Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsTuesday 2/23, 10:46 AM CT
Luis Castillo is looking "thinner" this season, according to Newsday's David Lennon.

Our View: Not bad for a guy that hit .302 with 20 stolen bases last season. While he may be intensely unloved by the Mets brass, he should be owned in all NL-only leagues, and could even be a viable bench option in deeper mixed leagues because of his speed.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsTuesday 1/5, 1:06 PM CT
Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports does not believe that Luis Castillo will be traded this offseason.

Our View: He cites an over-abundance of cheaper alternatives available on the free agent market as the reason why. Castillo's advancing age and diminishing defensive skills can't help, either. And while he still gets on base at a very high rate, he has extraordinarily little power. The Amazins' dream of having Orlando Hudson in Flushing next season no longer appears realistic.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsMonday 1/4, 7:02 PM CT
Jerry Crasnick of ESPN tweeted that the Red Sox discussed a trade of Mike Lowell for Mets' second baseman Luis Castillo.

Our View: Lowell became more expendable to Boston after reeling in Adrian Beltre today, but there would not be a starting spot for Castillo if traded, unless Dustin Pedroia goes down with an injury.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsFriday 12/4, 2:02 PM CT
The New York Times' Jack Curry reports that the Mets desperately want to unload second baseman Luis Castillo at next week's GM meetings in Indianapolis.

Our View: They are reportedly eyeing Orlando Hudson as his replacement. Castillo, while quite maligned, actually got on base at a .387 clip last season, which, even despite his total lack of power, is nothing to sneeze at. It might sound crazy, but he should generate a decent amount of interest if the Mets don't ask for the moon in return.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsTuesday 9/8, 9:43 PM CT
Luis Castillo was 3-for-4 with an RBI on Tuesday, but couldn't propel the Amazins past the Marlins, as the Mets lost 4-2 at home.

Our View: With a .315 average and on-base percentage above .400, Castillo has quietly been one of the best players in the National League East, and a solid option at second base, all year.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSunday 8/16, 3:58 PM CT
Luis Castillo only had one hit on Sunday, but it was a big one. Castillo launched a two-run homer in the fifth inning to help the Mets to a 3-2 win over the Giants.

Our View: Castillo isn't known for his power, but his home run today helped the Mets get a much needed win. Castillo owners should enjoy the home run, because you won't get many more out of him this season.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSaturday 8/15, 7:53 PM CT
Luis Castillo went 3-for-4 with three singles and two runs scored in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Giants at Citi Field.

Our View: Castillo accounted for three of the Mets' seven hits in the game. He has a hit in five of his last six games, and is batting .351 in August.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSunday 8/9, 12:31 PM CT
Newsday's Davin Lennon reports that Luis Castillo (ankle) will finally return to the Mets lineup on Sunday after missing four games.

Our View: Amazingly, a Met was able to avoid the DL after getting injured. It could be a mirage, but for now he looks safe to pencil back into your lineup next week.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSaturday 8/8, 8:08 PM CT
According to Bart Hubbuch on Twitter, injured second baseman Luis Castillo is set to return to the Mets lineup on Sunday.

Our View: Castillo has been nursing a sore ankle after falling down the dugout steps on Tuesday. The Mets get one of their walking wounded back into the lineup. Let's see how long he can stay healthy.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsFriday 8/7, 6:26 PM CT
Luis Castillo will sit out his third straight game on Friday with a mild ankle sprain, according to Newsday's David Lennon.

Our View: Yes, this is the same ankle sprain Castillo suffered when he fell down the dugout steps on Tuesday. Knowing the go of it the Mets have had in 2009, expect him to land on the disabled list next week.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsWednesday 8/5, 11:33 AM CT
According to Bart Hubbuch on Twitter, the Mets are calling Luis Castillo's ankle injury a "mild sprain".

Our View: Castillio fell down the dugout steps in the seventh inning of Tuesday's game and injured the ankle. He'll be on the shelf for a couple of games, but looks to avoid the DL. The Mets have been cursed with injuries all season though, so we wouldn't be surprised if something went awry. Alex Cora will fill in at second.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsTuesday 8/4, 9:13 PM CT
Mets' second baseman Luis Castillo left Tuesday's gave against the Cardinals in the seventh inning with an ankle injury, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: File this under the catergory of "Could only happen to the 2009 Mets", as Castillo injured himself falling down the steps of the dugout. Castillo had to be helped to he clubhouse by teammates, and there has been no update yet on his condition. We will let you know when we hear anything on the severity of the injury.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsWednesday 7/22, 6:42 PM CT
Luis Castillo was ejected in the second inning of the Mets game against the Nationals on Tuesday, according to Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post.

Our View: Castillo was arguing a call near second base. Expect him back in the lineup on Friday when the Mets play the Astros.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSunday 7/5, 6:14 PM CT
Luis Castillo went 2-for-2 with a pair of singles in Sunday's 2-0 loss at Philadelphia.

Our View: The Mets only mustered four hits in the shutout loss. Castillo recorded a hit in three of four games in July, but has gone six straight games without an RBI.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsTuesday 6/23, 9:38 PM CT
Luis Castillo was the only Met providing any offense on Tuesday, going 1-for-2 with a walk as the Amazins' got shutout 3-0 by St. Louis.

Our View: The much maligned Castillo is now batting .284 for the season. While not as bad as the New York press makes him out to be, he isn't worth a roster spot in any format.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSaturday 6/13, 12:16 PM CT
According to the New York Daily News, Mets' second baseman Luis Castillo will hit leadoff in Saturday's game against the Yankees one day after making the error that cost the Mets the win. Castillo dropped a routine fly ball in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday that allowed two Yankees to score, the last being the winning run.

Our View: The Mets are going right back to Castillo today, and he is sure to hear it from the Yankee faithful. Castillo needs to forget about last night and move forward, because the team needs him to set the table for their offense today.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsTuesday 6/2, 8:38 PM CT
Luis Castillo went 1-for-3 with a single and recorded the Mets' lone RBI in Tuesday's 3-1 loss at Pittsburgh.

Our View: Castillo snapped a 16-game drought without an RBI, and only has 12 for the season.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSunday 5/10, 4:28 PM CT
Luis Castillo went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two stolen bases in the Mets 8-4 win over the Pirates on Mother's Day.

Our View: The veteran second baseman has two hits in each of his last three games and has all four of his stolen bases in his last four. Apparently he's feeling healthy and could be a solid fantasy option if he continues to play every day. However, that has not been the case for most of the season. He has started in each of the last four games.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsMonday 5/4, 2:54 PM CT
Luis Castillo is in tonight's lineup at second base against the Braves, according to Newsday.

Our View: He has been dealing with back spasms. He has two hits over his last two games (five at-bats), and should be fine for fantasy duty.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSaturday 5/2, 12:08 PM CT
Second baseman Luis Castillo (back) will be back in the lineup on Saturday, the New York Daily News confirms. He has missed three straight games.

Our View: Fantasy owners can feel free to use him again, although he doesn't have much value beyond NL-only leagues.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSaturday 5/2, 8:36 AM CT
Second baseman Luis Castillo has missed three straight games due to back spasms, but he should return to the lineup soon, manager Jerry Manuel assures the New York Post.

Our View: Castillo is off to a good start this season, and it sounds like he could be back this weekend. Let's hope the back issue doesn't cool off his bat too much.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsFriday 5/1, 3:20 PM CT
Luis Castillo will not be in tonight's lineup at Philadelphia, according to MetsBlog.com. He is still dealing with back spasms.

Our View: Skipper Jerry Manuel did not speculate when Castillo may return. Alex Cora could cover second base in his place tonight.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsWednesday 4/29, 8:30 AM CT
Second baseman Luis Castillo did not play on Tuesday due to a sore back. He suffered spasms on Monday and was still "really tight" on Tuesday, the New York Daily News reports. Castillo is not expected to play on Wednesday, and the Mets are off on Thursday.

Our View: Alex Cora has been playing in Castillo's place and will surely be at second on Wednesday. Castillo hasn't been a fast healer in recent seasons, so fantasy owners shouldn't assume Luis will be back by Friday.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsTuesday 4/28, 7:28 AM CT
Luis Castillo left Monday's game in the eighth inning due to back spasms, according to MetsBlog.com.

Our View: Castillo will be examined today. Skipper Jerry Manuel noted that Alex Cora will likely play second base tonight against the Marlins.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsMonday 3/30, 5:51 PM CT
The New York Daily News reports that second baseman Luis Castillo will be the Mets primary No. 8 hitter this season.

Our View: After a hot start this spring, Castillo has slipped to just .267. The Mets hope to use his speed in that slot while using the pitcher more often to lay down sacrifice bunts. The veteran only played in 87 games a year ago, but appears to be healthy this spring.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSunday 3/15, 5:43 PM CT
Luis Castillo was 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk, a run scored, and two RBI as the Mets beat the Marlins 10-5 on Sunday.

Our View: Castillo is hitting .320 with eight RBI in 25 at-bats this spring. He is also 1-for-1 on his stolen base attempts. After a dreadful 2008 in which he dealt with numerous injuries, expect to see better numbers in 2009. If he can remain healthy, he will provide good bang for a cheap buck.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsMonday 3/9, 3:42 PM CT
Luis Castillo went 1-for-2 with two RBI in Monday's 9-8 win over Baltimore. His hit was a single.

Our View: Castillo now has six RBI in the preseason. He is worth a look as a flier for NL-only leagues as he attempts to put a disappointing 2008 campaign behind him.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsWednesday 2/25, 3:43 PM CT
Luis Castillo was strong in the leadoff spot in today's 9-3 win over Baltimore in the preseason opener, as he went 2-for-3 with four RBI and a run scored.

Our View: Castillo is off to a good start as he attempts to put a disappointing 2008 campaign behind him. Castillo is worth a look as a flier for NL-only leagues.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsWednesday 2/18, 1:44 PM CT
Luis Castillo reported to camp at 193 pounds, down from his 210-pound reporting weight in 2008, according to the NY Daily News. He said, "I feel so differently than last year."

Our View: He is trying to bounce back from a disappointing 2008 campaign, and the club has faith in him as there is talk of him batting leadoff over Jose Reyes. Castillo is worth a look as a flier for NL-only leagues.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsWednesday 1/7, 11:43 AM CT
The New York Mets have been trying to trade second baseman Luis Castillo, but his salary makes that difficult, so they are likely stuck with him, reports Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com.

Our View: Castillo will make nearly $19 million over the next three seasons. It was a ridiculous contract when it was signed and looks even worse now.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsTuesday 12/30, 9:08 AM CT
An undisclosed source believes the Mets are 50-50 to trade Luis Castillo before the start of the 2009 season, according to ESPN.

Our View: The Mets and Dodgers are keeping talks open in case a version of a Castillo-for-Andruw Jones deal can be made. The Mets would use Andruw Jones is right field, Ryan Church's position.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSaturday 12/27, 10:52 AM CT
The New York Mets are still attempting to trade second baseman Luis Castillo so they can go after free agent Orlando Hudson, reports Buster Olney of ESPN.com.

Our View: The Mets foolishly signed Castillo to a long-term deal, and likely regretted it the next day. He is a middling hitter who is quickly losing speed, so trading him won't be easy.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSunday 12/7, 3:29 PM CT
The New York Mets trying hard to trade second baseman Luis Castillo, but his contract is making that difficult, according to Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com.

Our View: The Mets want to pursue Orlando Hudson, but Castillo stands in the way.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSaturday 11/22, 11:15 AM CT
The Mets were having conversations about trading second baseman Luis Castillo but now it appears they are ready to move on with the veteran as their second baseman.GM Omar Minaya said Friday that there is a "good chance he will return in that role."

Our View: Castillo was once a top of the line lead off hitter but only .245 last year with an OBP of .355.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsFriday 11/21, 9:53 AM CT
The New York Post reports that Luis Castillo requested an offseason meeting in which he implored Mets officials not to trade him and also pledged to re-dedicate himself to offseason training to assure he is in top condition next season.

Our View: Castillo was rather miserable last season as he hit .245 and played a bad second base. The Mets have been solely focused on pitching in free agency so it appears that Castillo may get his wish. He has the potential to be roster worthy in fantasy leagues, but keep an eye on him in Spring Training before making an investment in the oft-injured two-bagger.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsFriday 9/19, 10:53 AM CT
Luis Castillo is expected to start at second base tonight, according to the NY Daily News. Argenis Reyes has started the last three games at the position.

Our View: Reyes is hitless in his last 24 at-bats, and manager Jerry Manuel predicted that once Castillo returns to the lineup, he would be there to stay. The Mets shelled out a lot of money for Castillo this season, and would like him to close out the 2008 campaign on a high note. He merits consideration in deeper NL-only leagues.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsWednesday 8/27, 3:14 PM CT
Luis Castillo is back in the Mets' starting lineup for tonight's game against the Phillies. Castillo will bat second and play at his customary second base.

Our View: Castillo came off the DL on Monday and went 0-4. After his first game back he was on the bench for the next two and is now back in the lineup.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsMonday 8/25, 4:29 PM CT
Luis Castillo was activated from the disabled list on Monday, taking the roster spot of the newly disabled John Maine, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Castillo regains his marginal fantasy status, which comes mostly because of his 13 stolen bases.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSaturday 8/23, 5:02 PM CT
It was thought that Luis Castillo was coming off the DL today, but he apparently asked out of the starting lineup because he didn't want to affect the Mets' team chemistry, according to Newsday.

Our View: Castillo will travel with the team to Philadelphia, but it's not clear when he will be activated, though it will happen before the rosters expand. Argenis Reyes started at second today.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSaturday 8/23, 4:13 PM CT
The Mets have decided to hold off on activating Luis Castillo from the DL, according to the NY Daily News. He was originally supposed to return from his strained left hip flexor today, but they'll instead wait a few days.

Our View: The report indicates that Castillo "volunteered" to wait a few days. We're not sure why, but the team has said previously that they were in no hurry for Luis to return.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsFriday 8/22, 4:34 PM CT
Mets second baseman Luis Castillo will return to the team on Saturday as he concludes his rehab assignment, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: No word on who will be sent down to make room for Castillo, but the likeliest candidate is Argenis Reyes, who took Castillo's place upon his disablement.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsThursday 8/21, 12:01 AM CT
Luis Castillo continues his rehab assignment to heal his left hip flexor, and in a game on Wednesday, he went 1-for-4 with an RBI and run scored, according to Mets.com.

Our View: Castillo has lost a lot of his speed, which had been his best asset for fantasy owners. He remains a decent option in NL-only leagues, but not mixed league formats.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsMonday 8/18, 12:16 PM CT
Luis Castillo remains on the DL (strained left hip flexor) and the Mets are in no hurry of activating him, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View: His 20-day minor league rehab clock is close to running out, but the team is not concerned with bringing him back while Damion Easley and Argenis Reyes are performing well at second base.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsTuesday 8/12, 2:29 PM CT
Luis Castillo suffered a small setback, albeit not physical in nature, during his rehab assignment. The veteran needed Sunday and Monday off from active duty with Class A St. Lucie to attend to a "personal situation," this according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: The report noted that Mets' officials said it will delay his scheduled return to the team.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSaturday 8/9, 5:32 PM CT
Mets manager Jerry Manuel said today that Luis Castillo could come off the disabled list as soon as Tuesday in Washington against the Nationals, according to the New York Post.

Our View: This could be rather intriguing as Castillo will be looking for playing time and may find trouble as Manuel has grown comfortable with Damion Easley and Argenis Reyes. Because of the performances of Easley and Reyes, and with the MetsNew York Mets playing well over .500 ball with Castillo not in the lineup, Manuel repeated again today that Castillo will likely be a part-time player when he comes back despite being in the first year of a four-year, $25 million contract.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsWednesday 8/6, 10:33 AM CT
Luis Castillo, who is trying to bounce back from a strained left hip flexor, went 1-for-3 and played seven innings at second base for Single-A St. Lucie Tuesday, according to the NY Daily News. Mets' GM Omar Minaya mentioned it is a possibility that Castillo could return at some point this weekend.

Our View: Castillo has been disappointing this season, and Damion Easley has fared better at second back in his absence, so fantasy owners should not consider Castillo for lineups until he proves to be effective.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSaturday 8/2, 10:11 AM CT
Mets second baseman Luis Castillo played the first game in his rehab stint and went 0-for-2 in rookie ball, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Castillo has been on the DL with a strained hip flexor, but it has been estimated he will be back in a week, after a few more rehab contests.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsThursday 7/31, 7:41 AM CT
Luis Castillo will begin a rehab assignment this weekend and is expected to rejoin the Mets sometime in early August, according to MetsBlog.com. He is coming back from a strained hip flexor, and he won't be playing every day upon his return. "I think Luis will come back with a little more fire about him, knowing we'll play whoever is playing well," manager Jerry Manuel said.

Our View: Damon Easley and Argenis Reyes will battle Castillo for playing time at second.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsWednesday 7/30, 7:16 PM CT
Luis Castillo, out since July 3rd with a strained left hip flexor, isn't certain to return to the starting lineup once healthy, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Damon Easley and Argenis Reyes have hit a nearly combined .300 in July providing the Mets with more offense then they were getting from Castillo who is hitting only .261. Given the leg injury, Castillo might not even be capable of bringing the speed that he once supplied leaving him with little fantasy value except in NL only leagues.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsFriday 7/18, 11:09 AM CT
Luis Castillo is not ready to be cleared to resume baseball activities, and needs a few more days as he continues to recover from his strained left hip flexor, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View: He was eligible to be activated from the DL Friday, but shouldn't be expected back soon. The team is in no hurry to get him back, as Damion Easley has fared well in his absence at second base.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsMonday 7/14, 11:37 AM CT
Luis Castillo is in the first season of a four-year, $25 million deal with the Mets, but the team is not concerned about getting him back, according to the NY Daily News. When asked if Castillo will be returning from the DL when eligible Friday following the All-Star break, a Mets' official said, "What for?" Manager Jerry Manuel added that the club is performing very well at second base right now.

Our View: Castillo has been a disappointment this season, and it appears that he will have to battle Damion Easley and Argenis Reyes for playing time when he comes back, which will further lower his fantasy value.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsThursday 7/3, 1:31 PM CT
Luis Castillo will head to the disabled list with a strained left hip flexor, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Castillo isn't offering the Mets or fantasy owners much value at the moment. Damion Easley has been playing second base the last two days while Castillo was out.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsWednesday 7/2, 9:06 PM CT
Updating a previous report, Luis Castillo could land on the DL due to his sore left quad, according to MLB.com. Castillo said, "I have to make a decision if I'm going to go to the DL, because I don't want to get rest, man. I want to be playing most every day."

Our View: Castillo missed his second-straight game on Wednesday, and he will attempt to play again in the coming days. If his ailment doesn't improve, then he'll head to the DL in the hope that an extended rest will cure this problem for good. Damion Easley should continue to roam second base while he is out.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsWednesday 7/2, 7:03 PM CT
Luis Castillo missed his second straight game on Wednesday due to his quad injury, according to the AP. Manager Jerry Manuel said he would consider using Castillo in a part-time capacity until he feels better. Manuel said he doesn’t think a stint on the 15-day DL will be needed.

Our View: Damion Easley made another start at second base in his place. Castillo made his sixth fielding error in his last appearance on Monday, which surpassed his total number from 2007.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsFriday 6/27, 5:39 PM CT
Luis Castillo scored five runs in the Mets 15-6 thrashing of the Yankees. He was 2-for-3 at the plate while walking three times. Carlos Delgado drove in Castillo three times as part of his nine RBI day.

Our View: Castillo won't give you much in the way of batting average or RBI, he doesn't hit for power and his stolen bases are down. If you have him on your fantasy team for some reason it was a banner day, but probably not something you should expect to continue.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsFriday 6/27, 11:12 AM CT
Despite the fact that Luis Castillo figures to be limited in the coming weeks while he nurses chronically sore knees, the second baseman is in the lineup for today's first game of two against the Yanks at Shea Stadium.

Our View: Castillo is starting at second base and hitting second in the batting order. Don't expect him to be in the starting lineup for the second game.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsWednesday 6/25, 1:09 PM CT
Luis Castillo will be limited to three or four games per week due to his chronically sore knees, which means his fantasy value takes a hit. Fewer at-bats mean fewer runs, Castillo's primary contribution outside of his batting average, which is lingering around the .250 mark this year.

Our View: Castillo's stolen base totals figure to decrease as well.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsMonday 6/23, 9:23 AM CT
Luis Castillo will miss Monday's game against Seattle due to a sore left quad, according to the NY Post. Acting manager Jerry Manuel said, "I don't see Luis moving as well as I'd like to see him move right now. I know he's not quite 100 percent, and we're going to do what we can to keep him fresh."

Our View: Manuel also did not rule out a trip to the DL for Castillo, who battled several ailments this season. Damion Easley will continue to roam second base while he is out of action.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSunday 6/22, 1:38 PM CT
Manager Jerry Manuel submitted today's starting lineup for the Mets and failed to list second baseman Luis Castillo on the card. Asked by reporters about the decision, Manuel stated Castillo will be out at least a couple of day due to pain in his right quedriceps muscle, according to the NY Post.

Our View: Manuel also said a DL stint is a possibility for Castillo, who has been battling a variety of ailments this season.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsFriday 6/13, 6:46 PM CT
Luis Castillo is back in the starting lineup on Friday night against the Texas Rangers in the second set of interleague games.

Our View: Castillo was given Thursday afternoon off in the loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks and Dan Haren.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsTuesday 6/3, 6:39 PM CT
Still battling a hip flexor, Mets second baseman Luis Castillo will once again be out of the lineup this evening has New York faces off with San Francisco, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View: Castillo is still listed as day-to-day, but he has struggled with this same leg for most of the season. He will be replaced by Damion Easley, batting second in the order.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSunday 6/1, 9:02 AM CT
Luis Castillo tried to talk his way into the lineup on Saturday, to no avail. The Mets say he has a strained left hip flexor, but Castillo tells the New York Post it is a quad injury. The ailment is different from the quad malady that caused the second baseman to miss three games earlier this year. "I want to be out there, especially since we're starting to play a little better," Castillo admits.

Our View: It sounds like Luis is day-to-day, but the Mets aren't going to mess around with his oft-injured legs. Fantasy owners shouldn't necessarily count on Castillo to be in the lineup on Sunday.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsSaturday 5/31, 9:19 AM CT
New York second baseman Luis Castillo may be adding his name to an already-concerning list of injured players for the Mets, according to the New York Post.

Our View: The Mets announced Castillo is suffering from a strained left hip flexor and is not likely to be available to play any time soon. Castillo was replaced by Damion Easley last night and the Mets have stated their desire to see how Castillo responds to work today before making further statements. We will update as news becomes available.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsFriday 5/30, 8:37 PM CT
Luis Castillo has left tonight's battle against the Dodgers in the seventh inning with an undisclosed injury, according to the AP.

Our View: He was replaced by Damion Easley at second base. More news regarding the injury should be released soon.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsTuesday 5/20, 6:30 PM CT
New York second baseman Luis Castillo is getting the night off after going 1-for-4 in the first game of today's double-header against the Atlanta Braves, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View: Castillo has been struggling with a strained left quad but muscled through in Game 1 today. The Mets want to give him a rest, and thus he will be replaced by Damion Easley, set to bat sixth in the order.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsTuesday 5/20, 3:50 PM CT
Luis Castillo hit his first homer of the season and scored the lone run for the Mets in Tuesday's 6-1 loss to Atlanta. He went 1-for-4 overall.

Our View: He has eight runs scored with seven RBI over 16 games in May. His strained left quad seems to be fine now.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsThursday 5/15, 3:23 PM CT
Luis Castillo was able to play with his strained left quad today, and had a solid outing as he went 2-for-2 with one walk in a 1-0 loss to Washington. Both hits were singles.

Our View: There was previously word that his ailing quad may send him to the DL, but that appears to no longer be the case. He had a favorable outing in his first appearance since Sunday.
Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsThursday 5/15, 10:20 AM CT
Luis Castillo is going to return to his starting post at second base today and bat second in the lineup, according to Newsday. He has been bothered by a strained left quad.

Luis Castillo, 2B, New York MetsWednesday 5/14, 7:50 PM CT

Castillo has missed three games and received additional treatment for the quad on Wednesday, and while he reports he feels "better," he does not argue that it could be some time before he feels ready to play. We will update as news comes forth.

If at the end of the day we don't do anything else, I think the feeling internally and (among) people that know Chris a lot better than I do (is that we) feel that he's capable of being productive for us at the position.
