Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersThursday 9/24, 9:45 PM CT
Carlos Guillen had his second big night in a row on Thursday as the Tigers pulled one out against the Indians by a score of 6-5. Guillen went 3-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI in the win.

Our View: Guillen is 6-for-7 over the last two nights, and he has carried the offense over that time. The Tigers need all the help they can get in their race with the Twins, so a hot Guillen could be huge down the stretch.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersWednesday 9/23, 9:19 PM CT
Carlos Guillen had a big night in the Tigers' 11-3 win over the Indians at Progressive Field, as he went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. He hit a double and two homers, one off Justin Masterson and the other Mike Gosling.

Our View: Guillen ended an 11-game drought without a homer. He was only hitting .171 over 35 at-bats this month heading into tonight's game as well.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersTuesday 9/15, 10:13 PM CT
Carlos Guillen went 1-for-4 with a single and an RBI in Tuesday's 11-1 loss to the Royals at Comerica Park.

Our View: The Tigers only generated four hits, and Guillen was their lone source of scoring. Guillen ended a four-game slump without an RBI, and only had one hit over that span.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersMonday 8/31, 3:41 PM CT
Carlos Guillen pounded two homers and drove in four on Monday, but it wasn't nearly enough as the Tigers fell to the Rays 11-7. Guillen was 4-for-5 in the game with three runs scored as well.

Our View: Guillen has six homers this month, which is impressive considering he has eight on the season. He is starting to look healthy, and he looks like he could be a fantasy contributor for owners who are entering the playoffs.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersWednesday 8/19, 9:54 PM CT
Carlos Guillen went 1-for-4 with a solo homer off Ian Snell, and recorded the Tigers' lone RBI in tonight's 3-1 loss to the Mariners at Comerica Park.

Our View: Guillen is enjoying a power surge, as he launched three homers over his last seven games. Hopefully he will continue to hit well down the stretch for fantasy owners.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersWednesday 8/12, 9:45 PM CT
Carlos Guillen went 2-for-3 and homered off Josh Beckett in the Tigers' 8-2 loss on Wednesday.

Our View: Guillen played first in place of the injured Miguel Cabrera and put together a Cabrera-esque performance. The 2-for-3 day broke an 0-for-8 mini-slump and the homer was his first this month.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersMonday 8/10, 10:19 AM CT
According to MLB.com, Carlos Guillen could play some left field in the Tigers' upcoming series against the Red Sox in Boston. Guillen has served exclusively as the team's DH since returning from the DL on July 24.

Our View: Manager Jim Leyland would like Guillen to be available in the field, but his shoulder still isn't all that strong. The idea here is that Guillen could play left in Boston because of the short throw created by the Green Monster. Either way, Guillen should be in the lineup nearly every day.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersFriday 7/31, 11:33 PM CT
Carlos Guillen went 1-for-6 with a two-run homer off Kerry Wood in tonight's 6-5 loss to Cleveland. The battle lasted 13 innings.

Our View: Guillen has two homers and a .310 batting average over seven games in July since coming off the DL. This is encouraging heading into the new month.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersMonday 7/27, 12:11 PM CT
MLB.com is reporting that Carlos Guillen will likely serve as the Tigers' DH over the next three games due to the fact that the team will face three straight right-handed starters. Guillen is 5-for-12 since returning from the DL.

Our View: Guillen is limited to only hitting from one side of the plate, which is the reason why the pitcher determines if he is in the lineup. He has been hot since coming back to the team, so the matchups are obviously working. Guillen is a bit of an inconsistent fantasy player right now since he doesn't figure to play every day, but he might still be worth a look in AL-only leagues.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersSaturday 7/25, 6:47 PM CT
Carlos Guillen went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI on Saturday, including the game-winner in the tenth inning of the Tigers come from behind 4-3 win over the White Sox.

Our View: Since returning from injury, Guillen has five hits, a homer and three RBI in three games. He may be worth a look in fantasy formats if he continues to produce and regain his old form.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersFriday 7/24, 8:48 PM CT
Carlos Guillen went 2-for-3 with a single and a solo homer off Bartolo Colon in Friday's 4-3 win over the division rival White Sox at Comerica Park.

Our View: Guillen performed well while fresh off the DL, and is worth targeting if dangling on the waiver wire in AL-only leagues.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersFriday 7/24, 9:29 AM CT
According to the official Twitter page of the Detroit Tigers, the team has recalled Carlos Guillen from his rehab assignment in Triple-A and activated him from the DL. In a corresponding move, the team designated Josh Anderson for assignment.

Our View: Guillen has looked excellent in his time with the Triple-A club, and apparently the team feels confident enough in him that he only needed two rehab games in Toledo. He could be a nice addition to the Tigers' lineup for the rest of the season, and AL-only leaguers will definitely want to give him a look if he is available.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersFriday 7/24, 9:00 AM CT
Carlos Guillen pounded three hits in his second rehab game for Triple-A Toledo on Thursday, according to the Detroit Free Press. Guillen went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the Mud Hens' 18-1 win over Syracuse.

Our View: Guillen is now 4-for-7 in his two rehab games with the Triple-A squad, and Tigers' manager Jim Leyland has been receiving nothing but positive reports on his condition. Toledo has doubleheaders scheduled for Saturday and Sunday this weekend, so Guillen will probably remain with the team until at least early next week. If he keeps hitting, he should be a nice addition to the Tigers' lineup when he returns.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersThursday 7/23, 10:06 PM CT
Carlos Guillen's return to the Tigers' lineup remains uncertain, according to MLive.com.

Our View: Skipper Jim Leyland noted that Guillen's return depends on how he responds, and the club is taking his progress day-by-day. He has been recovering from right shoulder inflammation, and went 1-for-3 in his first rehab game Wednesday.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersTuesday 7/21, 2:32 PM CT
The Detroit News is reporting that Carlos Guillen has been recalled, but not activated, from his rehab assignment. This could mean that he has suffered a setback while playing in the minors.

Our View: Guillen was supposed to be in the lineup for the team's Triple-A affiliate on Monday, but he was not. The speculation is that Guillen has re-injured himself, but there has been no confirmation on that yet. We will keep you updated on his status when it becomes known.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersTuesday 7/14, 8:13 PM CT
Carlos Guillen went 0-for-3 in the first outing of his rehab assignment with Single-A Lakeland Monday, according to the Detroit News. He has been recovering from right shoulder inflammation.

Our View: Guillen could return to action with Detroit by the end of the month, barring a setback in his rehab. Keep him stashed in fantasy leagues.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersWednesday 7/8, 8:14 PM CT
According to MLB.com, Carlos Guillen is scheduled to start a minor league rehab this weekend.

Our View: Guillen could be back with the Tigers by the end of July assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks. He's been out for the pat two months with shoulder inflammation, but has been making significant progress. When healthy he's an effective fantasy player.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersMonday 7/6, 8:46 AM CT
According to MLB.com, Tigers' infielder Carlos Guillen is scheduled to return to the team on Monday and start taking batting practice at Comerica Park. Guillen is still recovering from inflammation in his right shoulder.

Our View: The Tigers are saying that Guillen has made significant progress over the past week or two, but it still looks like it will be sometime after the All-Star break before he is able to return. He has been a disappointment at the plate this season, and fantasy owners won't be rushing out to pick him up when he is activated.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersWednesday 7/1, 11:23 AM CT
MLive.com reports that Carlos Guillen hit off a tee on Monday and has been throwing from 90 feet in an attempt to return from shoulder woes.

Our View: Guillen is currently working with a physical therapist, but he is slated to move on from that and continue rehabilitation with the Tigers on July 6th. The team reports he is "doing much better" but he will not return to action until several weeks after the All Star break.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersTuesday 6/16, 10:39 AM CT
FoxSports.com is reporting that Carlos Guillen has set a deadline by which he will have surgery if his ailing shoulder is not feeling better. Guillen's agent, Peter Greenberg, said the deadline is sometime in July, thus allowing Guillen to make a full recovery by the beginning of the 2010 season.

Our View: Guillen is still rehabbing with a trainer in Miami, but it is starting to look like a real possibility that he could miss the rest of this season. We should know more about his status in the next month or so, but his fantasy value is non-existent while he is on the shelf.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersThursday 6/4, 8:53 AM CT
According to the Detroit Free Press, Tigers' manager Jim Leyland believes that "it's going to be awhile" before Carlos Guillen is able to return to the team. Guillen has been out with inflammation in his right shoulder, and no timetable has been set for his return.

Our View: While an MRI revealed no structural damage, Guillen is still a long way off. Leyland classified the injury as long term, so don't expect to see Guillen in the Tigers' lineup any time soon. Guillen owners should find a long term replacement if you haven't already.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersTuesday 5/26, 6:42 PM CT
Mlive.com is reporting that an MRI revealed no structural damage in Carlos Guillen's injured right shoulder. No timetable has been set for Guillen's return.

Our View: This is good news for Guillen, who was said to be doing pretty bad. With no structural damage, Guillen should be able to return sometime in the near future.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersTuesday 5/26, 9:17 AM CT
Carlos Guillen is slowly progressing from right shoulder inflammation, according to the Detroit News. He is not throwing or swinging and skipper Jim Leyland said, "I do not think he is doing too good."

Our View: He underwent an MRI on his shoulder Friday, and the Tigers are yet to disclose the results or update his status. Guillen has not played since May 4.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersMonday 5/25, 1:12 PM CT
Carlos Guillen underwent an MRI on his ailing right shoulder Friday, according to MLive.com. He is dealing with inflammation and the Tigers expect to get the results of the test tomorrow.

Our View: Guillen has not played since May 4, and was hitting poorly with a .200 average over 90 at-bats prior to going down. We will keep you posted when his status is updated.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersWednesday 5/20, 12:13 PM CT
Carlos Guillen is still dealing with inflammation in his right shoulder, according to the Detroit News. Guillen has improved but he said, "I have been throwing a little, but I can still feel it when I swing."

Our View: Guillen will not be activated from the DL when eligible today. He should remain on the shelf for a few more weeks.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersTuesday 5/5, 3:56 PM CT
The Tigers placed Carlos Guillen on the DL Tuesday with right shoulder inflammation, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Guillen has been plagued by an Achilles injury this year, and the shoulder ailment just recently flared up. With the way he's been hitting, it's likely a blessing in disguise for his owners that he has landed on the DL.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersTuesday 5/5, 10:09 AM CT
Carlos Guillen said after Monday's game that he's been fighting a sore left shoulder that has lingered for a few weeks, according to MLBlogs.com. "It's a little sore, tight," Guillen said. Guillen has also battled an Achilles injury, but he said that ailment is getting better.

Our View: Something is clearly wrong with Guillen, because he has looked lost at the plate. Jason Beck, the MLBlogs blogger, said it wouldn't be a surprise if the Tigers put Guillen on the DL if they think he needs to rest for a few days.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersWednesday 4/15, 10:45 AM CT
The Detroit Free Press reports that Carlos Guillen has not played in the outfield since he left Sunday's game with an Achilles tendon injury.

Our View: Guillen will still DH until he feels good enough to play the outfield, but there could be cause for concern if this get any worse. Keep any eye on how Guillen performs over the next few weeks.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersTuesday 4/7, 1:08 PM CT
Skipper Jim Leyland is going to use Carlos Guillen in the DH role several times throughout April, according to MLive.com.

Our View: Leyland wants to give Guillen's ailing hamstrings some rest, and noted that is the reason he let Sheffield go, who would have served as the regular DH.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersSaturday 4/4, 4:24 PM CT
Carlos Guillen went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Saturday's 8-4 win over Atlanta. That marked his first homer of the spring.

Our View: He is still worthy of a late-round pick for mixed leagues, but has not been solid in spring action with a .278 batting average and five RBI.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersTuesday 3/3, 7:29 PM CT
Carlos Guillen had two hits and scored two runs Tuesday as the Venezuela teams lost to the Tigers 7-5.

Our View: Guillen had a nice day at the plate versus his MLB team, collecting nearly a third of Venezuela's seven hits.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersThursday 2/26, 2:44 PM CT
Carlos Guillen had a tough day at the plate in Thursday's 2-1 loss to Washington, as he went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts, while leaving three men on base.

Our View: He has battled back and knee problems last season, and playing in the outfield will not favor him staying healthy, meaning he will be an unstable fantasy option.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersWednesday 2/25, 5:49 PM CT
The AP reports that Carlos Guillen started in left field and fielded both balls hit his way cleanly. Manager Jim Leyland says Guillen is comfortable in the outfield, despite making just six starts there in his career.

Our View: Guillen will also hold eligibility at first base and third base, but he no longer will be able to fill-in at shortstop where he would have the most value. He had both knee and back problems last season and you should temper your expectations.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersThursday 2/19, 2:14 PM CT
Carlos Guillen noted that he will only represent Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic if he can start in left field, according to the Detroit News. He said, "If I am not playing left field. I am coming back here (to Detroit)."

Our View: He is projected to start in left field with the Tigers and bat fifth in the order between Miguel Cabrera and Gary Sheffield. He will be in position to generate solid numbers, but should not be drafted too high due to his poor track record with durability.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersSunday 1/25, 9:01 AM CT
The Tigers expect former infielder Carlos Guillen to fare well in left field this season, according to the Detroit News. Fourth-year outfield coach Andy Van Slyke said, "Guillen is the best we have had since I have been here. I am a pretty harsh critic. so I would not be saying this if I did not believe it, but with his athleticism, I think Carlos will be an above average left fielder for us."

Our View: Guillen has had issues staying healthy, and a move to the outfield won't help, but he should still be a favorable late-round pick for mixed leagues. He could still qualify as a corner infielder as well, hence providing versatility to fantasy owners.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersFriday 1/2, 8:59 AM CT
Detroit's Carlos Guillen did not play with the team since late August because of a back injury, but he has returned to play winter ball in Venezuela, and hit .313 with two home runs in four games, according to the Detroit Free-Press.

Our View: Guillen will be the left fielder for the Tigers this year, and if healthy, is a more than viable fantasy option.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersMonday 9/29, 9:29 AM CT
Pitching coach Chuck Hernandez and bullpen coach Jeff Jones will both be fired following today's finale against the White Sox, according to Mlive.com. Manager Jim Leyland said, "It's just one of those unfortunate things, but you know somebody's going to pay. Next year, it will be me."

Our View: The Tigers suffered through a disappointing 2008 campaign as they hold a 74-87 record in the cellar of the AL Central. The pitching staff holds a 4.88 ERA, which ranks 12th in the AL. Both coaches should find work with another club.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersSunday 9/28, 6:18 PM CT
The AP reports that the Tigers plan to make Brandon Inge their everyday third baseman and to play Carlos Guillen in left field next season.

Our View: Guillen in left field? The former shortstop made two starts in left this season, 89 at third base and 24 at first. They may want to consider him more at DH. He's had 68 errors in 417 games spanning the last three seasons.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersSaturday 9/20, 9:04 AM CT
Tigers infielder Carlos Guillen will not play for the rest of the season, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Our View: Guillen has had lower back problems since late August and has not appeared in a game since that time. He ends a relatively disappointing season with just 10 home runs and 54 RBI.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersTuesday 9/16, 9:56 AM CT
Carlos Guillen could be shut down for the remainder of the season unless his lower back starts to improve, according to the Detroit News.

Our View: Guillen is suffering from lower back stiffness and has missed 18 games. He will need to begin running before he can begin playing, and he has not yet attempted to do that.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersWednesday 9/10, 1:46 PM CT
Tigers third baseman Carlos Guillen said his lower back felt better on Wednesday, but he is almost certain not to play on Friday, as some had speculated, according to Tigers.com.

Our View: Guillen is expected to return by the end of the season, but it is not yet clear when that might happen. He has had a decent season for fantasy owners, but not to the level of his previous years.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersTuesday 9/9, 9:48 AM CT
Carlos Guillen, who is recovering from a pinched nerve in his back, did some running and throwing during the weekend in Detroit and took swings Monday night, according to MLive.com.

Our View: Manager Jim Leyland was hoping he could be back in time for Friday night's game at U.S. Cellular Field with the White Sox.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersFriday 9/5, 12:26 PM CT
Carlos Guillen will miss the trip to Minnesota this weekend while dealing with a pinched nerve, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersTuesday 9/2, 8:12 PM CT
Carlos Guillen may not be able to return for the Tigers on the weekend as he continues to experience back pain, according to Tigers.com.

Our View: Guillen has not had a great year for fantasy owners, but he still has the ability to hit for some power. It is unknown when he will be able to go.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersTuesday 8/26, 7:46 PM CT
Carlos Guillen remains listed as day-to-day with lower back spasms that knocked him out of Monday's game. The way Guillen sounded about his injury on Tuesday afternoon, however, he could be out a while, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Asked how he was feeling, Guillen was not upbeat. His description of Monday's back spasms sounded similar to the back problems two weeks ago which turned out to be a pinched nerve and kept him out of action for three days. However, Guillen said, his back had felt pretty good over the weekend before flaring up on Monday. The discomfort, Guillen said, started in his back and went up and down his right leg. It included soreness in both of his hamstrings, and he felt a little numbness. The latter part could be a concern. Manager Jim Leyland said on Tuesday afternoon he had no clearer picture of how long Guillen will be out. However, he stuck by his thought process from Monday night that Guillen will at least miss a couple games to let his back settle down.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersMonday 8/25, 8:22 PM CT
Tigers infielder Carlos Guillen was suffering from back spasms and had to leave his team's game on Monday because of it, according to the AP.

Our View: Guillen is day-to-day with the injury, and Ryan Raburn took his spot at third base.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersSaturday 8/16, 10:57 PM CT
Carlos Guillen went 1-for-4 with a solo homer on Saturday night. The bigger news was that he was in the lineup after missing three games due to a sore lower back.

Our View: Fantasy owners can feel free to use Guillen in their lineups moving forward.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersWednesday 8/13, 7:49 PM CT
Tigers third baseman Carlos Guillen said an MRI exam he underwent on Tuesday night revealed a pinched nerve in his lower back and he will rest for the next two or three days before considering a return to the lineup, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Guillen, who has experienced back trouble twice in the last six days, reported numbing pain in his right lower back, right leg and right foot. He said he has trouble lifting his right leg, which hinders his ability to run and hit. A three-time All-Star, Guillen said he has felt the pain for about one week, but the pain just recently became unbearable. Ramon Santiago started at third in place of Guillen in Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays. Brandon Inge and Ryan Raburn represent other options Leyland could use while one of his team leaders recovers.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersSaturday 8/9, 4:27 PM CT
The lower back spasms that knocked Carlos Guillen from Friday night's game will keep the Tigers' third baseman out of the lineup for this evening's game against Oakland, according to MLive.com.

Our View: Tigers manager Jim Leyland said this afternoon that Guillen's back remains stiff. Ryan Raburn is penciled in at third base, with left fielder Marcus Thames taking Guillen's spot in the batting order, hitting third.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersFriday 8/8, 9:00 PM CT
Carlos Guillen was forced from the Tigers game on Friday night due to back spasms, according to the Miami Herald. He was replaced in the lineup by Ryan Raburn.

Our View: At this point we don't know the severity of the injury, but it's probably a safe bet that he will be on the bench on Saturday and possibly Sunday as well.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersSunday 7/20, 1:32 PM CT
Carlos Guillen has rejoined the Tigers Sunday but is available to only play in an emergency, according to MLive.com. He said his wife, Amelia, was in stable condition and expected to be released from the hospital Monday, after being admitted Tuesday for surgery to correct bleeding problems connected to the birth two weeks ago of their daughter, Camelia. Guillen added, "She's doing better. Tuesday morning, she woke up bleeding, and the doctor sent her to the hospital for surgery to stop the bleeding."

Our View: He is missing a fourth straight start, and it is unclear when he will return to the Tigers' lineup.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersThursday 7/17, 5:56 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Carlos Guillen will miss Friday's game against Baltimore. He returned to Detroit after Tuesday's All-Star Game to be with his wife while she deals with complications following the birth of their daughter last week.

Our View: It's unknown how much time Guillen will miss at this point, but it's possible he may miss the entire Baltimore series.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersThursday 7/3, 11:37 AM CT
Carlos Guillen is likely salivating over his match-up against Seattle starter Carlos Silva tonight. Guillen demolishes Silva to the tune of a .531 average over 32 at-bats. Eight of Guillen's 17 hits off the righty are for extra bases, and he has only struck out one time against him.

Our View: If you have Guillen out of your fantasy lineup, you couldn't ask for a better night to put him back in.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersThursday 6/26, 12:02 AM CT
Carlos Guillen had four hits on the night including the seventh home run of the season for the Tigers. DH Gary Sheffield also added four hits in the win including the game-winning hit in the ninth inning.

Our View: Guillen had gone 15-games without a home run, so it was nice to see the long blast on this evening. Still, with his versatility, he continues to be an effective offensive weapon even if his overall numbers are a bit down.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersSunday 6/1, 8:16 PM CT
Tigers' manager Jim Leyland continues to be creative with his starting lineups. Carlos Guillen started in left field for the first time in his career as a way for Leyland to get Brandon Inge, Guillen and Miguel Cabrera in the lineup together.

Our View: Guillen was 2-for-5 with an RBI in Sunday's win raising his average to .295 on the season.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersSunday 6/1, 10:47 AM CT
Carlos Guillen is moving again. The infielder is slated to start in left field on Sunday, the Detroit Free Press reports. Guillen has never played outfield in the pros. "This is how I can get (Guillen) in the lineup if I want to play (Brandon) Inge at third," manager Jim Leyland explains. Guillen will remain the regular third baseman.

Our View: Inge is excellent defensively, which is likely the reason Leyland wants to get him some looks at third base. Fantasy owners don't need to make any changes here. Guillen may simply add another eligible position to his fantasy resume.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersWednesday 5/28, 8:04 AM CT
Carlos Guillen served as DH on Tuesday because he wasn't able to play third base. "The decision is that he can hardly move," manager Jim Leyland tells the Detroit News. "He has hemorrhoids so bad he probably shouldn't have been out there. I don't know if he's going to have them lanced or not. I talked to him about whether he could even run, but he said he was all right. At third, though, he wouldn't have been able to get down (for ground balls)." The issue has been bothering the infielder for four or five days.

Our View: We don't believe Guillen is a DL candidate, but fantasy owners shouldn't be too surprised if he has to miss a game or two in the near future.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersSunday 5/25, 3:12 PM CT
Carlos Guillen went 3-for-4 and generated the Tigers' lone RBI on a home run in Sunday's 6-1 loss to Minnesota.

Our View: That was his fifth homer of the season, and he raised his average to .299, with 23 RBI.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersSunday 5/4, 9:05 PM CT
Manager Jim Leyland plans to shake up the Tigers lineup on Monday, although he hasn't given out any details. "Same pieces, but quite a bit different (in the order they hit)," Leyland tells the Detroit Free Press. "I think you’ll find it pretty drastic."

Our View: Curtis Granderson hitting third? Miguel Cabrera ninth? Marcus Thames in leadoff? What will happen? We can only wait and see, and we don't believe the moves will affect anyone's fantasy value much.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersSunday 4/27, 10:33 PM CT
Carlos Guillen (knee), who has been out of the starting lineup since Wednesday, was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Our View: The return of Guillen completes a batting order that has missed either Curtis Granderson, Placido Polanco or Gary Sheffield to one injury or another in April.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersSaturday 4/26, 11:37 AM CT
Carlos Guillen might return to the Tigers' lineup today, according to the Detroit Free Press. He is nursing a sore right knee.

Our View: Guillen has been one of the Tigers' most consistent offensive weapons, as he holds a .338 average over 72 at-bats. He could hardly walk on April 24, so this is good news that he may be able to return today.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersThursday 4/24, 12:40 PM CT
Carlos Guillen was a late scratch today against the Rangers, according to the Detroit News. Guillen fouled a ball hard off his right leg in Wednesday's 19-6 win over Texas, and he was still hurting Thursday. Manager Jim Leyland commented, " He can hardly walk."

Our View: Ryan Raburn replaced him in the lineup (at third base), and the severity of Gullen's ailment is yet to be reported. Guillen has been one of the Tigers' most consistent offensive weapons, as he holds a .338 average over 72 at-bats.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersWednesday 4/23, 10:13 PM CT
Detroit 1B Carlos Guillen thought he would be starting at third, then got to stay at his original position, and put it all in the rearview mirror to enjoy a wonderful evening at the plate. Guillen went 3-for-4 with one walk, hitting his his eighth double of the season with a sacrifice fly and a stolen base.

Our View: Guillen totaled five RBIs and one run scored on the evening, and somehow managed to still leave four runners on base.
Carlos Guillen, LF, Detroit TigersWednesday 4/23, 6:25 PM CT
With Miguel Cabrera moving from 3B to DH, instead of to first as originally planned, the Tigers have put Carlos Guillen back into his natural position at first, pushing Brandon Inge into the start at third, according to The Detroit News.
