Sal Fasano, C, Colorado RockiesTuesday 2/10, 3:21 PM CT
Sal Fasano has signed a minor league deal with the Rockies, according to MLB.com.

Our View: The 37-year-old vet was added for organizational depth and is not expected to push for a roster spot with Colorado.

The Indians have picked up catcher Sal Fasano from the Braves for a player to be named, according to Fox Sports. Assistant GM John Mirabelli said, "This was an opportunity for us to bring in a quality, veteran guy to help complement our current catching situation. Here is a guy that has a lot of experience, and is a very good receiver." To make room on the roster, the team designated Yamid Haad for assignment.

Our View: The 36-year-old Fasano was hitting .193 with two home runs and nine RBI over 26 games with Atlanta's Triple-A Richmond affiliate. Kelly Shoppach will continue to handle most of the catching duties while Victor Martinez recovers from right elbow surgery, and Fasano does not merit fantasy consideration.

The Blue Jays outrighted Sal Fasano on Tuesday, according to the AP. He wasn't going to make the opening day roster, so the Jays let him go so he could try to find a job elsewhere.

Sal Fasano was designated for assignment Wednesday, no big surprise as he did next to nothing in his time with the Blue Jays (8-fro-45, one homer).

Sal Fasano was recalled from Triple-A Wednesday, as expected, and will split Toronto's catching chores with Jason Phillips over the next 6-8 weeks. Fasano's recall was needed when Gregg Zaun broke a hand in Tuesday's game.

Sal Fasano is expected to join the Blue Jays Wednesday and share time behind the plate with Jason Phillips, according to the team's official site. Gregg Zaun has a right hand injury and will be out for a while; it's feared he might need to be placed on the 60-day disabled list. Back to Fasano: he signed a Minor League deal with the Jays this past winter, and he was hitting .297 with four home runs in 11 games at Triple-A this year.

Sal Fasano agreed to a minor league deal with the Blue Jays on Wednesday, according to the AP. Fasano, who hit just .217 in 189 at-bats last year, will compete for a backup catching job behind Gregg Zaun in the spring.

The Yankees acquired Sal Fasano from the Philies on Wednesday in exchange for minor league second baseman Hector Made, according to the AP. Fasano, who hit .243 with four homers and 10 RBI with Philly, will serve as a backup catcher behind Jorge Posada. He was designated for assignment last week.

The Phillies designated Sal Fasano for assignment on Saturday, according to the AP. Assistant general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said the Phillies have to trade, release or send Fasano outright to the minors by July 31. Fasano was placed on the disabled list on July 4 with left knee inflammation.
