Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsTuesday 7/21, 2:12 PM CT
Emil Brown has been released by the New York Mets, according to the Twitter page of Bart Hubbuch, Mets' writer for the New York Post. Brown was playing for the team's Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo.

Our View: Brown was 1-for-5 in three games with the big club this season, but he spent most of his time in Buffalo. He has some experience at the major league level, but he is probably nothing more than organizations depth at this point in his career.

Emil Brown has cleared waivers and will report to Triple-A Buffalo Newsdayreports.

Our View: Brown went 1-for-5 in three games during his call up. He could be summoned again at some point because of his major league experience. He is not a viable fantasy option in any format.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsSunday 6/7, 7:13 AM CT
Emil Brown has been designated for assignment by the Mets, according to the Associated Press. The club activated Ryan Church from the DL as the corresponding move.

Our View: The 34-year-old vet did not see enough action to hold any fantasy value prior to his designation.

According to the New York Post, Emil Brown is in the starting lineup Saturday night against the Nationals. He will hit second and play right field.

Our View: Brown only has one at-bat since being called up from Triple-A. He is 0-for-1 on the season, but looks to get himself a batting average on Saturday night. He should be left off all fantasy rosters.

According to Metsblog.com, the Mets will call up outfielder Emil Brown and place Ramon Martinez on the DL.

Our View: The Mets have a stockpile of outfielders, but they have been using Daniel Murphy at first base in the absence of Carlos Delgado. Brown has been around the league since 1997, but he has rarely made much of an impact in fantasy formats. If he finds some regular playing time, which is probably not happening, he may be worth a look in NL-only leagues.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that the Padres have traded Emil Brown to the Mets for a player to be named. Brown will be assigned to Triple-A Buffalo upon his arrival.

Our View: No fantasy impact here, but if Brown does get called up at some point he may be worth a look in deeper NL-only leagues. He has a bit of pop in his bat, but the likelihood that he contributes to a fantasy team this year in slim.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsMonday 3/2, 5:39 PM CT
Emil Brown hit a three-run home run and finished Monday's 4-3 win over the Brewers 2-for-3.

Our View: Brown is on a minor-league deal and he is fighting for his spot on the team. He will have to play well this spring to make the Padres opening day roster, but he certainly has a shot.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsTuesday 2/17, 2:08 PM CT
The Padres have signed Emil Brown to a minor league deal, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The 34-year-old outfielder will be hard-pressed to make the Padres' opening day roster, and may only serve as organizational depth in the minors.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsThursday 8/28, 1:05 AM CT
Outfield Emil Brown was the king of the hill this evening, leading his A's to a 6-5 victory over the Angels. Brown went 2-for-5 at the plate, hitting his 13th homer of the season to card three RBIs and one run scored on the night.

Our View: Brown could use some positive charma going into the last weeks of the season. He's hitting just .242 this month with tonight's homer being jus this fourth of the month, totaling eight RBIs along the way.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsFriday 8/22, 12:16 AM CT
Emil Brown went 1-for-3 with a homerun, as he helped the Athletics beat the Mariners 2-0 Thursday night.

Our View: Brown has been heating up as of late, hitting safely in five straight games.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsSaturday 8/2, 9:31 PM CT
Emil Brown went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, and was the Athletics' only source of scoring in Saturday's 12-2 loss to Boston.

Our View: Brown has three homers and five RBI over his last seven games and remains a serviceable option in AL-only leagues.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsWednesday 7/23, 3:07 PM CT
Emil Brown went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Rays. He picked up a second RBI on a sacrifice fly.

Our View: Brown snapped a three-game hitless streak. He now has 49 RBI over 84 games, and remains worthy of lineups in AL-only leagues.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsThursday 7/10, 6:56 PM CT
Emil Brown hit a walk-off home run in the 11th inning on Thursday in the Athletics 3-2 victory over the Mariners.

Our View: Brown had 21 RBI in April, but since then his work has been highly ineffective at the plate, especially his .154 batting average in June. If Ryan Sweeney is placed on the DL with his injured pinkie Brown could pick up more work, though a .215 batting average against right handers could force him to continue to be platooned.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsSaturday 6/28, 12:05 AM CT
Emil Brown went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Friday's 4-1 victory over San Francisco.

Our View: Brown has 43 RBI over 68 games. He has struggled through a rough patch of the season, but is now seemingly back on track as he registered six RBI over his last four outings.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsTuesday 6/24, 11:48 PM CT
The Phillies and A's matched on the number of hits posted in tonight's interleague battle, but it was Oakland emerging with the 5-2 win powered by the bat of outfielder Emil Brown. Brown went 1-for-3 with his sixth homer of the season to total three RBIs and one run scored.

Our View: Brown has been struggling through a horrific stretch at the plate, going 4-for-25 in June coming into tonight. He had not homered since May 19th, so we hope this gets the slugger back into an optimistic state of mind.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsThursday 6/12, 8:59 AM CT
Emil Brown missed his second straight game on Wednesday due to illness, according to the SF Chronicle. It is unclear whether he has a stomach virus or food poisoning.

Our View: Brown racked up 37 RBI over 58 games, but is only hitting .194 over his past 25 contests. His playing time has taken a hit since Travis Buck returned from DL and rising star Carlos Gonzalez came up on May 30. His role could be reduced even more when Ryan Sweeney returns from DL on Friday. Manager Bob Geren said that most of Brown's work will come against left-handed pitchers.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsTuesday 5/6, 11:39 PM CT
Emil Brown remains the top producer in the A's lineup. He went 2-for-4 with an RBI against the Royals on Tuesday. Brown owns 28 RBI through 33 games.

Our View: Brown has bounced back from an awful 2007 season. We like what he's doing thus far, but fantasy owners shouldn't rely too heavily on him. Brown is 33 and working under a one-year contract, which means the A's might easily push him aside if their record sours as the season continues.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsFriday 5/2, 12:36 AM CT
Emil Brown continued his ultra impressive start to the season on Thursday night as he went 4-for-6 with two runs scored and his 26th RBI of the season.

Our View: With Jack Cust and Frank Thomas struggling to do much of anything on most nights, Brown has been a godsend for the A's with his potent RBI bat. There's no way Brown will keep up his 140 RBI pace, but there is nothing wrong with riding a hot bat while you can.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsTuesday 4/22, 11:58 PM CT
Emil Brown hit a two-run homer on Tuesday. It's his first long ball on American soil this season, as his previous shot came on March 26 in Japan.

Our View: Brown isn't a terribly exciting fantasy option, but he is a dependable bat who can fill out a bench in mixed leagues and definitely help in AL-only formats.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsFriday 4/18, 11:53 PM CT
Emil Brown went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI against his former Royals mates. Mike Sweeney, also a former Royal, had three hits and two runs scored as well.

Our View: A great night for these two who for one night showed the Royals that they shouldn't have given up on the duo.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsWednesday 3/26, 8:22 AM CT
Emil Brown slapped a three-run homer off Jon Lester in Wednesday's win over the Red Sox. It was Brown's only hit on the day, but he'll return to the States with four RBI through two games. It's a promising start for the former Royal.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsFriday 1/11, 9:24 PM CT
The A's signed Emil Brown to a one-year, $1.45 million deal Friday. Brown can also make up to an additional $1.5 million in performance bonuses. He hit .257 with six homers and a team-leading 62 RBI in 113 games last season with the Royals. The A's are loaded with left-handed hitters, so the right-handed hitting Brown should certainly get plenty of playing time against southpaws.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsWednesday 12/12, 2:06 PM CT
The Royals have non-tendered Emil Brown, ending his three-year stint with the club. Brown hit .257 with six homers and 62 RBI in 2007. He became expendable after the Royals signed Jose Guillen.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsThursday 5/24, 9:54 PM CT
Emil Brown was held out of Thursday's game due to a sore back. Manager Buddy Bell said Brown would be available off the bench if needed, according to the AP. Brown was just recently getting his game going, so hopefully this is just a short-term issue for him.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsTuesday 5/22, 8:42 AM CT
Emil Brown has started to produce now that he’s getting regular playing time. “I’m trying to get my timing back,” Brown told the Kansas City Star. “I’ve been in and out (of the lineup), and that’s slowed me down a little bit. I do as much extra hitting as I possibly can to be ready, but it’s still not the same thing. Game speed is how you get ready.” Brown is eight-for-29 with seven RBI while starting the last six games in the outfield.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsWednesday 3/28, 8:41 AM CT
Emil Brown will begin the year platooning in left field with Ross Gload, the Kansas City Star reports. Given that Brown is a right-handed hitter and on the short side of the platoon, this is a definite hit to his value, making Brown (for the moment) unusable in shallow mixed leagues.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsWednesday 1/17, 9:39 AM CT
Emil Brown and the Royals have avoided arbitration, according to the KC Star. He signed a one-year contract with the team on Tuesday, though terms of the deal were not released.
Emil Brown, RF, New York MetsFriday 7/21, 6:13 PM CT
Because of the injury to Reggie Sanders, Emil Brown will become the everyday rightfielder for the Royals. He will likely bat in the middle of the order.
