Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 10/3, 11:36 AM CT
Newsday's David Lennon reports that Carlos Beltran is not in the Mets lineup on Saturday.

Our View: It's supposedly just a precaution, though he was a late scratch. Since coming off of the disabled list early last month, Beltran has hit .286 in 18 games.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 9/28, 9:40 AM CT
The New York Post is reporting that Mets' outfielder Carlos Beltran wants to finish his career with the team. Beltran believes he can play at least six more seasons, and he wants to play them out in New York with the Mets.

Our View: Beltran is looking for a contract extension, as his current deal expires after the 2011 season. He has shown plenty of heart this year, coming back from a serious knee injury to contribute to the team, so expect his agent, Scott Boras, to be in talks with the team after the season is out.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsWednesday 9/23, 9:49 PM CT
Carlos Beltran went 2-for-4 on Wednesday, but couldn't drive in any runs, as the Mets lost 5-2 to Atlanta at home.

Our View: In 12 games since coming off the disabled list earlier this month, Beltran is batting .325 with a home run and five RBI - very encouraging news for a team who thought his career might be in jeopardy earlier this season.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSunday 9/20, 3:19 PM CT
Carlos Beltran went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Sunday, helping pace the Mets to a 6-2 win over the Nats.

Our View: Beltran now has five RBI in nine games since returning from the disabled list. With a .337 average in 71 games this season, he's still a good option for 2010.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsFriday 9/18, 9:51 PM CT
Carlos Beltran was productive in tonight's 6-5 loss to Washington at Citi Field, as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Both of his knocks were singles.

Our View: Beltran has two hits in each of his last two games, and is hitting .321 over 28 at-bats this month. He snapped a four-game skid without an RBI tonight as well.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 9/12, 12:08 PM CT
Carlos Beltran will return to the Mets' lineup on Saturday. Beltran is hitting fourth and playing center field for the team's game against the Phillies.

Our View: Beltran has missed two straight games, but he is ready to go today. He was out last night because of the wet conditions, so consider him healthy and good to go today.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsFriday 9/11, 2:58 PM CT
Carlos Beltran is not in the Mets lineup versus the Phillies on Friday, according to Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post.

Our View: Beltran was supposed to play all three days this weekend (though not both doubleheader games on Sunday), but it has been raining much of the day in Philadelphia and the team likely doesn't want to risk him re-injuring his tender knee on a wet field. Weather cooperating, he will start on Saturday.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsFriday 9/11, 8:54 AM CT
Carlos Beltran will likely play in three of the Mets' four games this weekend, according to the New York Post.

Our View: He's going to receive regular days of for the rest of the season as he returns from his knee injury, but the team is going to see if he can play three of four games against the Phillies this weekend. Ideally, he would have sat out Sunday, but with the team playing a doubleheader, they want to try and stretch him out. Since returning on Tuesday he is 2-for-8.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsThursday 9/10, 11:18 AM CT
Carlos Beltran will not be in the Mets' lineup for their game Thursday against the Marlins, according to MLB.com. Manager Jerry Manuel wants to get Beltran a rest at least once a series.

Our View: Manuel said that this is almost like Spring Training for Beltran, and he doesn't want to push the outfielder too fast. Beltran should play the rest of the way, but be prepared for him to sit a few times a week if you are using him in your outfield.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsWednesday 9/9, 9:05 PM CT
In his second game back in the lineup since being on the disabled list since June 21, Carlos Beltran went 1-for-4 with a run scored on Wednesday.

Our View: He is now 2-for-8 since being activated. Don't expect big things down the stretch.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsTuesday 9/8, 8:08 AM CT
Carlos Beltran is set to rejoin the Mets on Tuesday after finishing his rehab assignment, according to the New York Daily News. Beltran has been on the DL since June 21 with a bone bruise on his right knee.

Our View: It is too little, too late for the Mets at this point, but it has to be nice just to have a guy like Beltran back and playing. He made it through his rehab assignment just fine, and if you need some outfield help it might be worth giving him a chance.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 9/5, 1:05 PM CT
If Carlos Beltran (knee) can get through two full games for Single-A Brooklyn this weekend, he will be activated from the disabled list and join the Mets this Tuesday, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: The Mets playoff hopes are alive after all! All kidding aside, it would be nice for the team to know if Beltran is 100 percent healthy heading into 2010.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsWednesday 9/2, 10:15 PM CT
According to Metsblog.com, Carlos Beltran went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI in his first rehab game for the Single-A Brooklyn Cyclones.

Our View: This bodes well for Beltran and his comeback hopes. He insists he'll return this season and wants to play for "peace of mind" since the Mets are clearly out of the race. He is slated to start in the field in tomorrow's game and play five innings.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsWednesday 9/2, 8:21 AM CT
Carlos Beltran wants to play again this season for "peace of mind," according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View: Beltran is beginning a rehab assignment Wednesday night at Single-A Brooklyn and will rejoin the Amazins next week barring a setback. With the mysterious and lingering nature of his knee injury, and the fact that the Mets are sitting 18.5 games out of first place, it truly does make little sense for him to come back in 2009. Team doctors have said that Beltran will not be risking further injury by returning, however, and this looks like a way for the team to begin the healing process from its disastrous season a little early.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 8/31, 6:29 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, Carlos Beltran (bone bruise) has been given the green light to begin a minor league rehab assignment, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Team medical director Dr. David Altchek cleared him to shed his knee brace, and Beltran will play with Single-A Brooklyn Wednesday. The elite outfielder could return to the Mets in 7-10 days, barring a setback.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 8/31, 12:43 PM CT
Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman is reporting on his Twitter page that Mets' outfielder Carlos Beltran could return in 7-to-10 days. Beltran has been on the DL since June 22 with a bone bruise on his right knee.

Our View: Beltran returning to the Mets' lineup isn't nearly enough to get them back in the race, but it would be some good news in a season that was filled with disappointment. If Beltran is close to fully healthy when he comes back, he could be an excellent addition to a fantasy team for the playoffs. It is unclear how he will respond when he does get back on the field, however, and it would be smart to limit your expectations of him.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 8/24, 8:32 AM CT
According to the New York Daily News, Mets' outfielder Carlos Beltran said his knee has been pain-free for about two weeks, but he has not been cleared to run the bases. Beltran insisted that he plans to return to the lineup before this season is over.

Our View: Unfortunately for Beltran, running the bases is a prerequisite for beginning a rehab assignment, so his comeback won't be able to advance until he gets that clearance. He wants to play again this year, but with the Mets spiraling toward the bottom of the division, they surely won't rush to get him back out there. If he does contribute again this season, it likely won't be for another several weeks.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsWednesday 8/19, 5:42 PM CT
Carlos Beltran ran in the outfield and took batting practice wth his Mets' teammates on Wednesday, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Beltran is closing in on a rehab assignment, and he has made some major strides in his recovery over the last week or so. It looks like he should return in late August or early September, so those of you who have been stashing him should be ready to activate him in the next few weeks.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 8/15, 4:09 PM CT
Carlos Beltran deemed himself fit to take the next step in his recovery from his knee injury, according to the Associated Press. He said, "Today was very good day for me. I did not feel anything in everything I did."

Our View: The elite outfielder is hopeful of running in a straight line early next week, then advance to running the bases before going on a short minor league rehab assignment. Beltran is uncertain exactly when he may return to the Mets, but it could be before the end of August.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsFriday 8/14, 5:33 PM CT
The New York Post reports that Mets manager Jerry Manuel is "very optimistic" Carlos Beltran (knee) will return to the field in 2009.

Our View: Ohh. He still plays? Obviously a joke, but the silence on Beltran in recent weeks has been deafening. He's been dealing with a lingering bone bruise on his rigth knee, but will go through a series of tests on Saturday. If they go well, he could be back very shortly.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 8/3, 11:10 PM CT
Carlos Beltran fielded 30-35 fly balls Monday at Citi Field, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He experienced pain in his bruised right knee, and admitted that his knee needs to improve before he would feel comfortable roaming the outfield. The elite center fielder is feeling better though, and remains hopeful of returning to action in around two weeks.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 8/1, 7:31 PM CT
Carlos Beltran took batting practice Saturday and did not experience any discomfort, according to the Star Ledger. He has been on the DL since June 22 with a right knee injury.

Our View: Skipper Jerry Manuel is optimistic that Beltran could be around two weeks from returning to New York. The elite outfielder shall remain stashed on fantasy rosters.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsThursday 7/30, 7:44 PM CT
Carlos Beltran could miss most, if not all, of the 2010 campaign if he opts for microfracture surgery on his ailing right knee, according to Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus.

Our View: The surgery is the worst-case scenario, and the elite outfielder is still hoping to return to the Mets at some point in mid-August. He is boosting the pace of his rehab, and shall remain stashed on fantasy rosters.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsFriday 7/24, 6:57 PM CT
Carlos Beltran will have his ailing right knee re-examined within the next few days, according to MetsBlog.com.

Our View: Surgery remains an option for the star outfielder. He may not return to New York until August.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsThursday 7/16, 4:22 PM CT
Carlos Beltran's bone bruise on his right knee has not yet shrunk enough for him to resume full baseball activity yet, according to Newsday.

Our View: Beltran is apparently a very slow healer. An MVP candidate before he went down, it is still unclear just when the Mets slugger will be back. The best guess appears to be before the end of the season. Keep him stashed, and hope for a breakthrough. Stay tuned.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsTuesday 7/7, 3:54 PM CT
According to the Twitter page of Mets' writer David Lennon, New York outfielder Carlos Beltran has not resumed baseball activity yet. He will be reevaluated at the All-Star break, but he is expected to be out until at least late July.

Our View: It doesn't sound like Beltran is improving much, which is terrible news for the injury-plagued Mets. Beltran owners should keep him on the DL, but don't be shocked if we get into August and he still isn't playing.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 7/6, 9:51 AM CT
No timetable has been set for Carlos Beltran to begin a rehab assignment, according to MetsBlog.com.

Our View: Be ready for a long haul with this one. The Mets haven't appeared to handle injuries very well this season, and the always creaky Beltran probably isn't too quick of a healer at age 32. He likely won't be out too terribly long, just longer than you think.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsTuesday 6/30, 11:48 AM CT
Updating a previous report, the New York Daily News is now saying that Carlos Beltran will not need microfracture surgery and that his original diagnosis of a bone bruise was correct.

Our View: This should come as a huge sigh of relief for the Amazins and Beltran owners, as there was some speculation that he might never be the same player again. He will still be out through the All-Star break, which is longer than originally thought, but should be back soon afterward.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsTuesday 6/30, 9:19 AM CT
Carlos Beltran could require microfracture knee surgery on his balky right knee, according to the New York Post. The surgery could jeopardize his 2009 season, and possibly even his career, were he to have it.

Our View: The gut punches just keep coming for the New York Mets. The team will surely avoid the procedure, usually reserved for NBA players, at all costs, but that might just mean Beltran coming back and playing through more pain. If you are a Beltran owner, be sure to stay tuned, as the fate as his season will be decided in these next few days.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 6/29, 5:49 PM CT
Carlos Beltran is visiting a specialist in Colorado Monday at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic to examine the bone bruise under his right knee, according to Newsday. That is the same facility that Alex Rodriguez underwent his hip surgery.

Our View: Dr. Richard Steadman is a specialist in micro-fracture surgery, but he or the Mets did not comment that Beltran may need the procedure. The club wants to see how far the star outfielder's injury has progressed.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 6/29, 8:49 AM CT
Mets manager Jerry Manuel says the team needs to trade for a "big bat," according to the New York Post.

Our View: It's hard to argue with the Amazins' skipper. The Mets were outscored 18-3 and swept by the Yankees in embarrassing fashion over the weekend, and have now scored two runs or fewer in four of their last six games, looking completely overmatched in the process.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsWednesday 6/24, 3:47 PM CT
Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman reports that injured Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran is seeking a second opinion on his balky right knee, but that a return to the Mets when he is eligible in two weeks is still very unlikely.

Our View: The news is getting worse for Beltran owners, as he appears headed for a prolonged stint on the DL. We'll update you as soon as the results from the second opinion are released.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsTuesday 6/23, 5:42 PM CT
Mets GM Omar Minaya told the New York Post on Tuesday that the best case scenario for injured slugger Carlos Beltran would be him returning after the minimum 15 days out. He then rather ominously added, "If we get him back for the second half (after the All-Star Break), I'd sign up for that right now."

Our View: Doesn't sound like the Mets think Beltran's knee problems are any minor thing. This is just more bad news for the Amazins' and Beltran fantasy owners. Hold your breath that he is activated from the DL when eligible on July 7, but plan for longer.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 6/22, 4:55 PM CT
As expected, Carlos Beltran has been placed on the 15-day DL with his bruised right knee, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Beltran was unable to play through sharp pain caused by the injury. Fernando Martinez and Jeremy Reed will share the workload in center field while Beltran is on the shelf. GM Omar Minaya hopes Beltran will be ready to return in two weeks.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 6/22, 4:12 PM CT
Carlos Beltran is bound for the 15-day DL due to his ailing knee, according to Ed Price's twitter page.

Our View: Mets' GM Omar Minaya is hopeful that Beltran will only be on the shelf for two weeks. The pain in his knee became too much to play with.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSunday 6/21, 6:53 PM CT
Carlos Beltran is slated for an MRI Monday on his ailing knee, and does not believe he can play much more with increased pain, according to MLB.com. He said, "I do not feel I can play a lot of games the way it felt today. I am a little bit worried, to be honest, because the way it was today, it was painful."

Our View: Beltran may be headed to the DL. He is dealing with a sharp pain that prevents him from running at full speed. Stay tuned for updates on the star outfielder.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSunday 6/21, 11:12 AM CT
According to Newsday, Carlos Beltran is in the lineup for Sunday's game despite having to undergo an MRI on Monday.

Our View: Looks like Beltran's balky knee won't keep him out of action. Be sure to keep him in your lineup, as even though he's been racked with injuries, he's still producing.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 6/20, 3:00 PM CT
According to Newsday, Carlos Beltran's knee is still bothering him and the outfielder plans to schedule an MRI in the near future. Beltran states, "I just want to make sure it's not going to get worse. If it can get worse, I want to take care of it."

Our View: Despite the painful bone bruise, Beltran is in the lineup for Saturday's game. However, he was in a good amount of pain in Friday's game and says that each day is a struggle. Here's hoping he can play through it because the Mets can ill afford another crucial injury to a blue chip player. He can't play through the pain forever though.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsThursday 6/18, 9:30 PM CT
Carlos Beltran was 2-for-4 with two stolen bases on Thursday, but the Mets still lost 5-4 to the Orioles at Citi Field.

Our View: Despite his power numbers being down because of the cavernous Citi Field, Beltran is on pace to have his best season yet in 2009 and is a top ten fantasy player in every format.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsThursday 6/11, 9:41 PM CT
Carlos Beltran was productive in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Phillies at Citi Field, as he went 1-for-3 with a double and three RBI.

Our View: Beltran has a four-game hitting streak, and continues to lead the Mets with 38 RBI. He accounted for their entire scoring output tonight.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsThursday 6/4, 2:51 PM CT
After missing three games with a stomach virus (and not swine flu), Mets center fielder Carlos Beltran returned to the lineup on Thursday against the Pirates and went 2-for-4 with a home run.

Our View: Whatever Beltran had, he appears to be over it and once again a must start every day.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsWednesday 6/3, 3:16 PM CT
Updating a previous report, Carlos Beltran has apparently recovered from his stomach ailment and will return to the lineup Wednesday against the Pirates, according to the New York Post.

Our View: Beltran is saying the illness was food poisoning, but that doesn't explain how John Maine caught it from him. Still, Beltran appears to be safe to plug back into your lineup. He did however lose five pounds while he was sick, but we don't think it will affect his power stroke.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsWednesday 6/3, 2:48 PM CT
According to SI.com, Carlos Beltran will miss his fourth straight game Wednesday with a bout of the flu. The sickness has been classified as just a case of the stomach flu and Swine flu has been officially ruled out.

Our View: The Mets were concerned that Beltran and John Maine, who is suffering from the same ailment, had caught Swine flu from a Mets' employee who is being tested for the illness. Apparently no one has it, so breathe easy. Beltran will be replaced once again by Jeremy Reed, but should be back in the lineup soon.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsTuesday 6/2, 2:47 PM CT
The New York Daily News reports that Carlos Beltran will sit out his third straight game tonight because of a stomach virus.

Our View: This means that Jeremy Reed will again get the start in the ailing Beltran's place. Last night he went 2 for 4 with two doubles.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 6/1, 5:42 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, Carlos Beltran will miss his second straight game with a stomach virus, according to the Associated Press. He was previously expected to return tonight.

Our View: Jeremy Reed will roam in center field in his absence. Beltran should not miss much more time with the illness.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 6/1, 3:40 PM CT
MetsBlog.com is reporting that Carlos Beltran will be in the Mets' lineup for their Monday night game against the Pirates. Beltran missed Sunday's game with a stomach virus.

Our View: Must have been a 24-hour flu thing. Beltran is back and he is hitting third in the order, so fantasy owners need to get him in tonight. He will be facing Ian Snell, who is 1-6 with a 5.43 ERA so far this season. He is a must play.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSunday 5/31, 10:09 AM CT
According to the New York Daily News, Carlos Beltran has been scratched from the Mets' lineup on Sunday with a stomach virus. He is being replaced in center field by Angel Pagan.

Our View: Beltran just can't seem to stay on the field. He has battled injury, and now he is sick, which can wreak havoc on fantasy owners. Get him out if you still have time today, but he should be back soon.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 5/30, 2:28 PM CT
Carlos Beltran left Saturday's game against the Marlins with a "stomach bug", according to the WFAN broadcast.

Our View: Beltran has battled a shin bruise and a knee injury of late, but neither of those seemed to be a factor in his removal today. Hopefully, he has enough time to recover prior to tomorrow's game.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsFriday 5/29, 3:35 PM CT
The New York Daily News is reporting that Carlos Beltran will return to the Mets' lineup on Friday. Beltran has missed the last two games with a bone bruise in his right tibia.

Our View: Beltran is not likely 100 percent yet, but fantasy owners should get him into the lineup if possible tonight. Beltran has been outstanding this season, and it looks like he will be back for good as long as he doesn't aggravate the injury.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsTuesday 5/26, 6:08 PM CT
According to Sports Illustrated, Carlos Beltran will be on the bench until Friday with a bruised knee.

Our View: The MRI revealed a bruise and an inflamed tibia, and the Mets hope that three days of rest will be enough for Beltran to get back in the lineup. This is actually good news for the Mets, because the injury could have been much more serious. Beltran won't be 100 percent when he returns, but some Beltran is better than none. And he is having an fantastic season so far. The Mets need his bat in the lineup. Even if it isn't fully up to snuff.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsTuesday 5/26, 8:46 AM CT
Carlos Beltran is slated for an MRI today on his ailing right knee, according to MetsBlog.com.

Our View: The knee has been bothering him the last week, and that is why he worked in the DH role at Boston. Beltran was able to roam in center field in Monday's game, and we will keep you posted on his MRI results.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 5/25, 10:03 PM CT
Carlos Beltran started in center field in the Mets 5-2 win over the Nationals on Monday. He was 2-for-3 a run scored, an RBI, and a walk in the victory.

Our View: Beltran saw some time at DH in the weekend series against the Red Sox due to a sore right knee. He has managed at least one hit in each of his last five games despite the ailment.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 5/25, 2:51 PM CT
Carlos Beltran deemed himself healthy enough to start in center field for tonight's game against the Nationals at Citi Field, according to the New York Post. He has been nursing a sore right knee.

Our View: The elite fantasy outfielder should be safe to keep active in fantasy lineups. He is hitting .307 with 19 homers and 65 RBI over 81 career meetings with Washington.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsFriday 5/22, 6:44 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Carlos Beltran was moved from center field to DH prior to Friday night's game against the Red Sox due to right knee soreness.

Our View: If the injury was serious, he probably wouldn't be hitting No. 3 in the order as the DH tonight. Hopefully a night off from the field will cure what ails him. Beltran continues to be one of the most complete players in the game.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 5/16, 6:34 PM CT
Carlos Beltran went 3-for-5 with two doubles, three runs scored, and three RBI in the Mets' 9-6 win over the Giants on Saturday.

Our View: Beltran is staying hot, and he seems to get three hits in every game. When Beltran gets hot, he really gets the job done. Don't expect this all season, but you can expect it for most of the season because he is really good.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsTuesday 5/12, 10:42 PM CT
Carlos Beltran was 2-for-4 with a tenth-inning walk off walk on Tuesday as the Mets topped the Braves 4-3 in extras.

Our View: Beltran doubled and scored in the ninth off Braves closer Mike Gonzalez to tie the game and then worked the walk in the tenth to win it. Quite a game from the red hot fantasy outfielder who is hitting .374.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 5/9, 3:10 PM CT
Carlos Beltran went 2-for-5 with a solo homer in Saturday's 10-1 win over Pittsburgh at Citi Field. His other knock was a single.

Our View: Beltran has six homers, with two coming over his last three games. He has four RBI over that span as well.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 5/4, 9:31 PM CT
Carlos Beltran homered twice on Monday as the Mets beat the Braves 6-4. Beltran was 2-for-3 with the two homers and four RBI.

Our View: Beltran has been one of the hottest hitters so far in 2009, but he had little to show for it in power numbers. This just goes to show you that Beltran is still a top outfield option in all leagues, especially when he is hitting for power like he did tonight.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 4/25, 4:03 PM CT
Carlos Beltran continued his hot start to the year by producing three hits five at-bats as he also scored two runs, knocked one in, and stole his first base of the year.

Our View: Oddly, despite hitting .415 with an OBP above .500, Beltran has only scored seven runs in his first 17 games and today's steal was his first of the year. Still, Beltran is one of the most consistent offensive forces in the game, to you can pretty much lock in the 20 home runs and 20 steals that have become his year calling card.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsThursday 4/23, 4:31 PM CT
His Mets got swept, but Carlos Beltran continued his hot hitting in the series. He was 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in the Mets' 12-8 loss to the Cardinals on Thursday.

Our View: Beltran was 8-for-12 in the series and boosted his average into Ty Cobb territory. He's now hitting .404 on the season with 12 RBI, but has only homered twice and hasn't stolen a base yet. Expect the long balls to pile up eventually and the steals will come with time as well.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsWednesday 4/22, 9:51 PM CT
Carlos Beltran was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI as the Mets fell in St. Louis 5-2 on Wednesday. He was the only batter in their lineup with more than one hit.

Our View: Beltran is hitting at a .385 clip through 52 at bats this April. However, he has yet to attempt a stolen base.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSunday 4/12, 3:27 PM CT
Carlos Beltran went 1-for-4 with an RBI single in Sunday's 2-1 loss at the Marlins.

Our View: Beltran registered the Mets' lone RBI in the loss, and has a hit in all six games of the season so far.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsFriday 4/10, 10:20 PM CT
Carlos Beltran was 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in a losing effort as the Mets fell to the Marlins 5-4 on Friday.

Our View: Beltran had his first extra base hit of the season today and it went over the wall. The Mets are counting on his power to compete in a tough division this season. He remains a top fantasy outfielder.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsWednesday 3/25, 3:51 PM CT
Carlos Beltran went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Wednesday's 10-6 loss to Detroit. He hit a single and a double.

Our View: He was dealing with a stiff neck, but looks to be fine, evidenced by today's solid outing. He is safe to target as a top-10 fantasy outfielder.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 3/23, 8:47 AM CT
Carlos Beltran was scratched from Sunday's lineup with a stiff neck, according to MetsBlog.com.

Our View: He will not travel with the Mets on Tuesday, but is expected to return to the lineup Wednesday. The ailment appears to be minor.

Carlos Beltran was 1-for-1 with three walks, a double, and a stolen base in Puerto Rico's 2-0 loss to Venezuela on Monday.

Our View: Beltran has now reached base in his last eight plate appearances and he is hitting .500 in the WBC. Reports say that he is having a blast playing for his country, and his jovialness has shown in his production.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 3/14, 10:22 PM CT
Carlos Beltran was 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, three runs scored, a walk and a stolen base as Puerto Rico whupped Team USA 11-1 on Saturday.

Our View: It was an encouraging performance from a player who is still holding onto the title of one of the NL's elite outfielders. He is batting .476 while hitting third for Puerto Rico in the WBC.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsThursday 2/26, 4:18 PM CT
Centerfielder Carlos Beltran hit a home run and drove in three runs Thursday afternoon as the Mets pounded the Marlins 9-0 in a Grapefruit League game.

Our View: You can't judge much from one exhibition game, but if Beltran and Jose Reyes produce during the regular season the way they did today (driving in all nine Met runs), the New York lineup is going to be scary.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsTuesday 2/17, 5:15 PM CT
Carlos Beltran had some unkind words for Philadelphia starter Cole Hamels today, according to the New York Post. "Well, you know, he made a comment," Beltran said of Hamels upon arriving in camp this morning. "The only thing that I know is that he will be watched every time he faces us and hopefully we kill him. And then he'll have to deal with the situation."

Our View: Met fans are hoping Beltran improves on his 27 home run, 112 RBI performance from last season. Hopefully distractions like this will not hurt his performance.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsTuesday 12/30, 6:38 PM CT
The Mets may be tweaking their black home jerseys for next season, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Now that the Mets will no longer be playing in Shea Stadium, one of the least aesthetically pleasing stadiums in MLB, it appears they want to take some of the ugly with them by adding it to these uniforms.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsFriday 10/10, 12:22 PM CT
The New York Mets will be willing to listen to offers for center fielder Carlos Beltran, according to MetsBlog.com.

Our View: Take that for what it is worth. General managers likely take calls on pretty much everybody, just for due diligence, but they rarely lead to anything.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsWednesday 10/1, 8:06 PM CT
CBS Sports reports that the New York Mets scheduled a telephone news conference for Thursday to announce a new contract for general manager Omar Minaya.

Our View: Under Minaya, the Mets have seen their payroll skyrocket but they have been edged out of each of the past two postseasons. Among his biggest tasks this winter will be finding a closer to replace Billy Wagner.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSunday 9/28, 4:24 PM CT
Carlos Beltran did his part to try and get the Mets into the playoffs in what turned out to be his final game of the season. He accounted for both Mets' RBI with a home run in their 4-2 loss to the Marlins on Sunday.

Our View: All-in-all, it was a pretty good fantasy performance for Beltran in 2008. His 25 stolen bases were the most he had swiped since joined the Mets. He also contributed his highest batting average as a Met to go with 27 home runs, 112 RBI and 116 runs scored.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 9/27, 2:10 PM CT
Carlos Beltran was moved up to the No. 2 spot in the batting order on Saturday against the Marlins. Carlos Delgado was moved to No. 3, David Wright to cleanup and Daniel Murphy will hit fifth.

Our View: Beltran is just 3-for-9 in the two-hole this season. Logically, he will get more at bats hitting here rather than the No.5 spot that he had been hitting in lately.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsThursday 9/25, 10:54 PM CT
Carlos Beltran drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth as the Mets defeated the Cubs 7-6 on Thursday night. Beltran was 2-for-4 with two runs, an RBI, and a stolen base.

Our View: His 25 stolen bases are the most since 2004 when he had 42. Beltran undoubtedly spared the lives of many Mets fans who could hardly stand to lose another game in extra innings - especailly against the minor league lineup that the Cubs trotted out on Thursday.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsTuesday 9/23, 8:02 PM CT
Carlos Beltran is still in pain as a result of his collision with the wall on Monday, but he will play through the pain, according to MLB.com. The most tender area for Beltran is his rib cage, which burns when he tries to breathe.

Our View: The rib cage hurts most when Beltran hits from the right side of the plate, so you may want to temper your expectations for him a bit when the opposing team has a lefty on the mound.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 9/22, 11:22 PM CT
Carlos Beltran injured himself when when he ran into the wall on Monday night but he managed to stay in the game, according to the Mets Official Website. "...I am most concerned about my knee. It hurts," Beltran said. "I expect to come out and do everything I can do to play [on Tuesday against the Cubs], because we are in a situation where we have to play."

Our View: Beltran certainly hit the wall hard and it initially looked like he had done some serious damage to himself. That he was able to stay in the game after the collision is a good sign, so hopefully the knee doesn't swell up over night and he is able to suit up on Tuesday.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsWednesday 9/17, 10:02 PM CT
Carlos Beltran had his third multiple home run night Wednesday night against the Nats. Beltran hit home run numbers 25 and 26 in the Mets' 9-7 win.

Our View: The top of the Mets order had been struggling coming into tonight's game but it all changed when Beltran, Carlos Delgado and Jose Reyes all hit home runs.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsWednesday 9/10, 10:18 PM CT
Carlos Beltran went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI for the Mets on Wednesday night. Fernando Tatis also had three hits, two RBI and two runs scored.

Our View: Beltran pushed his hitting streak to nine games, and he has 16 RBI and 13 runs scored over his last 11 games as he is putting on a late season run as he is once again proving that he is almost always underappreciated on drat day.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsTuesday 9/9, 10:02 PM CT
Carlos Beltran and Carlos Delgado are doing everything they can to make sure the Mets make the playoffs. Beltran hit his 23rd home run on Tuesday night against the Nationals helping the Mets win 10-8.

Our View: Beltran reached the century mark in RBI tonight and has been a good contributor all year.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsTuesday 9/2, 10:58 PM CT
Carlos Beltran had a sore knee, but he still managed to 2-for-3 with three RBI, as he launched a three-run shot off of Milwaukee's Manny Parra to help lead the Mets to a 6-5 win.

Our View: Beltran has five home runs in his last nine games, and if he continues on this pace, he'll have an outside shot at 30 home runs. As it is, he needs just one stolen base to be a 20-20 player, which fantasy owners love to see.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsTuesday 9/2, 4:49 PM CT
Carlos Beltran, who was questionable for tonight's game in Milwaukee with a sore knee, is in the starting lineup.

Our View: Beltran got tangled up with the home plate umpire while trying to score from second base in Monday's 4-2 win over the Brewers. With tonight's start, any concerns about the center fielder's health should dissipate.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 9/1, 5:29 PM CT
Carlos Beltran was forced from the Mets game on Monday with what is being called a bruised right knee, according to the New York Post.

Our View: Beltran suffered the injury in the eighth inning when he collided with umpire Ed Rapuano at home plate as he scored a run. At this point he is being listed as day to day.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSunday 8/31, 9:38 AM CT

Our View: Beltran has hit .305 with five home runs in August, so fantasy owners would love to see him cap the month off with a big day.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsFriday 8/29, 9:41 PM CT
Carlos Beltran went 2-for-4 with five RBI in Friday's close 5-4 win over the Marlins, with the knockout blow coming on a grand slam in the top of the ninth inning off reliever Kevin Gregg.

Our View: Beltran has 20 homers and 91 RBI for the season. He also extended his hitting streak to five games, with five hits coming over his last two outings.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSunday 8/24, 3:28 PM CT
They needed 10 innings to settle it but the Mets fell 6-4 to Houston this afternoon despite the efforts of outfielder Carlos Beltran, going 2-for-3 at the plate with two homers on the day, totaling three RBIs and two runs scored.

Our View: That brings Beltran to four homers with 14 RBIs and 16 runs scored on the month, a dramatic .284 average included to improve on the .248/3 homers/15 runs scored of July.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 8/18, 3:02 PM CT

Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsThursday 8/14, 9:13 PM CT
Carlos Beltran had an RBI in every game of the Mets sweep of the Nationals, including a sacrifice fly in Thursday's 9-3 win.

Our View: Beltran is hitting .340 for the month, nearly 100 points higher than his .248 mark of July. He has been solid overall this year, but has not put up extraordinary numbers in any category.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 8/9, 10:20 PM CT
The Mets managed to find just enough hits to put the Marlins to bed, winning 8-6 with a little bit of help from outfielder Carlos Beltran. Beltran went 3-for-3 at the dish with one walk and his 16th homer of the season, totaling three RBIs and two runs scored.

Our View: After hitting just .248 with thee homers and 18 RBIs last month, Beltran has picked up the pieces and started hot in August, hitting .321 for August coming into tonight's matchup.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 8/9, 12:55 PM CT
If history holds true, Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran will put up good numbers tonight against the Marlins and hurler Scott Olsen. In his career against the lefty, Beltran is hitting .409 with two home runs and a .500 on-base percentage.

Our View: Beltran has not hit a home run since July 13, so fantasy owners wouldn't mind seeing him get off the snide tonight against a pitcher he has dominated.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 8/2, 3:27 PM CT
Carlos Beltran is hitting second in the Mets lineup tonight against Houston and pitcher Roy Oswalt, according to the New York Daily News. Beltran has a career .471 on-base percentage against his former teammate.

Our View: As noted by his on-base percentage, Beltran has had success against Oswalt, albeit in just 16 plate appearances. He also has one home run and six RBI off of the righthander.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSunday 7/13, 10:12 PM CT
Carlos Beltran hit a three-run homer helping Mike Pelfrey and the New York Mets defeat the Colorado Rockies 7-0 Sunday night.

Our View: Beltran has been fabulous in July, and if he can continue his hot hitting and raise his .262 batting average he will again become one of the top-tiered fantasy options in the outfield.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsWednesday 7/9, 2:39 PM CT
Carlos Beltran has registered three hits in two of his last three games and could be on the verge of a hot streak and strong second half of the season, according to the NY Post. Beltran said, "We can turn around things quickly. Right now we're in good position. We're playing teams that maybe are not in contention but that doesn't mean anything. That means we really have to go out there and approach those teams the same way we approach the Phillies and the guys in our division."

Our View: He had four RBI on Tuesday against the Giants, and had homered twice in his last three games as well. The Mets have won four-straight games, and are only 1.5 games back in the NL East.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsTuesday 7/8, 9:16 PM CT
Carlos Beltran put together another good game at the plate. He belted his 14th home run of the season on a 3-for-4 night. He added four RBI.

Our View: Fantasy owners are no doubt excited to see his offense pickup ever since having been threaten to bat second in the order.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSunday 7/6, 8:21 PM CT
Carlos Beltran went 3-for-6 with a home run and two RBI on Sunday. The center fielder added two stolen bases in the winning effort.

Our View: Beltran was just two for his last 27. Fantasy owners beg for more performances like this in the second half.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 7/5, 7:53 PM CT
Carlos Beltran could be move up to second in the batting order as manager Jerry Manuel is locking for a way to spark some life into his offense, according to MLB.com. "It's a strong consideration if his bat doesn't liven up quickly," Manuel said.

Our View: With Luis Castillo on the DL, the team went with Ryan Church in the spot on Saturday, but the team has to figure out what to do with the slumping Beltran who's average has fallen to .262 with only two hits in his last 28 AB.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 6/28, 8:00 PM CT
Carlos Beltran had a rough day at the plate on Saturday striking out in all four plate appearances. Three of his strike outs came against the Yankees' starter Andy Pettitte.

Our View: Beltran can be excused from the poor performance. He's been hot in June and is hitting .276 with 54 RBI, 58 runs scored and 11 stolen bases on the season.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsTuesday 6/24, 8:35 PM CT
Carlos Beltran was thrown out arguing balls and strikes in the fourth inning. New manager Jerry Manuel was ejected, as well.

Our View: At least the manager's got his back. The high emotions did little for the Mets as they were down 10-0 going into the ninth.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 6/23, 9:13 PM CT
New Mets manager Jerry Manuel would like Carlos Beltran to run more often, according to MLB.com. "It's going to be addressed," Manuel said. "He's going to run into a couple of outs. That's OK." Beltran stole his 11th base (in 12 attempts) of the season Monday. His 88.1 percent success rate is the highest among active players with at least 200 steals. "I don't like to get thrown out," Beltran said when told of his manager's remarks. "I like to push it when I feel I can make it to second base. If it's a 3-1 count and they tell me I have to go, I'll go. But I don't like to get thrown out when I'm on my own."

Our View: We'll have to see if Carlos does end up running more often. If he does, it would obviously make his fantasy owners quite happy.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSunday 6/22, 5:17 PM CT
Carlos Beltran hit his 11th home run of the year leading to his 49th and 50th RBI of the season for the Mets.

Our View: Beltran has finally woken up at the plate and is hitting well over .300 since the start of May. In 20 games in the month of June he has gone deep six times with 18 RBI and is clearly back to being the type of top-25 force that we are used to seeing.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsWednesday 6/11, 10:34 PM CT
Carlos Beltran hit a game-winning two run home run off of Edgar Gonzalez in the 13th inning on Wednesday night.

Our View: Beltran had two hits on the night and knocked in four runs and he is now hitting .295 since the start of May to push his average up to .264. Still, he is limping along and may not reach the 20/20 level this season, though especially trouble is the seven home runs after averaging 37 home runs the past two years.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSunday 6/1, 10:47 PM CT
Carlos Beltran hit his second home run in as many games and the New York Mets beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-1 on Sunday night.

Our View: Beltran now has 34 RBI, 39 runs scored, six home runs, seven stolen bases and is hitting .264 on the season. We all know how streaky Beltran can be, and if he can continue to be a threat at the plate, the Mets don't have an easy out in the top half of the lineup.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 5/31, 6:11 PM CT
Carlos Beltran went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Saturday's exciting 3-2 win over the Dodgers.

Our View: He has five homers and 32 RBI over 53 games, but still needs to bring up his .263 average. That was also his third homer and 19th RBI in May.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsFriday 5/23, 11:24 AM CT
According to the New York Daily News, manager Willie Randolph is in jeopardy of losing his job if the Mets don't perform well this weekend in Colorado. The club has lost four straight games (all to the Braves) and sit at 22-23.

Our View: Last season's collapse hasn't been forgotten. It's not Randolph's fault that Pedro Martinez, Orlando Hernandez, and Moises Alou can't stay healthy, but somebody has to be the scapegoat.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsThursday 5/22, 10:37 PM CT
Carlos Beltran had two hits including his fourth home run of the season while he also added his sixth SB of the year on Thursday night.

Our View: Beltran really hasn't been able to get much traction this season though he does have hits in 10 of his last 11 games. Still, the home run power has totally disappeared thanks to a HR/F ratio that is about half of what it normally is (8.6%).
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSunday 5/11, 3:29 PM CT
Carlos Beltran wrapped up a productive weekend by going 2-for-5 with a homer, double, two runs, and three RBI in a win over the Reds. The outfielder went 5-for-11 with eight RBI in the three-game set.

Our View: How quickly times change, huh? Beltran's numbers are still a bit low, but 21 RBI looks a lot better than 13, right? Keep on being patient, folks.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 5/10, 4:19 PM CT
The Mets racked up a total of 12 runs on 12 hits in a big win over the Cincinnati Reds, led by an outstanding performance by OF Carlos Beltran . Beltran went 2-for-3 at the dish with a walk, hitting his second triple of the season to total a whopping five RBIs and one run scored on the day.

Our View: The fans in New York have been waiting to see if Beltran was going to step it up this season, and while he has not hit a HR since April 24th, Beltran has seen improved results with the bat and has his numbers on the rise as a result.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsThursday 5/8, 7:35 PM CT
Carlos Beltran is battling the flu and opposing pitchers as he is hitting under .220, but the team believes things will change for the better soon, according to MLB.com. "If your timing is off, you could have the greatest swing in the world, but you're not going to be consistent," hitting coach Howard Johnson said. "That's kind of where he's at."

Our View: Beltran has only a couple of long balls in 32 games, one of his worst power droughts of his career. Still, he has 25 BB and 26 K, so he has maintained his ability to work the count despite the poor numbers. He is too good to be this bad, so you might want to explore trading for him.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsWednesday 5/7, 3:54 PM CT
Carlos Beltran's flu-like symptoms, subsided enough by Wednesday for Beltran to return to his starting role in center field on Wednesday, this according to MLB.com. "I'm better now," Beltran said. "It's good. No problem." The team announced on Tuesday, prior to the game, that the Mets cleanup hitter was experiencing flu-like symptoms. Beltran told the team's website it was a stomach virus.

Our View: Beltran came into Wednesday's finale of a three-game set against the Mets with 24 runs scored, 13 RBI and two home runs, while hitting a puny .219.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 4/26, 3:52 PM CT
Carlos Beltran went 1-for-4 and contributed two RBI on his ninth double of the season, in Saturday's 4-3 win over Atlanta.

Our View: He has now registered an RBI in three straight games, but his batting average remains low at .222. He only hit two homers over 81 at-bats as well. He was projected to be a top-10 fantasy outfielder this season, but has been a grave disappointment so far.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 4/21, 9:16 PM CT
Carlos Beltran went 0-for-4 on Monday to drop his average to .222 for the Mets.

Our View: Beltran does have seven doubles on the year, but one home run and a batting average of a backup middle infielder mark him as a concern moving forward given his physical issues.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsFriday 4/18, 3:26 PM CT
Updating a previous report, Carlos Beltran tells the New York Daily News that he plans to play on Friday. "I feel a little bit better. It’s not great, but it’s not as bad as it was yesterday," the outfielder says of his stiff neck.

Our View: You don't have to be able to actually turn and see the pitcher in order to hit, do you? If so, Beltran could struggle against Cole Hamels on Friday.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsFriday 4/18, 9:16 AM CT
Carlos Beltran hopes to play on Friday night, one day after taking muscle-relaxing pills to help with a stiff neck, the New York Daily News reports.

Our View: Fantasy owners should expect Beltran to return, although he could have a tough night with Cole Hamels on the mound.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsThursday 4/17, 5:07 PM CT
Carlos Beltran will be out of tonight’s lineup due to a stiff neck, this according to MetsBlog.com.

Our View: If it isn't a left knee it's a right knee. If it isn't one of those, it seems to be something else. Tonight, it is a stiff neck. Beltran, who will have his 31 birthday in late April, has the wear and tear of a player in his late thirties.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsWednesday 4/9, 8:23 AM CT
Carlos Beltran currently leads the league in doubles with seven. He is hitting 8-for-22 overall, but is yet to hit his first home run.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 4/5, 6:45 PM CT

Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsWednesday 4/2, 11:00 PM CT
Carlos Beltran knocked three doubles on Wednesday giving him a whopping total of five two-baggers in just three games. Beltran scored twice in the game and it appears that the concerns surrounding his knees may have been slightly overblown as he has looked solid at the plate, and in the field, so far.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 3/31, 9:17 PM CT
Carlos Beltran was 2-for-5 in Monday's win over the Marlins. Beltran also scored a run. The Mets center fielder showed no signs of being limited from his offseason knee surgeries.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSaturday 3/22, 3:50 PM CT
The Mets' bats were quiet in the 5-2 Saturday loss to the Indians. Veteran center fielder Carlos Beltran hit a solo homer off Scott Elarton in the sixth for the only Mets highlight. Beltran hasn't lived up to his contract with the Mets following his postseason success with Houston a few years back, but his five-tool talent is still present and his draft day position speaks to that.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsThursday 3/13, 3:10 PM CT
The New York Daily News reported Thursday that center fielder Carlos Beltran gave a positive review of his first game in the field since surgery to clean out both knees. Beltran played four innings and went 1-for-2 with a walk and RBI single. As for his damaged and recovering knees? The report noted, "I got tired a little bit. It’s still the same. The left side is weaker than the right side," said Beltran. "I’m not ready to play nine innings right now." Expect Beltran to get out of the gate slow, and the Mets to have some offensive woes early on this April. But as the temps rise, and some of the aging veterans on the Mets squad warm, so will their statlines.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsMonday 3/10, 8:43 PM CT
Carlos Beltran played his first game since last season on Monday, though he only DH'd and didn't play in the field, this according to MLB.com. Beltran had surgery on both knees last October and the report stated that he felt "a little weird" and that he was still not pain free. With only about three weeks until the regular season begins we aren't exactly thrilled with Beltran's progress, but barring a setback he still figures to start in CF on opening day.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsTuesday 3/4, 5:07 PM CT
Carlos Beltran ran the bases on Tuesday but clearly was not running at full speed, according to the AP. "Right now, that’s the fastest I can go," he said. "If I can go straight, straight is fine. It’s just turning and stopping." Beltran had offseason surgery on both knees and said his left knee is bothering him more than his right. He still expects to be ready for opening day, but you'll want to keep a close on his status as the exhibition season rolls along.

The Mets' center fielder was hit by his new teammate during live batting practice on Sunday afternoon. Beltran told Newsday.com he would be fine, but the bruise was pretty nasty. Beltran, who is slowly recovering from offseason surgery on both knees, will not take part in today's (Monday) intrasquad scrimmage and seems to be a while away from playing games; most of the caution surrounding Beltran is due to his knee ailments.

Carlos Beltran said his achy left knee felt a little better Monday. The outfielder injured the knee last Friday but has been playing through it. "I feel better, but I still feel sore," Beltran said in the New York Post. "I can't control what's going to happen out there. If you have to jump for the ball, that's a reaction. I can't control that. What's going to happen after that? It's going to hurt, of course, like it hurt yesterday. I just feel like I want to be out there."

Carlos Beltran can swing left-handed, but he still doesn't feel good from the other side of the plate. He won't return until he can switch-hit without problems. "If they ask me how I feel, I’ll say: 'Well, from the left side I can swing. From the right side, I don’t feel good. I can’t swing,'" Beltran tells the New York Times. He is on the DL due to a strained left oblique and is eligible to return on Thursday.
