Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosWednesday 9/2, 3:46 PM CT
Carlos Lee snapped a 4-for-24 funk with a 2-for-4 day on Thursday, but like everybody else on the Astros, he didn't drive in any runs, as Houston lost 2-0 at Wrigley Field.

Our View: Despite his recent skid, Lee is still poised to post his third .300/25/100 triple crown line in three seasons with Houston.

Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosWednesday 8/26, 10:14 PM CT
Carlos Lee went 3-for-4 with an RBI on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough, as the Astros lost 3-2 in St. Louis.

Our View: Lee is cruising toward his third straight .300 average, 25 home run, 100 RBI season with the Astros, and looks primed to keep producing well into his thirties.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosThursday 8/20, 10:24 PM CT
Carlos Lee was 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI on Thursday, helping the Astros beat Josh Johnson and the Marlins 4-1.

Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosTuesday 8/18, 11:02 PM CT
Carlos Lee hit a two-run homer, accounting for all of the Astros' offense in their 6-2 loss to the Marlins on Tuesday.

Our View: The home run was Lee's 20th and the two RBI brought his season total up to 76. He'll have to step it up if he wants to reach the 100 plateau for the third straight season.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosWednesday 8/12, 9:59 PM CT
Carlos Lee went 3-for-6 with three RBI on Wednesday night, as Houston's offense erupted to blowout the Marlins 14-6.

Carlos Lee hit his 300th career home run on Saturday night. The blast was a solo shot and came off reliever Claudio Vargas in the seventh inning of the Astros' 12-5 loss to the Brewers.

Our View: This is a nice milestone for the Astros' RBI machine. Lee is having yet another solid season, and as long as he can avoid injury he's a perennial lock for 100 RBI.

Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosFriday 7/31, 8:30 AM CT
The Houston Chronicle reports that Carlos Lee could see some additional time at first base this season.

Our View: With Lance Berkman and Darin Erstad on the DL, the Astros don't have anyone to man first base, so Lee has said he's willing to step in. He played there in the eighth inning on Wednesday for the first time since 1999. He likely won't rack up enough appearances there to qualify for an additional position, but the Astros have to be pleased with his position flexibility.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosThursday 7/30, 5:26 PM CT

Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosFriday 7/24, 10:37 PM CT
Carlos Lee went 1-for-4 with a single and an RBI in tonight's 5-4 win over the Mets at Minute Maid Park.

Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosTuesday 7/21, 10:15 PM CT
Carlos Lee hit a grand slam on Tuesday, giving him two home runs and seven RBI in his past two games, as the Astros romped 11-6 over the Cardinals at home.

Our View: After being sluggish for much of the past month, Lee's bat has woken up in a big way the last two games. He looks way out of shape this season, but should continue to put up big numbers as the season progresses.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosMonday 7/20, 9:51 PM CT
Carlos Lee carried the Astros offensively in tonight's close 3-2 win over the Cardinals at Minute Maid Park, as he went 1-for-2 with a three-run homer off Kyle Lohse.

Our View: Lee clubbed his 14th of the season, and is five away from 300 for his career. He extended his hitting streak to six games as well.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosSaturday 7/18, 9:04 AM CT
Carlos Lee left the team's game against the Dodgers on Friday with a left knee contusion, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosFriday 7/10, 10:22 PM CT
Carlos Lee went 3-for-5 with a solo homer off Scott Olsen in tonight's 6-5 win over the Nationals at Minute Maid Park. His other two knocks were singles.

Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosSaturday 7/4, 5:51 PM CT
Carlos Lee helped contribute to an offensive day to forget for Houston on Saturday, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts, as the Astros got dominated by San Francisco and Tim Lincecum 9-0.

Our View: Lee is producing less in 2009 than in seasons past, but is still on pace for around 25 home runs and 100 RBIs. He is a good option in every format.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosThursday 7/2, 12:02 AM CT
Carlos Lee got a hit for the eighth time in nine games on Wednesday and drove in a run as Houston clipped San Diego 7-1.

Our View: Lee isn't driving in as many runs as he has in the past, but is still an above average option in the outfield in most every format.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosMonday 6/29, 11:28 PM CT
Carlos Lee went 2-for-4 with an RBI in tonight's 3-1 win at San Diego. Both of his hits were singles.

Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosTuesday 6/16, 11:13 AM CT
The Dallas Morning News is reporting that Astros' outfielder Carlos Lee will play in the team's upcoming series against the Rangers. Lee is expected to serve as the team's DH in the series after leaving Saturday's game with cramping in his left leg.

Our View: Lee was questionable for tonight's game, but the fact that he can be used as the DH probably had a lot to do with the fact that he is playing. Fantasy owners should feel confident in Lee for this series, especially considering the fact that they are playing in a notorious hitter's ballpark in Arlington.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosMonday 6/15, 8:55 AM CT
Carlos Lee sat out his first game of the season on Sunday with tightness in his left hamstring according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View: Lee is questionable for the Astros game Tuesday at the Rangers, but will likely serve as the team's DH if he is ready to go. The burly left fielder is playing well in 2009, clubbing 11 home runs to go with 40 RBIs while batting .313.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosSaturday 6/13, 8:54 PM CT
Carlos Lee exited Saturday's battle at Arizona in the fourth inning with cramps in his left leg, according to the Associated Press.

Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosMonday 6/1, 10:44 PM CT
Carlos Lee went 3-for-3 with two RBI in Monday's 4-1 win over the Rockies at Minute Maid Park. He hit two singles and a two-run homer.

Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosSaturday 5/16, 4:35 PM CT
Carlos Lee had three hits, including a home run, in the Astros' 5-4 loss to the Cubs. Lee had an RBI and a run scored in the game.

Our View: Lee is hitting the ball well after his slow start to the season, and he is starting to live up to his fantasy draft status. He has eight home runs and 29 RBI, and he is hitting .341. Lee is a strong play in all leagues.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosSunday 5/10, 4:40 PM CT
Carlos Lee continued his hot streak with three more hits in Sunday's 12-5 win over the Padres. He hit a home run, a double, a walk, four RBI, and two runs scored.

Our View: Lee has a hit in each of his 11 games this month and a total of 20. However, today marked his first home run of the month. He has struck out just 10 times through 117 at bats and he has also drawn 10 walks.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosSaturday 5/9, 11:20 PM CT
Carlos Lee had a big day at the plate Saturday with a 3-for-4 effort that included a double and two RBI. The Astros topped the Padres 5-4.

Our View: Lee quickly turned his season around and the RBI-machine is now hitting .319 with 22 runs driven in on the year. He now has a nine-game hitting streak and has at least one hit in every game this month. There's no better way to shrug off a slow April.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosMonday 4/27, 8:12 AM CT
Carlos Lee feels fine following his bout with an Achilles' tendon injury, according to the Houston Chronicle. He went 1-for-3 in Sunday's win over Milwaukee and Lee said, "Everything felt good. No problemo."

Our View: Lee is hitting well, and crushed two homers over his last three games. He registered a hit in six of his last seven games.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosFriday 4/24, 11:07 PM CT
Carlos Lee hit his fourth home run of the season on Friday and was responsible for the Astros' only two runs in their loss to the Brewers.

Our View: Lee is starting to heat up, which is great news for the Astros, who were having a horrible time trying to score runs while he and Berkman were slumping.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosMonday 4/20, 10:44 PM CT
Carlos Lee went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk against Cincinnati on Monday.

Our View: Lee's shot, his second of the year, was part of a back-to-back job, following a Lance Berkman solo home run. Both of Houston's sluggers have struggled out of the gates but should be able to pick things in the near future.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosSaturday 4/18, 9:01 PM CT
Carlos Lee was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate on Saturday as the Astros stomped the Reds 7-0. He doubled, scored twice, drove in a run and drew a walk in the contest.

Our View: Lee has been off to a terrible start this year, so today's performance was a breath of fresh air for fantasy owners. His average is up to .250, but his RBI total is still eerily low for a man who religiously drive in over 100 a year.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosWednesday 4/15, 10:53 PM CT
Carlos Lee provided most of the offense for the Astros on Wednesday as he only had one hit, but drove in three in Houston's 4-1 win over the Pirates.

Our View: Lee has struggled this season to say the least. Today's offensive outburst tripled his previous RBI total and finally raised his average over the Mendoza Line.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosSaturday 4/11, 12:09 AM CT
Carlos Lee was the man the Cards couldn't figure out on Friday. He was 3-for-4 with a home run in the Astros' 5-3 loss.

Our View: Lee struggled this spring, but fear not. He produces every year, so why should 2009 be any different? He's an RBI machine and got his first one tonight. That should give him a little push start.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosTuesday 3/17, 4:20 PM CT
Carlos Lee added to his spring struggles with an 0-for-3 day against the Tigers. Lee struck out, left a man on base and is now hitting an embarrassing .050 in Grapefruit League play.

Our View: Don't let the bad spring scare you too much. Lee is an RBI machine and seems to be in mid-season form whenever the start of the season rolls around. He is a safe pick as a top fantasy outfielder.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosTuesday 3/10, 3:45 PM CT
Carlos Lee went 0-for-3 in Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the Braves in the Grapefruit League.

Our View: The elite fantasy outfielder left two men on base, but did not strike out today.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosFriday 2/20, 8:59 AM CT
Carlos Lee will represent Panama in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, according to the Houston Chronicle. He said, "I am planning on playing right now. I still want to play a few games and work out. I have not faced live pitching in a game. So I want to play a few games and work out and see."

Our View: He should see enough at-bats in the tournament to get ready for the start of the season with the Astros.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosThursday 2/19, 10:06 AM CT
Carlos Lee has reported to camp with the Astros today, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Lee is worth drafting as a top-10 fantasy outfielder, and he had a strong track record with durability prior to suffering a freak injury in 2008. He racked up 28 homers and 100 RBI last season in only 115 games.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosTuesday 1/20, 7:25 AM CT
Carlos Lee has decided to represent Panama in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View: Lee's season-ending fractured left little finger has healed and he has already started swinging a bat in Panama. Lee is the all-time leader in the majors among Panama-born players with 281 career home runs. Barring a setback in the tournament, Lee looks to be ready for opening day.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosTuesday 11/18, 11:10 AM CT
The Astros are trying to dump money and may be willing to deal Carlos Lee, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: He would need to waive his no-trade clause. The 32-year-old outfielder will earn $74 million through 2012. He would be expensive to acquire, but is a strong power hitter, and has topped .300 in three straight seasons.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosTuesday 11/11, 2:31 PM CT
Carlos Lee, who is recovering from a fractured finger, is on pace to be ready for spring training, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Lee will continue a workout routine that includes cardio work and weightlifting and will be re-examined in January, but is expected to have no limitations for the start of spring training. Lee was notably leading the NL with 100 RBI over 115 games prior to going down.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosMonday 10/13, 5:32 PM CT
Carlos Lee's broken finger will not be healed for another six weeks, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View: Despite the long recovery time of the finger, Lee should be ready for spring training, and ready to mash for fantasy owners once again.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosWednesday 9/24, 10:43 AM CT
Carlos Lee indicated that he won't be able to return over the Astros' final five games of the regular season, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View: All six fractures haven’t yet healed on the left little finger that was smashed when he was hit by a pitch from Bronson Arroyo of the Reds. He was previously hoping to surprise the team by returning for the final weekend.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosMonday 8/11, 5:06 PM CT
Carlos Lee underwent successful surgery on his left pinkie and was in good spirits after the 70 minute procedure was completed, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View: Lee had six fractures, not three as originally believed, but he needed only one pin to stabilize the finger and should heal just fine without any additional procedures, though he is still highly unlikely to play again this season.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosMonday 8/11, 2:24 PM CT
Carlos Lee has been named the NL Player of the Week, according to the AP. Lee led the NL with a .550 average (11-for-20), and a 1.100 slugging percentage, as well as a.640 on-base percentage. He tied for the league lead with 11 RBI.

Our View: Lee still leads the NL with 100 RBI, and it is unfortunate that he is likely to miss the remainder of the season with a fractured left pinkie.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosSunday 8/10, 10:43 AM CT
Carlos Lee has been placed on the 15-day DL due to a fractured left pinkie, according to the AP. Reggie Abercrombie has been recalled from Triple-A Round Rock as the adjoining move.

Our View: He is expected to miss six to eight weeks, hence likely ending his 2008 season. This is a significant blow to the Astros and fantasy owners, as he had been on fire, leading the majors with a .390 batting average and 47 RBI while ranking fifth with 13 home runs since June 20.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosSaturday 8/9, 8:07 PM CT
Houston slugger Carlos Lee , the National League's RBI leader, left the Astros' game at Cincinnati in the third inning Saturday night with an apparent injury to his left pinky finger after getting hit by a pitch, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: The left fielder, who reached the 100-RBI level for the fourth consecutive season on Friday night and leads the NL in that category, was hit by a pitch from Bronson Arroyo with Lance Berkman on first base, two outs and Houston leading 1-0. What looked like blood was seen on Lee's left pinkie finger when his batting glove was pulled off. Lee will be reevaluated on Monday.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosSaturday 8/9, 12:37 PM CT
Carlos Lee is having a completely dominant August, and chances are he continues that tonight. For the month, Lee is hitting .500 (15-for-30), with four home runs and 13 RBI. His slugging percentage for the month is an outrageous .967. Against tonight's starter for Cincinnati, Bronson Arroyo, Lee is hitting .357 with four extra-base hits.

Our View: Lee has the inside track for N.L. Player of the Month, and Bronson Arroyo has a chance to contribute to that distinction this evening.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosFriday 8/8, 10:48 PM CT
Carlos Lee had another big night on Friday as he not only picked up his 28th home run of the season but he also recorded three other hits including his 27th double of the year.

Our View: Lee has knocked in at least 99 runs in 6-straight season and is just two home runs short of his 6th straight season of 30. The three RBI on this night also give Lee 1,001 in his illustrious career.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosThursday 8/7, 9:34 PM CT
Carlos Lee has knocked in at least one run in each of his last four games, and he has accumulated eight RBI in those games. Lee went 3-for-3 with two RBI and two walks in Houston's win over the Reds.

Our View: Lee continues to mash for fantasy owners, even as he does it relative anonymity. He doesn't get nearly the attention he deserves for the numbers he puts up.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosTuesday 8/5, 12:15 AM CT
Carlos Lee struck out twice but went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored to lead Houston to a 2-0 victory over the Cubs.

Our View: Lee is an underrated fantasy performer. His RBI was the 90th of the season for him, and he also has 25 home runs and is hitting over .300. Yet he rarely gets mentioned among the game's best at the plate, though fantasy owners certainly know better.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosTuesday 7/29, 9:51 PM CT
Carlos Lee went 2-for-4 and hit his 24th home run of the year, a grand slam, off of Reds starter Bronson Arroyo.

Our View: Lee's July now consists of a .387 batting average, six home runs and 25 RBI. What is there not to like about that in fantasy baseball?
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosMonday 7/7, 9:56 PM CT
Carlos Lee hit his 20th home run and registered three RBI, but the Houston Astros came up short end of a 10-7 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night.

Our View: Lee's 20th long ball gives the Astros' outfielder one home run in every 17 at-bats on the season.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosWednesday 7/2, 10:09 PM CT
Carlos Lee went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, and recorded the Astros' only RBI in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Dodgers.

Our View: Lee is hot, as he racked up 11 hits, two homers, and six RBI over his last five games.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosTuesday 7/1, 11:13 PM CT
Carlos Lee went 4-for-5 with two RBI in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Dodgers.

Our View: Lee has generated nine hits, one homer, and five RBI over his last four games.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosSaturday 6/28, 9:58 PM CT
Carlos Lee hit a solo shot and a two-run double to help the the Houston Astros to an 11-10 win over the Boston Red Sox.

Our View: Lee helped Houston rally from 4-0 and 9-6 deficits with big at-bats on Saturday night.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosFriday 6/20, 11:41 PM CT
Carlos Lee had two hits on Friday night which led to his 54th and 55th RBI of the year for the Astros.

Our View: Lee is only hitting .272 on the season, but the rest of his production is pretty much up to his usually excellent standards. Continue to ride El Caballo.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosSunday 6/15, 6:36 PM CT
Carlos Lee had a tough day at the plate in Sunday's 13-0 shutout loss to the Yankees, as he went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.

Our View: Lee went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI in last night's loss to the Yankees, and the club figured him out on Sunday.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosSaturday 6/14, 9:30 PM CT
Houston welcomed the Yankees in for their interleague matchup of the weekend and found the offense was too much to take, falling 8-4 in a game with plenty of hitting. For Houston, it was outfielder Carlos Lee doing work, going 3-for-4 with his 14th home run of the season, tabbing three RBIs on the night.

Our View: After hitting .275 through May, Lee has improved to .317 heading into tonight for June. However, he has some work to do to match the six homers and 30 RBIs he posted last month, now sporting three homers and just nine RBIs through half of June.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosWednesday 6/11, 11:04 PM CT
Carlos Lee hit his 13th home run of the season on Wednesday night, part of a big night that included three hits, two runs and two RBI.

Our View: Lee is no pace for his standard 30-HR, 100-RBI season, but his average is languishing at just .268. Given that his BABIP is just .255, almost .040 points below his career .293 mark, we would expect his batting average to rise moving forward.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosSunday 5/25, 6:44 PM CT
In the wake of 15 runs scored by the opposition, Houston outfielder Carlos Lee managed to continue with his progress. The Astros lost 15-6, but Lee went 1-for-3 with one walk, hitting his 11th home run of the season with two men on to gather a total of four RBIs and one run scored on the day.

Our View: Lee has just five home runs this month, but he has racked up 27 RBIs and appears to be on the upswing.
Carlos Lee, LF, Houston AstrosSunday 5/25, 2:13 PM CT
The contest between the Astros and Phillies was delayed when plate umpire Jerry Crawford was struck in the head by Carlos Lee's bat, according to the AP. Lee fouled off a 2-2 pitch from Phillies' ace Cole Hamels in the first inning and his bat hit Crawford on the follow-through. Crawford took off his helmet and immediately jogged to the Astros' dugout, where trainers Dave Labossiere and Rex Jones met him on the steps. Crawford had a bloody gash on the left side of his head and Labossiere put a white towel over it before escorting Crawford into the Astros' clubhouse. His condition was not immediately known.

Our View: After a 12-minute delay, first-base umpire Rob Drake took over behind the plate and the game resumed. On the second pitch after the delay, Lee hit a three-run home run to put the Astros on top 3-0.

Carlos Lee hit his eighth home run to drive in his 28th run of the season for the Astros on Tuesday night.

Our View: Lee's power will be there, you can pretty much bank on 30 HR and 100 RBI, but his single stolen base is starting to be a concern after double digit steals in 5-straight seasons.

Houston OF Carlos Lee hit the park running today, doing all he could to secure the 6-5 victory over the Washington Nationals. Lee went 3-for-4 at the plate, hitting two doubles to total a team-high three RBIs on the evening.

Our View: Lee has been grinding along with little blips of greatness like this from time to time. The power is there to do better, but the consistency has lacked.

Carlos Lee smacked his sixth home run of the season on Wednesday as he knocked in three runs for the Astros.

Our View: Lee hasn't quite been the force many expected in the early going considering he is batting .262 without a SB, but with his record of consistent excellence, a 30 HR, 100 RBI, 10 SB season is almost a given so continue to ride him.

The Astros will switch their batting order on Saturday, this according to MLB.com. Carlos Lee will now bat fifth behind Miguel Tejada in third and Lance Berkman in the cleanup role. "You might even see a different [lineup] tomorrow," manager Cecil Cooper said. "We wasted too much time. We've got to get this thing turned around soon, because we can't continue to go on like we have been."

Our View: This move doesn't make a lot of sense. Why take the best OBP bat in your lineup in Berkman, and drop him to fourth in the order? All three bats will produce big numbers by the end of the year no matter where they hit, so don't be overly concerned at this switch.

Phil Garner has no problem with letting Carlos Lee run on his own like he did in the second inning Saturday, the Houston Chronicle reports. Lee was caught stealing easily, making him 2-for-4 on stolen-base attempts this year. Lee was 19-for-21 on steals last year, despite his 6-2, 240-pound build. "He might get thrown out a few times," Garner said, "but if he steals 20 out of 25, that's still pretty good, and I'll take that."
