Ron Mahay, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 2/28, 9:58 AM CT
According to the Boston Globe, left-handed reliever Ron Mahay turned down a minor league offer from the Red Sox.

Our View: It appears that Mahay won't settle for anything but a deal that guarantees him a spot on a major league roster. Last season with the Twins and Royals he put up an unimpressive 4.29 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in 50.1 innings, so he may have to back off his stand if he wants a job.

FOXSports.com reports that the Twins have acquired Ron Mahay from the Royals as expected.

Our View: Mahay will help bolster the Twins' bullpen from the left side and he comes to Minnesota on the cheap. The Royals will assume most of his original salary and the Twins will pay him a prorated version of the league minimum. The grand total will be less than 100K. This is a great move for the hard charging Twinkies.

FoxSports.com is reporting that the Twins are closing in on a deal with ex-Royals' reliever Ron Mahay. Mahay was designated for assignment by the Royals four days ago.

Our View: The Twins are looking to bolster their bullpen for the stretch run, but they better hope Mahay is quite a bit better for them than he was for the Royals. If you can't hack it in Kansas City these days, it is hard to believe that things will be any better somewhere else. However, he could find a home in Minnesota as a lefty specialist to help out Jose Mijares.

Ron Mahay has been designated for assignment by the Royals, according to team beat writer Bob Dutton's twitter page. Pitcher Yasuhiko Yabuta was promoted from Triple-A Omaha as the adjoining move.

Our View: The 38-year-old lefty was struggling in the Royals' pen and namely gave up nine homers, which led to today's move.

Reliever Ron Mahay pitched a scoreless inning Friday to get the win as the Royals beat the Rangers 8-7.

Our View: Mahay should be a steady influence in the bullpen again this season, though with the additions of Kyle Farnsworth and Juan Cruz his fantasy value will likely be muted.

Royals reliever Ron Mahay has recovered from the plantar fascitis in his left foot, and is slated to be activated from the DL on Tuesday, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View: Mahay has been solid in his relief role, with a 2.91 ERA. However, as a middle reliever, he holds little fantasy value.

As expected, Ron Mahay has officially been placed on the 15-day DL due to a case of plantar fascitis in his left foot, according to the KC Star. Kyle Davis took his place on the roster when recalled from Triple-A Omaha.

Royals reliever Ron Mahay will be put on the 15-day disabled list with plantar fascia, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View: Mahay has been a solid performer in the bullpen for the Royals, though as with most middle relievers, his fantasy value is not high.

Ron Mahay is once again dealing his pain in his left foot, according to the KC Star. The reliever reported some day-after soreness in his left foot after pitching Friday for the first time since August 6. He was diagnosed with plantar fascia, which results in discomfort to the heel and bottom of the foot. He said, "It’s a little step back. I hope it’s only a little step. I’ve never had this before. I’m learning as I go with this."

Our View: As a result of the ailment, Mahay struggled against the Yankees Friday while walking two of three batters faced. This is unfavorable news for the Royals' bullpen, but he only holds fantasy value in leagues that use middle men.

Left-handed reliever Ron Mahay is still in the Royals' bullpen, but his availability isn't certain because of plantar fasciitis in his left foot, which causes pain in the heel, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Mahay hasn't pitched since last Wednesday. Hammered that day by the Boston Red Sox, Mahay finally yielded to the ailment which had bothered him on and off for some time. Mahay saw a specialist on Monday and says he feels better. He takes anti-inflammatories, ices the foot and does stretching exercises. On Tuesday, he did some throwing before batting practice. He tells the Royals how the foot feels just before the game so they can decide if he's available to pitch. If he's not back in action during this series, the Royals might opt to put him on the disabled list.

The Phillies failed to reach the Royals' demands for left reliever Ron Mahay, so now the team is turning their attention to the Braves' Will Ohman, Pirates' John Grabow and Giants' Jack Taschner, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

Our View: It's a good bet that the Phils will be able to land one of the three southpaws.
Ron Mahay, P, Minnesota TwinsWednesday 7/30, 3:21 PM CT
Ron Mahay's name has been circulating in trade rumors, but he mentioned that he would like to remain in Kansas City, according to MLB.com. He said, "I don't want to go anywhere. I don't know what to tell you. My name's been floating around, but nothing's been done." The Royals will be off Thursday when the trade deadline comes around, and he added, "I'll be playing with my kids, hoping I don't get a phone call."

Our View: The 37-year-old lefty is enjoying a strong season with the Royals, as he holds a 1.78 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over 55.2 innings, with 42 strikeouts.

ESPN's Jayson Stark is now reporting that the Phillies are "not close" to acquiring Ron Mahay from the Royals, this according to a source with knowledge of the Phillies' trading discussions.

Our View: Mahay still seems to be a great fit with the Phillies. We'll have to see if the two teams can iron out a deal.

The Phillies may be on the verge of acquiring Ron Mahay from the Royals, according to Jayson Stark of ESPN Insider. The Phils would give up shortstop prospect Jason Donald in return.

Our View: Mahay is having a superb year in Kansas City and is under contract for $4 million next year. He would give the Phils a nice 1-2 lefty combo out of the pen with J.C. Romero.
Ron Mahay, P, Minnesota TwinsSunday 7/27, 11:53 PM CT
Ron Mahay worked out of an impressive jam on Sunday. He came in to relieve starter Kyle Davies with no outs and runners on second and third. The left-hander struck out Carlos Pena, retired Willy Aybar on an infield popup and got pinch-hitter Jonny Gomes to fly out to left to end the inning.

Our View: Mahay has allowed just two earned runs in 24 2/3 innings over his past 20 outings. He is 5-0 with 17 holds and a 1.81 ERA.

Ron Mahay is drawing interest from other teams as the trading deadline approaches, according to the Kansas City Star. The paper lists the Tigers, Yankees, Red Sox, Marlins and Rays as potential suitors.

Our View: Mahay has been very good as a left-handed reliever, with a 2.13 ERA while allowing just two home runs in 42.1 innings of work. He doesn't possess great fantasy value, but he does have 12 holds for players using that statistic.
