Wes Helms, 3B, Florida MarlinsMonday 6/1, 6:03 PM CT
Wes Helms is out for Monday's game against the Brewers while dealing with a viral infection, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View: Helms could be available to pinch-hit as soon as tomorrow. Helms is not a solid hitter and the Marlins and fantasy owners should manage fine without him.
Wes Helms, 3B, Florida MarlinsSaturday 5/30, 12:33 PM CT
Wes Helms will likely miss Saturday's game with flu-like symptoms, according to the Miami Herald. He may be available to pinch hit.

Our View: Helms has shown some life of late as the Marlins had been dealing with the Hanley Ramirez injury. Now that Ramirez is back, there's no need to consider Helms.
Wes Helms, 3B, Florida MarlinsMonday 5/25, 9:37 PM CT
Wes Helms came through huge for the Marlins in Monday's 5-3 win over Philadelphia. He finished 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs scored while starting at third base and hitting fifth.

Our View: Helms has not seen much action this season, but performances like this will get him more playing time in a Marlins infield that has seen some struggles. Until he sees more regular playing time he has no fantasy value.

MLB.com reports that the Marlins and third baseman Wes Helms agreed to terms on a two-year, $1.9 million contract. He joins Hanley Ramirez as the only two Marlins under multi-year deals.

Our View: The 32-year-old, batted .243 with five home runs and 31 RBIs in 132 games this past year. He projects to provide veteran leadership while being a spot player at either third base or first base and does not have much fantasy value as of now. With Jorge Cantu heading towards arbitration, Helms could find himself starting at third next season.

Wes Helms hit a three-run, pinch-hit homer and the Florida Marlins beat the Kansas City Royals 7-3 snapping a season-high four-game losing streak.

Our View: Helms has played in 34 games this year, but has only 71 at-bats. In those plate appearances Helms has 13 RBI, seven runs scored and is hitting .225.
Wes Helms, 3B, Florida MarlinsThursday 5/15, 8:34 PM CT
Wes Helms escaped serious injury when he was struck by a fastball just above his elbow on Wednesday, according to MLB.com. "It hurts," Helms said. "But I'm fine. It's not going to alter my swing."

Our View: With Mike Jacobs hurt, he hopes to return by the weekend, the team could certainly use the bat of Helms in it's lineup. Unless Jacobs is out long-term don't expect Helms to be much more than a corner infield play in NL Only leagues.

Wes Helms, 3B, Florida MarlinsMonday 3/10, 11:50 AM CT
Wes Helms has landed on the Dodgers radar as they hunt for a third baseman, according to the Philadelphia Enquirer. Helms was made expendable in Philadelphia following the addition of Pedro Feliz and he would jump at the chance to possibly start the season with the Dodgers.

With Pedro Feliz now in tow, the Phillies have too many third basemen on the roster. Since Greg Dobbs hits left-handed and can play multiple positions, he'll stick around, but the team could dangle Wes Helms in a trade and see if they find any takers, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. The Inquirer speculates that some teams that may be interested include the Marlins, Rays, Twins, Giants and A's.

Florida's search for Miguel Cabrera's replacement could lead them to a former Marlin. The Fish are talking to the Phillies about bringing Wes Helms back to South Beach to man the hot corner, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Helms hit .329 with 10 homers in 240 at-bats with the Marlins in 2006, but he batted only .246 with five bombs in 280 at-bats with Philly in '07.

The deal is worth about $5.5 million with a club option for a third year that would raise the package to $8.5 million. Helms, who hit .329 with 10 homers and 49 RBI in 240 at-bats last year, signed with the Phillies after receiving assurances that he would get a chance to play every day at third base.
