Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSaturday 9/26, 2:14 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki went 0-for-3 through five innings on Saturday before being ejected for arguing balls and strikes.

Our View: The ejection was Ichiro's first of his MLB career. Expect him to be back in Seattle's lineup on Sunday.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/23, 9:54 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki went 2-for-4 with two singles and an RBI in tonight' 5-4 loss at Tampa Bay. He also swiped a base.

Our View: Ichiro recorded a hit in 10 of his last 11 games, with five multi-hit performances over the span. He raised his season batting average to .355.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 9/17, 9:57 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki ended a marathon on Thursday. The all-world right fielder singled in the game-winning run in the 14th inning, as the Mariners beat the White Sox 4-3 at home.

Our View: Ichiro went 2-for-6 in the game, dropping his AL-second best average to .353. If he continues hitting at his current clip, it would be the fourth time in his illustrious nine-year career he finished with an average above .350, a rare feat.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSunday 9/13, 11:09 PM CT
With a second inning infield single in game two of a day/night doubleheader, Ichiro Suzuki became the first player in Major League history to have at least 200 hits in nine consecutive seasons. Ichiro finished the game 1-for-5 with an RBI as the Mariners blanked the Rangers 5-0.

Our View: Ichiro is a marvel. The guy is just consistency embodied. He received a standing ovation for his career effort and broke the streak of eight consecutive seasons with 200 hits set by Willie Keeler. Fitting that the record setting hit was an infield single.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSunday 9/13, 12:05 AM CT
Ichiro Suzuki picked up his 196th and 197th hits on Saturday night, including his ninth home run, as the Mariners easily dispatched the Rangers 8-3 on the road.

Our View: Ichiro is now just two hits shy of his ninth straight 200-hit season.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSunday 9/6, 5:02 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki recorded his 2,000th major league hit on Sunday against the A's.

Our View: He reached the mark in just 1,402 games, second to only Al Simmons' 1,390 as the fastest in baseball history to reach the mark. Including the 1,278 hits he accumulated in Japan, he now has 3,278 professional hits at the age of 35.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersTuesday 9/1, 6:32 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki is penciled into tonight's lineup against the Angels, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Ichiro was given the green light to return following his bout with a strained left calf. The star outfielder should be fine to return to fantasy lineups.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersMonday 8/31, 11:09 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki is expected to return to the Mariners' lineup Tuesday against the Angels, according to the Associated Press. He has been recovering from a strained left calf.

Our View: Ichiro missed eight straight games with the injury, but the elite hitter should be fine to pencil back into lineups if he returns Tuesday.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSaturday 8/29, 12:03 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki's return to the Mariners' lineup is uncertain while recovering from a strained left calf, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View: The club was hopeful he would return at some point this weekend, but that no longer seems likely. Ichiro still experiences pain while running, and skipper Don Wakamatsu did not speculate when he may be deemed fit to play.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 8/27, 8:46 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki could remain out of the Mariners' lineup until the weekend, according to the Seattle Times. He is recovering from a strained left calf.

Our View: Ichiro is progressing as he took batting practice Thursday, and Seattle is taking things slow with the elite outfielder.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 8/26, 8:41 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki has been advised to rest and take it easy while recovering from a strained left calf, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Ichiro stretched on the field with the Mariners Wednesday before batting practice, then headed inside for treatment. He could return to the lineup later in the week, and skipper Don Wakamatsu does not believe his injury is severe enough to send him to the DL.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersTuesday 8/25, 8:20 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki will be out of action longer than anticipated, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: The Mariners were hoping he would be ready to return from his sore calf Wednesday, but now it appears that he won't be fit to return until late in the week. Skipper Don Wakamatsu noted that Ichiro is improving though.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersMonday 8/24, 5:59 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki is considered day-to-day while dealing with a strained left calf, according to Ryan Divish's (Tacoma News Tribune) twitter page.

Our View: Ichiro will not play in tonight's game against Oakland, but skipper Don Wakamatsu is optimistic that he could return to action Wednesday.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 8/19, 9:39 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki enjoyed a strong performance at the plate in tonight's 3-1 win at Detroit, as he went 2-for-4 with a single and a two-run homer off Justin Verlander.

Our View: Suzuki hit his second homer of August, and his eighth of 2009. He also extended his hitting streak to 10 games, and raised his batting average to .366.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSunday 7/26, 6:41 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki had his ninth multiple hit game of the month on Sunday, but his two hits didn't have much impact, as the Mariners lost 12-3 to the Indians.

Our View: The incomparable Ichiro finds himself batting .359, and is cruising toward his ninth straight 200-hit season.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSaturday 7/25, 8:09 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Saturday's 10-3 loss to the Indians.

Our View: Ichiro is still chasing Joe Mauer for the AL batting title, but it has become a close race. The Japanese superstar has hit over .300 every month this season, highlighted by a .407 month of June.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 7/15, 1:54 PM CT
ESPN.com reports that while in St. Louis for the 80th All Star Game, Ichiro Suzuki visited the grave of former all-time single-season hits leader George Sisler to pay his respects.

Our View: This is just a classy move by the Japanese import. Ichiro, who broke Sisler's mark of 257 hits in 2004, paid his respects to one of the all-time greats by placing flowers on Sisler's grave. This doesn't quite have the hype of the Maris Family-McGwire exchange, but a genuine and heartwarming display none the less.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersMonday 7/13, 10:29 AM CT
Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe is reporting on her Twitter page that AL manager Joe Maddon has released his lineup for Tuesday night's game. It will be Ichiro Suzuki in right field, Derek Jeter at shortstop, Joe Mauer catching, Mark Teixeira at first base, Jason Bay in left field, Josh Hamilton in center field, Evan Longoria at third base, Aaron Hill at second base, and Roy Halladay pitching.

Our View: No big surprises here, although it seems like Longoria is a little low. It will be interesting to see how long Josh Hamilton plays since he is coming off injury, but it is nice to see him in the lineup.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSunday 7/12, 8:41 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki went 2-for-5 with an RBI in the Mariners' 5-3 win on Sunday.

Our View: The ageless import is hitting .362 this season. He already has 128 hits in 80 games, unfortunately only 27 of them are for extra bases.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 7/2, 10:00 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki had a big night on Thursday as the Mariners beat the Yankees 8-4, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs and a stolen base.

Our View: Ichiro is doing exactly what you would expect of him in 2009, leading the American League in hitting and doing everything he can to keep the Mariners in contention. Even at age 35, he remains a premier fantasy outfielder.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 6/25, 6:54 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki went 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 9-3 win over the Padres at Safeco Field. He hit a double, homer and two singles.

Our View: Ichiro raised his MLB-leading batting average to .369 and is riding an eight-game hitting streak. He hit his first homer of June as well.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSaturday 6/6, 6:37 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki knocked three hits on Saturday as the Mariners beat the Twins 2-1. Ichiro went 3-for-4 with a double, a run, and an RBI in the game.

Our View: Ichiro is still a hitting machine, but that should come as no surprise to anyone. His run total leaves a bit to be desired, but there's nothing he can do about that. He is hitting .354 on the year, so he remains a solid fantasy outfielder.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 6/4, 12:06 AM CT
Ichiro Suzuki got a hit for the 27th straight game on Wednesday as the Mariners beat the Orioles 3-2. It was his only hit in three at bats but he also drew a walk, laid down a sac bunt and scored a run.

Our View: Ichiro has reached base 58 times during the streak, but he has only scored 13 times. How is that possible?
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 6/3, 12:37 AM CT
Ichiro Suzuki extended his hitting streak to 26 games as he went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles in Tuesday's 8-2 win over Baltimore at Safeco Field.

Our View: Ichiro has 46 total hits over his streak. He continues to rank near the top of the AL with his .353 batting average.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersMonday 6/1, 11:44 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki extended his hitting streak to 25 games with a double in Monday's 1-0 loss to the Orioles at Safeco Field.

Our View: He has 44 total hits over the streak, but only scored 10 runs and collected seven RBI due to a poor supporting cast in Seattle.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersMonday 6/1, 12:51 PM CT
Ichiro will be attempting to tie his Seattle franchise record 24-game hitting streak when the Mariners play the Orioles on Monday, according to The Sports Network.

Our View: As usual, Ichiro remains an elite fantasy option and among the American League's best players.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/31, 8:57 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki went 4-for-5 with a home run and two doubles against the Angels on Sunday.

Our View: Ichiro has upped his average from .310 to .354 over Seattle's past eight games and, as he often is, appears poised to challenge for the AL batting title this season.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersMonday 5/25, 6:12 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki was 4-for-4 in Monday's 6-2 loss to Oakland, but the next seven hitters in the order managed just two hits. He did get a stolen base but failed to score even once.

Our View: Ichiro is riding a 19-game hitting streak and has a hit in all but one game going back to April 28. ON the season, he has failed to register a hit in only four of 38 games. Although he is hitting .335, he only has 16 runs scored. The 35-year-old is still incredibly productive, but the rest of his offense continues to limit his fantasy value.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 5/7, 4:30 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki had three hits on Thursday in the Mariners' 3-1 loss to the Royals. He had a double and stole a base, and he is now hitting .316 on the year.

Our View: Ichiro continues to hit, but he did ground out with the bases loaded to end the game today. The average will always be there with Ichiro, and he should still steal his share of bases. Although he is not quite the fantasy player he once was, he is still a valuable commodity.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSaturday 5/2, 11:53 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki went 2-for-5 in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Athletics at Safeco Field. Both of his hits were singles.

Our View: He raised his season average to .306. He is riding a four-game hitting streak, and has scored three runs and stole one base over the span.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 4/23, 9:15 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki homered in the first inning off James Shields for the only run of the game. The pitchers did the rest and the Mariners' made the lone run stick with a 1-0 win. Ichiro was 2-for-4 on the day with a stolen base.

Our View: Ichiro now has two home runs in just eight games this season, but it's the steals that fantasy owners are concerned with. He has two so far and will clearly add to that total, but don't expect the big numbers from his hey day.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 4/16, 12:56 AM CT
In his first game since coming off the DL, Ichiro Suzuki went off. He was 2-for-5 with a grand slam in the Mariners 11-3 trouncing of the Angels on Wednesday. He also tied the record for most hits by a Japanese player.

Our View: Fantasy owners have to be floating now that they can put Ichiro back in their lineups. He appears to be healthy as a horse now as well, so let's just put the whole DL thing behind us. He opened his season in grand fashion Wednesday.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 4/15, 7:21 PM CT
According to the Seattle Times, the Mariners activated All Star outfielder Ichiro Suzuki on Wednesday.

Our View: This is what everyone expected, so it's good that Ichiro didn't suffer any last minute setbacks. He is now safe to plug into fantasy lineups, assuming you drafted him regardless of his preseason injury.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersMonday 4/13, 2:29 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki expects to return to the diamond Wednesday against the Angels following his recovery from a bleeding ulcer, according to ESPN.

Our View: He would be back April 15, as expected. Ichiro should be fine for fantasy duty upon his return.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 4/9, 1:57 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki, who is recovering from a bleeding ulcer and fatigue, hit a single in his first at-bat in an extended spring training game today, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View: Mariners' skipper Don Wakamatsu noted that Ichiro will play three games before being re-evaluated. He may be ready to return on April 15.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 4/8, 6:45 PM CT
The Seattle Times reports that Ichiro Suzuki's blood tests revealed that his bleeding ulcer is improving. The Mariners plan on using him at DH tomorrow in an extended spring training game. He will be re-evaluated after the game, and the team still thinks he will return on April 15.

Our View: This is good news for Ichiro. He should only miss around 10 games before making another run at a 200-hit season. The team plans to use him as the No. 3 hitter this season.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersMonday 4/6, 8:19 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki will undergo a blood test on Wednesday in order to determine if the medication for his bleeding ulcer is working properly, according to MLB.com. He is still expected to return to action on April 15.

Our View: Ichiro has reported positive progress since landing on the DL a few days ago. This is the first time in his career that he has landed on the DL, and we expect him to have another strong season, despite the less than desirable start.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSunday 4/5, 12:51 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki is apparently recovering very well from the severe fatigue he had been suffering due to a bleeding ulcer and is expected to return to Seattle's lineup once he's eligible to come off the DL on April 15, according to MLB.com.

Our View: "He's increasing his workload down there [in Arizona]," manager Don Wakamatsu said of Ichiro, "and if everything goes as planned and he keeps progressing, he'll probably meet us in Oakland." Apparently, the plan is to have Ichiro meet up with the Mariners during their series in Oakland from April 10-12, and while he won't be eligible to play until April 15, that's still a very good sign. It looks like Ichiro owners shouldn't be too frustrated about his placement on the DL, as they will only need to find a replacement for his first eight games, with no lingering effects expected to be suffered by the veteran outfielder.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersFriday 4/3, 12:34 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki will be placed on the 15-day DL due to a bleeding ulcer, according to MLB.com. He was examined by doctors as he was suffering from severe fatigue.

Our View: The move is retroactive to March 31, and he will miss the first eight games of the season. He is eligible to return April 15.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 4/2, 2:25 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki is getting examined by team doctors to determine the cause of fatigue that has kept him on the shelf for the last three days, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View: Ichiro is still expected to accompany the Mariners to Las Vegas on Friday for a pair of games against the Rockies. We will keep you posted on his status.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersTuesday 3/31, 1:33 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki was given the day off Tuesday after feeling light-headed on Monday, according to MLB.com. Skipper Don Wakamatsu said, "I think it has something to do with all the travel during the World Baseball Classic. We are going to give him today off and then re-evaluate on whether or not to put him in the lineup tomorrow."

Our View: Ichiro should be fine with just a bit of rest, and is expected to be ready to go for opening day.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersMonday 3/30, 7:52 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki was 1-for-2 while hitting No. 3 in the Mariners order on Monday as they lost 9-7 to the Brewers. He is 5-for-12 with five singles since returning from the WBC.

Our View: The Mariners acquired more speed in the offseason, and it appears they may put Ichiro in the three-hole this season. It should be interesting to see how the long-time leadoff man adapts. He is as professional as any hitter in baseball, and the Mariners seem to think he has a lot more power than his 21 home runs over the past three seasons suggest.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersFriday 3/20, 12:07 AM CT
Ichiro Suzuki was 1-for-5 with a run scored in Japan's 6-2 win over Korea on Thursday.

Our View: This performance actually improved his batting average to .158 in the WBC. Regardless, we feel Ichiro is as good a bet as there is for a player to hit .300 this season.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSaturday 3/7, 7:54 AM CT
Ichiro Suzuki was 3-for-5 with three runs scored as Japan defeated South Korea 14-2 on Friday.

Our View: Ichiro was a mere 3-for-23 in the exhibitions leading up to this event, so it was nice to see him make such consistent contact. He has been as consistent as any major leaguer since coming into the league. Expect to make another run at his solid production from last season.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 3/5, 10:43 AM CT
Ichiro Suzuki looked lost at the plate in the WBC's opener against China. The Mariner's outfielder was 0-for-5 and stranded three runners. He did have a nice play in the field though.

Our View: This performance is not indicative of Ichiro's season. He's still a lock to hit over .300, steal 30 bases and contribute in other categories as well. A solid number two fantasy outfielder.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersMonday 2/16, 6:05 PM CT
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer suggests that there is truth to the rumors that Ichiro Suzuki is at the center of the Mariners' chemistry issues. J.J. Putz recently claimed that there was "so much more (Ichiro) could do." Former Mariners manager Jim Riggleman also said that he approached Ichiro and asked him to change his approach after the all-star break. Adrian Beltre says that there were some players who were not playing the game the right way last season, but he would not go as far as to name Ichiro. And finally, new manager Don Wakamatsu suggested that the team's hierarchy needs to be changed to one of equality.

Our View: Good golly. Really? You want Ichiro to do more? He has accumulated 1805 hits over eight seasons (which is unheard of), while scoring over 100 runs and stealing at least 30 bases in each of those campaigns. Suzuki never takes a day off, has a canon for an arm, and has a career .807 OPS (amazing for a leadoff hitter). If he played for one of the Top 10 teams in the league, he would be a perennial MVP candidate. What makes this even more baffling is that the finger-pointing is coming from members of a Seattle team that won 61 games last year and finished last in the American League.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 2/11, 8:25 AM CT
There has been some talks that Seattle outfielder Ichiro Suzuki might pitch for Japan in the World Baseball Classic, but it's an idea the Mariners are not on board with, according to MLB.com. "I don't think it's a good idea. I just don't think it is a very good idea after the career he has built. It wouldn't be worth hurting his elbow," said new Seattle manager Don Wakamatsu.

Our View: Reports were that Ichiro threw a bullpen session in Japan's workout over the weekend that was nearly 60 pitches, including a number of curveballs. Ichiro has always had a dynamite arm, and he can reportedly still hum it in there at more than 90 mph, but he has a contract that lasts four more seasons, and the chances of him injuring himself would be too costly for the Mariners, not to mention fantasy owners.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersTuesday 11/18, 8:10 PM CT
The Mariners have reportedly decided on Oakland Athletics bench coach Don Wakamatsu as their new manager, according to the Sporting News.

Our View: Wakamatsu doesn't have any previous experience as a manager at the major league level.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersFriday 10/24, 7:08 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki's name has been floated out there as a potential option to manage Japan's team at the upcoming World Baseball Classic, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View: Ichiro has already commented that the team needs to decide on a manager so that the team can begin to prepare for the tournament which begins in the first week of March, so why not just have him take over the role? We will have to wait and see if he becomes the countries player/manager, but it is an interesting thought.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersMonday 10/20, 10:14 AM CT
Ichiro Suzuki intends to play in the World Baseball Classic for Japan during spring training, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View: Teammate Kenji Johjima is likely going to to want to join Suzuki and represent Japan in the WBC as well. Suzuki reached at least 200 hits for the eight straight season in 2008, and is now only 195 hits away from 2,000.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 9/25, 12:33 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki may have worn out his welcome in Seattle, according to a report in the Seattle Times. "I just can't believe the number of guys who really dislike him," said one clubhouse insider. "It got to a point early on when I thought they were going to get together and go after him."

Our View: Apparently teammates believe that Ichiro is a selfish player who is out for himself, but he certainly gets "his" year after year producing huge numbers. However, no one has ever said the man doesn't work extremely hard, and he always shows up, so this might be the old sour grapes more than anything else from a team that has gone down in flames this season.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 9/25, 11:14 AM CT
Ichiro Suzuki will not sit out any of the team's final games this season, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View: Both he and Raul Ibanez will play in each of the team's remaining games, basically in an effort to pad their stats, which is just fine with fantasy owners.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 9/25, 9:02 AM CT
Ichiro Suzuki went 0-for-5 on Wednesday, ending his hitting streak at 16 games.

Our View: Despite the streak, Ichiro is hitting just .292 this month. He has hit over .300 every month this season except April.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSunday 9/21, 9:02 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki had a single in the seventh inning on Sunday to boost his hitting streak to 14-games.

Our View: Two hundred and five hits and counting for Ichiro who still needs to cross home plate four times to record a eighth straight campaign of 200 hits, 100 runs and 30 steals (he has 43 SB). No man who has ever played the game has done that more than four seasons (Wee Willie Keeler).
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/17, 10:19 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki finished the night with 200 hits - for the season. He was 3-for-3 in Seattle's 5-2 loss to the Royals. He also stole his 43rd base of the season.

Our View: That makes eight straight seasons of at least 200 hits for Ichiro for those of you who lost count. He has now tied Willie Keeler's (yes, that Willie Keeler) major league record. Among other pitchers, Ichiro absolutely owns Gil Meche who is now 10-for-15 in his career against.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersTuesday 9/16, 11:34 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki went 1-for-4 on Tuesday night. His infield single was his 197th hit of the season.

Our View: Despite a slow start to the year, Ichiro has rebounded to his norm and appears on track to reach 200 hits for the eighth consecutive season.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSaturday 9/13, 11:24 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki went 2-for-5 with a run scored in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Angels. He hit a single and a triple, his seventh of the season.

Our View: Ichiro has scored 95 runs, and is closing in on his eighth straight campaign with at least 100. He also extended his hitting streak to six games tonight, with two multi-hit efforts over the span.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/10, 7:09 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki had four hits on Wednesday as he also scored three runs and stole his 41st base of the year for the Mariners.

Our View: Ichiro had gotten off to a poor start in September hitting .226 in 31 AB, but he is now hitting .306 through eight games. Ichiro continues to produce steals, and with 10 more hits he will have his 8th straight 200-hit season.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 9/10, 12:14 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki has a career batting average of .407 off of his opponent tonight, Rangers pitcher Kevin Millwood. Suzuki is 22-for-54 with seven RBI for his career against the right-hander.

Our View: The fact that Suzuki has a career .400 batting average against somebody should not be a shock. And it may help jump-start his September, as he is hitting just .226 for the month, not what fantasy owners want to see.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersFriday 8/22, 12:11 AM CT
Ichiro Suzuki went 3-for-4 but didn't manage an RBI or run scored, as Seattle went on to get shutout by Oakland 2-0 on Thursday night.

Our View: Ichiro now has a 6-game hitting streak, while tallying multiple hits in five of the six games.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSaturday 8/16, 6:22 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's loss to the Twins. He is hitting .331 since July 1.

Our View: Ichiro hasn't performed up to his lofty standards this season, but he has been peppering the ball a little better over the last six weeks.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSunday 8/10, 6:14 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki now has a 16 game hitting streak with his 2-for-5 performance in Seattle's loss to Tampa Bay. He also stole his 36th base of the season in the contest.

Our View: Suzuki is the only decent thing going for the Mariners. He isn't having quite the year fantasy owners were expecting, but he has been good enough to be an asset, especially with his stolen base total.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSunday 8/10, 1:52 AM CT
As is often the case, outfielder Ichiro Suzuki represented the efforts of the Seattle offense this evening, taking the Tampa Bay Rays to 11 innings before falling 8-7. Ichiro went 4-for-6 on the night with his fifth homer of the season, good for three RBIs and one run scored.

Our View: Ichiro is the face of consistency, and while his numbers have slipped a bit this season, he is more than capable of producing such valuable rewards, both for fantasy owners and the Mariners.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 8/7, 10:15 AM CT
Ichiro Suzuki stretched his hitting streak to 12 games with a single against the Twins Wednesday, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. He is batting .401 over the streak, with seven multi-hit efforts.

Our View: Ichiro is on track following a disappointing first half of the season, and is back to being a must-start as a fantasy outfielder.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 7/30, 10:30 PM CT
Seattle suffered through the tough 4-3 loss to Texas despite the efforts of outfielder Ichiro Suzuki, going 3-for-4 for the night with one walk.

Our View: Only three players earned RBIs for the Mariners this evening, a trend that has troubled both Seattle and Ichiro this month. Suzuki carries just five RBIs through July after posting just six last month.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersTuesday 7/29, 7:57 PM CT
Mariners right fielder Ichiro Suzuki needed just one pitch in his first at-bat Tuesday night to get his 3,000th career professional hit, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He slapped a single into shallow left-center field off Rangers RHP Luis Mendoza. The hit was the 1,722nd in Ichiro's Major League career, which started in 2001. He accumulated 1,278 hits during a nine-year stint with the Orix Blue Wave.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersFriday 7/25, 10:17 PM CT
After suffering through an 0-for-5 on Friday, Ichiro Suzuki is now 2-for-21 in his last five games, and his average has dipped below the .300 mark.

Our View: Ichiro's average has been below .300 for most of the season anyway, but he still provides stolen bases and it would not be a surprise if he was hitting well over .300 at season's end.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 7/23, 12:01 AM CT
Seattle outfielder Ichiro Suzuki continues to lead despite his Mariners' 4-2 loss to the Boston Red Sox this evening. Ichiro went 1-for-2 at the plate with two walks and his 12th double of the season to total one RBI and one run scored on the night.

Our View: Ichiro has turned it up this month, hitting .338 through July, though he touts just three RBIs and one stolen base.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 7/17, 5:22 PM CT
Jim Moore of The Seattle Post-Intelligencer called for the trade of Ichiro Suzuki in Friday's column.

Our View: Ichiro signed a five year $100 million contract last summer and would fetch a load of prospects in return. It is not completely impossible to envision such a deal happening.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSunday 7/13, 9:26 AM CT
Ichiro Suzuki declined an invitation to participate in the Home Run Derby due to his sore hamstring, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View: It would have been interesting to see what he could do in that event, as Ichiro has all of three home runs on the season. He is not quite the fantasy stalwart this year that he had been, but you can't go wrong with 34 stolen bases. Although fantasy owners wouldn't mind seeing some of this power he must have bottled up somewhere.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersFriday 7/11, 11:24 AM CT
Ichiro Suzuki was scratched from Thursday's lineup but is expected back Friday, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. He was dealing with a tight hamstring, but is believed to be fine.

Our View: Suzuki is seemingly safe to keep in your lineup for Friday. The hamstring ailment could explain why he only registered one stolen base over his last six games.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersFriday 7/4, 11:46 AM CT
Ichiro Suzuki set a career record on Thursday, going 80 consecutive plate appearances without getting an extra-base hit, and hitting his 24th consecutive single, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View: Suzuki's slugging percentage is a poor .379, but one advantage for fantasy players is that all those singles mean more stolen base attempts. He has 33 stolen bases on the year and has been caught only twice.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 7/3, 7:45 AM CT
Ichiro Suzuki went 3-for-3 on Wednesday raising his average over .300 for the first time since April 9.

Our View: Don't expect his average to get much lower. Ichiro has been the league's most consistent hitter for multiple years and should continue to get his despite the struggles of his team.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSunday 6/29, 6:24 PM CT
Hey, that's the guy we remember! Ichiro Suzuki went 5-for-5 with all singles and a pair of runs in Sunday's win over the Padres and Jake Peavy.

Our View: Ichiro didn't even have a four-hit game to his name this season, which only seems remarkable because it's him. Like the Mariners as a whole, Ichiro is having a very disappointing year, but we continue to hold out hope that this stud can crank it up in the second half.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersMonday 6/16, 8:58 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki will be returned to his former home, right field, according to the Associated Press. “I’ve been thinking about it for over a month. It’s nothing against Ichiro in center field, of course. I just think he’s a great right fielder and I want to see his zest and smile and everything going,” manager John McLaren said

Our View: The Mariners will audition Willie Bloomquist, Jeremy Reed and Wladimir Balentin in center field. None of these options is appealing from a fantasy perspective though Bloomqvist could add a nice set of legs to a team in need of the stolen base if he is given a real shot at the position.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersMonday 6/16, 5:33 PM CT
The Mariners fired their GM, Bill Bavasi, on Monday while promoting assistant GM Lee Pelekoudas on an interim basis, according to MLB.com. "Change is in order," club chief executive officer Howard Lincoln said. "We have determined new leadership is needed in the GM position. With a new leader will come a new plan and a new approach. A search will begin immediately for a permanent GM, and Lee will be a candidate for the position."

Our View: The Mariners are languishing at 24-45 thanks in part to a roster full of bloated contracts tied to ineffective players. A complete overhaul might be in order, so the new GM will certain have his hands full.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSunday 6/15, 8:27 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki went 2-for-5 with an RBI in Sunday's 6-2 loss to Washington.

Our View: He raised his batting average a few points to .295, and is hitting .340 (18-for-53) in June.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 6/11, 8:18 PM CT
Seattle outfielder Ichiro Suzuki joined the list of players using this week to reach career milestones, according to MLB.com.

Our View: This afternoon against Toronto Ichiro swiped the 300th base of his major league career. He has already registered 28 stolen bases this season, leaving us to wonder what the future holds for such a powerful runner.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSunday 6/8, 5:33 PM CT
Seattle outfielder Ichiro Suzuki went 0-for-4 today as his Mariners managed just three total hits in a loss to Boston, 2-1.

Our View: This is the first time this month Ichiro has failed to get a hit and his first game in his last eight to miss getting on base. He came into today hitting .333 for the month of June, though he touts just one extra-base hit and one walk versus five strikeouts.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSaturday 6/7, 8:01 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki had a nice day on Saturday with three hits at the plate and his 26th SB of the season on the bases.

Our View: Ichiro is underperforming with a .295 average, but those 26 SB put him well on pace to steal 50+ bases for the first time since his rookie season of 2001 when he swiped 56 bags.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersTuesday 6/3, 10:33 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki's .288 batting average is disappointing by his standards, but the outfielder has not disappointed in the steals department, as he has been successful on 24 of 26 attempts this season. That puts him on pace for 67 thefts on the year, which would be 13 more than his career high and 30 more than he managed last season.

Our View: Ichiro's stolen base production will probably tail off a bit, but his batting average is sure to rise.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 5/28, 12:30 AM CT
Seattle enjoyed a well-rounded offensive effort with six of their nine starters getting hits as the Mariners dispatched the Boston Red Sox, 4-3. The top man, as usual, was leadoff hitter Ichiro Suzuki , going 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored, and his 22nd stolen base of the season.

Our View: Ichiro is now 35-for-101 on the month with 16 stolen bases and 17 runs scored.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/25, 3:35 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki went 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's close 6-5 loss to the Yankees. One of his hits was good for his third home run of the season.

Our View: That was his eighth multi-hit game in May. He scored 14 runs in the month as well.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersTuesday 5/20, 9:52 PM CT
Seattle's Ichiro Suzuki, who had stolen at least one base in his last 16 games, added another on Tuesday night. The theft was his major league-leading 21st.

Our View: Ichiro added three hits in the game raising his average to .289 on the season.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersTuesday 5/20, 1:16 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki has stolen at least one base in 11 of his last 16 games, according to MLB.com. He has 20 stolen bases for the season, and has only been caught once.

Our View: He has 14 of his 20 stolen bases over 17 games in May, with four coming over his last three games. He is on pace for 72 steals.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/18, 10:56 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki stole two bases on Sunday to become the Mariners all-time leader in swipes. He also had a hit and scored a run.

Our View: Ichiro is hitting a very un-Ichiro .280 through 45 games, but given the fact that he has stolen 20 bases already it really doesn't matter for the moment. Ichiro hasn't stolen 50 bases since his rookie season of 2001, but he is easily on pace to surpass that mark this year.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 5/15, 8:39 PM CT
There seems to be some concern with Ichiro Suzuki's current form. The veteran went hitless for the second straight game on Wednesday, taking a 0-for-6 bagel.

Our View: Note, however, that he lost 16 points of average in the last two games -- which tells us that May averages are still volatile. His peripherals are not any different than a year ago, and the Mariners outfielder started slow in '07 as well.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/11, 12:37 AM CT
Seattle CF Ichiro Suzuki continues to ravage the base paths, tonight going 1-for-4 at the plate with this sixth double of the season, also adding his 15th stolen base.

Our View: Suzuki has stolen nine of his total 15 base in the month of May, going 14-for-38 along the way.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersSaturday 5/3, 1:34 PM CT
Seattle OF Ichiro Suzuki is starting to rediscover the power of his legs, according to the Sports Xchange.

Our View: Ichiro stole both second and third base in the 6th inning against the Yankees on Friday, helping produce the lone run Seattle managed to manufacture in a 5-1 loss. Ichiro also swiped a bag (third to be specific) on Thursday night in the 9th inning against the Cleveland Indians. This brings Ichiro to 10 stolen bases on 11 attempts this season.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 5/1, 10:46 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki had three hits in five trips to the plate on Thursday night.

Our View: No one was happier to see the calendar flip to May that Ichiro who owns the highest batting average in the month of any active player (.371). You can only keep a good man down for so long, so it wouldn't be a shock to see him rip off one of his patented hot streaks really soon.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersFriday 4/25, 12:30 AM CT
Ichiro Suzuki had a hit, two walks, two runs and two RBI on Thursday night. He also stole a base, but he was also caught stealing for the first time.

Our View: Ichiro will hit, everyone knows that, so just look at this as the possible spring board to a rather lengthy period of him slapping the ball all over the yard.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 4/23, 11:53 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki continues to limp along as he went 1-for-4 to lower his average to .258 on the year.

Our View: April is the only month of the season in which Ichiro hasn't hit .300 in his career (.296), so look for him to start heating up soon as 835 career AB in May have produced a .370 average, the best of any month in his storied career.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersTuesday 4/15, 12:31 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki currently holds a 25-game hitting streak against the Royals, according to MLB.com. He will look to keep it going tonight, as Seattle hosts Kansas City.

Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersTuesday 4/15, 12:21 AM CT
Ichiro Suzuki went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Monday night, but he didn't get much help from his teammates, as the Mariners lost 5-1 to the Royals.

Our View: Ichiro has been relatively quiet thus far, but we're not at all concerned.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 4/10, 2:42 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki had a tough day at the plate against Tampa Bay on Thursday, as he went 0-for-3, with one strikeout. He did register one walk, but his season average dipped to .279. He should bounce back fine.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersMonday 3/24, 7:33 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki had two hits on Monday to raise his average to .333 in his last nine games after he started the spring going 0-for-21. You're fooling yourself if you thought that long hitless stretch was the beginning of the end for Ichiro as he will continue to hit, and run, once again this season. Draft him and expect a .300 average, 100 runs, 200 hits and 30 SBs. He does it every year.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 3/20, 8:58 AM CT
Ichiro Suzuki went 1-for-4 against Arizona on Wednesday, and his average now sits at an anemic .119 (5-for-42). Hopefully he can end spring training on a high note.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 3/13, 6:23 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki finally recorded a hit this spring as he went 1-for-4 on Thursday. He entered the game with a 0-for-21 skid.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 3/12, 1:09 PM CT
Ichiro Suzuki is still 0-for-spring, running his hitless streak to 0-for-21 on Tuesday. The M's leadoff hitter typically has a terrific spring, so the unusually slow start is raising some red flags. Ichiro has hit nearly .400 in his five previous spring sessions.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersFriday 3/7, 10:19 PM CT
Cubs rookie outfielder Kosuke Fukudome was 1-for-3 with a double and scored a run for the Cubs in a 6-4 win Friday over Ichiro's Seattle Mariners. Ichiro Suzuki would love to see a line of 1-for-3 at this point in the exhibition schedule, as the two time batting champ is 0-for-10 so far this spring. It's only spring, but those using a late first or second round pick on Ichiro, and others spending $30-$40 dollars for his services, would like to see him break out of his current funk.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersThursday 3/6, 3:37 PM CT
After six Cactus Leagues games, the Mariners are hitting .341 as a team, according to MLB.com. Outfielder Mike Morse is hitting .636; shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt a healthy .455, and catcher Kenji Johjima is a steady .444. Noteworthy is Ichiro Suzuki's slow start. He has yet to get a hit. Sooner or later the years are going to catch up with Ichiro. We are not saying it is this year, but the 34-year-old is due to start a statistical descent.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersMonday 2/25, 7:51 PM CT
The Mariners would like to see their best player, Ichiro Suzuki, run more often in 2008, according to MLB.com. "As much as he gets on base, and as fast as he is, there's no telling how many bases he could steal in a season," GM John McLaren said. "But we don't want him running just to run. There has to be a purpose behind it." The number that was floated out there was 80, but given the fact that Ichiro hasn't stolen more than 45 bases the past six seasons, a more realistic goal might be 50 since he stole 56 bags as a rookie.

Ichiro Suzuki is intrigued about the idea of free agency, according to the Seattle Times. "I've played 15 years of professional baseball, including Japan and America and I have never filed for free agency," said Ichiro. "So, I've never had the choice to choose for myself which road I want to take. I've never had to do that in the past. So, if you ask me 'Is it possible I might go to free agency?' I would say 'Yes, it is a possibility.' " Ichiro's contract with Seattle expires after the 2007 season.
Ichiro Suzuki, RF, Seattle MarinersWednesday 1/24, 11:14 PM CT
The Mariners would like to work out a contract extension with Ichiro Suzuki, but there is no sense of urgency to get a deal done before the season begins, according to the AP. "It's a top priority," GM Bill Bavasi said Wednesday. "But the timing is not that important. Whatever he and (agent) Tony (Attanasio) are comfortable with. And whatever our ownership is comfortable with." Ichiro is set to be a free agent at the end of the 2007 season.

However, it is unclear how often Ichiro will play the position. "A lot of it has to do with how Ichiro feels about playing center field," manager Mike Hargrove said. "...
