Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsSaturday 10/3, 5:54 PM CT
Fernando Tatis led the Mets attack on Saturday with a 2-for-4, two-RBI performance in their 5-1 win over the Astros.

Our View: Tatis now has four consecutive two-hit games and has multiple hits in five of his last six contests. He's been a nice super utility guy for the Mets in their injury-riddled season, clubbing eight homers and driving in 48.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsMonday 9/28, 9:06 PM CT
Fernando Tatis went 2-for-4 with an RBI in tonight's 2-1 loss at Washington. He hit a single and a double.

Our View: The Mets only had seven hits, and Tatis was their lone source of scoring. Tatis has a hit in three straight games, and is batting .333 in September.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsSaturday 9/26, 11:28 PM CT
Fernando Tatis went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Saturday's 9-6 loss to the Marlins.

Our View: The Mets super utility player has been good the last two months, hitting .310 in August and .317 in September. Not bad for someone who gets erratic playing time. Still, for that reason, he's not a very good fantasy option.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsSunday 9/13, 9:06 PM CT
Fernando Tatis exited Sunday's game against the Phillies due to a sprained left index finger.

Our View: Jeremy Reed replaced Tatis in left field and the Mets utility man is considered day-to-day. Still, the way injuries have plagued New York this season, you never know what to expect.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsFriday 8/28, 4:15 PM CT
Fernando Tatis doubled in what the Mets thought was the go ahead run in the eighth inning on Friday, only to see the Cubs score four of their own in the bottom of the inning for a 5-2 win at Wrigley Field.

Our View: Tatis is batting .260 this season, but isn't anyone's idea of a legitimate number five hitter. That's what he will be, however, as the Mets play out of the string this season.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsWednesday 8/26, 9:01 PM CT
Fernando Tatis went 3-for-4 with an RBI on Wednesday, but the injury ravaged Mets couldn't overcome the Marlins, losing 5-3 in Miami.

Our View: Tatis' continued presence in the starting lineup is a testament to the Mets' miserable 2009 season like few things are, but the the 34-year-old utilityman has managed to hit .253 in 95 games for the Amazins this year.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsWednesday 8/12, 6:48 PM CT
Fernando Tatis led the Mets in their 6-4 win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, as the ageless infielder went 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Our View: Even if you win, it's never a good sign to be led by Fernando Tatis, and the Amazins will be in trouble if he's still propelling them to victory in 2010.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsMonday 8/10, 11:39 PM CT
Fernando Tatis went 1-for-4 with a triple and two RBI in tonight's 7-4 loss at Arizona.

Our View: Tatis performed well tonight, but is only hitting .235 over 17 at-bats this month. He will likely see less action when Gary Sheffield is ready to return from his hamstring injury.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsFriday 8/7, 12:08 AM CT
The Mets scored three runs on Thursday, but Fernando Tatis got the only RBI. Alex Cora scored on an error in the sixth, while Daniel Murphy "knocked" in a run on a double-play in the same inning. The Amazins lost 8-3 in San Diego.

Our View: It's probably never a good night when Fernando Tatis is the bright spot, and he has been the bright spot far too often for the Mets in '09. A .245 average and 26 RBI usually relegate a player to pinch-hitting duties, but in New York they just call him their starting left-fielder.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsMonday 7/27, 9:27 PM CT
Fernando Tatis went 1-for-1 with a grand slam off Franklin Morales in tonight's 7-3 win over the Rockies at Citi Field.

Our View: Tatis entered the game as a pinch-hitter, and now has three homers in July. The 34-year-old vet does not see enough action to be useful in fantasy leagues.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsThursday 7/2, 4:52 PM CT
The ageless Fernando Tatis had a huge day in the Mets' extra inning win on Thursday, going 3-for-4 with four runs scored, two RBIs and a home run.

Our View: It was his first home run since May 13. Tatis' comeback is a great story, but he isn't worth of a roster spot in any format.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsSaturday 5/16, 1:10 PM CT
According to Newsday, Fernando Tatis is in the lineup as the Mets' starting first baseman on Saturday. He is slotted in the sixth spot in the order.

Our View: With Randy Johnson on the mound the Mets are packing the lineup full of righties. Still, expect Tatis to get a fair amount of starts at first with Carlos Delgado on the DL for an undetermined amount of time.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsWednesday 5/13, 4:20 PM CT
Fernando Tatis made a big impact filling in for Carlos Delgado on Tuesday. He was 3-for-5 with a grand slam in the Mets' 12-inning 8-7 loss to the Braves.

Our View: Tatis is decent fantasy fill-in for Delgado owners or for a team in need of a short term impact bat. In limited time this season he has two homers eight RBI and a .358 average. Plus he's Mr. Grand Slam.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsMonday 5/11, 5:23 PM CT
Fernando Tatis will start at first base for the Mets for at least the next few games as Carlos Delgado sits and recovers from a sore right hip, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Tatis is hitting .341 on the season and has three multi-hit games in his last five starts. He'll be a fine option in NL-only lineups whenever he's set to get at-bats, and it looks like he will for at least the next several games.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsSaturday 5/9, 10:19 AM CT
Fernando Tatis will start in left field today against the Pirates at Citi Field, according to MetsBlog.com.

Our View: Daniel Murphy will not be in the lineup, and Gary Sheffield will roam in right field. Tatis is hitting .313 over 32 at-bats with one homer and two stolen bases, and is worth a look for deeper NL-only leagues if you have him on your roster.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsWednesday 4/29, 3:39 PM CT
Fernando Tatis went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and a steal in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Marlins. His home run was upheld after an official review.

Our View: Tatis has been handling first base with Carlos Delgado (hip) out, and he could continue to see regular work if Delgado's injury doesn't improve. Usually, though, Tatis is just a backup without much value.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsWednesday 4/29, 10:10 AM CT
As expected, Fernando Tatis will start at first base again on Wednesday, according to MetsBlog.com. Carlos Delgado remains out due to a sore right hip.

Our View: Tatis is 2-for-7 over the last two days against the Marlins, but he is not a good fantasy play against Josh Johnson.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsTuesday 3/24, 3:49 PM CT
Fernando Tatis went 1-for-3 with a double in Tuesday's 8-0 loss to Houston.

Our View: That marked his third double of the Grapefruit League, and he is hitting .385. Tatis should see enough at-bats in a platoon role in the outfield to be useful for NL-only leagues. He has some pop in his bat as he hit 11 homers over 273 at-bats in 2008.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsWednesday 3/18, 4:45 PM CT
Fernando Tatis was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and two walks on Wednesday. He got the start at third base and is hitting .400 this spring.

Our View: Tatis has little fantasy value as a role player, but he is at the top of the Mets' depth chart and should anyone go down, he would assume regular playing time.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsSaturday 3/14, 5:32 PM CT
Fernando Tatis was 3-for-4 with an RBI while playing nine innings at first base in the Mets 6-2 loss to the Nationals on Saturday.

Our View: Tatis will likely accept another reserve role this season, but he will be the first player inserted into the lineup if an injury strikes. He provides some nice versatility off of the bench, with good pop in his bat.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsThursday 3/5, 4:43 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, Fernando Tatis has decided to accept the Dominican Republic's offer to replace Alex Rodriguez on their roster for the World Baseball Classic, according to Newsday.

Our View: Tatis had a bounce back year for the Mets in 2008, hitting 11 home runs in 273 at-bats. He began his career as a third baseman, but it's unclear at this time what his role will be in the Classic.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsThursday 3/5, 2:02 PM CT
Newsday reports that Fernando Tatis has been targeted to replace A-Rod on the Dominican Republic's WBC roster. Tatis is uncertain whether he will accept and seemed surprised with how quickly the situation materialized.

Our View: The WBC would be a nice place to get noticed but Tatis likely needs to stay close to the Mets if he wants to win significant playing time. Tatis is purely a platoon/depth player unless one of the Mets' starters go down with an injury.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsWednesday 3/4, 4:13 PM CT
Fernando Tatis was 1-for-3 with a solo home run in the Mets 6-4 loss to Washington on Wednesday. It was his first home run of the season.

Our View: The 34-year-old will battle for starts in a corner outfield spot, but he will not likely play everyday unless the Mets suffer an injury. He had been out of majors for two years before coming back in 2008 but he proved that there is still plenty of life in his bat.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsThursday 2/26, 12:19 PM CT
Fernando Tatis is expected to play Friday, according to the NY Daily News. He is nursing a hand injury.

Our View: Tatis has some pop in his bat and he knows how to get on base as he held a .369 OBP in 2008, but his fantasy value will be limited as a reserve outfielder.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsTuesday 2/24, 8:35 PM CT
Outfielder Fernando Tatis has no idea how he injured his right hand, but manager Jerry Manuel seems to think it occurred as the result of Tatis performing "the drill," a new workout Manuel designed that requires a player to take 80 consecutive swings with a bat without stopping, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Tatis said the pain was severe enough that he couldn't grip a bat the next day. And even though Manuel contends his outfielder should be able to go, Tatis said he intends to sit out the Mets' opening exhibition game on Wednesday.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsFriday 10/31, 7:00 AM CT
Fernando Tatis has agreed to a one-year deal with the Mets worth $1.7 million, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: The 33-year-old outfielder hit .297 with 11 homers over 92 games with the Mets in 2008, and will provide favorable depth in 2009.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsThursday 10/23, 6:50 PM CT
MLB.com reports that Fernando Tatis is fully recovered from the right shoulder separation he suffered September 16 and is playing for the Estrellas team in the Dominican Winter League. Tatis has six RBIs and a .500 average in 18 at-bats and is playing third base.

Our View: Earlier in the day it was announced that Tatis was given the 2008 Players Choice Award for Comeback Player of the National League. It still may be a stretch to assume he will be an everyday starter next season. In 92 games this year, Tatis hit .297, with 11 home runs and 47 RBI.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsThursday 10/23, 11:59 AM CT
Fernando Tatis was given the 2008 Players Choice Award for Comeback Player of the National League, according to Newsday.com.

Our View: Tatis hit .297, with 11 home runs and 47 RBI, before going down with a separated right shoulder in mid-September.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsFriday 10/17, 7:30 PM CT
Fernando Tatis is one of three finalists for the NL Comeback Player of the Year award, according to the NY Post. The other finalists are Jorge Cantu and Kerry Wood.

Our View: Tatis hit .297-11-47 in just 273 AB this season and certainly did come back from the dead this season having had all of 56 major league at-bats from 2004-2007. If this is an award for a guy who came back from the dead, Tatis should be the victor.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsWednesday 9/17, 8:00 PM CT
Fernando Tatis' injured shoulder is maybe not as bad as first expected. Tatis is said to have a Grade 3 separation of his right shoulder. With this news the Mets doctors are going to hold off on surgery and Tatis might be able to resume baseball activities in two or three weeks, according to the New York Post.

Our View: Even though the Tatis will not have surgery right away, it will be a surprise if he comes back in 2008.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsTuesday 9/16, 7:33 PM CT
Fernando Tatis left Tuesday's game in the fifth inning with a separated right shoulder, according to SportsTicker. Nick Evans replaced Tatis in the lineup.

Our View: What a tough break for Tatis, who is a Comeback Player of the Year candidate. His season is undoubtedly over.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsWednesday 8/13, 9:07 PM CT
Fernando Tatis hit a home run in a 2-for-5 effort, helping lead the Mets to an easy 12-0 victory over Washington.

Our View: Tatis' surprising season continues, and he remains a solid option in fantasy leagues.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsTuesday 8/5, 9:33 PM CT
The Mets needed all they could get out of the six total hits they posted on the night, turning those hits into six runs for the 6-5 win over the Padres. The man of the hour was outfielder Fernando Tatis , going 2-for-4 at the plate with two homers, his eighth and ninth on the year, to total four RBIs and two runs scored.

Our View: Tatis hit a whopping .397 last month over 73 July at-bats, also touting six homers and 18 RBIs over that stretch. He has at least one hit in each of his games thus far in August and appears to have the power flowing as well.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsTuesday 7/29, 9:23 AM CT
Manager Jerry Manuel has tabbed Fernando Tatis as his everyday left fielder, according to the NY Daily News. Tatis, who was out of baseball entirely in 2004 and 2005, is batting .415 with six homers and 18 RBI this month.

Our View: Tatis has been a godsend for a team desperate for corner outfield help with the injuries to Moises Alou and Ryan Church. Expect the Mets to continue to pursue an outfielder, but Tatis is clearly their best internal option right now.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsMonday 7/28, 9:45 PM CT
Fernando Tatis was the best Met in a 7-3 loss in Florida on Monday. He was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI. It was his second triple since 2002.

Our View: Can he be this good? We have to believe Fernando is simply on a hot streak. Still, he has been phenomenal in his starts and looks to occupy the starting lineup until Ryan Church returns.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsSunday 7/27, 5:36 PM CT
Fernando Tatis came up big yet again on Sunday. He finished 3-for-4 with his second home run in as many nights against the Cardinals. He tallied two runs scored and two RBI on the day.

Our View: Tatis has started the last four games for the Mets and continues to fill in admirably for Ryan Church who is missing time with concussion symptoms. He is 8-for-12 in this recent stretch of starts.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsThursday 7/17, 10:15 PM CT
Is Fernando Tatis behind the Mets 10-game winning streak? In July he is hitting .432 with four home runs and 12 RBI in just 36 at-bats.

Our View: It's impossible for Tatis to keep this up, but he may be solidifying himself as an everyday player in the outfield.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsThursday 7/10, 3:30 PM CT
Fernando Tatis went 3-for-5, scored a run and drove in four runs with a home run and two doubles, leading the Mets past the Giants 7-3.

Our View: Tatis has been tearing it up in June, hitting .500 in the month of July. This likely won't continue, but if you need a boost on your fantasy team, it won't hurt to give him a look.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsMonday 7/7, 5:34 PM CT
While Fernando Tatis has been assisting in the latest run by the Mets, the team doesn't appear to threatening with Endy Chavez hitting second and Damion Easley hitting fifth. Tatis is starting in left field and hitting seventh on Monday as the Mets play the finale of a four-game series against the Phillies.

Our View: With Ryan Church's health in question and Luis Castillo on the disabled list, the Mets offense looks average at best.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsSunday 7/6, 8:53 PM CT
Fernando Tatis wins another game for the Mets, this time with a two-run shot in the top of the 12th.

Our View: Tatis entered the game as a pinch-hitter but didn't get a hit until his third at-bat. He does not figure to get enough at-bats to be a factor in fantasy leagues.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsTuesday 5/27, 9:46 PM CT
Fernando Tatis had a pair of RBI singles in the Mets' 5-3 win over the Marlins Tuesday. He now has six hits, including a home run in 15 at-bats for New York since his call-up.

Our View: Tatis is in line for a few starts per week with the injuries to the other Mets outfielders. He could be worth a pickup in NL-only play.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsSunday 4/13, 3:17 PM CT
Fernando Tatis hit his fourth home run of the season at Triple-A on Saturday. The former Cardinals 30 home run hitter is now 33-years-old and hitting just .189, but he is showing versatility in the minors by playing at shortstop and could get himself a call-up or two at some point this season. At the very least, it looks like he still has pop.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsWednesday 3/14, 5:51 PM CT
The Dodgers released Fernando Tatis on Wednesday - three days after he failed to report to minor league camp, according to the AP. "We released Tatis because we released him. That's all I want to say about that right now," GM Ned Colletti said Wednesday. Tatis was hitting just .158 this spring (3-for-19).
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsSaturday 8/19, 6:42 AM CT
For the second straight game, Fernando Tatis started at first base for the O's on Friday, something that might happen more often down the stretch, according to the Baltimore Sun. "We'll continue to put him in here and there and maybe more than here and there," manager Sam Perlozzo said. "He can play third, we'll get him a little more experience at first and maybe a little in the outfield."
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsThursday 7/27, 11:20 PM CT
Fernando Tatis started on Thursday for the first time in the majors since June 15, 2003, according to the AP. Tatis, who started at third base and batted ninth, went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. He was called up last Friday.
Fernando Tatis, 1B, New York MetsFriday 7/21, 1:52 PM CT
The Orioles purchased the contract of Fernando Tatis from Triple-A Ottawa on Friday, according to the AP. Tatis last appeared in the major leagues with the Montreal Expos in 2003.
