Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 1/26, 2:43 PM CT
Miguel Tejada's one-year, $6 million deal with the Orioles became official on Tuesday. Switching from shortstop to third base in 2010, he'll have the opportunity to earn more through incentives.

Our View: A little known fact is that Tejada's 199 hits were second in the National League last season. While his power continues to decline dramatically, and his age increase exponentially, he still has plenty of pop left, and playing in the hitter-friendly Camden Yards should only help him.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 1/23, 1:24 PM CT
Miguel Tejada's one-year deal with Baltimore is apparently worth $6 million, according to Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman.

Our View: The deal also reportedly includes some potential performance bonuses. Look for Tejada to be slotted somewhere between No. 5-7 in Baltimore's lineup and make for a viable later-round fantasy shortstop.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 1/23, 11:39 AM CT
The Orioles have signed Miguel Tejada to a one-year deal, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Terms of the deal have yet to surface, and Tejada also must pass a physical, but it looks like he'll indeed reunite with his former ball club; Tejada hit .311 with 102 home runs and 429 RBI from 2004-07 in Baltimore. Coming off a nice season with Houston where he hit .313 with 14 home runs and 86 RBI over 158 games, Tejada is still a fine addition to the Orioles' lineup. While his upside is limited, he should still draw decent fantasy interest as a low-risk shortstop.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesFriday 1/8, 11:44 AM CT
The A's have contacted Miguel Tejada's agent regarding their interest in signing the free agent shortstop, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: Tejada, who started his career in Oakland, is still a viable shortstop, both at the plate and in the field, and would surely bat somewhere near the top of the lineup if he landed with the A's. Stay tuned.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 1/6, 8:27 AM CT
Even in the wake of the mega-deal they just gave Matt Holliday, the Cardinals may still pursue free agent shortstop/third baseman Miguel Tejada, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View: But it's not likely, however. Tejada, age 35, would have to be very reasonable in his contract demands, and with Brendan Ryan entrenched at short in St. Louis, he would only be signed to play third. Unless his market just totally collapses, expect Tejada to be playing elsewhere in 2010.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 12/19, 12:02 AM CT
Miguel Tejada would like to land a more lucrative contract than the three-year, $18 million one Placido Polanco recently signed with the Phillies, according to Fox Sports.

Our View: Good luck with that, Miguel. With the shortsop market having recently dwindled to just Washington and Oakland, he is now believed to be ready to market himself as a third baseman. He should have plenty of suitors there, but not if he continues to ask for that kind of money.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 12/8, 8:27 PM CT
According to the Houston Chronicle, it appears more and more unlikely that Miguel Tejada will return to the Astros next season.

Our View: Tejada is looking for a long-tern deal and the Astros apparently aren't willing to offer one to the veteran shortstop. GM Ed Wade stated, "I'm not optimistic we'll be able to get something done with Miggy." The Cardinals appear to be the most interested team at this point.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 12/1, 3:22 PM CT
Miguel Tejada, who was not offered salary arbitration by the Astros on Tuesday, is drawing interest from the Cardinals, Giants, Rangers and Phillies, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.

Our View: Heyman also believes the Astros have some interest in retaining him. Even at age 35, Tejada still has plenty of pop left, and is coming off a season that saw him hit .314 with 14 home runs and 86 RBI.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 12/1, 3:01 PM CT
Miguel Tejada has not been offered salary arbitration for the 2010 season by the Astros, according to Alyson Footer of MLB.com.

Our View: Teams will now begin in earnest to try to sign him. The chances of him staying in Houston if offered arbitration were relatively high, and the club did not want to take the chance. He also would have cost any potential suitor a draft pick had he been offered arbitration then declined it, decreasing his signability by a great deal. Also not offered arbitration by the Astros were relievers LaTroy Hawkins and Doug Brocail, though the team is believed to have a separate deal on the table for Hawkins.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesMonday 11/30, 9:43 AM CT
The Boston Globe reports that as many as five teams are interested in the services of free agent shortstop Miguel Tejada.

Our View: The Cardinals, Giants, Orioles, Rangers and Mariners are all possibilities. Many of those clubs would likely move him to third base were they to sign him.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesMonday 10/5, 9:23 AM CT
Miguel Tejada finished the 2009 season one-hit shy of his first 200-hit campaign since 2006 in Baltimore.

Our View: His 199 hits were second in the National League to only Ryan Braun's 203. The 35-year-old Tejada finished the season batting .362 after September 1, rapping 42 hits in the process. It could be a determining factor in whether or not he comes back to Houston in 2010. He has expressed interest in returning. Wherever he ends up, it will almost surely be via a one-year deal.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesThursday 10/1, 9:42 PM CT
Miguel Tejada went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI on Thursday, as the Astros roughed up Cliff Lee and the Phillies for a 5-3 win.

Our View: The three RBI bring Tejada's season total to 85. While he is a shell of former power-hitting self, that's still decent production for a 35-year-old, and he will likely again be a solid fantasy shortstop in 2010.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesMonday 9/28, 10:02 PM CT
Miguel Tejada went 4-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored in tonight's 8-2 win at Philadelphia. All four of his knocks were singles.

Our View: Tejada extended his hitting streak to 15 games, and is batting .370 this month. He has now scored 79 runs for the season as well.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 9/26, 9:09 PM CT
Miguel Tejada went 4-for-4 with a homer and a pair of RBI in the Astros 10-4 loss to the Reds on Saturday.

Our View: Houston's shortstop is now hitting .308 on the season and is riding a 13-game hitting streak. He's hitting .345 in September with three homers and 12 RBI.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 9/22, 11:34 PM CT
Miguel Tejada was the Astros top performer on Tuesday. He went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI in the 11-2 loss to the Cardinals.

Our View: Tejada is riding a ten-game hitting streak, but he only has multiple hits in two of those games. Still he's poised to hit over .300 for the fifth time in his illustrious career.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 9/15, 11:51 AM CT
Free agent to be Miguel Tejada has said that he would like to return to Houston in 2010, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View: He also said he would be willing to play third base. In nearly two full seasons with the Astros, Tejada has hit .292 with 24 home runs and 140 RBI. The power numbers are certainly the kind he used to put up in one season, and he would have basically non-existent fantasy value as a third baseman. However, he is likely to keep his shortstop eligibility, and will be a mid to lower tier option there in 2010.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 9/12, 9:14 PM CT
Miguel Tejada untied a 2-2 game in the seventh inning with his 11th home run on Saturday night, as Houston beat Pittsburgh 4-2 at home.

Our View: Tejada's two RBI gives him 74 on the season. After driving in 100 runs six times in seven seasons, he is likely to knock in fewer than 90 for the third straight year.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 9/9, 9:49 PM CT
Miguel Tejada was the hero on Wednesday night, singling in two ninth inning runs, as the Astros rallied for a 2-1 win over Atlanta.

Our View: Despite his heroics on Wednesday night, Tejada is batting just .255 since the All-Star break after hitting .329 before it.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSunday 8/30, 1:07 PM CT
Miguel Tejada is not in the Astros' lineup on Sunday. Tejada will be replaced by Edwin Maysonet at shortstop in today's game.

Our View: The team said that Tejada would get a day off this weekend, so today is that day. He could use the day of rest, and the team also wants to give Maysonet a look in the lineup. Tejada should be back and well-rested for the team's next game.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 8/29, 7:49 AM CT
Miguel Tejada will get a day off during the Astros' three-game series against the Diamondbacks, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View: He only hit 1-for-11 in the three-game set against the Cardinals, and held an anemic .213 batting average in August heading into Friday. Skipper Cecil Cooper decided it is time for him to take a breather.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSunday 8/16, 12:26 PM CT
Miguel Tejada is not in the Astros' lineup for their Sunday afternoon game against the Brewers. He will be replaced by Jeff Keppinger at shortstop today.

Our View: Tejada needed a day off, as he is right in the middle of an 0-for-15 slump. Expect him to use today to recharge his batteries, and he should come out swinging in the team's next game.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 8/11, 10:32 PM CT
Miguel Tejada was 3-for-5 with three RBI on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough in the Astros' 11-inning game in Florida, as the Marlins prevailed 9-8.

Our View: The game was Tejada's second straight three-hit effort. He has just ten home runs this season, but is batting .323 and remains one of the top offensive shortstops in the National League.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 7/22, 9:38 PM CT
Miguel Tejada's single walked the Astros off on Wednesday, as Houston rallied to beat the Cardinals 4-3.

Our View: Tejada has hit just as well in the second half of the season as he did in the first half so far. Apparently if you keep doubting him, he'll keep delivering.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 7/21, 10:27 PM CT
Miguel Tejada went 2-for-3 with three RBI on Tuesday, and Houston mauled the Cardinals 11-6 at home.

Our View: Tejada added to his NL leading hits total on Tuesday night, and is having one of the best seasons of his career when you would least expect it. He could still be a candidate to sell high, however, as is it hard to envision the ageless (literally) shortstop keeping this up for the rest of the year.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesMonday 7/13, 9:19 AM CT
Miguel Tejada's 116 hits lead the National League at the All-Star break.

Our View: In the last two years, Tejada has been revealed to be older than he said he was, charged with lying to the U.S. Congress and named in the Mitchell Report. But instead of wilting, the apparently ageless shortstop has just kept on hitting, and is helping to keep the Astros in contention. He probably won't hit .329, like he is now, during the season's second half, but should remain an elite option at shortstop. He could also be someone to sell high, however.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesThursday 7/9, 7:41 PM CT
Miguel Tejada was productive in Thursday's 11-10 loss at Washington, as he went 3-for-6 with three RBI and a run scored. He had two doubles and a single.

Our View: Tejada has a hit in five straight games, with 11 hits and seven RBI over the span.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesFriday 6/26, 10:58 PM CT
Miguel Tejada led the Astros in tonight's 5-4 win over the Tigers at Minute Maid Park, as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. He hit a double and a single.

Our View: Tejada raised his team-leading batting average to .330, and ranks second with 41 RBI.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 6/23, 10:43 PM CT
Miguel Tejada raked three hits and drove in Houston's only run on Tuesday as the Astros were shut down by the Royals Zack Greinke and Joakim Soria.

Our View: Tejada also snapped a 2-for-19 slump in the process. The veteran shortstop is now batting .337 on the season and could be headed to his sixth All-Star game next month.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSunday 6/21, 4:08 PM CT
Miguel Tejada went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI in Sunday's 4-1 win at Minnesota.

Our View: Tejada continues to lead the Astros with a .331 batting average, but only has two hits over his last 19 at-bats. He has gone 16 straight games without a homer as well.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 6/16, 10:03 PM CT
Miguel Tejada collected career hits number 2,003 and 2,004 in the Astros 6-1 loss to the Rangers on Tuesday night.

Our View: Tejada improbably just keeps hitting and hitting in 2009. Keep him in your starting lineup for the foreseeable future.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesThursday 6/11, 11:49 AM CT
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the Cardinals have interest in shortstop Miguel Tejada.

Our View: Tejeda would fill many of the Cardinals needs, namely a live bat and infielder capable of playing multiple positions. He currently leads the National League in batting at .357.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 6/2, 11:21 PM CT
Miguel Tejada carried the Astros in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Colorado at Minute Maid Park, as he went 4-for-6 with three RBI. He hit a solo homer and three singles.

Our View: Tejada raised his NL-leading batting average to .362, and extended his hitting streak to 16 games. He has registered multiple hits 10 times over the span.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 5/30, 10:40 PM CT
Miguel Tejada was productive in Saturday's 7-4 loss at Pittsburgh, as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Both of his hits were doubles.

Our View: Tejada has a 13-game hitting streak, with 23 hits and eight RBI over the span. He was among the hottest hitters in May with a .375 batting average.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 5/26, 10:27 PM CT
Miguel Tejada was 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored in the Astros' 6-4 loss to the Reds on Tuesday.

Our View: Last week's NL Player of the Week, picked up right where he left off. Tejada is just banging out hits at a ridiculous pace and is quickly becoming one of the most dangerous fantasy shortstops this season. After a slow start he has yet to be contained in May.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 5/26, 2:53 PM CT
Miguel Tejada has been named the NL Player of the Week, according to the Sports Network. He collected four multi-hit games during the award-winning week, while racking up three homers, three doubles and four RBI. His six extra-base hits tied for the NL lead.

Our View: Teammate Hunter Pence was also nominated. Tejada is hitting .368 in May, with five homers and 22 RBI.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSunday 5/24, 7:55 PM CT
Miguel Tejada went 4-for-4 on Sunday, but despite his efforts the rest of the team didn't hit and the Atsros were shut out by the Rangers 5-0.

Our View: Tejada is now hitting .345 on the season with five homer and 25 RBI and has been red hot lately. He is dispelling the myths that his days as a strong fantasy shortstop are over.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 5/23, 7:22 PM CT
Miguel Tejada was 2-of-4 with his fifth home run of the year on Saturday against Texas.

Our View: Tejada now has three home runs in his past four games, a seven-game hitting streak in tact and nine multi-hit performances in 20 games this month. Continue to start him with confidence at shortstop.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 5/20, 11:56 PM CT
Miguel Tejada went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI in the Astros' 6-4 victory over the Brewers.

Our View: Tejada continues his hot start to the season, and he is returning to a very good fantasy option in all leagues. He may not be hitting for much power, but his average is at .323 on the year and he is still driving in runs.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 5/13, 11:13 PM CT
Miguel Tejada was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI in Wednesday's hitting-rich 15-11 win over the Rockies.

Our View: Tejada's power has fallen by the wayside, but he still has plenty of gas left in the tank. The former fantasy elite is hitting .319 this season with 19 RBI and is proving to doubters that he is still worth employing in a fantasy lineup.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSunday 5/10, 4:45 PM CT
Miguel Tejada went 3-for-5 with four RBI, a home run, and two runs scored as the Astros broke out the lumber with a 12-5 win over the Padres on Sunday.

Our View: Tejada has shown some signs of power this week with two doubles and two home runs in his last four games. His average is up to .313 and he is clearly still capable of being a capable fantasy shortstop. Don't expect the power streak to last very much longer.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesThursday 5/7, 11:23 PM CT
Miguel Tejada finally hit his first home run of the season on Thursday in the Astros' 8-5 loss to the Cubs. Tejada was 4-for-5 on the night with the homer, two doubles, and two RBI.

Our View: Tejada has been hitting the ball well, but it was good to see him finally go deep tonight. His swing looks strong, and hopefully the power numbers will start to come now that he has gotten on the board.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 5/5, 6:59 PM CT
Miguel Tejada was 3-for-6 with two doubles and three RBI in Tuesday's 10-10, 11-innings suspended contest against the Nationals.

Our View: Tejada now has eight doubles on the season and has a respectable .297 average, but has yet to go deep and has only driven in eight runs all season. He has also only walked four times all season and his meager OPS (.661 coming into Tuesday) is not what fantasy owners are used to.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 4/21, 11:31 PM CT
Miguel Tejada went 2-for-5 with a double, three RBI, and a run scored as the Astros beat the Dodgers 8-5 on Tuesday.

Our View: Tejada continues to hit well this April and his average currently stands at .364, but he had just one RBI prior to tonight. Jeff Keppinger's presence in the No. 8 spot in the order should spell more RBI opportunities in his future.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSunday 4/19, 5:53 PM CT
Miguel Tejada was 3-for-5 with an RBI as the Astros loss 4-2 on Sunday. He is now hitting .383 on the season.

Our View: Tejada has not displayed much pop this season, but he still appears to be efficient at getting on base. As the No. 2 hitter in Houston, he should score plenty of runs this season.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesMonday 4/13, 4:05 PM CT
Miguel Tejada was the lone bright spot in the Astros' lineup on Monday, going 2-for-4 with a double in the Astros' 7-0 loss to the Pirates.

Our View: Tejada accounted for half of the Astros' hits Monday while hitting out of the two hole, but it is tough to score runs when your 3-4-5 hitters are a combined 0-11.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesMonday 4/6, 9:04 PM CT
Miguel Tejada went 3-for-4 with two runs scored as the Astros fell to the Cubs 4-2 on Monday. He hit fifth in the Astros lineup.

Our View: Tejada went through a rough offseason, but is undoubtedly pleased to get back to playing baseball. His production has been in a steady decline over the past three seasons, but he should still be a decent backup shortstop for many fantasy owners.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesFriday 3/27, 4:08 PM CT
The suddenly older and recently sentenced Miguel Tejada had a nice game on Friday. He was 3-for-3 with a double, home run and two RBI in the Astros 6-5 win.

Our View: Tejada seems to have eeked his way out of trouble and having a fairly productive spring thus far. Now that we know he won't be in jail this season he instantly pops back up on the fantasy radar.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesThursday 3/26, 10:44 AM CT
Miguel Tejada was sentenced to one year of probation for misleading Congress when he was testifying about the use of performance-enhancing drugs in baseball, ESPN reports.

Our View: Tejada had previously plead guilty, and the prosecutor recommended probation, so this was the expected outcome of the case.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesThursday 3/26, 8:33 AM CT
Astros shortstop Miguel Tejada will be sentenced on Thursday for his guilty plea on charges of lying to Congress about the use of performance-enhancing drugs in baseball, according to Astros.com.

Our View: Probation has been recommended for Tejada by the prosecution, and he will also likely be fined. Fantasy owners should feel okay about taking him, at least in respect to not missing any time. As for his numbers, he's been on a downward trend, and there's no reason to think that won't continue.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesThursday 3/19, 5:34 PM CT
The Houston Chronicle reports that a federal prosecutor recommended probation as opposed to jail time for Miguel Tejada. Tejada lied to Congress about his use of PEDs four years ago.

Our View: Tejada benefits from having no criminal record and because he admitted to his lieing. It does not appear that he will be forced to miss any game action this season due to his legal affairs.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSunday 3/15, 5:33 PM CT
Miguel Tejada hit fifth in the Astros' lineup as they fell 3-2 to the Braves on Sunday. He was 2-for-3 with a run scored in the game.

Our View: He is now 5-for-13 this spring with two doubles and a home run. Tejada's value has been in steady decline over the past two seasons, but he shouldn't fall too much further in 2009. He remains in good shape and is one of the more durable players at his position.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 3/7, 2:06 PM CT
Miguel Tejada hit a solo home run in the Dominican Republic's 3-2 loss to the Netherlands on Saturday. He finished 1-for-4 while leaving seven baserunners stranded. He started at third base for the team.

Our View: Tejada's dinger just crept over the 325 sign out in right field. His numbers declined for the third straight season last year despite a move to power friendly Houston. The shortstop managed just 13 home runs in 632 at bats to go with a .314 OBP.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesThursday 3/5, 10:19 AM CT
The Baltimore Sun reports that former Orioles shortstop hasn't ruled out a return to his old team. "I always enjoyed to be the Orioles," Tejada said. "I'm a free agent this year. You never know. I might come back."

Our View: Tejada hit 102 home runs in Baltimore from 2004-07 but was traded last winter to Houston five players.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSunday 3/1, 7:09 PM CT
Miguel Tejada had a strong day for the Astros offensively on Sunday, but did commit an error in the field. He went 2-for-3 with a double and a solo home run.

Our View: Tejada certainly appears to be on the decline in his career after hitting just 13 home runs in 2008, which was his lowest total since 1998 with the A's when he appeared in just 105 games. Baseball is much more difficult without performance-enhancing drugs, isn't Mr. Tejada?
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesFriday 2/27, 10:13 AM CT
Miguel Tejada will represent the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic after previously stating he would skip the tournament, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He is expected to play shortstop, third base and possibly as a designated hitter, meaning he should see enough at-bats to get ready for the MLB season.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 2/25, 7:50 AM CT
Miguel Tejada will skip the World Baseball Classic, according to MLB.com. He won't be representing the Dominican Republic while stuck third on the depth chart at shortstop behind Jose Reyes and Hanley Ramirez.

Our View: Tejada could have played at another position, like first base, but he did not want to do that.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 2/17, 6:19 PM CT
Miguel Tejada apologized to his teammates at Astros camp for guilty plea for lying to Congress, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Tejada is not expected to see any jail time and will have to rebuild his relationships with the team and organization going forward. Tejada hit just 13 home runs and drove in 66 RBI last season; well off from his career numbers. He has averaged 25 home runs per year for the last eight seasons.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 2/11, 12:14 PM CT
Astros shortstop Miguel Tejada has entered a guilty plea for lying to Congress, according to the AP.

Our View: Tejada claimed he did not know anyone in baseball who used performance-enhancing drugs when he talked to House investigators in 2005, but evidence later came to light that that was not he case. His sentence is not expected to include jail time.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 2/10, 12:52 PM CT
Miguel Tejada has been charged with lying to congress about steroids, according to ESPN. He is slated to appear in court tomorrow and is expected to plead guilty.

Our View: A plea agreement has been reached with Tejada, and the shortstop or his attorney are yet to comment on the matter.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 12/31, 10:50 AM CT
MLB.com reports that Miguel Tejada plans on rejoining his Dominican Winter League team as early as Friday.

Our View: Just last month, Tejada stated that he would forgo participating in winter ball with his national team in favor of preparing for the 2009 MLB season.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 12/16, 1:02 PM CT
Miguel Tejada is under investigation by the FBI for possible perjury after stating to the US Attorney's Office he had not used steroids, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View: The Mitchell Report states that former teammate Adam Piatt provided checks signed by Tejada for what Piatt said was a steroid purchase. The investigation is ongoing.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 12/9, 8:06 PM CT
One GM told Yahoo Sports that the Astros are pushing Miguel Tejada hard.

Our View: The problem for Houston is that 13 home runs and 66 RBI in 158 games isn't worth nearly the $13 million that a team would have to pay Tejada.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesMonday 12/8, 7:08 PM CT
Along with their AL Central brethren in Minnesota, the Cleveland Indians are interested in Astros shortstop Miguel Tejada, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Our View: Of course, some things that may be difficult are the fact that the Indians already have a productive shortstop in Jhonny Peralta, and, of course, Tejada's $13 million salary.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesMonday 12/8, 4:23 PM CT
The Minnesota Twins and Houston Astros have spoken about shortstop Miguel Tejada, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Our View: The Astros have let it be known that they are willing to move Tejada, mostly because of his large salary. The Twins are in need of a shortstop, but Tejada's $13 million price tag may be too much for them.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesMonday 12/8, 11:17 AM CT
The Astros are still willing to deal Miguel Tejada, who is guaranteed $13 million in 2009, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Our View: The Giants, Angels, Twins, and Dodgers are among the clubs that could have interest in the elite shortstop.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSunday 11/16, 12:40 PM CT
The Astros are anxious to dump salary, and they would like to move Miguel Tejada or Jose Valverde, as well as Carlos Lee if he would waive his no-trade clause, the Boston Globe reports.

Our View: Tejada is aging not so gracefully, but there still should be interest in the shortstop around the league.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSunday 9/21, 4:34 PM CT
Miguel Tejada had three hits, two runs scored and one RBI for the Astros on Sunday in their victory over the Pirates.

Our View: Tejada, shockingly, has only 65 RBI on the year, and it's not like his 13 home runs are anything to write home about either. Tejada has walked only 23 times on the year leading to an OBP that doesn't even break the .320 barrier.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSunday 9/14, 9:51 PM CT
Miguel Tejada went 0-for-3 on Sunday night in the Carlos Zambrano no-hitter to lose his 12-game hitting streak.

Our View: Tejada hit .327 during the streak and is batting just .286 overall which would be his lowest mark since hitting .278 in 2003. Tejada is no longer a top option at the shortstop position.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 9/10, 10:42 PM CT
Miguel Tejada hit a grand slam in the sixth inning on Wednesday night that keyed the Astros 7-4 victory over the Pirates.

Our View: Tejada certainly hasn't been at his best since a hot start to the year, but he is still batting .287 with 62 RBI and 88 runs scored. After failing to hit 20 home runs for the first time in nine seasons last year, he is once again likely to fall short with just 13 this seeason. He can still be a useful fantasy player but he is no longer a top of the mountain option at shortstop.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesMonday 8/25, 8:48 PM CT
Miguel Tejada saw his modest six-game hitting streak come to an end as he went 0-for-4 in the Astros 9-1 beating at the hands of the Mets.

Our View: Tejada has put up decent numbers this season, but he has only hit 12 home runs on the season, and just two since June 20, which is a disappointment for fantasy owners hoping his power would increase playing in Houston.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 8/20, 7:37 AM CT
Miguel Tejada was displeased to ride the pine Tuesday, according to the Houston Chronicle. Manager Cecil Cooper gave him an unwanted day off and Tejada said, "What can I say? I can say I don’t feel like I need a day off. That’s what I can say. If I feel like I need a day off, then I’ll feel like I need a day off."

Our View: Tejada is only hitting .217 (5-for-23) over his last six games, with no RBI over the span. He only has one home run in the month of August as well.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 8/19, 7:33 PM CT
Astros manager Cecil Cooper went heavy on the left-handed hitters to face Brewers co-ace Ben Sheets and found that to be a perfect opportunity to give his shortstop Miguel Tejada a rest, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Cooper played Darin Erstad in left, Michael Bourn in center and Geoff Blum at shortstop. David Newhan started at second, while the red-hot Ty Wigginton moved back to his normal position at third after playing more than a week in left field.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 8/2, 12:29 PM CT
Not many hitters hold an advantage over Johan Santana, but Astros shortstop Miguel Tejada certainly does. When Houston plays the Mets tonight, Tejada will go into the game with a .333 batting average and .438 on-base percentage against the Cy Young Award winning lefty.

Our View: In 27 at-bats, Tejada has two home runs off Santana, and has walked five times. Tejada had a cool July, hitting under .260, but maybe he will begin a hot streak tonight with a few hits off Santana.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 7/29, 7:22 AM CT
Despite having zero chance at making the playoffs, the Astros are considering themselves buyers at the deadline, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal. They have had no discussions with Boston regarding Miguel Tejada, which refutes an earlier report from ESPN.

Our View: We didn't like this fit anyway, as Jed Lowrie and Alex Cora have played respectably while Julio Lugo has been sidelined.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesMonday 7/28, 7:15 PM CT
ESPN.com reports that the Boston Red Sox have talked to the Astros about acquiring shortstop Miguel Tejada. "I feel good in Houston, but I wouldn't be afraid to accept the challenge of playing in Boston," Tejada said during a telephone interview.

Our View: Tejada's value would go up considerably in Boston. He is known to play better in big games and the Red Sox have plenty of those ahead. He is hitting .281 with 10 home runs, 63 runs scored and 48 RBI this season.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 7/26, 9:56 PM CT
Miguel Tejada had a four hit night as the Astros fell to the Brewers 6-4. Tejada was 4-for-4 with four singles while scoring a run.

Our View: Tejada had been in a bit of a funk and was in danger of seeing his average drop below .270, so maybe this will lead to him breaking out.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSunday 7/20, 8:03 AM CT
Manager Cecil Cooper noted that Miguel Tejada will be given more time off in the second half of the season, according to the Houston Chronicle. Cooper said, "The first half we probably didn't monitor it as closely as we should have."

Our View: Tejada started 93 of the Astros' first 97 games at shortstop. He started off hot, but slumped a bit in June. More time off will keep him fresher, and likely more productive over the duration of the second half, which should benefit fantasy owners during their run at the playoffs.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesFriday 7/18, 9:47 PM CT
Shortstop Miguel Tejada went 3-for-4 with a double while scoring a run in the Astros 2-1 victory over the Cubs on Friday.

Our View: Tejada's night is good news for fantasy owners who were undoubtedly becoming impatient with his falling average. He was hitting just .159 in July, so these three hits may ignite him for the season's second half.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesThursday 7/10, 9:47 AM CT
Miguel Tejada only came into yesterday's game against Pittsburgh as a defensive replacement in the ninth inning as the team tries to get him some rest, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View: After a June in which he hit just .227, Tejada was batting only .129 in July. He is too talented for fantasy owners to waive, but if possible, sitting him down until the second half of the season seems like a good idea.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 7/1, 1:48 PM CT
Miguel Tejada was hitting .150 in the middle of June, but took a six-game hitting streak into July and wound up with a .227 average on the month.

Our View: Tejada should be fine, although his average has dropped from .345 on April 30 to .317 on May 31 to his current .291. He still remains a prominent fantasy player at the shortstop position.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesThursday 6/19, 9:22 PM CT
Miguel Tejada, hitting just .150 in the month of June, homered in Thursday's loss to his ex-mates. Houston has lost a franchise-record six straight interleague games and is 1-8 against American League teams this year.

Our View: The home run was Tejada's fourth in June and his 10th of the season.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesThursday 6/5, 9:24 PM CT
Miguel Tejada went 0-for-4 from the third hole in the Astros order on Thursday dropping his average down to .302.

Our View: Just 10 games ago Tejada was hitting .335, and he has been in a pretty good tailspin. His overall production is still right where you would expect it to be, other than his home run total (six) which is lagging.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSunday 5/18, 8:56 PM CT
Miguel Tejada had another three hits on Sunday while scoring two runs and knocking one in for the Astros.

Our View: Tejada hasn't hit a home run in 15 games, but how do you find fault with a shortstop who has 33 RBI, 34 runs and a .344 average?
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesThursday 5/15, 12:44 AM CT
Houston SS Miguel Tejada was the man of the hour for the Astros in their 6-3 win over San Francisco, going 3-for-5 at the plate including a 2-out single and two RBIs on the night.

Our View: Tejada has the batting average up to .345, though he has yet to go below .331 since the early weeks of April.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 5/13, 1:53 PM CT
Miguel Tejada was hit with pitches on both wrists over the weekend against the Dodgers, and commented on his ailment, according to CBSsports.com. Tejada said, "I feel like I'm in handcuffs. It's OK. I'm happy for God to not see that my wrist broke this time. I got hit pretty good a couple times already. I remember last year when I broke my hand, when I got hit the first one on Saturday I was nervous because I get a bad memory from last year."

Our View: It sounds like he will be fine, and should remain in your lineups. He is hitting .340 over 39 games, with five homers, 29 RBI, and 31 runs scored.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesThursday 5/8, 10:57 PM CT
Miguel Tejada had another two hits, along with two runs scored, as he continues to thrive in the third hole in the Astros order where he is batting .359 in 78 AB.

Our View: Tejada continues to drive the ball and there is every reason to believe last season's down turn in production was merely one of those seasons that most players have at some point. Miggy is back.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 5/3, 10:19 PM CT
Miguel Tejada went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run in Saturday's 6-2 win over Milwaukee.

Our View: Tejada is hitting .355 with 25 RBI and 24 runs scored over 31 games. He continues to fit in very well in Houston.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 5/3, 8:04 AM CT
Houston SS Miguel Tejada has suffered through some rough times of his own over recent seasons, but the veteran shortstop was so moved by a meeting with 8-year-old Jacob Scott, a young boy suffering from muscular dystrophy, that he promised the boy a home run, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Tejada made good on the promise on the sixth inning, hitting his fifth home run of the year and Houston's third consecutive home run of the inning. The Astros trailed 4-2 before Tejada's two-run homer off Carlos Villanueva, followed by a solo shots from Lance Berkman and Carlos Lee to leave the inning with a 6-4 lead. "I was so excited," said Tejada. "I know it's hard to tell someone you'll hit a home run and do it. But today when I went to lunch with this kid I wanted him to be happy. So I told him I'd do it." Tejada met the child during a visit with several Astros, all of whom were then hosted at the game as part of an effort with the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 4/29, 9:11 AM CT
Team-mate Lance Berkman was named the NL Player of the Week, but Miguel Tejada had a very strong week as well, according to the Houston Chronicle. Tejda hit .414 with one homer and seven RBI during the week, and Berkman commented, "Miggy is a big part of our success as a team and me personally. He creates a lot of opportunities for me by getting on base. He's a great hitter. It always helps being in there with Miggy and Carlos Lee."

Our View: Tejada has been fitting in great with his new team, as he is hitting .337 with four homers and 21 RBI over 27 games, with two stolen bases. The National League agrees with him as well.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 4/22, 10:45 PM CT
Houston SS Miguel Tejada went 4-for-5 at the plate for the second evening in a row, helping his Astros seal a convincing 7-11 win over the San Diego Padres. Tejada hit his seventh double of the year and drove in his 17th and 18th RBIs of the season.

Our View: Tejada hadn't had a four-hit games since August of 2006, and now he has two, a hopeful sign of better days ahead.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesMonday 4/21, 10:28 PM CT
Miguel Tejada continued his hot hitting going 4-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored from the third spot in the order for the Astros.

Our View: Tejada is up to .342 with 16 RBI, and no matter how old he is, he is flat out ripping the ball right now.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesThursday 4/17, 3:27 PM CT
Miguel Tejada went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored on Thursday, hours after a story broke that he had lied about his age.

Our View: Tejada is now batting .328 with 11 RBI as he continues to be one of the better hitting shortstops in baseball, even if he is two years older than he had previously stated (he is 33).
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesThursday 4/17, 12:58 PM CT
It turns out that the rumors are true, Miguel Tejada is older than he has always stated, this according to a report on the AP. Though currently listed as 31 years old, Tejada is actually 33, a fact that goes back to when he signed his first pro contract and said he was 17 when he was really 19. “I’m a poor kid that wanted to sign,” Tejada said. “I’m feeling free now. It’s something that I had in my mind.”

Our View: Kudos for Tejada clearing that up, but did he really have to wait 14 years? Maybe this helps to explain why his range on defense has diminished so greatly the past couple of seasons; he is older than we thought. Doesn't this guy have enough problems with PED's already? If he lied about his age, what else has he lied about?
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesFriday 4/11, 5:41 PM CT
Miguel Tejada will not be punished by major league baseball for his inclusion in the Mitchell Report, this according to the AP. The new agreement worked out says that no players mentioned in the report will be punished, but that doesn't speak to the possibility that Tejada could still face an FBI investigation. Tejada has eight RBI and two home runs in his first 10 games as an Astros and he should continue to be one of the best power-hitting shortstops in baseball.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesMonday 4/7, 8:44 PM CT
Miguel Tejada hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead the Astros to a 5-3 victory over the Cardinals. Tejada had two hits and two RBI on the night and seems to be settling into the fifth spot in the order quite nicely as he has started to hit NL pitching like he did for so many years in the AL.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesFriday 4/4, 3:59 PM CT
Miguel Tejada went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, one run, and one RBI in a win over the Cubs on Friday. He is 5-for-19 on the season and three of his hits have gone for extra bases. Unfortunately, Miggy doesn't have a homer yet, but we're not too worried.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 4/2, 9:35 AM CT
Miguel Tejada was aggressive on the bases on Monday, but was thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double, which was fine by Manager Cooper, this according to the Houston Chronicle. Cooper stated, "He should be aggressive, and I would never ever say don't be. That's the way you should play."
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 4/1, 9:40 AM CT
Miguel Tejada was solid in his debut with the Astros on Monday night, as he went 2-for-4. The Astros lost to San Diego 4-0, but he should be pleased with his initial performance.

Miguel Tejada arrived at Astros camp on Tuesday, refusing to talk about his alleged link to performance-enhancing drugs "I can't really talk about that," Tejada said in the AP. "It's not my position to talk about that. Right now, my mind is really focused on playing baseball." The shortstop is under federal investigation for lying to government authorities regarding steroid use. Even if any trial is delayed well into the season, you have to wonder if Tejada's his off-the-field issues will affect his on-the-field play.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 2/13, 9:41 AM CT
The Astros expect Miguel Tejada to arrive in camp on time despite concerns he could have faced trouble entering the United States because of his legal woes. "We're still optimistic he's going to be there on time," manager Ed Wade said in the Houston Chronicle. "I talked to one of his representatives (Tuesday), and we still believe that everything is on schedule." The FBI opened a preliminary investigation last month into whether Tejada lied when he told federal authorities he never took steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 1/15, 10:53 AM CT
The US Congress has asked the Justice Department to look into whether Miguel Tejada lied to committee staffers when questioned in connection to the Rafael Palmeiro perjury case in 2005. "Tejada told the committee that he never used illegal performance-enhancing drugs and that he had no knowledge of other players using or even talking about steroids," committee chairman Henry Waxman said in the AP. "Well, the Mitchell Report, however, directly contradicts key elements of Mr. Tejada's testimony." The Mitchell Report listed Tejada as having purchased HGH back in 2003.

However, the Cards are unwilling to part with outfield prospect Colby Rasmus, which may be a sticking point. That said, if the Cardinals deal Scott Rolen, it's expected they would step up their efforts to acquire Tejada to play third base. The Giants, Astros and Angels are also kicking tires on the slugger.

Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSunday 7/22, 7:04 AM CT
Miguel Tejada will have X-rays taken of his fractured left wrist on Tuesday. If they prove that the joint has healed significantly, Tejada should be cleared for batting practice, according to the Baltimore Sun. Tejada hopes to return to action on Friday; the shortstop is tough enough to do it, but it's really going to depend on getting medical clearance. Regardless, he's getting closer and closer to playing.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 7/18, 9:51 AM CT
Tuesday was apparently a great day for Orioles shortstop Miguel Tejada. He continued his recovery from fractured left wrist by taking grounders and working on his swing in the batting cage. The Baltimore Sun reports he then went into the clubhouse and announced, "I've never felt so happy in my life." Tejada said he felt no pain after his exercises and is targeting July 28 as a potential return date.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesWednesday 7/18, 7:10 AM CT
Miguel Tejada took the field on Tuesday for the first time since June 20, the next step in his rehab from a broken radius bone near the inside of his left wrist, the AP reports. Tejada took ground balls for 20 minutes, took 50 swings off a tee and played soft-toss in the Safeco Field batting cages. He said there is no pain in the wrist, but Tejada won't see any live pitching until after his next series of X-rays on July 24. "I've been working really hard with my body. The last 20 days I've been working with a trainer in Baltimore . . . and I feel really good," Tejada said. Manager Dave Trembley said Tejada likely will follow the lead of other players and have at least one minor league rehab game before rejoining the Orioles. Tejada believes that could be as early as next weekend, but Trembley said the next series of X-rays will determine Tejada's timetable.

Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesFriday 6/22, 6:46 PM CT
Miguel Tejada went on the 15-day disabled list Friday afternoon because of a non-displaced fracture in his left wrist, which was suffered on Wednesday. This trip to the DL ends a streak of 1,152 consecutive games played for Tejada, the fifth-longest such streak in league history. Chris Gomez and Freddie Bynum will both see time at shortstop while Tejada is out.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesFriday 6/22, 9:04 AM CT
Miguel Tejada has been diagnosed with a nondisplaced fracture in his left wrist, an injury that's expected to send him to the disabled list. "It's just a crack," Orioles Vice President Jim Duquette told the Baltimore Sun. "That means it will heal, but if you re-injure it and it becomes a fracture, then the only way to make it heal properly is to put a screw in it. That's certainly more complicated." Landing on the DL would mean that Tejada's streak of 1,152 consecutive games played would come to an end.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesThursday 6/21, 9:50 PM CT
Miguel Tejada got in a lone at-bat Thursday before being replaced by a pinch-runner. Interim manager Dave Trembley said he let Tejada get a trip to the plate out of respect for the shortstop's streak of 1,152 consecutive games played, according to the AP. Tejada was hit on his left wrist by a pitch Wednesday and obviously still was feeling the effects on Thursday. Whether he'll be in the mix Friday is up in the air at this point, so check back for updates on his status.

Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesMonday 5/21, 6:23 AM CT
If Miguel Tejada ever sits out a game, it will but up to him, not manager Sam Perlozzo. Perlozzo said Tejada, who has now played in 1,124 consecutive games, has earned the right to make the call, according to the Baltimore Sun. "To me, there is no use broaching that," Perlozzo said. "That's Miggy's call. When Miggy says that he wants to get the day off, he'll get the day off. He knows if he ever wants to DH sometime that he can try to get to me a day or two before so I can maneuver the lineup and work it out for him. That's what I told him I'd try to do." Tejada has only seven hits in his past 34 at-bats and has just one extra-base hit this month. However, he's hitting .305 on the season, and his iron-man approach is one of his greatest fantasy assets.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 4/28, 5:31 AM CT
Orioles manager Sam Perlozzo said he likely will use Miguel Tejada as the designated hitter at times this season to give the shortstop a break, but he has no intention of sitting Tejada out of a game, according to the Baltimore Sun. Tejada has now played in 1,103 straight contests.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesMonday 7/31, 1:33 PM CT
Miguel Tejada will not be traded, according to a report by FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal. The Astros, Angels and Rangers all made substantial offers for Tejada, but apparently the offers were not enough to entice the Orioles into moving their All-Star shortstop.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSunday 7/30, 8:51 AM CT
Efforts to deal Miguel Tejada have hit a snag after the shortstop said he had no desire to move to third base for a new team, according to the Baltimore Sun. The Angels, who have reportedly offered Ervin Santana and Triple-A shortstop Erick Aybar in exchange for Tejada (an offer that was turned down by the O's), would want to move Tejada to third, as would the Rangers and Dodgers, who are also interested. The front-runners in the Tejada sweepstakes may be Houston, who has reportedly offered a package centered around Morgan Ensberg and Adam Everett.
Miguel Tejada, 3B, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 7/29, 8:23 AM CT
The Orioles contend that they aren't shopping Miguel Tejada, but they are listening to offers and were apparently contacted by multiple teams Friday, according to the Baltimore Sun. Among the teams interested are the Dodgers, Angels, Astros, Tigers and Rangers. The O's reportedly would like a top-tier starter in return for Tejada.
