Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSunday 11/1, 11:09 PM CT
Jorge Posada was 1-for-3 with a walk and three RBI as the Yankees beat the Phillies 7-4 on Sunday. He also struck out twice in the game.

Our View: Posada only has three hits in the series, but four RBI. The catcher clearly benefits from batting behind a number of big bats in the Yankee lineup.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesMonday 10/19, 7:52 PM CT
Jorge Posada hit a big game-tying home run in the eighth inning on Monday, but the Yankees still ended up falling in extras to the Angels. Posada was 2-for-4 on the game with the solo shot.

Our View: The homer by Posada looked to give the Yanks the momentum late in the game, but the Angels clawed back to cut the New York lead in the series to 2-1. Posada figures to remain behind the plate unless AJ Burnett is on the mound for the rest of the series.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSaturday 10/17, 1:47 PM CT
Jose Molina will "definitely" catch A.J. Burnett in game two of the ALCS on Saturday, according to the New York Post's Joel Sherman.

Our View: Somewhere Jorge Posada fumes. Beyond taking Posada's bat out of the lineup and appeasing Burnett, this also means the Angels might not be able to run all over the base-paths tonight.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSunday 10/11, 9:43 PM CT
After sitting out Game 2 of the series, Jorge Posada returned with some thunder in his bat on Sunday. The catcher was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI as the Yankees eliminated the Twins with a 4-1 win in Minnesota.

Our View: Posada was not too excited about being benched in Game 2, but it's clear his sulking did not translate at the plate. In 26 at-bats against the Angels this season he hit .308 with three home runs and 10 RBI.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesThursday 10/8, 9:34 AM CT
The New York Post is reporting that Yankees' Game 2 starter A.J. Burnett is denying a report that he requested Jose Molina catch him instead of starter Jorge Posada. "It's something that Skip made the decision on and I had no part in," Burnett said on Wednesday.

Our View: It has been no secret that Posada is not happy about sitting in Game 2, and early reports indicated that Burnett had asked manager Joe Girardi to make Molina his personal catcher. Regardless of who made the request, Molina will be catching Burnett while Posada watches from the bench.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesTuesday 10/6, 3:34 PM CT
Jorge Posada will not catch pitcher A.J. Burnett during the playoffs, according to Newsday.

Our View: Burnett has pitched better all season long when Jose Molina is behind the dish, and the Yankees don't want to risk one of his implosions in the playoffs. Hideki Matsui is still expected to DH on days that Burnett is pitching, however, meaning Posada and his .285 average will be out of the lineup.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesMonday 9/28, 11:15 AM CT
Jorge Posada missed his second straight game with a stiff neck on Sunday, according to MLB.com. He is expected to return to the field in the coming days.

Our View: The Yanks are playing it slow with the veteran Posada, and this injury doesn't look like anything too severe. Expect him to be back in the lineup this week, and he should be fine for the playoffs.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSaturday 9/26, 2:18 PM CT
Jorge Posada was scratched from the Yankees' lineup on Saturday with a stiff neck, according to the New York Times' Ben Shpigel.

Our View: Jose Molina will take Posada's place behind the plate. Posada's injury does not appear to be serious, and you can consider him day-to-day for now.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesWednesday 9/23, 2:52 PM CT
MLB.com is reporting that the X-rays on the right foot of Yankees' catcher Jorge Posada came back negative. Posada fouled a ball off his foot in the fifth inning of Tuesday's game against the Angels.

Our View: It had to be a bit worrisome for the Yanks when Posada was sent for X-rays, but it looks like everything is fine. He may miss a few days, but expect Posada to be back in lineup soon and he should be just fine for the postseason.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSunday 9/20, 12:32 PM CT
Jorge Posada's three-game suspension is up, and he will likely be back behind the plate for the Yankees in Seattle on Sunday.

Our View: Despite playing in just 103 games because of injury (and suspension) this season, Posada is having a magnificent offensive year at the age of 38, batting .281 with 21 home runs and 76 RBI. He has benefitted greatly from the new Yankee Stadium, where he is hitting .319, as opposed to just .241 on the road.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesWednesday 9/16, 4:44 PM CT
Jorge Posada has been dealt a four-game suspension for participating in Tuesday's bench-clearing skirmish with the Jays, according to the Sporting News.

Our View: Posada was also fined $3,000, and it is unknown if the veteran catcher intends to appeal the suspension. Jose Molina will work behind the plate in his absence.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSaturday 9/12, 11:40 AM CT
Jorge Posada is not in the Yankees' lineup on Saturday. He will be replaced by Jose Molina behind the plate.

Our View: Posada has been getting regular breaks this season, and it should continue over the rest of the regular season. He is still a solid fantasy catcher when he plays, but you need a decent backup if you are going to roster him.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesWednesday 9/9, 9:28 PM CT
Jorge Posada carried New York in Wednesday's 4-2 win over Tampa Bay at Yankee Stadium, as he went 1-for-1 with a three-run homer off Grant Balfour.

Our View: Posada's shot came in the eighth inning, as part of a four-run rally by the Yankees. Posada hit four homers over seven games this month, and has 21 for the season.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSunday 9/6, 7:50 AM CT
Jorge Posada will not be in the Yankees' lineup on Sunday, according to the New York Post. Posada caught consecutive games Friday night and Saturday afternoon, so manager Joe Girardi said he will sit today.

Our View: Posada has been hitting well as of late, but he very rarely catches a day game after a night game, which he did over the last two days. Girardi is trying to keep the veteran as fresh as possible for the postseason, so expect routine days off the rest of the way.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesThursday 9/3, 10:12 PM CT
Jorge Posada was huge for the Yankees on Thursday as his team beat the Blue Jays by a score of 10-5. Posada went 4-for-5 with a double, a home, run, a run scored, and four RBI.

Our View: Posada has been bothered by a bruised finger over the last week or so, but he looked fine tonight. He is still an offensive threat as long as he is healthy, and at this point anyone who plays home games in Yankee Stadium is a good bet for production.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSaturday 8/29, 1:06 PM CT
Jorge Posada is being given one more day to nurse his bruised ring finger, according to the Star Ledger.

Our View: Posada was held out of Saturday's game against the White Sox, and this marks the third straight day off for the veteran catcher. Skipper Joe Girardi feels that Posada will benefit from one more day off, and will catch in the bullpen today.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesThursday 8/27, 1:12 PM CT
According to the Newark Star-Ledger, Jorge Posada will sit out Thursday's game due to a scheduled off-day, but will likely not be available off the bench due to soreness in his ring finger.

Our View: Posada, who re-injured the finger in Wednesday's game, will likely need about two weeks to completely heal, but manager Joe Girardi said that he would keep him out that long. He's getting fitted for a protective pad, so expect him to play in some of this weekend's games.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesWednesday 8/26, 10:48 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, Jorge Posada's X-rays came back negative, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Posada has multiple hits in four of his last five games, with two homers over the span. The 38-year-old catcher should continue to perform well for fantasy owners as long as he stays healthy.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesThursday 8/6, 10:17 PM CT
Jorge Posada finished a triple short of the cycle of Thursday as the Yankees destroyed the Red Sox 13-6. Posada went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored in the win.

Our View: The Yankees got plenty of offense tonight, but Posada led the way with his three hits and three RBI. He has 14 homers and 50 RBI on the season, and he remains a reliable fantasy catcher as long as he is healthy.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSaturday 7/25, 11:35 AM CT
Jorge Posada is getting the day off on Sunday for the Yankees. He is being replaced by Jose Molina behind the plate.

Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSaturday 7/4, 5:29 PM CT
Jorge Posada homered in the fourth inning on Saturday, and also singled in the game winning run in the 12th inning, as the Yanks outlasted the Blue Jays 6-5 in New York.

Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSaturday 7/4, 10:19 AM CT
Jorge Posada is back in the Yankees' lineup for their game Saturday against the Blue Jays. Posada has missed the last two games with swelling on his injured thumb.

According to the Newark Star Ledger, the Yankees activated catcher Jorge Posada from the disabled list and he is in Friday's starting lineup.

Our View: Posada was expected to be ready to go today, so it's nice to see he didn't suffer any setbacks. He's been in extended spring training for over a week so his bat should be ready to go. He's been a strong fantasy producer this season when healthy, so as long as he's slated to start make sure he's in your lineup.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesThursday 5/28, 4:29 PM CT
The Lower Hudson Journal News is reporting that Jorge Posada played six innings in extended spring training on Thursday and that he is scheduled to fly to Cleveland to meet up with the Yankees. He is expected to be in the lineup when the Yankees return to action of Friday.

Our View: Posada has been playing games in extended spring training for the last week or so, and apparently the Yankees feel comfortable enough to bring him straight back to the team. Posada is still a solid contributor when healthy, so he should be owned in all leagues as long as he can stay in the lineup.

Our View: We knew it was too good to be true. Posada was humming right along with a .312-5-20 line in the early going moving past his shoulder concerns from last season. Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesThursday 4/9, 10:08 AM CT
Jorge Posada is likely to sit today against Baltimore after catching the first two games of the series, according to the Journal News.

I want to leave camp knowing that I can throw somebody out. I am getting stronger, still have a lot to go, but we did a lot of things today, threw a lot of balls, and I am happy with everything right now."

Our View: Posada is hitting .357 this spring and he appears 100 percent. Even still, we can't imagine the Yankees hitting him leadoff, but in games that they have not played Brett Gardner, that's exactly where he's hit. Perhaps when Derek Jeter returns from the WBC, we'll see a new lineup for the Yanks.

GM Brian Cashman said, "I have a catcher who is a perennial All-Star and one of the premier players at that position in this game, a potential Hall of Fame candidate, that we definitely need to come back. He is rehabbing a significant shoulder surgery and it is going well so far."

Jorge Posada had been told that his right labrum is deteriorating and will require surgery, but he may be able to continue his season as a first baseman or DH, according to Yankees.com. The 36-year-old Posada has experienced a weakness in his throwing shoulder all season long and has ruled out catching for the remainder of the campaign, but the injury does not affect him as much when he is hitting, and with six months of estimated rehab looming, Posada must decide if he is willing to resume playing in 2008 at the possible expense of missing time in 2009. Posada said, "It's not about me. It's about the team now. How can I help the team? That's why I'm going to go through the rehab. If I'm able to hit, I'm going to try to do that. If I'm not able to hit, I'm going to have surgery."

Our View: Posada wants to help the team, but he is only hitting .157 (3-for-19) over his last six games, with no homers or RBI.

Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesFriday 7/11, 5:53 PM CT
Jorge Posada got his wish for Friday night, as he will return to catching according to the pre-game lineup cards. He has not caught since July 3.

Our View: A return to catching means Posada will probably see more off days than he would see as a DH or first baseman.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesFriday 7/11, 9:28 AM CT
Jorge Posada is not pleased with the Yankees' plan that has kept him from catching since July 3, according to the NY Daily News. Jose Molina has started the last three games at catcher, and Posada said, "I like to catch. Okay? I'm in the lineup and I'm happy that I'm in the lineup, but I like to catch. I'm a catcher. I'm not a first baseman and I'm not a DH. I like to catch, so I'm looking forward to catching today."

Our View: Manager Joe Girardi opted to go with Molina, as his arm is stronger than Posada's. Posada has also struggled to throw out runners since returning from his shoulder injury.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesThursday 7/10, 9:26 AM CT
Jorge Posada said he will need another shoulder surgery after the season, according to the New York Times. He has been the designated hitter if four of the last five games, as Jose Molina continues defensive duties behind the plate.

Our View: Posada has only caught three of a potential 33 runners attempting to steal, while Molina has nabbed 24 of 50. For fantasy purposes, Posada remains a decent play, even with only three home runs. He still retains a .365 on-base percentage, and .282 average.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesThursday 7/3, 9:07 AM CT
Jorge Posada hasn't been successful in throwing out runners trying to steal, and the team has taken notice, according to New York Newsday. "We're staying with three catchers for a reason, because we're still evaluating how he's coming through this," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said.

Our View: The arm issue doesn't seem to be impeding Posada's offensive capabilities, which is the primary concern for fantasy owners. The longtime backstop is still hitting .293 and though he only has three home runs, is a viable fantasy option.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesFriday 6/6, 5:33 PM CT
Jorge Posada got through his first game in over a month on Thursday. His reward? A day off Friday. "He did fine," manager Joe Girardi said on MLB.com. "It's just that it was one of our patented four-hour games." Girardi went on to say: "I think for the next couple of weeks, you're not going to see him play four or five days in a row, but I think we'll get by that."

Our View: It makes sense that the Yanks will be easing Posada back into things, even though his fantasy owners probably won't like it.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesThursday 6/5, 11:50 AM CT
Jorge Posada is in the Yankees' starting lineup today against the Blue Jays, according to the AP. He has spent more than five weeks on the DL with his shoulder injury.

Our View: Posada has not played in a game for the Yankees since April 26. He will bat sixth in the order in his first game back. He should be safe to return to your roto-lineups.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesThursday 6/5, 10:58 AM CT
Jorge Posada is back in action for the Yankees, but it has been revealed that he is not fully healthy, according to the NY Post. He is capable of playing, but determined that he will undergo labrum surgery after the season. He said, "I don't think it's going to be 100 percent, but it's good enough. I think it's good enough to get going here. There's no discomfort. Obviously something's messed up in there. We're going to have to get that fixed after the season."

Our View: That means Posada's shoulder status probably will hover over him the rest of the season, which has 101 games to go. Longer if the Yankees make the playoffs. Posada believes the shoulder will strengthen throughout the year, so it could become less of an issue, however. The Yankees will continue to keep three catchers until Posada proves ready to handle more than two-consecutive starts.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesWednesday 6/4, 10:51 PM CT
Jorge Posada didn't start in the Yankees Wednesday night win, but he will be in the starting lineup on Thursday. Posada, who been out since April 28 with right rotator cuff tendinitis, is slated to catch Chien-Ming Wang on Thursday in the series finale against Toronto.

Our View: Jose Molina owners need to find another option for their starting lineups next week. He will return to his backup role and see action once or twice a week.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesWednesday 6/4, 6:16 PM CT
Fox Sports reports that Yankee catcher Jorge Posada was activated from the disabled list Wednesday. He won't start but he will be available off the bench against Toronto. Posada had been out since April 28 with right rotator cuff injury. "I don't think it's going to be 100 percent, but it's good enough," he said. "I think it's good enough to get going.

Our View: The All-Star catcher didn't start because he caught the previous two days while rehabilitating his throwing shoulder at extended spring training in Florida.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesTuesday 6/3, 8:02 PM CT
Jorge Posada, recovering from soreness in his throwing shoulder, could be back by in the lineup Thursday, according to the AP. He caught seven innings and went 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly and a walk Tuesday in an extended spring game. "His arm was great today," manager Joe Girardi said. "So probably this evening after the game, maybe I'll talk to [general manager Brian Cashman] on my way home and might see him in there on Thursday."

Our View: Posada is scheduled for a day off from fielding Wednesday but could serve as the DH in another extended spring game if the Yanks decides it wants him to catch a couple more games before rejoining the team.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesTuesday 6/3, 5:12 PM CT
Jorge Posada caught six innings and went 1-for-2 with a walk and a sacrifice fly in an extended spring training game Tuesday, according to the AP. He has been sidelined since April 27 with a sore right shoulder. Posada tested the shoulder further on Tuesday, throwing out baserunners at second base. It was the third game in which he made throws to second base and his sixth extended spring training game overall.

Our View: Posada could be back Wednesday as a pinch hitter before getting back behind the plate shortly after that.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesMonday 6/2, 3:42 PM CT
Jorge Posada went 1-for-3 with a walk in an extended spring training game Monday and remains on pace to rejoin the team this week, according to the AP. Posada made two throws to the bases in the game against Philadelphia’s minor leaguers. He made a throw to first on a batted ball near the plate that was ruled foul, and also tried to pick a runner off second. He said, "You keep working on things and try to throw. I threw the ball behind the runner and felt good about it. We’ll see how it feels tomorrow. Be ready for Thursday or Friday."

Our View: His status to resume catching for New York will be evaluated after playing in another extended spring game on Tuesday, but it looks like he will be ready to come off the DL on Thursday or Friday, as Posada estimated.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSunday 6/1, 10:23 AM CT
Jorge Posada won't return to the Yankees lineup until Thursday, at the earliest. "He will catch Monday and Tuesday in extended spring training, and if everything goes OK, he could catch here Thursday," manager Joe Girardi informs the New York Post. Posada is on the DL due to rotator cuff tendinitis, and he missed all of May.

Our View: Posada is making good progress in his extended spring games, but the Yankees clearly don't want to rush the veteran. Fantasy owners can count on him returning this week, but Posada might only play two or three times.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSaturday 5/31, 8:37 AM CT
Yankees catcher Jorge Posada is looking and hoping to rejoin the lineup on Tuesday night, according to the New York Post.

Our View: Posada has been on the DL since April 26th with rotator-cuff tendinitis and has been working towards return ever since. On Tuesday night, hurler Joba Chamberlain is looking to make his first big-league start of the season and Posada reportedly feels good enough to give it a go in support of that cause, though the catcher claims he's just anxious to get on the field as quickly as possible and that night makes sense.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesFriday 5/30, 5:41 PM CT
Jorge Posada is still scheduled to throw to the bases in an extended spring training game on Saturday for the first time since being taken down by a sore shoulder on April 27, according to the AP. Posada said, "I just hope everything stays the same and keeps progressing." Manager Joe Girardi added that Posada is pretty close to returning, and would like him to catch in consecutive games before he’s activated.

Our View: He could be back in the Yankees' lineup on Thursday or Friday, barring a setback.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesThursday 5/29, 3:22 PM CT
Jorge Posada played in an extended spring training game in Tampa against the Blue Jays, and went 1-for-2 with two walks, according to the Journal News. He served as the catcher, but did not throw to the bases during the game. He participated in his throwing program before the game, and threw from 90, 120 and 150 feet and then to the bases.

Our View: Posada will be cleared to throw to the bases in an extended spring game on Saturday in St. Petersburg against the Rays. The Rays will be asked to run so Posada can test his arm. He could be expected back with the Yankees next week, likely Thursday or Friday, barring a setback.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesTuesday 5/27, 3:25 PM CT
Jorge Posada is going to take a big step in his rehab program for a sore right shoulder Thursday when he is scheduled to resume throwing to the bases in an extended spring training game, according to the AP. Posada said, "Another step forward. Get some at-bats, and now have a day off tomorrow and get ready to throw Thursday. It’s just a matter of getting ready to play games."

Our View: Posada hopes to rejoin the Yankees around June 3, and Thursday will be a big test for him.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesMonday 5/26, 1:44 PM CT
Jorge Posada caught five innings and went 0-for-5 with a walk in his first extended spring training game on Monday, according to the AP. Posada said, "I got a lot of innings behind the plate, that’s all I wanted. I wanted just to get ready to catch again." Posada played catch before entering the game, and threw the ball back to the pitcher, but is not expected to start throwing to the bases until later this week. He added, "Probably Thursday or so I’ll start throwing again. I feel good enough to throw right now, but I’m taking one step at a time. First of all, get my legs underneath me and then get ready to catch, throw and doing all that."

Our View: Posada will play in another extended spring training game Tuesday. He is expected to be activated from the DL a week from Tuesday, barring any setbacks.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesMonday 5/26, 10:17 AM CT
Jorge Posada expects to be activated from the DL a week from Tuesday, according to the NY Post. Posada, who is rehabbing his right shoulder, will start extended spring training today in Tampa Bay, with directions not to make throws until later in the week. Posada said, "I think Girardi is going to be a little careful with me at the beginning. Once I start playing, if I'm not hurting or anything, obviously I'm going to keep going."

Our View: Posada does not expect to make any minor league rehab appearances for the Yankees.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSunday 5/25, 12:47 PM CT
Jorge Posada is heading to extended spring training, according to the AP. He expects to play four or five games as he continues to rehabilitate his injured throwing shoulder. He will hit and catch, but not be allowed to throw during the first two games. If all goes favorably according to plan, he’ll add the throwing in his third game.

Our View: The Yankees hope to have him back within two weeks, and Posada noted it could be as early as June 3.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesFriday 5/23, 6:31 PM CT
Jorge Posada will go to the Yankees' minor league complex in Tampa, Fla., for rehab of his throwing shoulder next week and could possibly rejoin the team in early June, according to the AP. The catcher hasn't played since April 26 because of soreness in the shoulder. "Sometime in the first two weeks of June would be something we would be hopeful for," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said. "But is that realistic? I don't know yet."

Our View: We'll have to see how Posada's shoulder responds to the rehab before setting a real timetable.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesFriday 5/23, 3:54 PM CT
Jorge Posada extended his throwing to 120 feet on Friday, Newsday reports. The catcher could be ready for a rehab assignment as soon as Monday.

Our View: Fantasy owners should expect to be without Posada for one more fantasy week. We'll continue to follow his progress.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesWednesday 5/21, 12:56 PM CT
Jorge Posada did some more throwing Tuesday, as he tries to work his way off the DL from rotator cuff tendinitis, according to the NY Daily News. Posada has been throwing at distances of 75 and 90 feet, though Manager Joe Girardi said the Yankees increased the number of throws he made Tuesday. Posada will increase the distance and number of throws during the week, and he could be ready to begin a minor-league rehab assignment next week.

Our View: Posada would need to catch four or five games in the minors as the team needs to see how he bounces back after catching two in a row. The team previously set a target date for his return in the first week of June.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesTuesday 5/20, 11:55 AM CT
ESPN Baseball Tonight reported that Jorge Posada is "progressing rather nicely" in his shoulder rehab. The Yankee catcher had a scheduled day off Monday in his throwing program and is ahead of schedule in his rehab.

Our View: The team hopes to get him back from the disabled list the first week of June.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesMonday 5/19, 8:17 AM CT
The Yankees are talking about Jorge Posada returning to the team in early June rather than mid-to-late June. He caught his first bullpen session on Sunday and is throwing from 90 feet.

Our View: After two straight drubbings at the hands of the Mets, ex-catcher and Yankee skipper Joe Girardi can't get Posada back soon enough.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSunday 5/18, 9:22 PM CT
Jorge Posada caught his first bullpen session on Sunday in his attempt to come back from an injured shoulder, according to MLB.com. Posada also made a series of throws from 90 feet.

Our View: There is still no target date for Posada, but considering how much time he has missed, one would be safe to assume that he will have to spend some time in the minors regaining his stroke.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesFriday 5/9, 1:15 PM CT
Jorge Posada took batting practice for the first time on Thursday since landing on the DL with right shoulder tendinitis, according to CBSsports. He took 28 swings right-handed, and 26 from the left side.

Our View: He does not require surgery, but will be out until mid-June. He could start a light throwing program as early as next week.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesFriday 5/2, 6:48 PM CT
Jorge Posada was ordered to not pick up a bat or throw a ball for at least the next two weeks, this according to MLB.com. However, the good news is that Posada will not need surgery on his injured throwing shoulder.

Our View: The understanding is that Posada won't return to active duty for at least 4-8 weeks. Jose Molina will see the majority of the playing time while Posada is out.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesTuesday 4/29, 6:16 PM CT
Jorge Posada, on the DL with a shoulder injury, was examined by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham Monday, and the films from the Andrews visit have been sent to Reds team physician Dr. Timothy Kremchek for a second opinion, which the Yankees hope to receive on Wednesday, according to MLB.com. Posada would then be examined by team physician Dr. Stuart Hershon on Tuesday, and he was scheduled to see Dr. David Altchek on Thursday for an additional opinion. "Until all the doctors weigh in, I'm not going to guess and speculate," Posada said in a statement released through the team. "When they give me concrete information, I'll be sure to share it with [reporters]."

Our View: Manager Joe Girardi is optimistic that the films will not show any major structural damage and that Posada will be able to return to the club later this season.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesMonday 4/28, 3:08 PM CT
Jorge Posada went to see Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham today, according to the NY Post. The results of Andrews' examination, which likely included a second MRI exam, were not presently available. The Yankees are hoping that Posada's most recent shoulder problems won't require surgery. Two weeks ago there was notably speculation that the diagnosis of a strained muscle was actually a tear in the labrum area.

Our View: Posada was placed on the 15-day DL and the Yankees recalled catcher Chris Stewart from Triple-A Scranton. He will serve as Jose Molina's backup. The team would reportedly seek out another veteran catcher if Posada ultimately needs surgery. We will keep you posted on Posada's status.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesMonday 4/28, 9:59 AM CT
Jorge Posada is going to land on the DL for the first time in his career, according to the AP. He was battling a recurring shoulder ailment that limited his throwing ability. Posada explained, "An MRI showed a strained muscle, but there is more to it than that. I am going on the DL. We have to be smart about it. It’s very disappointing. It’s the biggest disappointment in my career, probably, being on the DL and not being able to participate in games. It’s really tough. I thought it was coming along, but it’s not. It’s something that we’ve got to find out what’s really bothering me and take it from there." Yankees' manager Joe Girardi did not confirm that Posada would be headed to the DL but said that it “probably” would happen, and Posada may pay a visit to Dr. James Andrews.

Our View: Jose Molina's fantasy stock will rise for the short term until Posada is ready to step back into his catching role. He is worth targeting, namely if you have Posada on your roster.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSunday 4/27, 6:03 PM CT
Jorge Posada (shoulder) is headed to the disabled list according to ESPN SportCenter.

Our View: Posada had an MRI on his shoulder Sunday and the tests revealed minor damage, but the Yankee catcher is unable to throw the ball to the teams satisfaction. More on Posada when the information is available.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSunday 4/27, 12:16 PM CT
The New York Yankees will take the field against the Cleveland Indians today without veteran catcher Jorge Posada , according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: Posada was originally slated to fill the 5th spot in the batting order and start behind the plate, but the Plain Dealer reports he is a last-minute scratch as Jose Molina gets the spot and bats ninth. We have yet to receive reports indicating injury or other specific concern for Posada, but it seems all too apparent the veteran catcher continues to battle for recovery from a strained right shoulder. He was out of the lineup for the Yanks on Saturday as well.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSaturday 4/26, 2:36 PM CT
Jorge Posada is sitting out today's game against the Indians, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Jose Molina is starting at catcher, and Alex Rodriguez is handling the DH role.

Our View: Posada has been suffering from a strained right shoulder, and is still building his strength back up.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesWednesday 4/23, 11:22 PM CT
Give veteran catcher Jorge Posada his due, for the Yanks paid him big bucks to stay on this season and thus far he is making good. Posada went 4-for-5 at the plate in the Yankees' 6-4 win over the Chicago White Sox this evening, hitting three doubles to gather two RBIs.

Our View: Posada now carries a .304 average, touting at least one hit in each of his last nine starts.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesTuesday 4/22, 8:37 PM CT
Jorge Posada started at catcher on Tuesday night. It was his first start behind the dish since April 8, as he has been dealing with a strained right shoulder.

Our View: It's too bad the Yankees are facing the White Sox, who attempt to steal a base about as often as Bill O'Reilly says something nice about Hillary Clinton.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesTuesday 4/22, 9:39 AM CT
Jorge Posada will test his strained right shoulder today by throwing and if the arm strength has improved favorably, he could start behind the plate against the White Sox tonight, according to the NY Post. Posada hasn't started at catcher since April 8.

Our View: Chad Moeller's fantasy stock will drop as soon as Posada resumes his role at catcher. It could rain in Chicago tonight however, so that could factor into his playing status.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSunday 4/20, 1:11 PM CT
Jorge Posada is expected to return to his spot at catcher next week, according to MLB.com. He could catch as early as the team's three-game series that starts in Chicago on Tuesday night, and Manager Joe Girardi commented, "I'd be surprised if he doesn't catch next week. I've seen the progress in his arm. I'm not smart enough to know that he'll be back at full strength next week, but just from the progress I've seen, it's encouraging."

Our View: This is favorable news, and the short-term value of Chad Moeller is soon to expire.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSaturday 4/19, 1:57 PM CT
The Yankees report catcher Jorge Posada will play some at first base, according to the New York Post.

Our View: Regular first bagger Jason Giambi has been struggling to hit and manager Joe Girardi felt a change was needed versus LHP Brian Burres. Posada has struggled with a strained right shoulder and thus hasn't lined up behind the plate as a catcher since April 8th. Today, it will be Jose Molina at first base for the Yanks.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesFriday 4/18, 7:47 PM CT
Jorge Posada tested his injured shoulder on Friday but it was determined that he wouldn't start at catcher on Friday and that he may not be back in the lineup on Saturday either, this according to MLB.com. "We'll see," manager Joe Girardi said. "It's day-to-day. I just believe one day he'll say, 'It's back.' But we're not at that day yet."

Our View: Posada has been limited to DH duties of late, though he does have a 7-game hitting streak going at the moment despite just a .268 batting average.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesFriday 4/18, 11:10 AM CT
Jorge Posada remains stuck at DH, but he could be back behind the plate on Saturday. "We are pushing for Saturday [in Baltimore]. Ask me about it Saturday," he tells the New York Post. Posada hasn't started at catcher since April 8 due to a sore right shoulder.

Our View: Posada owns a seven-game hitting streak, so we're all for keeping him at DH.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesWednesday 4/16, 9:34 AM CT
Jorge Posada made around 45 throws in the outfield yesterday, while testing out his strained right shoulder for the second consecutive day, according to the NY Daily News. Manager Joe Girardi noted that he will not be getting a cortisone shot, and Posada commented that he felt better and is getting closer to resuming his role at catcher.

Our View: This is favorable news for Posada, and his fantasy stock should go back up soon.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesTuesday 4/15, 11:44 AM CT
Jorge Posada is considering a cortisone injection for his ailing shoulder, according to the NY Post. He has been playing at DH as he is not ready to handle the strain of catching yet and noted, " It's 50/50 (a cortisone injection) would work because of where the problem is. Where the problem is isn't where the shot would go, so it's 50/50. I am considering it."

Our View: Either way, he still holds fantasy value while working as the Yankees' DH. Jose Molina may be ready to handle the catching role in about a day or two as well.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSunday 4/13, 8:36 PM CT
Jorge Posada will throw on Monday to test his sore right shoulder, MLB.com reports. He hasn't been behind the plate since Tuesday, but he has stayed in the lineup at DH.

Our View: Posada's bat hasn't suffered, so fantasy owners shouldn't be terribly concerned.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSaturday 4/12, 2:37 PM CT
Jorge Posada will serve as the Yankees' DH again today as they battle the rival Red Sox, according to the Boston Globe. He is set to bat sixth in the lineup.

Our View: Jose Molina will continue to fill in at catcher until he is strong enough to return.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesSaturday 4/12, 8:53 AM CT
Jorge Posada won't likely start at catcher during their current three-game series with the rival Red Sox, according to NewsDay. A shoulder strain has drained his arm strength and he commented, "I'm not ready, but it feels better. It feels pretty good, but I didn't air it out." He could still handle the DH role, which he did last night.

Our View: Jose Molina should continue to hold favorable fantasy value through the weekend, as the Yankees' starting catcher.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesFriday 4/11, 3:54 PM CT
Jorge Posada will serve as the Yankees' DH tonight against Boston, according to the Providence Journal. He will not catch due to his shoulder ailment, and Jose Molina will make another start at the position.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesThursday 4/10, 11:12 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez and Jorge Posada went back-to-back with long balls in the ninth inning off Hideo Nomo, who replaced Bale for his first appearance in the majors since 2005, while with Tampa Bay. Posada, who is still suffering from a shoulder sprain, served as the teams designated hitter.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesThursday 4/10, 6:51 PM CT
Jorge Posada returned to the lineup card on Thursday and will be the Yankees designated hitter in the final game of a three-game series against the Royals. Posada, who was thought to be headed to the disabled list with a shoulder injury, is not ready to return to his catching duties and likely won't be until early next week.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesThursday 4/10, 10:59 AM CT
It appears that Jorge Posada will avoid the DL, according to the NY Daily News. The team received encouraging news on him, as an MRI exam revealed nothing more than a strained right shoulder. Posada noted, "It's good news that it's not worse. I was worried because my shoulder is part of what I do. I had surgery in 2001 and I was worried that it was going to be the same. I'm happy that it's not." Posada stated that he expects to miss the next three or four days, although Girardi commented that he could miss a few more days than that, and added, "I really believe he'll be back in there in a week. We'll have to wait and see. I tend to be a little more conservative. You don't want to run him out there until he's completely healthy." This is good news for Posada, and the fantasy value of backup Jose Molina will begin to decline.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesTuesday 4/8, 8:25 PM CT
Jorge Posada's right shoulder injury may force him to the DL, according to MLB.com. The catcher was removed from Tuesday's game in the sixth inning after feeling a recurrence of the stiffness in the shoulder that has plagued him recently. He'll have an MRI Wednesday. When asked how the shoulder feels, Posada responded: "Dead. It's like I've got no strength." The Royals stole four bases Tuesday off Posada, and manager Joe Girardi acknowledged that having Posada behind the plate would now be a weakness. Journeyman Chad Moeller is at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and would likely get called up should Posada need a DL stint. It sounds pretty likely that may be the route the Yankees take. We'll keep you posted.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesFriday 4/4, 9:53 PM CT
Jorge Posada was originally supposed to catch Friday night, but he told the team during warmups he wasn’t ready, according to the AP. Posada was in the DH spot instead and went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts at the plate. Perhaps he should have waited another day or two to return from his shoulder injury.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesFriday 4/4, 5:27 PM CT
Jorge Posada is in the lineup tonight in the DH spot. He had missed the previous two games with a shoulder injury.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesFriday 4/4, 6:09 AM CT
Jorge Posada, who tweaked his shoulder in the Yankees' season opener while throwing to second base, was scratched about an hour before Wednesday night's game and was held out Thursday's scheduled event as well, this according to the New York Daily News. Posada's injury is different than the one that sidelined him for a few days during the spring. Skipper Joe Girardi said there was a "good shot" that Posada would play tonight [Friday] against the Rays.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesThursday 4/3, 5:50 PM CT
Jorge Posada is out of the lineup Thursday for the second straight day because of a stiff right shoulder, according to MLB.com. He is expected to be available as a pinch-hitter. Posada is able to hit and exercise, but is not permitted to throw yet. "They want me to rest," Posada said. "It doesn't hurt at all, even hitting or anything. We'll find out tomorrow when I throw. It's better because, obviously, there's no ache. The stiffness is gone too. It's just a matter of finding out tomorrow what it feels like." Jose Molina started in Posada's place. Expect Jorge to be back in the lineup sometime this weekend.
Jorge Posada, C, New York YankeesWednesday 4/2, 6:05 PM CT
