Gary Bennett, C, Tuesday 11/4, 3:19 PM CT
Gary Bennett had his contract bought out by the Dodgers for $50,000, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Bennett had a terrible year, which was plagued by Plantar fasciitis. He shouldn't be fantasy relevant next year either.

Catcher Gary Bennett is probably finished for the season as the plantar fascitis he is suffering from in his left foot simply has not healed, according to the L.A. Daily News.

Our View: Bennett was Russell Martin's backup, and in 21 at-bats he was hitting just .190. He was a non-factor in fantasy leagues.

Gary Bennett, who has been on the DL since May 20, noted that he hasn't run in two weeks and will undergo an MRI exam today on his injured left foot, according to the LA Times. He has plantar fascitis, and team doctors told him he may be forced to have surgery.

Our View: Bennett is only a deep backup at catcher for the Dodgers, and should not be on fantasy rosters in non-keeper leagues.

Gary Bennett was placed on the disabled list Tuesday. The Dodgers backup catcher he is now suffering from plantar fasciitis in his left foot, this according to the LA Daily News. He has been replaced on the roster by veteran backup Danny Ardoin, who has been on fire of late at Triple-A Las Vegas and had his contract purchased. To get Ardoin onto the 40-man roster, Dodgers had to move Jason Schmidt to the 60-day DL.

Our View: For those of you still holding on to Schmidt, the move to the 60-day DL won't delay his return.
Gary Bennett, C, Thursday 5/15, 3:34 PM CT
Gary Bennett went 2-for-4 and racked up four RBI in Thursday's 7-2 win over Milwaukee. Most of his damage came on a three-run homer off of Ben Sheets. Bennett started at catcher in place of Russell Martin, who was moved to third base in place of the ailing Blake DeWitt (lower back pain).

Our View: Bennett had a great day, but won't likely register enough playing time to merit fantasy consideration.
Gary Bennett, C, Wednesday 4/9, 10:34 AM CT
Gary Bennett was awarded a start over Russell Martin on Tuesday against Arizona, but he failed to take advantage of the playing time as he went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts. Martin was given the day off and should return in the Dodgers' next game.

Gary Bennett is the latest to come forward and apologize for HGH use. "With it all coming out, it was very embarrassing," Bennett told the AP. "Going into it, I knew it was wrong. It was a situation in '03 that I was on the DL for 6 1/2 weeks with a partially torn MCL in my right knee. It got to a point where I was extremely frustrated, my knee was hurting. That led me to make a stupid decision." The Dodgers signed Bennett in December to back up Russell Martin.
Gary Bennett, C, Monday 12/17, 5:23 PM CT
Gary Bennett signed a one-year deal with the Dodgers Monday, according to the AP. "Gary provides us with a veteran catcher who can spell Russell from time to time," Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said in a statement. "He has been a member of some very good teams and the fact that he has spent his entire major league career in the National League is also something we found to be beneficial." Bennett, who recently admitted to using HGH in 2003, will serve as a backup to starter Russell Martin.
