Erik Bedard, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/11, 11:47 PM CT
Left-hander Erik Bedard pitched a superb game in his last start against the Rangers at Safeco Field, surrendering six hits and two runs over seventh innings. It was his third straight quality start, but he has only one win to show for it. The Mariners' offense has produced one run for Bedard in the last 14 innings he has pitched. Right-handed hitters are batting .157 (13-for-83) against him.

Our View: Bedard and the M's travel to Texas on Monday for the start of a three-game series.
Manny Ramirez, LF, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 5/11, 11:46 PM CT
Boston Red Sox outfielder Manny Ramirez was held out of the starting lineup for Sunday's 9-8 loss against Minnesota due to a sore right hamstring. The Red Sox are batting .336 with 33 doubles, 16 home runs and 70 runs scored over their last 10 games. They have scored at least five runs in each of those games and have a record of 7-3 over that stretch.

Our View: But they have had trouble hitting with men in scoring position in this series. The Red Sox are a combined 9 for 40 (.225) with RISP in the three games. Getting ManRam healthy will help their cause.
Tim Wakefield, P, Boston Red SoxSunday 5/11, 11:08 PM CT
Tim Wakefield's knuckleball was everywhere on Sunday night, and the right-hander didn't look anything like the pitcher that was 7-3 with a 3.95 ERA in his career versus the Twins. Wakefield allowed seven runs (six earned) on seven hits in just 2.2 innings on Sunday, the earliest he's been knocked out of a start since June 20, 1997, at Detroit, when he lasted just 2.1 innings.

Our View: Wakefield twice lasted only two innings since, but one was a tuneup before the playoffs started on Sept. 28, 2003. The other was at Milwaukee on June 6, 2003, when he was hit by a pitch on the ankle in the third inning and taken out of the game.
Joe Nathan, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 5/11, 11:05 PM CT
Joe Nathan gave up two runs in the ninth, but won a showdown with pinch-hitter Manny Ramirez by getting him to ground out to shortstop with the tying run on second base to pick up his 12th save in as many chances.

Our View: It was Nathan's first appearance in a week, and the rust showed. The Twins fireman is 12-for-12 in save opportunities.
Josh Willingham, LF, Florida MarlinsSunday 5/11, 10:54 PM CT
Florida Marlins outfielder Josh Willingham (back) has had his rehab assignment postponed a few days. Willingham took live batting practice on Saturday and felt the effects on Sunday.

Our View: Willingham felt tightness in his lower back on Sunday morning following his Saturday drills, and has decided to be cautious before beginning his rehab work. Fantasy owners will want to keep the slugger reserved for another week.
Elijah Dukes, RF, Washington NationalsSunday 5/11, 10:49 PM CT
Nationals outfielder Elijah Dukes started in right field Sunday and went 0-for-4 in the seventh spot in the lineup.

Our View: The Sunday start was his first since opening day. Currently Dukes is considered the fourth outfielder in Washington.
Brandon Boggs, LF, Texas RangersSunday 5/11, 10:45 PM CT
Rookie outfielder Brandon Boggs is expected to start his 12th straight game in left field on Monday against Seattle. Boggs is 7-for-17 over his last five games, including falling a triple shy of the cycle on Friday.

Our View: On Sunday, Boggs drew a walk and scored in the third inning. His defense has saved runs for the Rangers too.
Ken Griffey Jr., RF, Chicago White SoxSunday 5/11, 10:40 PM CT
Ken Griffey Jr. remained stalled at 597 home runs in his bid to become the sixth player with 600.

Our View: He went 0-for-2 with two walks on Sunday in New York, and hasn't homered since April 23.
Steve Holm, C, San Francisco GiantsSunday 5/11, 10:20 PM CT
Giants catcher Steve Holm entered Sunday's game against the Phillies as a defensive replacement, then delivered a go-ahead two-run home run. It was his first major-league home run.

Our View: The backup catcher has now played in 15 games this year. Holm has four RBI and three runs scored on the year, offering owners in all formats little value.
Jose Vidro, DH, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/11, 10:11 PM CT
The Mariners designated hitter, Jose Vidro , didn't play Sunday against the White Sox because of back spasms.

Our View: He has missed five of the last six games due to the ailment.
Gookie Dawkins, SS, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/11, 9:54 PM CT
The White Sox signed infielder Gookie Dawkins to a minor league contract on Sunday.

Our View: Anyone who grew up with the name Gookie, has to be one tough Cookie,I mean Gookie.
Adam Greenberg, OF, Los Angeles AngelsSunday 5/11, 9:52 PM CT
The Angels signed outfielder Adam Greenberg to a minor league contract on Saturday night.

Our View: Greenberg hasn't been the same since being hit in the head by a pitch in his first ever major league at bat.
Josh Bard, C, San Diego PadresSunday 5/11, 9:47 PM CT
Josh Bard was held out of Sunday's game after receiving a cortisone injection in his surgically repaired right wrist.

Our View: The team considers their starting catcher day-to-day.
J.P. Howell, P, Tampa Bay RaysSunday 5/11, 8:49 PM CT
J.P. Howell pitched three scoreless innings in relief of starter Andy Sonnanstine to get his second win of the season as the Rays scored a 8-5 victory over the Angels.

Our View: Howell made his 11th appearance of the season. He has pitched 24 innings this year allowing 19 hits, walking nine and striking out 22.
J.J. Putz, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/11, 8:42 PM CT
J.J. Putz recorded his third save as the Mariners held on to beat the White Sox 6-3 on Sunday. Putz worked the ninth for his first save since April 22.

Our View: The Seattle closer walked Joe Crede with two outs before he struck out Nick Swisher. Putz is beginning to get his timing back after missing time on the disabled list.
Miguel Batista, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/11, 8:38 PM CT
Miguel Batista allowed three runs on 10 hits, walked three and struck out six on a season-high 115 pitches. Batista somehow hung on long enough to record his third win of the season.

Our View: Batista has been suffering from a foot injury that has nagged him since last year and once again the right-hander struggled with his command.
Gavin Floyd, P, Chicago White SoxSunday 5/11, 8:29 PM CT
Gavin Floyd, who has toyed with no-hitters and been one of the toughest pitchers to hit this season, allowed five runs on nine hits in only 3.2 innings of work Sunday in a loss to the Mariners.

Our View: Floyd entered with a major league-leading opponent batting average of .149. He carried a no-hitter into the ninth Tuesday against Minnesota and into the seventh April 12 against Detroit.
Chris Young, P, San Diego PadresSunday 5/11, 8:22 PM CT
Chris Young allowed one run on five hits, walked two and struck out seven as the Padres beat the Rockies 6-1 on Sunday.

Our View: Young much prefers to pitch in PETCO Park, but then who wouldn't. More than one major league hitter, including the current group that record half of their at-bats in the Padres home field, say it's difficult to drive the ball.
Khalil Greene, SS, San Diego PadresSunday 5/11, 8:16 PM CT
Khalil Greene homered against Colorado rookie Greg Reynolds in his major league debut, leading the Padres to a 6-1 victory on Sunday.

Our View: It was only the second home run of the season for Greene, who has struggled in the first six weeks. The Padres' shortstop has 14 RBI, seven runs scored and is hitting a puny .209 on the year.
Greg Reynolds, P, Colorado RockiesSunday 5/11, 8:11 PM CT
Greg Reynolds, who was the second pick overall in the 2006 draft, received hi major league debut on Sunday. The Rockies purchased his contract before the game, but he'd known since earlier in the week that he was coming up. Reynolds was removed after two innings of his start for Colorado Springs on Wednesday and his teammates congratulated him on his impending callup. The right-hander allowed four runs on six hits, walked two and struck out one in 5.2 innings of work.

Our View: Reynolds suffered the loss, and the Rockies dropped to 15-23 on the season.
Jose Valverde, P, Houston AstrosSunday 5/11, 8:06 PM CT
Jose Valverde saved his eighth game of the season as the Astros scored a 8-5 win and a three-game sweep over the Dodgers on Sunday afternoon.

Our View: Valverde only had to record one out to get the save. The Astros' closer has a 4.55 ERA and 1.32 WHIP on the season, and the right-hander has lost four times.
Hunter Pence, RF, Houston AstrosSunday 5/11, 7:43 PM CT
Astros' outfielder Hunter Pence continued his May onslaught by going 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Our View: Pence has 18 runs, 21 RBI, two stolen bases, four home runs and raised his batting average to .273 with today's three hit performance.
Shawn Chacon, P, Houston AstrosSunday 5/11, 7:35 PM CT
Shawn Chacon allowed two runs on seven hits, walked one and struck out three as the Astros swept the Dodgers in Los Angeles for the first time since 1992.

Our View: Chacon has been exceptional in his seven starts for Houston. The right-hander shouldn't be expected to keep up his early season pace. Chacon has struck out 35 in 51 innings, allowed 47 hits and walked 10. He has a 3.53 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP. All of these numbers are better than his career peripherals. Expect regression to set in soon.
Hiroki Kuroda, P, Los Angeles DodgersSunday 5/11, 7:29 PM CT
Hiroki Kuroda took a no-hitter into the seventh inning for the Los Angeles Dodgers before the Houston Astros broke out for seven hits and six runs in the eighth inning to pull out an 8-5 victory Sunday. Kuroda allowed a run and just one hit over 6.2 innings, struck out five, walked three and hit a batter in his eighth big league start.

Our View: The right-hander remained winless in his last seven starts since his Dodgers debut on April 4, when he allowed a run and three hits over seven innings in a 7-1 win at San Diego.
Brian Wilson, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 5/11, 7:22 PM CT
Brian Wilson saved his 11th game on Sunday. The hard-throwing right-hander allowed a hit and struck out one in the ninth inning preserving a 4-3 Giants win over the Phillies.

Our View: Wilson continues to get save opportunites. His 3.38 ERA is palatable but his 1.47 ERA, especially for a closer, is concerning. For now owners can't complain about his 11 saves in his first 17 appearances.
Jonathan Sanchez, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 5/11, 7:16 PM CT
Jonathan Sanchez allowed three runs on four hits, walked five and struck out only two as the Giants defeated the Phils 4-3 on Sunday.

Our View: Sanchez didn't factor in the decision. The right-hander was yanked after 4.1 innings of work. Sanchez threw 89 pitches, 47 for strikes. His five walks cost him a chance to throw the five-inning minimum required to earn a victory.
Adam Eaton, P, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 5/11, 7:06 PM CT
Adam Eaton allowed two runs on five hits, walked five and struck out four in Sunday's loss to the Giants.

Our View: Eaton didn't factor into the decision but the five walks elevated his pitch count to the point he couldn't continue after pitching five solid frames.
Bengie Molina, C, San Francisco GiantsSunday 5/11, 7:03 PM CT
Bengie Molina was 2-for-2 with two runs scored as the Giants defeated the Phillies 4-3 on Sunday afternoon.

Our View: Molina has 11 runs scored, 20 RBI and four home runs while hitting .282 on the year. The Giants catcher is a starting option at catcher in any format.
Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia PhilliesSunday 5/11, 7:01 PM CT
Jimmy Rollins went 0-for-5 in his third game back from a disabled list stint with a sprained left ankle. He had three hits Friday in his return, missing the cycle by a triple.

Our View: Rollins didn't miss a beat after spending over two weeks rehabbing an high ankle sprain. He is a must start in all formats this week.
Barry Zito, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 5/11, 6:57 PM CT
San Francisco left-hander Barry Zito (0-7) will try again for his first victory of the season Monday when the Giants face Astros ace Roy Oswalt in the opener of a four-game series with Houston.

Our View: Zito was effective in his first start on Wednesday after being sent to the bullpen. However, he was still the losing pitcher in a 3-1 defeat to the Pirates.
Kevin Correia, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 5/11, 6:50 PM CT
Giants starter Kevin Correia , nursing a strained muscle in his left side, hopes to be throwing off a mound again in about a week according to the AP.

Our View: Correia started five games before going on the disabled list, winning one and losing three. The right-hander has a 4.50 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 16 strikeouts in 26 innings of work.
Jack Taschner, P, San Francisco GiantsSunday 5/11, 6:48 PM CT
Jack Taschner pitched an effective seventh inning for his second win of the season as the Giants defeated the Phillies 4-3 on Sunday afternoon. Taschner allowed one hit and struck out one in the single frame of work.

Our View: Taschner has appeared in 20-games this season. The lefty sports a 3.86 ERA and 1.38 WHIP to go along with his two wins against no losses. Taschner has also struck out 14 in 14 innings of work on the year.
Orlando Hudson, 2B, Arizona DiamondbacksSunday 5/11, 5:55 PM CT
The Diamondbacks held out second baseman Orlando Hudson in Sunday's game against the Cubs, who was expected to miss his sixth straight game with a strained right hamstring.

Our View: His status for Tuesday's game against the Roks is questionable.
Sean Gallagher, P, Oakland AthleticsSunday 5/11, 5:54 PM CT
The Chicago Cubs and Arizona Diamondbacks held Carlos Zambrano and Randy Johnson out of Sunday's game because of heavy rain, strong winds and temperatures in the 40s in Chicago. Instead, the Cubs' Sean Gallagher started his first start of the season. The Cubs right-hander allowed four runs on five hits, walked three and struck out five in 4.1 innings of work.

Our View: Gallagher didn't factor into the decision, but did enough to help the Cubs to a three-game sweep of the Diamondbacks. Johnson, who had offseason back surgery, is 2-1 with a 5.06 ERA this season but has a 12-0 career record against the Cubs. Zambrano (5-1, 1.80 ERA) is off to one of his best starts but has struggled in four outings against Arizona, going 1-2 with a 4.88 ERA. Zambrano is scheduled to pitch Monday against San Diego, but the rotation is unclear beyond that.
Kerry Wood, P, Chicago CubsSunday 5/11, 5:46 PM CT
Kerry Wood pitched a perfect ninth inning on Sunday to earn his seventh save in 10 chances, and finish off Chicago's three-game sweep of NL West leading Arizona.

Our View: Wood has settled down after a rocky start. The former starter blew his first opportunity of the season and two in the first week of the regular season schedule.
Corey Hart, RF, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 5/11, 5:44 PM CT
Corey Hart recorded two hits and an RBI as the Brewers scored a 5-3 victory over the Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.

Our View: Hart, a preseason favorite on more than one sleeper list this spring, has only one home run on the season, 15 runs scored, 16 RBI, four stolen bases and he's hitting .299. The outfielders numbers aren't morbid, but they fall short of expectations.
Braden Looper, P, St. Louis CardinalsSunday 5/11, 5:40 PM CT
Braden Looper suffered his second loss of the season on Sunday when the Cardinals fell short in a 5-3 loss to the Brewers. Looper allowed four runs on seven hits, walked one and struck out one in six innings.

Our View: Looper kept the Cardinals in the game for the most part, but sloppy baserunning by St. Louis' All Star Albert Pujols all but cost Looper and the team any chance of victory on Sunday.
Albert Pujols, 1B, St. Louis CardinalsSunday 5/11, 5:35 PM CT
Albert Pujols walked twice and singled to extend his streak of reaching base safely in every game this season to 39, but it wasn't enough as the Cards lost to the Brewers 5-3 on Sunday.

Our View: It wasn't the best peformance by the Cardinals' slugger despite extending his streak. Pujols ran into three of St. Louis' four outs on the base paths when he was picked off in the first, caught trying to advance on a single in the third and doubled off second on a line drive out in the sixth.
Ryan Ludwick, RF, St. Louis CardinalsSunday 5/11, 5:08 PM CT
Ryan Ludwick struck out three times on Sunday but salvaged the day by hitting a solo homer off Brewers reliever David Riske in the eighth inning giving the Cardinals a two-run (4-2) lead, one they wouldn't relinquish eventually winning, 5-2.

Our View: Ludwick, who is the biggest individual surprise for the shocking Cardinals, now has eight home runs, 24 RBI and 21 runs scored and is hitting an terrific .347 on the season.
Brian Shouse, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 5/11, 4:56 PM CT
The Milwaukee Brewers' showcased their new closer by committee in a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. With Eric Gagne out as the closer, the Brewers turned to Salomon Torres and Brian Shouse in the ninth. Torres allowed a leadoff double and a walk before giving way to Shouse with two outs. Shouse, a left-handed specialist, gave up an RBI single to Yadier Molina before finishing for his first save and fifth of his career.

Our View: Torres figures to get more opportunities due to his previous closer experience but he is a hit and miss option for fantasy owners.
Jeff Suppan, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 5/11, 4:50 PM CT
Jeff Suppan allowed one run on six hits, walked five and struck out four to pick up the first win for a Milwaukee starter other than Ben Sheets since Manny Parra beat San Francisco on April 5.

Our View: Suppan was as good as he will be on Sunday, and the performance wasn't surprising considering he has a history of being effective against his old team.
Ryan Braun, LF, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 5/11, 4:46 PM CT
Ryan Braun hit a pair of solo home runs and the Brewers scored a 5-3 victory to secure their second win the of the three-game set over the Cardinals.

Our View: Braun recorded his sixth and seventh home runs of the season. The sophomore has 25 RBI, 16 runs and is hitting .281.
Andy Pettitte, P, New York YankeesSunday 5/11, 4:41 PM CT
The finale of the weekend series between the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers was postponed by rain on Sunday. A makeup date wasn't immediately announced. Yankees' starter Andy Pettitte is scheduled to pitch on Monday at Tampa Bay. Nate Robertson of the Tigers, has not been announced as Detroit's pitcher for Tuesday's contest at Kansas City.

Our View: There is a chance the Tigers will skip Robertson to keep their top three starters on regular rest.
Rich Harden, P, Chicago CubsSunday 5/11, 4:33 PM CT
Rich Harden, who returned from a month long stay on the disabled list, threw 87 pitches in his first start against the Rangers. The hard-throwing right-hander was far from impressive allowing five runs on eight hits, walked four and struck out five in 3.2 innings of work.

Our View: Harden was rusty despite receiving ample rehab innings. As long as Harden stays healthy he is a starting option in all formats.
A.J. Burnett, P, Toronto Blue JaysSunday 5/11, 4:26 PM CT
Postponed by rain on Sunday, the Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Indians are now scheduled to play the first traditional doubleheader at Progressive Field in more than 10 years. Right-handers A.J. Burnett of Toronto and Cleveland's Fausto Carmona, who were Sunday's scheduled starters, are set to pitch the first game Monday at 4:05 p.m. Indians left-hander Cliff Lee, off to an impressive start this season at 6-0 with a 0.81 ERA, will face Shaun Marcum in the nightcap that will start 30 minutes after the end of the opener.

Our View: The Indians have played only four traditional doubleheaders at home since their ballpark opened in 1994 and none since Aug. 13, 1997, against Detroit. In recent years, the Indians have rescheduled postponed games on open dates or as part of day-night doubleheaders. Burnett (3-3) will start on five days' rest, not the right-hander's favorite routine. He's 42-36 with a 3.43 ERA on normal rest and 30-33 with a 4.33 ERA in any other situation when starting.
Zach Duke, P, Pittsburgh PiratesSunday 5/11, 4:23 PM CT
The Atlanta Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates will play a doubleheader Monday after their game Sunday was postponed by rain.

Our View: The doubleheader will begin at 12:35 p.m. Jair Jurrjens will start the first game for Atlanta against #5501 Zach Duke# , and Pittsburgh's John Van Benschoten will face Tim Hudson in the nightcap. Duke and Jurrjens had been the scheduled starters Sunday.
Jarrod Washburn, P, Seattle MarinersSunday 5/11, 4:05 PM CT
Not content to cruise along with a 2-5 record and 5.68 ERA, Jarrod Washburn has added a split-finger fastball to his arsenal. "He doesn't have that out pitch, and has been working on a split," manager John McLaren tells MLB.com. "At this stage of his career, maybe [the splitter] can make a difference for him."

Our View: If this doesn't work, Washburn's next step may be the knuckleball. AL-only fantasy owners should hope this new pitch makes a difference.
Brian Burres, P, Baltimore OriolesSunday 5/11, 4:01 PM CT
Brian Burres lost his third decision in as many starts on Sunday. The southpaw allowed nine hits and four runs over six innings against the Royals. Burres walked two, struck out one, and mixed in a balk. The Orioles backed him with two hits and no runs.

Our View: We're still mildly impressed by Burres' work this year. He is only useful in AL-only leagues, but he has hung in there after a very rough finish in 2007.
Brian Bannister, P, Kansas City RoyalsSunday 5/11, 3:58 PM CT
Brian Bannister snapped out of his recent skid by tossing eight shutout innings against the Orioles on Sunday. He allowed two hits, walked two, and struck out five. Bannister improved to 4-4 with a 3.75 ERA. He earned a loss in each of his previous four starts.

Our View: You take the good, you take the bad, you take 'em both and there you have a decent fantasy pitcher in Brian Bannister. Fantasy owners got a little too excited about his hot start, and we anticipate a lot of ups and downs as the season progresses.
Angel Pagan, LF, New York MetsSunday 5/11, 3:53 PM CT
Angel Pagan made an appearance as a pinch-hitter on Sunday. It was his first activity since suffering a bruised labrum in his left shoulder on Sunday, the AP reports. Pagan struck out.

Our View: Pagan won't have much fantasy value as long as Carlos Beltran, Moises Alou, and Ryan Church are healthy.
Torii Hunter, CF, Los Angeles AngelsSunday 5/11, 3:51 PM CT
Torii Hunter went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI in Sunday's loss to the Rays. He was previously 2-for-17 during the road trip.

Our View: The Angels finally got on the board after being shutout the previous two nights. Hunter is hitting well this season, but he isn't getting much help. He remains a quality fantasy outfielder.
B.J. Upton, CF, Tampa Bay RaysSunday 5/11, 3:48 PM CT
B.J. Upton went 3-for-5 with three runs, an RBI, and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Angels.

Our View: Upton has cooled off a little bit since his ultra-hot stretch in mid-April, but a shoulder injury played into his slower stretch. It looks like he is putting the ailment behind him.
Ervin Santana, P, Los Angeles AngelsSunday 5/11, 3:45 PM CT
Ervin Santana didn't move to 7-0 on Sunday, and he was lucky not to take a loss. He allowed three runs in the first inning and left after serving up nine hits and five runs over 5.2 frames. Santana walked one, struck out seven, and took a no-decision.

Our View: Sunday was Santana's worst outing of the season, but fantasy owners can't be too mad. Considering the preseason expectations, Ervin can have a few shaky outings and still look like a star.
Carl Crawford, LF, Tampa Bay RaysSunday 5/11, 3:42 PM CT
Carl Crawford did a bit of everything on Sunday against the Angels. He went 3-for-5 with a homer, two runs, three RBI, and two steals.

Our View: Crawford's homer total and average are still a bit lower than where we'd like them to be, but he remains an all-around fantasy stud.
Oliver Perez, P, New York MetsSunday 5/11, 3:39 PM CT
Oliver Perez struck out eight Reds en route to his third victory of the season on Sunday. The southpaw allowed three hits and three runs and walked four over six innings. Perez also tossed a wild pitch and hit a batter. He had lost each of his previous three starts.

Our View: It wasn't the prettiest effort, but Oli got the job done. He had been all over the place in his previous three outings, and it's good to see him hone in, at least a little bit.
Adam Dunn, LF, Arizona DiamondbacksSunday 5/11, 3:37 PM CT
Adam Dunn went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts and an RBI against the Mets on Sunday. His average sunk to .214. The slugger has yet to finish a game this season with an average above .225.

Our View: Fantasy owners don't count on Dunn for a decent average, but his work this season has been especially frustrating. Adam has enough good history for us to stay patient.
Jose Reyes, SS, New York MetsSunday 5/11, 3:34 PM CT
Jose Reyes halted a mini-skid by going 3-for-5 with a double, two runs, and two steals against the Reds on Sunday. He came into the game 3-for-25 over the past even contests.

Our View: Reyes has had only one hot stretch this season, and even that time was just for one week. He is going to catch fire at some point.
Johnny Cueto, P, Cincinnati RedsSunday 5/11, 3:31 PM CT
Johnny Cueto couldn't handle the Mets on Sunday. The rookie right-hander allowed eight hits and six runs over 4.2 innings. Cueto walked three, struck out five, and served up two homers. He is now 2-4 with a 5.91 ERA.

Our View: The kid has brilliant stuff, but professional hitters know how to make adjustment. Cueto is currently trying to figure out his own countermeasures, and it hasn't been pretty lately.
Carlos Beltran, CF, New York MetsSunday 5/11, 3:29 PM CT
Carlos Beltran wrapped up a productive weekend by going 2-for-5 with a homer, double, two runs, and three RBI in a win over the Reds. The outfielder went 5-for-11 with eight RBI in the three-game set.

Our View: How quickly times change, huh? Beltran's numbers are still a bit low, but 21 RBI looks a lot better than 13, right? Keep on being patient, folks.
Luis Ayala, P, New York MetsSunday 5/11, 3:23 PM CT
Luis Ayala's tough May continued on Sunday. The reliever served up three hits and three runs over one inning against the Nationals. Ayala gave up two homers and took the loss. He has allowed nine runs in his last five appearances.

Our View: Ayala was solid earlier in the year, and the Nats can't afford to have him break down alongside Chad Cordero. This recent work is quite worrisome.
Jeremy Hermida, RF, Florida MarlinsSunday 5/11, 3:20 PM CT
Jeremy Hermida went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's win over the Nationals. The outfielder is hitting .341 (14-for-41) in May.

Our View: Hermida may be inspired by the $70 million deal the Marlins handed Hanley Ramirez on Saturday. Jeremy isn't in line to make nearly that much money, but he could ask for a decent chunk of change if he can stay healthy and continue to hit over .300.
Aaron Boone, 1B, Washington NationalsSunday 5/11, 3:16 PM CT
Aaron Boone tried to carry the Nats on Sunday against the Marlins. He went 3-for-4 with a triple, homer, one run, and two RBI.

Our View: Boone doesn't play that often, but he still has three homers this May. He may be worth adding as a bench guy in NL-only leagues.
Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida MarlinsSunday 5/11, 3:15 PM CT
One day after driving in five runs, Dan Uggla went 2-for-3 with a pair of solo homers and three runs on Sunday against the Nationals. Uggla is up to 11 homers and 27 RBI on the year.

Our View: Uggla is on fire this May. He's swatted seven long balls in the month, and we're only up to the 11th day. Fantasy owners often knock Uggla because of his sometimes rough batting averages, but the dude has as much pop as any other second sacker outside Chase Utley.
Dustin Moseley, P, Los Angeles AngelsSunday 5/11, 2:35 PM CT
Dustin Moseley will make a five-inning rehab start at High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Monday, MLB.com confirms. He is on the DL due to a strained right forearm and could return in the coming week.

Our View: Moseley is presumably headed back to the bullpen, where he'll work in long relief and be an emergency starter. That role doesn't equal much fantasy value.
Ben Zobrist, SS, Tampa Bay RaysSunday 5/11, 2:32 PM CT
Ben Zobrist could come off the DL on Monday, just hours after getting pins removed from his fractured left thumb, MLB.com reports. "The doctor told me I can play the same day," Zobrist says. "When they take the pins out, it's not going to take but an hour or two, and it won't feel any different than it did before." The shortstop has been rehabbing a High-A Vero Beach.

Our View: Zobrist will be behind Jason Bartlett at shortstop, and he'll also be able to serve as a backup at second and this base. His fantasy value is minimal.
John Lackey, P, Los Angeles AngelsSunday 5/11, 2:28 PM CT
John Lackey is scheduled to come off the DL and start for the Angels on Wednesday, May 14 against the White Sox, MLB.com confirms. He is on the DL due to a right triceps strain.

Our View: We figured that one more confirmation newsbreaker couldn't hurt. Lackey threw 88 pitches in his latest rehab stint, so he should be near full strength.
John Smoltz, P, Atlanta BravesSunday 5/11, 2:25 PM CT
John Smoltz played catch on Sunday, which was his first time throwing a baseball for two weeks. He is out due to a strained right shoulder. Smoltz made 25 throws from about 40 feet. "I know how it felt when it came out of my [hand], and it felt like I could pitch tomorrow," he tells MLB.com. The veteran is also realistic, adding, "I think (my return will be) some time in May. that's what I had in my mind when I went on the disabled list and I still want that to happen." Smoltz plans on making at least two rehab appearances before jumping back to the majors.

Our View: It's a step in the right direction, but it'll be tough to gauge Smoltz's timetable until he is throwing off a mound and ready for rehab. We have to see his shoulder react well. He is still planning on coming back as a reliever.
Justin Maxwell, CF, Washington NationalsSunday 5/11, 2:20 PM CT
Nationals general manager Jim Bowden mentioned outfielders Justin Maxwell and Mike Daniel as two prospects who could move up to the big leagues soon, MLB.com reports. Maxwell is hitting .233 with six homers, 22 RBI, 32 runs, and 10 steals at Double-A. Daniel is at .328 with three homers, 12 RBI, 16 runs, and seven steals.

Our View: At the least, Bowden's words suggest the club is just about done with Willie Harris, Rob Mackowiak, and/or Elijah Dukes. Wily Mo Pena hasn't brought much to the table in 2008, either. Maxwell looks like a future 20-20 (if not 30-30) guy and should have fantasy owners excited.
Yovani Gallardo, P, Milwaukee BrewersSunday 5/11, 2:15 PM CT
Yovani Gallardo will undergo surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn ACL in his right knee, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Our View: Gallardo's season is presumably over, and the Brewers now have two parts of their rotation (Chris Capuano) gone for the year. Yovani still has excellent value in keeper leagues.
Bryan Corey, P, San Diego PadresSunday 5/11, 2:10 PM CT
The Padres acquired Bryan Corey from the Red Sox on Sunday in exchange for a player to be named later or cash, the Ticker reports. The Red Sox designated Corey for assignment on April 30.

Our View: This news should not affect fantasy leagues.
