Preston Wilson, OF, Tuesday 6/12, 8:00 PM CT
Preston Wilson underwent surgery on his right knee Tuesday and will be out the rest of the season, according to the AP. The procedure to repair the articular cartilage was performed by Dr. Richard Steadman in Vail, Colo. Wilson hit .219 with one home run and five RBI in 25 games this year.

Preston Wilson will have his knee examined on Monday. It's likely that he will undergo some sort of surgery to repair damage in the joint, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He could have a minor procedure to clean his knee out, or he could face microfracture surgery. If it's the latter, Wilson's season would be over, and he'd have a very long recovery ahead of him. If it's the former, Wilson could return in a matter of weeks.
Preston Wilson, OF, Sunday 6/3, 11:18 AM CT
It looks like there's a chance Preston Wilson might not return at all this year. Wilson is on the DL with swelling in his right knee and treatment has done nothing to alleviate the condition, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "He's clearly at the point where he needs to consider something surgical," team medical supervisor Dr. George Paletta said. Wilson could opt to have the knee "cleaned up" in an effort to get through the season, or he could have a "microfracture" procedure that would sideline him for the year. "The decision isn't really if, but what kind of surgery to have," Paletta said.

Preston Wilson, on the DL with inflammation in his right knee, has not swung or sprinted since going on the disabled list May 6, and there's no telling when he'll be able to do so. "I have no idea about anything as of now," Wilson told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Preston Wilson, OF, Monday 3/5, 9:48 PM CT
Preston Wilson returned to the lineup as the DH on Monday after missing time with biceps tenderness, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He'll be the DH again on Tuesday. Manager Tony La Russa stated that Wilson could see some time in center field this spring. "I don't think there’s anything wrong with Preston there," La Russa said. "He handles left and right. The only thing about center is how his legs feel."
Preston Wilson, OF, Monday 1/29, 3:40 PM CT
Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch has reported that the Cardinals have re-signed Preston Wilson to a one-year deal worth $1 million. Wilson will share time in left field with the left-handed hitting Chris Duncan.

The Cardinals are in the market for a right-handed hitting outfielder, and Preston Wilson remains a possibility, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Wilson hit .243 with eight homers and 17 RBI in 111 at-bats with St. Louis last season after being released by the Astros.
Preston Wilson, OF, Tuesday 10/24, 11:39 AM CT
Preston Wilson has gone hitless in his last 10 postseason at-bats, but he will be in the lineup for Game 3 of the World Series because he is 5-for-5 with two homers in his career versus Nate Robertson, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "He can be good," Wilson said of Robertson. "He's got a hard slider that almost looks like a cutter, and when he hits his locations, he's tough."
Preston Wilson, OF, Sunday 8/27, 10:53 PM CT
Preston Wilson batted leadoff for the Cardinals on Sunday against the Cubs, according to the AP. He went 1-for-4 with his ninth steal of the year. It's unclear if manager Tony La Russa intends to leave Wilson in the leadoff spot until David Eckstein returns or if this was just a one time thing. Prior to Sunday, Aaron Miles had been batting first.
Preston Wilson, OF, Friday 8/18, 7:27 PM CT
Preston Wilson had a solid debut with the Cardinals, according to the AP. He started in right field, going 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a stolen base. "It's the kind of first impression you want to make," manager Tony La Russa said. "He did so many good things and gave us a lift right away."
Preston Wilson, OF, Friday 8/18, 10:39 AM CT
Preston Wilson has signed with the Cardinals, according to the team's website. Wilson is expected to be in uniform tonight, so a corresponding roster move will be made. Wilson should see some action in left field against right-handed pitching, and he also gives the Cardinals some insurance in case Jim Edmonds has more concussion problems. Wilson is hitting .312 in 77 at-bats against southpaws this season.

Preston Wilson, OF, Saturday 8/12, 8:06 PM CT
The Astros designated Preston Wilson for assignment on Saturday, according to the AP. Wilson began the season as the starting left fielder for Houston, but lost playing time recently with the emergence of Luke Scott, and the return of Morgan Ensberg off the DL, which moved either Aubrey Huff or Lance Berkman to the outfield.
Preston Wilson, OF, Wednesday 8/2, 8:25 AM CT
Preston Wilson was not in the starting lineup Tuesday and is no longer guaranteed a starting spot in left field, according to the Houston Chronicle. In fact, nothing is settled in the outfield for the Astros right now. "I wouldn't say I have a particular set lineup," manager Phil Garner said. "I'm going to play around with it for a little bit and see if there's anything that looks a little different. We have as many lefthanders as I could get in there tonight." Luke Scott started in place of Wilson in left field.
