1, 7:11 AM CT
The Boston Globe reports that Derek Lowe will not sign the Mets three-year, $36 million dollar contract, as he is looking for more money and more years.

Our View: He was originally seeking a five-year, $90 million deal, but he is more likely to get half of that. The Mets will likely increase their offer at some point. The 35-year-old has not garnered as much interest as he had hoped, especially from the Boston Red Sox.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 12/31, 5:00 PM CT
The New York Mets are willing to financially expand on their three-year, $36 million offer to free-agent pitcher Derek Lowe, but don't expect them to add on a fourth year to the deal, the New York Times reports.

Our View: Recent gaudy free-agent pitcher contracts, namely those given to CC Sabathia and A.J. Burnett, are definitely not helping the Mets' cause. Lowe's agent, Scott Boras, said the hurler, who turns 36 in June, is seeking more than what the Mets are offering but would not specify as to how much more Lowe is demanding.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 12/31, 8:13 AM CT
Derek Lowe commented that the Red Sox never garnered serious interest in him, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View: It is believed it is only a matter of time before Lowe inks with the Mets, who offered him a three-year deal reportedly worth $36 million.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 12/30, 7:21 PM CT
The Mets have made an offer to Derek Lowe, according to the New York Times. The deal is reportedly worth $36 million over three years.

Our View: This is well below the five-year, $90 million deal that Lowe has been looking for, but the economy has brought down other players' offers as well, like K-Rod taking about half the money that he was looking for from the Mets.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 12/25, 10:19 AM CT
The New York Daily News reports Derek Lowe's reported imminent signing with the Mets is unfounded, though the two sides could make progress next week.

Our View: With Boston's reported disinterest in losing their first-round draft choice for Lowe, the Mets seem to be the clear frontrunner to sign him.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 12/25, 8:54 AM CT
According to the Boston Herald, the Red Sox are unlikely to sign Derek Lowe since he is a Type A free agent and would cause them to lose their first-round draft choice in 2009.

Our View: Had the Red Sox signed Mark Teixeira, they would have already lost their first-round pick and would have pursued Lowe more aggressively. Lowe has been linked to the Mets most recently.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 12/24, 11:15 AM CT
Derek Lowe is very close to signing with the New York Mets, according to the Boston Globe. The deal is reportedly going to be either three or four years at somewhere in the $15 million a year neighborhood.

Our View: Lowe, who went 14-11 with the Dodgers last year, would make for a solid number two behind Johan Santana. He would probably stand to win more games with the Mets since their lineup is better and thus could give him more offensive support.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 12/23, 4:20 PM CT
The Mets are deep in negotiations for free agent pitcher Derek Lowe, according to Yahoo Sports.

Our View: Lowe will more than likely end up with the Mets as he seems to be out of the price range for every other club that may be interested.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 12/23, 10:31 AM CT
Buster Olney of ESPN indicates the Dodgers won't attempt to bring back Derek Lowe despite his falling price tag.

Our View: This improves the chances of other interested clubs in landing Lowe, such as the Mets and Red Sox.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 12/20, 6:52 PM CT
The Mets are interested in bringing in Derek Lowe or Oliver Perez for the front of their rotation and Tim Redding for the back, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Our View: The Mets have already improved their bullpen with the additions of K-Rod via free agency and JJ Putz via trade. They already have a formidable lineup, so they could challenge the defending World Champ Phillies for the NL East crown if they improve their rotation as well.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 12/20, 8:29 AM CT
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports believes Derek Lowe is likely to join the Red Sox.

Our View: Boston is among the top suitors to reel in Lowe, joining the Mets. There is belief that Atlanta may make a run at Lowe as well, after missing out on AJ Burnett and likely Jake Peavy. Lowe is the most reliable free agent hurler still available.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 12/19, 9:09 AM CT
David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution suggests that the Braves could reconsider Derek Lowe now that he is the only reliable free agent "ace" pitcher left.

Our View: The Braves are not believed to be interested in pursuing an alternate infielder after missing out on Rafael Furcal, and now look to focus on pitching. The source also believes the Braves may consider Ben Sheets.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 12/19, 8:30 AM CT
Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated believes Derek Lowe is the Mets' first choice among the remaining free agent hurlers.

Our View: The Mets like his consistency and solid track record with durability. Adding Lowe would be another big step in the Mets' bid to make the playoffs in 2009.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 12/16, 11:36 PM CT
The Cubs might be in on Derek Lowe, according to Sports Illustrated. Lowe could be a backup option if the Jake Peavy deal doesn't re-materialize. Peavy has $63 million and four years left on his contract and Lowe expects a deal similar to those numbers.

Our View: If the Cubs were to sign Lowe, they would still need to move Jason Marquis as that would leave them with six starting pitchers.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 12/13, 4:24 PM CT
Derek Lowe is unlikely to sign with the Yankees after the club already locked up both CC Sabathia and AJ Burnett, according to the Central Maine Sports Blog.

Our View: The Mets are one of the few teams that are both still looking for pitching help and in Lowe's price range.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 12/11, 11:41 AM CT
The Braves are not expected to chase Derek Lowe if they are unable to reel in AJ Burnett, according to ESPN.

Our View: The Braves are interested in other hurlers, however. One is believed to be Randy Wolf. This news increases the chances that Lowe may return to Boston.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 12/11, 9:55 AM CT
Jayson Stark of ESPN reports that the Yankees would still be interested in Derek Lowe if they sign AJ Burnett.

Our View: After landing CC Sabathia, the Yankees would like to add two more starters from a pool of AJ Burnett, Derek Lowe, Ben Sheets, and Andy Pettitte. They would like to sign one of their pitchers to a short-term deal, but have not ruled out adding both Burnett and Lowe.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 12/11, 7:41 AM CT
The Mets are seemingly out of the race to land prized free agent starters Derek Lowe and AJ Burnett, according to the Hot Stove Blog on MLB.com. The Mets added elite relievers K-Rod and JJ Putz to the bullpen and GM Omar Minaya said, "I'm probably not going to be in there right now, financially. Not after spending all the money that I did on K-Rod."

Our View: The Mets are now going to pursue other options that includes bringing back Oliver Perez and Pedro Martinez.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 12/10, 5:22 PM CT
ESPN.com reports that the Phillies have not made an offer to Derek Lowe and are not beieved to be pursuing him, as had been previously reported.

Our View: Lowe still has plenty of suitors ranging from the Yankees to the Mets to the Red Sox. He will likely cash in big in the next couple weeks.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 12/10, 3:35 PM CT
The Yankees are making progress in their negotiations with Derek Lowe, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. Lowe is expected to receive a deal for between three and five years with an annual salary of around $17 million.

Our View: Another source indicated that the reports stating the Yankees are close to inking Lowe are premature. The Yankees are also still talking to AJ Burnett and Andy Pettitte. The club may ultimately be able to add two of the three mentioned hurlers, after already reeling in CC Sabathia.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 12/10, 12:47 PM CT
The Brewers need to replace CC Sabathia (and potentially Ben Sheets) from the top of their rotation, but MLB.com indicates they are not likely to target free agent Derek Lowe. They are not expected to chase AJ Burnett either.

Our View: The Brewers do not intend to pursue a high-profile starter and attempting to re-sign CC Sabathia was deemed a "special case" by GM Doug Melvin.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 12/9, 5:41 PM CT
The Yankees are negotiating a four-year deal worth more than $65 million with Derek Lowe and his agent Scott Boras, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View: Lowe has drawn interest from the Mets, Red Sox, and Phillies in addition to the Yankees.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 12/9, 1:53 PM CT
The New York Post reports that the Mets will turn their attention towards Derek Lowe once they put the finishing touches on a deal for Francisco Rodriguez.

Our View: Lowe could actually get near the five-year, $80 million deal that he covets due to the involvement of the Red Sox, Yankees, Phillies and Mets. It may make more sense to go after cheaper alternatives like Oliver Perez or Jon Garland.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 12/9, 10:32 AM CT
The Boston Globe reports that one Phillies official denies the presence of a three-year deal for Derek Lowe, while another major league source says Lowe likes the Phillies as a possible destination.

Our View: Lowe will likely get a lot of attention over the next couple weeks, but deals probably won't be offered until Burnett and Sabathia get signed.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 12/8, 1:16 AM CT
The L.A. Times reports that starter Derek Lowe has officially become a free agent now that he has declined arbitration.

Our View: Early indications suggest Lowe may play in Boston next season, but he likely won't be signed until other big name pitchers agree to deals.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 12/6, 10:45 AM CT
The Red Sox are unlikely to get into a bidding war for Derek Lowe, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: We'll have to see how the starting pitching market develops, but Lowe is probably in the top three of free agent starting pitchers remaining on the market, behind only C.C. Sabathia and A.J. Burnett.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 12/5, 2:14 PM CT
Free agent Derek Lowe is seeking $90 million over five years, according to Sports Illustrated. That is $10 million higher than his previous asking price.

Our View: Yankees' GM Brian Cashman reportedly garnered "heavy interest" in Lowe to his agent (Scott Boras) on Thursday. It is unclear if Cashman made him an offer.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 12/4, 10:19 AM CT
Derek Lowe has reportedly received offers from at least two MLB clubs, according to the Boston Globe. One if known to be from the Phillies.

Our View: The other team was not disclosed, but it is not from the Red Sox or Yankees. The Mets are also interested in him, but remains uncertain if they made him an offer.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 11/30, 4:32 PM CT
Derek Lowe has not even begun discussing numbers with any teams that have expressed interest, according to the Boston Globe. He has said that he will not sign with a seemingly weak team to get more money.

Our View: Lowe has been a very solid starter in his later career, but if he's still looking for $16 million per season, he may disappointed. His suitors may not come calling until the truly desirable starters begin signing deals. The good news for him is the teams figured to be interested in him - Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, Phillies, etc. - all enjoy spending tons of money.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 11/26, 9:31 AM CT
The Phillies have contacted Derek Lowe, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View: The champs want to re-sign Jamie Moyer, but have inquired about Lowe, possibly as a backup plan.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 11/23, 9:16 AM CT
Derek Lowe is a hotter free agent than the Mets anticipated, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View: The Mets were targeting Lowe as a viable replacement for Oliver Perez, but now may let him go and pursue less expensive options, such as Jon Garland. Lowe covets a five-year deal for $80 million.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 11/20, 1:29 PM CT
Derek Lowe is seeking a five-year deal for $80 million, according to ESPN.

Our View: The Yankees, Mets, Rangers, Braves, Red Sox and Dodgers are all said to be interested in acquiring the 35-year-old pitcher's services.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 11/19, 8:51 AM CT
Derek Lowe's agent (Scott Boras) is telling interested teams that he is looking for a Zito-type deal, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Our View: Barry Zito inked a seven-year deal with the Giants last season worth $126 million. Lowe is 35, but Boras called him he safest bet among all free agent hurlers.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 11/18, 9:40 AM CT
Newsday reports that the Yankees may make an offer to free agent pitcher Derek Lowe soon.

Our View: The Dodgers, Red Sox, Mets, and Rangers are among the other clubs believed to be interested in signing Lowe. He would be a solid addition to any of these clubs, as he pitched 211 innings in 2008, with a strong 1.13 WHIP.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 11/15, 1:35 PM CT
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution believes the Braves may make an offer to Derek Lowe now that their proposal to land Jake Peavy is dead.

Our View: Lowe is not in the same class as Peavy, but would still be a strong addition to the Braves' rotation, as he held a 1.13 WHIP over 211 innings for the NL West champion Dodgers in 2008. The Braves may also target AJ Burnett or Ryan Dempster.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 11/14, 4:46 PM CT
The Yankees are set to pursue Derek Lowe and may attempt to outbid their rivals the Red Sox for him, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View: The Yankees are trying to scoop up all of the top starting pitchers that they can. Being patient last season and not trading for Johan Santana may have cost them the playoffs, and the Yankees appear to be abandoning the wait-and-see approach just as quickly as they adopted it.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 11/13, 7:51 AM CT
The Boston Red Sox have already spoken to Scott Boras, the agent for free agent pitcher Derek Lowe, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Boston is apparently Lowe's preferred team, so the feeling seems to be mutual. The question is how much the Red Sox are willing to spend on the 35-year-old.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 11/5, 4:25 PM CT
The Boston Globe reports that the Red Sox are Derek Lowe's top choice of team's he would like to sign with this winter.

Our View: Lowe probably wants a five year deal and it's unlikely Boston will offer that long of a deal. He was 14-11 with a 3.24 ERA for the Dodgers last season.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 10/24, 11:37 AM CT
Derek Lowe had a solid year for the Dodgers, going 14-11 with a 3.24 ERA over the course of 34 starts. The Red Sox believe his year may be a bit of an outlier, and think it has pushed him above fair value, according to the Boston Herald. Lowe could get a deal for three to four years, with an average salary of about $14 million to $15 million. The Red Sox were hoping to pay him closer to $10 million a year.

Our View: The Red Sox have not been cheap when it comes to getting their man in recent years, so Lowe is still a possibility. However, the Mets may outbid them. Lowe's money could also be affected by the Ben Sheets and C.C. Sabathia deals, and the Red Sox might not have to bid as hard if two of the big market clubs, like the Mets and Yankees, in need of a starter go in that direction instead of Lowe.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 10/24, 9:30 AM CT
The Mets plan on targeting Derek Lowe in the offseason, according to the NY Post.

Our View: Lowe pitched 211 innings with the Dodgers this season, and would help a Mets' bullpen that was gravely overworked, but the Mets are not among his preferred destinations at the moment.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 10/22, 12:45 PM CT
Free agent hurler Derek Lowe has disclosed a few preferred destinations, like Boston, but did not rule out remaining with the Dodgers, according to the Star-Ledger. He said, "I want to be with an organization that's committed to winning and that can win. An organization that is going to be there year in and year out and do everything. That's what means the most to me at this stage of my career."

Our View: He is scheduled to meet with Dodgers' skipper Joe Torre this week to discuss his future. He enjoyed a solid campaign with the NL West champions this season, with a 3.24 ERA and 1.13 WHIP, while nailing down 14 wins.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 10/19, 9:28 AM CT
Derek Lowe is putting Boston first on his list of preferred destinations now that he's a free agent, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Lowe noted that while money is important, he wants to go to a quality club committed to winning, and no organization, in his mind, fits that description better than Boston. Lowe left Boston after the 2004 season to sign a four-year, $36 million deal with the Dodgers.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 10/18, 7:35 AM CT
The New York Yankees are not only after the two marquee pitchers on the free agent market in CC Sabathia and A.J. Burnett, but they also will be looking to sign Derek Lowe, according to SI.com.

Our View: It has been reported that Lowe wants to stay on the West Coast, but when the Yankees call with bags full of money, minds can be changed quickly.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 10/15, 4:15 PM CT
Derek Lowe will not end up signing with the Yankees or Mets this fall if you ask his teammates, according to Fox Sports. Ken Rosenthal has written that Lowe apparently wants to stay on the left coast though the Braves are still expressing strong interest.

Our View: Lowe won 14 games with a 3.24 ERA and 1.13 WHIP, and will likely be at the top of a whole bushel of teams wishlists this offseason as one of the top arms available on the free agent market.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 10/13, 11:19 PM CT
Derek Lowe did his part in trying to even up the series with Philadelphia, throwing 5 innings and allowing just two runs on three days' rest, but L.A. still lost and now trail three games to one.

Our View: That may have been Lowe's final start in a Dodger uniform, as he is a free agent after the season. If so, it was a solid effort.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 10/12, 1:18 PM CT
Derek Lowe is on the Yankees' radar, along with CC Sabathia and AJ Burnett, according to the NY Post.

Our View: It is believed the club will try to sign one, and preferably two of the three mentioned free agent hurlers. If they only sign one, the 35-year-old Lowe would likely come at the lowest price. He held a solid 3.24 ERA and 1.13 WHIP this season, while nailing down 14 wins for the NL West champion Dodgers.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 10/11, 8:21 PM CT
Derek Lowe will start for the Dodgers in Game 4 of the NLCS against the Phillies. The right-hander will also get the call if there is a Game 7, the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Our View: Lowe will be starting on three days' rest in Game 4, but that shouldn't be a worry given the importance of the contest. He has pitched very, very well since May, and the Dodgers are wise to live or die with their best arm on the mound.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 10/9, 10:09 PM CT
Derek Lowe was stellar through five innings but the wheels came off in the sixth when he allowed two home runs. The three earned runs he surrendered were enough to lose the game on Thursday.

Our View: Lowe was been phenomenal in his previous 11 starts and for most of his playoff career. His sinker was working tonight, but two mistakes was all it took for him to take home a loss.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 10/1, 9:08 PM CT
Derek Lowe settled down after a second inning two-run home run. He lasted six innings, struck out six and scattered seven hits and a walk to earn the victory in Game 1 of the NLDS.

Our View: As typical, Lowe got hitters to pound the ball down. He allowed just three flyballs as opposed to nine groundballs. Lowe has appeared in 18 postseason games with a 3.36 ERA.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 9/28, 8:35 AM CT
The Boston Globe indicates there are a few clubs interested in Derek Lowe. He does not believe he will be back with the Dodgers and the Red Sox are among the teams interested, who he pitched eight seasons with. When asked about returning to Boston, Lowe said, "I loved playing for the Red Sox. Any player would love to play for an organization like that. I always wanted to stay there."

Our View: Lowe enjoyed a solid campaign with the Dodgers in 2008 as he holds a 14-11 record with a 3.24 ERA and 1.13 WHIP. Lowe would like to return to Boston, but also has no preference regarding pitching in the National or American League.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 9/27, 8:18 PM CT
Derek Lowe will get the start for the Dodgers in Game 1 of the playoffs, according to the LA Times.

Our View: The Dodgers will face either the Phillies or the Cubs in the playoffs. It all depends on who wins the wild card. If it is the Mets the Dodgers will face the Phillies and if it is the Brewers, the Cubs will be their foe.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 9/23, 7:49 PM CT
The Dodgers have moved Derek Lowe up in the rotation from Saturday to Friday, according to MLB.com. Hiroki Kuroda will now start on Saturday.

Our View: Lowe will be pitching on regular rest and is now set up to start Game 1 of the NLDS should the Dodgers clinch.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 9/21, 7:52 PM CT
Derek Lowe shutout the Giants for seven innings on Sunday but he left the game with a no-decision as Matt Cain also pitched shutout ball against the Dodgers.

Our View: Lowe has had one of his finest seasons though no one seems to be aware of it. Lowe has 14 victories, a 3.29 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP which he should easily be able to translate into big money this off-season when he becomes a free agent.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 9/16, 9:08 PM CT
Derek Lowe befuddled the Pirates' bats Tuesday, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out three over seven innings in a 6-2 win.

Our View: Lowe has been on fire of late, as he hasn't allowed more than two runs in any of his last seven starts.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 9/11, 12:08 AM CT
Derek Lowe was forced from his start in the sixth inning after taking a ball of his knee, but he was still able to secure his 13th victory thanks to holding the Padres to just four base runners and one run over 5.1 innings.

Our View: Early reports are that there is nothing really wrong with his leg and that he should be OK for his next start. In four seasons in LA, Lowe has won at least 12 games each year with an ERA below 3.90 each time (it's currently 3.48). He should get a nice sized contract from someone this off-season.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 9/6, 12:15 AM CT
Derek Lowe was phenomenal over eight innings against the Diamondbacks on Friday night. The sinker was working as he allowed just two hits and no runs scored.

Our View: Lowe is just 12-11 but his ERA is down to just 3.53. Throughout his career he has pitched better in bigger games, and the remainder of his starts figure to be just that - big games. Lowe is a strong play for the remainder of the season.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 8/31, 11:14 PM CT
Derek Lowe tossed six shutout innings against the Diamondbacks on Sunday night and evened his record at 11-11. He allowed four hits, walked one, and struck out two.

Our View: Outside of one disastrous outing in St. Louis on August 6, Lowe has been pretty darn good since mid-May. Fantasy owners should continue to lean on him.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 8/26, 9:06 PM CT
Derek Lowe pitched a complete game Tuesday, but it wasn't good enough to pick up a win. The righty allowed two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six over eight innings in a 2-1 loss to Washington.

Our View: With a 3.81 ERA and 1.21 WHIP, Lowe has been a lot better than his 10-11 record dictates.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 8/21, 4:54 PM CT
Derek Lowe only allowed one earned run while striking out seven in Thursday's close 3-1 win over the Rockies.

Our View: Lowe is now 10-10 and has only given up one earned run in each of his last two starts.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 8/17, 12:19 AM CT
Derek Lowe held the Brewers to one run over seven innings on Saturday, but he took the no-decision. The right-hander allowed eight hits, walked none, and struck out three. The Dodgers bullpen blew his shot at a win.

Our View: Lowe has rebounded well from his disastrous outing in St. Louis, and fantasy owners should continue to count on him, especially since the Dodgers have been playing well.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 8/12, 12:34 AM CT
Derek Lowe pitched well on Monday night allowing three runs over 6.1 innings against the Phillies.

Our View: Lowe hasn't been a bad pitcher this year, but the results just haven't been there with a 9-10 record. His WHIP is still solid at 1.24 and his ERA of 4.11 is alright though nothing exciting.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 8/6, 10:51 PM CT
Derek Lowe was hammered for for eight runs on 13 hits in 3 1/3 innings Wednesday in a 9-6 loss to the Cardinals.

Our View: This was Lowe's worst start of the year. He pitched really well in June and July.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 7/31, 11:36 PM CT
Dodgers hurler Derek Lowe threw an effective 6.1 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out seven, but he was out-dueled by Arizona's Brandon Webb and took the loss.

Our View: Lowe picked up his ninth loss of the year, but he probably deserved better. He deserves a spot on fantasy rosters even with the unseemly W-L record.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 7/26, 11:32 PM CT
Amid rumors that he could be traded, Los Angeles starter Derek Lowe was dominant, throwing eight innings and giving up just one hit to the lowly Washington Nationals in the Dodgers 6-0 win.

Our View: Lowe is now 8-8 on the season, with a 3.74 ERA. The Nats are a cure for many pitchers, but Lowe has been solid enough to warrant a spot on fantasy rosters.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 7/9, 11:41 PM CT
The Dodgers needed a strong effort off the mound to insure a tight 2-1 win over the Braves this evening, and that's what ace Derek Lowe provided. Lowe pitched 7 2/3 innings, allowing just one run on two hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

Our View: This is the Derek Lowe the Dodger fans have been hoping to see, now sitting at 7-8 on the season with an ERA of 3.85. He had suffered three losses over his last four outings in June but is now 2-0 in July with just one combined walk allowed.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 7/4, 6:36 PM CT
Derek Lowe was tagged foir five runs (four earned) on eight hits over five innings, in Friday's high scoring 10-7 win over the Giants, with no walks and two strikeouts.

Our View: It wasn't a great outing for Lowe, but the Giants provided enough run support for him to improve to 6-8. He snapped a two-game losing streak.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 6/29, 6:22 PM CT
Derek Lowe fell to 5-8 on Sunday, but it was hardly his fault. He held the Angels to five hits and one run over seven innings, but the Dodgers offense failed to cross the plate. Lowe walked two and struck out seven.

Our View: After an awful May, Lowe bounced back with a 2.81 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in June. He only went 3-3 in the month, but the wins will come if he continues pitching this well.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 6/18, 9:09 PM CT
Los Angeles RHP Derek Lowe enjoyed good relief pitching and good offensive support in posting the 6-1 win over the Reds. Lowe pitched 5 1/3 innings to allow one run on three hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

Our View: That brings Lowe to 3-1 for the month of June, touting just five walks versus 18 strikeouts.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 6/13, 10:10 PM CT
Derek Lowe suffered his sixth loss of the season on Friday night as the Dodgers fell 5-0 to the Detroit Tigers. The sinkerballer gave up three runs, two earned, on eight hits in seven innings.

Our View: Lowe is pitching about as good as he can. He didn't walk a batter, struck out five and received very little defensive support in the loss. Two of the eight hits, home runs, didn't help his cause.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 6/13, 11:12 AM CT
Derek Lowe will be aiming to even up his record to 5-5 when the Dodgers battle the Tigers at Comerica Park tonight, according to MLB.com. Lowe is 4-5 this season with a 4.15 ERA and 1.31 WHIP.

Our View: The former member of the Red Sox and Mariners is 7-1 with a 1.82 ERA lifetime against the Tigers. Lowe has only allowed a total of six earned runs over his last four starts, and is pitching better than his record would dictate. He is worth consideration for your lineups tonight.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 6/7, 6:46 PM CT
Derek Lowe held the Cubs to three runs over seven innings to pick up his fourth win of the season. All told, he allowed six hits and two walks while striking out four.

Our View: Lowe rebounded from a rough stretch to record his fourth straight quality start and is one again back to being a solid back of the rotation option in mixed leagues.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesMonday 6/2, 11:49 PM CT
Derek Lowe is on a roll. He held the Rockies to five hits and one run over eight innings on Monday night. Lowe improved to 3-5, and he has served up only three runs over his last three starts (23 innings).

Our View: Lowe had an awful three weeks from late April to mid-May, but he is safe to use in all fantasy leagues again.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 5/28, 10:41 PM CT
Dodgers RHP Derek Lowe put forth an excellent performance on the mound this evening, but the offense missed the boat and failed to produce the runs needed for a win. Lowe pitched seven shutout innings with just four hits and two walks surrendered. He ended with five strikeouts and walked off with no decision.

Our View: The relief pitching blew the cause as well, giving up two runs on three hits in the final two innings of play, leaving Lowe at 2-5 on the season and 0-4 this month.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 5/18, 10:05 PM CT
Derek Lowe had another poor outing on Sunday as he was tagged for seven runs in just five innings to lose to the Angels.

Our View: Lowe has now gone five starts without a victory, he has three loses in that time. Even worse, over those five games his ERA is a whopping 8.55. Find a spot on your bench for him until he straightens things out.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 5/14, 10:34 PM CT
Dodger RHP Derek Lowe walked off the mound with fourth no decision this season as hit team used a late surge to get the 6-4 win. Lowe pitched six innings to allow four runs (all earned) on six hits, walking three and striking out six.

Our View: That's four consecutive starts for Lowe without a win.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 5/10, 12:58 AM CT
Derek Lowe gave up six runs and eight hits in 5.1 innings of work in Friday night's loss to the Astros. The Dodgers' right-hander allowed six runs on eight hits, walked two and struck out five.

Our View: The right-hander has not recorded an out in the sixth inning in any of his last five starts. His 4.43 ERA, 30 strikeouts in 44 innings and his 1.45 WHIP are approaching NL-only status.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 4/24, 2:29 PM CT
Derek Lowe was removed from Wednesday’s start against Arizona for precautionary reasons and is not expected to miss any additional time, according to the AP. He left action in the bottom of the fifth with tightness in his right elbow. Team doctors have examined Lowe and said he should be ready for his next start, which is scheduled for Tuesday night against the Marlins.

Our View: This is good news, as Lowe is 2-1 with a 2.45 ERA and a solid 1.19 WHIP. He is pitching well, and should continue to be a solid starter, albeit one who doesn't produce a lot of strikeouts.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 4/24, 12:45 AM CT
Derek Lowe allowed three hits, one walk and one run in five innings against the D'backs on Wednesday to pick up his second win.

Our View: Lowe has allowed two or fewer earned runs in four games this season and three or less in all five of his starts. Look for more of the same from Lowe moving forward as he has that sinkerball dancing at the moment.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 4/18, 10:05 PM CT
Derek Lowe allowed 12 baserunners, eight hits and four BB, in just 4.1 innings on Friday night as he picked up his first loss of the year. Lower was beaten for five runs, three earned, on the night.

Our View: Lowe periodically has outings like this when the balls don't find the fielders, but even with this outing his ERA still sits at 2.59 through four starts.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSaturday 4/12, 11:53 PM CT
Derek Lowe shut down the Padres for eight innings allowing only four hits, no walks and one earned run while striking out six.

Our View: Lowe's sinker has been diving early in the year as he now owns a 1.80 ERA over 20 innings for the Dodgers. Lowe still doesn't strike out enough batters to join the elite pitchers, but he always seems to post an ERA below 4.00 with about 14 wins, and there is a lot of value in that.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 4/6, 9:57 PM CT
Derek Lowe pitched six innings for Los Angeles, allowing two runs and five hits. He finished with six strikeouts and one walk in the no-decision.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 4/6, 2:29 PM CT

Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 4/1, 11:34 PM CT
Derek Lowe exited Tuesday's game in the seventh inning after being struck in the left foot by a grounder, according to the AP. The righty grimaced in pain but left the field under his own power. He was replaced by Joe Beimel, who promptly walked the first guy he faced to allow the first run of the game. We'll update you on Lowe's status when more is known.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 3/23, 1:33 PM CT
Derek Lowe was strong over six innings of work against the Angels on Saturday as he only allowed one run on four hits, with three strikeouts and one walk. He has been inconsistent so far this spring, and this was a strong effort that will hopefully carry over to his next outing.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 3/6, 8:02 PM CT
Derek Lowe struggled mightily on Thursday as he allowed five runs on six hits and two walks over three innings to the Red Sox. Lowe has averaged 13 wins a season since coming to LA while keeping his ERA below 3.90 each year, so don't be overly concerned about this poor outing.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesFriday 9/14, 12:57 AM CT
Grady Little is confident that Derek Lowe will start Saturday against Arizona, the AP reports. Lowe was supposed to start Wednesday against San Diego, but would up being scratched due to a hand injury. "Derek went out and threw a little bit (Thursday)," Little said. "We're more than optimistic he'll be ready to go Saturday."
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 9/13, 12:07 PM CT

Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesWednesday 9/12, 10:33 PM CT
Dodgers starter Derek Lowe bruised his right hand playing catch before Tuesday night’s game, forcing him to miss his start Wednesday against the Padres, according to the Associated Press. Righthander Chad Billingsley replaced Lowe, and David Wells will be moved up to pitch Thursday night.

Our View: Lowe is expected to be out until at least Saturday, and appears very iffy for a weekend start at this point.
Derek Lowe, P, Atlanta BravesThursday 8/9, 11:54 AM CT
Derek Lowe experienced more trouble with his sore left hip during a bullpen session Wednesday. The Dodgers are saying Lowe is still on schedule to start Saturday, but pitching coach Rick Honeycutt said the right-hander probably will be on a short leash, according to the LA Times. "He finished up better," Honeycutt said. "I'm not sure it's soreness. When he gets his normal delivery, his normal stride, he's OK. I think it's apprehension more than anything else."

The Dodgers have opted to bump Derek Lowe from this scheduled Thursday start to give his stiff left hip a little extra time to heal up, according to the AP. So long as the added rest helps, Lowe will take the mound to start Saturday's game. Brett Tomko will get the nod on Thursday.

Derek Lowe threw a 65-pitch bullpen session Wednesday and said he experienced no pain. Derek Lowe got good news when an MRI revealed no problems with his strained left groin and only a slight irritation in his left hip. Lowe was able to throw on flat ground Friday and should throw off a mound Saturday, according to the LA Times. Whether he will be cleared to make his next start will depend a lot on how he gets through his mound session, but so far all signs are positive.

It looks like Derek Lowe owners can breathe a sigh of relief. Strength tests on the pitcher's groin suggested the strain was mild, and Lowe said he wasn't feeling any pain. It doesn't look like he'll have to miss a start because of the ailment, according to the LA Times. "We can't see it being serious," said Lowe. Results of an MRI will be known today. "I don't think it's going to be too bad," manager Grady Little said.

Derek Lowe left his start Wednesday in the fifth inning due to a groin injury, the AP reports. He'll have an MRI Thursday. Lowe said he first noticed the problem two or three days ago while warming up in the bullpen, but thought he'd be OK to start on Wednesday. Instead it got worse as he played. "I've never been through anything like this before," he said. "It's just like a sharp pain, and then it goes away. Nothing I do, activity-wise, hurts it except throwing."

Derek Lowe already looks to be in regular season form. He allowed just one runs on five hits while striking out two over five innings Tuesday. Lowe, who has already been named the opening day starter, has a 2.70 ERA this spring, striking out seven batters against no walks. "As crazy as it sounds, I try to pitch as if I have to make the team every year," Lowe told the AP. "That way you don't feel lazy and lax. That's my mentality."

Derek Lowe could get two starts next week if the Dodgers still are playing meaningful games on the weekend, according to the team's official site. He'll start Wednesday in Colorado, then be available Sunday at San Francisco, if needed. Entering today's play the Dodgers are 1.5 games back in the NL West, and a half game out in the wild-card standings. Lowe's turn Wednesday is going to be on three days of rest.

There's a slight chance that Derek Lowe could be brought back on three days' rest to pitch on Sunday, according to the Dodgers official site. Grady Little is calling this option a "long shot" because he does not want to burn out the league's pitcher of the month of August. Lowe threw eight sharp innings in Wednesday night's win in Milwaukee, throwing just 79 pitches. Eric Stults and Aaron Sele are also being considered for Sunday's start.
